Speaker 1 All right, guys, given that this is the 300th episode of the show,

Speaker 1 and we have a big topic, a big, huge topic at hand. Biggest one.

Speaker 2 We're talking 300 different games.

Speaker 1 Yeah, we're talking 300 different games for our 300th episode. I think we may want to just like suss out how long this is going to take us

Speaker 1 by just simply, without any content, counting from one to 300 as fast as possible so that we can get like just like even like a frame of reference of the fastest possible version of this show that we can do.

Speaker 1 Yes.

Speaker 2 Okay. So are we collectively doing it? Are we doing it one at a time, like alternating or

Speaker 2 all doing it together?

Speaker 1 Okay, I didn't, okay. Let me, let me, okay, let me hold on.
I think, no, I think we should each.

Speaker 1 You know what, Nick, that's an interesting idea. So how about instead it's we collectively count to 300.
So we each take a number. Got it.
And then, you know, just feel out the space.

Speaker 1 And whoever goes next, just

Speaker 1 feel out the space and then say the next number.

Speaker 1 And if we, if, if at any point we like talk over each other, we'll just start over or we can figure out the rules as we go.

Speaker 2 Okay, great. So we're kind kind of giving, we're giving a number, but we're also giving a space for someone else to give a number.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 But if we talk over each other or say the same number, we have to start over. Got it.
Sure, sure. Okay, that works great.
That works great. So, uh, let's go.
Let's go. Um,

Speaker 2 one. Oh, fuck.
Fuck. Fuck.
Oh,

Speaker 1 wait, really?

Speaker 1 That's pretty good. Okay.

Speaker 1 Uh, let's just, all right, let's start again. All right.

Speaker 2 One. Great.

Speaker 2 Two.

Speaker 2 Perfect.

Speaker 2 Three.

Speaker 1 I think I think we're going to be able to get away from that. Yeah, this is great.

Speaker 2 We're going to rhythm now. Four.

Speaker 2 Five. Five.
Five. Fuck.
Okay. Okay.

Speaker 2 Okay. Great.
Two. No.
Fuck. One.
Two. One.

Speaker 2 Fuck.

Speaker 1 It's going to be fine. Because this is only like an exercise to get us kind of like.

Speaker 2 You know what? And honestly, I'd say, like, as part of our team, even though she's not always on mic, I think Rant should participate. So she'll be on it.

Speaker 2 I'm going to honestly make it easier just having more brains involved. I agree.
I agree.

Speaker 2 Here we go. All right.
All right. One.
two,

Speaker 2 three. Three.
Fuck. No, no, no.
I forgot Ranch was playing.

Speaker 2 You just, you just

Speaker 2 got.

Speaker 2 I forgot.

Speaker 2 We'll reset one.

Speaker 1 Certainly. Okay.

Speaker 2 Two. Three.
More.

Speaker 1 Wait. It sounded like somebody's at the same time.

Speaker 2 I don't think so. I don't think so.

Speaker 1 Five.

Speaker 2 Six.

Speaker 2 Seven. Eight.
No.

Speaker 2 One. Two.
Three. Four.
Five. Six.

Speaker 2 seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen,

Speaker 2 fourteen,

Speaker 2 fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty-one,

Speaker 2 fuck, fuck.

Speaker 2 Fuck. All right, all right.

Speaker 1 This, I don't think we have to be worried. I don't think this indicates anything about how long the show is going to be.

Speaker 2 No, it's going to be great.

Speaker 1 But it's a great way to get into group mind.

Speaker 2 I feel warmed up now. I feel ready to go.
All right, all right. What do you do?

Speaker 2 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, fifteen six seventeen eighteen nineteen twenty twenty twenty one twenty two three four twenty five twenty six seven twenty two twenty nine thirty third one thirty two thirty third fourth for the five thirty six thirty thirty eight thirty nine forty four

Speaker 2 thirty four four five forty six forty seven forty five forty nine fifty fifty one fifty two fifty three four five fifty five six fifty seven fifty eight fifty nine sixty sixty one sixty two sixty two three sixty four six five six sixty seven sixty eight sixty nine seventy seventy one seventy two seventy three seventy four seventy five seventy eight seventy seven seventy eighty ninety eight one eighty two eighty eighty four eighty five eighty six sixty seven eighty eight eighty nine ninety ninety one ninety two ninety three ninety four ninety 96, 97, 99, 99.

Speaker 2 100.

Speaker 1 He didn't need to make that face one.

Speaker 2 He didn't need to make that face. They couldn't see the face.

Speaker 2 It's a 300 fest as we commemorate 300 episodes by discussing the top 300 games according to Metacritic. This is GET Played!

Speaker 1 Welcome to Get Played, your one-stop show for good games, bad games, and every game in between.

Speaker 1 I'm...

Speaker 2 Oh, no.

Speaker 1 Oh, God. Let's try again.
Welcome to Get Played, your one-stop show for good games, bad games, and every game in between. It's time to get played.

Speaker 1 I'm your host, Heather Ann Campbell, along with my fellow host, Nick Weiger.

Speaker 2 I'm uh oh fuck, let's start over.

Speaker 2 I'm Nick Tiger Weiger, along with Matt Apodaka. Huh?

Speaker 2 Fuck.

Speaker 2 You fucking idiot.

Speaker 2 You saw them fuck up twice?

Speaker 2 You're the easiest one.

Speaker 2 Fuck.

Speaker 2 Hello, everyone. Hello,

Speaker 1 everyone, and welcome to the premiere video game podcast, where this week we are celebrating our 300th episode.

Speaker 2 Tonight, we die in hell.

Speaker 2 It's 300, baby. Yeah.
Game in hell? What is the alt?

Speaker 2 Tonight. Tonight we game in hell.
Tonight we game in hell. Yeah.

Speaker 2 I haven't seen it in a long time. My memory of that movie when I saw it when I was a teenager, the movie fucks.
It rules. I re-watched it pretty recently.

Speaker 2 You know, it's not a perfect film, but it is like

Speaker 2 the appeal of Zack Snyder is very much at its core. A bunch of buff guys running around.
I love that.

Speaker 2 I love the super,

Speaker 2 the super buff guys wearing next to nothing, just fucking heating, like hitting things because they can't kiss each other.

Speaker 2 Let's fucking go, dude. Hell yeah.

Speaker 2 Jerry Butler.

Speaker 1 Yeah,

Speaker 1 which is also funny because they could kiss each other.

Speaker 2 It was harder. It would still be a cool movie.

Speaker 1 Apparently, they had to shave the women's heads to make them look more like dudes because the culture was so hyper-masculine that the only way that the dudes would fuck the women was if they looked like dudes.

Speaker 2 That's a history lesson for you here on the 300th episode of Get Played, Player.

Speaker 1 It took 300, 300 episodes, and we couldn't even get through the intro.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's alright. I did, you know, whatever.
It's okay. Finally, tuned machine.
It's in many ways bigger and better than ever. What are you playing?

Speaker 2 You kind of

Speaker 2 jumped the gun there, Resonator Merchant. But I guess we could get into it.
We could talk about some video games we're playing now. No, you're doing great.
You're doing well.

Speaker 2 Thank you for being a part of the show for so long.

Speaker 2 You've been with us through most of the run, I feel like. Yeah, at this point.
Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 I really should have gotten my life together and gotten a second gig by now.

Speaker 2 You've been listening to too many sort of like hustle culture grind set podcasts. You don't need to have multiple streams of income as long as you're happy with no, that's true.
That's a good thing.

Speaker 2 We're here on Madison Avenue where we're looking for the hypest hustle culture side hustle.

Speaker 2 And I'll tell you what, there aren't any.

Speaker 2 It's New York City, baby.

Speaker 2 Suck a dig.

Speaker 2 Bomp,

Speaker 2 What is happening?

Speaker 2 What's going on today? I don't know.

Speaker 2 I came in too early. Yeah.
You get what's wrong.

Speaker 2 I'll sit on the side. You guys can do the ramp.
I'll explain for me. I had some of these little snacks here that are courtesy of headgum.
These are drizzleicious

Speaker 2 rice

Speaker 2 mini rice cakes reimagined. So

Speaker 2 the concept of the rice cake before was impossible to comprehend. This is a reimagining of the rice cake.
These are small rice cake bites, and these are covered in sort of a s'more drizzle.

Speaker 2 Yeah, only 90 calories, and there's 21

Speaker 2 only 90 calories per 21 pieces. And I have to say, these were fine.
How many pieces we got in there? You know, I ate the whole bag. I can't speak to how many there were.
Is it 90?

Speaker 2 Is it per package or is it per serving? It says per serving. Okay.
Hopefully, how many servings per package? Because that's where they get you. One serving per container.
Oh, okay. Okay.

Speaker 2 So that is a holistic 90-calorie indulgence. That's one of those ones where I'll have a thing like a drizzle-ish.

Speaker 2 I've never had the actual drizzle-ishes, but I have those sorts of things before, and I'm like, this is the snack I have when I'm not having the snack I really want. Yeah, I wanted something.

Speaker 2 You want like cookies or something. How you're taking a banana.
Yeah, and you're having rice cakes with, you know, some fucking

Speaker 2 cacao drizzled on. I understand the complications with having bananas sort of in an office setting.
Everybody's here all the time. And God knows.
Right.

Speaker 2 Basically a ghost town anytime we're around here. And let alone what if an ape gets on the loose.
Well, if an ape gets on the loose, you might be able to placate this angry ape with a nanner.

Speaker 2 That's true. Actually, it might be helpful for subduing them.
Yeah. Sort of like Chris Pratt Blue style in the Jurassic World movies.

Speaker 2 We'll talk down on you because we should have some bananas just for that contingency. Yeah.

Speaker 2 We never know when an ape might attack.

Speaker 2 I can't believe that snack is legal.

Speaker 2 It kind of, you know what?

Speaker 2 They're made with chia, quinoa, and flax. And cheese, apparently.
Yeah. Well, yeah, that's the thing that's, they really got.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it looks like that the s'more stuff was sort of cummed on it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Chizalicious.

Speaker 2 Yeah, and that's almost what the word is, actually. Yeah, drizzlelicious is really, I mean, it's just a couple letters off from drizzle.
Right on the line. Yeah, really.

Speaker 2 And look, we're not, this is not SpawnCon. We're not talking, you're not here to talk about this.
We didn't get for the 300

Speaker 2 sponsored content. Oh, I thought it was like a convention.

Speaker 2 No, oh, like a Spawn convention? S-P-A-W-L. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fucking awesome. He fucking swapped.
I feel sick as hell.

Speaker 2 Spawn just walking around killing everybody. John Laguazamo meet and greet.
Let's fucking go. Hell yeah.
I'd go to a Spawn anytime.

Speaker 2 But anyway, I was going to say, you know, that might have just enough sugar to really pump me up. Wow, okay.
Feeling a little silly. That's great.
A little punchy. Well, I'm feeling a little silly.

Speaker 2 But that's good energy, though, because I think we're going to, we have a fun topic today that we are going to get into.

Speaker 2 We're going to spend some time on, and hopefully it won't create this unwieldy, overlong episode. We're just going to have to kind of, we'll get to it right now.

Speaker 2 Let's start with what we always begin with, which is what the Resident Evil Merchant was about to queue up a little bit earlier. Let's talk about some video games we're playing now.

Speaker 2 It's what are you playing? One, two, three.

Speaker 2 What What are you playing?

Speaker 2 It's me, the Resident Evil Merchant. I'm here to ask the question I always ask.

Speaker 2 I used to ask, what are you buying? And now I ask, what are you playing?

Speaker 2 Man of a dog, what are you playing?

Speaker 2 Thank you, Resident Evil Merchant.

Speaker 2 It's nothing. Thank you.

Speaker 2 I fell off of a vowed, not for any particular reason. I am planning to get back to it.
It's just been a little busy. Okay.

Speaker 2 I am still trucking along in um pokemon unbound and really enjoying that and just sort of like it's it's just so interesting i've talked about how interest how nice it is that like some developers got together you know some like some hobbyist developers got together and made and made this and it's it's just so even more visually engaging than some of the other games i've played in the pokemon series as of late like

Speaker 2 they could

Speaker 2 i almost like wish that they would just like go back to this aesthetic instead, the 2D sprites, right? Sure. Because it is like the 3D stuff is just not, it doesn't look as good.

Speaker 2 It just doesn't look good.

Speaker 2 It's a real shame.

Speaker 1 And also, it seems like they don't give a shit about it.

Speaker 2 They true. Yeah, that's the issue.

Speaker 2 It's a real issue.

Speaker 2 They don't care to make it look good because it could look great. But it's just a real shame.

Speaker 2 Gosh, I think maybe the best-looking 3D Pokemon game in the last five years was that new Pokemon Snap. And that game doesn't even look that good.

Speaker 1 It is crazy in a company known for such tight control over its major IP. Yeah, like when they were like frame fucking the Super Mario Bros.
movie that Illumination made,

Speaker 1 like that, the Pokemon franchise doesn't look like the most expensive game on earth.

Speaker 1 That it that it isn't flawless and lush, that it doesn't even have the sort of consistent design like intensity of like Wind Waker. Yeah.

Speaker 2 It's also because Nintendo, and obviously, they don't have full control over it. Like, the Pokemon IP is not a thing that they really oversee internally or that they develop internally, rather.

Speaker 2 They obviously are overseeing it. But, you know, the Pokemon company, Game Freak, is developing it.

Speaker 2 They are usually so protective of their own IP. Like, even Donkey Kong, they're like, they, they, they keep, you know,

Speaker 2 really under

Speaker 2 a pretty tight control. Um, and it's, you know,

Speaker 2 even something they outsource like Metroid, again, they're like, I feel like they're really,

Speaker 2 there was like other M was like a one, one kind of huge misfire, but other than that, I feel like they're pretty, you know, dialed in in terms of like, we want to make sure that, that, that, these franchises are well represented, let alone, of course, your Marios and Zeldas.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 So I like, like, like, it's, it's, like, they don't have to try with any of these, but they choose not to try with Pokemon.

Speaker 2 And it's just, it's, it's, it's, it's just disappointing because, like, the thing, like, I mean, I'm a sucker. I'm going to buy every single one that comes out until I'm fucking dead.

Speaker 2 Well, yeah, that's, that's, you're also part of the problem, which is the whole thing.

Speaker 1 It's also crazy that they wouldn't make a regular Pokemon movie because they were so protective of the IP that it could only be a Detective Pikachu movie. Yeah.

Speaker 1 But then simultaneously, the actual games look like dog shit.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's really, really crazy.

Speaker 2 And I understand that, yeah, I'm part of it, but

Speaker 2 I'm just one man. What are you supposed to do? What am I supposed to do? It's a thing you want.
It's a franchise you've loved since you were a kid. Of course, you have some allegiance to it.

Speaker 2 You're going to try it every, it's like, it's like rooting for a sports team, which is a thing I can, you know,

Speaker 2 I certainly have.

Speaker 2 Plenty of friends who root for a sports team and then every year like the fucking New York Jets are disappointing them. They're so pissed off.
But it's just like they've been rooting for them forever.

Speaker 2 So what are they going to do? So I'm gonna keep trucking along with this.

Speaker 2 I like that it, there's just like plenty of things to do in it, too. Yeah, like you go to a new town, and there's just like new NPCs that have like little side quests for you.

Speaker 2 But the thing that I do want to highlight is this other game that I'm playing.

Speaker 2 First time ever playing a game like not a game like this, but I'm first time playing this game. Okay,

Speaker 2 I'm playing the first Sweet Coden. Wow, wow, on the remaster.
I can't remember what the full title of the remaster package is. Too long.

Speaker 1 Yeah, very too long.

Speaker 2 Sweet code in one and two.

Speaker 2 It's like the golden rune or something.

Speaker 2 Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 2 But I got to tell you something about this sweet code in.

Speaker 2 Extremely my shit. Yep.
Very good. Very pleasant so far.
Yep. Not very far into it.

Speaker 2 I'm truly in the first town you go to outside of the town you start in. Yep.
And I love it. I got also

Speaker 2 give a party of five. Yep.
That's a big party. Yep.
I thought the standard was four. Yeah.
The max, the standard max is four. I'm rocking around five dudes.
Party of five.

Speaker 2 Is Scott Wolfe gonna show up? Matthew Fox is just right around the corner. Don't get me started on the rest.

Speaker 2 You know what I'm talking about. Were Scott Wolfe and Matthew Fox actually in the same show? Yeah.
And what's next? Greg Dogg?

Speaker 2 I love you, man.

Speaker 2 300!

Speaker 2 Yeah, it took us 300 evidence to fucking get to Greg Dogg.

Speaker 2 It's a crew neck, and let me tell you, really comfortable and looks pretty flattering, too. Got a nice compliment for my wife.
Pretty cool. Doesn't happen every day.

Speaker 2 In fact, I'd say it rarely happens. Also got myself a nice shirt.
It's kind of a shirt-jacket hybrid. It's actually a suede-overs shirt, and it is really, really comfortable.

Speaker 2 And again, a flattering fit. And Quince has gifting covered beyond clothing, too.
If you need anything for home, bath, kitchen, or travel.

Quince.com slash get played.

Speaker 2 The full title, Suikinin 1 and 2 HD Remastered Gate Rune and Dune and Unification Wars. That's a mouthful.
That's a mouthful. So I forgive me if I only call it Suikinin 1 and two

Speaker 2 from henceforth.

Speaker 2 I'd like to get into it a little more. I didn't spend that much time with it.
Let me tell you something and how it looks on that switch-o-led. The Italians might say multo-bene.

Speaker 2 They might say it. Wow.
It's gorgeous.

Speaker 1 It is. I'm also playing it, Matt.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's really, really great. And you've experienced it before.
Yes. And so as a fan of...

Speaker 2 the original, would you say that the remake is a loving tribute? Because I know that there are some differences. I know that they like sort of rewrote the script.

Speaker 1 Well, it's been, I haven't played it.

Speaker 1 I mean, like, anytime I get an emulator, it's one of the games that I'll throw on my PlayStation 1 emulator. But I don't,

Speaker 1 I haven't played, played it enough to be like, oh, wow, this script is so much better. That being said, it's a good script.

Speaker 1 It feels like it's like old medieval language, you know, like fantasy novel stuff. And I'm pretty sure the original was just like, go to that town

Speaker 1 and now it's like it's like yeah oh forsooth yeah we must journey forth to the nearest village lest the dragons kill us I named my character Matt and then I got called handsome and I loved it

Speaker 1 I uh I was gonna talk I'll I'll say my piece when you're done so why don't you uh why don't you keep chatting uh

Speaker 2 It's really good. Yep.

Speaker 2 I know that what you wanted to say. But I would like to get more into it because I find it to be very relaxing, though, too.

Speaker 2 It's very, very, just that aesthetic is just very soothing to me now now that I have such

Speaker 2 a fondness for it with like the early Final Fantasy games. And

Speaker 2 more in particular, Chrono Trigger is sort of a more visual comp for it. It's probably a similar era, of course, which then just makes me think, why aren't they doing this with Chrono Trigger?

Speaker 2 They should just do it. Yeah,

Speaker 2 just celebrated 30 years recently. We should do a sweek it in episode at some point.
Yeah. Figure out exactly how to cover it.

Speaker 2 But I know that it is a series that's very important to Heather and this new remaster has been pretty well received, at least from a standpoint

Speaker 2 of its new localization. Which also

Speaker 1 is funny because when Suikaden came out the first time, people just dunked on it because they were like,

Speaker 1 but

Speaker 1 it looks like sprites still. Like, I think it was concurrent with the release information for Final Fantasy VII.

Speaker 1 In fact, it came out, I think, after Final Fantasy VII. It did.

Speaker 2 Suicidin 1 came out in 1995 and Suikoden 2 was 1998.

Speaker 2 So yeah, it was the sort of thing where it did feel a little dated and people would even say at the time, kiddie, that a game was still sprite-based.

Speaker 1 But it also was doing shit that Final Fantasy VII wasn't doing.

Speaker 1 The remaster,

Speaker 2 look.

Speaker 1 I don't like the look of the backgrounds in the remaster because they feel a little phone gamey to me they feel like mobile game um they're a little too slick and a little too like it's weird when the water when you're your main character has not been redesigned he is still just like the ugly 32-bit sprite but then the water and yeah by ugly you know we know yeah yeah yeah like i i mean gorgeous but ugly like rudimentary grotesque sickening uh but the water is like a a totally different fidelity and also has like real-time reflections.

Speaker 2 And it's kind of weird.

Speaker 1 It's not the same aesthetic as,

Speaker 1 what was that? Octopath Traveler. Where it's like got, it has shine, but still all feels cohesive.
Yeah. Like these feel like two totally different worlds that have been married together.
But

Speaker 1 boy, does this game sledgehammer me with nostalgia.

Speaker 1 I,

Speaker 1 the, you know, the first, and the first time I played this game and, and, and beat the game, my television was on an egg crate.

Speaker 1 Like, I was, I had a, uh,

Speaker 1 like my PlayStation was on the floor, and I couldn't believe how good the music was.

Speaker 1 Because also, it, the music in Final Fantasy VII felt like MIDI sounds, whereas the music in Suikoden had like the squeak of guitar frets when they're playing that main guitar theme in your your first village and i was like holy shit this is incredible and that song from that first town is still on my like relaxing mix of video game music because it became so like

Speaker 1 it was so woven into my experience of like early gaming so um

Speaker 1 i fucking love i love it i love sweeker it's really really i i i'm really digging it yeah i really dig it too um as a side note i am still playing kingdom come too uh i uh i did beat a few missions um i think i i wrote you guys about it um i had a choice where uh a woman had been cast out as a witch and uh she was like um her daughter had been kidnapped and it turned out that it was these farmhand sons who had kidnapped the daughter and i found one, confronted him, got him arrested, but the other one was holding her hostage.

Speaker 1 I finally talked him down, which was terrifying for me because I failed every check except one

Speaker 1 because my guy is still so stupid.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 1 Uh, and then he's like, Okay, okay, maybe I'll go to town. He walks away from the girl, and as soon as he does, she fucking backstabs him and kills him.
And I was like, oh, no.

Speaker 1 So then I bring her back to her mom, and her mom's like, oh, fuck, they're going to come for us because she killed. And she's like, how could I not? They, they kidnapped me.
They killed my boyfriend.

Speaker 1 And so the old woman is like, well, it's up to you.

Speaker 1 You can either let me stay out here and know that they are going to come and hunt me down because of what my daughter has done, or you can choose to go to the town and you can kill the farmhand for what he's done to our family

Speaker 2 or the farmer.

Speaker 1 And that's your choice. He's mad at her because she was a midwife and his wife died during childbirth.
So he blames her. She's mad at him for being ostracized.
I go to the town.

Speaker 1 He's kneeling in front of his baby's grave, who wasn't baptized, who couldn't go to heaven because he wasn't baptized. My baby's in hell.
And I was like,

Speaker 1 Jesus Christ.

Speaker 1 Christ. I've, I, I'm two missions into this game, and I had promised myself I was going to play a noble person.
And my first choice is between two ignoble choices. So I murdered the man on his

Speaker 1 son's grave.

Speaker 2 Forgive me, Lord. It's time to go back to the old name.

Speaker 2 And then carried his body out of town, threw it in a river. Oh my God,

Speaker 1 took all the shit off of his body. And I went to the old lady and I'm like, it's done.
And she's like, oh, thank you. Thank you so much.
She's so emotional. And I'm like, this sucks.

Speaker 1 Like, I've, I've murdered somebody now. And all I was trying to do was play like clean.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 But that's,

Speaker 1 that's kingdom come for you. I love it.

Speaker 2 Yeah, that sounds like awesome narrative design. Yeah.
I really, I, that makes me want to play. Every other thing.

Speaker 2 Yeah, no, every other thing you say about it either makes me never want to like experience it or like give it a shot. And it's like, it's a very, it sounds like a very compelling thing.

Speaker 1 I love it.

Speaker 2 Do you, how does the, like, is there a, is there a character creation process where you allocate stats or anything?

Speaker 2 Or is that, do you just develop, because you're talking about your character being so stupid, like, do you develop, just develop these skills, like charisma through interacting or something?

Speaker 1 I think your initial like like conversations with people are secretly designing your character right um

Speaker 1 and then it's also there's a lot of like passive stat building so if you just carry too much bullshit like i did because i was like i got i have to make money somehow so i'm gonna carry everything from these bandits to town but apparently if you're uh over encumbered encumbered uh you and you're walking with all that shit You're building up your muscles, so you build up strength.

Speaker 2 That's interesting.

Speaker 1 So it's not, it's not, there's tons and tons of passive, I love taking shortcuts. Like I don't like walking in the lot, on the roads.

Speaker 1 So I'm also getting like passive survival boosts and perks that are like, you're starting to learn what certain shrubs look like. And I'm like, that's fucking awesome design.
Yeah, that's cool.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I love it. Nick, what are you playing?

Speaker 2 Heather, thank you so much for asking. Yeah, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues to consume the bulk of my gaming time.

Speaker 2 I will have updates on that in future weeks, but I want to discuss a new release, which I was really excited about, and I got to spend some time with Wanderstop. Oh, Wanderstop came out March 11th.

Speaker 2 It is developed by Ivy Road, which is a development team.

Speaker 2 Chiefly the director Davey Reden or Redden, who did the Stanley Parable, which we've,

Speaker 2 I think we talked about on the podcast. Yeah.

Speaker 2 And then also it was co-written with Carla Zimonja, who

Speaker 2 worked on Gone Home and music by C418, who I'll come back to. I've been playing on PC.
I put a few hours in, and it's definitely got its hooks in me.

Speaker 2 So this is a cozy game that is a pretty clear, clean-cut allegory for dealing with professional burnout.

Speaker 2 The play, and a lot of these games are that. I mean, Stardew Valley is like, hey, this sort of escaped to this,

Speaker 2 you know, to the country, escape to this rural landscape.

Speaker 2 You know, but this one is like, is like pretty explicitly through the beats of the story talking about that

Speaker 2 You know that phenomenon.

Speaker 2 The player character is Alta who is a fighter in the fantasy role-playing sense pushes herself too hard starts losing a bunch of fights eventually reaches a point where she can't even lift her own sword and she's just like what's wrong with me?

Speaker 2 I'm working so hard and I still just can't fucking do the thing I'm built to do. She gets lost in a forest.
She gets saved by a man Boro, who is a great character.

Speaker 2 And Boro manages a tea shop. And from there, you as Alta get a job in a tea shop.

Speaker 2 Your character is learning to harvest tea ingredients, brew tea, maintain the shop, and more importantly, learning work-life balance.

Speaker 2 In short, it's one of those games that I'd love and Heather would hate.

Speaker 2 It is a delight. The writing is really, really charming.
Boro, who is this like, this big, gregarious dude,

Speaker 2 he's got this super easygoing, unflappable attitude. He's like, he's a stoic with a smile on his.
his face, very zen.

Speaker 2 He basically, anything that happens or that your character chooses to do, he's just kind of like, oh, that's okay, because that's kind of what should happen.

Speaker 2 It's just like a very, you know, tranquil sort of approach to life.

Speaker 2 Here's

Speaker 2 Redden, the director on Boro,

Speaker 2 talking about this character in a polygon piece by Nicole Carpenter.

Speaker 2 Quote, there's a trope in these kind of guru characters that I really fucking hate, which is when the guru comes in and is like, you're doing everything wrong and you're so dumb and I'm so smart and I'm going to show you all the wise ways to be about the world.

Speaker 2 And I hate that. It's driving me crazy.

Speaker 2 So just watching this guy almost just exist and be like, oh, he's just setting an example by just existing and we don't need to call attention to whether or not this is complementing anything in altis character the play character just to watch them be in the same space is fun and feels like there's an exciting tension to it and i do yeah it is kind of nice that it's just like oh this is he's not like a master splinter who's like giving you imparting lessons through uh you know direct knowledge he's just sort of like leading by example and just sort of like letting you be you you know which is which is great you can really just kind of play it at your own pace it's it's trying to encourage you to slow down enjoy the moment and also just about living for now, not for some future goal, even if that's a concrete goal, like being the best fighter.

Speaker 2 I will say I did read some Steam reviews of people with anxiety and some people are like, I like, oh, I found this game helpful. It gives me a nice perspective.

Speaker 2 And other people are just like, this game is giving me a panic attack. Oh, my God.
Because

Speaker 2 there's still like constant tasks, like any of these sorts of games that are

Speaker 2 analogous to farming sims or survival games. You still have to

Speaker 2 sweep up leaf piles or whatever the fuck. So the wash dishes.
So there's still that stuff is constantly happening. You've still got to manage those spinning plates.
So

Speaker 2 your mileage may vary. But part of what makes this game so cozy in this moment of cozy games is the aesthetics.
And it is an Unreal Engine game.

Speaker 2 It's kind of awesome now, I will say, that tools have reached the point where an indie team, small indie team, can make a 3D game like this that almost looks like a Sony first-party

Speaker 2 PS4 platformer. It's like got really nice art direction, vivid vivid palette, this sort of general softness, this pastoral feel.

Speaker 2 It's kind of like a very Disney Dreamlight Valley, if anyone listening has messed around with that. And the music by C418 is great.

Speaker 2 C418 most known for composing the Minecraft soundtrack when he was like 20.

Speaker 2 And

Speaker 2 wow, which is great. But yeah,

Speaker 2 I think is pretty intricately involved in this or intimately involved in this studio. and the creation of this studio beyond just composing the music.

Speaker 2 This is a track called Reinvigorating that I I think just kind of gives a taste of the feel of the soundtrack.

Speaker 2 So, I mean, it is very Minecraft, but it also kind of got some, you know, Joe Azaishi, Studio Ghibli sort of feel to it. You know, it also kind of reminds me of the Fez Score by Disaster Piece.

Speaker 2 But it's a really great accompaniment to the visuals and just the overall character

Speaker 2 of the game.

Speaker 2 So, yeah, I really like it.

Speaker 2 I feel like there's been maybe some,

Speaker 2 I feel like there's been some sort of mixed reactions to this game, but it's for sure working for me.

Speaker 1 Hey guys, I've talked about this on the show before. I use NordVPN and now we're doing ads for it.
So I feel like I am specifically qualified to talk about using NordVPN.

Speaker 1 Look, there are stores you can only shop at if you have a Japanese address or a Japanese like IP address.

Speaker 1 Every, every month I'm getting an ad for this clock. What's the clock? It's like a clock that tells the time by using quotes from books.
It's called the author's clock.

Speaker 1 And the clock, instead of like a screen that shows the time, it shows the full paragraph with the time bolded in the paragraph.

Speaker 1 So you get like every minute of the day, you get a new quote from a book.

Speaker 2 All right, let's do this bullshit. So

Speaker 2 the 300th episode, we're going to try to speed run through a discussion of Metacritic's top 300 games of all time by Critic Ranking.

Speaker 2 And we're going to see which ones we, the Triforce of Friendship, have played. Fuck.
So I don't know quite how to score this, but here's what I was thinking, Matt.

Speaker 2 You're the baseball head here, so you can maybe help out with any adjustments. If any of us have played a game, it's a hit.
If two of us have played a game, it's a double.

Speaker 2 If three of us have played a game, it's a triple. And if all three of us plus Ranch have played a game, it's a home run.

Speaker 2 If any of us have finished a game, it is a run. So finishing means it means it's a run.
Holy shit. If all three of us have finished a game, it's a grand slam.

Speaker 2 If it's a game none of us have ever played at all, it's an error. And if there's a game none of the three of us have played, but Ranch has played, it's an inside-the-park home run.

Speaker 2 That's really, really good.

Speaker 1 But how do we are you keeping track of that?

Speaker 2 Oh, yeah, I'll keep scores. We go.
Jesus Christ.

Speaker 2 I do have to say, yeah, because I was, we kind of

Speaker 2 trying to figure out how to do this. I was just sort of like, oh, we'll probably just have to go just like read it from the website.

Speaker 2 And even though the website, navigating the website's a little clunky because depending on the sizing of things and stuff, it kind of cuts off.

Speaker 2 You might not be able to see exactly what the title of the game is or whatever.

Speaker 2 And then Ranch texted me today and goes, I have some time today.

Speaker 2 I could compile the games

Speaker 2 into a PowerPoint presentation, which is what we're looking at right here, which looks like, if I'm going to guess what Ranch did, 300 individual slides for each game. One for each game.

Speaker 2 Way too much work.

Speaker 1 Also looks like a TED Talk.

Speaker 2 It really does.

Speaker 1 Like it's like,

Speaker 1 if I was doing a speech about the 300 best games of all time, this is the quality of a PowerPoint that I would use in that speech. I think we should put this on the Discord afterwards.

Speaker 2 This will go somewhere because, like, yeah, it would be insane and I would think downright disrespectful to have no one ever see all this work that Ranch did today. Thank you, Ranch.

Speaker 2 I will say they are just screenshots from the Metacritic website. Even so, like, just like the amount of, like, even that, unless it's like a little less impressive now, right?

Speaker 2 But you did it manually, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You did it manually.

Speaker 2 I did 600-plus screenshots on

Speaker 2 that.

Speaker 2 Thank you for your time. God bless you.
Thank you for your service. Thank you for your service.
And you shouldn't have done that. No.

Speaker 2 So you had every right to be like, actually, never mind. It's like, just going going forward.
If nothing ever seems like it's going to take too long, just be like, you know what?

Speaker 2 Is it okay if I don't? Absolutely.

Speaker 1 I'm shocked that number one is what it is because I thought Disco was the highest rated game of all time.

Speaker 2 No, so we'll, I think there is some,

Speaker 2 we'll get into it as we go, but, but some of the games that are really highly rated are games that came out in the late 90s.

Speaker 2 And number one, I think the way to do this, I think the fastest way to do this, because we could talk about each of these games at length, but if we talk about each of these games even for a minute at a piece,

Speaker 2 the episode length is going to get completely out of control.

Speaker 2 So, I think the thing is, I'll say the name of the game, or one of us can say the name of the game, and then say the ranking, the name of the game, and then if, like, just say, like, finished, played.

Speaker 2 If you didn't play, you didn't even have to say anything. Got it? Got it.
Okay, great. All right, number one overall on Metacritic, The Legend of Zelada, Ocarine of Time.
I finished this game.

Speaker 1 Are you going next, Matt?

Speaker 2 I haven't said anything.

Speaker 2 I've played it. I've played it.
Okay.

Speaker 1 Has Ranch not played it?

Speaker 2 No. Okay, okay.
Next up, Soul Caliber for the Sega Dreamcast. I don't know if we could say, I mean, I've played the shit out of the game.
I guess I could say I finished this game in the single.

Speaker 2 There is a there is something of a single player mode. So I guess I'd say single.

Speaker 2 I'll get a run there. I've played it.
I've finished it.

Speaker 2 All right. Next up, number three.

Speaker 2 Grand Theft Auto 4. I have played this game.
I've not finished the campaign of Grand Theft Auto. I've played it.
I finished it. Wow.
Wow. Okay.
Nico Bellic. Jesus Christ.
This is...

Speaker 1 What are you doing? Why are you keeping score?

Speaker 2 I shouldn't have tried keeping score.

Speaker 2 What is the goal?

Speaker 2 You've done enough, Randy. What is the goal of this score?

Speaker 2 You know what? Here's it. It's just a thing I've said.
So

Speaker 2 I'll stop writing it down. It's just a thing I said.
If anyone wants to track it, fine.

Speaker 1 How about we only announce Grand Slam? Okay, great.

Speaker 2 Right? Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. I have finished this game.
I've never played it. Whoa.
Wow. Holy shit, dude.

Speaker 1 It is so fucking good.

Speaker 2 I have it on the Switch collection, but I just have to play it.

Speaker 1 Oh my God, it is so fucking good. And you have to play it on the Wii, and you've got to come over and you've got to play it.

Speaker 2 I've finished this game. There is going to be, there is going to be another reaction from that, from Heather in a moment because I know what the next one is.

Speaker 2 Super Mario Galaxy 2, which I, huge blind spot for me, I've never played Galaxy 2. I have, despite loving Galaxy 1.
I have never played it because there's not a way to play it now.

Speaker 1 Holy shit, guys.

Speaker 2 Hopefully a Switch 2 release.

Speaker 1 I have played it. I can't remember if I finished it.
I have played it.

Speaker 1 Those are two masterpieces. Can we cover them on the show?

Speaker 2 I would love to. I would love to finally get back to you.
Coming in the Wii Mary Galaxy 2. I'll borrow.
I'll have a Wii. I should mod my mom's Wii.
Yeah. She doesn't need it.

Speaker 2 Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild, I've finished this game. Finished it.

Speaker 2 That's number six. Really? Loaded with Mario and Zelda early on.

Speaker 1 Ranch, did you play or finish that game? No.

Speaker 2 Breath of the Wild?

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 2 Ranch, just speak up if you have played a game. Otherwise, we'll assume your silence will speak for.
It's going to be no for you. Number seven.
Number seven, Tony Explorer Skater 3.

Speaker 2 I'd say I've played this game. Fucking finish this one, dog.
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 1 I've never played this.

Speaker 2 Wow.

Speaker 2 You will when it's come when the new one comes out. Perfect dark, I have played for the Nintendo 64.
That's great. I've played it.
That is very high for Perfect Dark.

Speaker 1 It's so perfect that I have finished this game infinity times. Wow.
Fucking Perfect Dark.

Speaker 2 Let's go. Red Dead Redemption 2.
I have played, not finished. Finished it.
Loved it. Wow.
Played. Wow.
I'm the Red Dead 2 guy. You sure are.
Grand Theft Auto V, another one. Another Rockstar game.

Speaker 2 I've played, not finished. Finished.
Played. I just bounce off of these campaigns for some reason.
I played this. Wow.

Speaker 2 Right.

Speaker 2 That means that one is a home run.

Speaker 2 I love stupid rules.

Speaker 2 All right, number 11. I'm also keeping a tally.
Wow. Whoa.

Speaker 2 Number 11, Metroid Prime. Finish this, finish it again for the podcast.

Speaker 2 Incredible game. So I gotta say, I've seen the list.
Yeah. I know what else is on the list for the most part.
I'm gonna say I've never played this game. No, you have.
We covered it on the podcast.

Speaker 2 The remaster

Speaker 2 is a separate.

Speaker 2 Wow, you're counting it separate. Okay.

Speaker 2 It's a separate thing on the list. Okay.

Speaker 1 Well, then I've played the original, yeah.

Speaker 2 Next up, Grand Theft Auto 3.

Speaker 2 Oh, shit. You know what? I don't think they ever finished.

Speaker 2 Maybe I did finish Grand Theft Auto 3. I can't remember.
I'll say played. I honestly don't remember if I finished the campaign.
I finished this game.

Speaker 1 I finished this game. Let's go.

Speaker 2 Super Mario Odyssey finished. Woo! Number 13.
Finished. Wow.
That's a

Speaker 2 grand slang.

Speaker 2 Next up, Halo Combat Evolve. I finished this game.
Did I beat the first Halo? Hmm. I don't think I did.
I've played it, though.

Speaker 1 Played.

Speaker 2 NFL 2K1. No.
I don't think there's... I have played this game.
I had this game for Second Dreamcast. It's interesting that an NFL 2K is this high, number 15 overall.

Speaker 2 Like, there's no way, looking back on time, that, like, one of the 15 greatest works of interactive entertainment ever is a football sim from 2000.

Speaker 1 It's also got 97 for critics, but 5.8 from user scores.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I don't know

Speaker 2 why that is.

Speaker 1 I think that it's people trying to vote it down because they're like, how could this be number 15?

Speaker 2 Yeah. Anyway, I would say, or maybe there's some issue with the campaign mode that I've got.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game. Yeah.

Speaker 2 I did play it. I don't know if I can say that.
I don't even think you could say you could finish it. Half-Life 2, I have finished this game.
One of my favorite games ever. Never played it.
Played it.

Speaker 2 Bioshock. I have played Bioshock.

Speaker 1 Bioshock is number 17.

Speaker 2 Number 17, yeah. I've played Bioshock.

Speaker 1 I have finished Bioshock. Holy shit.
Holy shit.

Speaker 2 GoldenEye 007. Yeah, I finished a GoldenEye.
I played it. Back in the day.

Speaker 1 I finished GoldenEye 007.

Speaker 2 19. Uncharted 2 Among Thieves.
I finished this game. I've played it.
I actually finished this for the first time fairly recently because I got into, I just decided to go back in the Uncharteds during

Speaker 2 lockdown, yeah.

Speaker 1 I have finished Uncharted 2 Among Thieves. Great game.

Speaker 2 Resident Evil 4. Hell yeah.
Number 20. Yes, finish this game.
Finished it. Hey, do you want me to say anything? Sure, of course.
This game is a miracle of programming.

Speaker 2 I know you didn't want to spend a lot of time on any of these, but if you haven't played Resident Evil 4,

Speaker 2 it takes place in a town beset by Lablaga. And there's a chainsaw-wielding maniac, and you are Leon Kennedy trying to make your way in the world.
Also, I play a small part.

Speaker 2 Thank you. Thank you, Resident Evil.
I would say, if anyone out there has never experienced Resident Evil 4, there's a remaster now which you can play. And that's

Speaker 2 people, it's probably the easiest way to get into it is by playing the remaster on Modern Artwork.

Speaker 2 I will say the original version is on Switch, and

Speaker 2 I think it might still be listed on other online stores.

Speaker 2 And it's still very playable. Yeah, it's a great game.
It's a great game, but the remake is really, really good.

Speaker 2 Next up,

Speaker 1 I finished that game.

Speaker 2 Here Here we fucking go. Here's what I finished: Baldur's Gate 3 for sure.
Finished. 21.

Speaker 2 Love to see it that high. I feel like, I mean, I feel like it should be probably above NFL 2K1.

Speaker 2 No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 Maybe a slightly better game.

Speaker 2 In the 10s,

Speaker 1 no, no, no. It's clear that Baldur's Gate 3 is more flawed than NFL 2K1.

Speaker 2 Well, I do think this is one of the things.

Speaker 2 I don't know if anything will ever really displace,

Speaker 2 you know,

Speaker 2 Zelda, Ocarine of Time, and Soul Calibur at the very, very top, because that came out at a time where just like people were just giving these games tens across the board.

Speaker 1 But it also, though, I will say that those two games spoke to such intense technological leaps at the time that they were tens compared to everything else that had come out at that point.

Speaker 2 point. Yeah.

Speaker 1 So I have only played Baldur's Gate 3. I am a criminal in that game.
Played.

Speaker 2 Wow. Okay.

Speaker 2 That's a home run. Orange Box.
I mean, I guess this is this is the thing. I would say, yeah, I mean,

Speaker 2 I've finished this game because it has the Half-Life Episode 1 and 2 and Portal. And Team Fortress 2, you can't really finish.
It's more of an online experience.

Speaker 2 I think one of the most amazing value probably that's ever been released. Like,

Speaker 2 four full games in one box. I've not played this.
I've played Portal, but not... the orange box as it were.

Speaker 1 I have not played it on the 360.

Speaker 1 Is that a problem?

Speaker 1 Oh, because it's an Xbox 360 version yeah like i've played i've played this game on ps

Speaker 1 3 i think

Speaker 2 i think or maybe not you know what i have played portal i i have played it on the three the 360 so i probably played orange box i don't think so i don't think we can get we need to get super i i guess if but then again i guess if it reappears on ps3 then we'll have to deal with it all right let's keep going all right Tekken 3.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I finished Tekken 3 in the PlayStation 1. I finished a single-player campaign with Mortal Keyers.
I have to say that I've played it.

Speaker 2 I don't know that I have, but I think I must have at some point.

Speaker 1 I have not played Cat Explorer.

Speaker 2 Is King in this one?

Speaker 2 King is in this one, yes. I love King.
King's great. All right, next up.
Mass Effect 2. I finished.
And again, that's a game I finished pretty recently. I've played Mass Effect 2.

Speaker 1 I don't think I've played Mass Effect 2.

Speaker 2 I played it on PlayStation 3, and I did the thing that you can skip. the part of Mass Effect 1 because that one wasn't ported to PlayStation 3.

Speaker 2 The Mass Effects Rip, I finally got into them with the Legendary edition of the collection that came out, and they're there. I've certainly bought that a couple of times.

Speaker 2 Okay, here's one where I'm like,

Speaker 2 I think this might be

Speaker 2 we might all have errors on this one, or we might get an error because I don't know if any of us have played.

Speaker 2 This is the visual novel, The House in Fate of Morgana, Dreams of the Revenants, for Nintendo Switch. That's the edition listed.
Number 25 overall.

Speaker 2 Incredible critical score here, although based on only 10 critic reviews.

Speaker 2 This is my first time hearing these words in this order.

Speaker 1 I think I mentioned this on the show before because I looked at like the top 25 games ever ever rated. And I was like, what the fuck is the house in Fatimorgana?

Speaker 1 I have not played this. I do think I did buy it from my Switch while we were podcasting.
Oh, wow.

Speaker 2 But I have not played it. I think I would love it.
I'm sure you would. Ranch Finish.

Speaker 1 It has like a lady on the front who's like lying in roses, but also looks sexy.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I think it's a horny visual novel. So again, very much for me.
uh let's i wonder how long to beat this is we can't spend too much time on this but it's just

Speaker 2 no yeah we have time for a stray google all right let's go to the next one i'll reveal this as we go all right up next is elden ring elden ring i have finished i've finished one of my favorite games ever finished it should be higher also but that's just you know this is kind of what the list no it's got to be lower than nba 2k1 or nb5 2k1

Speaker 2 elder scrolls 5 skyrim i never finished skyrim but i've played skyrim messed around with it i think i've started Skyrim like five times,

Speaker 2 but that's about it.

Speaker 1 I have finished Skyrim, and I did so under, in the middle of the night when I was trying to change my internal clock to Japan so I had work lights beaming at me.

Speaker 1 So people outside of my apartment heard the sounds of Skyrim and absolute daylight was blasting out

Speaker 2 of the windows.

Speaker 2 I've certainly had moments where in the past where I've

Speaker 2 reinstalled Skyrim on Steam and been like, I'm going to to finally finish this thing. And then I just like bounce off of it again.
But

Speaker 2 all right, let's move on. Half-Life, yes, I finished the original Half-Life for PC.
Wow, it came way back in 1998. I've played it.
Fantastic game. I've played like 20 minutes of it.

Speaker 2 So I'll say I've played it.

Speaker 1 I have never played the original Half-Life. What? A disaster.

Speaker 2 I met a longtime friend because I was playing Half-Life 1 in my dorm room and he just heard the sound of the machine gun and said, hey, what's that game you're playing?

Speaker 2 And we were like friends all through college and afterward. Isn't that crazy? That is crazy.
So those are meet cute. All right, next up, Legend of Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom.
I played this game.

Speaker 2 I did not feel enough momentum to finish this, to see this through to the end. I finished this game.
Yes, and I like it. I like it more than Breath of the Wild.

Speaker 2 This is what I've heard from people, from Zelda fans. They like it more than Breath of the Wild.
For me, I just got kind of like, I got kind of exhausted by it.

Speaker 1 Same. I played it.
I did not finish Tears of the Kingdom.

Speaker 2 All right, number 30. We're a tenth of the way through this list.

Speaker 1 Fuck, yeah, let's go.

Speaker 2 Wind Waker. Another Zelda game.
Finished Wind Waker.

Speaker 1 Whoa, I finished this. I finished this fucking game.

Speaker 2 It's so good. I've never played this one.

Speaker 2 Wow. Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 I really tapped in with Zelda in like the 3DS era or the DS era, rather, but it's never had. I have a GameCube.
I'm calling it right now. There's no way we're going to finish all 300.

Speaker 2 This is going to take way too fucking. I think we can do it.
We can do it. We can do it.
We can do it. We can do it.
Grand Turismo played. I've played Grand Turismo.

Speaker 1 Played the original Gran Turismo.

Speaker 2 All right, next up. MGS2, Sons of Liberty.
Number 32 overall. I have finished this game.
I finished it as well. A banger.

Speaker 1 Finish the game.

Speaker 2 Next up, Grand Theft Auto Double Pack. So this includes Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City.

Speaker 2 I guess I have to say, because of Grand Theft Auto 3, I have not finished this game.

Speaker 2 But I played both these games.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I've played this. I didn't play it for Xbox, but

Speaker 2 I've finished three. I've not finished Vice City.

Speaker 1 I have finished Vice City and 3, so I have finished this one.

Speaker 2 All right, next up, Portal Companion Collection. Wait, what the hell is in Portal Company?

Speaker 2 Portal 1 and 2 release for the Switch. Okay, but here's the thing.
not, I did not play the switch re-release, but I have played both portal games.

Speaker 2 I think we still get a finished here. I think we could say it.
Yeah, okay, great.

Speaker 1 Okay, I've also finished it. Wait, I've finished it.

Speaker 2 Do you finish Portal 2? Yes. Okay, let's go.

Speaker 1 Potato 1?

Speaker 2 Yeah. I finished it.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 All right, next up. Baldur's Gate 2, Shadows of Arm.
This is a big honking game that I played the shit out of way back in the day on PC.

Speaker 2 And did I ever roll credits on this game despite putting hundreds of hours into it over multiple playthroughs? No, I did not. But

Speaker 2 a great game.

Speaker 1 I love that Nick is like, go, go, go. The moment he sees something that triggers a memory, he's like, wow, this was a great game.
You know,

Speaker 1 the cloth map on this game was so beautiful. Great map.
And I, you know, I met a friend once.

Speaker 2 All right, we're going to keep going. Number 38, 36.

Speaker 1 I didn't play this game. The last one.
Not this one.

Speaker 2 Yes, me neither. All right.
San Andreas, another Grand Theft Auto. I played, never finished.
I don't think I finished it, but I love it.

Speaker 1 I did not finish Grand Theft Auto, but I played it. San Andreas, I mean.

Speaker 2 Vice City. I did finish Vice City.
Did not finish. Finished.
Next up. Little Big Planet.
You know what? I never finished Little Big Planet. I missed around with it.
I played with it.

Speaker 2 I've never played it, and I almost, I'm shocked to hear

Speaker 2 of another person that's played it. Yeah, I played Little Big Planet.

Speaker 1 I have also played Little Big Planet. It came out in a very specific timeline in the PS3 lifecycle.

Speaker 2 I love Sackboy. It was also like we were all rooting for Sackboy, and we all wanted there to be a cool physics platformer on the PlayStation 3, and it was more of just like kind of a software tour.

Speaker 1 And it was the physics that ruined the game.

Speaker 2 Yeah, that's true. What the fuck? Legends of Collector's Edition.
Okay, what the fuck's on this? I'm just going to say I finished. I finished all these.
I'm just going to say.

Speaker 1 I did not. I did not finish all these.
I don't even know what's on this collection. How can you say you finished in the middle of the season?

Speaker 2 I don't know. Spanish swords on it.
That one doesn't get finished. I finished this guy with that.
I feel like you could finish it. I keep going.
Yeah. It's a pretty good.
Gran Turismo 3. I've played.

Speaker 2 I have not played this one.

Speaker 1 I have not played Gran Turismo 3.

Speaker 2 I own Gran Turismo 3, which is weird for me. Halo 2.
I did not finish Halo 2, but I played Halo 2. I've never played it.

Speaker 1 I have finished Halo 2.

Speaker 2 Wow, I love it.

Speaker 1 One of the rare Xbox finishes for me.

Speaker 2 Majora's Mask.

Speaker 2 Boy, it could be my favorite Zelda.

Speaker 2 I have finished Majora's Mask. What are you doing?

Speaker 1 Matt, are you okay?

Speaker 2 I've never played this. Wow.
Majora's Mask is awesome.

Speaker 1 I have played, but not finished Majora's Mask.

Speaker 2 It is one where it's like, it's a bit of a... We got to keep going.
It's a bit of a chore to get to the end.

Speaker 1 Okay, a link to the past slash four swords.

Speaker 2 So I guess I would say I finished a link to the past, but four swords, I don't know how to quantify.

Speaker 2 I've not played it. I've not played any of those.

Speaker 1 I have played and still own this copy of the Legend of Zelda Link to the Past Four Swords. Wow.

Speaker 2 House of Fatimorgana, by the way, is a 30-hour commode.

Speaker 2 Last of Us. Here we go.
Finish this game. Finished it, baby.
Finished. Wow, that's a grand slam.
Oh, wait, no, that's a home run. That's a home run.

Speaker 2 Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess, I played but did not finish. I've never played it.
You know what?

Speaker 2 So that one's probably in the GameCube collection, so probably I did not finish the GameCube collection.

Speaker 1 I finished Twilight Princess and don't like it.

Speaker 2 I got kind of bored of it. I don't like it.
It's funny because Twilight Princess was so much the response to Wind Waker.

Speaker 2 It's like people didn't like the aesthetic with Dwind Waker. It's like, okay, we got a lot of waker.

Speaker 1 Wind Waker, I love Twilight Princess, don't love.

Speaker 2 Wind Waker is now held so much more, so much closer in the heart of video game fans over time. Madden NFL 2003.
For the PlayStation 2.

Speaker 2 I did play it.

Speaker 2 This was back in the era. I was playing Madden's.
I did play this one. I've played this game and I do like it.
And I have to shout out the soundtrack Party Hard by Andrew WK is on this one.

Speaker 2 It's a great soundtrack.

Speaker 1 I have not played Madden twice.

Speaker 2 Who's on cover? Is that Marshall Falk on the cover? I think it is, yeah. Wow.
Persona 5 Royal. I have finished.
Love this game. I've played it.

Speaker 1 I have played this game last night.

Speaker 2 Wow.

Speaker 1 It's one of my sleepy time games.

Speaker 2 How are you balancing Persona 5 Royal and Kingdom Come 2 Deliverance? How are you playing both of these games?

Speaker 1 Because Kingdom Come 2, I play during the day when I'm like, I just want to run one mission. Persona 5, I'm in bed with my Switch.
It's

Speaker 2 different 5. All right, next up.
Last of Us Remastered. Yeah, I finished this game.
I did finish remastered. I guess I technically did too.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I finished remastered also.

Speaker 2 Wow.

Speaker 2 That's a home run. Red Dead Redemption played did not finish.
I've finished this one.

Speaker 1 Is this the one with the shootout at the end?

Speaker 2 Or is that a different one? I think it does have.

Speaker 2 I think this is it.

Speaker 1 Then I finished this one.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Yes.

Speaker 2 You could also that you could you could ask that question and get a yes answer for like 60 yeah but there's like an iconic shootout yeah there's like a big time oh yeah yeah i did i did finish that one portal two finished not finished finished portal two final fantasy nine finished never played then it oh my god man wow oh my god i'm new

Speaker 2 you play a bunch of you you've gone through a bunch of final fantasies you played through i know i'm stuck at four i have to get through four so i can play five and then six and then go into eight nine and the rest also whenever whenever I say, oh my god, it's not you're a dummy.

Speaker 1 It's you still get to watch Alien for the first time.

Speaker 2 I watched Alien for the first time not long ago.

Speaker 1 Like, I'm so excited for your future for so many of these games. I have finished Final Fantasy 9.

Speaker 2 God of War. Wait, this is the PS4 God of War.
So this is the modern God of War, which I fell off. No, but I never actually finished.
I finished this game. I really liked it.

Speaker 1 I finished this game. Let's go, Matt.

Speaker 2 Hell yeah.

Speaker 1 High fives.

Speaker 2 Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 played. I've played.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 Elden Ringshad of the Earth Tree. Finished.

Speaker 1 Finished, baby. I did not finish Erdtree.

Speaker 1 I'm sorry, guys.

Speaker 2 It's Erdtree actually is awesome all the way through it, except for the final boss. Yeah.
Astrobot. PS5.
Wow. That one's a 55 on the list.

Speaker 2 Astrobot, which came out last year, get played's game of the year 2024.

Speaker 2 I

Speaker 2 finished this game.

Speaker 2 I finished it.

Speaker 2 I've platinum this game.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I finished Astrobot. It's beautiful.
Wow. Devil May Cry for the PlayStation 2.

Speaker 2 Wait, oh, sorry, that was a Graham song. Devil May Cry for PlayStation 2.

Speaker 2 I played back in the day. I have not ever played one of these games, but

Speaker 2 I would like to. They're on Switch.
They're available in HD Collection. I got to get it.

Speaker 1 I have played Devil May Cry. I don't know if I've beaten it.

Speaker 2 I really like Devil May Cry. NFL 2002, another one I would have played.

Speaker 2 I don't think I'd touch this one. I did not play this.

Speaker 2 Batman Arkham City. I have played Arkham City.

Speaker 2 I did not finish finish i've finished arkham city i love it i have never played arkham city my favorite of the the trilogy metroid prime remastered finished i i've finished this one uh and it's pretty high up on the list i think it's pretty good i've played prime remastered uh Ocarine of Time 3D for the 3DS.

Speaker 2 I mean, I finished Ocarine of Time, but the 3DS remake I did not specifically finish. So I guess I'll just say played.
Did not finish played. Played.
Yeah, I got it for the novelty of it.

Speaker 2 Chrono Cross for PlayStation 1.

Speaker 2 Really high, a little too high for a game that doesn't really work, but it is still a cool, ambitious design. I'm glad it exists.

Speaker 1 Higher than trigger.

Speaker 2 This is what I was going to fucking say. What the fuck? Here's what happened.

Speaker 2 When this game came out, publications were so rapturous about a Chrono Trigger sequel that actually did have really good production value.

Speaker 2 And it is like just so ambitious that this was getting like 10.0s across the board. Like GameStop gave this like a 10.0.

Speaker 2 It was like, which was rare for their, GameSpot, rather, gave it a 10.0, which was rare for that, that era. Wow.

Speaker 2 But it's a little bit, it was a little bit overrated at the moment. Still a cool game.
But yes, I finished GrotoCraft. It looks cool.

Speaker 1 I've played it. I have not finished it.

Speaker 1 So many fun.

Speaker 2 Another Madden Mad FL 2004 I played.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game. I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 Pover athlete Michael Vick. Wow.
Gears of War. I played Gears of War.
I never finished it. I've played Gears of War.

Speaker 1 I have finished Gears of War. Wow.

Speaker 2 All around me are familiar faces. Elder Scrolls for Oblivion.
another Elder Scrolls game I've played.

Speaker 1 Wait, which one is Oblivion?

Speaker 2 It's the fourth one.

Speaker 2 I don't know what to say beyond the... It's the fourth one.
Yeah. Did it? You guys dumped me as well.

Speaker 2 Elder Scrolls 5 is Skyrim. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Number 3 is Morrowind. So it's the one after Morrowind and 4 Skyrim.

Speaker 1 I've played Oblivion. Okay, great.

Speaker 2 I've played this one, actually. Yeah, I played this one.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 Next up, Sid Meier Civilization 2. I mean, I have to say I finished this game considering how many hours I put in Civilization 2 and considering how many times I got to the end of a run and won.
No,

Speaker 2 never played.

Speaker 1 I have never played Civilization 2. What interesting blind spots.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Is this listenable? Are people playing? I don't know.
I don't know.

Speaker 2 Ranch is not. They're like, 300th episode.

Speaker 1 They just say yes or no.

Speaker 2 300 times. We're getting some banger.
We're getting some jokes out. Number 66, Quake.
I did finish the single player campaign for Quake, which I was actually a little bit disappointed by at the time.

Speaker 2 Never played Quake.

Speaker 1 I have finished Quake. Soundtrack by Trent Resner and Ninish Nails.

Speaker 2 No shit, really? Yeah. Yeah.
I'll have to check it out. Metaphor Refantasio, number 67.
I did finish that game in the early part of this year, 2024, release. Loved it.
Nah, played.

Speaker 1 Played this game. Haven't finished it yet.
And in fact, I think it was taken off my back order or my back player.

Speaker 2 Played we did when we did Backlog Thunderdome. Yeah.
Which is a shame because I think it does. It is a very satisfying game to finish.
Call of Duty for Modern Warfare. You know what?

Speaker 2 I'm going to be completely honest. I don't think I've ever played Call of Duty for Modern Warfare.

Speaker 2 I've never really played a Call of Duty. No.

Speaker 1 As the representative of violence in the room, I have played Call of Duty for.

Speaker 1 Didn't finish it.

Speaker 2 Bioshock Infinite. I'd never played the Bioshocks past the first one, so I did not play it.
This one, I have played. I've played a little bit of all of them.

Speaker 1 I should finish all of them. I have finished Infinite.

Speaker 2 I didn't like it. What did you think?

Speaker 1 Didn't like it? Did not like it.

Speaker 2 I thought it was scarier than the other ones because I was like, oh, this one's a little racist.

Speaker 2 I was like, oh, this one didn't have that. The other one didn't have that before.

Speaker 2 Number 70, Halo 3. Played.
Have not played.

Speaker 1 Finished Halo 3.

Speaker 2 Wow. We got to talk Halo sometime.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 Ninja Gaiden Black.

Speaker 2 Did not finish this game.

Speaker 2 Not play this game.

Speaker 1 I have never played Ninja Gaiden Black.

Speaker 2 Grim Fandango finished this game. LucasArts Adventure, Tim Schaefer game.

Speaker 2 Really good. Not played, but I do own it.

Speaker 1 I have never played Grim Fandango.

Speaker 2 Fantastic soundtrack. Super Mario Advance, Super Mario Bros.
3 for the Game Boy Advance. You know what? I actually have finished this specific version of it.

Speaker 2 The Game Boy Advance re-release of Super Mario Bros. 3.
I think this is the version I played for. I might have played the original for the show when we did the episode.

Speaker 2 I can't remember, but I'll say I finished this.

Speaker 1 I have not finished Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Game Boy Advance, but I have played it.

Speaker 2 How fucking dumb is it that it's Super Mario Advance 4 is Super Mario Bros. 3? That's maybe the dumbest title in LA.
Yeah, it's very stupid.

Speaker 1 The dumbest thing is that this is above Super Mario Bros.

Speaker 2 3 on this list. Yes.

Speaker 1 Like, who didn't give Mario 3 a 10?

Speaker 2 Well, but the thing is, like, they weren't aggregating scores in the same way in the pre-internet era. Yeah, they're also...

Speaker 2 So I think that's part of it. We're 73 in and Chrono Trigger hasn't even come up.
Yeah, I mean, I think a lot of games from the

Speaker 2 16-bit era and earlier, whatever console generation are just going to be ignored from this, even though those are some of the the greatest games ever

Speaker 2 but i think that's the nature of this sort of aggregation dog shit yeah this sort of but this tends to come from what people have put in the internet public you know what i'll go as far as to say that's greg dog shit

Speaker 2 jet set radio for the dreamcast wow i have finished this game

Speaker 2 i know if only they could have seen it

Speaker 1 i have played jet set radio uh i did not finish it i've played jet set radio i remember this.

Speaker 2 I believe it was localized as Jet Grind Radio at first in the U.S.

Speaker 2 I don't know why they did that. Wow.
Okay, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Colon Chaos Theory. I don't know which splinter cell this is,

Speaker 2 but I have not played this one. Sam Fisher looks dope.
I've not played it.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 He's holding a knife.

Speaker 2 Oh, my boy. God of War Ragnarok, I played.
No, wait, wait. I didn't play.
I didn't even, I never even, this is a game I bought and never played.

Speaker 2 I finished it. I love it.

Speaker 1 I have not finished it, but I do play it regularly.

Speaker 2 Boy. Okay, Chaos Theory was the third in the Splinter Cell

Speaker 2 series. Resident Evil Code Veronica for the sake of Dreamcast.
I played, but did not finish. So many.
I've played Code Betty.

Speaker 2 That was good.

Speaker 1 I have not played Code Veronica.

Speaker 2 I was very excited to have a Dreamcast-exclusive Resident Evil, and I bought it. And I was just like, all right.
It was probably nice to to have a Dreamcast game. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Calm down.

Speaker 2 Burnout 3 takedown. This game fucking rules.
Heather loves this game.

Speaker 1 I would say I've finished the campaign on this game.

Speaker 2 I've never played a burnout.

Speaker 1 Oh my God. They're so great, dude.
Another, you get to watch Amadeus. You get to watch Alien.
You get to watch Terminator 2.

Speaker 2 I will say, I guess I technically have played this game, but I kind of want to give myself an opportunity because I feel I've messed around with this game a little bit. I didn't own it.

Speaker 2 I messed around with someone else's copy. So I maybe won't even give myself the plate on this one.
Number 79, Diablo. Diablo 1 for the PC released back in 1996.
I did finish Diablo 1.

Speaker 2 Never played Diablo.

Speaker 1 I have not played Diablo, and the fact that a 1996 game is on this list, but there aren't fucking 16-bit games on this list is pissing me off.

Speaker 2 Well, again, this is what they would have been, you know, the PC. gaming fandom would have been more likely to be online at this time.
So I think those games are going to be a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 I have a pitch for this. I'm be surrending them.
This next chunk of 10. Okay.

Speaker 2 Let's say the title and then all in unison. Like we'll just rapid fire this next 10.
Okay. You're trying to speed this up.
I'm trying to speed up just for this next 10 to see if it works. Got it.

Speaker 2 We'll say the title and then all of us in unison will say just whatever we say and then go to the next one. Metal Gear Shall the 3 Subsistence.

Speaker 1 Finished.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Not played.
Not played. Metal Gear Solid Force, Guns of the Patriots.
Played.

Speaker 2 Not played. Wow.
Yeah, the Metal Gear Solids 4 and 5. The Metal Gear Solids Beyond 3 are blind spots.

Speaker 1 God of War 2004.

Speaker 2 Finished. Finished.
Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic.

Speaker 1 Played. Not played.

Speaker 2 Sid Meyer Civilization 4.

Speaker 1 Which also I own. I own fucking Knights of the Old Republic, and I haven't played it yet.

Speaker 2 I mean,

Speaker 2 it's a commitment to get into a Big Honkin RPG.

Speaker 1 I have not played Civ 4.

Speaker 2 I finished it. Virtual Fighter 4 for PlayStation 2.
I have played.

Speaker 1 I finished.

Speaker 2 Never played. Super Smash Brothers Brawl for Wii.
I mean, I finished a single player campaign.

Speaker 1 I have not played.

Speaker 2 Company of Heroes.

Speaker 2 Fuck.

Speaker 2 So this game is like really well regarded. I believe this is

Speaker 2 an RTS.

Speaker 2 I'm trying to remember, but I've never played Company of Heroes. Me neither.

Speaker 1 I have not played Company of Heroes. Matt is trying so hard to get us through this list.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's a real-time strategy series. And, you know, people really like these games.
I'm not really an RTS guy. I'm more of a turn-based strategy guy, so I never messed around with it.

Speaker 2 My real-time strategy not working.

Speaker 2 All right.

Speaker 2 Grandma Eastern 2 for PlayStation 1, played.

Speaker 1 Not played. Not played.

Speaker 2 Last of Us Part 2 for PBS 4. Finish.
Finish. Wow.
Okay. Wow.
That's a grand slam. We can go back to normal now.
Bundy Cell Bandora tomorrow.

Speaker 1 Not played. Not played.
Not play.

Speaker 2 Grand Theft Auto, Chinatown Wars, and Nintendo DS. You know what? I never played this game.
Not played. I played this.

Speaker 1 Wait, maybe I have played this.

Speaker 2 It's cool. It goes back to that top-down style.
No, I haven't played this.

Speaker 2 Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. I did play this game.
This is actually one of the original.

Speaker 1 The fucking rules.

Speaker 2 The Xbox Live Arcade games that was really just. I can't say that I have awesome.

Speaker 1 This game really. This game's great.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Dwarf Fortress for PC.
I have played, and I found it inscrutable, and I bounced off, but it is really cool.

Speaker 2 Not played. Half-Life Alex for PC.

Speaker 1 Played.

Speaker 2 Not played. I made it my pledge to play it a couple of years ago, and I never played it.
Do you have the VR? I do. I have the VR headset, and I have the fucking game, and I just never did it.

Speaker 1 Oh my god, it's so good, dude.

Speaker 2 I know because everyone says it's great, and I love the Half-Lives. Divinity Original Sin 2 played.
Played.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 I want to finish this fucking game. That's a Larian game.
Unreal Tournament 2004. I played.
Not played.

Speaker 2 I don't even think there was a single-player campaign for that. Braid.
Braid.

Speaker 1 Highlight. Top 100.
Braid.

Speaker 2 Number 98. Not played.
Finished. I've played Braid.
99.

Speaker 1 Braid has a great ending.

Speaker 2 Wow. God of War 2, 99.
That's really high for God of War 2 for the PlayStation 2. Four God of Wars in the top 100.
Yeah. I did not finish God of War 2 for PlayStation 2.
I finished it. I love it.

Speaker 1 I don't know if I finished it because I don't know which one this is.

Speaker 2 This one ends with Kratos riding on the Titans' backs. They're climbing Mount Olympus to kill God.

Speaker 1 I think I finished this game.

Speaker 2 Super Mario 3D World for reuse.

Speaker 2 Number 100 overall. Oh, man.
I finished this game. My fantastic game.
My favorite Mario. Great game.
I finished it. I love it.

Speaker 1 I think I finished it. I don't know.

Speaker 2 StarCraft 2, Wings of Liberty. I played this game, never finished a single player game.
Never.

Speaker 1 I have never played it. Never played it.
I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 SSX for PlayStation 2 came out in the year 2000. I played this game.
Played. I have.
Is there a single player game pack?

Speaker 1 I have not played.

Speaker 2 103 Street Fighter 4. I've played Street Fighter 4.
I got to fucking say this is my favorite Street Fighter game. Maybe my favorite fighting game of all time.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I love Street Fighter 4. I finished it.
I finished it with multiple characters.

Speaker 2 I I got all the way to Seth, kicked his ass. Yeah, let's go.
Let's do it. Minecraft.
Okay. I have played my share of Minecraft.
I have not finished the campaign of Minecraft.

Speaker 2 I've never played Minecraft. Wow.
Matt, come on.

Speaker 2 I've never played Minecraft.

Speaker 2 That's insane.

Speaker 2 I've never played it.

Speaker 1 I have played Minecraft, but not a ton.

Speaker 2 I've done the one we did with Harmon. Minecraft story mode.
That could not be further from the experience of Minecraft. The thing about it is...
It's a telltale Minecraft game.

Speaker 2 I feel like I'll love it and I just can't do it. I just can't.
Okay. I played Minecraft.

Speaker 2 I do feel like I've shown you up. I know.
I'm not a real gamer. It's interesting that the Minecraft rates at what is it, 100 to 3? What was the number? 1004?

Speaker 2 It's interesting that it rate because it's generally, you know, it's like the most successful game of all time in terms of sales and obviously such a huge impact on the culture. Maybe I'll try it.

Speaker 2 You should play it. I feel like even just as someone who has a video game podcast, you should play Minecraft.
I'll download it on the Series X right now.

Speaker 1 I think what you should do, though, first is play NFL 2K1.

Speaker 2 Yeah, you're right. It is a better game.
It's a better game than Minecraft.

Speaker 1 Persona 4 Golden

Speaker 1 for the PlayStation Vita. I have played this.

Speaker 2 I never played Persona 4 Golden. I thought about doing it after I finished Persona 5 Royal.
I was like, maybe I will. And I didn't do it.
I have not played this. How is it?

Speaker 1 It's great.

Speaker 2 I bet I'd love it. It's more of the same.
Persona 5, I mean, I guess I haven't finished Persona 5 Royal, so I guess I will just play. Yeah, I'll say I've played Persona 5.
I've finished.

Speaker 2 Okay, I have played Splinter Cell 1. I've not finished Splinter Cell 1, but I did mess around with it.
I've not, but I would like to play

Speaker 2 a new Splinter Cell.

Speaker 1 I have not played Splinter Cell.

Speaker 2 Homeworld for PC.

Speaker 2 Wow. So this is another RTS game.
This was a Space Sim that came out.

Speaker 2 The difference of this one,

Speaker 2 I'm talking too much. Anyway, but I just want to get some context.
I know not everyone is familiar with Homeworld. Homeworld, I did not play, but I remember this game back in the day because

Speaker 2 what people was heralded about this game is it was RTS, but fully in three dimensions in

Speaker 2 space. So like you could go like, you know, as opposed to StarCraft, which is, yeah, which is isometric.

Speaker 2 In and out? Exactly. So you had a whole other access to work with.
Anyway, no, I did not play Homeworld.

Speaker 1 I have not played Homeworld.

Speaker 2 But I remember people loving it. Quake 3 Arena, I played.

Speaker 2 Not played.

Speaker 1 I have not played Quake 3 Arena.

Speaker 2 There's no real campaign mode. It's just like a...
It's just a... I mean, I guess maybe there is there fucking is a

Speaker 2 campaign mode against bots, but it's not like there's like a story or a story.

Speaker 1 But Quake 3 was an online game specifically to showcase the Dreamcast's online facility

Speaker 1 capabilities.

Speaker 2 And Quake 3. Yeah, exactly.
And SSX3 for the PlayStation 2. I played this game.
Finished.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 Okami for PlayStation 2. I mean, I shouldn't say the title because we're just being platform neutral here, but I have played Okami.

Speaker 2 Gorgeous platformer that I just was, or not platformer, gorgeous, like more Zelda-like. Not played.
That I

Speaker 2 kind of a watercolor study.

Speaker 1 I played very, very briefly.

Speaker 2 Yeah, that I never, I just didn't get it, get its hooks in me, but very, very pretty. Fallout 3, I have played Fallout 3.
Not played. Finished.
Wow.

Speaker 1 Love me, Fallout 3.

Speaker 2 Gears of War 2, never played. Never played.
Finished. Wow.
Wow. Pro Evolution Soccer 2, aka Winning 11.
I've never played this game.

Speaker 2 And in fact, I don't think I've ever played any of the Winning 11 games.

Speaker 1 Me neither. I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 Soul Calibur 2. The soul still burns.

Speaker 2 I think I could say I finished Soul Calibur 2 in terms of playing through the single-player campaign.

Speaker 1 Well, we also said we already finished the Dreamcast version of this game.

Speaker 2 The Dreamcast, there was not a Dreamcast version of Soul Calibur 2. It was only Soul Calibur.

Speaker 2 One was on Dreamcast. Soul Calibur 2 was multi-platform.

Speaker 1 I have finished Soul Calibur 2.

Speaker 2 I have not. I have not.
That was the one. Soul Calibur 2 is great because

Speaker 2 we talked about this before, but there were platform exclusive characters. It was on GameCube.

Speaker 2 Previously, the Furious one was a Dreamcast exclusive. This one was on GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2.

Speaker 2 The PlayStation 2 was a...

Speaker 2 Tekken character. Tekken character is Heihachi, I think.

Speaker 2 On GameCube, it was Link, and then on Xbox, it was Spawn.

Speaker 2 Awesome.

Speaker 2 Number 116. Here's the thing.
I did not finish Mass Effect 3 in the Legendary Edition, and I got to do it. I'm going to do it.
But I've played this game.

Speaker 2 not played not played metal gear solid five this phantom pain again my metal gear solid uh blind spots post three uh persist i did not play phantom pain i've played this i'll say very recently then i finished it not anywhere close

Speaker 1 i think phantom pain is the only one that i have not played but it was also the one that uh wasn't this the one that kojimo has taken off of yes yeah

Speaker 2 He's gonna be, I mean, he's furious already. He texts me about it all the time.
Skies of Arcania for the Dreamcast. I played.
I did not actually finish this all the way through. Not played.

Speaker 2 Bring cool job.

Speaker 1 I burned it and it is still sealed.

Speaker 2 Wow.

Speaker 1 I have to play it.

Speaker 2 No, you have to

Speaker 2 keep getting sold for $3,000.

Speaker 2 Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. Played.
Never played Skyward Sword.

Speaker 1 Never played Skyward Sword.

Speaker 2 How is this the one that I tapped in for? Well, this was the one that was the Wii,

Speaker 2 the Wii one that had a bunch of like, you know,

Speaker 2 sword movements that I was just like checked out. I was like, I don't want to fuck around with this.
And then they released a remaster that everyone said was good.

Speaker 2 And then I just never played the remaster.

Speaker 2 Mario Kart Super Circuit for Game Boy Advance. I mean, I guess I finished this game.
I played the shit out of this on my Game Boy Advance. It's fucking awesome.

Speaker 1 I have not played Super Circuit.

Speaker 2 Wow. Yeah.

Speaker 2 I used to play with a group of co-workers.

Speaker 2 I guess stop talking. I used to play with the group of co-workers, Mario Kart, Super Circuit.
There should be other content on the show that's not just us saying shout it.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Super Circuit for Game Boy Advance.

Speaker 2 And one of the guys would kick everyone's ass, and his username was Grandma. And so just be, God damn it, Grandma.
Fuck you, Grandma. That's really, really good.

Speaker 2 That's super funny. I love it.

Speaker 1 That's great. Rock Band 3.

Speaker 2 I have to say I finished this because I'm certain I, you know, got five stars on like as many of the songs as I could. I gotta be honest, I don't think I played Rock Band 3.

Speaker 1 I don't know which of the rock bands I've played.

Speaker 2 I definitely played one, and I definitely played Beatles, and I maybe played two. I don't know if I played three.

Speaker 1 I have no idea.

Speaker 2 I'm gonna give myself a no.

Speaker 1 I'm gonna say I played it. Finished.
I have no idea.

Speaker 2 NBA 2K won. A great game.
I mean, the 122nd best game ever made, I guess. I played this game.
And yeah, I mean,

Speaker 2 it is good. I have not.
I've never seen government on the cover.

Speaker 1 I have not played this Dreamcast game.

Speaker 2 The 2K series were pretty huge on the Dreamcast game.

Speaker 1 Oh, shit. Beautiful Joe.

Speaker 2 Beautiful Joe. Very cool-looking game.
I love Beautiful Joe. That I played back in the day.

Speaker 1 I have played it. I have not finished it.

Speaker 2 I played it as well.

Speaker 1 Holy shit.

Speaker 2 Oh, wait. I just meant to say something.

Speaker 2 We can do baseball voices. So I just wanted to say, like, I'm glad we're getting this in at the audience.
I meant to say this before. I meant to say this earlier.

Speaker 2 So, since all three of us played that one,

Speaker 2 oh, that's a triple to center left. Okay, now try doing it in a baseball voice.

Speaker 2 How dare you?

Speaker 2 Just a little fun. 124 Hades should be way the fuck higher on that list.
At that, Hades. Hades number 124.
It certainly is on my personal list, but I have finished this game.

Speaker 2 I guess I've finished it. I've beaten it one time, so I guess it counts as finishing it.
No? Oh,

Speaker 1 Nick's mad about it. Nick's mad about it.

Speaker 2 I'd give you a plate there, but you know,

Speaker 2 everyone's making their own rules.

Speaker 1 It's on the other side. I have completed a run of Hades more than once,

Speaker 1 but I didn't play it all the way through forever.

Speaker 2 Yeah, you got to get through 10 times to to play. Yeah, no, thank you.

Speaker 1 Nope.

Speaker 2 Number 125, Resident Evil 4.

Speaker 2 All right, so none of you have played the remake as far as I know, right? I finished the remake, so I'm going to get finishing this one. No, no, no.
It's a no-blade all the way around.

Speaker 2 Nobody really remembers. I finished it.
I love it. What are you talking about? No, just nothing.

Speaker 2 Let's just, for the sake of

Speaker 2 it,

Speaker 2 you played it too, right? I finished it.

Speaker 2 It Ito Rich.

Speaker 2 Wow, that's a Grand Slam.

Speaker 1 I have not.

Speaker 2 It's going, going, gone. I have not played it.
Resident Evil 4, 125. I haven't played the remake, I don't think.

Speaker 2 Oh, wow. You were out when we covered it.
Yeah, that's it. That's it.
I'll still give it a Grand Slam because three of us have finished it. I think you would like it, Heather.
It's really good.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I'm sure it is. Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution for PS2.
I played this game. I played it.

Speaker 2 I've not played this. I got to be honest, I don't remember the difference between an evolution and virtue of fighter for vanilla.

Speaker 2 Who knows? And I don't mean vanilla is a derogatory. It's just that's what people say for the base game of something.
They call it the vanilla version, but vanilla is a game. It's

Speaker 1 like Thief's End for the PlayStation 4. I have finished this game.
I've played this.

Speaker 2 I played this game. I should finish that one.

Speaker 1 Super Smash Brothers Ultimate for Switch.

Speaker 1 I have...

Speaker 1 Played the game.

Speaker 2 I've played it. I feel like I have to say something about it.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 There's no way that that it has the most content in any game, but the amount of content in this game to me is shocking. It is staggering.
I'm Sayo Sakurai with each Smash Bros.

Speaker 2 iteration and packs more and more in. So yeah, there's a ton to do in this game.
It's like, it feels like the biggest game there is, but it's not. But

Speaker 2 it feels massive. I've played it.
I think I've played it. No, there you go.

Speaker 2 I've played one of them, at least. Oh, this is the one where the single player mode is World of Light.
Yes, I did finish the World of Light. I'll give myself a finish for this one.

Speaker 2 Ranch is on the board, too. That's a...
Look, the bases are loaded. Bases are loaded.
We're at number 129. The one with bases are loaded for all four of us.

Speaker 2 Paper Mario, a regular Paper Mario for Nintendo 64. I finished this game.
I love this game. Not played.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 It's interesting that's higher than Thousand Year Door, which I think is better, the sequel. Next up.
I didn't even know that there was a Paper Mario 1. I thought Paper Mario 1 was Thousand Year Door.

Speaker 2 What the hell do I know? No, there was a Paper Mario for the N64 before the GameCube version. Ridiculous.

Speaker 1 Wipeout XL for the original PlayStation. I played this.

Speaker 2 I'll be honest, I never played Wipeout XL.

Speaker 1 I don't think I have played XL either. I played Wipeout, but not XL.

Speaker 2 Inside.

Speaker 2 Inside. Finished Inside.
Inside. Great.
Did we cover this on the podcast? Yeah, one of my favorite games ever. Finished.
Great game.

Speaker 1 I think I finished it. I know I've played it.

Speaker 2 It would be impossible not to. I think if we did it on the show, you must have played it, finished it because it was like three, it's three hours long.
Yeah,

Speaker 1 I think I finished it. It was slightly longer than three hours.
Oh, is this the one with the big bug guy at the end? Like, he's like the rat king of a man yeah yeah yeah okay yeah

Speaker 2 yes

Speaker 2 it might be nine hours actually yeah it might be nine hours i finished this yeah

Speaker 1 that's our first all finished right

Speaker 2 out of here that's a freddie freeman walk-off home run holy

Speaker 2 walk-off grand slam world of warcraft no who can finish world of warcraft but i put untold hours into this game when it launched and through its first expansion and then i was like i gotta walk away never played i've never played world of warcraft that's interesting i played it You played a ton of Final Fantasy 11.

Speaker 2 You played it, Ranch? I've played World of Warcraft. Wow.
I feel like we should do an episode on it. I feel like World of Warcraft is one of the most played games.

Speaker 2 I did play or I did play messing around with it when they did the

Speaker 2 new, like the. Yeah, the Realm Reborn or whatever the fuck was called it.
That wasn't it. That was Final Fantasy 14, but the one where they rebooted it back from

Speaker 2 the very first iteration. Yeah.
All right, next up. Flip Note Studio.
Hey,

Speaker 1 awesome. I've played this.

Speaker 2 And this is different than the Flip Note that comes packaged in the DS, right?

Speaker 2 This is a separate game.

Speaker 1 133 of the top games of all time. Flip Note Studio for the DS.

Speaker 2 Yes, it was a successor to the one that was fit. No, Flip Note Studio 3D was the successor.
Okay. So this was the original.

Speaker 1 This is the built-in FlipNote. Okay.

Speaker 2 FlipNote's fun. Yeah, so I messed around with this.
I don't know if it's a game or something, but it's fun. It's great.

Speaker 2 We got another winning 11 World Soccer Winning 11-7 International, the 134th game ever, best game ever made. I, according to Metacritic, I I did not play this game.
No.

Speaker 1 No plays. It's an error.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 Forza, Forza Horizon 4. Delisted.
Is it really? It's been delisted. Yeah.

Speaker 2 I did not play this. Is this the new one? The newest one? No, 5 is the newest one.
Okay. Oh, I have not played Forza 4.
5 coming to PS5 also.

Speaker 2 I have not played 4.

Speaker 2 136, God of War 3 for PS3. I did play.
I finished.

Speaker 1 God, I don't know that I've played this game.

Speaker 2 Oh, my God. It's so, it's so fucking good.
It's fucking awesome.

Speaker 1 I don't know if I've played God of War 3 on the PS3.

Speaker 2 That doesn't ring true to me. You might be able to play it on the you can play it on the PS5.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I'm sure I can.

Speaker 2 And I think you should.

Speaker 1 I probably can play it on my PS3.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Oh yeah, you have that.

Speaker 1 NFL 2K3.

Speaker 2 I definitely still play in the NFL 2Ks in this era. No.
I have no memory of 2K3 specifically. I guess cover athlete Brian Urlacher,

Speaker 2 but I did play this game. No.

Speaker 1 Nope.

Speaker 1 No place for me and no place for me for NHL 2002.

Speaker 2 Huge blind spot for me. The 138th game of all time.
I have never played. The best game ever made.
I've never played NHL 2002. Never.

Speaker 2 I'd never really gotten NHL games. It's tricky to rocko, rhyme to rocko, rhyme.
That's right. On time, it's tricky.
That's the sex tricky I played. Played.
Finished.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 Ah, it's tricky, tricky, tricky, tricky. You know, I used to like EA Sports.
Big.

Speaker 2 The guy you just said big.

Speaker 2 That guy fucking rules.

Speaker 2 EA Sports. Big.

Speaker 2 It's in the game.

Speaker 2 Prince of Persia, Sands of Time, too low.

Speaker 2 If this was my list, it'd be much higher. Yeah, sure.

Speaker 2 Finished, played a million times lower.

Speaker 1 I have finished the original PlayStation 2, Prince of Persia, Sands of Time.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I finished this game. Uncharted 3,

Speaker 2 Drake's Deception. I did not finish.
Played this game.

Speaker 2 I don't even know that I played this game. Wait, no, I finished this game.
I did finish this game. I remember.
This is the one I came back to. I finished this during the pandemic.

Speaker 2 It's a PS3 Favoritos.

Speaker 2 I did not finish the PS3 Favoritos version, but I did finish Uncharted 3.

Speaker 1 I have finished Uncharted 3, Drake's Deception, and I think I played it in 3D on my 3D TV.

Speaker 2 Wow.

Speaker 2 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, I am in the process of playing right now. And

Speaker 2 when we do this exercise for episode 400, I'll be able to say that I finished it. We're certainly never doing this again.

Speaker 2 But

Speaker 2 I've finished this.

Speaker 1 I have only played Rebirth. I have not finished it.

Speaker 2 Matt, I'm proud of you for finishing this. I'm proud of me, too.
And that undoes you not having played Final Fantasy Nine.

Speaker 1 Or Minecraft.

Speaker 1 Rock band.

Speaker 2 Rock band. I

Speaker 2 played rock band.

Speaker 2 I finished this. Yeah, played.
Lock all the songs of my brothers. Let's go.

Speaker 1 We played it.

Speaker 2 Super Mario Brothers Wonder. Oh, I finished this.

Speaker 2 What a delightful game.

Speaker 1 I did not finish this. I switched over to Sonic,

Speaker 1 the Sonic that came out at the same time.

Speaker 2 Yeah, how'd that go?

Speaker 1 I also dropped that game, too.

Speaker 2 Super Mario Brothers Wonder is a lot of fun, but I'm looking back on it, and you know what? I like 3D World more. I think 3D World is, I mean, don't even fucking, we don't have time.

Speaker 2 Next one. Zenobag Chronicles 3.
No, I've never played Xenobay Chronicles.

Speaker 1 Never. This is an expansion pass wave 4 Future Redeemed.
Wow. Not Xenobag Chronicles 3.
I have not played Xenobag Chronicles 3 expansion pass wave 4 Future Redeemed.

Speaker 2 I've not played it.

Speaker 2 We can't do it.

Speaker 2 Come on. I have not played it.

Speaker 2 Can we go back real quick? Expansion Pass Wave 4 Future Redeemed? What is this? Fucking Kingdom Hearts?

Speaker 2 For the listener at home, my hands are around Nick's neck.

Speaker 2 Bloodborne was on my list for

Speaker 2 Backlog Thunderdome. It is still live.
I am going to get to it. But when I used RNG to pick the next game I was going to play, it was Finas VIII Rebirth.
So Bloodborne remains in

Speaker 2 my backlog, rather. I said Blacklog because we're looking at Bloodborne unplayed.
I booted up Bloodborne for the first time not long ago and haven't mentioned it. Wow.

Speaker 2 I played like two hours of Bloodborne. Wow.
It's cool. But

Speaker 2 I got other stuff to do. I do want to play it.
So I'll say played.

Speaker 1 I have played and not beaten Bloodborne.

Speaker 2 Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem. Oh, that takes me back to the GameCube days.
I played this game and it is cool.

Speaker 1 I have not played Sanity's Requiem Eternal Darkness.

Speaker 1 I should have. I should have.
I knew it was great at the time, and I didn't play it.

Speaker 2 I've never even heard of this.

Speaker 1 It's such a great, it's supposed to be like such a great game.

Speaker 2 It's really cool in the kind of of Kojima way, it has like it kind of fucks with your experience of playing the game to simulate the player going insane. Oh, wow.
And that's part of what's happening.

Speaker 2 Sounds like it might be Sanity's Requiem. Matt, that's a good way to say it.

Speaker 1 Warcraft 3, Reign of Chaos.

Speaker 2 I did play Warcraft 3, Reign of Chaos. I did not finish this single player game.
Not played it, but I have to say, the Warcraft guy, iconic.

Speaker 2 That guy? Great.

Speaker 1 Love his design. Like green orc guy?

Speaker 2 Yeah, he looks awesome.

Speaker 1 Sort of yellow-green. I have not played Warcraft 3.

Speaker 2 I always liked the Warcraft RTSs over the StarCraft RTSs. Maybe that's heresy to

Speaker 2 the,

Speaker 2 you know, the Blizzard fandom, but I liked, I had more fun with Warcraft 3 than with StarCraft 2. But I'm not a big RTS guy, so what the fuck do I know?

Speaker 2 I give myself a finished for The Sims. I feel like it.
I've played The Sims.

Speaker 1 I played The Sims.

Speaker 2 If you've tried to make your Sims fuck each other, you've played The Sims.

Speaker 1 I played The Sims until I made myself and it sat down and played the computer, and I was playing the computer at the same time, and I thought I was going to put a gun in my head.

Speaker 2 I had my first run through The Sims, I was like, I made two characters, and I gave them, like, I was like, the way I was role-playing is that they were brothers, that they were two brothers, like living together, and they started fighting.

Speaker 2 I remember them making out of first. I was like, no, we don't do it.
What are you doing? Activated wider mode.

Speaker 1 Sid Meyers, Gettysburg, exclamation point.

Speaker 2 This is a Sid Meyers game. I had never played.
I never played Gettysburg. I'm sure it has aged well.

Speaker 1 I have not played this one. I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 I think Gettysburg is more of a war sim,

Speaker 2 if memory serves, but

Speaker 2 I shouldn't try to speak on it with any sort of authority.

Speaker 2 Banjo-Kazooie. Oh, I finished Banzo-Kazooie.
151. I've watched.
I've never played it. I've seen it being played.

Speaker 1 I've played it,

Speaker 1 and that was as far as I got. It did not grab me.

Speaker 2 Celeste, I finished one of my favorite games of all time. There's a poster of it on my wall.
I've played it. It's so fucking good.
I got to get back into it. Which one is this? Celeste is a, this is a

Speaker 2 precision platformer. It has a wonderful, pristine pixel art aesthetic.
And

Speaker 2 you are ascending a mountain while also dealing with the character's internal turmoil.

Speaker 1 I think I played this for like literally one minute.

Speaker 2 I think all of us would love Celeste because it is tough as nails. It is a fucking hard platformer with a really rewarding story.

Speaker 2 It became a bit of a meme because everybody on like Reddit and stuff would post about it as like a hidden gem, but everybody knows about it.

Speaker 2 Right. Very popular game.
So, as Bill Simmons would say, so overrated or so underrated, it's now overrated. Yeah.
This is this is a screenshot of Celeste in case that. Yeah, it's fucking.

Speaker 1 No, it does not jock my morning.

Speaker 2 I think I haven't played it. I think both of you would absolutely like it.
I got to boot it back up. Fuck.
It's fucking great. I should play through it.

Speaker 1 Forza Motorsport Sport 2005.

Speaker 2 No.

Speaker 1 No. I'm going to say no.

Speaker 2 Wow.

Speaker 1 So we're going to miss.

Speaker 2 Forza Horizon 5, 154. I have played this.

Speaker 1 I have played this. It's great.
It's fun.

Speaker 2 I'm not a car guy. Even though people were like,

Speaker 2 you can just drive around. It's great.
I was like, I don't know. You don't like being in a car in real life.

Speaker 1 Yeah, you don't like.

Speaker 1 You take Waymos.

Speaker 2 That's true. I do like the Waymo experience.

Speaker 2 I like the train experience more than the Waymo experience, but I do like the Waymo.

Speaker 2 Can I say this? Yeah. We have Waymo games to get through.

Speaker 2 We are halfway done.

Speaker 2 We're more than halfway halfway done. We're more than halfway done.

Speaker 2 You were talking earlier, Heather, you had a memory of playing a game on the floor.

Speaker 2 This was my game on the floor. My staying with my brother at the time,

Speaker 2 and I had a fucking TV on the floor and a PlayStation 1 sitting next to it, playing Vagrant Story. That's when I finished this game.

Speaker 2 And I loved it. This is my favorite games of the generation.

Speaker 1 I have played tons of Vagrant Story. I have not finished it.
And that's me owning up to the fact that I haven't finished Vagrant Story. It deserves a remaster.

Speaker 2 Yeah, this would be a rad remaster because because the art style is so good. Every time I mod a Vita or a PSP, this game is added to it with the intention of playing, but I've never played it.

Speaker 2 Advance Wars for the Game Boy Advance. I finished this game.
I got into this

Speaker 2 in my pocket.

Speaker 1 Wow, I have not played this.

Speaker 2 It's really fun. It's really fun.
But Heather, I don't think you would like it because it's turn-based, but it's very fun. Team Fortress 2, I mean, I played this game.

Speaker 2 I don't know if I could say if I played it. I did not play Team Fortress 2.
No, but I like the way the guys look. I like them.

Speaker 2 The guys look great, and they also, like, it's, you know, this was like the first of the kind of class-based shooters.

Speaker 2 I guess you'd call them hero shooters now, although it was not really the same thing. Next up, System Shock 2 for the PC.
I played. I did not finish System Shock 2, but System Shock 2 rips.

Speaker 2 Never played.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 Really, really cool. I mean, it's like the spiritual

Speaker 2 predecessor for

Speaker 2 Bioshock.

Speaker 1 Is this the first? No, it's the second mainline Final Fantasy game on that fucking list.

Speaker 2 Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 12?

Speaker 1 Yeah, because it was 9 was the only other

Speaker 2 mainline game so far on the list. That's it? Yeah.

Speaker 1 Because 7 Rebirth is not necessarily

Speaker 2 winner. Final Fantasy 12 finished.
12 finished.

Speaker 1 Not played. Oh my God.
So good. So fucking good.

Speaker 2 Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, I have played. This is one I've been meaning to finish, especially once I really, really got into Cyberpunk and played through Cyberpunk twice.

Speaker 2 I was like, I should go back and finish Witcher, but Witcher 3. Never really.
I've played Witcher 3.

Speaker 1 I have not finished it or even really gone that far in the game.

Speaker 2 I've played like an hour of it. Yeah.
Super Mario World 2, I'm sorry, Super Mario World, Super Mario Advance 2. That's the way the title is structured.
Yeah, I did finish this.

Speaker 2 I finished Super Mario World, one of my favorite games ever, but I did finish this again on the Game Boy Advance. I finished this.

Speaker 2 If my Game Boy Advance could log the hours of the games that I played, this would be up there so far.

Speaker 1 I played it on the Advance, but I finished it on the Super NES. So there's that.

Speaker 2 I always love when you see Mario with a power-up. There, he's just holding a feather.
It's like, that's what he he does. Yeah, grabs it and holds on to it.
He's on his Yankee Doodle shit right there.

Speaker 1 ESPN NFL 2K5.

Speaker 2 I'll be honest, I don't think I played this one because once they added the ESPN branding, I think I was maybe I had maybe fallen off of the 2Ks.

Speaker 2 What if I told you guys I've played this game and I owned it for

Speaker 2 the PlayStation 2? Totally believe it. It has a career mode where you can sort of rub elbows with celebrities.
Oh, yeah. David Arquette's in the game.
I have not played this.

Speaker 2 I did meet cover athlete Terrell Owens before. I sat next to him one time at a, I was a seat filler filler at the Espes.
Wow. Very strange.
Yeah. Yeah.
Super Smash Brothers Melee. Finish this game.

Speaker 2 Come on. What are we doing?

Speaker 1 I've played this. I've never played melee.

Speaker 2 Oh my God. You're not a Smash Brothers guy.

Speaker 1 I'm not a Smash Brothers guy.

Speaker 2 You don't like those platform fighters. Smash Brothers Melee is a fantastic game and the competitive scene is unbelievable.
It's the one that people play more, I think. Yeah.

Speaker 2 for still still i believe it as a bit as a more vibrant scene than than ultimate than the current smash brothers virtual tennis for dreamcast uh oh boy this game was awesome awesome.

Speaker 2 I played this and I was very excited to play the shit out of it. So funny.
Just to we shouldn't spend too much time, but the poses of tennis couldn't look any less cool than they do, unfortunately.

Speaker 1 Yeah, they're they're they don't look great.

Speaker 2 I think it's a fantastic sport. It's a very fun sport to watch being played.
It's like very exciting. These photos are humiliating on this on the box art for this game.

Speaker 1 I have played virtua tennis.

Speaker 2 Look, let me give it give you three options.

Speaker 2 I know we got we don't have a lot of time pong

Speaker 2 virtua tennis we sports tennis what's the best tennis game i mean it's got to be we sports tennis i think i think it's pong i think it might be pong i love we sports tennis we sports tennis is really cool i like

Speaker 2 i don't know that pong's good i just don't know that i would care to play it now anymore it's just such a perfect design yeah it's great virtual tennis is awesome roam total war i never played roam total war Never played it.

Speaker 1 Never played it.

Speaker 2 One of those hardcore War Sims that is a fervent fandom. I'm sure one of our listeners, we have a listener out there, Rome Total War, Some Total Wars.
We haven't checked it into listeners in a while.

Speaker 2 Guys, are you mad? Yeah, do you like this?

Speaker 2 Is this bad?

Speaker 1 Forza Motorsport 3. I have not played lots of Forzas on this list.
Shocked, really.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 More Forzas than Gran Turismos at this point, I would say. Yep, Forza.
And not a single need for speed. Yeah.
Metacritic in the pocket of big Forza. You hate to see it.
Oh, man. Makes me sick.

Speaker 1 Fucking sick. I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 Not played it either. Me neither.
The car looks cool. Demon Souls.
Demon Souls for the PS5.

Speaker 2 Okay, so I played Demon Souls on PS3.

Speaker 2 I have the remaster on PS5

Speaker 2 unplayed.

Speaker 2 I've never played it, but I want to. I really do.
This is my first Souls game on PS5. And I've played it.
I've not finished it, but it's a game that I threaten to go back to myself.

Speaker 1 I have played the PS5 version, finished the PS3 version. I love Demon's Souls, so the world might be amended.

Speaker 2 You were an early advocate of Demon Souls. So the world might be amended.

Speaker 2 Back in the PS3 era.

Speaker 2 Before Dark Souls broke through.

Speaker 2 The

Speaker 1 Street Fighter VI.

Speaker 2 Street Fighter VI. I played Street Fighter VI.
I all played it. We all played it.
Yeah. Street Fighter VI is really fucking good.
It's fun. It's really, really good.

Speaker 2 I like Street Fighter 4 so much more than I do. Me too.

Speaker 1 And it's represented that way on this list, too.

Speaker 2 Yes. In particular, Super Street Fighter 4, I love it.
Undertale.

Speaker 1 Undertale. Which one is this?

Speaker 2 Oh, Undertale.

Speaker 2 This is a great indie RPG that I have finished. Toby Fox, right? Toby Fox, yes.
I finished it. I mean, I finally finished it.
You play this with a podcast? We talked about it with Zacho.

Speaker 2 You probably finished it.

Speaker 2 Okay, then I finished it. Yeah.
It was wonderful. Mother-inspired.
Meant to give a shout out to Stephen Fu, by the way, for Street Fighter VI. That's right.

Speaker 2 Past guest.

Speaker 2 Batman Arkham Asylum. I finished this game.
I actually, this is the thing. I think Arkham Asylum was, it's such a more confined, obviously, design than Arkham City.

Speaker 2 And that's part of what I found so appealing about it, which is maybe why I had the momentum to get through that game in Arkham City. It kind of fell off of.
It's a great one. I finished it.

Speaker 2 I have never played any of the Arkhams.

Speaker 2 Combat is really good. Very crunchy.
You feel like you're Batman breaking away. I think you'd love it.
Okay. It's really good.
Oh my God. Super Mario Sunshine.
I finished. And I will say this.

Speaker 2 Super Mario Sunshine. Fuck.
I can't fucking talk anymore. We got to stop doing this fucking shit.
We should just cut it off with 171 because I can't form words anymore.

Speaker 2 How stupid would it be if we got this far? We got a 90-minute episode. I can't talk.
We gotta fucking stop.

Speaker 2 Super Mario Sunshine. I had never finished back in the day, and I finally finished it when we covered it on the podcast.
Got that monkey off of my back, and it was very satisfying to finish it.

Speaker 2 Although I thought the end game was pretty weak. But yes, I finished this game.

Speaker 2 I've played this game.

Speaker 2 I think it sucks. I don't like it.

Speaker 1 I have not. It doesn't suck, man.

Speaker 2 I have not finished this

Speaker 1 issue. This Greg dog shit game.

Speaker 2 How dare you?

Speaker 2 Thief the Dark Project on PC. I played this game on PC back in the day.
I did not finish it, but this was another one that was

Speaker 2 kind of a really cool, slightly ahead of its time design. Again, kind of akin to an immersive.

Speaker 1 I can answer for both myself and Matt for Thief the Dark Project.

Speaker 1 I have not played it. Matt has finished it twice.
No,

Speaker 2 I've not. You know what?

Speaker 2 I'm very flattered by that because Thief does seem like a game that I would really, really love. I've not played it, but I would like to investigate.
Is that a dead franchise?

Speaker 2 They're still making those? They made one for the PS3, I think. Okay.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Man Come on. Where are we?

Speaker 1 Okay, I can answer this one again. I have not played it.
Matt has not played it.

Speaker 2 I mean,

Speaker 2 this is my life's blood right here. I finished this game.

Speaker 2 I mean, this was the Tony Hawk I played the most.

Speaker 1 Crazy, because my name is on the cover.

Speaker 2 Campbell, that's right. Kareem Campbell.
Yeah. Fire Emblem Awakening for the 3DS.
I did not play this. I've never played a

Speaker 2 Fire Emblem. I've never played one.

Speaker 1 I have not played this, and I didn't realize it was this good. Maybe I should get it for the 3DS.

Speaker 2 People love this one.

Speaker 1 It feels like a fun time.

Speaker 2 I have it on my 3DS.

Speaker 2 I have it.

Speaker 2 Fire Emblem feels like such a daunting thing.

Speaker 2 Age of Empires 2, the Age of Kings. I own this game.
I played this game.

Speaker 2 This is,

Speaker 2 again, I believe an RTS if memory serves.

Speaker 2 Not really my style of game, but a very good design. Can you imagine

Speaker 2 the three heads we see on the Age of Empires uh image here? Yeah, they're all kind of frowning, they're kind of upset that they had to be at war. Can you imagine if they were smiling instead?

Speaker 2 I mean, then we wouldn't have a game.

Speaker 1 I have not played Age of Empires, the Age of Kings. I am frustrated by the Viking representation with the horned helmet.
Yes, come on, guys.

Speaker 2 Make the horns bigger. No,

Speaker 2 they don't have horns.

Speaker 2 Final Fantasy 10, finished. Played.
Finished. Hey, that's another mainline Final Fantasy on the

Speaker 2 list. So, everyone's favorite? Not on here yet.
Wave Race 64. I have played.
Woof. I have played this.

Speaker 1 I loved this game and I've played it.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I did. I did really like it.
I mean, I guess I finished it.

Speaker 1 I definitely finished this game.

Speaker 2 I think it's time that Jet Ski Racing Games make a comeback. Why not?

Speaker 2 That one had the official jet ski license, as we can see on the cover. Yeah, this game felt

Speaker 1 so good. It is such a fucking Y2K aesthetic game.
Such a vapor wave game. It's so fucking good.
Let's go. Wave Race 64.

Speaker 2 There's Jet Ski Racing and American National Licensed to Drive Sweet 16.

Speaker 2 Is there really? Let's see if it's on the list. If it's on the list, we'll play it.

Speaker 2 Sid Meyer's also a Centauri. I mean, I've talked about this game on the podcast at some point.
This game is really cool.

Speaker 2 And I did, I mean, I finished it in the sense of I finished multiple runs through this game. But yeah, this is basically an extension of the Civilization franchise.
I think this was Firaxis' first.

Speaker 2 game, first development effort. And yeah, it was basically Civilization in Space.

Speaker 1 Sid Meyers is one of the, or Sid Meier, as a person in gaming, is one of those above-the-novel names. And there are so few names in, like, it's not like

Speaker 1 even Kojima's, it's not Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid, too.

Speaker 2 You know what I mean? Although now I think it is.

Speaker 2 Hideo Kojima presents Death Stranding, a Hideo Kojima game from Kojima Production. It's like he's not playing non-finic to make it for life.

Speaker 1 It's still not Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding.

Speaker 2 No, that's true.

Speaker 1 That's true. Like Sid Meier, like, put his name above the title on all these games.

Speaker 2 He was smart and, by all accounts, like a pretty humble guy who was just savvy about it. And I think someone had advised him that he should do that to kind of stake his claim.
I mean, it's smart.

Speaker 2 I mean, Sid Meier's civilization being the brand as opposed to civilization is like, is like Madden football. Yeah.
It's just a really, really savvy way to claim that.

Speaker 2 Okay, I'm the only one who's played this game, right? Right. Yeah.
Divinity original. I mean, we already talked about this, but yes, a played.
Played.

Speaker 1 Not played.

Speaker 2 Galactic Civilizations 2, Twilight of the Arnor, I have never played.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game. I haven't even heard of this one.

Speaker 2 I think this is a 4X game.

Speaker 1 We are now so entrenched in like...

Speaker 2 Yeah, this is going to be tough. The 120 we have left to get through is going to be tough.
But also, I don't think so. Necessarily.
I think there's going to be a lot of these that we know.

Speaker 1 So many fucking PC games on this list that were like obviously included on the list because if you had the internet at the time, you had a PC.

Speaker 2 This game came out in 2008. This is a much more modern game.
This is a really well-regarded Forex game.

Speaker 1 Oh, well, then

Speaker 1 I didn't play this because I was dealing with a lot of financial stuff at the time.

Speaker 2 I think what we're dealing with,

Speaker 2 you will see games that are like RTS games, that are war games, that are turn-based strategy games that have dedicated niche fandoms.

Speaker 2 And if you execute one of these really well, then it will be very well-reviewed and very well-received.

Speaker 2 So that's why it's maybe higher on the list despite being a little bit lower profile by the general gaming fandom. There are so many PC games on this list.
Who made it? The freaking woke mob?

Speaker 2 Yeah, we'll sick doge on Metacritic. Next up, Super Smash Brothers for Nintendo 3S and Wii U.
I finished.

Speaker 1 Played. Unplayed.
Guitar Hero 2. Wow.
I've played this game.

Speaker 2 Finished. I don't think I finished the campaign for Guitar Hero 2.
It's fucking awesome. I did.
I mean, I played a lot of it. It's the same as the other ones, but it just has cooler songs.

Speaker 2 Maybe I did, honestly. There it is.
I played a lot. Final Fantasy 7.
Finally,

Speaker 2 number 183. I finished Final Fantasy VII.
I finished it and love it.

Speaker 1 I have not finished Final Fantasy VII. I know I've told the story.
Yes.

Speaker 2 You're on the last. I'm stuck.

Speaker 1 I'm stuck and unable to.

Speaker 1 Here it is. Chrono Trigger.

Speaker 2 Chrono Trigger. Finally, number 184.
184.

Speaker 2 Now, this is the DS version, but we don't have to litigate that. But it is the DS version.
I have finished the DS version, so whatever. I like to play it.
I'm fanatic about it. It's cool.

Speaker 2 I mean, I should not have sold it to GameStop for

Speaker 1 I still own it. I've played it.
I have not finished it.

Speaker 2 I mean, with that said, Chronic Jerry, we dedicated a full episode to it. Yeah, it was.
One of the best games ever made. One of my favorite games ever.

Speaker 2 Only has risen in my esteem. Happy anniversary.
Yeah, we finished it. Final Fantasy 14 and Walker.
I have not played Final Fantasy 14. No, we've all threatened to get it.

Speaker 2 And I've bought, I think, up to this expansion.

Speaker 1 I've played Final Fantasy XIV for like six months.

Speaker 1 And then I was like, don't, I can't let this happen to me again. So I have not played Endwalker.

Speaker 2 I'm ready to get in. Was this in the Realm Reborn era or before that?

Speaker 1 This is after.

Speaker 2 So, okay, so this was after they destroyed the Earth and started anew. Yep.
Which, hey, maybe not a bad idea.

Speaker 2 Journey. Realm Reborn.
Oh, man. That'd be sick.
That'd be awesome.

Speaker 2 Journey, I finished. Finished.
Never played it. Wow.
Heather, I know, does not like Journey. I like Journey.
Conquer's Bad Fur Day for the Nintendo 64. I did not finish.
Not played.

Speaker 2 I found it kind of exhausting.

Speaker 1 But I played it. Played, not finished.

Speaker 2 I I like how rude he is. Yeah, I agree with you.
Medal of Honor. Medal of Honor.
Interesting.

Speaker 2 There was an era when Medal of Honor was going toe-to-toe with Call of Duty, and now Medal of Honor is completely faded. Anyway, I've never played the original Medal of Honor for PlayStation.

Speaker 2 Me neither.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game. I don't know that I've heard of it.

Speaker 2 Rock Band 2, I have played. Played.

Speaker 1 Played.

Speaker 2 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I have played. Finished? I would say I'd finished this.
I didn't finish. I didn't finish this.
Played. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Rex is back on the board.

Speaker 2 Eco.

Speaker 2 I mean, yeah, give me a finish for this one.

Speaker 2 Yeah, yeah finish i'll give you a half for that because i have not played eco oh man eco rocks i would hold up today to play it would okay well that's very cool metroid prime 2 echoes i played i did not finish metroid prime not played unplayed out of the park baseball 17.

Speaker 2 i know some people really get into this game again another one where it's like it's a very deep sim

Speaker 1 uh but i have not played it guys we fucked up we have to start all over again why because what we should be saying when we've played these games is got played.

Speaker 2 Okay, we'll back it up.

Speaker 2 Let's go back to number one, Ram.

Speaker 2 Are you fucking kidding me?

Speaker 1 It's our 300th episode. Why haven't we done this?

Speaker 2 Okay, so number one

Speaker 2 is

Speaker 2 got played. Got played.
All right, number.

Speaker 2 Do we say got finished? Do we finish it down? Got finished. All right.
Well, anyway.

Speaker 1 All right.

Speaker 2 192. Number two, Soul Caliber for the Sega Dream, guys.

Speaker 2 Nick's going from memory, which I'm shocked by.

Speaker 2 Yeah, because his mind's ruined.

Speaker 2 He did come up with this idea.

Speaker 2 Can we go back real quick? Jesse Thorne, I know, is really into this game.

Speaker 2 Shout out to Jesse Thorne. Shout out to Jesse Thorne.
Apparently, this game has no graphics. No, it's just a tech sim.
It's a tech sim. It's a tech sim, and it's like, it's super dicky.

Speaker 2 What's interesting there is the super unfavorable rating, just completely review-bombed probably from some sector of

Speaker 2 the hardcore baseball sim fandom. Next time I see Jesse, I'm going to have to ask him about this.
I'm blabbergasted by this.

Speaker 1 Is it like Zork, where it's like you are on a baseball stadium and you have to like go to Mount

Speaker 2 Dog? It's not a text adventure. It is just like a management.
So you've got like just rosters you're looking at and stats and you're just purely making decisions based off of that. That's cool.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's very abstract. Metro Infusion for Game Boy Advance, finish this game.
Love this game. I played this game.
I did not finish this one.

Speaker 1 Unfinished.

Speaker 2 The Witcher 3. This is one of the expansions, Wild Hunt, Blood and Wine.

Speaker 2 I did not play Blood and Wine.

Speaker 2 Not played.

Speaker 1 Unplayed.

Speaker 2 Final Fantasy VI, finished. Great game.
Not played.

Speaker 1 Got played.

Speaker 2 Rayman Legends.

Speaker 2 I have played Legend. I played this game.
I like Rayman. Got played.
I do like Rayman.

Speaker 1 I did not play. It's unplayed for me.

Speaker 2 Rayman Legends is pretty good. Huh.
Wow.

Speaker 2 UFO 50. I own UFO 50.
I played UFO 50. I did not go through all the content of UFO 50, but it is very cool.

Speaker 1 Is this the most recent game on the list?

Speaker 2 Or no, Metaphor? Yeah, maybe Metaphor. Yeah.
Around kind of the same time. Metaphor, Astrobot.
Yeah, both.

Speaker 1 UFO 58.

Speaker 2 This is one place 2024 releases.

Speaker 2 NFL 2005.

Speaker 2 So this is Madden. Oh, I'm sorry.
This is Madden NFL 2005. I must have played this game.
Unplayed. Unplayed.

Speaker 2 Against the Storm. Unplaying the Storm.

Speaker 1 I've never even heard of this, and it's from 2023.

Speaker 2 And we're at 200 with Against the Storm.

Speaker 1 This is unplayed for me.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I've not played Against the Storm. Holy shit.

Speaker 1 And it looks like it's got like Robin Hood. It looks like he's got a fox with a beard on it.

Speaker 2 That's covered. That's cool.
Against the Storm, a roguelike city builder. Nope.

Speaker 1 Is that a fox with a beard?

Speaker 2 I don't know. I think I'd be super into this.
I just never played it. What is that guy?

Speaker 1 Is that a... It looks like Robin Hood from the Disney cartoon, but he's got a beard.
Is that what he is?

Speaker 2 Yeah, it looks like a sort of like Badger Man.

Speaker 2 I think there may be as a general sort of furry-friendly aesthetic here. Yeah.
I don't know if he's...

Speaker 1 Oh, that's a bird lady.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 2 It looks pretty cool.

Speaker 1 I haven't, I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 I bet this game rips, and I bet I'd love it from 2023.

Speaker 1 Yeah, you haven't even played Kingdom Come 2.

Speaker 1 You got to play some more games, Nick. I'm sure he's played more on this list than either of us.

Speaker 2 Speaking of which, Myth of Fallen Lords, I did play this game. This is a 3D RTS that came out in the mid-90s.

Speaker 1 So many fucking PC games.

Speaker 2 Bungie game. No, I have not played this game.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 This was cool, but it was one of those ones where I was like, I didn't quite connect with it, but I appreciated its design. It looks cool.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 Medal of Honor, Allied Assault.

Speaker 2 I did not play Medal of Honor Allied Assault. No, me neither.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game. Little Big Planet 2 for the PS3.

Speaker 2 Backboy is so cute. Unplayed.
Unplayed. You know what? I think this one's an error.
Oh. Wow.
Yeah, I did not play a little bit of it.

Speaker 1 Unplayed for all of us. Microsoft's Flight Simulator.

Speaker 2 I played the Flight Simulator that this is referencing the 2020 release. I have played that version of Microsoft Fights.
I've played it as well.

Speaker 1 I think I finished this. If by finished, I mean crashed the plane into my own house.

Speaker 2 I saw a TikTok video the other day. You can get out of the plane now

Speaker 2 and walk around on the earth. And somebody put in the coordinates to Bohemian Grove and walked around Bohemian Grove.
Wow. There's stuff.

Speaker 1 Guitar Hero.

Speaker 2 Yeah, a banger. Absolutely finished.
Played. Yeah, I finished Guitar Hero.

Speaker 2 Slay the Princess. I have this on my, this is the pristine cut.
I have this on my wish list, but I have not gotten around to playing this. Wow.

Speaker 1 I have not played

Speaker 2 a princess. Not heard of this.
No, not played. Wrath of the Lich King.
This is a World of Warcraft expansion. Oh, boy.
I don't remember which expansion. Oh, it came out in 2008.

Speaker 2 Then I did not play this.

Speaker 2 I was done with WoW by then. Unplayed.
Too-eye, Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Speaker 2 Here's the thing. Metroid Prime 3, not on the list yet.
Metric Plan 2 and Remaster, and now the trilogy is in here.

Speaker 2 This is one of those things where I think Metroid Prime Trilogy is one of those most valuable games on the the secondary market because it did not have a huge run and the

Speaker 2 Wii unique release was for a long time the only time to the only way to play it on something approaching modern hardware.

Speaker 2 And it also, I think, had Wii aiming. But I did not play the Trilogy edition.
I did not get it for Wii.

Speaker 1 Unplayed.

Speaker 2 I mean, I guess, but I played the Metroid Prime games.

Speaker 1 Oh, look at this game. I was a teenage exocolonist released in 2022 for the PC.
I have not heard of this game.

Speaker 2 I'm not familiar with this game either. Look at this.
It's a narrative RPG with card-based battles. Ah, fuck.
I'm adding this to my wish list right now.

Speaker 2 This looks rad. Wow.
It's on sale for 3% off. I'm buying this.
Wow.

Speaker 1 Nick just bought the game live on the show.

Speaker 2 Nick just bought the 209th best game of all time according to Metacritic. Hey, you know what? No regrets.
No.

Speaker 1 That is what we do here on the 300th episode of Get Play.

Speaker 2 In case you're just tuning in, we're on 209 of 300 games for our 300 episode. In case you're wondering where that athletic greens ad money goes,

Speaker 2 goes to Mike Steve. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 Mad NFL 2001.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I played this. And you know what? This sucked.
This was a bad mad.

Speaker 2 Not playing football. I think it's way overrated.

Speaker 1 Unplayed and also disrespectful. They shouldn't have had football that year.

Speaker 2 No, they should. You know what? This was not the year for it, unfortunately.
I should not have done it. I think we needed football this year because that's what helped us.
Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 2 It was released. It was released in 2000.
That's a good point, Matt. So maybe we shouldn't have added in 2000.
People should have been focused on some other stuff. So something happened.

Speaker 2 I mean, it didn't happen. We're busy playing football.
Yep. When it happened, Baldur's Gate.
Oh, sure. You can enroll in my flight school.
A guy is fucking

Speaker 2 playing manager mode. Yeah.

Speaker 2 The original Baldur's Gate. Baldur's Gate.
Baldur's Gate 1. Another game I put a ton of hours into on PC and did not finish.
No. Unplayed.
Not played. But I played it.

Speaker 1 F1 challenge 99 through 02.

Speaker 2 And see, what I'm learning here is that F1 is not a new sport. F1's been around, apparently.

Speaker 2 Look, this is car game.

Speaker 2 I'm not really a car guy, and I did not follow F1. This is like finding out that Pickleball was invented in like the

Speaker 2 80s.

Speaker 2 Unplayed.

Speaker 2 Unplayed.

Speaker 1 Overwatch.

Speaker 2 Not played.

Speaker 1 Boy, this was a Zeitgeist D game for a bit. May still have a huge

Speaker 1 player base. I have only played Overwatch once.

Speaker 2 Is Overwatch, have they moved everyone over to Overwatch 2 now?

Speaker 2 I think so. I don't know if Overwatch servers are live.
And I think there was a stat that Overwatch of all the video game IP is the highest searched term in Pornhub.

Speaker 2 Yeah, people like to jack off to Overwatch. Yeah.
People get very horny for.

Speaker 2 I've never investigated it. Let me just see what some of these characters are real quick.
Overwatch, female characters.

Speaker 2 Okay, the link's purple. Interesting.

Speaker 2 That's weird. That's weird.

Speaker 2 These fucking AI shits are freaky.

Speaker 2 It's weird.

Speaker 1 It's like the website has like VHS tracking errors somehow.

Speaker 2 It's worn out. Bayonetta 2 have not.
I have not played a Bayonetta. Oh, wow.

Speaker 1 Bayonetta was super crazy and fun.

Speaker 1 I finished the first one. I think I have not played.
No, I have played the second one. I have played the Wii U one.

Speaker 2 I have the first one on Steam.

Speaker 2 I should play it on my Steam deck.

Speaker 1 Super fun. Super horny game.
Her proportions are crazy.

Speaker 2 Nick's buying it. Nick's buying it.
No, I've not played the bananas.

Speaker 1 Oh, Nick. You would love it.

Speaker 2 I bet I would love them.

Speaker 1 She got her ass all up in your business.

Speaker 2 Nick looks great.

Speaker 1 She got boobies that she's shown at the same time as her ass, and she's mean to you, Nick.

Speaker 2 Oh, my God.

Speaker 1 Are you kidding? Yeah, she's like, you don't deserve it.

Speaker 2 Oh, fuck.

Speaker 2 Klonoa 2. Oh, I love the Klonoa games.

Speaker 2 This one was kind of a disappointment for me, even though it's cool. I think Klonoa won.

Speaker 2 I just had higher expectations for the sequel, and then it just didn't really stand as a franchise, but I did play this game.

Speaker 2 I've never played Klonoa, but I have to say, I think he looks too much like Sonic characters to be to, and maybe that's why he didn't stand out on his own.

Speaker 2 I mean, he's kind of got to his own thing.

Speaker 1 I have not played it, and I find it disgusting that he's named after that body part.

Speaker 2 I love when a game like this is super high. IL2 Stermovic.
This is a World War II combat simulator, a hardcore flight sim.

Speaker 2 Everyone who plays this is on a fucking list.

Speaker 2 I don't know. I kind of love that niche fandoms get to have a game like this that they absolutely adore, but I never played this.

Speaker 1 No. I have not played Sturmovik.
It looks cool.

Speaker 2 Colony Wars. Oh, yeah.
I remember this game. I did play this and actually played this on PlayStation.

Speaker 2 This was one I had a long rental of. I rented this game and enjoyed it.
Wow.

Speaker 2 Not played it. Yeah, but

Speaker 1 I have not played this game, and I feel like this list is saying a lot about RTS games.

Speaker 2 This is not an RTS. This is more of a

Speaker 2 space sim sort of like a game.

Speaker 1 It looks like an RTS.

Speaker 2 I mean, the art makes it look like it could be that, but it's more of a shooter. Wow.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 I haven't played it.

Speaker 2 Free space.

Speaker 1 Free space simple.

Speaker 2 I would love it if this was

Speaker 2 a blank one.

Speaker 2 We're talking in bingo terms.

Speaker 2 God,

Speaker 2 we all get a played. You know, we should all get a played for free space.

Speaker 1 I was a games journalist for like three solid years of my life, and I have not even heard of this game.

Speaker 2 Yeah, never heard of free space. What the fuck? This is like what you're dealing with, though, is this is this is just like, again, it's its own sort of niche.
This is the,

Speaker 2 this is like the space sim.

Speaker 2 Uh, I believe these games were, I have not played the free spaces, but I, they were, they were the descent

Speaker 2 games, which I have played. The descent was like a space sim.

Speaker 1 This was more of like a little bit more of an open world like exploration sort of version of it i'm shocked and i'm i'm i'm gonna say something and you guys are gonna roll your eyes so hard that maybe they'll fall out of your head okay here we go i'm shocked that there isn't a single saturn game in the two top 218 oh brother like shut the fuck

Speaker 2 up

Speaker 2 No way. No,

Speaker 2 that is shocking. Do you think Knights would be in there?

Speaker 1 Well, the Castlevania game, which was supposedly better on the Saturn than on the PlayStation,

Speaker 1 there are PlayStation games on here, so I'm shocked that Castlevania Symphony of the Night isn't on this list.

Speaker 2 There are a handful of very heralded PlayStation games here. I mean, I think there just probably weren't enough Saturn games that were being reviewed

Speaker 2 en masse. But also...
Castlevania Symphony of the Night,

Speaker 2 we haven't seen even the PlayStation version on this list yet, which is a little bit sad. Nights into Dreams with Saturn, right?

Speaker 2 Yes.

Speaker 1 But also, fucking Dreamcast has been so overrepresented, it's crazy.

Speaker 2 Hey, I mean, they've listed every Dreamcast game.

Speaker 2 I think it's just a lot of it is timing. A lot of the, this is, I think what's heavily overrepresented here, if we look, is stuff that came out between like 1999 and 2006.
Yes.

Speaker 2 Like, I think there's a huge skew in terms of dates for,

Speaker 2 you know, and speaking of what we just, this one we're covering right now, Mario Tennis, which came out in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, which I have played. I'm sure it's fine.
I've not played it.

Speaker 1 I have not played Mario Tennis. It is fine.

Speaker 2 Split fiction. This is a, wow, is this the newest game on the list? This is game on the list.
220 came out on March 6th of this year. Holy shit.
Yeah, this game is really well regarded.

Speaker 2 I have not played it yet.

Speaker 1 Is this a game that you have to play with another person?

Speaker 2 I believe it is a mandatory co-op game.

Speaker 1 Holy shit. Is it local co-op?

Speaker 2 Yes. You could do it.
Yeah, you and Mary could play it. Oh, man.

Speaker 1 I got to show this to Mary. Split fiction.

Speaker 2 No, people really like this game. Shit.
I got to get around to it.

Speaker 2 I'm trying to convince Isabelle that she wants to play it with me. Seems like a fun wife game.
Yeah. I love my wife.
Me too.

Speaker 2 His wife?

Speaker 2 I love my own wife. But I also love Matt's wife.
I love Matt's wife too. We all love each other.
I love each other's wife.

Speaker 1 Okay, but you guys love my wife.

Speaker 2 I love Mary. Don't Mary Rocks.

Speaker 1 I don't like it.

Speaker 2 Wrestling Clay Cup Your Arsenal played. Blade finished.

Speaker 1 Unfinished. Unplayed.

Speaker 2 222

Speaker 2 Resident Evil remake for the GameCube. I did play the remake.

Speaker 1 Played. Not played.

Speaker 2 Good. It's a good remake.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 Metal Gear Solid. Snake Eater.

Speaker 2 Another Metal Gear Gear Solid 3

Speaker 2 listing here. And yeah, finish this.
Finished. Finished.

Speaker 2 Dragon Quest 9.

Speaker 1 No, 11.

Speaker 2 We got to end the podcast. I'm reading Roman numerals backwards.

Speaker 2 We got to talk before we're done.

Speaker 1 Echoes of an Elusive Age.

Speaker 2 Our theme song is by Ben Prumpty. BenPrumptyMusic.com.

Speaker 1 Definitive Edition. I don't know which one 11 is.

Speaker 2 I know which one 11 is. It's the most recent mainline one, and I did finish this game.
You guys both wanted me to get it so bad. It's awesome.
Yeah, and you guys got it for me.

Speaker 1 Oh, I finished this then. Yeah.
Okay, if it's the most recent one, I finished this.

Speaker 2 Yes, yes. This one's rad.
I've played it. I would like to start it over and play it again.
Tomb Raider. 1995.
Yeah, I played Tomb Raider. I played OG Tomb Raider.
Wow, you finished the OG Tomb Raider.

Speaker 1 Fuck yeah, I did.

Speaker 2 My mom played Tomb Raider.

Speaker 1 It was a lady that I could play as and shoot. Yeah.
Fuck, it was awesome.

Speaker 2 Twisted Metal Black for the PlayStation 2. Yeah, I played Twisted Metal Black.
I played this.

Speaker 1 I don't think I've played this. Huh.

Speaker 2 Spyro, Year of the Dragon. Oh, yeah, I played some Spyro.
And this is not the first Spyro. Wait, this isn't? No.
I think Spyro is... Is the first one just called Spyro Year of the Dragon?

Speaker 2 I think this is the one. It's just called Spyro the Dragon.

Speaker 2 Hold on. Year of the Dragon, it has to be the second or third.

Speaker 1 I have not played Spyro, Year of the Dragon.

Speaker 2 Boy, that is some confusing naming. Yeah.
I'm on Spyro games.

Speaker 1 I think there is a chance that I've only played...

Speaker 2 30 seconds of a Spyro game ever.

Speaker 1 Hold on. I think I played it at a kiosk at like a video game store and was like, yuck.

Speaker 2 I liked it, but it's just, I like Crash more. Spyro is cool.

Speaker 2 Spyro the Dragon. That's the first one I played.
Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage is the sequel. Spyro Year of the Dragon is number three.
Wow. So I did not play this game.
I didn't play the third one.

Speaker 2 So far, according to Metacritic, three is the best one. I missed out.

Speaker 1 Another Forza game.

Speaker 2 Speaking of threes, Forza Horizon 3,

Speaker 2 228 on Metacritic's list i did not play this not played unplayed

Speaker 2 okay the legend of zelda ocarina of time master quest

Speaker 2 was this an official re-release what the fuck is this it says for the gamecube yeah oh this was the re-release for the gamecube i mean i guess i'll give myself a a finish for this one no not played unplayed i've I've never played Master Quest.

Speaker 2 Well, we're just talking Ocarine of Time, right? This is just a reissue. I don't know what this is.
This is a fully reworked version. Hold on.
Oh, it's this? Okay, okay. Hold on.

Speaker 2 Master Quest was first made available for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003 on a special bonus disc that also contained the original Ocarine of Time.

Speaker 2 The disc was given out in limited quantities with pre-orders of the Wind Waker. Okay, so this is a game that I can't give myself a play for this one because this was a pretty limited release.

Speaker 2 And Metacritic, what the fuck do you think you're doing? It's kind of funny to listen to its own thing. We're trying to get through 300 games here, and then you're putting bullshit like this in there.

Speaker 2 Your credibility is slipping by the second.

Speaker 1 It's like they put Christmas nights only available via a magazine

Speaker 2 on their fucking list.

Speaker 1 I did not, no, I didn't play this.

Speaker 2 They're like a fucking list

Speaker 2 a DLC level that you can only get by buying a bottle of Sobey or something. What the hell are we doing?

Speaker 2 Reading this from the Zelda fandom wiki, the most notable feature of MasterQuest is that every dungeon in the game has been modified to increase the difficulty of the game.

Speaker 2 Each one features a different layout, changing the progression through the levels. Wow.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 I mean, I think this one is on the list by virtue of being basically a, uh, you know, a, a, a total conversion mod of Ocarina of Time, but

Speaker 2 uh, it's, or just an extensive mod of Ocarina of Time. But I, yeah, but I've, I cannot say that I played the Master Quest.

Speaker 1 I'm grumpy about this game being on the list. I'm fucking pissed off.

Speaker 2 Yeah, let's do it. 223 NCAA Football 2003.
I'm going to give myself a plate on this one.

Speaker 1 Unplayed.

Speaker 2 Unplayed. Those NCAA football games were

Speaker 2 good for a time and they went away for a while. Now they're back.
Kentucky Route Zero. This is a big blind spot for for me.
I've not played any of these games.

Speaker 1 Wait, didn't we play Kentucky Route Zero for the podcast?

Speaker 2 No, we did not. I think we talked about it.
We maybe floated it early on as like a week. Have you played this game? You might have.

Speaker 2 This is Act 3 specifically, but I guess if you played any Kentucky Route Zero, you can give yourself a play.

Speaker 1 It's a PC game, though, so I haven't.

Speaker 2 I think this is multi-platform. Yeah, it's become...

Speaker 1 You can play it on anything. I think I might have played Kentucky Route Zero.

Speaker 1 I don't know.

Speaker 2 I can't believe I'm going to play Minecraft when I get home. You should.
And you know what? You're not going to stop. I know you.
I'm going to become the shit out of it.

Speaker 2 I'm going to become fucking Steve.

Speaker 2 You can become Jason Momoa in that shitty looking movie. Hang on, hang on.
Just in case anybody wants to come on from the movie, the movie looks really cool, actually.

Speaker 1 I honestly don't know why that movie doesn't look good. I mean, like, it looks like Minecraft.

Speaker 2 Well, no, Heather, it looks like complete shit. I don't know what you're talking about.
But it looks like Minecraft.

Speaker 2 It looks like Minecraft. It just looks...

Speaker 2 The visual of it in terms of like the rendering the world, I think, looks okay.

Speaker 1 I mean, it could be worse. It could not look like Minecraft.

Speaker 2 No, that's true. But I think the real people sitting in with it, and then I think like everything that we've seen about the...

Speaker 2 Like, I mean, I think all the story shit and all the jokes are. It has one foot in, one foot out, right? Like, it sort of does look like it.

Speaker 2 And at the same time, also does not, because of the stuff that doesn't seem like it.

Speaker 1 So you think it should have gotten the Super Mario Brothers, the movie treatment?

Speaker 2 I think, or like the Lego movie or something, you know, just completely in-world looking.

Speaker 1 Crisis.

Speaker 2 Crisis. I'm having one currently.
Can it run crisis?

Speaker 1 Can it run crisis?

Speaker 2 You know, I never actually played crisis. I didn't give myself a no for this one.
It looks cool.

Speaker 1 It looks like a bold dude with a gun.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it kind of just looks like every kind of game. It is a real, I mean, like the

Speaker 2 graphics of this game

Speaker 2 were very impressive at the time and remained impressive. But I'm just not a big FPS guy.
No.

Speaker 2 Just before we get into the next inning here, I want to take a quick moment to shout out the beverage that I'm drinking to keep me nice and hydrated during the game.

Speaker 2 Sparkling Water, Guava Sao Paulo, Naturally Essenced LaCroix.

Speaker 1 That is not an ad. You just did that for no reason.

Speaker 2 I'm doing the baseball thing again. But since we are stopped down, it's the seventh inning stretch here on the get played top 300 games countdown.
Everybody join in. Take me out to the ball game.

Speaker 2 Take me out. Wait, hold on.

Speaker 2 This song might not be public domain. It might not.

Speaker 2 It's a baseball time at the Gay Ball Game Park.

Speaker 2 We're having fun.

Speaker 2 I think we fucked up by not having hot dogs in the room. Oh, my God.
We should have gotten hot dogs.

Speaker 1 It smells like hot dogs.

Speaker 2 I feel like a hot dog.

Speaker 2 Ninja Gaidan for Xbox. I did play this game.
I thought it was really cool. Not played.
Played. I'm playing two, though.
Yeah, you're playing two. You're playing the remaster of two.
That's right.

Speaker 2 Okay, this is the PSP God of War war that i did not play chains of olympus one of them i did not i did not play either of these this is one of three games i own for my psp wow

Speaker 2 and i i finished it and i love it and you know depending on who you ask some people might say that the psp games are their favorite god of war people love those they're very very good i have played this one i have not finished it DOA 2 Hardcore.

Speaker 2 Is this the

Speaker 2 yeah, I played this game.

Speaker 2 But is this the beach volleyball game? No, this is the boogie fighters. Yeah.
It's a fighting boob.

Speaker 1 Yeah, it's like you fight, and every time you punch, the boobs go up and down.

Speaker 2 Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 I have played Dear Alive.

Speaker 2 No, this was, as you can imagine, as a,

Speaker 2 gosh, a 10-year-old when this came out, extremely coveted.

Speaker 2 But nah, I didn't get it.

Speaker 2 Heather, as a fighting, as the

Speaker 2 person on the fighting game beat on this podcast, what did you think of Dead or Alive, you know, putting aside the fan service content? What do you think of it as a fighting game?

Speaker 1 I thought it was a good fighting game, and I actually think

Speaker 1 it was

Speaker 1 not taken seriously because of the boob physics. I thought that the game itself was really good.

Speaker 2 Boob physics are always getting in the way of people realizing that the game is good.

Speaker 1 Well, like,

Speaker 1 if you do like a roundhouse kick, you don't want those boobies going side to side. No.

Speaker 2 One thing I liked about that game is that there were

Speaker 2 like

Speaker 2 leaves in it. Yeah, that's what he was going to say.

Speaker 2 I guess two things I'll look at about the game. No, there were like there were the reversals were real.
The reversal system was very satisfying.

Speaker 2 A lot of cool animations for that. All right, Word of Warcraft, the Burning Crusade.
I feel like this is a 2007 seven expansion. No, I would read too.
There you go with Metacritic.

Speaker 2 Metacritic, you fucked up.

Speaker 2 But no,

Speaker 2 again, I'd fallen off of WoW by that point. I think.

Speaker 1 MLB 10.

Speaker 2 Wait, was that the first one that added Blood Elf? Show. So I might have played that one.
Oh,

Speaker 1 we got to stop for Nick.

Speaker 2 Who could say? MLB 10 the show. No, no, no.
Give him time. Give him time, Nick.
Give him time, Nick. Okay, let's go.
No, because we're not in any way. No, that was the first expansion.

Speaker 2 I did play Burning Crusade. That was the one that added Blood Elf.
Okay, thank God. Yeah, I did play that one.

Speaker 1 Nick is pointing at the floor. There is no computer on his desk.

Speaker 2 By cataclysm, I was out, but

Speaker 2 I played Burning Crusade.

Speaker 2 MLB 10 the show. Matt,

Speaker 2 as the baseball fan, do you ever mess around with the shows? I've messed around with the more recent the shows, but I have not played this one. I like the name, the show.

Speaker 2 I do like it. It's a good name.

Speaker 1 Unplayed. Like the name.

Speaker 2 Shadow of the Colossus. Yes, absolutely.
Finished. Finished.
Finished this game.

Speaker 2 And it's out of here.

Speaker 2 Yoshi's Island, Colon, Super Mario Advance 3, finished. Finished.

Speaker 2 I played that very recently on your Game Boy Advance

Speaker 2 in this room. Wow.

Speaker 2 Star Wars Jedi Knight, Dark Forces 2. I played this game.
Not played. Unplayed.

Speaker 2 This was the, I mean, this shit got complicated because there was Dark Forces, then the sequel of Dark Forces was Star Wars Jedi Knight, Dark Forces 2.

Speaker 2 Then they made a sequel to Star Wars Jedi Knight, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2.

Speaker 2 It became its own thing.

Speaker 1 Confusing.

Speaker 2 Longest Journey. I did play the Longest Journey.
And you know what? People were like, oh, Longest Journey. You're going to love Longest Journey.
And I just didn't click for me for some reason.

Speaker 2 In many ways, this episode is kind of the longest journey.

Speaker 1 Matt, why are you so grumpy about it?

Speaker 2 I think it's because it's like I'm just adding color to the show.

Speaker 1 Oh, is that what we're doing?

Speaker 2 Okay.

Speaker 1 Let me.

Speaker 2 Pooh Pooh Pee Pee.

Speaker 1 Yeah, let me.

Speaker 2 I like that. Let me let me try.
All right.

Speaker 1 I'll add color. I'll add color.
I'll figure it out. I'll figure it out.

Speaker 2 All right. Here we go.

Speaker 1 Longest journey unplayed.

Speaker 2 Unplayed.

Speaker 1 ESPN NFL football

Speaker 1 for the Xbox released in 2003.

Speaker 1 Unplayed for me.

Speaker 2 Not played this one. I did not play this.
Was good. Excuse me, man.

Speaker 2 Like that? That's pretty good. All right, that's a little color.

Speaker 2 It wasn't at me, so I'm fine with it. But this was the 2K franchise, and they just dropped the 2K from it.
Yeah. And we're just called it ESPN Football, just leaning fully into the license.

Speaker 2 Obviously, a mistake.

Speaker 2 Generally, unfavorable by the users, though. Yeah, it's a 2.3 for users.

Speaker 2 We can't click on the user rate.

Speaker 1 15 user rates.

Speaker 2 I do kind of want to click on the user rate. Only 15.
Only 15. Yeah, we can do it.
We can investigate.

Speaker 1 Let's take a stop down. It's a good opportunity for us to talk.

Speaker 1 No, no, no. Look it up.
I am.

Speaker 2 I had to reboot my iPad.

Speaker 1 Oh, my. Reboot it.
Did it get that hot?

Speaker 2 Hey, he magnetizes it every 30 minutes just in case.

Speaker 2 The last thing he looked up was the fucking dead or alive shit. What was on his iPad? I think it just sort of like auto-new to do it.

Speaker 2 It's like the NSA is force resetting his shit. ESPN.

Speaker 1 We can't catch the guy, but we can try and get him to stop.

Speaker 2 Damn, he's just too fast.

Speaker 1 This

Speaker 1 IP address is constantly refreshing in totally different regions all over the world. They're like, this guy's the head of anonymous.

Speaker 2 Oh, God, can you imagine if Nick was anonymous, if he was the head of anonymous? Hey, buddy.

Speaker 2 We are Legion, this guy. Okay, let's see.
Negative reviews. Oh, there aren't any.

Speaker 2 actual there's just ratings there aren't actual reviews that's a bummer that is a bummer yeah so but yeah, overwhelmingly, people have just

Speaker 2 review bomb this game. I'm sure there's not a weird reason for it.

Speaker 1 Yeah, probably not.

Speaker 2 I'm sure it's fine.

Speaker 1 Yeah, totally okay.

Speaker 2 When that happens, it's never for a weird reason.

Speaker 1 Yeah,

Speaker 1 it's never because the guy who made the game said that women deserve to vote.

Speaker 2 Yeah. GamePro gave it a perfect score and said, a masterful effort.
It literally redefines itself within the span of one video game football season and is a worthy preseason Pro Bowl pick.

Speaker 2 What if the low user scores are because they put the wrong ball in the game?

Speaker 2 It's like, wait, that's not a football. It's a fucking basketball, you idiot.
I'm supposed to catch this thing.

Speaker 1 Another Tony Hawks Pro Skater. This is number two.

Speaker 1 Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2, unplayed.

Speaker 2 Played it, loved it, finished it. God, the school 2 in Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2, one of the great video game levels ever made.
I also finished Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2.

Speaker 1 All right, up next, we've got Halo Reach.

Speaker 2 This is where I tap in with Halo Baby. Finish this one.
Love it. Matt loves Halo Reach.
I had not played Halo Reach. Unplayed.

Speaker 2 It's an unbelievable game. And you know what? Maybe even worth covering for the show.
It's very, very good. Wow.

Speaker 1 Can you play Reach on modern hardware?

Speaker 2 Yes. Okay.
Yeah, it's really, really good.

Speaker 1 Galactic Civilizations 2, Dark Avatar.

Speaker 2 Yeah, another Galactic Civilizations, this, you know, I think this is an expansion for Galactic Civilizations 2, this 4X space franchise that's well regarded that I've never played.

Speaker 1 I thought Dark Avatar didn't come out until this December.

Speaker 2 Oh boy, don't get me started on Fire and Ash.

Speaker 2 Can't fucking wait. That was really, really good.

Speaker 1 I was trying to do a You Guys.

Speaker 2 I really loved it. I loved it.
I want to point out that the slogan for the tagline for the game is making the galaxy safe for oppression, not from. Yeah, that's fun.
For. Yeah, it's fun.

Speaker 2 You get to play. It's leaving the Dark Avatar.
You can be a bad guy. I see.
It's fun to be bad sometimes. Oh, it feels good to be bad.
Mass Effect finished. I loved it.
I've played this.

Speaker 1 I think I've played the first Mass Effect. Mass Effect is awesome.

Speaker 2 Oh!

Speaker 2 No one lives forever. This game is great.

Speaker 1 This is the operative, No One Lives Forever, for PC.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I mean, just generally just known as, and remembered as No One Lives Forever. So is it a spy game? Yeah, this is Austin Powers game? This is very much.
I mean, this is the thing. It's like...

Speaker 2 This is very Austin Powers adjacent, like in terms of tone. And it's actually a quite funny game, at least was for its era.

Speaker 1 It has a great soundtrack and uh you know it's it's very fun this i played this game and i quite enjoyed it i thought i was a gamer but until i saw this list i i maybe maybe i'm not a gamer i've i haven't played this game i've not played this either i've played video games my whole life and i i like literally every day every day of my entire life i've played video games and yet somehow I have not heard of No One Lives for.

Speaker 2 I think there's two things going on. One, I was, I grew up a PC gamer.
We always had a computer in my house.

Speaker 2 And, you know,

Speaker 2 it was a hobby that I was really into, and that my, you know, my dad was a computer guy. So it was like a thing that I had access to.
And the other thing is, PC gamer, you know, it's easy to do?

Speaker 2 Fucking pirate games. Yeah.
So a lot of games I get to play that is like, you know, like, versus if you have a console, it's a little bit, you got to jump through some more hoops.

Speaker 2 People at Sega being like, we got to get a slice of that being being able to be pirated. Yeah.

Speaker 2 That'll set us apart. You can easily pirate our games.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 Yeah, also by

Speaker 2 parody when I was talking about pirate games. Also, can I say parody?

Speaker 2 I forgot parody. Wait, I don't want to live forever.
I wish I could pull up the theme song. It's so good.

Speaker 1 Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, 248 on the list,

Speaker 1 original PlayStation.

Speaker 2 It's like as good as Snake Eater as far as like fake bond. We just don't have time.

Speaker 2 No one lives in the future. You can't be on a delay while we're on this new one.

Speaker 2 Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, I played. I did not finish Resident Evil 3.
I played it. I played unfinished.
I've only ever really played four. I've not really played another Resident Evil game before.

Speaker 1 Where the fuck is Silent Hill 2 on this fucking list?

Speaker 2 Hey, don't take it out with me. Talk to Metacritic.

Speaker 2 Another fucking Force. I'll tell you where

Speaker 2 it is. It's been replaced by Force of Motorsport 4, number 249, which I've not played.
Unplayed. Fucking bullshit.

Speaker 1 This is stupid.

Speaker 2 The car looks nice.

Speaker 1 Resident Evil, the original for PlayStation 1.

Speaker 2 Oh, I finished this. I've not played it.

Speaker 1 I think I finished it.

Speaker 1 Matt, you should play it. I own it on the PlayStation, in the disc, in the longbox.

Speaker 2 I'm pretty sure I have a

Speaker 2 handheld emulator that could do it.

Speaker 1 Yeah, but part of the fun of the game is every time you open a door, hearing your disc go,

Speaker 2 251, Crusader Kings 3. I did play this game.
I actually played this a little bit, like, quite a bit more than I expected. You can, like, fuck the Pope or something, right? You can fuck the Pope.

Speaker 2 You can eat the Pope if you play it right.

Speaker 2 Someone did it.

Speaker 2 This is, I mean, this is an incredible story generator, this game. I think it's on Game Pass.
It's really fun to mess around with.

Speaker 2 It's just like, this can just become your entire life playing this game. I've been wanting to check it out.
It seems interesting. It's super, I mean, it's super cool.
It's a really impressive design.

Speaker 2 But yeah, it's just like a grand strategy game where you just kind of like take over, manage an empire somewhere in the world, and then just sort of like you can really roleplay it to the extreme.

Speaker 2 Battlefield 2. I did not play Battlefield 2.

Speaker 1 I don't think I've played this. No.
I don't know which one it is.

Speaker 2 253.

Speaker 2 253 is the God of War collection for PS3.

Speaker 2 So this would be, I believe, all five, or, you know, it would be...

Speaker 2 Yeah, I think this would be all five of the God of War games up to this point. So God of War 1, God of War 2, God of War, Chains of Olympus, God of War, Ghost of Sparta, and God of War 3.

Speaker 2 I haven't played this collection. I guess I haven't played the collection, but I've played all of the games within the collection.

Speaker 1 I'm grumpy about the collections and the expansions on this list.

Speaker 2 This is a whole thing. And we could have gone through and called the list in advance, but it's kind of fun to complain about it as we go through.
I'm grumpy about it.

Speaker 2 Yeah, and so, like, actually, the listener, what you're experiencing is actually you're having fun. I'm having fun.
I'm having fun.

Speaker 2 I do, because I was looking at, there's, there are, there are, on the website, there were like

Speaker 2 filter options and stuff, but like, they were for like per system. So you couldn't necessarily, you couldn't filter out collections.
You couldn't filter out

Speaker 2 remasters. Grumpy.
Yeah, you could only filter out like by system. Double grumpy.
I believe God of War

Speaker 2 collection for PS3, if this IGN review from 2012 is correct, is just God of War 1 and 2. Oh, wow.
It's just PlayStation 3 ports of those.

Speaker 1 Maybe what I'm learning is not that I'm not a video gamer. Maybe it's that I have bad taste in games.

Speaker 2 Well, because I have. Oh, come on, Heather.
You were a second kid. I think, but this is one of of those things.

Speaker 2 No, I mean, this is like the failure of aggregation, right? It's going to be skewed to some degree, and then certain whatever.

Speaker 2 It's the same reason you look at like a Goodreads thing, and it's just like, oh, it's so skewed towards like Brandon Sanderson fantasy because the Brandon Sanderson fandom is super online and they're just upvoting the shit out of all of his books, even though I like Brandon Sanderson.

Speaker 2 I'm not saying anything negative about him.

Speaker 1 I read the first two of the Miss Born series.

Speaker 2 Yeah, but it is still like, it's still like, it's not necessarily.

Speaker 2 It's not the only good book. Yeah, exactly.
It's not necessarily represented.

Speaker 1 Not Mistborn, the other one.

Speaker 1 The one that's going to have 10 books. It doesn't matter.
Oh, yes. It doesn't matter.
This is Nick's. Oh, this is his thing.

Speaker 2 This is Nick's thing. This is Nick's thing.
Wait, wait, wait. We skipped over one, didn't we?

Speaker 1 No. Not a war collection.

Speaker 2 This is just one and two. I mean, I guess I'll give myself a play.
Planetscape Torment. Yeah, one of my favorite games of all time, 254.

Speaker 2 I finished this game.

Speaker 1 You know what? This whole time, I thought it was planetscape torment that's fair the way it looks you can sleep

Speaker 2 it's planescape sounds like you're trying to get off of like a boeing you're trying or you're trying to successfully complete a trip in 2025

Speaker 2 guys let me be honest i'm hanging by a thread

Speaker 2 take it easy with planescape form it's a masterpiece no it's of course it's no i i i you have talked about this game non-stop for all 300 episodes of the show we should do an episode we should do an episode of it you know what it is it's like it when playing disco Elysium.

Speaker 2 I was like, that's the game it reminds me of the most. Oh, wow.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 That's what it was inspired by.

Speaker 2 The guy on the box is scary to me.

Speaker 1 He looks like Walton Goggins. The nameless one.

Speaker 2 Yeah, he does.

Speaker 2 It's one of those weird box arts where I think they got an actor and then put him in makeup and just photographed him, but it kind of works. Yeah.
It kind of does look like the character model.

Speaker 2 But yeah, it's the nameless one. You need to learn all about him.
Wow. Yeah, this had the name.

Speaker 1 Gears of War 3.

Speaker 2 Stormlight Archive, I believe, is what you were looking for.

Speaker 1 That's it. Thank you very much.
I have read the first two books of that series.

Speaker 2 Gears of War 3, not played. No, not played.
Finished. Wow.
You guys want to get drunk?

Speaker 1 I wish. Kind of not really.
I mean, honestly, I miss it so much. Yes.
Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 No.

Speaker 2 No.

Speaker 2 If you had asked me this

Speaker 2 at this point, two hours and 15 minutes ago, I maybe would have said yes. We probably should have

Speaker 2 at episode late, or I'm sorry, like game number 80. We should have like.
We should have taken a drink every time we all had to finish the game.

Speaker 2 It'll be dead. I just watch you guys die.

Speaker 1 Killzone 2.

Speaker 2 I did not play Killzone 2.

Speaker 1 I did not either.

Speaker 2 Never Winner. Never Knights are easy.
I did play Neverwinter Nights. Neverwinter Nights is really cool.

Speaker 1 Unplayed. Do you think that we're losing subscribers not only because of how many games we haven't played, but also because it's a list?

Speaker 2 I think this episode is really bad. I think this is like unlistenable.
So yeah,

Speaker 2 I think so. I think, are we losing any gamer cred?

Speaker 2 I don't know because the thing is like, yeah, if you look at like, hey, here's a huge list of games, there are going to be like big chunks that you're not going to play because it's not like

Speaker 2 it's an enormous time commitment. Like even watching the longest movie, 1900, a Bernardo Berlucci movie has been screening at the Vista

Speaker 2 recently. That game is, or that movie is five and a half hours long.
That would be a short game. Yeah.
But like, that's like a famously one of the longest movies ever released theatrically.

Speaker 2 And so like, we're looking at something like Neverwinter Nights, you can put hundreds of hours into. So, like,

Speaker 2 an individual not having played Neverwinter Nights, I don't think speaks to them not being a gamer.

Speaker 2 It's what it's like, whatever.

Speaker 1 Sonic CD isn't on this list. Sylphied for Sonic for Sega CD isn't on this list.
Jurassic Park for Sega CD isn't on this list. I've played all those games.

Speaker 2 I mean, there's 43 more. They might be on.

Speaker 1 Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 Can you imagine? They're all Sega CD games.

Speaker 2 But I think the thing, if people are going to be frustrated by anything,

Speaker 1 it'll be this episode.

Speaker 2 It might be the episode. No, I think it might be just listening to what this list is and being like, wow, Metacritic did not do a good job of authoritatively curating a list of the top 300 games ever.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Because it's just like some of these things are like, there's no way that this sports game that came out 20 years ago holds up relative to these other all-time classics.

Speaker 2 And that's important to think about when you're listening to the episode and you're mad. It's actually, we didn't do anything wrong.
It's Metacritic's fault.

Speaker 1 Making the list not good Has Mario 64 been on this list Heather Mario 64 hasn't been on this list, but fucking Mario Sunshine was Mario 64 isn't on this list, but Forza Motorsport 3 ace spec or whatever the fuck it was called.

Speaker 2 Yeah, boo

Speaker 2 I would like to see the

Speaker 2 I would like to see like a because again the way of a 2002 game here, which we'll talk about, but like like a

Speaker 2 graph of the release year, because I bet there's just like a a huge bump between, again, like 1999, like 2000, maybe even earlier than 2006, like 2003 for whatever reason.

Speaker 1 No One Lives Forever 2, a spy in H A R M's Way.

Speaker 2 Yes, that was the criminal organization. Obviously, Harm is the.
That's really cool. Yeah, it's cute.
But I did not actually play part two, even though I like part one. I haven't played it.
Yeah. Hey!

Speaker 2 Castlevania Ario Saro. Oh, I play Ariosaro.

Speaker 1 Fuck, I love this game.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's really cool.

Speaker 1 I played this game. I played it.

Speaker 2 I still own this game and the little box man all those metroidias were so fun for the art for specifically the castle voy castlevania metroidas great man they were great these game boy advanced castlevanias the castlevania metroid vanias are beautiful boys

Speaker 2 look at how beautiful that boy is we had to stop the episode he is a sexy boy he didn't make it all the way to 300 259 is a good place to call it i do i do think for the listener yeah there's stuff to enjoy in the episode I think there's fun stuff.

Speaker 2 I know that it's like maybe an arduous listen.

Speaker 2 I think the thing that people actually will not like is us saying that they're having a hard time listening to it.

Speaker 2 I think they'll be enjoying themselves.

Speaker 1 What if I made this sound for the rest of it, though?

Speaker 1 Legacy of Kane, Soul Reaver for the original PlayStation.

Speaker 2 This is a cool game. This was, you know, so the original Legacy of Kane, this is another one like Jedi Knight that kind of went through a couple of different iterations.

Speaker 2 So the first Legacy of Kane, Blood Omen, was actually, I guess it was was called Blood Omen, Legacy of Kane, was

Speaker 2 more of

Speaker 2 a 2D Zelda-like. It was more of like a 2D or like a top-down sort of isometric sort of game.
And then they made it, the sequel is 3D. And then the franchise kind of went in the Soul Reaver direction.

Speaker 2 So then it was Legacy of Kane, Soul Reaver, and then they made Soul Reaver 2. But we've talked about this game because the director, Amy Hennig, previously,

Speaker 2 before directing this game, directed the infamous game Michael Jordan, Chaos in the Windy City, which is just one of those awesome, like, career arc things where you go from directing a game that's just like an insane tie-in game that makes no sense to making Legacy of Cain's Soul Reaver, really well-regarded game, really cool game, and then worked at Naughty Dog for many years, has a ton of great credits.

Speaker 2 Yeah, she worked on the first few Uncharted. Yes, yes.

Speaker 1 Can I ask if Reaver is a real word?

Speaker 2 I think Reaver is a real word. To reveal.
To reave. Yeah, you can reave.

Speaker 1 What does it mean to reeve?

Speaker 2 All right, I'm hitting up Merriam-Webster. To rob or despoil.
Oh. To deprive one of, to seize.

Speaker 1 I got to start reeving.

Speaker 2 Yeah. The listeners are reaving.

Speaker 1 Like,

Speaker 1 maybe I should go into a store and be like, is it illegal to reeve in here?

Speaker 2 Mind if I reeve real quick?

Speaker 1 Yeah, can I reeve this shirt?

Speaker 2 I just got to reeve. The reavers are our bad guy faction and Firefly.
Oh. Golden Sun.
Golden Sun.

Speaker 2 This is a really cool jrpg that i played and i really enjoyed and i did not finish it but i really liked it i've been itching to play this because i've never played it but i was always curious about it when when i was a kid yeah i i uh i played but did not finish golden sun what a joy what a little pleasure

Speaker 2 discover 262 is disco i thought it was higher that's really interesting i thought it was like number fucking one this is fucking wasn't it no i definitely it was was never number one but i i feel like it was at some point i feel like it was more in like the top 25 anyway

Speaker 2 i think what you're thinking of, there's a list. There was like a Rolling Stone, like best games of all time list, and it may have been number one.

Speaker 1 I feel totally fucking insane. I thought Disco was literally the highest rated game of all time.
Not, not,

Speaker 1 not on like some thing that was like our top 100 games of all time.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I mean, maybe you're right, but I, uh, it's

Speaker 2 unless you maybe are mistaken and you think that 262 is the top.

Speaker 1 Maybe it's Disco Elysium Final Cut cut or something. Like, was maybe.

Speaker 2 I don't know. Cause.

Speaker 2 No, we didn't. This is the first time encountering Disco Elysium.
And this is not the final cut. This is vanilla Disco Elysium, which is not a pejorative vanilla as a flavor.
But I. That's the second.

Speaker 2 So we've been going for two hours and 23 minutes. You've said that twice.
We got to end that episode.

Speaker 2 Finish this game. Finish this game.
Finish it multiple times. Finished.
Great game.

Speaker 1 I think it might be my favorite game of all time. I certainly listed it as such when we did our favorite games of all time.
Maybe that's what you're thinking about. By the way,

Speaker 1 I made a mistake and Death Stranding should have been on that fucking list.

Speaker 2 Oh my God.

Speaker 1 I would like to revise my list because I went back and played Death Stranding recently.

Speaker 2 So fucking good, man.

Speaker 2 It's so fucking good. I think we should do the list again.
It would be a much shorter episode than this one. Yeah.

Speaker 2 But it would also be a similarly sort of fun discussion. Yeah, we could do it again.

Speaker 1 Yeah. Our top games of all time? Yeah.

Speaker 2 We did that on the podcast. For people who haven't heard the episode, we did that, what, two years ago at this point? I think so, yeah.

Speaker 2 And we listed our top games of all time, each of our personal top tens. And yeah, that's the thing we should revisit because I think those are living documents.

Speaker 2 All right, next up, winning soccer, World Soccer Winning 11-8. This is one that came out in 2005.
I've not played this game. Nope.

Speaker 1 Nope.

Speaker 2 Legend. Oh, this game's awesome.
The Legend of Zelda Link Between Worlds. This game's really cool.
I've played this.

Speaker 1 I have not played Link Between Worlds.

Speaker 2 I played this. This is a 3DS one.
I did not finish this game, but I really like the gimmick of it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Wow, Near

Speaker 2 Near Automata,

Speaker 2 one that is a big blind spot for me. I've not played the Nears.
I've not played this one. I've played it.

Speaker 1 It is on my backlog or back order.

Speaker 1 It's installed and I haven't played it.

Speaker 2 I've had my friends copy of it for years.

Speaker 1 I've played like maybe the first two levels of this game and I was like, this game fucking rules. And then I didn't ever finish it or play it again.

Speaker 2 I've been looking through screenshots.

Speaker 1 Oh my god, Castlevania's Circle of the Moon for Game Boy Advance.

Speaker 2 Really cool game. I did finish this game and I really liked it.
Not played. What were you looking at screenshots of? I've been looking screenshots of The Longest Journey.

Speaker 2 This is a point-and-click adventure game that was on the list like 100 entries ago. I've just been remembering it and then not really understanding why I didn't.
Hold up, guys.

Speaker 1 Love it. Caves of Quad.

Speaker 2 Caves of Quad. Okay, so this is a 91 based on seven critic reviews.
I'm not familiar with this game. I've not heard of this.

Speaker 1 This came out just in December of last year. Very recently, Caves of Quad.

Speaker 1 32 user ratings, seven critic reviews. It is the number 267th

Speaker 1 best-rated game of all time above Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Mother 3, Sonic, Sonic 2, Super Mario 3, Original Mario Bros., Duck Hunt.

Speaker 2 Well, I mean, look, this is an indie game. This game does look cool.
It is a, you know,

Speaker 2 I don't know if it would be for me. Maybe it would be.
It is a very lo-fi aesthetic. We sort of see it has these tile-based graphics.

Speaker 1 Oh, wait, that game looks fucking awesome.

Speaker 2 It does look good.

Speaker 1 I take it back.

Speaker 2 It is a roguelike that is, you know, it seems like a passion project and it does seem like it's very dwarf fortress adjacent.

Speaker 1 It looks like a VGA game, like an old, like

Speaker 1 IBM original game.

Speaker 2 This game probably rips.

Speaker 2 It seems like it had a Steam release just in December of 2024.

Speaker 2 So it is a pretty recent game. So, you know,

Speaker 2 I can't speak to its quality, but it's awesome.

Speaker 1 We only have 33 games left to talk about.

Speaker 2 We're going to do this.

Speaker 1 I think we are, too. Resident Evil 2 for the PlayStation 4.

Speaker 2 Okay, so this is specifically the remake. I did not play the remake.
And everyone says this is awesome, and I need to play it. We have not played the recent remake.
I have not played this.

Speaker 1 I have not played this. Yeah.

Speaker 2 I've played this. Wow.
Wow. This is the only one on this list that that's true for.

Speaker 2 It finally happened. This is unprecedented.
I've never seen this in all my years in the booth and inside the park home run. Wow.

Speaker 2 This old-ass guy has never seen that before. It's a pretty rare occurrence in baseball, isn't it? I guess so.

Speaker 1 Satisfactory for the PlayStation.

Speaker 1 My boss, Dan Harmon, talks a lot about this game. He really, really loves it.

Speaker 1 I have not played it.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I played Factorio, which is the other one, like kind of competing

Speaker 2 game for Satisfactory. I think Satisfactory is a little bit more robust and also is, I think, a 3D look to it, but I have not played it.
I've not played this.

Speaker 1 Dark Souls 2. Dark Souls 2.
Let's fucking go.

Speaker 2 I got to be honest. This is the Dark Souls I've never played.

Speaker 2 And I didn't play it because everyone was like, it's not as good as it's like, not as good as one. And then everyone's three is like, Dark Souls is back.

Speaker 2 Miyazaki's not on two, right? I think that's

Speaker 2 the main thing that people say. Yeah, Hidataka Miyazaki was not much involved in Dark Souls 2, I believe, because he was making Bloodborne.

Speaker 1 Dark Souls 1, not on the list. Dark Souls 3, not on the list.
Dark Souls 2, on the list. I haven't finished this game.

Speaker 2 Not played it.

Speaker 1 Shovel Knight.

Speaker 2 Treasure Trove.

Speaker 2 Okay. I have not finished the Shovel Knights.
There is a ton of content in Treasure Trove. Like, that is one.

Speaker 2 I think they just released so many different expansions because of how this one was crowdfunded. But I have played Shovel Knight, and it's cool.
Yeah. I've played it.

Speaker 1 I've played it. It's fine.
It's not for me, but I like it.

Speaker 2 Mario Golf. Yeah, I played Mario Golf for Nintendo 64.

Speaker 1 How is Mario Golf for the N64 on the list, but Super Mario 64 isn't on the list?

Speaker 2 The aggregate, you know, that. 1999 versus 1996.
I mean, that's just, I think it's just when it came out.

Speaker 1 But 96 games are on this list.

Speaker 2 Not a lot of them.

Speaker 1 But Mario 64?

Speaker 2 Like one of the highest rated games of all of them. Let me see

Speaker 2 where Metacritic has Mario 64. Let me look at it.

Speaker 1 I'm so fucking grumpy about it, but like Mario 64, which I know Matt hates, but.

Speaker 2 I don't hate it.

Speaker 1 I don't like it very much. It's crazy that the for like the game that defined 3D movement is not on the list.

Speaker 2 Here's the thing. I'm looking up.

Speaker 2 Super Mario 64 is, I don't even think, on Metacritic. Oh.
I don't think there's enough reviews for it to qualify for its algorithm. Because it needs seven reviews at least to be in the algorithm.

Speaker 2 Yeah, so I don't think there were enough online publications giving it a review that fed into their system. The only Super Mario 64 that is on here is the Nintendo DS re-release, which only got an 85.

Speaker 2 I did play that.

Speaker 1 All right, Mario Golf, I did play.

Speaker 1 Did not finish.

Speaker 2 I think I finished the DS, Mario 64, actually.

Speaker 2 Yeah, not played Mario Golf.

Speaker 2 Mario Kart DS. Mario Kart DS played.
I spent a lot of time with Mario Kart DS. I love it.

Speaker 1 I don't know if I played this one.

Speaker 2 That was cool. Just that you could have Mario Kart on the go is incredible.

Speaker 1 Isn't Mario Kart always on the go?

Speaker 2 That was really good. This is the type of stuff I'm talking about.
People listening to the episode are enjoying themselves.

Speaker 2 There's good stuff in that episode. Wait a minute.

Speaker 1 My brain is rotting

Speaker 2 as we're in here.

Speaker 2 It's taking 300 episodes, but it's finally happened.

Speaker 1 This is what's happening, is there's so much carbon dioxide in this room now that I have finally become you guys.

Speaker 2 Here, breathe into that fake tree behind you.

Speaker 1 It's also like 95 degrees in here.

Speaker 2 It did get really hot in here. Yeah.
Well, you know, of course, we're spitting that hot fire, of course.

Speaker 1 Crash Bandicoot Warped.

Speaker 2 Good answer.

Speaker 1 Which is the racing bandicoot?

Speaker 2 No, this is, no, this is the third

Speaker 2 Crash Bandicoot.

Speaker 2 This is just part three, right? This is part three. Because there's Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and then Crash Bandicoot Warped.

Speaker 1 Can you look up Silent Hill 2 and tell me why Crash Bandicoot Warped is on the list and Silent Hill 2?

Speaker 2 It's probably just not even listed. It might be next.
It could be next. It could be next.

Speaker 1 It could be next. It could be after Crash Bandicoot Warped.

Speaker 2 Crash Bandicoot Warped is really good. I'm looking at its score right now, and I don't think it's going to make the top 300.

Speaker 2 It actually did get enough reviews, a quorum of reviews, and met the threshold on.

Speaker 2 What is the score? I don't know if I should say it because it might be on here, but I think it might be just outside.

Speaker 1 Let's just see what happens.

Speaker 1 Up next is Call of Duty.

Speaker 2 Wait, hold on.

Speaker 2 Do we we do it? I played Crash Bandicoot Warped. Okay, you played it.
Yeah, I finished it.

Speaker 1 Yeah. I have unplayed this game.
Call of Duty, the original.

Speaker 2 I played Call of Duty. I did.

Speaker 1 I played it, and I think I finished it.

Speaker 2 I did not finish the single-player campaign, but I played a good chunk of it. I don't think I've ever really played a Call of Duty.

Speaker 1 The old ones where you were just like walking around shooting Nazis in the head was awesome.

Speaker 2 Yeah, that's how it originally started. I mean, there's a really cool level in the first Call of Duty.
Pastime that never gets old.

Speaker 2 It was like a Stalingrad level where you're, because you play play as different, you know, members of different armies.

Speaker 2 And I think it was Stalingrad, and you started as a character without a weapon because it was just talking about how the Soviet army just had, did not have enough

Speaker 2 supplies. Yeah.
So you had to wait till someone was dead and pick up their firearm. It's cool, cool to say.
That sounds cool. Yeah.
All right. 276 Assassin's Creed 2.

Speaker 2 I never played Assassin's Creed 2. I haven't played it.
I don't know which one it is.

Speaker 2 I think it's between one and three.

Speaker 1 Is this.

Speaker 1 I played the early game?

Speaker 2 I think this is the one where you can fight the Pope.

Speaker 1 I mean, honestly, I did not do that ever.

Speaker 2 Can you eat him? Yeah, I think that's where this game fails. You cannot fucker eat the Pope in this game.

Speaker 1 Is this the one where? Oh, is this the one with the Medici? Because if so, I have played this game.

Speaker 2 I don't know.

Speaker 1 If not.

Speaker 2 Hold on, let me look it up. Yeah, type in Assassin's Creed 2 Medici.
Hold on.

Speaker 2 Don't.

Speaker 1 Don't get. Don't get like that with me.

Speaker 1 Otherwise, it's going to be the 300th and final episode of the show.

Speaker 2 Then Heather ends up on the news.

Speaker 2 For quitting? No, for killing us.

Speaker 2 I mean, there's the House of Medici, but I don't know if this is Assassin's Creed too specific. I'm looking at the wiki.
I'll give it to you. I think you probably do play this game, Heather.
Probably.

Speaker 2 A Balatro. Ablatro.

Speaker 2 I'd say finish this game.

Speaker 2 I can't say that I finished it, but

Speaker 2 I've played it. I've played it.
I've played it today. Do you mean finish in terms of getting every achievement? Because if that's your threshold, then I would say that I have not finished it.

Speaker 2 No, then I guess I could say I've finished it because I've finished runs before. I don't know.
I've played it. I love it.
I played it on my phone. I was playing it on my phone today.

Speaker 2 Animal Well, Animal Well.

Speaker 2 Loved Animal Well. Did I get around to finishing it? No, I did not, but I absolutely love that game.

Speaker 1 Played, loved, did not finish. Finished.

Speaker 2 Finished, finished. Although the truth is, I liked it.

Speaker 1 I was not as warm to Animal Well as you guys were.

Speaker 2 I loved it.

Speaker 2 Project Gotham Racing 2, I have never played.

Speaker 1 Jesus Christ, I have not.

Speaker 2 279.

Speaker 1 I have not played Project Gotham, Gotham Racing 2.

Speaker 2 Me neither.

Speaker 2 We're going to make it to the finish line. They're crossing New Horizons.

Speaker 1 New Horizons.

Speaker 2 I'm going to give myself a finish for this one because I did roll credits on it. Me too.

Speaker 1 Same. I rolled credits on this game, the lifesaver of the pandemic.
Wow.

Speaker 2 It's a grand slam. I played it.

Speaker 2 It's out of the park.

Speaker 2 281, Final Fantasy 14, Shadowbringers. I've not played Final First 14.
No, Final Fantasy 14. No.

Speaker 1 I did play this game. I don't know if I played this expansion.

Speaker 1 Happy to rep Final Fantasy online games.

Speaker 2 2019, would you have been playing it?

Speaker 1 Because if you weren't playing it, no, again, I have not played this expansion.

Speaker 2 Oh, okay, okay. World of Warcraft.
Catalyst. Yeah, I mentioned earlier.
I checked out by the time Cataclysm came out. Another expansion for the World of Warcraft game.
I haven't played it. Nope.

Speaker 2 Bayonetta! I haven't played it, but I'm curious now. Finished.

Speaker 1 Finished Bayonetta.

Speaker 2 Heather, that's really cool. I fucking...
How much do you think you'd be losing any credit when you're with Gamer Cred when you're talking about finishing Bayonetta here. Very hardcore game.

Speaker 1 It's fucking fun as shit. It's so good.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I bet I'd love it.

Speaker 1 You would, Nick,

Speaker 1 we would never see you again.

Speaker 1 Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition.

Speaker 2 Yes, I actually had this specific edition.

Speaker 2 I mean, I bought Diablo 3 when it came out, a vanilla Diablo 3, which, you know, not a pejorative

Speaker 2 vanilla flavor. Wow, you went for the fucking turkey.
Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition, but I did buy this version for console because of the novelty. It's on console, and I finished this game.

Speaker 2 I played this on Switch, and I fucking loved it.

Speaker 2 Diablo 3 is really good. When they finally figured everything out, when they did that big,

Speaker 2 you know, rebalance in midstream,

Speaker 2 it's really fucking fun. One of the great beams.

Speaker 1 This was unplayed for me.

Speaker 2 Eco finished this game. Fuck.
This game's so fucked up. Not played it.
Let's go.

Speaker 1 Great end.

Speaker 2 That is the worst box art, though.

Speaker 2 the box art fucking sucks this is one of those ones where you look this has legendarily bad box art in north america and then if you look at the japanese box art is it is pristine it is so beautiful this game uh has such bad box art that this is the only game in my playstation 2 library where i personally

Speaker 1 replaced the box art by getting the same quality paper and printing like a fan version of the box art yeah that replaces it with the Japanese box art, which is so good.

Speaker 2 Here's a two-up of the Japanese box art and the American box art. Yeah, the Japanese one is so much cooler.

Speaker 1 The Japanese one looks like a classical painting.

Speaker 2 Yes, it's gorgeous. And it's like a little bit more abstract.
And they're like, no, we want to have a little fucking troll kid.

Speaker 1 What if we have the troll kid, a woman's face, and the Netherlands all on the same box?

Speaker 2 One of these evil windmills I keep hearing about. And it worked out.
Games sold like shit.

Speaker 1 Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

Speaker 2 No, no, I did not play this one. Unplayed.
Big Tom Clancy guy.

Speaker 2 Unplayed. I like his politics.
World of Goo. World of Goo.
This is a game I bought and messed around with. I'll give myself a play because I put some time into World of Goo, but I was sort of like,

Speaker 2 I expected to like this more.

Speaker 1 Fuck, I think I reviewed this game for

Speaker 1 Play Magazine.

Speaker 2 You're probably one of the...

Speaker 2 You're one of the 26 critic reviews, perhaps.

Speaker 1 I don't. I might be.
Honestly, I don't know.

Speaker 2 That would be fucking wild. I have not played this, but a World of Goo sounds like an absolute nightmare to me.
Really? I think you'd be a goo guy. Well,

Speaker 2 I don't want everything to be goo. Well, it's not everything's goo, but you can like kind of build shit with goo.
Oh, okay. It's cool.
I like that. You know what?

Speaker 2 I'm moving to the world of goo.

Speaker 1 Mario and Luigi, superstar saga for the Game Boy Advance.

Speaker 2 Yes, I played this game.

Speaker 2 I did not like the Mario and Luigi games as much as the Paper Mario games, so I did not have the momentum to finish this, but I did think it was a lot of fun. I have not played it.

Speaker 1 Unplayed. You know,

Speaker 1 I can guarantee if Play Magazine was aggregated by Metacritic, that I am one of the Final Fantasy XII reviews, because

Speaker 1 that was my longest review ever in the magazine.

Speaker 2 Wow. Yeah.
I like to hunt that down and read it. I have it in print.
Wow. Bring it in.

Speaker 2 Should I? Let me know. Why not? Yeah.
Slay the Princess. This is a.

Speaker 1 Isn't this on the list?

Speaker 2 No,

Speaker 2 another another edition, like the Ultimate Edition, was on there.

Speaker 2 Slay the Princess was higher, but I've not played this. Unplayed.
Me neither. Bass version of Slay the Princess, let's call it.

Speaker 2 Yikes.

Speaker 1 Siphon Filter for the PlayStation 1.

Speaker 2 Yes, I did play Siphon Filter. I've not played this.

Speaker 1 I have not played Siphon Filter.

Speaker 2 Siphon Filter was just fine. I've still played it.
I mean, it probably has not aged well. Nick thinking he's all slick, same bass over there.
We know what he wanted to say.

Speaker 1 When we know what he wanted to say, yeah.

Speaker 1 What did he want to say? Because I thought he said it.

Speaker 2 He said it three times before.

Speaker 2 He wasn't trying to go back for a fourth. There's Slay the Spider, and then there was another Slay the Spider.

Speaker 1 I thought he was saying base. Like, I, okay.
So

Speaker 1 he was trying to say vanilla again. Yeah.
I thought he was making

Speaker 1 a reference to how horny he was for the

Speaker 1 princess.

Speaker 2 For the Slay the Princess?

Speaker 1 Come on. So he was like base as in my base instincts.

Speaker 2 Oh, no.

Speaker 2 I didn't think that.

Speaker 2 I don't. I think, look, I think what we're all experiencing is 300 madness.

Speaker 1 We're dining in hell. I am in hell.

Speaker 2 I guess the slave of the princess. Okay, now he's convincing himself to be horny for it.

Speaker 2 We don't need to be doing this.

Speaker 2 You don't have to. It's okay.

Speaker 2 Okay, well, I guess I'll be horny there. I think, look, this game is really well reviewed.

Speaker 1 Holy shit, that's one of the hardest times you've given me laugh on this show.

Speaker 2 This game is really well reviewed by critics.

Speaker 2 The fandom really digs it. Branch is fucking sloughed over over here, ruining her life.
He's convincing himself,

Speaker 2 yeah. You asked for it.
Oh, shit.

Speaker 2 I think

Speaker 2 intend to play this game at some point.

Speaker 1 Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 What if we had to make a promise to play all the games we haven't played on the list?

Speaker 2 I would quit the show. This is the thing.
There's not enough years left in our lives for us all to collectively play the game.

Speaker 2 That's just how

Speaker 2 sprawling this is.

Speaker 2 I want to be transparent with the listener.

Speaker 1 We're supposed to do a double record tonight.

Speaker 2 It's not fucking happening. It's not happening.
I'm going home after this. Slay the princess, the pristine cut, which is what the full version of it is.

Speaker 2 Ranch is laying down

Speaker 2 because she's so upset. Ranch is sad that we're not doing the second one.

Speaker 2 Has made one of the best Choices Matter games of all time even better. I mean, this sounds extremely like Master Smash.
I can't believe we're.

Speaker 2 What is he talking? He's still talking about the master. Slay the princess.

Speaker 2 This is Voxel Smash, an existentially horrific visual novel with an incredibly well-written plot, a beautiful score, and graphics that will enrapture all senses. Existentially horrific.

Speaker 2 Sounds awesome.

Speaker 1 Like, like, Ranch is like pulling on her hair because we're at 291 and Nick has gone. He's like, stopped at the toll booth.

Speaker 2 There's two things.

Speaker 1 He's having a conversation with the guy in the box.

Speaker 2 We're going to hit the three-hour mark for the show. I think maybe for the first time.
Maybe we did it. No, we did it for Baldur's Gate also.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 I don't think we're going to. We're at 291.
I think we're going to get past it. Yeah.
Well, I have a long segment. Oh, we have a long segment.

Speaker 2 It's not long. It's not long.
Ape Escape. I finished Ape Escape for PlayStation 1.
Awesome game. Played it and I think deserves a reboot.
Ape Escape, good.

Speaker 2 I loved the Ape Escape content that Castro bought. How fun was that? I love it.
How cool is that? I love a monkey with a siren on his head. How cool is that? You're laughing.
I'm laughing.

Speaker 2 Smaking their little ass. Everyone's laughing.
I'm over fucking spamming.

Speaker 2 Ape Escape. Ape Escape was really cool.
Tony Hawks Underground.

Speaker 1 They love the Tony Hawk games, and so does Matt.

Speaker 2 I love it. We love Tony Hawk Underground.
I'll give myself a plate on this one. Although I never owned Underground, I put

Speaker 2 a decent amount of time on this game.

Speaker 2 I thought it was going to be cooler than,

Speaker 2 I didn't really, didn't really get its hooks in me. I was 12 years old when this game came out, so it was the easily the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Speaker 2 And I think I played it and finished it on every difficulty. It's an incredible game.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game, but I do want to shout out: this is the first box that we've seen the original PS2 online logo, which fucking slaps. It is absolute Y2K aesthetic.

Speaker 2 Really cool though. like

Speaker 1 three metallic spheres it's so fucking good love those spheres oh broadband and dialogue look at that font

Speaker 2 all right all right 293 mario and luigi bowser's inside story another mario and luigi game that i played and gave up on i i mean i i liked it okay i fucking unplayed this game yeah not played it The thing is, like, I was just comparing them in my head the whole time to the paper bario games.

Speaker 2 And I just like the writing in there.

Speaker 2 Before we read the title of this next one, trials evolution this is a this is like a motocross game right I just feel like when I read a title like this and I see the box card for this I live in a different world well it's just like this is one of those very very generic sounding titles trials evolution shows a bunch of what looks to be dirt bikers on the front cover yeah I think it is an Xbox 360 arcade game so it didn't have maybe a physical release yes I have I also think it's probably the not the first trials because evolution sounds like a sequel subject.

Speaker 1 So you think there was a game called Trials?

Speaker 2 I think there wasn't a game. I'm pretty sure there was a Trials.
Wow. Right?

Speaker 1 My hair's falling out.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's in the Trials series.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game.

Speaker 1 Up next is an expansion pack. Frustrating.

Speaker 2 I'm fucking frustrated by it.

Speaker 2 Anyway, I did not play that trial.

Speaker 1 Grand Theft Auto 4, the lost and damned expansion pack. Released in 2009.
I have not played this.

Speaker 2 I don't remember this. I have not played this either.
It looks cool. I love Grand Theft Auto.

Speaker 1 I'm fucking grumpy about these expansions.

Speaker 2 FIFA Soccer 12, no. That's a universal no for across the board.
Yeah, it's a I did not play this Grand Theft Auto expansion. Up next is Factorio.

Speaker 2 I mentioned this earlier. I have played Factorio.
I put a number of hours into Factorio.

Speaker 2 It is very, a very compelling design that I ultimately had to walk away from because it is also a kind of game that can really dick me. But look at its release date, August 14th, 2020.

Speaker 2 This game, I believe, was in early access before then. I definitely was playing this game, playing the shit out of this game, Deep Pandemic.
Wow. Yeah, never played it.
It's cool. Black?

Speaker 2 Black and white. Black and white.
This was a Peter Molyneux game.

Speaker 2 This was a

Speaker 2 what the hell was that developer called? Why can't I remember it? Oh, Lion Head Studios. Yes, this was his developer,

Speaker 2 his new developer that he founded.

Speaker 2 This game, I didn't actually play myself, but I remember this. I remember the PC gaming fandom receiving it fondly.

Speaker 2 This was one where it's just kind of like you could kind of choose your morality, and

Speaker 2 it kind of had a like the creatures within the game would evolve according to that, the world that you would build if memory serves.

Speaker 1 299 is Ratchet and Clank Going Commando for the PlayStation 2 released in 2003.

Speaker 1 I have not played this game.

Speaker 2 I love this game. I've played it.
Bullfrog. That was, sorry, that was that was I was trying to pull Peter Molyneux's studio before a lion head.
It was Bullfrog. I'm sorry, finished what you're saying?

Speaker 2 I finished this game and I love this game. I love, I mean, I love all the ratcheting clank games.
They're all good. Yeah, this one's awesome.
I finished this one. Yeah.

Speaker 1 Finally.

Speaker 2 FIFA Soccer 10. That's fucking so good.
Number 300. That's

Speaker 2 - FIFA Soccer 10. I never played FIFA Soccer 10.
I've never played it. I can't believe that it's not a more exciting game to be number 300.

Speaker 2 It's fucking FIFA Soccer 10, which is probably somebody's favorite game.

Speaker 2 This sucks.

Speaker 1 I have not played FIFA Soccer 10.

Speaker 2 So we mentioned it earlier that it might show up when we asked about Silent Hill 2.

Speaker 2 There were enough reviews of Silent Hill 2 on Metacritic, but unfortunately it was just under the threshold because it only got an 89.

Speaker 2 I'm fucking furious.

Speaker 1 I'm furious.

Speaker 2 But I mean, like, also, these are the reviews that come out. This is what's interesting because so often this is like...

Speaker 2 This is like an aggregation of a bunch of snapshots and time, right? Yes. And it's like, this was the moment when

Speaker 2 Silent Hill 2 came out, a lot of people didn't really know what to do with it. It was a fucking weird game that over time people came around on and were like, oh, this game's really good.

Speaker 2 And I think that's the kind of thing, like, if you looked at the, if you look at like the IMDb list, it will have like a random MCU movie,

Speaker 2 you know, really high just above like an Akira Kurosawa movie.

Speaker 2 And it won't really make any sense if you're actually trying to think of these in terms of ratings and like of relative artistic merit, but in terms of like where the enthusiasm was when this individual thing released,

Speaker 2 it makes a little bit more sense. And that's kind of the utility of it.
But yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 This was an interesting exercise. Was it worth our time? No.
Was it worth yours, a listener? Absolutely not.

Speaker 2 I had to look it up.

Speaker 1 I had to look up whether or not I was one of the reviews for Final Fantasy XII. And sure enough, the third review down is Heather Ann Campbell from Play Magazine.
Wow.

Speaker 1 The scale of Final Fantasy 12 is so grand, so overwhelming, overwhelming, so vast that comparisons to other video games, a proper review, in other words, borders on the impossible.

Speaker 2 Wow. Wow.

Speaker 1 I fucking loved this game. Oh, my God.
I loved it.

Speaker 2 Wow. 300 games for 300 episodes.
We did it. We did it.
I think we had a pretty good hit rate. Yeah, I think so, too.

Speaker 2 I think you played a vast majority of the games more than we did, but I wouldn't say that. This also is not a contest.

Speaker 1 Nick's top 300 and then Tony Hawk games.

Speaker 2 I have the final tally. Oh, my God.
Wow. Wait, how how many total of the games have we all played? Or do you have that or did you do it individually?

Speaker 1 Oh, I did it individually.

Speaker 2 Oh, okay, okay. Each person played.
So Matt has 137 games played. Wow.
Heather, 151.

Speaker 2 And Nick, 216. That's too many.
Wow. That's too many.

Speaker 1 It is Nick's list.

Speaker 2 But this would not be my list. A lot of these games, I'm like...
You love Tifa Soccer 10.

Speaker 1 I'm so happy that I have more than half just by one.

Speaker 2 Hey, that's pretty damn good. That's pretty good.
I'm surprised I had as many as I did, to be honest. Rancho, what was your total? 12.
Hey! That's pretty good.

Speaker 2 Can I read this real quick? Yeah. This is Game Informer's review of Silent Hill 2 in 2001.

Speaker 2 They gave it a 70, 7 out of 10.

Speaker 2 Instead of the brain-bending adventure with Scares and Gore that I had so desperately hoped for, it turned out to be a sloppy, monotonous bore that nearly put me to sleep.

Speaker 2 That fucking, that's so stupid. I thought about replaying the remake.
Like, I've been thinking about playing it again.

Speaker 2 I love it. I bet that whoever that reviewer is now is like, is either like completely totally self-righteous about, yeah, I was right the whole time.
The game sucks. Or they look back on it.

Speaker 2 They're like, oh, yeah, I love that game. That game was one of my favorites.

Speaker 2 They've completely memory-holed the fact that they thought it was boring at the time of its release because a lot of people were just expecting something different.

Speaker 2 They were expecting more of an action experience. Yes.

Speaker 2 So here's my segment. I'm bringing back a get-played classic, the beastiery, in which

Speaker 2 I'm going to name some video game monsters. Okay.
And you're going to tell me if they are real or fake. All three of you can play this game.
And I've added a little special matte twist to this game.

Speaker 2 Oh, no. He's going to say them backwards.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 How did it get so hot in here? What happened?

Speaker 2 I think we're all just coming in really hot. Okay.

Speaker 1 My body is shutting down.

Speaker 2 The twist is it's Pokemon Edition. I'm going to name a Pokemon.
You're going to tell me it's real or fake. Wow.
Oh, I love this.

Speaker 2 Ranch opened the door.

Speaker 1 Ranch opened the door.

Speaker 2 Ranch is leaving.

Speaker 2 Okay, here we go. This first one.
Is this real or is this fake? Sandy ghast.

Speaker 2 Sounds real to me.

Speaker 2 I'll say real.

Speaker 1 Sandegast. Sandegast.

Speaker 2 Real. Got two reels.
Fake. Ranch is going to say fake.

Speaker 2 It is real. It is a ghost sandcastle.
Wow. That's cool.
It is cool. The concept of a ghost sandcastle.
I love it. Yes.

Speaker 2 My brain hurts. So, Nick and Heather on the board with Juan.
Sorry, Ranch. Why do we do this concept?

Speaker 2 If I say an idea, we don't have to do it just because I said it in the group chat. You were just like, you can say, like I said, like, hey, how about we do this? I was like, I don't know.

Speaker 2 I was just pitching something. I feel like as a group.
We don't have to lock into it just because I said it.

Speaker 2 This is on you as much as it's on me is what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 Here's what I think is that I think the only way you get to to learn a lesson is if we say yes to your ideas.

Speaker 2 Yeah, yeah. It's sort of, it's sort of

Speaker 2 instead of making you,

Speaker 2 it's like instead of giving you your first cigarette, it's giving you the entire pack for thinking about smoking.

Speaker 2 Okay.

Speaker 2 Next one. Clef key.
Clef key. Clef key?

Speaker 2 I feel like that's an Apodaka original. I'm going to say fake.
Fake.

Speaker 2 Real.

Speaker 2 It is real. Wow.
Wow. It is a set of keys.
Oh, fuck.

Speaker 2 Fuck. Fuck, that sounds good.
That sounds really cool.

Speaker 1 I know the design of that guy. I didn't know his name.

Speaker 2 It is a big key chain. I know.
I want to. If you read a spelling, I just want to look it up.
K-L-E-F-K-I.

Speaker 1 He's the same generation as ice cream and garbage.

Speaker 2 K-L-E-F.

Speaker 1 The best generation, black and white.

Speaker 2 Really good.

Speaker 1 I didn't know his name. Oh, Klefki, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 Klefke. This is where I see.
This is the kind of thing where the place where, oh my god, this guy is so cute. He fucking rules.
Really, really cute. He's really cool.

Speaker 2 Adorable set of keys. This is where I lose cred because I just really don't know the Pokemon franchise that will.
It's okay. I'm an old man.
The next one on the list. Forktune.

Speaker 1 What is it?

Speaker 2 Forktune? Forktune? Yeah. Forktune.
This is where I start metagaming it, which I'm not going to do. The metagame move would be like you're not going to have three real ones in a row.

Speaker 2 But I do think this one is real.

Speaker 2 Fake.

Speaker 2 Fake.

Speaker 2 it is fake wow i was sort of thinking about

Speaker 2 what a key could be than a tune tuning fork well i didn't even think about tuning fork i was thinking of like a like a fancy fork like a fortune oh okay fork tune fork tune

Speaker 2 so that's uh

Speaker 2 two to one two to one two uh

Speaker 2 rancher two uh nick with one got it dublade

Speaker 2 Dublade.

Speaker 1 That is a Pokemon, yes.

Speaker 2 Heather said that pretty confidently, so I'm going to say yes.

Speaker 1 Yes. He's a gold sword.

Speaker 2 It is. Well, it's two swords.

Speaker 2 But you still get the point. Okay.
You get the point. It's two swords.

Speaker 2 Like double blade. But isn't he got like, isn't he gold? He might be gold.

Speaker 2 I think the first form is gold. Okay, well.

Speaker 2 But you still get the... It doesn't.
We're not. We're not.

Speaker 1 I remember the sword Pokemon, so I was excited.

Speaker 2 The Blade is how a Chicago Sports Bar greets Wesley Snipes.

Speaker 2 The Blade. The Blade.

Speaker 1 Two hours, 55 minutes.

Speaker 2 I told you we'd get to three. This next one here on the list.

Speaker 1 Actually, it's a little less than that. It's a little less than two hours and 55 minutes.

Speaker 2 Matcha cha.

Speaker 2 Matcha cha. Matcha.

Speaker 2 Real. Matcha cha.
Matcha cha, real. False.

Speaker 1 Fake.

Speaker 2 It is fake. Wow.
And so my little

Speaker 2 name.

Speaker 2 I kind of was proud of that one. I was like, there would be a matcha-based Pokemon.
Yeah, it sounds real. I think I was also thinking of Machamp, which is like a real one.

Speaker 2 I was kind of hoping you would, too.

Speaker 2 Heather's in the lead. Wow.

Speaker 2 With four, I believe now. Four, three,

Speaker 1 two. I wonder if playing the Pokemon card game constantly has given me an advantage.
Interesting.

Speaker 2 Okay. The next one, Skater Ink.
Skater Inc. Fake.
Fake. Real.

Speaker 2 It is fake. Not my best work either.
I thought it was pretty good. Thanks.

Speaker 2 This next one.

Speaker 2 Chandelure.

Speaker 2 Chandelure.

Speaker 2 It's got to be a fucking chandelier Pokemon, right?

Speaker 1 Real.

Speaker 2 I'll say real. Fake.

Speaker 2 It is real. It is a chandelier Pokemon.

Speaker 1 Wow. It's like a kind of purple flames on the candles.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Yeah.
I like that.

Speaker 2 A lot of these sort of sentient items ones are like ghost-ish.

Speaker 2 The next one,

Speaker 2 Kling Klang. I just, I want want to say I want to stop myself from saying something.
What's

Speaker 2 you're going to say it, so just say what it is. I'm going to say it.

Speaker 1 Why wouldn't you say it at this point in the show? Anybody who's coming to the show.

Speaker 2 We got to hear it. We got to get the show over.
This part. We got to get the show over.
You Googled the fucking Slay the Princess thing for like 10 minutes.

Speaker 2 It wasn't for that long.

Speaker 1 What were you going to say?

Speaker 2 I don't even think it makes sense. Just say it.
It's okay. None of this has made sense.
It's okay. You're safe.
Say that's one that's a Pokemon Liberace we want to catch.

Speaker 2 You know what? You're right. It wasn't worth it.

Speaker 2 What? Pokemon Liberace would want to catch. He was like a, I mean,

Speaker 2 he played the piano, but he was like, what the fuck are you talking about?

Speaker 1 He likes chandeliers and he likes chandeliers. Is that no knowledge about that guy?

Speaker 2 Wasn't the movie called like Behind the Candelabra or something? I was thinking candelabra.

Speaker 2 Oh my god.

Speaker 2 Cup of Primo.

Speaker 1 Wait, I didn't. We didn't.
Do we even know? What was the last?

Speaker 2 It was real. Oh, it was Chandelure.
Chandelure. Okay.
Cup of Primo? Cup of Primo.

Speaker 1 Cup of Primo.

Speaker 2 Cup of Primo.

Speaker 2 Fake. Fake.

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's fake.

Speaker 1 There should be a coffee Pokemon, though.

Speaker 2 It's a good idea.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I'm coming up with good ideas for some. Cup of Primo.
Kling Klang.

Speaker 1 Real.

Speaker 2 Real. Kling Klang.

Speaker 2 Kling Klang.

Speaker 2 Fake.

Speaker 2 It is real. It's a set of gears.
Yep. That's cool.

Speaker 1 I know Kling Klang.

Speaker 2 Metal gears.

Speaker 2 Because it's Kling, then it's Kling Klang.

Speaker 2 It's Kling, then it's Klang, and then it's King.

Speaker 1 And then it's Kling Klang. That's it, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 And that's three gears. Yeah, I love it.
I fucking love it.

Speaker 2 Finally,

Speaker 2 Rogan Rola.

Speaker 2 Rog and Rola.

Speaker 2 Rog and Rola. I'm going to say that one's real.

Speaker 1 Real.

Speaker 2 That sounds like a mad original.

Speaker 2 Thanks, Ranch, but it's real. Wow.
And the thing about it is, it's just a rock.

Speaker 2 That's really funny. It's not even like a cool.
Like a set of drums or like a double guitar.

Speaker 2 It's just a rock. Yeah.
It's really good. That was the beastie area.
I forgot about the beastie area. Yeah, I think the beastie area.
It's a good old game. The beastie area is good.

Speaker 2 Bring the beastiery back.

Speaker 1 Guys, I want to say. Yeah.

Speaker 1 When I told my wife we were doing our 300th episode, she said, I remember when you came to me and said, I think I might do a podcast.

Speaker 1 And she was like, Never did I actually believe that one, you were, you know, that serious about it, two, that it would be such a fundamental part of your life.

Speaker 1 And I thought she framed that really well. I'm so grateful for this podcast, despite hating every minute of it.

Speaker 2 And I love all three of you so much.

Speaker 1 And

Speaker 1 I hope we do at least three more.

Speaker 2 No, it is very, it's very lovely sentiment. Yeah, that's very, very sweet.
Thank you.

Speaker 2 It is very wild to see how the show has changed and the ebbs and flows of time and the things we've all experienced together and separately.

Speaker 2 It's very wild to think about. We've covered a lot of ground in

Speaker 2 not just our

Speaker 2 in the podcast, but in our lives as well, which is very, very, you know, very nice. Very, very lovely.
I do really love doing the podcast and I love talking about video games with my two good friends.

Speaker 2 And

Speaker 2 it's been wonderful to get to know Rochelle and to get to work with you. What a hoot.

Speaker 2 What a hoot.

Speaker 2 And hey, thanks to you, the listener, for being a part of this. Yes.
Sorry that this was a sort of

Speaker 2 torture device that we delivered directly to your ears.

Speaker 2 What is that torture called?

Speaker 2 Where they like play, there's like a type of torture where they play like a pop song. Why are you looking at me? I kind of, because I feel like you would know.

Speaker 1 You mean the enhanced interrogation technique that the CIA validated after the September 11th attack, where they would play a pop song over and over again as a form of psychological torture. Yes.

Speaker 1 So, yeah, it was right to look at me.

Speaker 2 I will go on record to say this is my favorite podcast I work on. Oh, Richelle.
