Day 341: The Glorious Mysteries

28m

Together with Fr. Mark-Mary, we meditate on the Glorious Mysteries, drawing inspiration from St. Augustine and Mother Teresa. We contemplate the triumph of Christ and the joy of Heaven, reflect on what it means to hold fast to Jesus through charity, and give thanks for the “new wine” of the Holy Spirit poured into our hearts. We’re also reminded of Mary’s powerful and tender care as Queen who watches over her children. Today’s focus is the Glorious Mysteries, and we’ll be praying the full Rosary.

Today we'll be praying the glorious mysteries. Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead, and he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and a life everlasting. Amen.

For our Holy Father, His health and intentions, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

For an increase in the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The first glorious mystery is the resurrection.

As we begin our rosary today,

you might recall the story

I recounted near the beginning of our journey about when I was trying to make a paschal candle on Holy Saturday, a couple hours before the Easter vigil,

and how I found out, right, like how significant the paschal candle is as like the symbol par excellence of the entire liturgical year.

Let's go ahead and take a moment here and use the paschal candle, the Easter candle, the the paschal candle, as imagery for a meditation, right? Like reminding us of how significant

the victory of the resurrection is.

The Easter candle is lit, the light

is victorious,

and death, and suffering, and darkness have never and will never overcome it.

The paschal candle continues to burn because Christ is risen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The second glorious mystery is the ascension.

Let's briefly return to one of our saint reflections from Saint Augustine.

In Saint Augustine, he exhorts us to hold fast to to Christ as he ascends. And this is what St.
Augustine wrote.

Journey on with love.

Ascend by charity.

Let everyone then do what he can for others.

In this decade, can we ponder how we personally

can cling to Jesus, can descend with Jesus through our charity, our love of him, and our love of our neighbor.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The third glorious mystery is the descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

After the ascent of the Holy Spirit after Pentecost, those who hear the apostles are amazed, right, and they're perplexed.

They even suggested, right, that perhaps the apostles had had too much wine at like nine in the morning.

But right, while they hadn't actually had any wine, it was this like callback and this sign that Jesus' implicit promise at the wedding feast at Cana is fulfilled. He has sent the new wine,

the good wine,

the sweetness of God in the form of the Holy Spirit for all of us.

As we pray, let us give thanks for the gift of the Holy Spirit, the new wine given to help us on our journey to heaven.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The fourth glorious mystery is the assumption of Mary.

Can we imagine what it must have been like in heaven?

when Mary was assumed.

If you remember, we can call to mind the image I shared of Mother Teresa returning to the convent in Calcutta and being surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of her joyful sisters who came to greet her with like smiles and laughter and tears, like this great rejoicing that their mother was home.

And how

the angels must have rejoiced when our lady was assumed into heaven, when our heavenly mother, like when she returned home.

Or also these words of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, right? The glorious virgin who mounts to the heavens today

has without a doubt heaped joy upon joy for the citizens of the world above.

As we pray this decade, let us ask to already now share in this joy.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

The fifth glorious mystery is the coronation of Mary as queen of heaven and earth.

One of Mary's titles is in Latin, Regina Angelorum, right, queen of angels.

As we pray with Mary's coronation, we can find comfort. and encouragement, strength in this title, knowing that Mary is both our mother,

but also, right, our mother happens to be like the general, the queen of an angelic army,

an army, right, that she will send to protect us from all harm and to assist us on our journey.

We, the children of this mother, should never hesitate to call upon her for any help that we need.

with the confidence, right,

that she will like fight for us and and that she will send hosts of angels to support us and protect us and encourage us on our journey.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.

To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile.

Show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O Clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, most holy mother of God,

that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray.
O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life.

Grant, we beseech thee that meditating upon these mysteries, the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise through the same Christ our Lord.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Thanks, everyone, for joining me and praying with me today. I look forward to continuing this journey with you again tomorrow.
Poca Poca, friends. God God bless y'all.
