Speaker 1 This week on the NPR Politics Podcast, a new NPR poll shows the president's approval at a new low, and Democrats up 14 points on the question of who should control Congress next year.

Speaker 3 The last time the gap was this wide, a year later, Democrats won 40 seats.

Speaker 1 But Democrats aren't exactly popular either. We'll break it all down on the NPR Politics Podcast.
Listen this week on the NPR app or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Nora Rahm. A senior Russian official says a potential summit between President Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin remains on Moscow's agenda.

Speaker 3 NPR's Charles Mainz has details.

Speaker 5 In an interview with a Russian policy journal, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Rypkov said the prospect of a new Trump-Putin meeting remained.

Speaker 5 I wouldn't rule anything out, said Rypkov, who characterized ongoing dialogue between Washington and Moscow as impressive.

Speaker 5 Those comments come amid a new push by President Trump to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

Speaker 5 President Putin has loosely endorsed Trump's draft plan, which critics say skews heavily in Moscow's favor.

Speaker 5 Trump and Putin last met for a hastily scheduled summit in Alaska last August that failed to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough.

Speaker 5 Then Trump complained the Russian leader still wasn't ready for peace and canceled a potential follow-on meeting last month in Hungary. Charles Mainz in Pure News, Moscow.

Speaker 3 The COP30 climate talks ramped up in Brazil today. Participants agreed to increase money paid to poor nations to help them combat climate change.

Speaker 3 The agreement does not include language to move away from the use of fossil fuels, which drive global warning.

Speaker 3 Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene posted online yesterday that she's resigning from the House of Representatives in January.

Speaker 3 She was a strong supporter of President Trump, but has criticized him on some subjects, including his one-time resistance to the release of files relating to the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaker 3 Trump called her a traitor. Green says she's been loyal to the president.

Speaker 6 Standing up for American women who were raped at 14 years old, trafficked and used by rich, powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the president of the United States, whom I fought for.

Speaker 3 She said she doesn't want her district to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against her brought by the president.

Speaker 3 Wall Street had a rough week as investors sought reassurance about whether the artificial intelligence intelligence boom is more than a bubble, NPR's Maria Aspen reports.

Speaker 7 All eyes were on NVIDIA this week. The chip company has become a bellwether for the artificial intelligence frenzy, and it's now the most valuable company in the world.

Speaker 7 On Wednesday, it dropped another blockbuster report card, telling investors it made another $32 billion in profit in just three months.

Speaker 7 But will all the computer chips NVIDIA is selling actually transform the economy? Investors are increasingly worried that all the money companies are spending on AI won't pay off in the long term.

Speaker 7 That would be a rude awakening for the stock market, which has been hitting record highs this year thanks to the soaring value of tech stocks, and particularly AI-related companies.

Speaker 7 Maria Aspen, NPR News, New York.

Speaker 3 This is NPR News.

Speaker 3 The Supreme Court is allowing Texas to use its recently redrawn map of congressional districts districts while it decides its legality. A decision could come as soon as Monday.

Speaker 3 A lower court had blocked the map, finding it's likely to be found unconstitutional because it draws the lines to eliminate districts where black and Latino voters make up the majority.

Speaker 3 Parts of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip are closed off today as racing series F1 is in town to host its annual Grand Prix event.

Speaker 3 The race is a welcome boost for a city that has seen a decline in visitor numbers. NPR's NPR's HJ Mai has more.

Speaker 4 Las Vegas is the third and final U.S. stop on this year's F1 calendar.
McLaren teammates Lander Norris and Oscar Piastri are in a race for the title.

Speaker 4 With a win tonight, current championship leader Norris would take a large step towards securing his first driver's title, with only two races left in the season.

Speaker 4 British driver Norris took pole position in a rain-soaked qualifying session Friday night.

Speaker 4 Australia's Piastri will start fifth, after struggling with the challenging conditions along the temporary 3.8 street course.

Speaker 4 With no rain in the forecast, race organizers expect more than 100,000 fans in attendance for tonight's race and over 300,000 across the events three days. HJMI, NPR News, Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 In soccer, the women's championship will be held tonight in San Jose, California. It's the Washington Spirit versus Gotham FC.

Speaker 3 This will be the 44th time that the two teams have met, more than any other two teams in league history. I'm Nora Rahm, NPR News in Washington.
