Every third word. And you get by and like I do this.

Speaker 3 And so like Ari, I think I've told you guys this before, but Ari, I'll ask her like, hey, Ari, like, what's that person's name? And she'll be like, oh, it's Sarah. And I'll go up to the person.

Speaker 3 I'm like, hey, Sarah. And they're like, oh, my name's Janet.
And I'm like, Ari, like, why?

Speaker 3 And it's all the time. Every single time I can't ask her what somebody else's name is because I will go call them the wrong way.

Speaker 3 We were on tour this past weekend in Atlanta. And

Speaker 3 we told the story about 2819 about you being nervous driving. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3 No, you can tell him, but but you guys 2819 church has just we went this past weekend it was so special philip anthony mitchell's church i uh he has three first names it's awesome i know i called him the wrong name in an interview we call him anthony we call him mitchell

Speaker 3 I mean, I've been watching him from the beginning. And so, to, I'm like, I'm a digital disciple of 2819.
So, to be able to actually be in person at the church was

Speaker 3 a sight for Angela to see for sure. I mean, I was jumping up and down.
I was like, come on, somebody.

Speaker 3 You were in your element. I was going nuts.
You guys don't understand. I was literally losing my mind the minute I walked in.
I'm crying. You guys already saw me on the episode with him.

Speaker 3 There were so many memes about that episode, by the way. So many.
They're like, poor Ari. Oh, she's just crying the whole time.

Speaker 3 But the funniest thing, so Ari's friend Sophie was with us and her daughter Kalia.

Speaker 3 And we're driving in the car in the morning. And the one thing about Ari and I, we are truly servant-hearted, humble queens,

Speaker 3 and it's really important for us to get like a nice smoothie with good ingredients. Like, these things are really important to us.

Speaker 3 And so, uh, we're in Atlanta, and I just like struggle sometimes in the south in general when we're there on tour. I love the south so much, but I also can't find food that makes me feel safe

Speaker 3 sometimes.

Speaker 3 And so, I just wanted a smoothie so bad, and we're like 30 minutes early to church, and I'm like, she's in the worst mood i was like all right if i don't eat soon like nobody's gonna be happy and i look at her i'm like patience she goes patience and i said she goes you get in and drive she didn't want to drive and anytime i drive she watches me like a hawk because you watch me like because i'm the b type friend

Speaker 3 And then, so we go to, we're at the church. And then I'm like, all right, I need to eat something.
I need a smoothie. I need something in my stomach.
And my friend Sophie is strictly organic.

Speaker 3 So organic. So organic.
Like, she's like, she wants something very healthy, very good ingredients. And so I look up on my phone smoothies and I'm like, oh, this place is perfect.

Speaker 3 It's called Get Fruity. I was like,

Speaker 3 Ange, did you find a place?

Speaker 3 And she was like, you know, when you have like such a bad mood, you want to talk? She's like, yeah. She's like, there's a place called like, let's get

Speaker 3 fruity, like a mile away.

Speaker 3 And you're like, okay,

Speaker 3 I was like, okay, get fruity. And then so we go there.
And by the looks of the outside, this poor company, we're not like blasting this place. It was just like a fried fish sandwich.

Speaker 3 Oh, I think it's so simple.

Speaker 3 So we go to this place and it does not look like a place where I want to get a smoothie or Sophie wants to get a smoothie. And it's like not even open yet.
It was five minutes.

Speaker 3 We're parked outside of it and we're looking at the door and we pull up and we go.

Speaker 3 We pull up and I go, I'm not eating here. My friend, so I go, Sophie, you and Clea want to go in and get it.
She goes, no, there's a, there's a fish,

Speaker 3 there's a fish stick sandwich on the door and a snapple. And there's, I'm like, just go get a smoothie.
So she's like, no, there's dyes in it. Like, I'm good.
I'm like, we are so.

Speaker 3 And then I was laughing

Speaker 3 all day thinking about the fish sandwich. Like, we went to get fruity smoothies and there's a fish sandwich, fish sticks, and a snapple.

Speaker 3 And I said, I have to get back to LA where I can eat. We are

Speaker 3 so unhinged. Oh my gosh, that was so funny.
And then we're going into 2819. And bless Ari's heart.
I mean, this church, these people mean the world to her.

Speaker 3 And I respect it because I'm that way with people that I love. And I love them too.
But Ari

Speaker 3 got so nervous.

Speaker 3 She got so nervous and she was driving.

Speaker 3 And I noticed.

Speaker 3 And she was driving like two miles an hour, saying hi to everybody as we were going in. And so, and she's just staring at me like I could feel the stare.

Speaker 3 And I was like,

Speaker 3 you can go?

Speaker 3 I almost crashed into a park.

Speaker 3 And then when you were trying to park and you parked so badly,

Speaker 3 and you were so embarrassed as if everybody was watching, I was like,

Speaker 3 this is truly one of the best moments of my life. Oh my gosh, that was so funny.
The fish sandwich and the snapple. Can somebody make a meme for us, please, of Ange and a fish sandwich and a snapple?

Speaker 3 Okay, so as we were saying, today we're talking about Moses and the burning bush. We're going to read out of Exodus 3, the first 10 verses.

Speaker 3 Why don't we set the stage a little bit and tell you guys who Moses is and what this whole situation is. So as we all know, the beginning of our faith, Genesis, Exodus,

Speaker 3 the whole Bible, the whole Old Testament is all about the Israelites, which are God's chosen people. The Israelites are the group of people that God delivered from Egypt into the promised land.

Speaker 3 What is really special about this is that's why I've fallen so in love with God.

Speaker 3 I think I've said this before, but I've fallen so in love with the Father through reading the Old Testament, and I am obsessed with the Old Testament, you guys. It is so rich.

Speaker 3 The stories are profound.

Speaker 3 Like, I love the New Testament as well, but there's so much that we miss in the Old Testament because we just think it's boring and old and Jesus isn't there, but it's so rich and it's so important.

Speaker 3 And so,

Speaker 3 this man, Moses, when God appears to Moses at the burning bush, Moses wasn't a hero. He was a man that was hiding.
So, Moses is a man.

Speaker 3 who was born as an Israelite slave, but he was literally sent across the river by his mom, picked up up by another person in Egypt, and was raised as an Egyptian.

Speaker 3 So like imagine the identity crisis that Moses was facing his whole life, not knowing who he was, where he belonged.

Speaker 3 And then he grows up and he's in a situation where an Egyptian was going to kill a Hebrew slave. And basically Moses intercepts and kills the Egyptian.

Speaker 3 And then he ends up running for the next 40 years. So here we have a man, again, who's not a hero.
He's nobody special. He's just a shepherd, kind of like David.

Speaker 3 And God places a massive call on his life in a really ordinary, seemingly insignificant moment. And then so we have Moses.
He's in hiding for 40 years.

Speaker 3 And meanwhile, the Israelites are in deep, deep, deep captivity in Egypt. They have been slaves for a really long time.

Speaker 3 They're crying out, oppressed, and they feel like all their prayers are falling on deaf ears, not knowing that God is actively planning their rescue and their deliverance out of Egypt into the promised land.

Speaker 3 And so, in this moment, Moses thinks he's forgotten. The Israelites think that God is absent, but all the while, God is doing something really cool.

Speaker 3 And so, that's really important for you guys to know that no matter what you're going through, no matter how deep in slavery you feel you are, or no matter how deep in a lack of identity and purpose you think you are,

Speaker 3 God is up to something always,

Speaker 3 always,

Speaker 3 he's up to something.

Speaker 3 Working things out for your good and the good of all those who love him.

Speaker 3 All right, dude. So let's read Exodus 3.
We're going to read out of NLT today. Exodus chapter 3.
Moses and the burning bouche. Okay, I don't know why we keep saying that.
You're not even saying that.

Speaker 3 What accent is that? I don't know. You're so creepy, man.
You're so creepy, man.

Speaker 3 All right, Lord, thank you for your word that is more precious than gold. God, it is such an honor to teach your word.
It is such a responsibility.

Speaker 3 So, Holy Spirit, I pray that you would come and I pray that you'd release wisdom, interpretation, understanding, revelation, Lord.

Speaker 3 And God, I just pray that you would hold us accountable for all that we say when teaching your word and that you would you would just give us the words to say and don't let us say anything that

Speaker 3 is a wrong interpretation in Jesus name.

Speaker 3 And we just pray that every single distraction would be silenced from everyone that's listening, that they would put away their phones and they would merrily listen to the word and that you would even begin to minister to their hearts

Speaker 3 with their own situations that they're dealing with. In Jesus' name.
We pray that this word would enter deep into their hearts, etched on their hearts forever.

Speaker 3 And God, that the word that they hear would produce a hundred-fold harvest in Jesus' name. Okay, one day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian.

Speaker 3 He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush.
Moses stared in amazement.

Speaker 3 Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn't burn up. This is amazing, Moses said to himself.
Why isn't that bush burning up? I must go see it.

Speaker 3 When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, Moses, Moses. Here I am, Moses replied.
Do not come any closer, the Lord warned.

Speaker 3 Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

Speaker 3 When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God. Then the Lord told him, I have certainly seen the oppression of my people.
Listen to what God says.

Speaker 3 This is how much he sees us. I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt.
I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.

Speaker 3 God is aware of our suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land.

Speaker 3 It is a land flowing with milk and honey, the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.

Speaker 3 Look, the cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians have abused them. Now go, for I'm sending you to Pharaoh.
You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.

Speaker 3 So we're going to start from the beginning of all of this, but I mean, I just love, we're going to do the first 10 verses this week, and then we'll probably continue on the rest of the chapter next week.

Speaker 3 But what I love about this so much, so this is the moment where God comes to Moses and he calls him.

Speaker 3 He calls him to be the one who sets the Israelites free from the slavery in Egypt and to lead them into the promised land. And it's a wild ride after that.
But what do you think about that, Alec?

Speaker 3 Go ahead. You explain it.
Well, one of my first things that I think when I

Speaker 3 think about this story is we have Moses, an ordinary guy in an ordinary situation. He's passing by this bush.
The guy is just walking

Speaker 3 and he stops in a moment because he sees that a bush is on fire, but it's not being consumed. It's not burning up.
And what I love about this so much, what I was thinking about was like

Speaker 3 spirituality, a lot of people think that there's like the spiritual life and then there's just the regular life.

Speaker 3 And I think that's how a lot of us, including myself at times, practice and live out our Christianity where my spiritual life is my secret place in the morning with my candles. It's church on Sunday.

Speaker 3 It's the prayer rooms during the week. It's my phone calls where I'm on my knees praying with my friends.
But what we forget is that there is no difference.

Speaker 3 In biblical faith, spiritual life is all the time, everywhere. God is everywhere.
He's involved in everything. And so there is no separation between your spiritual life and your normal life.

Speaker 3 So things like doing the dishes, taking a walk, answering emails, like those are all opportunities for God to speak.

Speaker 3 And as we know through scripture is that God oftentimes speaks in those really quiet moments not in these big ministry moments or big like worship moments like it's in the tiniest sweetest softest moments that God speaks

Speaker 3 and there's the scripture Psalm 24 says the earth is the Lord's and everything in it So for Israel during this time, the whole place could become holy ground.

Speaker 3 And I love that God establishes this is holy ground that you're walking. There's nothing special about where Moses is.
There's nothing special about what he's doing.

Speaker 3 But because God is calling him in that moment, the presence of God is here, it's holy. You know, this is one of my favorite moments.

Speaker 3 Okay, so we see the moment where it says, when the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, Moses, Moses. And Moses said, here I am.

Speaker 3 So in this moment, Moses, if he was distracted, would have kept walking. If he was so engulfed in his own stuff, in his selfishness, his self-centeredness, he would not have noticed the bush.

Speaker 3 Like there was nothing that spectacular about a bush being on fire. That was like normal.
But he took a moment to notice.

Speaker 3 It was his curiosity that led to the biggest encounter of his life with God, where he went up and was like, that's interesting. Why is that happening?

Speaker 3 There's so much beauty and curiosity in asking questions. I feel like for me, What has grown my faith so much is asking the Holy Spirit questions, just being curious.

Speaker 3 God, what do you think about this? What's the meaning of it? Like, I feel like my most profound breakthroughs have happened when I've just simply asked curious questions.

Speaker 3 Yeah, and what I think is so crazy, it says, when the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, then God spoke to him.

Speaker 3 So, God did not speak until Moses stopped and was aware and curious. And so, oftentimes, God is waiting for us to look, stop,

Speaker 3 pay attention to him, and then he speaks in such profound ways and i wrote this down revelation meets attention true spirituality begins with noticing true spirituality begins with being aware of god what he's doing when he's speaking and truly that's why being on your phone which i've been doing a lot lately that's why being on your phone numbing out on social media it's killing all of us it's the worst thing you can do it is destroying the revelatory moments that God has planned for us because we're so consumed with like entertainment.

Speaker 3 And then I love this so much. I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt.
I have heard them crying out.

Speaker 3 The title of this episode is The God Who Delivers, but it could also be The God Who Sees, The God Who is Near, The God Who Cares. Because it says, I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt.

Speaker 3 I have heard them crying out.

Speaker 3 And specifically, I am concerned about their suffering. That is so

Speaker 3 comforting to me that God not only knows about my suffering, but he's concerned. He cares, which means that he's going to do something about it.

Speaker 3 You know, God never leaves you in a bad spot. No matter how hard it is and how difficult it seems, he does not leave you there.

Speaker 3 And I wrote down that this is the first revelation of God's character in Exodus. This is a really important moment.
It's the first revelation of his character because God is not an idea.

Speaker 3 He's not some abstract idea or a self-help guru. He is a person with a character.

Speaker 3 It says that God is the, um, he is the God who sees, who hears, who knows, and who comes down to deliver. Being spiritual doesn't mean that you have a spiritual life that is above suffering.

Speaker 3 You bring your spirituality into your suffering and you understand that God is with you in it. And then the last thing that I'll say,

Speaker 3 verse 10, the last verse that we left off of, it says,

Speaker 3 so now go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people out of Egypt.
So it comes with a commission. God always commissions us.
At the end of GGB shows on tour, we always,

Speaker 3 for the most part, commission people to go out and do God's work. We release,

Speaker 3 we ask the Lord to release the gifts of the Spirit and we ask people to receive in faith and receive the grace holy spirit empowerment to go out and be the hands and feet of jesus you don't just become a christian so that you can like have cool times with jesus you become a christian to be on mission to co-mission with god and and partner in what he's doing um every encounter with god carries a summon so god if you encounter jesus like he is in that moment not only releasing something to you but asking you to do something and he's commissioning you to go out and so i love this moment for moses this guy with no identity with no purpose he's just a shepherd tending to the flock working for somebody else gave up he gave up he's been in hiding how many of us are running hiding from god running from god yeah running from his past running from his mistakes

Speaker 3 i can't imagine he would have ever thought anything good was going to come for him in his life in this moment and god chose this man

Speaker 3 who is so disqualified, who's so unqualified, who's so

Speaker 3 full of shame and lacking identity and goes, you're perfect because my power is made perfect in your weakness and I'm going to do this through you.

Speaker 3 I wrote this down about a burning bush so people know really what it is. A burning bush in someone's life is a moment that grabs your attention so strongly that you can't ignore it.

Speaker 3 Something that interrupts your normal life and pushes you towards a purpose, decision, or change. It's often

Speaker 3 unexpected, persistent, and hard to overlook, just like the bush that burned but didn't burn up.

Speaker 3 And so I've had so many of these moments.

Speaker 3 Something that I was thinking about earlier that stuck out to me is when we first started Girls Gone Bible, I was still acting and I wanted to act so badly. I went to acting school.

Speaker 3 You guys know I had a long journey with acting where I loved it so much I loved the craft I auditioned so much even while having girls gone Bible

Speaker 3 and

Speaker 3 for like the first six months maybe and slowly little by little I felt the Lord start like pressing in on my heart and being like this is not the path for you

Speaker 3 and it was so hard for me to accept you remember we'd be like in podcasts I'd be like oh yeah I'm an actor like I act I like loved it I loved it and I didn't want to let it go like I let it go like I was ready Yeah.

Speaker 3 You, yeah. I just had worked so hard for so long and I was so, it was my greatest joy, my greatest passion, my greatest gifting.
It was like my gifting too.

Speaker 3 So for me, I was like, if you have the passion, the gifting and the opportunities, like that's got to be God's will for your life. It has to be, right? It all makes sense.

Speaker 3 And so we start Girls Gone Bible and I'm like, no, I'm going to have both. Like, it's not sinful.
It's not bad. I can do, I can do it all.
I can have both.

Speaker 3 And I just knew, though, deep, deep, deep down, I knew God was like, it's not for you. You're going to be in full-time ministry.
You have a really specific calling.

Speaker 3 Not that this thing is bad, but it's just not for you. Yeah.
And I'm like, but that doesn't make any sense. When everything is good on paper, Jesus, like,

Speaker 3 surely you don't know what you're talking about. I remember this.
Yeah, I was just like, I love it, Lord, though. I love it.
Like, I want to do this. And I've done it for a long time.

Speaker 3 How am I supposed to give up something that I've put my life and my heart and my soul, blood, sweat, and tears into, you know, since I was a little girl? Like, how do I give something like that up?

Speaker 3 And after Ari and I did a baptism night, the first year of Girls Gone Bible.

Speaker 3 And I think I've told this story before, but it was, this was like truly my burning bush moment. I was sitting

Speaker 3 at two o'clock in the morning. It was my first time doing like in-person ministry.

Speaker 3 So I didn't really know about like the in-person ministry adrenaline and like when you pray for people for three hours. I didn't, I didn't know yet what that felt like.
So I couldn't sleep all night.

Speaker 3 I was in my house and I was sitting on my couch and I had, and the bachelor was playing actually, but I wasn't watching, watching it.

Speaker 3 I was just staring at the TV and I felt the Lord so clearly be like,

Speaker 3 This is your life.

Speaker 3 This is your purpose.

Speaker 3 I need you to let everything else go.

Speaker 3 And it was finally the first moment that I ever came into agreement and I said,

Speaker 3 Lord,

Speaker 3 whatever I did tonight, that's all I want to do for the rest of my life. However you want me to be involved, I'll be involved, but that's what I want to do.
I am ready to let everything else go.

Speaker 3 And from that moment forward, my agent never reached out to me again. That's crazy.
I didn't reach out to them, which is like not normal. And I don't know.
That is crazy.

Speaker 3 And I don't necessarily, I had like moved agents. And so I wasn't really close to these people.

Speaker 3 And God was already being like, girl, like, you can try as much as you want. I'm going to make like you're, he's sovereign.
He's going to do whatever he feels is right for our lives.

Speaker 3 But that was my burning bush moment, truly, one of them, where God. grabbed my attention so strongly.
It was persistent, right? This was happening for a while. He wasn't letting up.

Speaker 3 And it interrupted my whole life. yeah and it changed everything good day and it was the best decision

Speaker 3 yeah, like you talked about Moses, like he met him in his, the most inconvenient moment of his life.

Speaker 3 God had met me in

Speaker 3 the most inconvenient moment of my life. He met me in the most broken time of my life, a moment when I was

Speaker 3 when my ex had left me, when I felt so rejected and worthless, when I lost my job, when I

Speaker 3 was contemplating on taking my life, when I just felt horrible, he

Speaker 3 came in at the craziest moment and met me in the middle of it and called me.

Speaker 3 I mean, that's my burning bush, right? Yeah.

Speaker 3 And

Speaker 3 yeah, and it's crazy. And it's like through that, I through that uncertainty and feeling so disqualified and

Speaker 3 having to expose the most inner parts of my life on Girls Gone Bible, which I did not feel comfortable doing.

Speaker 3 He just kept walking through that with me. I mean, I remember just feeling so disqualified, so uncertain, so

Speaker 3 like being on film for the first time and just not I mean, I was going through so much, but I kept being obedient and he kept walking me through that

Speaker 3 and then I think even

Speaker 3 the other biggest part of my obedience was

Speaker 3 you know sacrificing the biggest desire of my life which was being a mother

Speaker 3 and a wife yeah and

Speaker 3 laying down my timeline and laying down those desires for the for the call that God had on my life and

Speaker 3 you know even my taking off my sandals moment was like,

Speaker 3 you know,

Speaker 3 honoring

Speaker 3 that I had to lay that down for the, for the call that God had on my life and

Speaker 3 really being like, okay, well, this is holy ground. Yeah.
I know I have these desires, but I'm going to put that down to pursue you fully. Wow.
And so,

Speaker 3 yeah, I mean,

Speaker 3 being obedient has been,

Speaker 3 I could have done things so differently.

Speaker 3 I could have, you know, went the whole other way, but just blindly being obedient and letting God lead me in my life to the call that he had for me

Speaker 3 through the most just broken, inconvenient season of my life. It's crazy.
And that's, and that's why, like, he, he does not call the qualified. He qualifies the cult.
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 He calls the Yeah, right. Exactly.
So,

Speaker 3 yeah, he does not come.

Speaker 3 It's crazy how he works. He comes to you in the most uncomfortable, inconvenient moments of your life.
And it's like you have no say in when you're ready.

Speaker 3 I mean, all the moments I thought I was ready, all the moments when I, I mean, I was just showing her, I was

Speaker 3 showing her an entry in my journal where I was in 2022. I was like, please allow me to help people in my broken, in their brokenness, Use me with everything I've been through to help.

Speaker 3 Can I read it, please? Please read it.

Speaker 3 This was so cute when we read this this morning. Act of obedience.
I wrote this in January 20th, 2022. I wrote,

Speaker 3 I want a job that will take me out of my depression and build me a platform that I can help girls, even men, people that feel stuck like I do right now. I know I can do this.

Speaker 3 And so that act of obedience of

Speaker 3 laying down things that I desired so much and

Speaker 3 going through that tough season where I had to really

Speaker 3 put everything on the surface and be and be obedient and like talk about deep stuff. That's why like it's so hard sometimes to share inner parts of your life or do things that feel uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 But if God's calling you to do it, I promise you will thank Him later because now, three years later, I'm sitting up here writing in my journal three years later of the things that all I wanted to do, and now I'm doing it.

Speaker 3 So crazy, it's insane. So crazy.
And then I'll just say one more thing about this story.

Speaker 3 When God says, I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile, spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk.

Speaker 3 God is always preparing a Moses or a way.

Speaker 3 And when I think about my own life in the in that season where I was so broken, it was so uncertain, God was working behind the scenes.

Speaker 3 He was preparing you to then lead you to me to walk through this journey, which then led us to this.

Speaker 3 And so

Speaker 3 He's always making a way. He's always doing something, even when you can't see it.
If he's not preparing a Moses, he's preparing something behind the scenes.

Speaker 3 If you're in a season right now where you're just like, what is happening?

Speaker 3 I'm suffering I'm struggling I'm crying out to God and I feel like he's not hearing me trust me let this be a reminder when he says I have heard the cries of my people and I am coming down to the rescue them let that hit your heart and say this is for me he's going to rescue me he hears me and in due time he will come down and help me and yeah he will lead me to a land flowing with milk and honey can we write that on our hearts how beautiful is that?

Speaker 3 That's what he's doing right now in your season of the unknowing and suffering.

Speaker 3 Let that be a reminder to you. I was thinking about that song, Waymaker, and I was like,

Speaker 3 even though, what does he say? Even though,

Speaker 3 even though I can't,

Speaker 3 even though I can't see it,

Speaker 3 even if I can't see it, you're working. Even if something like that, but even if I can't see it, you're working.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 Like, please, like, even repeat that when you start to struggle even though i can't see it you're working miracle worker mirror game maker that's my song that's been my song since day one so yeah that's my burning bush that's my burning bush yeah we've had so many burning bush moments guys all those massive moments and even small moments in your life that god comes in and disrupts your plans he stops you in your tracks he gets your attention like that's a burning bush moment and I love what you were saying about God rescuing.

Speaker 3 Like, guys, please read the Old Testament. You will lose your mind when you find out who God really is and the fact that, like, he has such a specific character.
He is so cool and he's so kind

Speaker 3 and he's so merciful. And you watch the Israelites.
I hope that we do a whole series on Exodus because what we see these Israelites doing is absolutely wild.

Speaker 3 These people are given everything by literally are being delivered out of slavery and they're so disobedient. They are so ungrateful.
They're all the things.

Speaker 3 And then you move on to 1 and 2 Samuel, 1st and 2nd Kings.

Speaker 3 You see all of these leaders and these kings and these people that God puts into place and you see them and all the Israelites in active prostitution, disobedience, infidelity against God.

Speaker 3 And you see God, his character remains the same no matter what the people are like. That's what's crazy to me.
He will not stop rescuing them.

Speaker 3 They put themselves in bad positions, and God continues to rescue them. That's the craziest thing about God for me is that

Speaker 3 I love him so much. Jesus, literally, we make messes and God cleans them up.
That's crazy. He's so merciful.
He's so kind. He's so forgiving.
I just love the character of God so much.

Speaker 3 Guys, he is better than we can even conceptualize in our minds because he's nothing like us. That's right.
He's literally nothing like us. That's right.

Speaker 3 And he never stops rescuing us and he never stops

Speaker 3 caring and loving, even in the middle of our mess. It's just insane.
And he knows the beginning, the middle, and

Speaker 3 the future. And so it's like when we're questioning why and we're trying to do things in our, he knows his ways are perfect.
I don't know what's making me say that, but his ways are perfect.

Speaker 3 How you respond to the call is important. One of the ways like when Moses

Speaker 3 came and saw and then God answered him, it's like

Speaker 3 one of the things we can do is

Speaker 3 sit in your quiet time with him. Read the word of God.
Study it. Don't just look at it as something you study, but really read it and invite

Speaker 3 the Holy Spirit into your heart to minister to you as you read it. This is a way that that we can find the call of God

Speaker 3 for your life. Like, I had to spend an immense amount of time with the Lord.
And at times, it was uncomfortable when I wanted to go and

Speaker 3 chase my desires, the desires that I wanted, but I didn't. And I sat and I studied and I really built this incredible relationship.

Speaker 3 And it just, that act of obedience will show you where you are supposed to go, the instructions that he has for your life.

Speaker 3 And so, yeah, those are the ways that you can,

Speaker 3 like Moses, when he saw him take a closer look in where we are right now, one of the ways you can understand and see is intimacy with the Lord.

Speaker 3 Read the Bible, sit and stop talking so much and listen to what he has to say to you. That is an act of obedience.

Speaker 3 So good. That's so good.
Yeah. So how to recognize a burning bush moment for you? A burning bush often interrupts your comfort.

Speaker 3 it won't go away it feels bigger than your ability right a lot of the times god is calling us to do something we could never do ourselves and usually that's a sign that he's calling us to something

Speaker 3 it pushes you towards obedience not ego and it aligns with god's character and scripture so if you've had a pressing on your heart for a while about something and you just keep pushing it away and pushing it away and ignoring it it's something that you need to look at

Speaker 3 And I love this so much. Something that interrupts your comfort.

Speaker 3 I know it's Jesus when he wants to interrupt my comfort, you know, because it's so important. It's so important.

Speaker 3 And that's what he does because God actually, I'm so sorry to say it, doesn't care about our comfort. He cares about our character above everything else.

Speaker 3 And guess where our character has grown the most?

Speaker 3 In suffering. In discomfort, exactly.
And in our suffering.

Speaker 3 So it's just like these, as we mature in Jesus, you guys, every single one of us begins to realize that yes, God is a God who blesses and he heals and he brings comfort and love and all the cute, beautiful things.

Speaker 3 But then you mature and you realize, oh my gosh, he's here to grow my character. What does that mean? It means I'm going to be put in some really uncomfortable positions at times.

Speaker 3 And I need to hear this just as much as you guys do, but we have to remember that discomfort is not a sign of

Speaker 3 is not always a sign of spiritual warfare. Yeah.
It's not always a sign of being out of alignment. It's not even always a sign of a lack of peace.

Speaker 3 Discomfort is where we grow. Suffering is where we grow.
We have to not try to push those things off and realize what is God trying to do right now. Oh, yeah.
You know?

Speaker 3 I can vouch that. Yeah.
My whole life changed, not because I was comfortable, but it was because of all the uncomfortability

Speaker 3 that I was in that led me to this place.

Speaker 3 And it really, it hurts so much in the moment. It's confusing, it's foggy, but you guys, it's the place where you will end up thanking God later.

Speaker 3 Literally, when you mature and you come out of it, and you will be like, Thank you, God, for that uncomfortability.

Speaker 3 Can't wait to read Exodus, the rest of Exodus 3 next week, but I just wanted to say something. Michael Kulianos said something one time

Speaker 3 a long time ago that like literally changed my brain chemistry. And he said that, because as we know, Jesus is,

Speaker 3 in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So even though Jesus is born a long time later, after this moment of Moses in the burning bush, Jesus is here.

Speaker 3 He's involved. He is actively president, the president, not the president.
He is actively present.

Speaker 3 The Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are present here in Exodus chapter 3, way before Jesus' incarnation. And although Jesus isn't physically there, Kuleano said something like,

Speaker 3 because the burning thorn, the burning bush, a lot of theologians believe with evidence that it was a burning thorn bush. So it wasn't just a bush, it was a thorn bush.

Speaker 3 And if you think about Jesus on the cross with a crown of thorns around his head, Michael made the connection and said he believes that Jesus putting the crown of thorns on his head was a declaration, a proclamation that I am the fire in the burning bush.

Speaker 3 Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the all-consuming fire.

Speaker 3 Jesus, the Holy Spirit is an all-consuming fire and he engulfs us in his flames, but he never burns us up. While he consumes us completely, we are never burned up.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 3 So good.

Speaker 3 I love you, Jesus. The refining can feel so painful, but it will never burn us up.
Yeah. And Jesus is always, he is

Speaker 3 always on a rescue mission. He's on a rescue mission.
That's what he does. He's here to rescue, free, deliver, set for, like.
Purify. Purify.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 He's the God who rescues.

Speaker 3 He's the God who sees too. And he sees.
And he sees you in your suffering. Yeah.

Speaker 3 Even when it sounds like he's silent, even when he seems absent and like he's nowhere to be found, even when you're begging him to take the painful feelings away. He's so in it with you.

Speaker 3 And every moment he does not enjoy your suffering. He cries with you.
He hurts with you.

Speaker 3 But every moment he's involved saying they might have to suffer, but they will not suffer in vain. Something beautiful will come out of this.
So can I tell you something that I do real quick? Yeah.

Speaker 3 Because you said when you're suffering, you can always call on them. It's so simple, and it's such a simple thing.
But sometimes I'll be like,

Speaker 3 God, will you, can you just,

Speaker 3 can I put my head? This is crazy. I don't know.
It's so sweet. But it's such a, it's, it's something that I do that's so comforting.
I'll be like, will you just put your head on my shoulder?

Speaker 3 Like, I literally will say that. And I will feel this comfort.
And I'll just go like this.

Speaker 3 And it's like, all of a sudden, like when I'm in that grief or I'm in that pain and I just am talking to him like my, he's our father. Like we can talk to him with these things.

Speaker 3 Like, and I literally will be like, will you rub my head?

Speaker 3 And it's like, guess what? He's rubbing your head. He's rubbing my head.
And I just, it's it's this like sweet.

Speaker 3 And I swear, it's been like this for two years, like these sweet moments. And then all of a sudden I can breathe easier.
And then I feel joy. And then the peace comes and overtakes me.
