The Supreme Court sides with Trump on immigration raids, another fatal stabbing shocks the nation, and Cracker Barrel comes under fire again.

I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire executive editor John Bickley.

It's Monday, September 8th, and this is Evening Wire.

The Pentagon is stepping up its war on drug cartels with a potentially pivotal role for Puerto Rico to play.

Defense Secretary Pete Hagseth made an unannounced visit to the island today as the U.S.

weighs launching counter-narcotics flights and even deploying fighter jets from Puerto Rico.

The move follows last week's strike in the Caribbean that President Trump said killed 11 narco-terrorists aboard a smuggling vessel from Venezuela.

The U.S.

has already amassed at least eight warships in the region.

Officials say more strikes are possible, with Vice President J.D.

Vance calling it the highest use of America's military.

The Supreme Court has cleared the way for President Trump to continue immigration raids in California.

Daily Wire Washington editor Tim Rice has more.

In the 6-3 decision, justices allowed federal agents to keep using their current profiling process, which allows them to consider race and ethnicity when detaining a suspect for possible deportation.

The ruling overturns a block from a lower court judge who claimed the practice likely violated constitutional protections against unreasonable searches.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissented sharply, warning that the policy makes Latinos in low-wage jobs fair game.

But Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote that ethnicity can be a relevant factor when combined with others.

The court's decision strengthens Trump's push for record deportations, even as protests and lawsuits mount in Los Angeles.

A man in Alabama is potentially facing the death penalty after he allegedly killed a beloved Auburn veterinary professor.

Police say 59-year-old Dr.

Julie Gard Schnelly was stabbed while out walking her dog in a nearby park on Saturday.

Her body was later found in a wooded area.

Authorities arrested a 28-year-old suspect the next morning, charging him with two counts of capital murder during a robbery and kidnapping, which carried the possibility of execution.

Schnelly was remembered as a bright light by Auburn colleagues and students.

She leaves behind her husband, children, and a grieving university community.

After widespread outrage, GoFundMe has pulled down fundraisers for the ex-convict seen on a video stabbing a Ukrainian refugee on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Daily Wire reporter Megan Basham reports.

The GoFundMe legal defense pages for the suspect DeCarlos Brown Jr., who had been arrested at least 14 times before taking out a knife and stabbing Irina Zarutska to death, prompted severe backlash against the platform.

One of the pages said it was raising money for Brown's legal fees in order to, quote, fight against the racism and bias against our people, a reference to the murder suspect being black.

Another page portrayed him as the true victim, saying he was, quote, failed categorically by the judicial system and the mental health services of North Carolina, and as such is not entirely to blame for what happened.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Charlotte, Democrat Violet, has released a statement blaming the horrific attack on a lack of social safety nets and claiming that there was no way to, quote, arrest our way out of issues such as homelessness and mental health.

The mayor went on to make clear that she is, quote, not villainizing those who struggle with their mental health or those who are unhoused.

New York City mayoral frontrunner Zoron Mom Dani laid out a pitch for keeping the Big Apples top earners in the boroughs.

Higher taxes will directly improve your life.

Here's the exchange between Mom Donny and Al Sharpton on MSNBC.

It is one good mistake.

In part by showing them that asking them to pay more in taxes would increase even their quality of life.

Because when you ask New Yorkers, what is it that is making them feel uneasy in this city, you often hear from them about the cleanliness of our city, the safety of our city, the affordability of our city.

We are not asking to raise these taxes for the sake of it, because we know that it's not just a fiscal policy that takes somebody from New York City to somewhere else.

As we covered this morning, Mom Dani is leading the race in almost every poll.

We are in an intense war against terror on several fronts.

President Trump has issued an ultimatum to Hamas, release the remaining hostages or suffer the consequences.

Trump issued the threat in a post on Truth Social over the weekend.

The president said that his post would be the last warning to the terror group to release the hostages.

He declared, quote, Everyone wants the hostages home.

Everyone wants the war to end.

The Israelis have accepted my terms.

It's time for Hamas to accept as well.

I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting.

This is my last warning.

There will not be another one.

The pressure from the White White House comes as Israel has ramped up military operations in the enclave.

A federal appeals court today upheld the $83 million defamation damages ruling against President Trump.

Daily Wire senior editor Joel Niedler has more.

A federal jury in Manhattan held the president liable for defaming writer E.

Jean Carroll, claiming he damaged her reputation.

This came after a civil jury found Trump liable for sexually assaulting Carroll in the 1990s and awarded her $5 million.

A spokesman for Trump's legal team team said, quote, the American people stand with President Trump as they demand an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system.

The president will reportedly ask the Supreme Court to consider his case.

Tensions inside the Trump administration boiled over last week as Treasury Secretary Scott Besant reportedly threatened to punch federal housing finance chief Bill Pulte during a heated exchange.

Sources say Besant exploded after learning Pulte had criticized him to President Trump.

The feud highlights divisions over housing finance and the Federal Reserve, with Besant urging caution on firing Jerome Powell, while Pulte is pushing for a Fed shakeup.

It's not the first dust-up for Besant.

He reportedly scuffled with Elon Musk earlier this year.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said that those involved in the Biden Autopen scandal must face accountability after the release of a startling report.

Daily Wire reporter Zachuel has details.

According to Axios, new records revealed that people within the Biden administration were concerned with the Autopen being used to sign thousands of pardons just days before the former president left office.

One of those granted clemency in the final days of Biden's first term was a murderer.

Comer said the new information shed light on a, quote, historic scandal with massive repercussions.

He added that the House Oversight Committee is finishing up its investigation into Biden's use of the AutoPen.

President Trump also blasted the Biden administration's use of the Autopen, calling it, quote, one of the biggest scandals ever.

Cracker Barrel employees are revealing more unsettling information about the chain.

According to the New York Post, the restaurant initiated a variety of cost-saving measures earlier this year, like serving reheated, day-old biscuits and meatloaf.

The revelations about the downgraded food quality come just weeks after the brand weathered an embarrassing rebranding blunder.

Fortunately, the negative publicity prompted the restaurant giant to scrap the cost-saving measures and bring back fresh-cooked menu items as a way to lure back customers.

A 10-year-old Phillies fan found himself at the center of a viral feud over a home run ball that landed in the stands on Friday.

Video footage shows the boy's father, Drew Feltwell, scrambled to retrieve the ball after it landed in an empty seat.

After gifting the ball to his son, Lincoln, the pair was verbally accosted by a middle-aged female Phillies fan demanding that they give her the ball.

The female fan, who has not been publicly identified, claimed that she was the rightful owner of the ball because she was sitting closest to the empty seat where it landed.

In a bid to de-escalate the situation, Feltwell requested his son give the woman the ball.

Philly's team members later learned of the events and invited Lincoln and his dad to meet the team and receive personalized memorabilia.

And a wholesome moment broke out at the Nebraska Akron football game on Saturday night.

After the Cornhuskers shut out the Akron Zips 68-0, tight end Luke Lindenmeyer proposed to his girlfriend Kaylin Storovich on the field.

And she said yes.
