Day 338: The Luminous Mysteries
As we pray the Luminous mysteries, Fr. Mark-Mary shares reflections on the relationship between Jesus’ baptism and ours, an encouragement to climb the mountain with Jesus, and we’re invited to greater trust and surrender to the Father. We’re reminded of the new wine offered to us at Cana, and briefly return to Rembrant’s painting, Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee. Today's focus is the Luminous Mysteries.

Speaker 12 The first luminous mystery is the baptism of Jesus.
Speaker 36 Let's go ahead and take a moment to recall what the luminous mysteries reveal,
Speaker 36 aspects of Jesus' nature and mission.
Speaker 14 All of these mysteries are significant moments during the public life of Jesus, and each is a revelation of the kingdom of God present in the person of Jesus.
Speaker 19 The first luminous mystery, the baptism of Jesus, can inspire us to recall our own baptisms, meditating on the identity that we have in him.
Speaker 8 Through our baptism, you and I share in Jesus' own relationship with the Father.

Speaker 44 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Speaker 36 The second luminous mystery is the wedding at Cana.
Speaker 15 Sometimes we feel like we've run out of wine, we've run out of sweetness in our lives.
Speaker 36 However, this mystery shows that Jesus
Speaker 5 will provide.
Speaker 26 He is here as the divine bridegroom to do something new,
Speaker 10 to provide the new wine.
Speaker 27 Let's ask Jesus as we pray this decade for this new wine,
Speaker 35 in particular
Speaker 5 for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, our souls, our lives.
Speaker 17 Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Speaker 44 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Speaker 10 Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Speaker 15 O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell.
Speaker 6 and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
Speaker 36 The third luminous mystery is the proclamation of the kingdom and the call to conversion.
Speaker 19 If you can remember our meditation on Rembrandt's painting Christ in the storm on the sea of Galilee, the apostles are afraid of the storm and they're filled with like a really deep and real fear.
Speaker 39 But also they doubt Jesus.
Speaker 16 and his love for them, like his concern for them, his investment in them.
Speaker 18 And sometimes we can have this experience.
Speaker 5 It might feel like Jesus is asleep in the boat of our life, and we can doubt that he even cares.
Speaker 23 But let's pray now for trust.
Speaker 36 Not just for trust that Jesus is in control, you know, of the practicals,
Speaker 13 but also that he loves us, and that he cares for us, and that he is there for us and with us.
Speaker 17 Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Speaker 44 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Speaker 29 Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Speaker 44 Amen.
Speaker 11 O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
Speaker 36 The fourth luminous mystery is the Transfiguration.
Speaker 36 In the mystery of the Transfiguration, there's the invitation to climb the mountain with Jesus.
Speaker 23 Sometimes, though, like in our vocations and our states of life, it can be hard to just drop everything, leave it behind, leave the world, and go climb, you know, the mountain with Jesus to witness God and his glory.
Speaker 16 Right now, let's let go of this feeling that we need to climb the entire mountain all at once and have this hard and total break from everything of our lives and our responsibilities, etc.
Speaker 27 Instead, like while praying in this decade, let's practice the Poco Poca spirituality.
Speaker 18 Let's be open to and ask God's grace just to make the next best step, the next movement, the next yes, to bring us, to bring you closer to God.
Speaker 17 Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Speaker 44 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Speaker 29 Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Speaker 11 O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
Speaker 6 The fifth luminous mystery is the institution of the Eucharist.
Speaker 8 In our prayer, let's place ourselves at the table with Jesus during the Last Supper.
Speaker 13 His next movement after the Last Supper is
Speaker 6 walking into, freely entering into the sorrowful mysteries.
Speaker 5 Yet here he is, filled with peace.
Speaker 22 He's at peace because he knows who he is and he knows who his Father is.
Speaker 26 In this mystery, we're invited to find rest in Jesus' trust and surrender to the Father, and to know that we can always come and be renewed in this rest
Speaker 5 by praying with Jesus, truly present in the most blessed sacrament of the altar.
Speaker 21 Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Speaker 40 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Speaker 13 Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
