Speaker 11 They were encouraging imminent, lawless action. Let's go to these stores, let's burn the thing down.

Speaker 11 There were speeches where they were saying this in front of people. That would not be protected speech.

Speaker 11 But saying death to America, sort of generally, we think this government should be overthrown, generally, not let's go to the White House and do it, but generally we think this should happen.

Speaker 11 Typically, that's fallen under protected protected speech.

Speaker 4 And it's only the speech that we absolutely despise that has to be protected. So if we want to be consistent.

Speaker 4 Well, you know, there's a lot of people out there that aren't as smart as, you know, some of the intellectuals like Flip.

Speaker 4 Or, you know, there's a, there was a, there was a, a big meeting of black mayors, the black Black Mayor Coalition on Crime

Speaker 4 that just wrapped up. And

Speaker 4 there were a couple of really, I mean, like Flip,

Speaker 4 could just see things that others

Speaker 4 And one of them was the mayor of St. Louis, which, of course,

Speaker 4 has long held the record of one of the cities with the highest violent crime rates.

Speaker 4 mayor of Memphis, who also lives in a very dangerous city.

Speaker 4 And while they were meeting on this coalition of crime,

Speaker 4 the St. Louis mayor

Speaker 4 suggested that

Speaker 4 instead of

Speaker 4 arresting a bunch of people, that, quote,

Speaker 4 the city should hold business owners accountable for crimes committed on their

Speaker 4 premises.

Speaker 13 Wait, what?

Speaker 11 They should do what now?

Speaker 4 So if there's crime, Yeah.

Speaker 19 Right.

Speaker 4 They hold the business where the crime occurred. So in other words, somebody breaks into your house.

Speaker 4 You should be held responsible for the crime that was happening at your house.

Speaker 2 Right.

Speaker 11 Because

Speaker 11 it's yours. It's your property.

Speaker 6 Exactly.

Speaker 11 That's where the crime is occurring.

Speaker 4 Exactly right. They said we have a lot of violence around convenience stores and gas stations.
How can we hold these business owners accountable and bring down crime?

Speaker 4 Because,

Speaker 4 I mean, you you know, convenience stores, they're like a magnet for crime, you know?

Speaker 11 With all that convenience. Yeah.

Speaker 11 What if they made it more difficult for patrons?

Speaker 11 An inconvenient type of store.

Speaker 4 Well, I mean, here's one of the things I would do, and I mean this sincerely,

Speaker 4 in either Memphis or St. Louis,

Speaker 4 if I owned the convenience store there, I'd say, you know what? You're right. You're right.

Speaker 4 What I do is causing crime, and that is providing a good or service to the community. So I'm going to fight crime by moving to another city.

Speaker 4 That's what I would.

Speaker 11 But then, of course, you are creating food deserts. And then

Speaker 4 I have to be held responsible for

Speaker 11 that.

Speaker 13 But the good news is...

Speaker 11 Who you shouldn't be held responsible, to be clear? The mayors. They have nothing to do with this.
The mayors should be completely exonerated from any responsibility that they might.

Speaker 11 Some people, you know, there are racists out there who will say that mayors uh in these cities should be held responsible for their performance as the mayor of a city and that's wrong it is wrong that's racist it is wrong good news those people are watching the solar eclipse today without glasses without glasses and they won't be able to see a darn thing so it's a way to make crime uh

Speaker 4 go away at least for one sense. Now we just have to work on the other five senses.

Speaker 4 to afford housing according to a new survey conducted by redfin The median asking rental price increased from less than $1,700 when Biden took office to nearly $2,000 as of February.

Speaker 4 Americans made other sacrifices to stay in their homes, 20% reporting working more hours, 20.6% saying they have sold belongings, more than one in six having dipped into retirement savings, and 15.6% reporting that they're putting off medical care to afford housing payments.

Speaker 4 That one is probably not a good, not a good idea. Not a good idea.
But everybody's doing what they have to do. How is it that this guy could win when this is happening?

Speaker 11 It's a great question. And I think there's a bunch of stuff we could bring up.

Speaker 11 And I don't think people are thinking of it that way. But I mean, just to give you a perspective, you know, national polls are national polls.
All they do is give you a moment in time, right?

Speaker 11 It doesn't mean anything about what's going to happen in November.

Speaker 11 But two months ago, Donald Trump was up by 4.3 points in the national average. He's now up by 0.3 points.
What?

Speaker 4 Oh, that's national, though.

Speaker 11 But again, what I'm saying is

Speaker 11 the media is going. We always talk about the media doing these things, and we complain about them.
But why do we complain about them? Because we worry they have effect, right?

Speaker 11 The reason we push back against these narratives is because we don't like the lies. Not because we don't like lies generally, of course we do.

Speaker 11 But we don't like lies that we think might come to, that bring other voters to an outcome we find negative.

Speaker 11 And we have to acknowledge the fact that that stuff can happen and does happen. It does move people.
And they are in the middle of this post-primary period where they have

Speaker 11 the New York Times released an article that said, here's every word Donald Trump said this weekend. And we're going to analyze every word of it and tell you why all of it is lies.

Speaker 11 They were ignoring this guy like he wasn't even on the planet six months ago. And now every single word from this weekend is out there in an article.
They are coming at him hard.

Speaker 11 They're going to do the other side of this too, which is trying to convince people that the economy is good and all these things are working out and the problems on the border aren't as bad as you think.

Speaker 11 They are going to do everything they can to keep this guy in office

Speaker 11 and the other guy out of it.

Speaker 4 You say a lie often enough and people will believe it. And that's what's happened with Donald Trump, okay? And he doesn't help himself all the time with what he actually does.
But,

Speaker 4 you know, you say Russia, Russia, Russia enough, people believe it.

Speaker 4 But this, when it comes to the economy and the safety of your children, your family, your neighborhood, you're witnessing that every day.

Speaker 4 Well, I know that people have been working to change some of those laws and shore them up. And I've seen some recent

Speaker 4 rulings in states that have

Speaker 4 shored that up. For instance, Wisconsin just got rid of Zuckerbox, which I think is very, very good.

Speaker 4 I don't know. We haven't done enough.
I mean, there is no excuse for a country that has invented a phone where you can see things happening in real time on the other side of the planet.

Speaker 4 It has more calculating power than was in the Apollo missions, and it's in our pocket. There is no reason why we cannot secure our vote.
Banks do it. Our banks are secure with our money.

Speaker 4 We know if we bring our money to the bank, they're not going to mess it up in the counting.

Speaker 4 How is it that this country with its technological prowess and the world's financial systems,

Speaker 4 how is it we cannot secure the vote? The answer is is nobody wants to secure the vote except for the American people.

Speaker 7 I don't think Republicans are serious about it.

Speaker 4 I don't think Democrats are serious about it. But we are, I am, you are, and I think we've made some moves towards that.

Speaker 4 I will tell you that our biggest flaw in 2020 was Donald Trump saying don't vote in advance. Don't do the mail-in ballots.
Well, you better fight fire with fire.

Speaker 4 You've got to do everything that you can. So I hope where it is legal, we are balloting, we're ballot harvesting.

Speaker 4 If you are in a state where you can vote with your

Speaker 4 early voting, please do. It's the early voting, however, that is catching us off guard.
We can't tabulate that fast enough, apparently.

Speaker 4 It has to be tabulated at night. So we're going to see several places say, whoa, wait a minute, we still have so much counting to do.

Speaker 4 And I just think whether that's on the up and up or not, and let's just assume that it is,

Speaker 4 I think that hurts the credibility. Because for many of us, we grew up in a place where you could count it.
overnight. I don't know why, you know, in the 1960s, we could count it overnight.

Speaker 4 Don't know why we can't seem to do that with all of our technology today.

Speaker 4 And there are states that have been doing the mail-in ballots for a long time that have it down, can count, and get it accurate.

Speaker 11 Yeah, one of the states that does it very well is Florida, largely because they went through the 2000 situation and wound up improving their systems quite a bit.

Speaker 11 I would argue that if you believe the election was stolen in 2020, there is very little reason for optimism in 2024. Many of the states that were,

Speaker 11 you know, if you believe they were stolen, were stolen by Democrats who then put in laws that were more favorable to their side.

Speaker 11 And so I think if you look at it, if you want to look at it from that perspective, there's not a lot of room for optimism.

Speaker 11 I think, though, no matter what you think happened in 2020, you must go forward with the complete and full assumption that this is going to be a legitimate election.

Speaker 11 Because if you treat it any other way, you're going to wind up mired in some sort of pessimism that defeats any opportunity you have to win.

Speaker 11 So regardless of what you think about in 2020, in between elections, fix the laws. When you get close to it, assume a completely legitimate election and do everything you can to win that election.

Speaker 4 And I will tell you that you saw people that were funding Nikki Haley and totally against Trump are now funding Donald Trump. You saw a report today that never Trumpers are coming on saying,

Speaker 4 we can't afford not to vote for Trump this time. So, I think you're seeing people get on board that have not not been on board before.
And

Speaker 4 I hope that's true for people who don't want to say who they're voting for. I hope people look at their pocketbook and their bank balance and their kids' future and realize we are way, way

Speaker 4 off track and we need to reverse that. And if

Speaker 4 If we are 10 points ahead, which is going to be extraordinarily hard to do, but if we could be five to 10 points ahead, eight to 10 points ahead, I don't think you could have any kind of fraud that would throw the balance.

Speaker 4 However, if it's, you know, one point,

Speaker 4 margin of error is three.

Speaker 4 So, you know, it's going to be tough. It's going to be tough.
We have to get everyone we can on board and we have to act like Democrats do. except do it all legally.

Speaker 4 We need to be going to the nursing homes and getting people their ballots, getting them to vote. We need to ballot harvest where that is legal.

Speaker 4 We need to take advantage of all of the things the Democrats do where it's legal.

Speaker 4 You know, I don't want anybody in Chicago voting, you know, that is dead.

Speaker 4 Although it would just kind of maybe, I mean, those dead people have a right to vote too, I guess.

Speaker 4 So, but I think if we can get and do everything that we're supposed to do, I think it will tip the balance.

Speaker 4 It's our last chance. It is truly our last chance.
It's not like this is the most important election ever. This is the last election of this republic as we know it.
If we don't change it now,
