A Very Special Announcement from In Bed With the Right
In Bed With the Right has an announcement: the show is coming to Patreon! You can sign up for extra content (2 episodes per month!) here! But our main feed (meaning episodes wherever you have been listening to us) will not be affected -- in fact, there's a new episode coming Tuesday. But if you'd like to hear Moira and Adrian talk their way through some weirder, wilder, more niche topics -- such as conservative fixations on Precious Bodily Fluids --, well, then check out the Patreon!

Hello, I'm Adrienne Dobb.
And I'm Moira Donegan.
And whether we like it or not, we are on Patreon.
So, Adrienne, this is kind of a new project for us.
We decided to launch the Patreon for Inbed with the Right and give some of our listeners a little bit more exclusive content and see where we can take this thing.
Exactly.
So you might wonder, wait, you know, for 40 episodes, you didn't need to do this.
Why now?
Let me maybe back up a little and explain how Inbed with the Right is actually put together.
So I'm the director of the Clayman Institute at Stanford and you, Maura, are the writer in residence, right?
Our episodes are edited by an amazing duo of producers, depending on basically who's available.
It's Katie Lau and Mark Yoshizumi.
We love Katie and Mark.
Shout out to those guys.
We love Katie and Mark.
And, you know, they need to be paid for their work.
And, you know, it was sort of a side project for both of us.
And we've loved making it and we want to do more with it.
But, you know, I won't be the director of the Clayman Institute forever.
And you won't be, unfortunately, the writer in residence forever.
But we do want to keep doing this.
So now...
as we like sort of look to the future, this like very perilous, uncertain future that's definitely going to have a lot of
conservative gender regimes operating within it.
We're hoping that we can get a certain subgroup of our listeners, and there's kind of a surprising number of you out there.
It always sort of like shocks me.
Yeah, thank you.
We're hoping we can get some of you to subscribe for extra content, which will enable us to keep doing this thing.
Yeah, the idea is basically that the Patreon episodes will eventually pay for the main feed, basically.
Meaning, research, production, editing, and distribution.
Turns out that costs money too, unfortunately.
And we don't think it'll be too difficult.
The show is not super expensive to make.
It's just we got to figure out a way to break even.
So, which is also, I think, a way of saying that if you don't have the money right now or you want to dedicate it somewhere else, please don't worry.
Like, I don't, I really don't think the show is going anywhere.
But if you do like the show and you want to support us, you know, here's your chance.
Yeah, if you've got some, you know, change burning a hole in your pocket and you like what we do, this is one way to pitch in and help us keep doing it.
So maybe we'll say a little bit about what the Patreon actually looks like.
We're going to do two episodes per month.
We're pretty sure we can stick to that.
We've got a bunch in the can already.
We're also starting a Discord, which I'm learning about sort of in real time, but everyone says it's a good thing to do.
And it's exciting in some way, because I don't know if you've noticed this, but like.
Part of, I think, why we're often surprised by how well the show is doing is because we've actually not given people any way to get in touch with us.
A lot of people, so there's a central email for the Clayman Institute, and people have emailed that, and we get it forwarded to us.
I think this is for the podcast.
And people are reacting to our episode to our very confused, wonderful administrative staff who are like, this is cool, but like, I'm not the person to read this.
And they'll forward it to us, obviously.
This like mighty but small gender studies think tank at Stampede.
Exactly.
Right.
Like they're just some, the person doing admin for that institute is getting the feedback for our episodes.
And you know what?
They don't need that, but also we want to hear what you guys have to say.
You know, we want to get in touch with this community of listeners who are out there and who are thinking about this stuff along with us.
So I'm really excited to have the Discord just to get to talk to people and hear a little bit more of the thoughts of our listeners.
And the other part of it, of course, is that due to the ongoing and shitification of Twitter, we're probably not going to stay on X for that much longer.
I mean, it's just not very useful anymore, right?
If you actually want to talk to us, if you actually want to find stuff that's interesting and useful for folks doing this kind of work, that platform that we are both relying on kind of a bit, it's just not really the place.
And maybe this could be the place.
Yeah.
And then I should also mention the final part of this is that there will be swag, but we're still learning how to do that.
We're going to have such good swag, though.
It's going to be funny.
It's going to be cute.
It's going to be iconic.
And you're all going to get a chance to grab it first if you're one of our loyal Patreon subscribers.
Yeah.
So I think we'll leave it at that.
Don't want to take up too much of your time.
And again, if you enjoy the podcast, but not enough to want to invest $5, totally fine.
We're not planning to reduce our clip of regular episodes at all.
So basically, nothing will change.
It's just that there's another parallel universe where weirder, more experimental episodes are dropping twice a month and where people are having
conversations on Discord.
But really, for casual listeners, nothing will change.
I mean, I do think that like one upside of the Patreon content is that this is really where we get to let our freak flags fly.
Like, this is me and Adrian nerding out, being maximally enthusiastic, maximally
activated, I should say.
Messy.
We're going to be messy.
We're going to be messy.
We're going to gossip.
We're going to say fuck a lot.
I think we actually do, of course, on the main feed, but you know what I mean?
It's going to be, this is going to be like in bed with the right after dark a little bit.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
And if you want to get the juicier content, this is where it's going to be.
There's going to be things that only Patreon subscribers will know.
All right.
Well, so we hope you'll subscribe and follow us along on this weird, wacky, unsettling journey we're taking into the right-wing gender world.
Yeah, as we're all getting, whether we like it or not.
In fucking bed with the right.
