The United States Supreme Court was established on the principles of fairness, dignity, and impartiality.
The honorable the Chief Justice and the Associate Justice.
It is a uniquely American body, an apolitical council of elders who are single-mindedly devoted to the Constitution.
I'm just fucking with you.
The Supreme Court is a shit show,
always has been.
Actually, what the Supreme Court does is ideological judicial lawmaking all of the time.
I'm Leon Maypoch.
You may know me as the co-creator of two history podcasts, Slowburn and Fiasco.
I want to tell you about a new show I'm working on.
It's called Five to Four.
It's all about how much the Supreme Court sucks.
If you watch the State of the Union, they're all just sitting there in robes.
Like they're just like a completely different kind of person than anyone else.
Exactly.
Wear a fucking suit.
Your hosts are three pissed off lawyers, Michael, Rhiannon, and Peter, aka Twitter's The Lawboy.
Nine justices that compose the Supreme Court are not the smartest people in the country.
No.
We are.
That's right.
Every week, Peter, Rhiannon, and Michael are going to take on a legally dubious Supreme Court decision about a hugely important issue.
Affirmative action, gun rights, gerrymandering, campaign finance.
And they're going to dissect these cases from every angle and pretty much just tear them apart.
Kennedy says, this is a direct quote, there's no such thing as too much speech.
Shit.
From Westwood One and Prologue Projects, 5-4 premieres in February, wherever you get your podcasts.
God save the United States and this honorable court.
