Day 343: The Sorrowful Mysteries
Immersing ourselves in the Sorrowful Mysteries, Fr. Mark-Mary directs us to ponder Jesus’s final moments on earth. We see through Jesus’s eyes in the Agony in the Garden as He suffers yet continues to trust the Father. We look through Mary’s perspective during the Scourging at the Pillar, entering into her sorrow and offering our own suffering alongside hers. In the Crowning with Thorns, Jesus endures mockery and pain while reminding us of our unshakeable identity as beloved sons and daughters of the Father. As He carries His Cross, Jesus feels the weight of our sins yet reveals a hope that perseveres. And at the Crucifixion, even in His final breath, Jesus is forgiving us from the cross. Today’s focus is the Sorrowful Mysteries, and we’ll be praying the full Rosary.

Today we will be praying the sorrowful mysteries.
Let us begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to hell. On the third day, he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
For our Holy Father, His health and intentions, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
for an increase in the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
The first sorrowful mystery is the agony in the garden.
As we contemplate Jesus in the last moments before his arrest here in the agony in the garden,
he's praying to the Father
and he's interceding for the apostles and really for all of us.
Prayer, right, even in the face of great suffering, even in the face of death, is this movement of trust in the Son when he encounters suffering and difficulty.
This trust of Jesus can inspire us to also always bring our suffering to the Father
so that we can carry all of our sufferings like Jesus did,
like the beloved Son.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The second sorrowful mystery is the scourging at the pillar.
Let's meditate on our Lord's scourging through the eyes of Mary.
Here, as her son is scourged, is beaten, we see the fulfillment of Simeon's prophecy
that at the suffering of her son, a sword would pierce her own heart.
As we contemplate this mystery through Mary's eyes and
also contemplating
Mary's eyes
as she beholds her beloved son suffering so much,
may our hearts be open to experiencing
her own sorrow and a deeper contrition and sorrow for the cause of this suffering, our own sin and that of the whole world.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The third sorrowful mystery is the crowning with thorns.
As we hear Jesus mocked, as he's crowned with thorns, we can be reminded of our own experiences with sin, right? The devil attacks us, mocks us, trying to undercut and deny our dignity
and even suggest that we are too sinful for God's love. We're not enough for his love.
Meditating on the crowning with thorns can be a source of hope for us.
Jesus endured not only the crowning, but these attacks on his dignity and his identity, giving us an example to help us stand firm and to reject Satan's lies
and through the grace of the Holy Spirit remain rooted in our dignity and our identity as beloved sons and daughters of the best of fathers.
Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The fourth sorrowful mystery is the carrying of the cross.
We behold Jesus embracing his cross,
not just for one or two or ten steps,
but for the entirety of the journey. It's not a short, quick yes, but an enduring and persevering yes.
Jesus shows us the model, the example of patience, of perseverance,
of long suffering.
He freely receives what life
has given him to save us
as we are given crosses that are heavy and burdensome and that we can't just throw away, we can't just free ourselves of.
May we look at Jesus, may we beg for his help and his assistance, and may we be encouraged in our daily yes, in our daily perseverance, by the endurance and the long suffering we encounter in Jesus carrying the cross.
Amen.

The fifth sorrowful mysteries the crucifixion.
In the midst of the most tragic of circumstances, Jesus' crucifixion and death, what does he say?
Jesus prays for all of us,
asking the Father to forgive us,
even
making an excuse for us. Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.
As we pray, let us hold before us these beautiful words.
Jesus' incredible love
to ask for forgiveness for the people
who have harmed him and hurt him so.
Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile. Show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, most holy mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray.
O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life.
Grant, we beseech thee that meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise.
Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Thanks everyone for joining me and praying with me today. I look forward to continuing this journey with you again tomorrow.
Po, po, poco, friends.
God bless y'all.
