Day 217: Resting With the Trinity

12m

As we continue focusing our decades of the Rosary on the persons we’re praying to, Fr. Mark-Mary shares some insight on how to pray to the Trinity. We’re invited to sit at the table with the Trinity, offer them praise and adoration, or simply share in their exchange of love. Our meditation is guided by a quote from St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, whose longing to dwell wholly in God is echoed in today’s reflection. Today’s focus is the mysteries of the Ascension and the Descent of the Holy Spirit, and we will be praying two decades of the Rosary.

Today we'll be praying with the second and the third glorious mysteries: the ascension and the descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

All right, so today we are going to be focusing on praying

before the Most Holy Trinity.

And I'm certainly open to you taking this in whatever direction you have found helpful.

I shared last time about the Holy Trinity being this holy exchange of love,

and that we are called, that we are destined to share in this exchange of love between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for all eternity.

Perhaps you're moved to, if you will, sit at the table of the most holy Trinity

to share in, to be part in this exchange of love that we enter into through baptism

and incorporation into Christ.

Perhaps you're moved

as I am to just like praise and adoration before

the transcendent almighty God,

who is Father, Son, Son, and Holy Spirit.

If you will, raise your hands, your heart, your mind, and adoration, praise

of God,

who is love, and God who is of himself worthy of worship.

Or perhaps you'd like to take your prompting of prayer.

from this prayer by Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity, Carmelite Saint,

whose prayer is quoted in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 260, O my God,

Trinity whom I adore,

help me to forget myself entirely,

so to establish myself in you,

unmovable and peaceful,

as if my soul were already in eternity.

May nothing be able to trouble my peace or make me leave you, O my unchanging God.

But may each minute bring me more deeply into your mystery.

Grant my soul peace.

Make it your heaven, your beloved dwelling, and the place of your rest.

May I never abandon you there, but may I be there whole and entire, completely vigilant in my faith, entirely adoring, and wholly given over to your creative action.

And now let us pray.

The second glorious mystery is the ascension.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

The second glorious mystery is the ascension.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

God bless y'all.
