This was a massacre and a master class.
California Governor Gavin Newsom held a major press conference in Los Angeles where he called out Donald Trump in no uncertain terms.
Now, this press conference was about bringing healthier foods within the Los Angeles Unified School District, but California Governor Gavin Newsom then touched upon a number of other very critical topics, calling out Donald Trump, calling out the GOP, calling out their lies about the shutdown, folks.
This is how it's done.
Watch California Governor Gavin Newsom talk about how Magamike and Republicans are lying over and over again and that they are the ones who are responsible for this disastrous government shutdown and for harming America so much each and every day.
Here, play this clip.
I don't think it needs any deeper explanation.
They are lying.
They made it up.
And it just shows how, I mean, not only...
sort of desperate and pathetic to knowingly lie to the American people, particularly people in positions of power and influence, the Speaker himself, not just the President of the United States, though that's just, you know,
every minute of every hour of every day.
But it also shows how wrong they are and the overwhelming now bipartisan opposition to these massive
increases in healthcare costs that are going in effect in January.
And by the way, I mentioned 600,000 people in the state of California.
We think that is a conservative number.
We actually ran three different surveys on this to come up with that number.
We put that out, published that a number of months ago.
It's over 4 million people that they conservatively estimate nationwide.
We were looking just at the Anthem bronze plan.
This is something familiar with people on the California Exchange, the bronze plan.
Right now, if you're on the bronze plan, it's about $307.
It's going to go up to $964.
$307 a month to $964.
We're talking about 100% increase across the board in the aggregate, but some people are living with triple-digit increases.
This is jaw-dropping, and people are finally starting to understand that.
That's why they're desperate to paint a different picture.
But again, they're lying.
Next, California Governor Gavin Newsom calls out Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans for withholding billions of dollars to California to deal with the disastrous fires.
Governor Newsom says when it comes to disasters in Louisiana or red states, as a taxpayer, he's happy and as the governor of California, happy to help all states in the United States, whether red, blue, or purple.
But the fact that Donald Trump and MAGA Mike Johnson are not providing relief to California because it's a blue state is so.
utterly despicable.
Watch this.
You know, I hope it gives some closure as it relates to some of the anxiety that may have been felt.
How did this happen?
Who's responsible?
Can this happen again?
What lessons we learned?
So at least from that perspective, a little bit of closure.
That said, it's cold comfort for those who lost their homes and are coming through the recovery.
What I do say is that we need to really now, I think, call out.
why the President of the United States and Congress has refused to provide support to those that have been victimized by this arsonist
and this devastation.
$39 billion for months and months and months.
And the President of the United States has said nothing.
Speaker of the House said he's not interested in helping the American people that were devastating, lives torn asunder here in Los Angeles.
I mean,
where is the accountability in that respect?
Where's the spirit that defines the best of this country to be here for fellow Americans in the time of recovery, uncertainty?
It's been months, months, not a peep from the President of the United States, not a word from Speaker Johnson.
I was proud as a taxpayer, as an American, to have Speaker Johnson's back when his district, in his state, was devastated by floods.
I said the same thing to Greg Abbott as we sent him personnel and support because he needed it with the devastation of the flood.
And I'm proud that our tax dollars, disproportionately California's tax dollars, will be used to help support the recovery
in Texas.
That's what makes America great.
Not a word from the Republican Party, not a word from Speaker Johnson, not a word from the President of the United States.
I applaud the work that initiated under the Biden administration in this investigation and the work that this administration did as it relates to finding this person and ultimately pushing these charges and making these charges.
But I find it shameful that they haven't done a damn thing for the thousands of people who lost their homes and whose lives were devastated from this disaster.
Not a word from the President of the United States.
Next up, California Governor Gavin Newsom talks about what it really means to make America healthy, not the BS that's spewed by RFK Jr.
and Donald Trump, who have done so much to hurt science, to hurt the health of the American people.
Governor Newsom says, let's talk about real tangible steps that we're taking right here in California.
No BS, real results here.
Play this clip.
One of the things that's unfortunate about what's happening across this country is while they're asserting one thing in terms of making America healthy again, they're doing something radical on the other side of that.
The most significant cutbacks, the most consequential rollbacks of health care coverage in American history, with premiums that are about to double 97% on average
for Californians.
We expect 600,000 Californians to lose their health coverage in January, 600,000 that can no longer afford health coverage if the Big Beautiful Bill and its impacts on Obamacare and the elimination of these subsidies go away.
And so you can't do one without the other.
And I think what makes me most proud of what the Assembly members are doing and what our Secretary has done is that we have a comprehensive strategy to healthcare.
And then, by the way, includes the environment, which is a huge part of the air we breathe, the water we drink.
So it's just not good enough
to make a case against ultra-processed foods unless you're making a case.
for healthcare delivery system and preventative care and making a case for integrating these values and these principles.
So I think California is a model.
We're hardly perfect.
No one's naive.
There are tremendous challenges, but this is a big part of our effort.
And final point on this before we open up to questions.
We opened shortly after we became the first state in the U.S.
to provide universal health care regardless of pre-existing conditions, ability to pay, and your status.
We also opened an Office of Healthcare Affordability.
It's not gotten the kind of attention I think it deserves.
It's actually created some some numeric targets to reduce health care costs.
It's also a component part of CalRX and the work we're doing to start providing our own drugs like insulin.
We're going to, by the way, make a big announcement on that next week.
A little bit of a preview in that space.
We've done it for naloxone.
We're looking at the diaper space, et cetera, to lower the cost, not subsidize.
cost, but to actually lower the cost of production and cost to the taxpayers in the state.
But the Office of Healthcare Affordability has a numeric target as well for healthy foods.
And I don't think there's anything comparable anywhere in the country that we are truly focusing on health care, not sick care.
We're truly focused on a preventative care model.
And a big part of that is the healthy foods initiatives.
And a big part of that is the work that is going to be entrusted over the course of the next few years at the Department of Public Health to identify what are currently thousands and thousands and thousands of these additives that, by the way, do not exist in the European Union, in many other parts of the globe, that somehow we've allowed to exist and persist here through neglect.
And California will be leading the nation.
FDA will do their part.
I don't have confidence ultimately where that goes, but I do have confidence where these folks go over the course of the next few years.
So I just want to add that to broaden, I hope, the appeal and the comprehensive nature of what we're advancing and announcing here today.
The holidays are here and that means businesses everywhere are on the hunt for seasonal help.
We're talking everything from haunted corn maze workers to real bearded Santas to snowplow drivers and much more, of course.
And that means people with special skills, experience, or licenses are suddenly in very high demand and not always easy to find.

And then Governor Newsom has asked a fairly tricky question about liability at the state, county, and local level for fires.
And I wanted to show you this clip because this is how a professional, this is how a responsible leader handles the questions, not to politicize a very delicate and sensitive issue for any governor or leader, you know, talking about having the state get sued or counties get sued.
And Governor Newsom says, look, we're going to have an independent process.
We're looking at it.
Of course, we've now are increasingly learning that what happened in the Palisades, we knew before, but was an act of arson.
But we have to approach this independently, objectively, and follow the data and take responsibility where responsibility needs to be taken, but be guided by the facts.
Here, play this clip.
Well, I just, I think they found the arsonist, and
we'll look at the investigation, what backed up this indictment, and then we'll look at the facts and judge on the basis of those facts.
And there's a very, look, when it comes to the issue of of fire liability um i know a thing or two going back to paradise and the process that unfolds there and how this is done without political interference and how the facts uh need to be pursued without any bias or political interference and i just want to know the facts period and ultimately then we'll judge culpability those facts are not only being assessed as it relates to this indictment by the federal government of this alleged arsonist, but obviously those facts are currently being reviewed as it relates to the fire in Altadena as well and so I just want to leave it at that until we get all those details Governor Newsom was very happy to announce that California is the first state to define ultra-processed foods and phase them out of school meals he goes DC politicians can talk all day about making America healthy again but we've been walking the walk on boosting nutrition and removing toxic additives and dyes for decades now governor Newsom on his social media platforms utterly, ruthlessly calling out Donald Trump the way you have to do it, the way California Governor Gavin Newsom has been leading the way and standing up to this authoritarian regime and also mocking the authoritarian regime.
It's one of the ways you have to deal with authoritarian regimes like Donald Trump.
So Governor Newsom posts the following: We found the Portland war zone, Pete.
We found the Portland War Zone, referring to Pete Hegset, the Secretary of Defense, former Fox weekend host, who now unlawfully calls himself a Secretary of War.
Here, play this clip.
But Portland is unbelievable what's going on.
Portland,
the
destruction of the city.
Well, I'm going to look at it now because I didn't know that was still going on.
This has been going on for years.
Then Governor Newsom posts this video.
Portland is war-ravaged.
Exclamation point.
He's being sarcastic.
Send in the California question mark, question mark, question mark.
National Guard.
Why the California National Guard?
Then he shows the scenes in Portland and contrasts it to Caroline Levitt's horrible press conferences here.
Play this clip.
President Trump will end the radical left's reign of terror in Portland once and for all.
The president has directed Secretary Hagseth to provide all necessary troops to protect war-ravaged Portland and any ICE facilities under siege from attack by Antifa and other left-wing domestic terrorists.
Governor Newsom then posts comforting in response to Donald Trump being asked a question during that weird press conference yesterday with those right-wing influencers.
Trump was asked, have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?
And Donald Trump's response was, suspending who?
Suspending who?
Just contrast the press conference I showed you earlier with Governor Newsom.
Articulate, smart, good delivery, cohesive sentences to what I'm about to show you.
Just play this clip of Trump that Governor Newsom is reacting to.
Let's play it.
I also have two questions for you, if I may.
Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending MBS Corpus to not only deal with these insurrectionists across the nation, but also to continue rapidly deporting illegal aliens?
Yeah, it's been suspending who?
MBS Corpus.
I don't know.
I'd rather leave that to Christie.
What do you think?
No, sir, I haven't been a part of any discussions on that.
Then Governor Newsom shows this photo from two days ago in Portland, Oregon, when Christy Noam went on top of the building near the ICE facility and looked down upon people.
One person in a chicken suit and like eight other people there, and then some members of the press.
And Christine Noam was like calling that a war zone, like eight to 12 peaceful people who were there.
Governor Newsom writes, cosplay Christie is in Portland.
Hide yo dogs.
And then here's a photo of Portland's war zone.
And again, Governor Newsom is mocking Donald Trump, of course.
Governor Newsom then writes, Dozy Don is back.
Too much Tylenol.
Governor Newsom in that same photo says, honestly, thought this was a still image when I first started watching them.
I'm not going to even play the clip, but it's Donald Trump looking like he's falling asleep while he is sitting there.
Governor Newsom from his official account, also posts this photo of Donald Trump as Marie Antoinette with a golden bidet, not pictured.
And Governor Newsom says, No health care for the stupid peasants, but look at the Queen's golden office.
Obviously, all Donald Trump talks about is, look at all my gold, look at all my gold.
Governor Newsom then posts, Donald Trump is keeping the government closed so he can kick 600,000 Californias off their health insurance.
Governor Newsom then posts a video of MAGA Mike Johnson holding the Bible and praying during the government shutdown while he rips away the health care of tens of millions of Americans.
And then Governor Newsom responds with Proverbs 14, 21, whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.
You know, MAGA Mike and all of these MAGA Republicans are such fake Christians.
I mean, whether you're religious or not, I'll just take religious out of it.
They're such fake people.
They lack empathy.
They inflict pain upon people.
I mean, you're ripping away people's health care.
Look, if you want to come up with a plan, roll out a plan that gives everybody health care for free or prove you're going to make it cheaper.
I'd be open to listening to that idea.
But to just rip away people's health care and take away their subsidies that keep the costs low, it's unforgivable.
It's just not being a good person, setting aside religion.
Governor Newsom then responds to this article about how Donald Trump's mid-cycle redistricting push is on the verge of stalling in Indiana.
Top state Republican officials have warned the White House.
The cautionary note shared by three Republicans close to the deliberations is prompting Vance's second trip in three months to the state to mount a hard push, one of the people said.
As Governor Newsom writes, turns out rigging elections is not popular.
Keep up the pressure.
It is working.
And here's the thing.
You just got to stand up to Trump.
You got to stand up to these bullies.
You got to stand up to these authoritarians.
You have to.
We have no choice in the matter.
And when you stand up to them, they back down.
Take a look at Democrats in the House and Senate finally standing up, taking a principle stand against this regime.
It's working.
Look when Governor Newsom stands up to this regime.
It's been working.
Look at the governors who stand up to this regime.
It's working.
It's what you got to do.
Also, GOP, MAGA, Trump, livid at Zach Bryan, country singer.
ABC writes, Zach Bryan is sparking controversy after sharing a clip with New Music that mentions U.S.
immigration and customs enforcement raids and speaks negatively about ICE disappearing migrants and citizens off the street and sending people to concentration camps and also invading other cities.
Governor Newsom writes, so the GOP has meltdowns about comedians, cracker barrel, and songs.
Total snowflakes.
Here's an image of the Texas National Guard currently in Chicago, Illinois.
Governor Newsom says, crime is out of control in Texas.
Texas homicide rate is 39% higher than California.
But Greg Abbott, he's busy sending his National Guard to Illinois for stunts.
Stop invading other states and clean up your own damn mess, Greg.
And finally, Governor Newsom posts this image right here.
This is one of those images that I think sum up this dark period in American history, the dictatorship period, where Trump's ice Gestapo attacking an unarmed priest with mace and pepper spray in his face.
Governor Newsom says, Trump's America.
