Speaker 1 Introducing Beth Stead, a new kind of true crime podcast. Parasocial relationships are seemingly unavoidable these days, whether with our favorite YouTubers, influencers, or podcasters.
Speaker 1 And sometimes those relationships can become a two-way street. Beth Stead is a 10-episode limited series exploring what happened to two podcasters when that all went terribly wrong.
Speaker 1 I'm Monica Padman, co-host and producer of the Armchair Expert podcast.
Speaker 1 If you listen to Armchair, you've probably heard me talk about my favorite podcasters, Elizabeth and Andy from Nobody's Listening, right?
Speaker 1 Elizabeth and Andy are my go-to comfort podcasters, and they've been a constant in my ears since 2010. So it was really upsetting when in 2016, they just all of a sudden stopped podcasting.
Speaker 1 It was so abrupt and I always wondered what happened. And when I finally had the chance to ask them about it in person, I was shocked.
Speaker 1 It's a crazy story. It involves Elizabeth and Andy having their locks changed, the LAPD stepping in, and the death of a listener.
Speaker 1 When we started this project, our goal was to tell that story, but it ended up taking us on a new path we never could have imagined. Here's a quick glimpse of what's to come on Beth's dead.

Speaker 1 I went through my notes this morning and I was getting teary-eyed how upsetting it was.
Speaker 1 Revisiting this has made me uneasy and then I'm like, if I'm going to find out a bunch of bad shit, is it going to make me feel more uneased?
Speaker 1 This feels dangerous. I wished I hadn't gotten involved beyond just the podcast.
