Speaker 3 For many years, I chose to pay an absurd amount of money for what I'd consider mediocre wireless service. What's worse is I knew there had to be better options out there.
Speaker 4 Thankfully, now I know the best option, Mint Mobile.
Speaker 3 If you're still overpaying for wireless, it's time to say yes to saying no.
Speaker 4 At Mint Mobile, their favorite word is no. No contracts, no monthly bills, no overages, no hidden fees, no BS.
Speaker 4 I was able to transfer my current phone and number, and within minutes, I'd cut my wireless bill in half and was getting better service than ever before.
Speaker 3 Mint Mobile offers high-speed data and unlimited talk and text delivered on the nation's largest 5G network for just $15 a month. Are you ready to say yes to saying no?
Speaker 4 Make the switch at mintmobile.com slash Tenderfoot. That's mintmobile.com slash Tenderfoot.
Speaker 3 Upfront payment of $45 required, equivalent to $15 a month.
Speaker 4 Limited time new customer offer for first three months only.

Speaker 7 You've gone.
Speaker 7 Radio Rental.
Speaker 5
Welcome to Radio Rental. Hi, everybody.
Come on in. It's me.
It's me. It's Ricky Lee.
Speaker 5 And you are here at Radio Rental, a video rental shop with a collection of some of the scariest stories you are ever going to hear. Now let's get right down to business today.
Speaker 5
I know you want to hear one of these. Beg me for it.
Say Ricky Lee gave it to me.
Speaker 2 So I'm going to do it.
Speaker 5 Here it is.
Speaker 9 In the afternoons, I work on an organic farm and I run a farmer's market for them on Saturdays. So I'd had a great day at the farmer's market.
Speaker 9 I had sold out of everything and I really wanted a pair of overalls. So I went over to Goodwill to see if I could pick some up.
Speaker 9
When I got to Goodwill, I got my cart. I was shopping.
Everything was fine.
Speaker 9 When I was over in the housewears aisle,
Speaker 9 I felt someone watching me.
Speaker 9 I just had a very strange sensation that someone was staring at me.
Speaker 9 I turned around and standing directly behind me was this girl, about 18 to 25.
Speaker 9 She was very pale. She had long dark hair.
Speaker 9 She didn't have anything in her hands, no purse, no phone, anything.
Speaker 9 She was dressed all in black, and she was just standing there looking at me.
Speaker 9 Her eyes were black.
Speaker 9
So black and scary when she looked at me. Almost like her pupils were dilated and she was just staring.
It was just a soulless stare right directly at me.
Speaker 9 She never spoke. She never moved.
Speaker 9 I've been a nurse for over 20 years. When I looked at her, My first thought was not that she was having a medical emergency.
Speaker 9 She didn't appear to be on drugs. She didn't appear to be having any kind of medical episode.
Speaker 9 She did not look alive.
Speaker 9 My first thought was that there was something wrong, that she did not belong on this plane or on this earth.
Speaker 9 She just chilled me to the bone.
Speaker 9 Every muscle and bone in my body was saying to get away from her as quickly as possible. So I started pushing my cart away from her.
Speaker 9 And not only did I want to get away from her, I I wanted to get out of that store.
Speaker 9 And that is when the thing that really scared me happened.
Speaker 9 I just turned my head to the left and where she had been in the aisle behind me,
Speaker 9 suddenly she was in the next aisle over right beside me.
Speaker 9 It was like she had teleported over there.
Speaker 9 There was no way possible she could have moved that fast.
Speaker 9 It wasn't human.
Speaker 9 One moment she was behind me and the next she was beside me and across a different aisle.
Speaker 9 I may have taken four steps away from her before I turned and looked and she was right beside me across the other aisle. Absolutely humanly impossible for her to have moved that fast.
Speaker 9
I knew that there was something wrong with her. I knew I didn't want to be anywhere near her.
I was very frightened and I decided I would just leave.
Speaker 9 When I was leaving the store, I happened to run into my niece and her family. On my way out, as I was walking out the door, they were coming in.
Speaker 9
I normally would stop. I might have spent some time with them, but I had to go.
I didn't want to be in that store with her anymore. We just stopped and said hello.
Speaker 9
I was surprised to see them because they're not usually in my town. Said hello to them.
I hugged the kids, and then I left.
Speaker 9 I just had to leave.
Speaker 9 I was trying to forget that that had happened and trying not to think about her.
Speaker 9 I never turned around to look to see where she was. I didn't want to know where she was going to be next.
Speaker 9 I was worried that she was the Grand Reaper and that she had come for me. I was worried that maybe she was bringing me a message
Speaker 9 from beyond that I wouldn't want to hear. I thought that perhaps
Speaker 9 she was attached to something in the store.
Speaker 9 I had a lot of different theories, a lot of them,
Speaker 9 one of which being that it was just my imagination.
Speaker 9 I got home and I live alone and I knew if I thought about that all night, I wouldn't sleep all night. So I have a box in my head with a lid.
Speaker 9 I put it in that box and I shut it and I tried not to think about it for the rest of the night.
Speaker 9 It was probably about nine o'clock. I had really done a good job of trying not to think about it because it was time to go to bed.
Speaker 9 I got a text from my niece's husband and it said,
Speaker 9 Really odd question,
Speaker 9 but did you happen to notice a girl in Goodwill today,
Speaker 9 probably about 18 to 25, long black hair, dressed all in black, looked emo.
Speaker 9 I was more afraid than I had been all day long.
Speaker 9 I had been able to convince myself that that was probably my imagination.
Speaker 9 But as soon as I got the text from him, I knew that someone else had seen her too.
Speaker 9 And I knew that someone else knew that there was something wrong with her.
Speaker 9 It just confirmed all of my fears, all of my suspicions.
Speaker 9 Instead of texting, I picked up the phone to call in.
Speaker 9
And that's when I told him, don't talk, don't say anything. I don't want to hear what you have to say.
Because I knew he was going to confirm that whatever I saw was really, really bad.
Speaker 9
I didn't know where she was. When I left the store, I refused to to look back.
I didn't know if this was something that had attached itself to me and had come home with me.
Speaker 9 I didn't know anything about it. I just knew that it was something very, very bad and that he was about to confirm that for me.
Speaker 9
We had a conversation about it anyway. He asked me, had I seen her, and I told him that I had.
He said that he had seen her, that he immediately was frightened, that No one else had seen her.
Speaker 9 His wife thought he was crazy and thought he was making it up, and he was calling me to confirm. And our descriptions were exactly the same.
Speaker 9 The way she looked, the way her eyes were black, the dreadful feeling she gave us, our stories match point by point.
Speaker 9 I don't think he had any idea that I was going to say yes. I saw her too.
Speaker 9
I hung up the phone. I made sure all the doors were locked.
I had all the lights on. I lit candles.
I said prayers.
Speaker 9 I was scared. I was scared for the rest of the night.
Speaker 9 I ended up staying up very, very late that night because I was too scared to go back to sleep.
Speaker 9 I considered calling the Goodwill and asking if anyone there, any of their employees, had seen her and seen about security footage, but then again, I'm not sure if I would want to see that again.
Speaker 9 I never made that call.
Speaker 9 I never wanted to lay eyes on her again.
Speaker 9 I know that she's still out there. I know that she was real.
Speaker 9 I still don't know what she wants and that's something that if I allowed myself to think about it too much might keep me up for the rest of my life.
Speaker 9 I think that some people are more sensitive to things than others, and I think that some people are more open to seeing things than others.
Speaker 9 I just happen to be able to see her, and I think the same thing about my niece's husband. I think that she was present in the store, whether her belongings had been donated and she wanted them back,
Speaker 9 or she was there for somebody else, and I just happened to see her.
Speaker 9 I think I'm just one of those unlucky ones who gets glimpses of the other side sometimes.
Speaker 5 Oh my word,
Speaker 5 that was just weird.
Speaker 5 You know, like, you ever see like those old women that have those old fat Chihuahua dogs that have the frosty cataract eyes?
Speaker 5 And be honest, you're scared to look at the dog in the face because I swear they're trying to hypnotize you. That's what they're trying to do.
Speaker 5 So you got to be careful, you know, when you're out like at the grocery store and you go around the corner and there's a cataract dog right there, you almost run over, probably would have got sued for all you were worth.
Speaker 5 You know what I'm saying. All right, let's do some maths.

Speaker 2 Psych!
Speaker 5 No, I'm kidding you. No, I'm going to play you one more story.
Speaker 5 Remember, I'm the fun uncle.
Speaker 11
My husband and I had planned a ski trip to Searchmont Resort. It was a bit last minute, so we were kind of going to just road trip it.
I'd taken the day off work,
Speaker 11 but we did leave about mid-afternoon from our home. search mods like a six-hour drive
Speaker 11 we folded down the back seat and then we had our boards our winter gear comfies boots helmets like all of that back there and honestly we were pretty unorganized and throwing it back there so it was just a mess
Speaker 11 We have the back seats folded down, all our gear is jumbled in the back.
Speaker 11
And it was both of our first times going through Sault Ste. Marie.
Marie.
Speaker 11 There's not
Speaker 11 much going on.
Speaker 11 Typically, if we head up north, it's in the summer months, but yeah, the winter, it was a bit of a ghost town.
Speaker 11 It's January, there's just nobody out, there's no tourism, it's completely empty. So, crossing the border just fell off.
Speaker 11 Everything just had a gray like hue to it.
Speaker 11 It felt very empty, like
Speaker 11 like no one's home here.
Speaker 11
We ended up finding just a super small restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner and it was just at the point we're like, okay, well, we saw the city.
Let's head out.
Speaker 11 When we walked out, it kind of looked like everything was like closing down and we didn't see anybody when we were leaving.
Speaker 11 The downtown area was just kind of eerily quiet.
Speaker 11 Randomly, while we were walking up to the car, I just took a picture of my husband while he was opening the door. Just to note how empty the city was, it just seemed so off.
Speaker 11
No one's on the street. There's no other cars by ours.
Like, our car's the only one parked in front of it for miles. You see, like, this beautiful fresh snow, but nothing else around.
Speaker 11 It's a Friday night and just no one.
Speaker 11 So we crossed the border at about 7 p.m.
Speaker 11
It's full night at this point. It's 8 p.m.
There's nothing going on so we just decide to get to the resort. The roads are shit.
It's going to take us a long time
Speaker 11 but we might as well get on the road and get it over with.
Speaker 11 We decided to drive Mikea thinking it would be fine for the conditions but the roads were absolutely a nightmare
Speaker 11 the roads were absolute shit and our little crossover was spinning out at every turn.
Speaker 11 It's quite beautiful, but a bit scary for the vehicle we are driving.
Speaker 11 So about 20 minutes into the drive, my husband, who is driving, starts to wiggle and squirm.
Speaker 11 He rarely complains about anything ever.
Speaker 11 And that's why, like, when he finally said something, like, something's bothering me,
Speaker 11 it just seemed so off.
Speaker 11 I asked him what's wrong and he says I'm not sure I just feel like something keeps pushing on my seat
Speaker 11 it's driving me crazy
Speaker 11 he said he was feeling the pull of his seatbelt but it was when
Speaker 11 the whole seat started pushing forward he felt like something was actually wrong with the car
Speaker 11 but he's just like squirming and fidgeting and finally I stop and I'm just like what's wrong you know and he said that something just keeps pushing on the seat and I don't know what it is
Speaker 11 I look and it's completely dark in the car I reach behind him I try to move this bag and I can't figure out what it is mind you it was so dark in the car so it was like hard to see anything but um
Speaker 11 it looked like the outline of my ski jacket which is a white jacket and I thought maybe
Speaker 11 maybe he'd went through like some of our gear bags and just kind of of pulled it out while he's moving stuff around or whatever.
Speaker 11
And then I kept just trying to like move this like bag, mass, whatever. And I was like pushing it, pulling it, adjusting it.
And there was like no give and I couldn't get it out of the way.
Speaker 11 I was like, I don't know what it is. It's like a dead body or something.
Speaker 11 I turned the dome lights on in the car, turned back around to see in the backseat of my car is a body laying face down.
Speaker 11 I was a bit in
Speaker 11 disbelief at first.
Speaker 11 I'm not actually seeing this.
Speaker 11 My eyes will adjust and I'll realize what I'm actually looking at, right?
Speaker 11
Like the bags are just positioned weird where it looks like a body. This can't be a body.
And then I just kept staring at it.
Speaker 11 Then the body sits up.
Speaker 11 All I saw was this like old, haggard face.
Speaker 11 It looked like the witch from Snow White.
Speaker 11 And her mouth was just drooped open.
Speaker 11 And it just scared the shit out of me.
Speaker 2 I scream.
Speaker 11
I scream. I scream at the top of my lungs.
Nate pull over the car. Nate pull over the car.
Nate pull over the car.
Speaker 11 I actually blacked out.
Speaker 11 My last memory is
Speaker 11 of her sitting up
Speaker 11 and I was paralyzed.
Speaker 8 I freaked out.
Speaker 11
I remember just screaming and that's it. Nate was the one who said that.
I said, pull over, pull over, pull over, because he had no idea what was going on.
Speaker 11 He stops the car. I jump out.
Speaker 11 He gets out of the car, grips open the backseat, and he sees the person and aggressively shouts, get the fuck out of the car.
Speaker 11 Yeah, it was just absolute chaos.
Speaker 11 They try to crouch back in the vehicle and they demand that they get away from the car.
Speaker 11 Initially, I thought that this was a man, however, once they began speaking, I realized it was a woman.
Speaker 11 Once you realized it was a woman, I just felt like bad for her, right? And like, I kind of wanted to like
Speaker 8 help her.
Speaker 11 Her name was Christina.
Speaker 11
We're not mad at you. You just scared the living shit out of us.
And then she laughed.
Speaker 8 There we were in the middle of winter, waiting for the police to come.
Speaker 11 40 minutes later, two patrol cars arrived.
Speaker 11 She actually went running up to the first officer, and it was this guy, and he kind of like asked what was going on.
Speaker 11 And while we were talking to the second officer, I looked back and I saw that the first officer was doing like the search.
Speaker 11 And that's when I saw him pull out the knife. And that's when I was just like, holy shit.
Speaker 11 Once Nate and I got back in the car, we gave each other a giant hug and just kept going on a loop about how insane this was.
Speaker 11 She could have like stabbed us if she would have felt threatened in any way, right?
Speaker 8 Anything.
Speaker 11 At the restaurant, I took a couple of pictures of my husband while he was opening the door and the craziest thing is christina is in these pictures we didn't realize it so he when he was opening the door he was looking back at me instead of like at the car and so it's like he didn't even like look in the backseat because i did that
Speaker 11 it's crazy because you know that's one of like the ultimate horror movie scenes, right? You're driving and someone's in your backseat, but that doesn't actually happen.
Speaker 11 And for some some whatever reason, I just kind of have it in my head that there's no way that this will happen twice, right?
Speaker 11
So I don't feel fearful. I don't overly obsessively look in my back seat.
I think
Speaker 11 I'm so glad it worked out and that we're okay, but
Speaker 11 there's no way that this could happen twice, right?
Speaker 5
No, no, no, no, sir. Mm-mm, no thank you.
Hey, if you're gonna hitch a ride, do it the old-fashioned way. Big thumb out on the side of the road.
That I can respect.
Speaker 5 But hey, don't be sneaking up on old Ricky Lee because I got lightning fast reflexes and I cannot be held accountable if I do a karate chop or a judy chop and knock you right into the next dimension.
Speaker 5 Ad brake.
