Day 340: The Joyful Mysteries
Journeying through the Joyful Mysteries, Fr. Mark-Mary shares meditations on Mary’s yes to a person, not a plan, the sheer joy of the Nativity, and the importance of seeking Jesus. The Joyful Mysteries can remind us of God’s faithfulness to his promises, revealed through Mary’s Visitation, Simeon and Anna in the Temple, and the finding of Jesus. Today's focus is the Joyful Mysteries, and we’ll be praying the full Rosary.

Today we will be praying the joyful mysteries.
Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to hell. On the third day, he rose again from the dead, and he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and a life everlasting. Amen.
For our Holy Father, His health and intentions, our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen
for an increase in the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
The first joyful mystery is the Annunciation.
As we pray this first decade,
let's meditate on Mary's yes.
It's a yes, a fiat made to a person,
not a well-laid out plan.
The angel doesn't come to Mary with a fully formed itinerary or all of the answers,
but he comes with the promise of God's goodness and love.
And to this,
Mary says yes.
Today,
even though we might not have the full plan,
Can we have confidence in God's grace and his goodness to get us through today?
And can we today in this moment say yes to God?
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The second joyful mystery is the visitation.
When Mary reaches Elizabeth, Mary greets Elizabeth first.
Recalling St. Ambrose's reflection that we read.
This greeting of Mary to Elizabeth, like it's a reflection of God's love for us.
God doesn't just stay in heaven, stay seated on his throne, waiting for us to approach him, to take the initiative, to make the long journey.
Instead, God comes in search of us, just as Mary, after the Annunciation, seeks out Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, greeting her first.
Let's go ahead and pause and take a moment as we pray to consider
that here and now God is taking the initiative in seeking you,
in coming to you, and in drawing you to Him.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

The third joyful mystery is the Nativity.
Take a moment to visualize what it would be like
to experience this moment, the Nativity, like Mary and Joseph
and the shepherds.
It's an entirely new thing
as you experience the awe and wonder of God become man.
Coming to dwell with us in the most lowly of places.
and if you can recall back to that story of the man in the shelter on Christmas who received the gifts and just said, It's just too much, it's too much, it's too much.
Can we be moved to this level of awe and gratitude as we experience the humility
and the goodness of God, the word become flesh,
the babe of Bethlehem?
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The fourth joyful mystery is the presentation of Jesus in the temple.
The holy prophet and prophetess,
Simeon and Anna, spent their entire lives waiting in the temple for the Savior.
And sometimes we might feel like Simeon and Anna, like waiting and waiting and waiting for God and his promises to be fulfilled in our lives.
Let's take hope because here in this mystery we see that Simeon and Anna did not wait in vain, but their hope was fulfilled as the child Jesus was brought to the temple.
Let's be inspired and take heart because, like Simeon and Anna,
we do not wait in vain. And the Lord is our hope, and our hope will not disappoint us.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The fifth joyful mystery is the finding of Jesus in the temple.
Are we seeking Jesus in our lives as Mary and Joseph sought him
in this mystery, the fifth joyful mystery?
As As we meditate on the finding of Jesus in the temple, can we rest with or maybe wrestle with Jesus's question,
how is it that you sought me?
Did you seek him with some indifference or impatience?
Or do we seek him like with confidence?
And do we seek him as those who love him,
as Mary and Joseph sought Jesus,
the one they loved.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, most holy mother of God,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray.
O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life.
Grant, we beseech thee that meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Thanks, everyone, for joining me and praying with me today. I look forward to continuing this journey with you again tomorrow.
Poco Poca, friends. God bless you all.
