We got more than a problem. We lost O2 tank two pressure.
Nothing made sense in those first few seconds.
Speaker 3 No one knew what exactly had happened.
Speaker 5 We are vending something out into space. It's a gas control sword.
Speaker 1 It's going down. We're losing it.

Speaker 4 The incredible story of the flight of Apollo 13. Four days in space in 1970 with the astronauts' lives under constant threat.
Speaker 1 We were not confident we were going to get the crew back. I was thinking that we weren't going to survive.
Speaker 1 But we were going to try our best all the way out until the oxygen left us and that was the end of the deal.
Speaker 1 As far as he was concerned, they really didn't have much of a chance of coming back

Speaker 1 doctors fell apart.
Speaker 1 We were exhaling carbon dioxide and slowly that gas was building up. We were being poisoned by our own exhalation.
Speaker 1 Gradually temperature went down.
Speaker 1 It got very cold, 35 or 40 degrees, like the inside of your refrigerator.

I was worried about Fred, so I comforted him a little bit, put my arms around him, and tried to get my body heat in his body. It's amazing.
It's absolutely friggin' amazing.
Speaker 1 You got to hand it to the crew. That crew were brave, I'll tell you.
Speaker 4 Hour after hour, day after day, thousands of engineers around the United States battle to keep the astronauts alive and resurrect a dead spacecraft.
