Speaker 8 I'd come a long way since we first set foot in Gold Sparrow.
Speaker 2 If you'd told me before all this started, I'd be fighting, hell, even believing in, demons, I'd have laughed in your face.
Speaker 2 But here I am, about to go toe to toe with one. Fangs, horns, the whole damn package.
Speaker 2 Don't even blink if the bastard showed up holding a pitchfork. Everything I once believed in, everything I took for granted, is turned upside down.
Speaker 2 The only thing that stayed the same, despite this place doing its best to convince me otherwise,
Speaker 2 I'm still standing on the right side of the line.
Speaker 2 And if it comes down to it,
Speaker 2 that's where I'll die.
Speaker 2 And that's when the thing fell right through the fucking floor.
Speaker 2 So the church has known about these creatures all this time?
Speaker 2 Considering the age of some of the accounts I've read, I'd say going back as far as its founding. Then why the fuck aren't their asses helping us?
Speaker 2
That's still a mystery. I wonder if they know what happened here in Cold Sparrow.
All those people, even children, damned.
Speaker 2 Also, monsters could walk the earth again. From what you told me, Mercy Sparrows said the ritual they used was pre-flood, when the damned flourished in far greater numbers.
Speaker 2 That they could use it at home means they've achieved a presence sufficient to invoke even greater infernal power
Speaker 4 The fact that they used a separate more reliable ritual for Ben seems to suggest that right they used on Cold Sparrow was more on the experimental side.
Speaker 4 I'd be curious to know if it went off without a hitch or there were complications
Speaker 2 From the model of the city Ben discovered in the apartment building it looks like they were measuring the process very carefully.
Speaker 2 I wish the church had given us more information about the the rituals these creatures use.
Speaker 6 Oh, to hell with the church. What I want to know is, where's that so-called benevolent being in the sky that's been looking out for you guys all this time? We could have used a little help.
Speaker 6 Christ, we've been fighting tooth and nail just to stay afloat.
Speaker 4 Not all of us stayed afloat.
Speaker 6 Sorry, Pat.
Speaker 2 I didn't.
Speaker 4 It's it's fine.
Speaker 4 A world with a god that selectively gives a shit isn't much much different than a godless world that operates on chance.
Speaker 4 And a church that withholds help for no good reason isn't exactly surprising either.
Speaker 2 Can't say I disagree with any of that. This god thing sure as fuck didn't throw Bill any deference, that's for damn sure.
Speaker 2 Well,
Speaker 2 with or without help, we know what we gotta do.
Speaker 2 I wonder if this creature, Edgar, has any idea that we'd dare come for him.
Speaker 6 I'm pretty sure he'll be ready.
Speaker 2 Why is that?
Speaker 6 Well, from what I've read, he got himself torched by a mob of villagers out for payback. Revenge for what they believe he and the rest of the Sparrows did to their town Isabel.
Speaker 6 I get the feeling this all hits a little too close to home for him to just ignore.
Speaker 2 He may expect us to look him up, but he's got no idea we know about his other weakness.
Speaker 2 That he can be killed the same way he checked out the first time.
Speaker 2 Well, the truck was all gassed up when we lifted her, so we've got plenty of fuel to light his ass up for good.
Speaker 4 Well, there's still a little matter of finding him and in time.
Speaker 4 We can't risk anything at night.
Speaker 2
Besides, I can find the cottage. Abigail is sorely wounded.
She's neither strong enough to hide from my ability, nor powerful enough to exert any influence over my health.
Speaker 2 But if she does survive into the night,
Speaker 2
it's highly likely I won't. The chime didn't do us much good while we were on the road here.
Any chance it'll have any effect on the Sparrows? The Congress of the Damned was likely the cause of that.
Speaker 2 But what do you think, Miss Ingersoll?
Speaker 1 Agreed.
Speaker 4 The chime, as it was projected from your phones, simply wasn't strong enough to overcome the collective presence of the damned.
Speaker 4 However, it should work just fine now, since most of them took off and the hellmouth is closed.
Speaker 2 The phones are pretty low on battery, but we can keep them off until we reach the cottage. Is there anything left in the book about the black cottage we could use?
Speaker 6 I was lucky enough to fish it out of the debris. All that's left are little excerpts from the group leader's journal, a guy by the name of Samuel Walker.
Speaker 6
He recorded their journey through the Pitch Pot woods, but not much beyond that. Nothing that would be useful to us, anyway.
Though I can look through it while we walk, just to make sure.
Speaker 2 Well, I guess that's that then.
Speaker 2 We got the lantern, the torches, the water, and the soaked weapons.
Speaker 2 Let's go.
Speaker 6
The sky was bright and the wind did blow. The honeyed perfume of a thousand blossoms hung upon the air like a dream half divine.
Yet this too was but another of the devil's
Speaker 2 devil's
Speaker 2 sinner's grave.
Speaker 2 The worms beneath which heemed the worms of corruption and yawned the very gate of hell.
Speaker 2 In the breast of every man who followed me there dwelt both a sprig of fire and a splinter of ice. T'was my charge to quicken the fire, to thaw the ice that would freeze a man's courage to his veins.
Speaker 2 Edgar was the last of the witches who had brought death upon our loved ones. And only fire could restore the balance.
Speaker 2 Only fire could grant us vengeance.
Speaker 2
He's that way. I can feel him.
Like a tumorous lump beneath my skin. What about the others? Can you still feel them? The sparrows?
Speaker 2 She's there.
Speaker 2 Abigail.
Speaker 2 Burned and cursing.
Speaker 2 Hundreds of years have come and gone beneath that awful gaze of hers, and she's barely suffered a scratch all that time.
Speaker 2 Until now. And there's Elijah, too.
Speaker 2 I can feel his fear.
Speaker 2 He's only known such fear once before.
Speaker 2 When he was tied to a soaked wooden stake. And mercy.
Speaker 2
She's just a spark. Either she's better at concealing herself, or she's too weak to register as a presence.
You okay, Phil?
Speaker 2 I haven't been okay for some time, Mason. But that's not going to stop me today.
Speaker 2 Let's keep going.
Speaker 2 We trod through the woods, the shadows of crooked trees lying cold and heavy upon our flesh, and heavier yet upon our souls.
Speaker 2 Each among us knew well the power of the Spirits, their pacts with devils and familiars, their kinship with the dread company of the night.
Speaker 2 And we knew well, too, that none other than Edgar was master of them all, the horned stag who claimed the forest shadows as his own dominion. Yet on this day, we must be more than Edgar.
Speaker 2 Aye, more than the monsters of the pit. We must be men of God,
Speaker 2 sent forth by his fiery edict to cast wickedness back into perdition, whence all evil springs, as from the blackest and most accursed garden.
Speaker 2 As we pressed on, the birds, the sparrows, who were wont to do the will of the sparrow witches, hovered above, singing curses as we passed.
Speaker 2 It seemed to me and to the others that some of those blighted voices spoke in the tones of our departed loved ones, reproving us for seeking vengeance in their names.
Speaker 2 But having come so far as we had, we lent no ear to the devil's tricks, nor to the deceits of the air.
Speaker 2 We went on, our hearts steeled and our faith set like iron.
Speaker 4 You see that up there? Something lying in the grass.
Speaker 2 It's a person!
Speaker 2 Back away! It's Mercy Sparrow!
Speaker 6 Looks like she didn't make it back to the cottage.
Speaker 2 She's alive?
Speaker 2 Get the
Speaker 2 way from me,
Speaker 2 you flies of Carrion.
Speaker 2 Tis ye who laid me low.
Speaker 2 Mine time spent below,
Speaker 2 being reborn.
Speaker 2 All for not
Speaker 4 You're just the beginning, and you haven't gotten a fraction of what you deserve, you pile of filth.
Speaker 2 But you shall.
Speaker 2 I know as well as the name of every beast of the wood.
Speaker 2 Ye all suits thy doom this day,
Speaker 2 and ye shall find it
Speaker 2 Zazo you fucking
Speaker 6 cool it mace you shut our last chance at Intel
Speaker 2 indeed Mace
Speaker 2 spare me your oh so terrible rage
Speaker 2 Only allow me to weave a tale that will tell for true all he desires to know.
Speaker 2 What be thy pleasure?
Speaker 2 A poultice of healing?
Speaker 2 A twitching herb for the curing of consumption?
Speaker 2 A hex for a wife who loves thee not?
Speaker 2 Who warms her bed with another man's passions?
Speaker 2 I'll show you a hex.
Speaker 6 Mace, enough already.
Speaker 2 Tell us of the one who raised you up, Edgar Standish.
Speaker 2 Thy knowledge is too small to be much improved by such tales.
Speaker 2 What could be improved, Mercy, is the way you choose to meet your end. We could pull you out of the shadow of that big oak tree and lay you out in the sun.
Speaker 2 The noonday sun.
Speaker 2 Would you enjoy that?
Speaker 2 I perceive that Abigail hath laid a most grievous shadow upon that heart, once so tender,
Speaker 2 Phyllis.
Speaker 2 I wonder.
Speaker 2 I wonder if he can hear it now.
Speaker 2 Hear what?
Speaker 2 Come closer,
Speaker 2 and I shall whisper it to thee.
Speaker 2 So thine friends know not the better.
Speaker 6 Phil, what are you doing? Get back.
Speaker 2 She's powerless now. Here I am, demon.
Speaker 2
Do you think you frighten me any longer? You only disgust me. Now whisper to me.
What do you think I can hear?
Speaker 2 You fool me not, old woman.
Speaker 2 When sang that awful chime,
Speaker 2 ye heard it too
Speaker 2 heard it
Speaker 2 and cursed it
Speaker 2 just
Speaker 2 like
Speaker 2 a sparrow
Speaker 2 if that were true then it's even more reason for you to talk
Speaker 2 now tell us about Edgar
Speaker 2 I'll tell ye then
Speaker 2 tell ye of the deep damned who reached up from hell and put a shadow upon the world that darkened the hearts of men forever after.
Speaker 2 For tis true that with each one of us who doth ascend, the shadows thicken burner.
Speaker 2 The dark lingers past the dawn a little longer.
Speaker 2 But when Edgar was raised, marked like few others since the blood,
Speaker 2 the sky itself heaved and bowed beneath his share of hell.
Speaker 2 What he brought up with him,
Speaker 2 blackening hearts and souls, and minds as far as the seas roil and tumble.
Speaker 2 We know this already. Tell us how to defeat him.
Speaker 2 Dost thou think I would share such a secret?
Speaker 2 Even if there be such wisdom?
Speaker 2 Betray the hand that raised me?
Speaker 2 And defy the one who raised him?
Speaker 2 There is no dand that walks above the pit bold enough for such a blasphemy.
Speaker 2 Perhaps there's some insight to be gained in knowing who raised up that dread uncle of yours.
Speaker 2 Why, I'd be joyful to tell ye.
Speaker 2 For if thy wish
Speaker 2 is to seek out the very son of Shin himself,
Speaker 2 ye being more foolish than I thought.
Speaker 4 The son son of sin?
Speaker 2 You may know him by another name.
Speaker 2 The gentleman from hell.
Speaker 2 You mean to tell us that the very first damned was the one who lifted Edgar from hell?
Speaker 2 And now at last,
Speaker 2 ye see the madness of thy quest.
Speaker 2 One of such power that only the sun himself will raise him
Speaker 2 and he thinks
Speaker 2 to destroy him
Speaker 6 I think you're giving the guy too much credit. We just smoked hyena boy his nephew Doesn't sound like the family's as tough as they think.
Speaker 2 So
Speaker 6 if you don't mind, we'll just keep trimming the family tree.
Speaker 6 The sunshine be damned.
Speaker 2 I'll not be slain prone upon the dirt.
Speaker 2 I'll claim at least one of ye before the sun strikes.
Speaker 6 Come on, we're wasting daylight.
Speaker 2 The sun was directly above our heads when finally we came upon the cottage of the man we had come to kill.
Speaker 2 It was a simple thing, squatting low and humble within the meadow grass, which, beneath the blowing wind, rippled like the stumbling waves of the sea.
Speaker 2 There was naught else to be seen, save but a small stand of wood and an axe for chopping it. When we drew close enough to the place, the sound of the sliding bolt told us that Edgar was inside.
Speaker 2 He made the mistake of thinking we'd come to take him from his home.
Speaker 2 We did not.
Speaker 2 We spread out to the four corners of his cottage, and once positioned, I'd loudly condemned the man for the death he'd earned. Edgar neither acknowledged my pronouncement nor suck to flee from it.
Speaker 2 He remained still and silent. Even when the place was fully embraced by the fires we'd lit, no screams came forth.
Speaker 2
When finally the last of the flames had quit its meal, we entered the blackened cottage. It took only a moment to find him.
squatting in the middle of the floor, his posture that of a man at rest,
Speaker 2 if not peace.
Speaker 2 And so passed from this world the last wicked thing to share blood with the demons of the pitch-pop woods.
Speaker 6 According to everything I've been reading, I'd say that's the place. The Black Cottage.
Speaker 2 Sure as hell don't look like much.
Speaker 2
Doesn't seem big enough to house all the sparrows. He's in there, and so are the others.
I'm sure of it. Well, standing here looking at it isn't gonna do us any good.
Speaker 2 Sure isn't.
Speaker 2 Let's go.
Speaker 6 Somehow, I don't think burning the place down around them is gonna do the trick.
Speaker 2 He's below this place.
Speaker 2 Far below.
Speaker 2
All right, you guys. Cover me.
I'm gonna open the door.
Speaker 2 It's clear. Nothing but debris.
Speaker 2 Now would be a good time to light the lantern. I suspect the damned may be able to summon up the mists of Sheol,
Speaker 2 and we certainly don't want to find ourselves lost there.
Speaker 4 We all learned the hard way, but the damned can still use their abilities in daylight, so long as they're within a place steeped in old darkness, especially the deep underground kind.
Speaker 2 Then it's also time we mark ourselves with the stormwater.
Speaker 2 If it worked against the younger sparrows, it should at least afford us some protection against Edgar.
Speaker 2
Demons from hell they may be, but they're lousy at hiding shit. Here's the trapdoor.
I don't imagine they're in the habit of worrying about trespassers. Especially not ones such as Edgar.
Speaker 2 Stone stairs. Kind of narrow going.
Speaker 2 I can't see where they go. Gonna have to do
Speaker 6 Mace. Why don't you take point and I'll hold the center? And Martin, you take cleanup.
Speaker 2 Fine with me.
Speaker 4 I'm not sure what will and won't work down there, so make sure you keep your radios handy just in case we get separated.
Speaker 2 If everybody's ready,
Speaker 2 we should head down.
Speaker 2 I don't believe in being ready anymore,
Speaker 2 but I'm willing.
Speaker 2 Okay,
Speaker 2 here we go.
Speaker 2 The construction of the walls.
Speaker 2 The steps? There's no sign of chisel or hammer. It's...
Speaker 2 It's like the rock naturally occurred this way.
Speaker 4 There's no telling what weird abilities a damn have.
Speaker 4 Who knows? Maybe Edgar just made it that way.
Speaker 2 That just makes us all fools for thinking ourselves a match for him.
Speaker 2 The buddy in the sky should have thought we had a shot, or else he wouldn't have given us the leg up.
Speaker 2 They say there are no atheists in foxholes, but the deeper we go, the less I believe anyone up there is listening.
Speaker 2 I know you can hear me, fellas.
Speaker 2 We are blood sisters now and forever after.
Speaker 2 You can talk to me all you'd like, but we're coming for you all the same.
Speaker 2 We've all changed so much from only mere hours ago, haven't we?
Speaker 2 If you say so, you say so.
Speaker 2 Twas that awful explosion, methinks.
Speaker 2 Well, it pained me terribly.
Speaker 2 It did something far different to thee.
Speaker 2 It made thee mightier still,
Speaker 2 didn't it?
Speaker 2 I suppose we'll find out all too soon, won't we?
Speaker 2 Thou would make a formidable witch indeed, Phyllis Chambers.
Speaker 2 Save, of course, for that little weakness of yours.
Speaker 2 And what would that be, pray tale, pray tale?
Speaker 2 Why,
Speaker 2 we share blood betwixt us.
Speaker 2 Don't you think I don't know how you daughter, though boy?
Speaker 2 Leon,
Speaker 2 the son thou never had,
Speaker 2 and thee being the mother he once had and then lost.
Speaker 2 Be certain, little sister.
Speaker 2 He be the one I'll take from you this day, as ye have taken both my brother and sister from me.
Speaker 2 You're right, Abigail.
Speaker 2 I have changed since the explosion. But unlike you, I've grown stronger for it, while you've been weakened to a whisper of your former self.
Speaker 2 What are you doing?
Speaker 2 You bonded us by blood, witch. You created a one-way mirror through which you could see me, and I would be blind to you.
Speaker 2
But now, the tables have turned against you. It's time for the mirror to become a window, and I will look upon you completely.
But don't worry, Abigail,
Speaker 2 you won't remember a thing.
Speaker 2 No, keep away from me, you wretched creature.
Speaker 2 What are you doing?
Speaker 2 Miss Chambers, can you hear us?
Speaker 2 She's okay. She's coming out, I think.
Speaker 2 Uh,
Speaker 2 I'm uh
Speaker 2 I'm alright. I.
Speaker 2 I think I've just been pushing myself a little too hard.
Speaker 2 I'll only need a moment.
Speaker 6 Take as long as you need, Phil.
Speaker 2 There's a landing down there, and a room just off the main flight of stairs
Speaker 2 Sounds like more of those birds ones that attacked us in Portafoy
Speaker 2 Sparrows trust me we're familiar
Speaker 2 Then we should go and see about them
Speaker 2 you uh sure you're okay
Speaker 2 like I said I only needed a moment
Speaker 2 What the hell is this place?
Speaker 2 And those things.
Speaker 2 My God.
Speaker 2 They're assembled from human limbs, forming the darkest tidalons of Nervithaca.
Speaker 2 This one here, Keel, the lord of the left-handed, say those left arms look to have come from dozens of separate bodies. And here, Kamula, the drink her breath.
Speaker 2 She looks to be made entirely out of black cat parts and mutilated women.
Speaker 2 And this one,
Speaker 2 a giant, rotting sparrow with the head of a woman.
Speaker 2 Know ye not,
Speaker 2 my dearest sister,
Speaker 2 Hester
Speaker 2 Sparrow.
Speaker 2 Everyone, be ready for anything.
Speaker 2 With careful rights and compacts, I did snatch her soul from the ether,
Speaker 2 even as it moved to depart this earthly sphere.
Speaker 2 Her sorrowful soul I crushed into the body of a dead bird, and thereafter filled her with every soul I chanced to steal.
Speaker 2 Till at last
Speaker 2 she became the centerpiece of my gallery of husks.
Speaker 2 The great
Speaker 2 and terrible
Speaker 2 mother
Speaker 2 of smells.
Speaker 6 Jesus Christ, the flock of dead birds
Speaker 6 inside that thing.
Speaker 2 Indeed they are.
Speaker 2 Every one of them, a precious soul I've stolen.
Speaker 2 Some of them you've already met.
Speaker 2 Charlie Prist, his soul seized even as you released it from the machine.
Speaker 2 David Harlan, his spirit scraped from the ruin of his faceless body.
Speaker 2 Albert Whittle,
Speaker 2 his cynical essence torn free from its sticking place.
Speaker 2 But two of them you know better still:
Speaker 2 William Hayes, whose soul I had to wrest from the gallet of a vulture.
Speaker 2 You son of a bitch.
Speaker 2 And lastly,
Speaker 2 poor Margaret Ingersoll,
Speaker 2 whose soul I found dangling
Speaker 2 at the end of a rope.
Speaker 2 No, that's not true. You're lying.
Speaker 2 Am Emma!
Speaker 2 Why not ask her yourself?
Speaker 2 They're everywhere!
Speaker 2 Watch out! The whole damn thing is coming to life!
Speaker 2 Oh, I can't see!
Speaker 4 Turn the chime on!
Speaker 6 And light the fucking torches.
Speaker 2 Look at what my brother has done to me. To my children.
Speaker 2 Please.
Speaker 2 I beg of the
Speaker 2 kill me.
Speaker 2 Stay away, you freak.
Speaker 2 Yes.
Speaker 2 Yes.
Speaker 2 Kill me.
Speaker 2 Release me.
Speaker 2 I think the chime is starting to work. The birds are starting to move back.
Speaker 2 You think your poultry trinkets a match for my power?
Speaker 2 For my kindred.
Speaker 2
Yes, Uncle. We shall slay them all and then dance in their clothes.
Come, Abadi, let us devour them.
Speaker 2 Their pretty little eyes.
Speaker 2 But Lord,
Speaker 2 they were hiding inside that thing all along with those wretched birds
Speaker 2 come again, son, you sick fox!
Speaker 6 You got that right, asshole. Uncle,
Speaker 6 help me!
Speaker 6 No!
Speaker 6 Not the lies, children!
Speaker 6 Use the flash!
Speaker 2 Double standing and burn it down!
Speaker 2 Get away from him, you bitch!
Speaker 2 Yes!
Speaker 2 Let me burn away!
Speaker 2 Cleanse us! All with fire!
Speaker 2 With fire!
Speaker 2 My patience with you has drawn to a clause, dear Phyllis.
Speaker 2 Tis time to reclaim that heart of yours.
Speaker 2 Fuck you, Will.
Speaker 2 Now it's your turn, firm, goddamn man.
Speaker 2 No!
Speaker 2 Save us!
Speaker 2 Save us!
Speaker 2 Sister!
Speaker 2 Fuck you and your sister! It's time to settle up!
Speaker 2 Children,
Speaker 2 let the fire do its good work.
Speaker 2 We belong.
Speaker 2 Dead.
Speaker 2 Leon, Leon, are you alright? Say something.
Speaker 2 Oh,
Speaker 2 uh, I'm okay.
Speaker 6 Although my ribs might disagree.
Speaker 2 Can you stand?
Speaker 2 Yeah.
Speaker 6 Now, let's finish that son of a bitch.
Speaker 2
I know there was a reason we made a good team. The best team.
You bet your ass.
Speaker 4 There's only the stairs leading further down. Can't even see the bottom.
Speaker 2 He's there.
Speaker 2 Waiting for us.
Speaker 2 Let's not keep him waiting.
Speaker 6 How the hell long have we been walking?
Speaker 2 Too fucking long?
Speaker 2 We must be thousands of feet below ground.
Speaker 2 My cell's dead. I hope the storm water's still holding.
Speaker 2 My phone is at 6%,
Speaker 2 which I suppose is better than nothing.
Speaker 2 You're doing better than me. 3%.
Speaker 2 I wonder where that fucker Hughes got to win all this.
Speaker 2
If he was marked and valuable to them, they probably sent him away. The Congress of the Damned drove all those who bore marks into a mindless killing frenzy.
Portafoy was filled with them.
Speaker 6 If we get out of this, he's next on my fucking shit list.
Speaker 4 I think we've got a lot more to worry about than getting even with Hughes.
Speaker 2 There, an archway.
Speaker 2 Okay,
Speaker 2 time to fold this, motherfucker.
Speaker 4 Wow, this place is massive. Like a gigantic throne room.
Speaker 4 And there's the throne.
Speaker 2 A seat fit for a devil.
Speaker 2 You gotta be kidding me. It's
Speaker 2 smoldering.
Speaker 2 It's big enough to fit three people in it.
Speaker 6 But
Speaker 2 where is he?
Speaker 6 Where's Edgar?
Speaker 2 I am a prince of the air, child.
Speaker 2 The better
Speaker 2 question be:
Speaker 2 Where am I not?
Speaker 2 Back to back
Speaker 4 Phyllis, can you sense where he is?
Speaker 2 He's
Speaker 2 too well where I am.
Speaker 2 For the spirits of the dead have eyes that can spy the damned
Speaker 2 son of the bitch,
Speaker 2 I'll fucking kill you!
Speaker 2 Phil! Hold on! I can't stop the bleeding! Makes
Speaker 2 it together!
Speaker 2 The fuck I will!
Speaker 2 Come out, you sack of shit!
Speaker 2 Phil,
Speaker 2 please.
Speaker 2 You gotta hold on.
Speaker 2 You have to.
Speaker 2 Leo, I.
Speaker 2
I'm sorry. Sorry.
I.
Speaker 2 no
Speaker 2 fear not child
Speaker 2 the two of ye be joined in death very
Speaker 2 soon
Speaker 2 the child is having no effect on him
Speaker 2 hold still you bastard
Speaker 2 of course
Speaker 2 but only for leaving you have those accursed weapons
Speaker 2 he
Speaker 2 damn it, Leon! Step out of it! Don't let it take your peace!
Speaker 2 I'm afraid your youthful friend can't hear you.
Speaker 2 His heart doth ache too much.
Speaker 2 She's gone, Mace.
Speaker 2 I shall relieve ye of Ice Horror very soon,
Speaker 2 but first...
Speaker 2 I can't breathe.
Speaker 2 No, don't! Leon!
Speaker 2 No!
Speaker 2 Let him go, you fucker!
Speaker 2 Of course.
Speaker 2 But you no longer be needing this little toy of yours.
Speaker 2 There, a low voicing
Speaker 2 is but a gentle breeze.
Speaker 4 We'll see about that. Burn, you son of a bitch, burn
Speaker 2 back away from him.
Speaker 2 So
Speaker 2 thou think I burned within my small squalid cottage in the woods, swaddled in flames,
Speaker 2 pleading for mercy.
Speaker 2 But nay,
Speaker 2 I did not.
Speaker 2 I did not die like my kin before me.
Speaker 2 For I knew then, even as a mortal, the ways of the damned.
Speaker 2 I chose how I would die well before torch was set to wood and thatching.
Speaker 2 I died
Speaker 2 by my own devicing,
Speaker 2 and ye shall never
Speaker 2 know how t'was done.
Speaker 2 Thy wisdom hath played yea false, and now thou shalt pay the ultimate price.
Speaker 2 But I shall allow thee one
Speaker 2 gold.
Speaker 2 My God,
Speaker 2 or is he becoming
Speaker 2 a devil?
Speaker 2 When at last ye are naught but echoes and blood,
Speaker 2 I will pluck thy souls from thy reddened corpses,
Speaker 2 return them to the birds thou'st cost me,
Speaker 2 and from time to time,
Speaker 2 gaze upon thee where ye dwell,
Speaker 2 within my gallery of husks.
Speaker 2 And now,
Speaker 2 let thy screaming and pleading for mercy
Speaker 2 commence.
Speaker 2 No twice
Speaker 2 We gotta run where the hill's the hallway we came through it's finished
Speaker 2 Fools
Speaker 2 This place
Speaker 2 every stick and stone and silk
Speaker 2 Every worm that crawls and more than dead obeys my will
Speaker 2 There is no escape
Speaker 2 not
Speaker 2 even in death.
Speaker 2 I'm sorry, my dear.
Speaker 2 I failed you.
Speaker 2 No!
Speaker 2 I can hear that accursed water drying atop thy foreheads. And once it's gone,
Speaker 2 my power will wash over thee like the flood itself.
Speaker 2 But until then,
Speaker 2 my strength, my talents,
Speaker 2 and my teeth shall worry thy flesh to the whites of your bones.
Speaker 2 Look out. He's gonna charge!
Speaker 2 Leon, move!
Speaker 2 Oh, let go of me, you bastard! God, he's crushing me!
Speaker 2 And now
Speaker 2 I shall unveil thy soul and
Speaker 2 put
Speaker 2 him
Speaker 2 down,
Speaker 2 Niberius.
Speaker 2 I cannot move.
Speaker 2 How does thou know my true name?
Speaker 2 Why, I found it in the mind of your miserable niece, Abigail.
Speaker 2 You shouldn't have told them, but I suppose, since you all once shared a human bloodline, you made an exception.
Speaker 2 Didn't you?
Speaker 2 Too bad.
Speaker 2 But I saw ye slain.
Speaker 2 You're the only mortal.
Speaker 2 Once upon a time, but you changed all that the day you tricked us into coming here. Had your daughter fill my veins with her blood.
Speaker 2 All the while I was forced beneath the sonic canopy of the resonator for safety. Now, I don't know what I have, but whatever I've become, it seems it takes more than a slashed throat to kill me.
Speaker 2 Oh, and by the way, do you remember a man by the name of Benjamin Veers?
Speaker 2 Manchild meant for the Arhorn.
Speaker 2 Yes, he sends his regards. Why, if it weren't for him, I'd never have known to seek out your hidden name.
Speaker 2 Bridal not sappha!
Speaker 2 Lights of Ye to
Speaker 2 breed me!
Speaker 2 No!
Speaker 2 I have no idea if he can overcome my speaking his secret name! So hurry! Kill him!
Speaker 2 You ain't gotta tell me twice.
Speaker 2 Get the guns.
Speaker 2
Fuck that. I got a knife.
This is for that fucking water.
Speaker 2 No!
Speaker 2 Get away from me!
Speaker 2 Stop!
Speaker 2 Eat shit and die, you motherfucker!
Speaker 2 This is for Bill, you sorry sick of shit!
Speaker 2 This cannot be!
Speaker 2 Wanna bet?
Speaker 2 This is for what you did to all the people in Porta Fort at the hotel in Coltsbarrow.
Speaker 2 Let us see how a great lord of the pit weathers the water from the great storm!
Speaker 2 Lord beneath the world,
Speaker 2 save thy servant!
Speaker 2 Save me.
Speaker 2 What in God's name have we become?
Speaker 6 I didn't think we'd see daylight again.
Speaker 4 And look at all it cost us.
Speaker 2 I don't even know how to think about what just happened.
Speaker 2
What the hell is that? It's the cabin beneath the cottage. With Edgar dead, it's collapsing.
Get back!
Speaker 2
Jesus. That's one hell of a sinkhole.
Well,
Speaker 6 scratch one, black cottage.
Speaker 2 And good riddance.
Speaker 2 Unfortunately, Edgar and his clan were but a small fragment of the damned that now plague the world.
Speaker 2 And I doubt those who remain will take kindly to their demise.
Speaker 2 So, So,
Speaker 6 what do we do next?
Speaker 2 And the fun now.
Speaker 2 Hello?
Speaker 2 Marlene Rhodes?
Speaker 2
Not anymore. I'm divorced.
Who's this? You realize it's three o'clock in the morning, right?
Speaker 2 My visit concerns your ex-husband, Mason.
Speaker 9 Whatever he's done, it's his problem, not mine.
Speaker 2 I'm afraid it concerns you as well.
Speaker 2 Your entire family, in fact.
Speaker 2 You see, he's done something rather unkind to some...
Speaker 2 relations of mine.
Speaker 2 And I've come to repay that unkindness.
Speaker 2 Is that so?
Speaker 9 Well, you better get out of here, whoever the hell you are. I'll call in the cops.
Speaker 2 Wherever are my manners? I haven't even introduced myself. How ungentlemanly of me.
Speaker 2 And I am nothing, if not a gentleman.
