Day 224: Intentions to the Father
Fr. Mark-Mary enriches our time of prayer by inviting us to practice intercessory prayer, where we can bring before the Lord all that weighs on our hearts and minds. He invites us to imagine offering our intentions to God the Father, trusting that He sees, receives, and responds with love. With confidence in His goodness and power, let us entrust every intention to Him. Todayβs focus is the mysteries of the Agony in the Garden and the Scourging at the Pillar and we will be praying two decades of the Rosary.

today we'll be praying with the first two sorrowful mysteries the agony in the garden and the scourging at the pillar
for this next set of focus prayer another five days what we'll practice is praying with intentions
it's a common form of prayer is that people come to the rosary and they bring particular intentions.
They may offer up their rosary for one intention or different decades for different intentions.
And so, let's just go ahead.
What I'd like to do is just kind of have a moment to kind of explore this with the Lord in a way which can be hopefully most efficacious and fruitful for our own prayer, our own hope, and for those we're praying for.
And so, what we're going to do is we're going to kind of go back to praying with the different persons: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, or the Most Holy Trinity, the Trinity itself, and then praying with Our Lady.
What we're going to do is we're going to bring to each of the decades a different situation or person apart from us, so separate from us.
And kind of the image I have is a little bit of like a parent taking a child to the doctor, where the parent like presents the child, fully aware of the doctor, fully aware of the child being offered, and their kind of heart is invested in it.
And so, for example, today we'll be praying with the father.
And when you have these intentions, these people in your life, these situations, what I want you to really experience is the Father, God the Father seen this person.
And to bring this to the truth of what we know of the Father, of a good Father, of a loving Father, all-powerful Father,
a Father who hears us, who always hears us, who sees us.
And so to bring the situation or this person to God the Father, experience.
him seen
this person or situation.
And hopefully as well in this this exchange, the communication of hope and confidence that the Father is already responding.
He's already at work for the good in whatever the situation is.
And so, I'll ask you to go ahead and take a moment to call to mind your intention
and then to bring it
to our Heavenly Fathers.
We pray in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
The first starful mystery is the agony in the garden.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
So we can go ahead and think of another intention.
Bring it to our Heavenly Father.
Know that he hears you, he always hears you.
And that he is a good Father, that he is an all-powerful Father.
And that he is already at work for the good.
The second sorrowful mystery is the scourging at the pillar.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
