Speaker 2
Good morning, everyone. I'm Megan Kelly.
It's Monday, October 27th, 2025, and this is your AM update.
Speaker 3 I believe we've reached a very substantial framework.
Speaker 2 President Trump prepares to meet China's President Xi Jinping later this week as Treasury Secretary Scott Besant announces a major step forward in reaching a trade deal with China.
Speaker 4 I support the Democratic nominee, as I indicated, and we're in alignment in terms of the issue related to affordability.
Speaker 2 House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries tosses New York City mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani a last-minute endorsement.
Speaker 2 Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy threatens to revoke more California federal funding in the wake of another semi-truck accident allegedly caused by a foreign national driver.
Speaker 2 And two suspects are arrested with that wild Louvre heist. All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM update.
Speaker 2 As President Trump is settling into his new administration, one of the top Democrats in Congress aiming to undermine the Trump agenda is Democrat Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois.
Speaker 2 And according to our sponsor, the Electronic Payments Coalition, Senator Durbin has a new plan: a government takeover of your credit card.
Speaker 2 Today, Americans have thousands of choices in credit cards, but they say Senator Durbin's plan will result in less competition and less security, which means more risk for your credit and your identity.
Speaker 2 You can learn more for yourself at guardyourcard.com, and you could consider telling your senators to stop Dick Durbin's government takeover of your credit card before it's too late.
Speaker 2 President Trump in Asia for a six-day three-country swing, including a highly anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week in South Korea.
Speaker 2 amid the threat of a renewed trade war.
Speaker 2
On Sunday, President Trump arriving in Malaysia to much fanfare. A crowd of people waving U.S.
and Malaysian flags, dancing on the tarmac.
Speaker 2 President Trump joining in on the fun, dancing along with the group with his signature bald fists, pumping in the air one after the other, having a good time.
Speaker 2 At the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, Mr.
Speaker 2 Trump inking new trade agreements with Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia, and presiding over the signing of a peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand.
Speaker 2 Meantime, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant Besant yesterday also announcing a trade framework between the U.S. and China.
Speaker 2 President Trump previously set a November 1st timeline for China to reach an agreement with America or face 100% tariffs on imports into the U.S.
Speaker 2 China, for its part, threatening to impose export controls on critical rare earth minerals used to manufacture electronics and advanced technologies.
Speaker 2 Secretary Bessant describing the details of the framework on NVC.
Speaker 3 President Trump gave me a great deal of negotiating leverage with the threat of the 100%
Speaker 3 tariffs on November 1st, and I believe we've reached a very substantial framework that will avoid that and allow us to discuss many other things with the Chinese.
Speaker 3 I believe that we have the framework for the two leaders to have a very productive meeting for both sides, and I think it will be fantastic for U.S. citizens, for U.S.
Speaker 3 farmers, and for our country in general.
Speaker 2 But you're not anticipating the 100% tariffs.
Speaker 3 No, I'm not. And I'm also anticipating that we will get some kind of a deferral on the rare earth export controls that the Chinese had discussed.
Speaker 2 Presidents Trump and Xi expected to meet on Thursday, their first face-to-face meeting since 2019. Mr.
Speaker 2 Trump arriving today in Japan, where he is expected to meet with Emperor Naruto, ahead of tomorrow's bilateral meeting with the newly elected first-ever female Prime Minister of Japan.
Speaker 2 House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Friday tossing a muted last-minute endorsement to New York City Democrat mayoral candidate Zoram Mamdani.
Speaker 2 In a statement to the New York Times, Jeffries saying he and Mamdani hold, quote, areas of principled disagreement, but Mamdani won a, quote, free and fair Democrat primary campaign.
Speaker 2 More from the the statement, quote, Zoram Mamdani has relentlessly focused on addressing the affordability crisis and explicitly committed to being a mayor for all New Yorkers, including those who do not support his candidacy.
Speaker 2 In that spirit, I support him and the entire citywide Democratic ticket in the general election.
Speaker 2 Jeffrey's issuing the endorsement just one day before the start of early voting after months of demurring. So what's holding you back from endorsing him right now?
Speaker 3 Well, we don't really know each other.
Speaker 2 As a New Yorker, what does he need to do to secure your endorsement?
Speaker 4 Well, we had a very candid and constructive and community-centered conversation a few weeks ago before he went off to Africa. I've, of course, been on the road for the last several weeks.
Speaker 6 Why are you not endorsing the guy that won the Democratic primary in a contested election in your backyard?
Speaker 4 Well, I look forward to sitting down and talking to him. I didn't get involved in that primary election, and I don't know him well.
Speaker 2
As of Sunday afternoon, Jeffrey's endorsement had not yet been listed on Mamdani's website. Hmm.
Yesterday on CVS, Jeffries questioned on the holdup.
Speaker 2 You waited until this Friday, the day before early voting began, to endorse the Democratic Socialist candidate, Zoran Mamdani. Why did you wait so long?
Speaker 4 Well, as I indicated, last several weeks, we've been immersed in the intensity around the government shutdown and the run-up to that in advance of September 30th and the expiration of the fiscal year.
Speaker 4 But I support the Democratic nominee as I indicated and we're in alignment in terms of the issue related to affordability and the need to address it decisively for the city of New York.
Speaker 4 And of course, affordability is an issue for people all across the country.
Speaker 4 And in terms of the moment that we find ourselves in, Donald Trump represents an existential threat to the city of New York and beyond because of the extreme assault that has taken place throughout this year on the economy, on health care, on farmers, on veterans, on law-abiding immigrant communities, on due process, on the rule of law, and of course on the American way of life itself.
Speaker 2 Mamdani's Muslim identity and close ties to very controversial New York Muslims also taking center stage in the final days of the campaign.
Speaker 2 Many Jewish voters raising concerns about Mamdani's candidacy, citing his failure to sign on to a resolution condemning the Holocaust and refusal to denounce the phrase globalize the intifada as evidence of anti-Semitism.
Speaker 2 At the candidate's first debate, Mamdani demanding to know which New York City mosques Andrew Cuomo had visited in a city that is less than 10% Muslim.
Speaker 2 He also embraced a controversial imam who defended the blind sheikh who bombed the World Trade Center in 1993. Mamdani recently calling this Imam a pillar of the community.
Speaker 2 Mamdani on Friday holding a press conference at times appearing to hold back tears after independent candidate Andrew Cuomo laughed in a radio interview at the suggestion that Mom Dani might cheer for another 9-11 attack.
Speaker 2
Vice President J.D. Vance posting on X, quote, according to Zoran, the real victim of 9-11 was his auntie who got some allegedly bad looks.
Conservative analyst Scott Jennings responding on CNN.
Speaker 8 Is the implication here that he has to answer for the terrorists who attacked 9-11?
Speaker 6 No, I think if you're going to have a press, if you're going to run for mayor of New York City or have any position in New York City and you're going to talk about 9-11 or invoke 9-11, you darn sure better start with the people who died in the Twin Towers.
Speaker 6
That's what I think. And he didn't do that.
And he kind of, you know, he made it about. his experience and his aunt.
Speaker 2 Coming up, a semi-truck driver who came into this country illegally illegally arrested in California last week after allegedly causing a crash that killed three people, escalating a battle between the Department of Transportation and California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Speaker 2 And Paris authorities announced the arrest of two of the suspects believed to be involved in that Louvre jewelry heist.
Speaker 2 Every October, we honor the strength and resilience of women and families affected by breast cancer.
Speaker 2 But cancer touches all of us in some way, and more people today are seeking options beyond the standard approach. That's why I want to tell you about what All Family Pharmacy is doing this month.

Speaker 2 These treatments that are sometimes used off-label are currently being researched in Florida for their potential to support cancer treatment and prevention.

Speaker 2 A new Department of Transportation report blaming California Governor Gavin Newsom and state officials for allowing an asylum seeker to upgrade his commercial driver's license just one week before allegedly causing a crash that killed three people while driving under the influence of drugs.
Speaker 2 21-year-old Joshanpree Singh, an Indian national, plowing his semi-truck into multiple vehicles on a California highway last week, reportedly killing three and injuring at least four.
Speaker 2 Dash cam footage capturing the horrific moment, Singh's red big rig barrels down the highway, slamming into a white SUV, shoving it through two more vehicles before crashing into the rear of another 18-wheeler.
Speaker 2 It then veers off the road, striking several more vehicles, including at least one that burst into flames.
Speaker 2 Local authorities arresting Singh on charges of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence.
Speaker 2 ICE then lodging an immigration detainer against Singh, requesting that local officials hold him for federal custody following his release from state jail.
Speaker 2 According to the Department of Homeland Security, Singh entered the country illegally in 2022 during the Biden administration. He was given a future court date and then a work permit.
Speaker 2 Governor Newsom's office telling Fox News, quote, this is a tragic situation.
Speaker 2 And as with every tragedy over the last 10 months, Secretary Noam has ordered Secretary Duffy Duffy to look for every opportunity to manipulate the facts to score cheap political points.
Speaker 2 But the federal government needs to look within before they cast the blame outside.
Speaker 2 The federal government approved and renewed this individual's federal employment authorization multiple times, which allowed him to obtain a commercial driver's license in accordance with federal law.
Speaker 2 However, Secretary Duffy's report finding California officials upgraded Singh's license to permit interstate driving after the Transportation Department set new emergency guidelines restricting who is eligible for a commercial driver's license or CDL.
Speaker 2 The new guidance making it illegal for non-citizens to obtain CDLs unless they satisfy a more rigorous set of requirements.
Speaker 2 DOT finding Singh's license had been upgraded on October 15th, his 21st birthday, without applying the stricter standards that would have prevented the license from being renewed.
Speaker 2 Secretary Duffy yesterday on Fox saying the department is prepared to respond if California does not comply with the emergency regulations.
Speaker 5 Gavin Newsom has thumbed his nose at us. He's refused to comply with the rules that have come from DOT, which is stop issuing these licenses, number one.
Speaker 5 And number two, go back and review all the licenses that you have issued and make sure it's been done legally.
Speaker 5 Gavin Newsom has said no. So one, I'm about to pull $160 million from California.
Speaker 5 And as we pull more money, we also have the option of pulling California's ability to issue commercial driver's licenses.
Speaker 5 Gavin Newsom cares more about illegals getting commercial driver's licenses than he does the citizens of his own state and the safety of Americans. It's shameful.
Speaker 5 He's been lying about what he's been doing.
Speaker 5 And again,
Speaker 5 we're going to fight tooth and nail under President Trump's administration to make sure that we hold states like California accountable.
Speaker 2 The incident coming just two months after a separate crash killed three people in Florida while the driver was attempting an illegal U-turn.
Speaker 2 That driver later found to be in the country illegally and unable to pass an English proficiency exam.
Speaker 2 French authorities arresting two suspects connected to the shocking jewelry heist last week at the Louvre.
Speaker 2 A crew of four using a truck-mounted ladder to enter through a window, swipe eight pieces worth about $102 million from two display cases, Napoleon jewels and French crown jewels, then escape on motor scooters within minutes.
Speaker 2 The search continuing for two more suspects still and the jewels.
Speaker 2 Paris prosecutor Laura Bacou, overseeing the case, telling a French paper, quote, the amount of media coverage this organized robbery has received gives me a glimmer of hope that the perpetrators won't dare to move the jewelry too far.
Speaker 2 On Saturday evening, French station BFM-TV reporting two suspects in their 30s had been detained. Le Monde reporting one is a French national with dual citizenship in Mali, West Africa, too.
Speaker 2 The other holds dual citizenship between France and Algeria. The latter reportedly arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport preparing to catch a flight to Algeria.
Speaker 2 The French national nabbed as police say he was about to travel to Mali, per ABC News.
Speaker 2 The New York Post reporting the two men detained are from, quote, a rough suburb of North Paris, currently detained at police headquarters in connection with an investigation into organized gang robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Speaker 2 They can be held for up to 96 hours without charges actually being filed.
Speaker 2 Around 100 investigators on this case, collecting nearly 150 traces of DNA, fingerprints, hair samples, as well from the scene, reports the post.
Speaker 2 ABC News adding that investigators say they matched trace DNA evidence recovered from a helmet left at the crime scene to one of the suspects, which led to phone and physical surveillance.
Speaker 2 Investigators still determining whether the thieves may have had inside help at the museum.
Speaker 2 Le Parisin newspaper reporting the suspects already known to police for previous robberies are believed to have carried out the heist on commission. Hmm, the plot thickens.
Speaker 2 And that'll do it for your AM update. I'm Megan Kelly.
Speaker 2 Join me back here for the Megan Kelly Show, live on SiriusXM Triumph Channel 111 at Noon East on youtube.com/slash Megan Kelly and on all podcast platforms.
