Day 339: The Sorrowful Mysteries
We return to the Sorrowful Mysteries, and Fr. Mark-Mary shares meditations on the relationship between the Garden of Gethsemane and the Garden of Eden, reminding us of the relationship between sin and the Sorrowful Mysteries. As we witness Jesus crowned with thorns and carrying the cross, we’re also reminded of the glory that can be found in Christ’s passion. Today's focus is the Sorrowful Mysteries, and we’ll be praying the full Rosary.

The first sorrowful mystery is the agony. in the garden.
The agony in the garden might remind us of another significant biblical context and moment in a garden right the garden of eden and of course this isn't a coincidence
here through obedience to the father
in the garden of gethsemane in the mystery of jesus's agony in the garden jesus will repair
will redeem the damage caused by adam and eve's disobedience in the garden of eden
we can meditate here on the perfect obedience of Jesus, which restores our relationship with God.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The second sorrowful mystery is the scourging at the pillar.
Sin destroys and wounds our souls.
But sometimes we don't fully see or recognize its effects. In the mystery of the scourging at the pillar, the reality of sin is revealed to us.
We see Jesus beat and bent over and suffering.
And this is the reality.
This is what sin does to our soul and ultimately to the world.
As we pray this decade, let us pray for God's mercy and forgiveness.
and unite any sufferings that we may currently be experiencing with that of our Lord.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The third sorrowful mystery is the crowning with thorns.
As we pray with the mystery of Jesus being crowned with thorns, we see again the effects of sin on the world,
but also the truth that Jesus is conquering death.
The Roman soldiers who are mocking and crowning Jesus with a crown of thorns are unknowingly
also revealing him as the victorious king.
Even here, even in this moment in salvation history, he is king and he is conquering.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The fourth sorrowful mystery is the carrying of the cross.
The carrying of the cross and having a condemned man carry a cross was meant to be a dishonor.
But as we previously discussed, St. Thomas Aquinas
says that Jesus carried his cross as a sign of his glory,
as a champion or a victor carries his trophy.
In freely accepting the cross, Jesus has changed what is dishonorable and terrible into something victorious.
And because Jesus has done this,
we can do the same with our own sufferings in Him.
We can recognize that they are unjust, that they are evil, that they are bad.
But with Christ, receive them, embrace them, and carry them with Jesus.
And he will transform our crosses into instruments of victory and grace.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The fifth sorrowful mystery is the crucifixion.
Through sin we are separated from God.
However, Jesus didn't wait at a distance for us to return to him. He pursued us even to death on a cross.
Jesus reveals to us the pursuit of the Father for us.
God enters into our situations. He comes to us and restores us back to life.
As we conclude our rosary, let us fix our eyes on Christ crucified. Let us fix our eyes
on Jesus' love.
Let us fix our eyes on our heavenly Father's love revealed in Christ crucified.
A love that pursues us unto death.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile. Show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O Clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, most holy mother of God,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray.
O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life.
Grant, we beseech thee that meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thanks, everyone, for joining me in praying with me today. I look forward to continuing this journey with you again tomorrow.
Poke Poke, friends. God bless y'all.
