Israel launched a strike on the Gulf nation of Qatar Tuesday, targeting a group of Hamas leaders gathered in Doha to discuss a ceasefire plan for Gaza.
Hamas says five of its members were killed in the attack, but its senior officials survived.
President Trump was asked about the Israeli attack on a U.S.
ally during an evening out in Washington.
I'm not thrilled about the whole situation.
It's not a good situation.
But
I will say this, we want the hostages back, but we are not thrilled about the way that went down.
Trump says he'll have more to say about the matter on Wednesday.
Qatar has played a key role in Gaza ceasefire talks.
The nation of Poland says its airspace was violated late Tuesday during a Russian strike on Ukraine.
More from NPR's Jeff Brumfield.
In a statement posted to X, the operational command of Poland's armed forces said that its airspace was repeatedly violated by, quote, drone-type objects.
The objects were detected as Russia was attacking Ukraine, the statement said.
In response, Polish and Allied aircraft scrambled.
Videos posted to social media appeared to record the sound of fighter jets roaring over eastern Poland.
Civilian aircraft were diverted, and the Polish military called on citizens in the area to remain at home while the operation unfolded.

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook can remain in her job pending court challenges.
A federal judge is blocking President Trump's attempt to fire Cook over alleged mortgage fraud.
The allegation came from Bill Pultey, who directs the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
Pultey alleges Cook declared two different properties as her primary residence.
According to a recent Reuters News report, some of Pulte's own family members, including his parents, have also claimed homestead exemptions on homes in two states.
New York City's congestion pricing problem program rather is having an impact.
From member station WNYC, Phil Corso reports that there were fewer drivers on Manhattan's busiest streets.
Since January, nearly 18 million fewer vehicles have entered entered Manhattan's congestion zone compared to the same period last year.
That's a 12% drop, according to state officials.
The toll is $9 during peak hours for most drivers heading into Lower Manhattan.
Governor Kathy Hochl and the MTA say travel times into the zone are faster, with the Holland Tunnel 36% quicker and the Brooklyn Bridge 13% faster than the period before the fees took effect.
Traffic injuries are down 15%, and more people are taking mass transit.
The Trump administration is challenging the program in court, but a judge has temporarily blocked that effort.
For NPR news, I'm Phil Corso in New York.
The Supreme Court says it will soon hear arguments over presidential authority to impose sweeping tariffs.
The import levies imposed by executive order will remain in place pending a hearing in November.

Ethiopia has opened a massive dam that's designed to boost the East African nation's economy and support its electric grid.
The nearly $5 billion project is located on a tributary of the Nile River near Ethiopia's border with Sudan.
Egypt has long opposed the project, citing concerns that it would deplete Egypt's share of Nile waters.
The Conjuring Last Rites resuscitated the weekend box office to become the top horror movie opening ever.
NPR's Mandalique El Barco has details.
In the latest conjuring movie, The Fourth in the Franchise, paranormal investigators and demonologists demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren confront a family's haunted house.
There's an evil here.
Bobby Bagby Ford, who heads BNB Theaters, says the supernatural horror movie became a surprising smash hit.
It really became a cultural event, and so we're really excited.
It really changed the trajectory of September.
Analysts had predicted a sleepy September at the box office after a somewhat slow summer, but on opening weekend, Conjuring Last Rites conjured $194 million globally.
The momentum could continue next weekend with the anime movie Demon Slayer Infinity Castle and in the fall, Wicked for Good and the new Avatar movie Fire and Ash.
