Trump accuses Obama of treason.
The Deputy AG plans to meet with Epstein confidant Ghelene Maxwell, and a massive trove of documents related to the MLK assassination are released.
I'm Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley with Georgia Howe.
It's Tuesday, July 22nd, and this is Evening Wire.
President Trump blasted former President Obama for treason today, citing new evidence that suggests the 2016 Trump-Russia probe was political targeting.
Speaking alongside Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
at the White House, Trump skipped Epstein-related questions and went after Obama and Hillary Clinton, accusing them of orchestrating a coup during the 2016 election.
Here's the president.
Barack Hussein Obama, have you heard of him?
Look, he's guilty.
It's not a question, you know, I like to say,
Let's give it time.
It's there.
He's guilty.
This was treason.
This was every word you can think of.
They tried to steal the election.
They tried to obfuscate the election.
This comes after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released a cache of declassified emails, which suggest Obama officials politicized intelligence to launch the Trump-Russia probe.
U.S.
Deputy AG Todd Blanche is planning to meet with Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghelane Maxwell.
Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce says latest.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch says the meeting will happen in the coming days as the Trump administration faces mounting pressure over the Epstein case.
Blanche confirmed the DOJ is seeking out any credible evidence that Maxwell might have to offer about crimes committed against victims.
However, Blanche reiterated that the July 6th DOJ memo finding no client list or grounds for new charges still stands.
Trump was asked about Blanche's outreach to Maxwell today.
I think it's something that would be sounds appropriate to do you.
I didn't know that they were going to do it.
I don't really follow that too much.
It's sort of a witch hunt.
Maxwell's attorney says she's willing to testify truthfully, and some speculate she may seek immunity or even a presidential pardon.
Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committee plans to subpoena Maxwell as a group of bipartisan lawmakers push for full release of Epstein-related files.
The Wall Street Journal has been barred from President Trump's upcoming trip to Scotland.
The move follows an article about the president's alleged ties to Epstein.
The White House Correspondents Association blasted the decision, calling it government retaliation and a threat to the First Amendment.
Meanwhile, Press Secretary Caroline Levitt defended the move, saying no outlet has guaranteed access, especially those spreading what she calls misinformation.
The journal's removal follows Trump's lawsuit over the outlet's report on a 2003 birthday note he allegedly sent to Epstein.
Trump insists the letter is fake.
Iranian leadership has confirmed that their nuclear facilities were in fact seriously damaged in the U.S.
strikes last month, but the regime also says they're determined to resume uranium enrichment as soon as possible.
In an interview with Brett Baer on Fox News, Iran's foreign minister had this to say.
We cannot give up our enrichment because it is
an achievement of our own scientists.
And now, more than that, it is a question of national pride.
Our enrichment is so dear to us.
We are ready to engage into negotiation.
to make sure that our enrichment is only for peaceful purposes.
Russia and Ukraine are set to return to the negotiating table.
Representatives from the country say they will meet in Istanbul tomorrow to discuss peace.
This comes on the heels of President Trump announcing a 50-day countdown to sanctions on all countries that buy Russian exports unless peace is achieved.
This will be the third round of talks between the battling countries after discussions in May and June allowed for the exchange of prisoners and remains.
The Trump administration is ditching the divisive UN agency known as UNESCO.
Daily Wire reporter Cassie Akiva has more.
According to the State Department, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization is not in the national interest of the United States.
The department says the agency promotes a globalist ideological agenda that is at odds with America-first foreign policy.
The U.S.
also takes issue with the organization recognizing the state of Palestine as a member state.
The U.S.
will remain a member of UNESCO until December 1st, 2026.
The move comes as the Trump administration has cut ties with other international groups accused of promoting anti-America agendas.
I've always felt that if the UN has tremendous potential, it's not living up to that potential right now.
It really is and hasn't for a long time.
At Instacart, we know that back to school doesn't just mean back to school.
It means back to lunch box packing, back to after-school snacking, back to soccer games, drama rehearsals, band practices, all back to back to back.
And if all of that's back, then it's time you get back to ordering through Instacart and do whatever it is that you need to get your life back on track.
Instacart, we're here.
Columbia University is just now getting around to punishing anti-Israel rioters who took over the university library in May.
More than 70 students will be punished for the library takeover.
The New York Post reports that two-thirds of the students will receive suspensions ranging from one to three years, while others will be expelled.
A university spokesperson says the suspensions are proof of the hard work Columbia has done to improve its processes.
During the library takeover, students defaced walls, banged drums, and chanted Free Palestine.
New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo appears to be toning down his anti-Trump rhetoric and focusing on affordability.
Daily Wire reporter Amanda Presto Giacomo has the details.
The former New York governor announced his general election campaign after he lost to socialist Zoran Momdani in the June primary.
In his primary campaign, Cuomo made attacking Trump a key issue.
Now, his campaign is focusing on improving housing, public transportation, and rent.
Cuomo's campaign says the former governor is still anti-Trump, but Mamdani's campaign says Cuomo is copying their playbook.
Cuomo is running as an independent after losing to Mamdani by 12 points.
The race includes current mayor Eric Adams as an independent and Guardian Angels co-founder Curtis Skliwa as the Republican candidates.
A police officer involved in the Breonna Taylor case has received a three-year prison sentence.
The Justice Department had requested a sentence of one day in prison and three years of supervised release.
Brett Hankison was convicted of excessive use of force for firing rounds through Breonna Taylor's window during a drug raid in 2020.
None of those shots hit Taylor.
Taylor's case was promoted as an incident of racial bias in law enforcement after the death of George Floyd.
The Justice Department's request of one day in prison marks a shift away from diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities in law enforcement.
Taylor's mother said the sentence was something.
I don't think
it was a fair sentencing, but it was a start.
I'm grateful for the judge for giving some time because we could have walked away with nothing according to what they recommended.
Other officers involved in the case are facing charges related to violations of civil rights and obstruction of justice.
President Trump has just made 230,000 pages of documents related to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
public.
Daily Wire Deputy Managing Editor Tim Rice reports.
The release is part of Trump's pledge to be as transparent as possible, especially in long controversial cases.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said that under Trump's leadership, her team is ensuring that no stone is left unturned in their promise to be transparent on Dr.
King's murder.
The release also provided the opportunity to digitize the files without redactions, excluding private information like social security numbers.
Gabbard said that there are many notes on the investigation into Dr.
King's death, but it is unclear how much new information will be revealed.
Southwest, the only remaining airline to offer open seating, is set to drop that policy and begin assigning seats to passengers.
Southwest executive Tony Roach says the customers desire more control over their travel experience, like the ability to select extra legroom, as well as more certainty of where they will sit on the plane.
However, passengers had mixed reactions to the news.
One man on X says the only reason he flew southwest was to avoid babies and pets, while another said he agrees with the move because it ensures faster boarding.
In sports news, Josh Kraft is stepping down as the head of the New England Patriots Foundation to focus on his Boston mayoral race.
Polling shows that Kraft is trailing Michelle Wu 59 to 29 percent.
Both of them are running as Democrats.
Josh is one of four brothers in the Kraft family.
Three of them have been involved in the operations of the Patriots football team, with Jonathan Kraft currently serving as the president.
Over the past five football seasons, the Patriots' 29 to 56 record is the sixth worst in the NFL, and the team is looking to turn it around after Tom Brady's 2020 exit.
On the baseball side of things, the Philadelphia Phillies just secured a strange walk-off win against the Boston Red Sox that hasn't been seen in the MLB for over 50 years.
With no outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, Edmundo Sosa attempted to swing at a Red Sox pitch outside of the strike zone.
And as he was doing so, his bat connected with the Red Sox catcher's glove.
It's an automatic interference when the bat makes contact with the catcher's glove.
Since the bases were loaded, Brandon Marsh walked off with a 3-2 victory for the Phillies.
This is the second time ever that a catcher's interference ended the game.
The first time was in 1971.
And heavy metal legend Ozzy Osborne has died at the age of 76.
From Black Sabbath to solo stardom, he defined an era with his raw vocals, wild persona, and unforgettable hits like Crazy Train and Paranoid.
Just weeks ago, he reunited with his original bandmates for one final emotional show in Birmingham.
Osborne leaves behind his wife, Sharon, and six children.
