Speaker 2 Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. President Trump now says that House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files because he says Republicans have nothing to hide.
Speaker 2 Until now, Trump has been fighting the release, criticizing Republicans who said they would vote for the Justice Department to make public those documents.
Speaker 2 That vote is coming up this week in the House, as Impires Marlison tells us.
Speaker 3 House Speaker Mike Johnson tried for months to avoid this vote, but he failed when four Republicans joined Democrats to sign a discharge petition.
Speaker 3 That's a tool that allows rank-and-file House members to circumvent leadership and bring bills to the floor.
Speaker 3 Last week, the House Oversight Committee released documents that show President Trump may have known more about Epstein than he has said he did.
Speaker 3 Trump has lashed out at Republicans who've demanded the documents be released, and he's ordered his Attorney General to investigate Epstein's ties to Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton.
