Speaker 2 Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. President Trump now says House Republicans should vote to release the

Epstein files. In a social media post late Sunday, Trump said Republicans have nothing to hide from.
Earlier in the day, he called demands for the release a hoax by Democrats.
Speaker 3 They're using Jeffrey Epstein as a deflection from the tremendous success that we're having as a party.
Speaker 2
For months, Trump has pushed to prevent the release of the files. Speculation continues to grow that the files show Trump in a negative light.
The USS Gerald R.
Speaker 2 Ford, the country's largest aircraft carrier, has arrived in the Caribbean. As NPR's Lydia Calitri reports, the arrival comes as tensions with Venezuela grow.
Speaker 4 The carrier is bringing more than 4,000 sailors and dozens of tactical aircraft to the northern Caribbean. They join around 15,000 service members that are already in the region.
Speaker 4 In a statement, Rear Admiral Paul Lanzalata says the deployment of the strike group is a step to, quote, protect our nation's security and prosperity against narco-terrorism. A U.S.

Speaker 2 Powerful storms that caused problems for much of California this weekend are gone for now, but the potential for problems remains.
Speaker 2 Officials say landslides in areas damaged by wildfires are still possible, and flood advisories remain in place in several areas. At least six people were killed by the storms over the weekend.
Speaker 2 Authorities in Monterey County, meanwhile, are searching for a five-year-old girl who was swept into the ocean by 15-foot waves. Her father died after trying to rescue her.
Speaker 2 Investors in Wall Street will finally get the jobs report for September that was held back because of the government shutdown.
Speaker 2 But as NPR's Rafael Nam reports, there's still no clarity when other key official data will be released by the governments.
Speaker 5 The September jobs report was supposed to have come out on October 3rd, but it will now be released on Thursday.
Speaker 5 Although late, it will still provide investors with an important look at the state of the labor market earlier in the fall.
Speaker 5 But the Bureau of Labor Statistics has not said if or when it will release a jobs report or inflation data for October, both of which were also held back because of the shutdown.
Speaker 5 And turning to the corporate sector, investors this week will also get earnings from chip giant NVIDIA, while results from Walmart's earnings should give investors a good glimpse about consumer spending in light of President Trump's tariffs.

Speaker 2 Stargazers may notice bright streaks high in the sky late tonight as NPR's Chandelier Stuster tells us the Leonid meteor shower will continue to be seen in the night skies through Tuesday morning.
Speaker 6 The Leonid meteor shower happens every November. The meteors are known to be bright, colorful, and very fast, traveling at 44 miles per second.
Speaker 6 Meteor rates are as low as three meteors per hour, but NASA says stargazers can catch up to 10 to 15 meteors per hour this year.
Speaker 6 The best chances of seeing the meteors will be after midnight and into the early morning hours.
Speaker 6 The American Meteor Society says to go to a dark location away from city lights and look to the eastern sky and the constellation Leo. Meteors will be seen streaking from there in various directions.
Speaker 6 The moon will also be less than 10% full, making it easier to see the Leonids. Chandelise Duster and PR News.
