Speaker 2 Think you know your breaking point? If you're a woman with weak bones due to osteoporosis after menopause, sadly, you may not.

Speaker 2 Women can lose up to 20% of their bone density within five to seven years after menopause, making bones weaker and more likely to break.

Speaker 2 And after the first fracture, we're five times more likely to break another bone within a year. It could happen from a simple slip or just bending to lift a bag of groceries.

Speaker 2 Don't wait for a breaking point. Visit bonebreakingpoint.com to learn about how osteoporosis medications can reduce the risk of fractures.

Speaker 3 Hey, it's Nikki, the host of the girlfriend's Untouchable. I'm so glad that you've chosen to listen to this story about my hometown, Kansas City, Kansas.

Speaker 3 But I just wanted to give you a heads up that this episode will touch on some difficult topics, including violence, murder, suicide, and sexual assault. And there are a handful of cuss words too.

Speaker 3 So if you or someone you love has been affected by any of the themes in the show, we've left some links in the description that offer resources and support. Take care of yourself.

Speaker 3 The summer of 1994 felt like it would last forever. The days were either marked by glaring sunlight or the kind of thunderstorms that cloaked Kansas City in an ominous fog.

Speaker 3 But the weather paled in comparison to the grief casting a shadow over Nico Nico Quinn's life in the months following her cousin Danielle's murder.

Speaker 17 It was like it was a dark cloud over us all, and nobody really didn't say too much about it. Everybody just drank.

Speaker 17 I thought by drinking that it would make me forget or make me feel like it's a dream.

Speaker 3 But it wasn't.

Speaker 3 After the brutal shooting, Nico had been relocated to a housing complex, but she was surrounded by the men she thought were responsible.

Speaker 3 Nico was trying to move through the grief by spending time with her family when she got an unexpected call.

Speaker 17 My cousin called and was like, hey, this white lady came down here and two white men.

Speaker 3 He told her that at least one of them was a police officer.

Speaker 17 I said, what? He said, yeah, I got a card here for you. I got two of them.
You need to come down here and get in touch with these folks. And I'm like, all right, bro, I'll be down there.

Speaker 17 So I drove down there and got the cards, and it was Terra Moorhead

Speaker 17 and

Speaker 17 Galoopski's card.

Speaker 3 Galoopski is the police officer investigating Danielle and Donnie's murders. And Tara Moorhead?

Speaker 3 In 1994, she's an assistant district attorney for Wyandack County in Kansas City, Kansas.

Speaker 3 Nico drives across town and makes her way to the DA's office. It's a brick building with a circular drive.

Speaker 3 She walks through the glass lighting doors and makes her way down the hallway until she finds her seat.

Speaker 17 I was sitting there waiting on her.

Speaker 17 She made me sit there in that waiting area for maybe like an hour, hour and a half.

Speaker 3 Eventually, Nico is shown into a conference room.

Speaker 17 It was just a table and chairs in there, a white room, and pictures and documents on the table.

Speaker 3 Seated on the other side is a smartly dressed woman.

Speaker 17 She was skinny, had a suit on, like a blazer, heels.

Speaker 17 She had blonde hair, a pointy nose, a long chin.

Speaker 3 Assistant District Attorney Tara Moorhead.

Speaker 3 Nico had no reason to be afraid of her, but she remembers Moorhead laying photos out in front of her. They gave her a chill.

Speaker 17 These pictures was the crime scene of her cousin Daniel's murder. Half of his face was gone.

Speaker 17 I told her I don't need to see them pictures because I seen it when it happened.

Speaker 3 There are other pictures that Men Nico recognizes.

Speaker 17 Pictures of my cousins and then of my uncle.

Speaker 3 And a photo of the boy they arrested for the double murder. Local school kid.
Lamont McIntyre.

Speaker 17 And that's what she started telling me that they had all the evidence knowing that Lamont did it. They had his clothing.
They had the gun. They had all this.
The same rigman roll that Galuski told me.

Speaker 17 She asked me, was it not tired of losing my loved ones? And don't I want somebody held responsible for killing my cousin?

Speaker 17 And Lamont did it. I said, we know who did it.
And I told her, monster.

Speaker 3 One of the dealers who had allegedly attacked Danielle just days before his murder.

Speaker 17 At first, she tried to draw me in like she was my friend or like she cared.

Speaker 17 And she said, Well, no,

Speaker 17 we got evidence. We know this guy did it.
We have the clothing. We have the gun.
We have all this evidence.

Speaker 17 And I said, Well, I don't care what you got. So, when she showed me the picture of Lamont, I said, No, he didn't do it.
And she said her little spill, and I left

Speaker 17 and I went home.

Speaker 3 Nico was confused. Why were they so insistent on saying that Lamotte McIntyre was the killer?

Speaker 3 According to Nico, Moorhead called her back into her office once the date for the preliminary hearing was set.

Speaker 17 So I had to go up there again and sit with her. And the same thing, same spiel about

Speaker 3 who did it.

Speaker 3 This time, Nico recalls that Moore had looked at her and said, You love your kids, right?

Speaker 17 Well, if you don't do what I tell you to do, I will go get your kids and I'll throw you in jail. Do you want to see your kids again?

Speaker 17 And then that's when the venom came out.

Speaker 17 I call her. A cobra.

Speaker 17 She went from being this kind person to being Evelyn in 2.2 seconds when I didn't give her or tell her what she wanted.

Speaker 3 I'm Nikki Richardson from the Teams at Novel and iHeart podcast. This is The Girlfriends, Untouchable.

Speaker 3 I got you.

Speaker 3 I got you, I got you, I got you, I got you. I got you.

Speaker 3 I got you. I got you.
I got you. I got you.

Speaker 3 I got you. I got you.
I got you.

Speaker 3 Episode 2. So help me God.

Speaker 3 In June 1994, 17-year-old Lamont McIntyre was in handcuffs.

Speaker 3 Instead of getting ready to go back to school, he was stepping into the county courthouse because he had been charged with a double homicide.

Speaker 5 So I had a preliminary hearing come up.

Speaker 5 That's the hearing where they see what kind of evidence they got on you to bound you over for trial or if there's enough evidence to hold you or charge or whatever you say you charged with.

Speaker 3 Overlooking the court was a public gallery. It kind of looked like a row of church pews facing the direction of the judge.
The The prosecutor, ADA Tara Moorhead, sat on one side.

Speaker 3 And the defendant, Lamont McIntyre and his attorney, sat on the other.

Speaker 5 I had all my family behind me, my father, my uncles, my cousins. Everybody was there.
That was my first preliminary here. That was my first time in that situation.

Speaker 3 Lamont had watched films and TV shows set in courtrooms, so he thought he knew what to expect.

Speaker 3 He thought he would hear the prosecutor deliver a compelling argument, followed by some kind of evidence tying him to the crime. But that's not how it went down.

Speaker 5 But preliminary hearing was like, it was a play, and I was the only one that didn't get a script.

Speaker 3 There were glaring plot holes, like the fact that the prosecution didn't appear to have any physical evidence.

Speaker 5 I didn't have no way of trying to identify what was going on with me. It was just happening.
I couldn't stop it. And

Speaker 5 it was just confusing. And my lawyer was like, is anybody can put you in the scene of the crime? I'm like, man, listen, I don't know the scene of the crime.

Speaker 5 There's nobody nobody can put me in nowhere because I don't have nothing to do with it.

Speaker 3 According to the prosecution, there were two witnesses who could.

Speaker 3 Lamont watched on as a black woman in her early 20s walked into the courtroom. She looked nervous and kept her head down.
The judge turned to Lamont.

Speaker 5 And he said, Do you know this lady? I said, no, I don't know the lady.

Speaker 3 That lady was Nico Quinn.

Speaker 17 I was very nervous because I've never had to sit there and do anything like that.

Speaker 3 It was Nico's first time seeing Lamont in person.

Speaker 17 Only time I seen Lamont was on pictures. And when I first seen him physically

Speaker 17 and I seen him at that table,

Speaker 17 I said, this dude is too tall and his ears is too big. He couldn't have hidden them ears under that hat.

Speaker 3 Nico knew the prosecution was going to ask her to pick out the man arrested on suspicion of murder.

Speaker 3 But now that she'd seen Lamont in real life, she knew for certain that he wasn't the man who had shot her cousin. Nico had to find Tara Moorhead and tell her that this was all a big mistake.

Speaker 3 In the recess, she went to go and find the prosecutor in a room nearby. Moorhead wasn't alone.
There were police officers in the room. But Nico still opened up about her reservations.

Speaker 17 I said the person that killed my cousins, you could see this much of their head over the car. They wasn't a tall person, they was a short person that killed him.
And I kept telling her that.

Speaker 17 And she pushed forward that Lamont was the one. And the other detectives kept saying Lamont did it.
And I could tell, no, he's too tall and his ears are too big. That was always my rebuttal to her.

Speaker 3 According to Nico, Moorhead didn't want to know.

Speaker 17 That's when she threatened me again,

Speaker 17 that she was going to throw my black ass in jail. She had sent a police to go get my kids, and I never see them again.

Speaker 3 Moore had allegedly threatened to charge Nico with contempt of court if she didn't comply.

Speaker 17 She crossed her hands like this, and she looked over at the officers, and she looked at me like,

Speaker 17 What'd I say? What did I just tell you?

Speaker 17 And I cried

Speaker 17 because I was upset.

Speaker 17 If I didn't say Lamont

Speaker 17 killed my cousin, I would not see my kids again, ever.

Speaker 17 And like I told her, you can throw me in jail. All that matters to me is my children.
The only love I had was the love for my children.

Speaker 17 And I was not finna give that up for nobody.

Speaker 3 When the recess ends, Nico is called into court.

Speaker 3 She glances over at Moorhead. Her head is spinning.
The woman before her is wealthy, respected, and well-educated.

Speaker 3 Who is going to believe a 21-year-old single mother from Quindaro over an assistant district attorney?

Speaker 17 I was young.

Speaker 17 I was in the streets. I wasn't educated on the law.
I wasn't educated on a lot of things. I have street smarts, but I didn't know that this woman could legally do this to me.

Speaker 3 After what feels like a lifetime, Nico is called to testify.

Speaker 3 She stands up and walks across the room, each step heavier than the one before.

Speaker 17 I walk so slow up there because I didn't want to do it.

Speaker 3 She puts her hand on a Bible and the oath is read out.

Speaker 17 Do you swear to tell the truth with nothing but the truth, so help you, God?

Speaker 17 I said I do.

Speaker 3 nico looks across the courtroom sees lamont his family the police officers and moorhead

Speaker 17 she asked me to point to him

Speaker 17 on this day didn't you say this person killed your cousin and i looked at her because i never said that lamont killed my cousin never

Speaker 17 she put her hand on her hip And she looked at me. She looked over at the detectives like,

Speaker 17 I could send them right now to go get your kids.

Speaker 17 Everything in me was saying, tell the truth, tell the truth, tell the truth. And I know it wasn't nothing but the Holy Spirit telling me to tell the truth.

Speaker 17 But at that time, I didn't understand those feelings.

Speaker 17 The only thing I could see was my children.

Speaker 17 And did I want to be explaining 20 plus years later to my children that I chose to tell the truth

Speaker 17 to lose y'all? y'all.

Speaker 17 I'm praying, Father, forgive me.

Speaker 3 Forgive me.

Speaker 5 She looked up at me and she pointed at me and said, that's him.

Speaker 17 I said,

Speaker 17 yes, on this day, that's who I said.

Speaker 5 I felt like. I was dreaming.

Speaker 5 At that moment, I felt like that wasn't me sitting there.

Speaker 5 I felt uneasy and I felt weird. It's like I was watching somebody else's life unravel like that.
It wasn't mine.

Speaker 17 Lamont was looking at me like I didn't do it. And when he stood up, I just cried.
I just cried. And I asked God to forgive me

Speaker 17 because I just ruined this man's life.

Speaker 3 Another witness takes the stand, Nico's neighbor, the one who called out Lamont at the murder scene.

Speaker 5 She comes on the stand, don't look at me. She sits down and the judge asks her, Do you see the man in the courtroom that committed the crime? For the first time, she looked up at me and pointed at me.

Speaker 5 And I was looking at her like so she can get a good look at my face, like, do you see who? And she sees me and pointed at me and said, That's him. And that's when I said, oh man, something's going on.

Speaker 17 The courthouse erupts.

Speaker 5 My whole family was like going crazy like what's going on something they're lying what's going on

Speaker 5 lamont's family had gone into court believing in him but with two witnesses to the crime testifying against him the room takes on an uneasy atmosphere they were shocked i think after they seen the preliminary hearing most of my family probably lost hope and faith in me after that because after that it was like They probably believe I probably did do that.

Speaker 3 But there's one person in the room who refuses to doubt Lamont's innocence. His mother Rose.

Speaker 3 As she watches the courthouse descend into chaos,

Speaker 3 she's reminded of a memory she had tried her best to forget. A traumatizing event from her past that she thinks is coming back to haunt her.

Speaker 3 Because years earlier, Rose had got caught up in the clutches of a predator.

Speaker 3 And it looks like that man, that police officer, has been following her and her family all along.

Speaker 3 It's the late 80s in Kansas City, Kansas. Rose McIntyre is a devoted mother of five, but she also loves going out into the town to dance and let loose with her boyfriend Greg.

Speaker 3 After a fun night out at a local club, she and Greg park up on the side of the road.

Speaker 3 Rose sees a figure approaching them. A flashlight shines through the window of the car.
It's a police officer. Rose says he showed them his badge and told them his name.

Speaker 3 Detective Roger Golubski.

Speaker 3 Rose has given permission for her words to be read by an actor as she describes what happened to her next.

Speaker 17 Detective Galewski ordered me to get out of the car and come back to his car, which was parked right behind.

Speaker 17 I was too scared to say anything, but Greg became very upset, saying to Galewski, what are you doing? This is my girlfriend.

Speaker 3 Detective Galubski threatened Greg, telling him that he would get arrested if he didn't shut up.

Speaker 3 Terrified and not knowing what to do, Rose followed Golupski's directions to go and sit in the passenger seat in his unmarked police car.

Speaker 17 Golubski told me I was a nice-looking lady, then made clear that he expected to get sexual favors from me. I felt frightened and powerless.

Speaker 3 He told her that if she didn't want Greg to be arrested, she had to meet him at the police station the next day.

Speaker 17 Galoopski told me to come late, between 9 and 10 p.m., and I did as he said.

Speaker 17 I was stunned and terrified, but I felt powerless to say no.

Speaker 3 So the next evening, she drives across the city and down Minnesota Avenue to the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

Speaker 3 It's a big brick building with marble pillars at the entrance and tall windows up above.

Speaker 3 An officer who was minding the desk buzzed her in.

Speaker 17 Golubski's office was right by the door, and I went in.

Speaker 17 He shut the door behind me.

Speaker 17 Golubski then sat down behind his desk. He began talking and told me he liked black women.
He said he could make it hard or make it light for me and that things would go better for me if I complied.

Speaker 17 At that point, he slid his chair out from behind the desk and turned the lights out.

Speaker 3 According to Rose, Galoopsky sexually assaulted her.

Speaker 17 It's horrible.

Speaker 3 She's too scared of how he might retaliate to try and fight back, but she feels a flash of hope when she notices the office door opening. A crack of light enters the room.

Speaker 17 I saw a white uniformed officer in the doorway.

Speaker 3 For a moment, it seemed like somebody might intervene.

Speaker 17 But when the officer saw Golupski and me, he simply backed out and shut the door. Golubski never stopped what he was doing, and the officer himself did not act surprised.

Speaker 17 Although there were other police around, no one came to my assistance.

Speaker 3 Eventually it ended. Golubski let go.
But Rose's ordeal wasn't over.

Speaker 17 He told me that he wanted an ongoing sexual relationship with me.

Speaker 17 As soon as Galoopski said I could leave, I left. I was terrified and sick to my stomach and wanted to get home as fast as I could.
I felt dirty and totally humiliated.

Speaker 17 A man who had total power over me had treated me like a whore and forced me to submit to his sexual desires. I kept what happened to myself.

Speaker 3 Rose couldn't tell her boyfriend. because she worried that Galoopski might arrest him if she spoke out.

Speaker 3 She was too scared to tell her friends and family because she feared what might happen if they ended up on Golubski's radar.

Speaker 3 And she couldn't report what had happened to the authorities because Golupski was the authority.

Speaker 17 After that awful day, Golubski harassed me for weeks, often calling me two or three times a day. He told me that he wanted me to come back to his office.

Speaker 17 He wanted to do it again with me and wanted me to be his woman.

Speaker 17 I dreaded Golubski's calls and continued to fear him, but sometimes I would talk to him on the phone just to placate him, so he would not force me to come back down to see him at the police station.

Speaker 17 He had total power, and I was terrified that he would try to force me again to provide sexual favors.

Speaker 3 After a few months of what Rose recalls as near constant harassment, she found a way to break free. She relocated, changed her phone number, and tried her best to move on.

Speaker 3 She focused her energy on being a good mother to her children and dedicated her time to rebuilding her life.

Speaker 3 After a few years passed without seeing Golupski, Rose thought she was in the clear.

Speaker 3 But then, in 1994,

Speaker 3 he forced his way back into her life

Speaker 3 by arresting her son, Lamont.

Speaker 3 Lamont's preliminary hearing hearing took place in June, and the case went to trial in the fall.

Speaker 3 It was a harrowing experience for him and his entire family, but the process was especially tough on Rose.

Speaker 17 I sat in the hallway the entire time. Both sides had named me as a witness, so I was not allowed to be in the courtroom.

Speaker 3 But neither side ended up calling her to testify.

Speaker 17 So I ended up being isolated for no reason. Sitting in the hallway during the trial was horrible.
I felt very scared and worried.

Speaker 3 The trial lasted four days and then the jury went to deliberate.

Speaker 3 After what felt like a lifetime of sitting in that hallway, Rose was eventually allowed back into the courtroom to hear the verdict.

Speaker 3 The room stills to silence. Lamont stays in his position.

Speaker 3 The jury comes back into the room and sends their representative up to the front to reveal Lamont's fate.

Speaker 5 When the jury came back with a guilty verdict, I screamed.

Speaker 5 I was just screaming like, y'all got the wrong person.

Speaker 5 Y'all convicting an innocent person. I didn't do anything, right? I started yelling, and I felt somebody grab me real tight from behind.
I was shocked, and I turned around. It's my mother.

Speaker 3 Rose throws her arms around her son.

Speaker 5 She was grabbing me and she was holding me so tight, and she was crying. crying and I felt her pain.

Speaker 3 Back then, Lamont didn't know anything about his mom's past with Golubski. To him, they were just the cries of a mother about to lose her son.
But there was so much more to Rose's pain.

Speaker 3 She'd spent years worrying about what Golubski might do to her if their paths crossed again.

Speaker 3 But this was so much worse.

Speaker 3 Her 17-year-old son was being marched away to a prison cell.

Speaker 3 She was overcome by grief.

Speaker 3 But there was another emotion making its way through her body. A sickening sense of suspicion and then guilt.

Speaker 3 Because the more she thought about it, the more she began to wonder, had Detective Galewski used his power to target her son

Speaker 3 as punishment for her decision to break

Speaker 21 Some moments in your life stay with you forever. In a special segment of On Purpose, I share a story about a book that changed my life early in my journey.

Speaker 21 and how I was able to find the exact same edition on eBay years later. There are certain books that don't just give you information, they shift the way you see the world.

Speaker 21 I remember reading one when I was younger that completely changed me. Years later, I found myself thinking about that book again.

Speaker 21 I wanted the same edition back, not a reprint, not a different cover, that exact one. So I started searching, and that's when I found it on eBay.
That's what I love about eBay.

Speaker 21 It's not just a marketplace, it's a place where stories live. Shop eBay for millions of finds, each with a story.
eBay, things people love.

Speaker 21 Listen to on purpose on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Speaker 3 It's 1994 and Lamotte McIntyre is on his way to prison for a crime he says he had nothing to do with.

Speaker 3 Nico Quinn, who'd been intimidated into testifying against him, feels awful.

Speaker 3 She's sure he's innocent, but in trying to protect her children, she's been forced into helping put someone else's child behind bars.

Speaker 3 She walks around Kansas City, overwhelmed with guilt and despair.

Speaker 17 I remember walking down 7th Street.

Speaker 17 I remember that route like it was yesterday.

Speaker 17 And I passed the store and the guy at the store was asking me how I was doing. I was like, he's okay.
I just want to go home.

Speaker 17 I got home

Speaker 17 and

Speaker 17 I remember my youngest son greeted me at the door.

Speaker 17 And I kind of, you know, kissed him.

Speaker 17 I walked upstairs,

Speaker 17 closed my door. I didn't want my my kids to see me,

Speaker 17 and I just sat on a bed and I just cried.

Speaker 17 And I had some prescription of

Speaker 17 antidepressants that the doctor had given me because I couldn't sleep.

Speaker 17 And I took a handful of them.

Speaker 17 And I heard stop,

Speaker 17 And it scared me.

Speaker 17 And I stuck my hand in my mouth and I just started throwing up because

Speaker 17 I thought about my kids.

Speaker 17 And I heard the Holy Spirit say,

Speaker 17 who's going to fix it?

Speaker 17 If you die, who's going to fix it?

Speaker 17 And from that day forward, I worked on trying to make my wrong right.

Speaker 3 Lamont had been convicted on two witness statements, including Nico's. Not solid evidence.

Speaker 3 She thought that recanting her testimony might help fix things, so she went back to the person who she says coerced her into giving it,

Speaker 3 the assistant district attorney.

Speaker 17 I said something to Tara Moorhead about what she was doing to me wasn't fair and it wasn't right. And she asked me, Who was I gonna tell? Who's gonna believe me over her? That's what she told me.

Speaker 17 And that feel like somebody knocking all of the air out of you for her to tell me that. Because I'm looking at her being a white woman, being a prosecutor, and me, a black girl.

Speaker 17 Who's gonna believe me?

Speaker 3 We reached out to Tara Moorhead and her lawyer to ask her about Nico's claims of witness intimidation. She did not wish to provide a comment.

Speaker 3 Back then, Nico wasn't ready to give up hope. She thought that if she could find a way to understand the legal system, she could help fix things.

Speaker 17 I would read a lot. I would go to the library and look at different

Speaker 17 legal books and try to find out a way.

Speaker 17 I talked to so many different people on how I can go about trying to get Lamont home.

Speaker 3 Nico was a mother, so she couldn't help but imagine the pain that Lamont's mom, Rose McIntyre, was experiencing.

Speaker 17 I remember when she used to work at the liquor store

Speaker 17 on 10th Street, and I would go down there and I would talk to her sometimes. I would see her walking up and down Quinturo late at night.

Speaker 17 I would follow her just to, you know, kind of make sure she was safe or whatever that nothing happened to her out there um

Speaker 17 and i just would cry because i felt like i destroyed this woman's life and all i could do was ask god for forgiveness and wanted to make it right

Speaker 3 after being given two life sentences Lamont was sent to a prison called Hutchinson Correctional Facility, a large state prison in Kansas.

Speaker 5 I cried and I sat there and I just couldn't believe I was there and I couldn't leave and I was stuck. And that just convicted me of two murders.
I didn't know how to process that.

Speaker 5 I was sad and I couldn't get out of it. I didn't know what to do.
I didn't know what to think.

Speaker 3 He called home to talk to his mother.

Speaker 5 My grandmother answered the phone. So I said, where my mother at? She said, she's not here.

Speaker 5 And she started crying. And I'm like, what do you mean she's not here? She said, she's in the mental hospital.

Speaker 5 So my mother had a breakdown. She couldn't take it.

Speaker 3 Nico went to visit Rose when she got out.

Speaker 17 I was telling her what happened, and then me and her began having a relationship.

Speaker 17 We would talk more.

Speaker 17 I would be down there trying to help her, you know, get dressed or if she was having a bad day, trying to help her get what she was always together. And I'd try to make her laugh.

Speaker 17 And we had a real good relationship at that time.

Speaker 17 And I would just pray for her.

Speaker 17 I would pray that God would take that pain away from her, that he would give her some type of strength to continue to go through this.

Speaker 17 I just wanted to make things right with her.

Speaker 3 Nico recanted her testimony again, this time in a sworn affidavit so Lamont's lawyer could argue that he deserved a new trial. When that motion was denied, Nico began her own campaign.

Speaker 17 I start seeing little things on TV

Speaker 17 about, you know, people's family members getting murdered and they would go to like Montel Williams, Queen Latifah.

Speaker 3 It was the 90s, long before an online petition or social media campaign could draw attention to a case of injustice.

Speaker 3 So Nico wrote letters to the most famous people she could think of, hoping one of them might be able to help put a spotlight on Lamont's case. She kept Rose updated.

Speaker 17 When I would talk to her, I would tell her, hey, I'm writing Oprah, I'm writing Jenny Jones, Ricky Lake, Peralto.

Speaker 3 She sent a bunch of letters, but nothing came of them.

Speaker 17 And I just felt like our story would never get out there. Nobody would ever know what happened in Kansas City, Kansas, and what we went through and what we was going through.

Speaker 3 Lamont was defeated. Nico felt guilty.
And Rose was inconsolable.

Speaker 3 Each of their lives had been devastated by Roger Golubski. But what they didn't know at the time was that this was just the beginning, and they weren't alone.

Speaker 3 Golubski had many, many more victims. and his methods were darker than they could have ever imagined.
But they were going to get to the bottom of it, fight for justice, and finally uncover the truth.

Speaker 3 Coming up on the girlfriends, Untouchable.

Speaker 5 The Ron Jigalewski thing popped up in my lawyer's face.

Speaker 17 My phone immediately started ringing.

Speaker 20 People saying, hey, I know that guy. I know what he did to this person.

Speaker 6 This is horrific. This is horrible.

Speaker 22 He did not receive a fair trial.

Speaker 5 There's only one reason why you do that.

Speaker 18 To protect corrupt cops.
