Wall Street's wild ride continues. A Title IX task force zeros in on schools allowing men in women's sports.
And the Florida Gators battle the Houston Cougars for the NCAA championship. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley.
It's Monday, April 7th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. Stocks took a rollercoaster ride today as Wall Street reacted to President Trump's latest tariff push.
Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips has more. The Dow fell another 1,300 points when the markets opened today, only to rebound amid rumors of a tariff pause and then fall again once those rumors turned out to be just rumors.
Ultimately, by midday, the Dow was down nearly 1,000 points while the S&P fell near bear market territory and made ongoing threats of retaliatory measures from China and others. The EU did, however, extend an olive branch of sorts, offering a zero-for-zero trade deal with the US after President Trump imposed steep tariffs on European imports.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen did, however, caution that they were ready to strike back. Meanwhile, in an effort to bring Beijing to the bargaining table, Trump is threatening additional 50 percent tariff hikes on China if they do not back down on their 34 percent rate against U.S.
goods. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met President Trump at the White House today.
Israel faces a 17% levy under Trump's Liberation Day plan, which surprised Israeli officials amid ongoing war and economic strain. The two leaders will hold joint press conferences this afternoon.
Netanyahu hopes to reach an agreement with Trump regarding the duties they're currently forced to pay. Here's Netanyahu.
We will eliminate the trade deficit with the United States. We intend to do it very quickly.
We think it's the right thing to do. And we're going to also eliminate trade barriers, a variety of trade barriers that have been put up unnecessarily.
And I think Israel can serve as a model for many countries who ought to do the same. The two also spoke about regional security, including concerns over Turkey's growing role in Syria and future plans for Gaza.
The visas for at least three dozen international students and alumni from several top California universities have been revoked. The Trump administration cited their involvement in anti-Israel protests.
Stanford and several University of California campuses confirmed the actions,
which follow Secretary of State Marco Rubio's announcement
that 300 foreign students would be removed for sparking unrest.
Several schools claim the move has left students in limbo
with limited explanation from federal officials.
A new Trump administration task force seeks to protect female athletes from what it calls the pernicious effects of gender ideology in school programs. Daily Wire White House correspondent Mary Margaret Olihan has the latest.
The Education and Justice Department say the new Title IX special investigations team will fast-track enforcement against schools that allow men to compete in women's sports. Education Secretary Linda McMahon says that this is the women's rights issue of our time, while Attorney General Pam Bondi calls it a top priority.
The move follows Trump's executive orders to keep men out of women's sports and to defend children against what the White House calls gender ideology extremism. Officials say the task force will ensure that women's civil rights are upheld and violators are held accountable using the full force of federal law.

That's Old Glory Bank. In a horrific turn of events Sunday, four kids were attacked with a meat cleaver by a relative.
Police say an 11-year-old called 911 from a locked room, prompting NYPD officers to kick down the door.
The girls, ages 8 to 16, are in serious condition but are expected to survive.
Here's NYPD's commissioner explaining what officers saw when they arrived.
Once they entered, they encountered a man standing near the entrance, holding a large meat cleaver covered in blood, and they could see blood on the floor and the walls of the hall. The officers ordered the man to drop the weapon several times.
He refused and advanced towards them. Two officers discharged their firearms, firing seven total rounds between them and striking the subject, ending the threat.
A new bill in New York would prevent police from conducting routine stops and searches for low-level violations. Currently, police are able to stop and search vehicles over things like broken taillights, expired tags and registrations, window tints, and the smell of marijuana.
Such searches are often used to uncover more serious crimes. In fact, one such search nabbed serial killer Joel Rifkin, who had the body of a victim in his car at the time he was stopped for a missing plate.
Supporters of the bill say it's necessary to promote racial equity as Black and Latino drivers are stopped at higher rates. But opponents, including law enforcement, say it's dangerous and unprecedented.
And Trump hosts the LA Dodgers at the White House and Florida takes on Houston tonight in the college basketball championship. Here are some sports news highlights as Crane & Company co-host David Cohn.
The Florida Gators will take on the Houston Cougars tonight for the NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship.
Florida advanced in the Final Four by defeating Auburn 79-73, while Houston came from behind in an upset win over the Duke Blue Devils. The Cougars erased a 14-point deficit in the final eight minutes to win 70-67.
To Major League Baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers met with President Trump at the White House today to celebrate their World Series championship over the New York Yankees last October. The president singled out several players, including Shohei Ohtani, for becoming the first major leaguer to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season.
All year, the Dodgers faced down adversity. You entered the playoffs battered and bruised, but not broken.
