Hey folks, Erin here.
When lore was new, it was pretty easy to listen to all the episodes, but at this point, we're quickly approaching 250, and that's honestly a daunting amount of content.
So, I wanted to try something new.
A lot of the episodes that we publish are connected to a larger branch of folklore, so monster episodes or bizarre true crime cases, things like that.
We've even done more than one episode discussing the folklore known as medicinal cannibalism, which yeah, is exactly what it sounds like.
So I've started to wonder what it would be like to give you a follow-up to new episodes that helps guide you to previous episodes that are topically related.
An exhumation of sorts where I dig up past stories so you can give them a fresh listen in the context of the new one.
So let's give it a try.
This week's episode, number 243, surprise, was about a very unique witch trial in the early 1600s known as the Basque Witch Trials.
And it's not the first time that we've discussed witch trials throughout history that seem to defy the stereotypical witch accusation stuff.
To that end, I want to recommend three past episodes to download and enjoy.
First, go download episode 25, The Cave.
This one is set far, far away from Europe on a small South American island called Chiliway, and it explores a weird witchcraft cult run by a bunch of men called the Brujo.
Their story, set in the late 1800s, is super disturbing and fascinating, and I think you'll love it.
Next up is episode 140, Potential.
This one is all about a witch trial that broke out in the late 1500s in Italy.
And what's amazing about this one is that somehow the community managed to correct course and prevent a massive tragedy.
Still, it's a terrifying story and worth a listen.
And last, go grab episode 156, Bottled Up.
Yes, it's a witch story set right in the heart of witch trial territory, Essex County in England, but this one is so very, very different from what you might expect.
White witches, folk magic, crazy physical objects and creatures, all centered in a little place called Knuden.
I really think you should check it out.
So there you go.
Follow up this week's episode on unusual witch trials with a trip into the past.
Episodes 25, 140, and 156 are waiting for you in this podcast feed, or you can find their direct links in the description for this episode.
And until next time, stay spooky.
