Speaker 1 Coming up in this incredible part two episode with Anastasia Suare.

Speaker 2 Look at you getting emotional.

Speaker 1 About your daughter?

Speaker 2 Yeah. Family, it's everything.

Speaker 2 Sorry.

Speaker 2 I'm sorry. I don't want to be too emotional.

Speaker 1 That's beautiful. You're crying.
I'm crying. I'm so inspired by your strength, by your story, by your conviction, by your example of betting on yourself, by your just complete

Speaker 1 embracing of who you fully are, like fully authentic, like this is who I am.

Speaker 1 The amazing and inspiring Anastasia Suare, founder and CEO of Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Speaker 1 Anastasia is one of the world's most successful self-made women and is often referred to as the queen of eyebrows.

Speaker 1 And now, for the very first time, she's sharing her incredible journey in her brand new book, Raising Brows.

Speaker 1 My story of building a billion-dollar beauty empire, which is not only a behind-the-scenes look at building a global brand from nothing, it's packed with tools on how you can achieve your own big dreams too.

Speaker 1 As an esthetician and single mother with no connections at the time, Anastasia risked her life escaping communist Romania to come to America.

Speaker 1 Raising Brows tells the remarkable story of how she built a billion-dollar beauty brand and went from watching Oprah's Oprah's TV show to learn English to then shaping Oprah's eyebrows along with building a glittering roster of clients including Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Haley Bieber, Cindy Crawford, and pretty much all of Hollywood.

Speaker 1 But beneath the glossy exterior, Anastasia's path wasn't easy.

Speaker 1 From landlords and bank managers laughing at her dreams, she learned to ignore the naysayers and turn her dreams into her destiny anyways.

Speaker 2 I'm so competitive. I love to win.
I have to work. I need to know what's going on.
Me and my daughter, we are hands-on with the business.

Speaker 1 I think there's a lot of people listening that maybe they have a friend or loved one working with them.

Speaker 1 When Claudia first started working for you, because now, oh my goodness, now your daughter is also an icon in the beauty industry and a trailblazer and a change maker.

Speaker 1 Do you share in the book a tough love moment when you had to fire her? Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 It was a tough love. Yeah, yeah.
I was always tough with my daughter.

Speaker 1 And she was, I think, showing up late, right? Yes.

Speaker 2 And I fire her.

Speaker 1 You fire her, yeah.

Speaker 2 We have to set rules here. Number one, you are never late again.

Speaker 2 Number two, I am your boss. I'm not your mother when you walk in.
And I'm going to be tougher with you than all the employees because I could set an example.

Speaker 1 From that point forward, did everything shift? Yes.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 When I came in this country, do you know what was my biggest joy? It was, oh my god, you could have three jobs.

Speaker 2 Because I was thinking, like, oh, maybe I could work at this place and I will work at the pizza place and I will work here. I could get three jobs.
That was amazing.

Speaker 1 There's so many places where you can't get one job. And you're like,

Speaker 2 wow, I can get three jobs. Three jobs? That's amazing.

Speaker 1 That's amazing.

Speaker 2 My biggest regret is that I didn't have more kids. Really? Yes.
You should not, you should have more.

Speaker 2 Because at the end of the day, we build this incredible life and an incredible business. But I wish I had more kids to put them all to work for me.

Speaker 2 To the end of the day, family is everything.

Speaker 1 You've sort of done it all and you can sit here now and say this is what matters.

Speaker 2 To me, the most important.

Speaker 1 Even through this conversation, we're going to borrow your courage. We're going to borrow your strength.
You should.

Speaker 1 Anastasia is such a powerful testament to courage, persistence, and believing in yourself when others might not.

Speaker 1 I am so excited for us all to learn from and be inspired by her grit, talent, passion, and wisdom today.

Speaker 1 And whether today you're listening for yourself or because someone that you love shared this episode with you, I want to welcome you to the Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast family.

Speaker 1 I am so excited for this conversation.

Speaker 2 Welcome to the Jamie Kern Lima Show.

Speaker 1 Oprah, how have you defied the odds? Her show is unlike any I've ever done. A revelation.

Speaker 2 When you listen, it feels like a hug, but your brain and your spirit and your heart is like, wow.

Speaker 1 Melinda French Gates.

Speaker 1 When I look into Jamie's eyes, I feel like I am on some other cosmic level with her. I could see the light around her.
She's infused with light.

Speaker 1 Imagine overcoming self-doubt, learning to believe in yourself and trust yourself and know you are enough.

Speaker 1 Welcome to the Jamie Kern Lima Show.

Speaker 2 Jamie Kern Lima is her name.

Speaker 1 Everybody needs Jamie Kern Lima in their life.

Speaker 2 Jamie Kern Lima.

Speaker 1 Jamie, you're so inspiring.

Speaker 2 Jamie Kern Lima.

Speaker 1 I am so excited for part two of this conversation. You can listen to this one by itself or skip back an episode and listen to part one as well.
It is so good.

Speaker 1 Anastasia Sore, welcome to the Jamie Kern-Lima Show.

Speaker 2 Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 1 And you still work so hard because you do not need to work at all. And, you know, and I have people say to me, like, because I work a lot right now, I actually work too much right now.

Speaker 1 But I love it. Like I love, like I love the show.
I want to, like, I'm so honored to share your story with so many people. So I love it.

Speaker 1 I'm curious for you because you don't have to do nothing, right? So why is it right now you're still working?

Speaker 2 I love it. I love to be to be, I'm so competitive.
I love to be in the in involve. I love to to win.
I love to create products that my to me, my biggest compliment is when I read

Speaker 2 a comment and say, oh, I love love your products. I cannot leave without my browies or microstroke, whatever it is.
To me, that is

Speaker 2 an incredible fuel to my fire.

Speaker 1 Yeah,

Speaker 2 and I love it.

Speaker 2 What else I would do?

Speaker 1 Do you feel like you're working?

Speaker 2 No, no, I don't feel like I'm working.

Speaker 1 That's such a blessing.

Speaker 2 It's such a blessing. This is what I think.
It's a blessing that I have the passion. I wake up every morning and I am so fired to

Speaker 2 go on the Zoom or

Speaker 2 whatever I have.

Speaker 2 Yes.

Speaker 2 I'm so zoomed out sometimes,

Speaker 2 but

Speaker 2 I have to work. I need to know what's going on.
Me and my daughter, we are hands-on with the business.

Speaker 1 So, you know, I have heard a number of friends and people share that they believe that the greatest of all the forms of success, one of the greatest for them in their life is when their adult children actually want to spend time with them.

Speaker 1 And you

Speaker 1 have built your incredible business alongside your incredible daughter, Claudia. Can you talk about that?

Speaker 2 Well,

Speaker 2 many times people kind of

Speaker 2 mention that I'm you are so lucky that your daughter wanted to work with you and I answer them well She didn't want her to work with me, but I didn't give her choice.

Speaker 2 She, because I was working so many hours, I wanted kind of to spend some time with her.

Speaker 2 So when she was in school,

Speaker 2 she started working at the salon part-time to get some extra money for her gas or whatever she wanted to buy herself.

Speaker 2 And

Speaker 2 she started working at the front desk,

Speaker 2 and I could see her. And I think it was important for her to see how hard I worked, because I don't think she realized how hard I was working.

Speaker 2 She will always complain, you are never at my school meetings, you are never at

Speaker 2 the events that we have at the school. And I used to tell her, like, I can't, I can't cancel my clients.
I have six months

Speaker 2 ahead of my schedule that clients will book themselves.

Speaker 2 So she started working at the front desk at the the beginning. I was a little challenging, but slowly she started getting really good at what she was doing.

Speaker 2 And after a while she went to the corporate office and she started working in every single department because I wanted her to understand, as you know,

Speaker 2 creating a

Speaker 2 company and a beauty business, every department is completely different. Operations are different.

Speaker 2 Reading a contract and salesperson, it's a different department.

Speaker 2 Packaging, marketing, every department is great and has an important role in building a company. And I wanted her to understand everything.

Speaker 2 So she did that, and she loved making products, the product development. And she stayed there.
And in 2012, as I'm sure you read in the book, she

Speaker 2 came with the advice. I mean, she was the one

Speaker 2 talking about the Instagram, was a new app.

Speaker 2 And she said, Mom, we are traveling, because every weekend we used to travel to do personal appearance in Nordstrom's around the country.

Speaker 2 And she said,

Speaker 2 we work seven days a week, and traveling is not that easy, as you know.

Speaker 2 Is this app, Instagram, we could post videos or pictures and maybe we don't need to travel that much to promote our brand.

Speaker 2 I said, of course, let's let's try it.

Speaker 2 And we posted few pictures and of course we start reading every single comment. And I remember vividly one comment.
We posted a Brawie's picture. And one lady said, Oh, I wish I could buy this pencil.

Speaker 2 And I said, send me the address and I will ship you one. And she said, oh, you can, because I live in a small village in India.

Speaker 2 And that was the moment when I thought, wow, the reach that this app has, it's unbelievable. I mean,

Speaker 2 how will I reach in 2012 somebody in India? And that was the beginning of full force. Me and Claudia, not only did we do everything else in the company, we run the Instagram, just us.

Speaker 1 And you and Claudia and your entire company were so visionary with everything with social media, with influencers.

Speaker 1 I want to ask you, because I think there's a lot of people listening that maybe they have a friend or loved one working with them. Yes.
Or for me, it was my husband. That was a whole it is a miracle.

Speaker 2 We are married. We are still married.
Yes.

Speaker 1 It's a miracle that we are still in love because it is hard to run a business or work with someone you love or care about.

Speaker 1 For you, I love that you share so much of the behind the scenes in the book.

Speaker 1 And so, when Claudia first started working for you, because now, oh my goodness, now your daughter is also an icon in the beauty industry and a trailblazer and a change maker.

Speaker 1 But when you go to the very beginning, when she's working in the front desk, right? And

Speaker 1 she's just trying to earn some extra money. And

Speaker 1 can you talk about, and this is long before,

Speaker 1 you know, everything else, can you talk about how that dynamic was? Because you share in the book a tough love moment when you had to fire her. Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. It was a tough love.

Speaker 2 Yeah, yeah. I was always tough with my daughter, I think,

Speaker 2 because I wanted her to be disciplined. I wanted her, look, I love my daughter, and there's no question about that.

Speaker 2 But I believe kids need discipline.

Speaker 2 And

Speaker 2 she always had to know that I'm the mother and she's the child and she needs to follow the rules of course when you are young you don't when you are a teenager you don't like too many rules but yeah I give no choice to Claudia and yeah we used to fight we used to but at the end of the day she needed to do what she's supposed to And she was, I think, showing up late, right?

Speaker 2 Yes.

Speaker 2 And I fire her. You fired her, yeah.

Speaker 1 And was there a moment where you were sort of hoping, like, I hope she comes back. I hope this works out.

Speaker 2 She, first of all, she was so good at the front desk. Now we have, we need three people at the front desk.

Speaker 2 And

Speaker 2 she was so good. She was efficient.
She knew how to handle clients. She was excellent.

Speaker 2 And I wanted her to come back. I couldn't replace her.
I couldn't find anyone to replace her. And when she came back to,

Speaker 2 she got the job at the insurance company, and she came back and she asked to borrow some money because she didn't have enough money to pay her rent.

Speaker 2 She said, Mom, I didn't know I have to pay so many taxes, and

Speaker 2 can I borrow some money? Like, no, I'm sorry, I can't.

Speaker 2 So, I wanted her to beg me to get her job back because I couldn't ask her. I want to kind of teach her a lesson.
And

Speaker 2 I went back in the room, and

Speaker 2 after I shaped I had another client I came back she was still outside and I said Claudia I'm not gonna give you the money it's like the only thing I could do because you are really good in what you do I could give you the job back

Speaker 2 it's like okay but we have to set rules here the moment you walk in number one you are never late again Number two, I am your boss, I'm not your mother when you walk in, and I'm going to to be tougher with you than all the employees because I could set an example.

Speaker 2 And that was the rule.

Speaker 1 And from that point forward, did everything shift?

Speaker 2 Yes. Yeah.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Was probably the best lesson of her life.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 With that, with, that's so good because a lot of people struggle to set boundaries at work or they, or they work, you know, if they work with someone that they're related to or that they love or care about or a good friend, it's hard for people to do that and to separate.

Speaker 2 No, no. For me, you could, no, could be my daughter, it doesn't matter.
Business is business.

Speaker 2 I never ever do anything, not only for anyone.

Speaker 2 Business is tough. You need to perform.
You don't perform, we don't survive.

Speaker 1 Yes.

Speaker 1 And don't you find, I'm curious actually, because I think once you start taking off and you start having so much success, success can mask inefficiencies inside.

Speaker 1 And so were you, have you always sort of been on top of all of that too? Did you ever experience that where you had underperformers that you were sort of carrying

Speaker 1 on the success?

Speaker 2 Of course.

Speaker 2 And most of the time, I like to

Speaker 2 re-evaluate

Speaker 2 the people that work. And maybe they cannot perform in certain areas, but they are better in another

Speaker 2 job

Speaker 2 in the company. And I like to switch that.
And I like to use their talent because I like the people that I work with.

Speaker 1 Yes, and a lot of your people have been with you forever. Yes, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 I have girls that have worked for me for like 25 years.

Speaker 1 Yeah,

Speaker 2 yeah, I love, I love that.

Speaker 2 It's one virtue that I really admire in people:

Speaker 2 loyal and

Speaker 1 yes.

Speaker 1 I know when I get resumes now to this day where they have like a job each year,

Speaker 2 this is exactly. I tell everyone, and for everyone that is listening, please do not jump one year, every year to another job.
Don't jump because anyone that will look at your resume and see,

Speaker 2 I was for one year at this company and another year at this company and another year at this company. No, you cannot build something anywhere if you are not there for a few years.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 So bite the bullet and stay there. Yeah.
Build something.

Speaker 1 Yeah, we won't even entertain a resume at all. And it's interesting, even we work with a lot of agencies, recruiting agencies, they'll send us so many resumes where it's one year, one year, one.

Speaker 1 Even though we tell them, no, no, no, no, we won't even look at it.

Speaker 1 And but it is wild how common that is nowadays. And all I see when I see that is, oh, you're going to jump ship here in a year.
We're going to pour into you and pay you because you create better.

Speaker 1 You invest. Exactly.
Yes, yes.

Speaker 2 And what

Speaker 2 people need to understand is that you invest, the company invests a lot in training you to learn, to see.

Speaker 2 And then when you move and you go to somebody else and you say, oh, I grew the company or whatever, you know, in one year, you couldn't do that. Yes.
So

Speaker 2 people that are going to interview you, they are smart people. And if you want to really

Speaker 2 be believable, you need to stay a few years in a job.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I think it's like the most important.

Speaker 2 The most important. Build something, build a great resume if you are young.

Speaker 1 Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 When you think about Claudia and you think about your journey of everything you've built from the days when you were the sole breadwinner

Speaker 1 all the way through to us sitting here right now.

Speaker 1 Do you have any, would you change anything in terms of how much you worked? Because I think about this in my own life and I get this question all the time. Like, should I do, you know,

Speaker 1 you know, I want to launch this thing, but oh my gosh, I'm working so much. I'm missing out on my life and I'm missing out on friends and my kids say I'm never home.

Speaker 1 And would you, do you have, would you change anything, meaning do you have any regrets about how much you worked to get to where you are right now?

Speaker 2 I've never regret what my past.

Speaker 2 I don't like to look that much in my past

Speaker 2 because I think everything I've done got me where I am today, and I'm so happy, and I'm so grateful.

Speaker 2 I love that I was able to work that hard. Do you know when I came in this country? Do you know what was my biggest joy?

Speaker 1 We need to pause for a super brief break. And while we do, take a moment to share this episode with every single person that you know who this could inspire.

Speaker 1 And now more of this incredible conversation together.

Speaker 2 Do you know when I came in this country, do you know what was my biggest joy? It was, oh my god, you could have three jobs.

Speaker 2 Because I was thinking like, oh, maybe I could work at this place and I will work at a pizza place and I will work here. I could get three jobs.
That was amazing. So it was a joyful

Speaker 2 thing for me.

Speaker 2 And being able to work and to achieve whatever you want and being happy

Speaker 2 with what you do, I think it's and having a purpose is probably the best thing I have ever done in my life. Forget about the success and of course I enjoy every minute,

Speaker 2 but having a purpose to me is the best thing.

Speaker 2 Not only that I was able myself to have that, the purpose, but I was able to bring my daughter to have a purpose. To me, that's my biggest achievement.

Speaker 1 It is so beautiful. Like the meaning we attach to things or the story we tell ourselves about things can just change our entire life.

Speaker 1 There's people that don't realize that there's so many places where you can't get one job. And you're like, Yes,

Speaker 2 I can get three

Speaker 2 jobs. That's amazing.

Speaker 1 That's amazing.

Speaker 1 And I just think hearing that is so powerful because we all have the power to shift our perspective on stuff.

Speaker 1 When you think of your daughter, Claudia, Claudia,

Speaker 1 what are your hopes for her in this life?

Speaker 2 Wish she will have

Speaker 2 children.

Speaker 2 She always,

Speaker 2 when I ask her about Claudia, I mean, I think

Speaker 2 you need to have a baby. It's like, mom,

Speaker 2 we can, we need to launch this little product.

Speaker 2 Like, we are too busy. No.

Speaker 2 You are never too busy.

Speaker 2 You should have a baby. But I hope

Speaker 2 my biggest regret is that I didn't have more kids. Really? Yes,

Speaker 2 you should have more.

Speaker 2 Because at the end of the day, we build this incredible life and incredible business. But I wish I had more kids to put them all to work for me.

Speaker 2 I think it's so amazing, because at the end of the day, family is everything.

Speaker 2 And having children is amazing. It's a gift that nothing could give you more joy.

Speaker 1 I don't think I've ever met anyone that says, I wish I had fewer kids, right?

Speaker 1 It's always, I'm going to record, this last two minutes, I'm going to replay for my husband over and over because I've been telling him, he's not going to always want seven.

Speaker 1 He's like, I think we're good with three.

Speaker 1 And I'm like, no one ever regrets, but we just, I mean, we just welcomed our third into the world. Right.

Speaker 1 thank you. But I, I, and you know, you know, as you said, how hard it is.
Yes. But I think the same thing.
I think, like, you should have more.

Speaker 1 Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 50 years from now, when someone asks Claudia, tell me about your mother, what do you hope she says?

Speaker 2 I think my daughter

Speaker 2 is,

Speaker 2 she will say, my mom worked very hard,

Speaker 2 but she loved what she did.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 1 And what will she say about

Speaker 1 who you are to her?

Speaker 2 Oh, we are everything to each other.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 1 You and I have so much in common. We have been through so many similar things.

Speaker 2 Look at you getting emotional.

Speaker 2 Yes.

Speaker 1 About your daughter?

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 1 Yeah. What are you feeling?

Speaker 2 Well,

Speaker 2 I feel like I run the marathon and

Speaker 2 we work a lot

Speaker 2 but thank God we love what we do.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 What can I say?

Speaker 2 My mother is ninety-two.

Speaker 2 She's I mean, she had a great life, but she's,

Speaker 2 you know, 92.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 And

Speaker 2 the three of us,

Speaker 2 I think we

Speaker 2 had this incredible connection,

Speaker 2 three generations, an incredible connection. supporting each other and it was not dream big enough for us and and helping and supporting each other.

Speaker 2 When I left Romania, everybody thought, Are you crazy to leave? You don't know anyone there. My mother said, No, go, go, go.

Speaker 2 And I will come when this, when I will be able to come, I will come.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Like I said, family, it's everything.

Speaker 2 Sorry.

Speaker 2 I'm sorry. I don't want to be too emotional.

Speaker 1 That's beautiful. You're crying.
I'm crying. I just, I

Speaker 1 want to say I'm so

Speaker 1 inspired by your strength, by your story, by your conviction, by your example of betting on yourself, by your just complete

Speaker 1 embracing of who you fully are, like fully authentic. Like, this is who I am.

Speaker 1 You know what I mean? And by you sharing the things that you learned the hard way, by

Speaker 1 you inviting us into your story in Raising Brows, your new book about just like your journey, your journey, and also hearing now the things that you value, you know, because you've, you've sort of experienced so many things, good and bad, but so many things people could only dream about.

Speaker 1 And you've sort of just, you've been inside rooms that people could only imagine. I haven't even,

Speaker 1 if I read your actual bio,

Speaker 1 I would still be reading it in an hour because of how much you've done, how many of the most incredible

Speaker 1 iconic women from all over the world that are not just your clients, but your dear friends and love you. I mean, you've just done so many things.
And

Speaker 1 what I love is you've sort of done it all and you can sit here now and say this is what matters.

Speaker 2 To me, the most important.

Speaker 1 Yeah, yeah. Yes.

Speaker 2 the most important. My family, my mother, my daughter, my friends, people that I work with.
Very simple. I like simple life.

Speaker 2 And I'm still excited that I could work.

Speaker 2 Yeah. And love what I do.

Speaker 1 And I love that I think people are going, including myself. I think...
I think even through this conversation, we're going to borrow your courage. We're going to borrow your strength.

Speaker 1 Like, I literally felt myself in my body being in your spot where you're like, I don't care if no one will valet this car. I'm prioritizing this, and I'm going to park this far away.

Speaker 1 So my daughter's not, you know, all the things. But like, you're, you do not care about what other people think.

Speaker 1 And I just think that all of us need to borrow that courage because so many of our of us, for so many reasons, we shrink or we play it small, or

Speaker 1 we don't go for it, or we doubt ourselves out of it, or we conform.

Speaker 2 And it's another form of when you do not care, or when you show the other person

Speaker 2 that

Speaker 2 their

Speaker 2 negative

Speaker 2 thoughts doesn't affect you,

Speaker 2 then they will not do it anymore.

Speaker 2 You know what I mean? You build an imaginary wall that you don't let anyone to bully you, to talk bad to you, to

Speaker 2 stay strong.

Speaker 2 And I promise you that this works.

Speaker 1 Do you feel like you have that in a magic? Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 Oh, yeah. This is how I build that.
Because, I mean, it was very difficult at the beginning

Speaker 2 for me. I mean, I used to, I remember Claudia was at the front desk, and

Speaker 2 she used to say, Mom, I don't know this client, that the clients are coming here. I don't have a spot for them.

Speaker 2 And they scream at me, and they are rude to me because they want an appointment right now and I cannot fit them in. And I used to say, Claudia, this is how you're going to handle this.

Speaker 2 Build this imaginary glass wall between you and the clients. You always have to be polite to the clients because they are everything to us, very polite.

Speaker 2 And if they don't understand that we don't have time,

Speaker 2 we are completely booked, you always have to be nice and say, let me see what I could do for you. Just give me a few minutes

Speaker 2 and check. Maybe she could come tomorrow, or maybe she could go and shop at Neiman Marcus and come a little bit later, or get their cell number.

Speaker 2 And if they will be able to, you could call them and they could come immediately if a client will not show up for their appointment.

Speaker 2 Find a way to show greatness and goodness, and I will promise you you will be completely different. And this is how she did.

Speaker 2 She did it, and she completely changed her aura and the relationship between her and the customers. Always you have to have that imaginary wall.

Speaker 1 I bet that's so good. And I bet you teaching her that because I know she was such an innovator and visionary

Speaker 1 early

Speaker 1 with social media and with influencer strategy.

Speaker 1 I mean, you know, it's interesting that, you know, nowadays, 2025, 2026, I think that any entrepreneur has to be on social media, has to be, I mean, now it's just part of it, but a lot of people don't know how to handle it when you get people that come at you or say negative things.

Speaker 1 And so I bet you for her, you teaching her that invisible wall and like, you know, and still, you know, show greatness, but don't let that negativity penetrate you.

Speaker 1 Have you ever...

Speaker 1 Has she ever, or you ever had tough times being so big on social media and in the influencer influencer world when, like, some, you know, when, when that might happen, have you, or have you always been able, both of you, to kind of keep that invisible wall where you don't let it

Speaker 1 dim your light or impact you?

Speaker 2 We tried, yes. I mean, there were moments probably that were

Speaker 2 not the nicest,

Speaker 2 but you know, you can't make everybody happy.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 And again, we have the best intention. We are here to do the best.
We are trying our best.

Speaker 2 And if you don't like it, I understand.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 But

Speaker 2 I'm sorry, I cannot make you happy.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 I try.

Speaker 1 Those are the most beautiful words because I think people will take those words who are listening right now and be like, okay, am I trying my best? Are my intentions good? Then, you know what?

Speaker 1 If I'm not for you, I'm not for you.

Speaker 1 Just kind of like, yeah, that's so beautiful. You know, you and I

Speaker 1 have so many different experiences and then then also so many similarities in our journey. And

Speaker 1 I just,

Speaker 1 you know, I think that

Speaker 1 what I'm realizing more and more as I meet more and more and more and more women and entrepreneurs and men is that a lot of us go through similar things, but a lot of people think they're alone in their rejections or their no's or their hardship.

Speaker 1 And it's one of the most beautiful, powerful reasons why I'm so happy you wrote this book, Raising Brows, because people are going to connect through your story.

Speaker 1 And one of the many things we have in common is

Speaker 1 both of us have had our lives completely changed by Oprah. You say

Speaker 1 that early on when you would watch her show, right, you had immigrated to this country, you were learning English, watching her show, and you say, if she could find her way, so can I.

Speaker 1 And what I love so much about your book is there are going to be so many people that pick up raising brows and they're going to go, wow, okay,

Speaker 1 if Anastasia can figure this out, I can figure my thing out. If she can do this, I can figure out how to do this.
And so I just want to ask you, for the person listening

Speaker 1 who is going, oh, wait, okay, maybe this book, Raising Brows, Anastasia Story is for me, what would you say to them that

Speaker 1 they're going to get out of this book when they get it home?

Speaker 2 I believe that they should get that power where they will think that the days they will feel like I can't do this anymore, they want to give up. If Anastasia was able to do it, I could do it too.

Speaker 2 I mean, everyone else has

Speaker 2 much more than what I had when I came. Yeah.
So I didn't speak the language, I didn't know anyone, I didn't have money.

Speaker 2 I mean,

Speaker 2 no, no, you know, every single box was with no, no, no.

Speaker 2 And I still didn't give up. I started and I did it.
And if I was able to do it, everybody else would be able to do it. Just they need to believe in themselves.
That's it. I think that's the key.

Speaker 2 You need to believe in yourself. You need to believe in your dream.
You need to believe that it's something there for you, but you need to take action.

Speaker 2 Don't look for the perfect plan, the business plan. Don't look for the perfect scenario.
You know, just start doing, and everything will roll, I think.

Speaker 2 Didn't you notice, at least I noticed, and when I started working and doing the eyebrows, everything happened.

Speaker 2 I never thought when I started doing eyebrows that I'm going to build a cosmetic company, but it rolled. Once you take the action and you start doing things,

Speaker 2 it will happen at the end of the day.

Speaker 1 You know what I'm thinking about as well that I just want to say is: I personally, I feel stronger right now just from having this conversation with you. I do.
Like, I literally feel stronger.

Speaker 1 And that was making me so excited for everyone who's listening to this or part of this. And, you know,

Speaker 1 I know you know Nadia Komenic, famous Romanian gymnast. And

Speaker 1 there's a movie,

Speaker 1 the movie called Nadia, which is like based on her life.

Speaker 1 And there is a quote in that movie that I love so much. I put it in my book.

Speaker 1 I just, I love the quote, but the quote

Speaker 1 reminds me of you. And it's when Bella Caroli, the coach,

Speaker 1 you know, Bella, was looking for a gymnast. And in the movie, he is on, he's going to a school looking for a potential gymnast.
And he's in the schoolyard and then in the classroom.

Speaker 1 And he goes up to Nadia, who he meets for the first time, and he says, Do you believe that little girls can fly?

Speaker 1 And I just remember, and she like nodded. And I just remember the first time I ever saw that.
And I'm like, I believe girls can fly. Like, I like what that meant to me.

Speaker 1 And when I think of you, I think of both of our stories, actually, I think of that quote. Like,

Speaker 1 I just see you. And I just, I want to say that it is an honor to watch you fly and to watch you help so many other women spread their wings and fly to new heights.
And I'm just grateful to know you.

Speaker 2 Thank you so much, Jamie.

Speaker 2 And I really, really believe that every single person that is listening could fly and could do whatever they want to do,

Speaker 2 whatever they put their mind into. Just they need to believe that they could do that.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Because I believe it. Yes.
They should believe in themselves. Yeah.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 And one of the tools to do that is is to get your hands on Anastasia's brand new book, Raising Brows, My Story of Building a Billion Dollar Beauty Empire. It is out now.
