Welcome to the Entrepreneur DNA podcast. I have a very, very, very special guest, someone that has made thousands of people happier with a big, big, big mission that he is on.
Mr. David Meltzer is in the house.
What's up, brother? Hey, Justin, thanks for having me. I'm super excited.
Any opportunity I get, not only to see you and share time with you, but to be able to access the community that you've built of people that want to help each other and know people that can help each other, which provides, you know, just a key community of abundance. That's the way I see it.
And just an honor to be here. Thank you.
Oh man, I'm, I'm honored to have you brother. You've made such an impact on so many, so many people.
So if you are watching this right now on YouTube, stay on here. This is going to be really impactful.
If you're listening, download it. I mean, this guy is someone you need to know more about.
He is on a massive mission to make you, to make me, to make everyone happy. And he has a book that we will tell you all about here very shortly.
Make sure you get that. Now there's something you said really quickly in your intro, community.
I have been really kind of screaming from the mountaintops about people, people, people. And another way of saying that is your community.
Let's dive into that. What does community mean to you? What is the importance of community to you? It's everything to me.
And understanding a little bit older, as I suggested before, the access to community, I don't think people understand the opportunity and the blessing that we've been given the size scope and scale of the accessible community of a total addressable community via all the different platforms that exist today in person on the phone via email and importantly social media and the social silos that exist at a frequency to me is so exciting is so exciting. And so many people don't take advantage of it.
There's about 7.6 billion people. Uh, and I think some of the people, uh, have over, uh, or underestimated the power of community.
I mean, I do a video in my team who's a little bit younger. They'll get upset.
Oh my gosh, only 42,000 people watch that video. And, you know, I would drive, I'm in Orange County right now, but I drive down to San Diego tonight.
If the Padres called me and said, Hey bro, I'll give you 10 minutes or even two minutes on the, on the mound to give your most inspirational ideas for two minutes to the entire crowd at Betco. You know, I would drive all the way to San Diego to do that.
But yet, for some reason, people don't realize community and the power and scope and size and scale of community. And the reason it's so important, Justin, is I have learned this in my journey, which is if you can build a community of people like you have, of people who have a like frequency, a vibration that are there to help one another and know people that can help one another, I will tell you what happens in your life.
For a lifetime, you have people who buy from each other and sell for each other. And nothing, you know, at least in my mission and my expertise of making a lot of money to help a lot of people and have a lot of fun, nothing will help you more than having a bunch of people who buy from each other and sell for each other to make everybody successful and meet my mission of empowerment, of abundance, of more than enough of everything for everyone.
It's in, you're obviously kind of the, the cream of the crop, right? But I, I joined masterminds. I'm a part of these groups at a very, very high level to, to the point of your team.
You invited me to spend the night in Atlanta or in Georgia for the masters and go to dinner. You just invited me to another dinner.
That is powerful, right? To I'm at a level now where the David Melters of the world consider me to be a part of your circle and I'm honored to be a part of your circle, my friend. So thank you.
But I think people need to hear that is you need to build a community and you get around community because to your point, that community will buy from you. That community will sell for you.
And your mission is all about make a whole lot of money, have fun while doing it, and help a whole lot of other people. But the key word there is people.
And people overlook that. No doubt.
And I think a lot of it too is there's an old saying by Napoleon Hill and several others along the way that you're the aggregate of the five people that you surround yourself both with. And that word people, when we surround ourselves, I've taken it to a different level because I believe that we have to look at the people we hang out with according to topics, subject matters, expertise or relativity, association, and look within the context of, hey, is this a group or a community of people that I need to be the point guard of? You know, I'm a dad.
I need to be the point guard of my family. But I still, as you are coming to be a six man on my team, I go around some other world thought leaders, you know, the Sanjay Nduja as a chairman of golf oil or, or Kishore Lula at Eros entertainment in India, you know, the S the six most wealthy man in the world and people like that.
Well, I'm just honored to be the six man, uh, just the same as you may feel the same way about, uh, some of the things that we're doing today. And so I think it's a good, to have that it's okay to be the point guard on some teams, but it's also okay to be the six man in support and learn.
That's the only way you become a better point guard yourself. Man, it's so much value.
Everyone needs to rewind that and listen to that again, because everyone wants to be the point guard, right? I want to go be the point guard, but they don't humble themselves enough to realize to get there, you might have to be the sixth man off the bench, seventh man off the bench to get there because your time will come. Talk about a subject that's near and dear to my heart, money.
Okay. You know, I've been criticized for being too money hungry or too capitalistic about money and making businesses, but that is the first sentence on your vision and mission is make a lot of money.
Talk to me about that because I think there's a lot of criticism. At least I get being too money hungry.
Yeah. Let me help you out there because I'm with you brother.
And I love, uh, your idea of abundance and empowerment in understanding giving. And I'll explain it to you because I've done so much research, religious research, philosophical, theoretical, scientific about giving.
And this is what I've learned. And hopefully it'll help you as well.
Dissipate some of the attacks that people have when you put out there, you know, make a money first then help a lot of people and have a lot of fun in fact I sponsored my kids high school and no wonder they're always looking for money because they wouldn't put my slogan up on the scoreboard even though I gave them a ton of money and they switched it around they said no you got to say help a lot of people have a lot of make a little money. And I said, that's not going to get you there.
Let me explain why. And here,
here's what I've learned and hopefully it'll help everyone. One, all religions, philosophies,
theories, spirituality, and even science, it doesn't say the more you give, the more you'll
receive, even though that's true. But what it says is the more you give, the more you're given.
And that's a big difference because if the more we give, the more we're given, then we need to one, be aware of all we're given through gratitude and forgiveness and accountability. But two, you have to be worthy of receiving it.
And then three, you have to also be confident, comfortable, and faithful that there's more than enough. Therefore you'll ask for more.
And so here, here's the math. Most people that believe the more you give, the more you receive.
And this falls into like teachers, moms, first responders, our veterans, the most giving kind people in our country that, that make it what it is they give, and then they feel guilty or they're not looking to be given. So they give a hundred percent and then they get like, well, you don't have to give me all that back.
You know, why give me 120% back when I gave a hundred,
I'll only take 98%.
Well,
what they don't realize is they get into a zero sum game that if you keep
giving a hundred percent of what you have and only taking 98%,
you end up at zero.
And so I teach people and you do too,
that here's what we do.
Give everything you have, but be aware of what you're given and be worthy of receiving it all. And then ask for more on top of that, because this is the math.
Instead of a zero-sum game, I give more. I'm given more.
I receive more. I ask for more than more.
Now I give more than more. I'm given more than more.
I receive more than more. Now I ask for more than more than more give more than more i'm given more than more i receive more
than more now i ask for more than more than more you see where i'm gonna end up when i'm 80 i'm not gonna end up with nothing i'm gonna end up like warren buffett and all of these other guys that have more than enough of everything for everyone and change the world by giving it all the way at the end of their lives and then they truly will receive more.
Mm.
God, man, that is hot. People really need to understand what you are saying here.
Because another thing that you just said that I think people mentally have a hard time for is asking. Oh, yeah.
They have a very hard time for asking, right? And I'm in this space. You're in this space.
We are here to give. I give to thousands of people, specifically in the real estate and entrepreneur space.
You give to that many more and have for years. I find all the time they have the hardest time asking for what they want.
And my guess, and tell me if you agree, is because I don't think they're ready to receive it. I think they have a hard time saying yes to actually receiving the thing that they want.
And that stems from two things. Either they don't have faith that there's more than enough or they aren't ready to receive it.
And so they won't ask because they actually haven't had the capability in order to effectuate what they're going to utilize it for. They think they want it, but they're afraid to get it because they don't know what to do with it if they actually got it, or they don't believe there's more than enough, so they feel bad.
Oh, well, you know, there's some kind of give or take, a quid pro quo. If I ask for it, I'll be hurting that person, and I don't want to hurt anyone because I'm an abundant, you know, very, very giving, kind person.
And I see a lot of that with the teachers and first responders and veterans. And, you know, they're so kind, it's almost within their construct that they don't believe it helps someone, which is ironic because, you know, when these people help people, that's when they feel their highest self.
And they're denying the opportunity to other people to live to their higher self because they're not asking them for help. And I think, and I preach this actually, I don't just teach it.
You know, people ask me, what's the number one piece of advice you would give yourself when you're 18? It's the same advice I give at 56. Ask for help.
It's the fastest and easiest way to get to where you want to be. And you're making everybody wins.
In fact, God even gives us a doggy biscuit in the context of giving, receiving, and witnessing that think about this. When you give, you get dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, endorphins.
It's a doggy biscuit for you. Makes you feel good.
When you receive the same thing, another doggy biscuit. And all those people that witness giving and receiving, they get a doggy biscuit too.
If you don't give, if you don't receive, or you don't witness giving and receiving, if you're in scarcity, you know what you get? Cortisol, which creates inflammation and interference with your higher self. So at a biochemical level, God is rewarding you with good behavior.
You're programmed to give, receive, and ask for more. Talk to them, Dave.
Let them know, David. Come on.
This is hot stuff right here. Listen, your mantra really has three components, money, people, and fun.
and talk to us about the fun part because i have my own philosophy of how i connect those three right um what do you mean by that make a lot of money you know make people happy and have fun while doing it right help a lot of people i have my definition of happiness which is to enjoy enjoy. Think about that word, the consistent every day, persistent without quit pursuit of your potential.
You see, there's a huge energy gap in happiness right now between I am my potential and what I want other people to think I am. And this energy gap will limit your potential.
It will limit your self-image and you'll never overachieve your own self-image. And what I want people to think about is what they want.
You see, it's so interesting because there's an old saying, Bob Parsons taught me this, you know, if you love what you do, you'll never work a day and day. And that's, it's just not true.
It's if you learn to love what you're doing, you find the light, the love and the lessons of what you're doing. If you can learn to love what you don't like, and you can learn to love what other people don't like, or you can learn to love what you don't love or other people don't love.
You know what life does? And you do it consistently, persistently without quit. It tells you all its secrets.
You get the teacher's guide, you get the cheat codes. Life becomes easy, not dis-easy.
And we need to enjoy the process, the systems, not the outcome. We need to enjoy what we don't necessarily naturally enjoy.
And when you can do that, I am completely convinced that you will be happy. And it takes the gratitude to find the light, the love and the lessons, forgiveness for all the mistakes you're going to make pursuing the light, the love and the lessons.
And it takes inspiration to apply your why to where you want to be or better. And you got to ask for help in order to get there.
You've had an illustrious life, incredible family man, all sorts of resume points I can bring up. How many tough lessons have you learned through that journey? I figure eight times a day on average, I've learned lessons and some of them have been extremely tough.
And I'll give you some of them. Abused as a nine-year-old by my oldest stepbrother, sexually abused.
I lost my brother when I was in law school. I almost got kicked out of law school because my dad stole
money from me and ruined my credit I made over a hundred million dollars and went bankrupt but worse I bought my own bullshit and I was using and abusing alcohol and drugs living an empty life and almost lost my wife and almost lost my life.
And I have been in that pursuit for 17 years now for my potential. And it took, you know, the harder you fall, the higher you can bounce if you have the right mindset, heart set, and handset, if you understand how to do this.
So, um, you know, varying in degrees of, uh, severity. I always say I got kicked in the face eight times a day for my entire life.
Let me just tell you how I changed it instead of trying to stop it. Instead of trying to get over and under it, through it and around it, instead of lying to it, manipulating, cheating it and denying it and resisting it, I go ahead and figure out what I'm doing to interfere with what I already am.
So instead of getting more happy, more healthy, more wealthy, and more worthy, I know I am. Because I am protected, promoted, and loved by an omniscient, all-powerful source.
You label it however you want.'s bigger than me and loves me more than my mom. And so for me, I am happy already.
I am healthy. I am wealthy.
I am worthy. I just got to figure out what I'm doing to interfere with it because there's a unified, abundant, infinite system of thought for more than enough of everything for everyone.
You got to stop interfering. I'm 56 years old.
Most people can't keep up with me. They can't, they can't believe how much I do in a day with so much positive energy.
And they'll say, how do you do that? I said, you got the same energy I have. I've just figured out to spend minutes and moments with the need to be angry, upset, anxious, frustrated, worried, guilty, offended, separate, inferior, superior, all these things I used to waste my life on that was accelerating me in the wrong direction.
I now spend minutes and moments when I get kicked in the face, it's just minutes and moments. And so therefore the majority of my 24 hours a day are accelerating, aggregating and compounding towards where I want to be or better.
And it takes wisdom and faith to keep on getting there. So again, you use another key word I like to trigger wisdom that only comes through experience, right? And so many listeners here at the entrepreneur DNA are entrepreneurs themselves.
Maybe they're fledgling, maybe they're more experienced and have a larger resume like myself or even larger like yourself. But think all of them have to understand regardless where you're at you're gonna continue to get kicked in the face to your analogy that doesn't stop and I think it's incredible that you're helping other entrepreneurs other people learn to find happiness while that is happening yeah it's hard to be happy when you get kicked in the face or realize that, you know, one of the secret sauces that I've learned is so many people pursue, what am I afraid of? You know, they're on this journey and I've been to therapy and I, I, you know, still pursue, you know, the traumas of, you know, the genetic and energetic inheritance of the childhood traumas and all that.
Um, but that doesn't help me every day get to where I want to be. You know what does help me? Is knowing fear is omnipresent.
And so, you know what's really easy to identify? Not what I'm afraid of, because that's some psychotherapy bullshit that costs a lot of money to figure that out. You know what's easy to figure out? How do I react to fear? Because that's instant and obvious.
Like if I'm pissed off or I'm anxious or worried or if I'm offended, I know instantly. I don't have to go to psychotherapy to know I'm pissed, right? And so mathematically for me, when I get pissed off, I don't explore why I'm afraid and projecting my insecure.
I'll pursue that in the long run. But when I'm pissed, my whole objective is to identify the clues and patterns and make better choices.
In other words, just spend minutes and moments being pissed. So instead of resisting it, going over and under and through it, I just stop, breathe, remind myself, remember and recollect with the great source that loves me.
And then I roll back into the right trajectory, the divine direction in the divine time. And I stopped trying to control something I can't control or seek something that I too stupid to figure out.
Because I tell you this, human beings are not capable of understanding or knowing outcomes. So stop getting pissed off or worrying about outcomes because you need to know that divine time will allow you to understand those outcomes.
There's no way that you would know that losing over $100 million and going bankrupt would somehow put you in a better place, a better position for the rest of your life. There's no way you can understand how losing your job or someone cheating on you or, you know, a car accident or a disease is helping you get to where you want to be.
Humans aren't capable of knowing those outcomes. So stop trying, just understand how you're reacting to fear and shorten the amount of time that you interfere with where you want to be or better and then have faith that divine time and divine direction will take care of the rest.
