President Trump is calling for the investigation of Barack Obama, while the Justice Department wants to interview Jeffrey Epstein's close accomplice, Ghelane Maxwell.
Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce joins us now to talk about the latest in the Epstein saga and Trump's accusations against Obama.
Hey, Tim, so an explosive day with the White House yesterday.
Let's start with Trump's comments about Obama.
What does he want to see happen here?
He doesn't just want Obama investigated, but actually prosecuted.
Trump says Obama committed crimes in office that need accountability.
Those crimes, Trump says, are laid out in black and white in the documents that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released on the origins of RussiaGate.
Here's Trump on Tuesday.
If you look at those papers, they have a stone cold, and it was President Obama.
It wasn't lots of people all over the place.
It was them, too.
But the leader of the gang was President Obama.
He's guilty.
It's not a question, you know, I like to say,
let's give it time.
It's there.
He's guilty.
This was treason.
This was every word you can think of.
They tried to steal the election.
They tried to obfuscate the election.
They did things that nobody's ever even imagined.
We'll see if Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Justice Department feel the same way.
For his part, Obama put out a statement that said the claims against the former president are, quote, ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.
Yeah, we'll see if we start to see a trend of former presidents prosecuted like they prosecuted Trump.
Now, with the Ghelane Maxwell development, what are they hoping to get out of her?
Well, they wanted to name names.
Assistant Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement that he stands by the DOJ's findings, that there was no Epstein client list and that Epstein died by suicide.
But he wants to meet with Maxwell just in case anything else can be gleaned from her about Epstein.
And Congress is after Maxwell, too.
Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett, who sits on the House Oversight Committee, has led the push to subpoena Maxwell.
Here's what he told us.
Jesus said how you treat the least amongst you.
And surely these 1,000
little girls, they were probably little girls at the time that were raped.
I mean, surely they are the least amongst us.
We owe them justice, and we owe dirtbags like Epstein a trip to hell.
Now, the public also has a stake in this as well.
What kinds of evidence might actually be revealed?
Right.
There are still tons of documents related to Epstein that are in the Justice Department or in the courts that are sealed from public view.
Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massey is pushing legislation to release those documents, saying transparency is essential.
We talked to Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, who agrees.
We asked for the records.
We haven't gotten one record under FOIA.
The government has to disclose it in the, at least in our court process, because we have a FOIA lawsuit for it.
So they can tell us how many documents they have, where they look for them, what's being withheld, why.
But the idea that we still are waiting months after we filed for the law, the lawsuit for any document to be released under FOIA is simply not acceptable.
Tim, thanks for reporting.
Thanks for having me on.

Hunter Biden has made waves with his first interviews in years, defending his actions and his father and taking aim at prominent Democrats and media figures.
Here with the details from those interviews and some of the fallout is Daily Wire reporter Amanda Presti Giacomo.
So, Amanda, Hunter didn't mince words.
We're going to get to his comments on the Democratic Party, but first, he addressed his pardon, which was very controversial, and the famous laptop.
What did he say?
Right.
So, first, as a reminder, Hunter's father, former President Joe Biden, controversially signed a full and unconditional pardon for his son on his way out of the White House.
Hunter was convicted on three federal firearms-related felony charges, and he pleaded guilty to nine tax charges.
Appearing on the Channel 5 YouTube show, Hunter dismissed those legal troubles.
There's There's a box that you check.
And that box, when you go to Prince's Gun, says that you're not addicted to a narcotic, illegal substance, including marijuana.
And I checked that box because in my mind, it was a state of mind question.
Are you in the moment right now addicted to any illegal drug?
He also downplayed the findings on his laptop, which sparked allegations of influence peddling and Biden family corruption.
So Hunter Biden's laptop.
So what?
So what?
Who thinks it's right that every picture that you've ever taken, the ones that you would be embarrassed by and the ones that you would be proud of, should be on a website controlled by a guy that is the Christo-fascist incel that lives in Indiana?
Hunter defended himself and his family when it came to the burisma scandal.
In 2014, Hunter was placed on the board of Burisma, which is a Ukrainian natural gas company, and he was paid an estimated $1 million annually despite having zero apparent qualifications.
But you know, Hunter said that he was, quote, 100% qualified for that position.
And he cited his wealth, his connections, and his educational background.
Now, he also vociferously defended his father in this interview.
What did he say about Joe Biden being pushed out of the race?
Yeah, well, on this topic, no Democrats were spared except for maybe Kamala Harris.
He said that Harris was the only person his dad wanted to be nominee, and he said she was a very loyal VP.
Now, he did blame former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for pushing Biden out of the race, and he blamed other top Democrats for not backing Biden, which he says why Democrats lost in 2024.
Here's Hunter on the At Our Table podcast.
We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party.
That's my position.
We had the advantage of incumbency.
We had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration.
And the Democratic Party literally melted down.
Hunter also had a lot of ire for actor George Clooney, who famously wrote an op-ed in the New York Times, basically begging Biden to bow out of the race after that disastrous debate performance.
Him and everybody around him.
I don't have to be f ⁇ ing nice.
He's got a really great place in Lake Como, and he's great friends with Barack Obama.
You.
What do you have to do with anything?
Why do I have to listen to you?
What right do you have to step on a man who's given 52 years of his life to the service of this country?
He wasn't done here.
He also took aim at Democratic strategist James Carville, Obama advisor David Axelrod, and three Obama speechwriters who host the Pod Save America podcast.
And the Pod Save America guys, who were junior fing speechwriters in, you know, on Barack Obama's Senate staff, who've been dining out on the relationship with him for years, making millions of dollars.
So really not holding back, it sounds like.
What's the reaction been from Democrats?
Well, you know, Democrats just want Hunter Biden to go away.
Leading Democrats told the New York Post that they want to move on from 2024, and they view Hunter as the personification of loss that mainly helps Republicans.
Carvell also happened to publish a New York Times op-ed on the same day Hunter's Channel 5 interview was released, and he acknowledged the mass disunity in the Democrat Party, and he tried to get Democrats to look forward and unite for the midterm campaigns by, you know, rallying around repealing Trump's big, beautiful bill.
And there was also a direct reaction from those junior Obama speechwriters on their Pod Save America show.
You were on the board of burisma because of who your dad is.
And that is what people hate about Washington.
You were a liability.
You should be ashamed.
Well, it sounds like the gloves are off from the Biden camp.
Amanda, thanks for reporting.
You're welcome.
As President Trump continues to negotiate trade deals, new data shows a significant spike in domestic
Daily Wire's senior editor Cabot Phillips is here to break it all down for us, hey Cabot.
So let's start with these numbers that the White House is really excited about.
Tell us about them.
Yeah, and for good reason, President Trump campaigned on a promise to bring about a new golden age of manufacturing.
And a new report from the Federal Reserve shows real progress on that front.
This week, we saw fresh evidence that American businesses are pouring your record amounts of money into capital expenditures or CapEx.
Specifically, they're investing in producing new business equipment, which economists view as a positive indicator for future growth.
Essentially, it means that American businesses are ramping up to make more stuff here in the U.S.
So let's look at the numbers.
Last quarter, there was an 11% increase in business equipment production.
That comes after a quarter that saw an enormous 23% spike.
If you exclude the pandemic, those numbers represent the strongest six-month period in nearly 30 years.
And more broadly, overall capital expenditures are up 16% since President Trump took office.
All right.
So what's driving all of this, this flurry of investments?
Yeah, for more on that, I spoke to Joe Lavornia, a senior counselor to Treasury Secretary Scott Besson.
We think that is a result of the one big beautiful bill, which had retroactive expensing to Inauguration Day.
So companies getting very excited about the pro-growth policies that President Trump was putting forward, which means that we're going to see a much higher glide path, much
more growth in capital spending, which means it's going to reinforce this blue-collar boom we've been seeing.
The bill contains a lot of other positive pro-growth policies, such as faster permitting as it relates to energy production, the ability of
energy producers to tap federal waterways and land for drilling, which is something they couldn't do under the previous administration, essentially making it much easier to conduct business with low and stable tax rates that are now permanent.
It's encouraging people to spend.
And this bill also includes 100% expensing if you build a new plant.
Now, you heard Lavorni there mention what he called the blue-collar boom.
To that point, in the last six six months, real wages for hourly workers have gone up nearly 2%.
Now, doesn't sound like a lot, but that is actually the strongest growth for a president's first six months in more than 60 years.
Republicans say it's the result of deregulation and also border enforcement as companies have been forced to cut their reliance on illegal immigrant labor.
Yeah, it makes some sense there.
Now, the White House also got some big news about foreign investment in the U.S.
Tell us about that.
So on Tuesday, European pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca announced plans for a $50 billion investment in manufacturing and research facilities here in the U.S.
The company reportedly made that move to avoid President Trump's looming tariffs on pharmaceuticals coming in from other countries.
AstraZeneca now joins a growing list of companies who've poured trillions of dollars in new investments into the U.S.
Again, Lavornia says that is the result of Trump's big beautiful bill.
Now, we mentioned tariffs there.
What's the latest on those negotiations?
Well, the White House says that they're still in active talks with dozens of countries, and time is really running out ahead of that August 1st deadline.
Right.
And on Tuesday, we saw a major breakthrough with one of our largest trading partners in Asia, the Philippines.
After a White House visit from the country's president, Donald Trump announced that a trade deal had been reached with the countries, quote, going open market with the United States and zero tariffs.
The Philippines will pay a 19% tariff.
Trump added that in exchange, the U.S.
would, quote, work together militarily with the Filipinos.
But when it comes to trade, all eyes remain on China.
Treasury Secretary Scott Besson is heading heading to Sweden next week for another round of trade talks with Beijing.
But it seems the deal is still a ways off, as he implied Tuesday that he would be looking to work out an extension on the tariff pause that's set to expire in three weeks.
Well, no one expected that negotiation to be easy.
It has not been one so far.
Kevin, thanks for the reporting.
Absolutely.
Thanks for waking up with us.
