Speaker 21 Chapter 13

Speaker 3 Coming Home

Speaker 22 Part 2 of two.

Speaker 3 Can't this thing go any faster? We've completely lost them on the radar.

Speaker 18 I uh

Speaker 18 the manual says that this is as fast as it can go. It's full throttle already, but but that that will decrease our fuel efficiency.

Speaker 23 They're in a better plane. We told you this.
What do you expect?

Speaker 3 No, no, no, no, no, no. Damn it.
The easy, easy now.

Speaker 18 We're still on target. I was tracking their descent, and if I'm right, they're going to be landing in this area here.
Give or take four square miles.

Speaker 11 Wait, four miles?

Speaker 18 That's not much, okay? Considering they most likely have to land in an airstrip, we just need to find out which one.

Speaker 3 So what? We just fly around until then?

Speaker 18 Well, that might be difficult. Visibility is going to be low.
It's getting dark fast.

Speaker 18 And for however long we have fuel.

Speaker 3 Are we running out?

Speaker 18 There might be enough in reserve to get us there.

Speaker 23 You wanted to go full throttle.

Speaker 3 Great. Anything else?

Speaker 23 Yeah, one of you will need to land. My feeling's coming back, but wouldn't trust my arms just yet.

Speaker 3 Then start running us through what we'll need to do to land.

Speaker 18 Will, you got this? Yeah,

Speaker 24 don't know if you can trust these hands either.

Speaker 23 Nick, hate to say it, but you are today's most capable.

Speaker 25 Shit, me,

Speaker 3 all this is relying on me now.

Speaker 23 You did put us on the plane.

Speaker 23 Fuck, fuck, fuck.

Speaker 3 Fine, fine, fine. Fine.
How long do we have?

Speaker 18 Less than 45 minutes.

Speaker 3 Well, then you guys better get me ready. And

Speaker 3 what? What now?

Speaker 18 There's one last thing.

Speaker 18 Based on how fast their plane was going and their trajectory, Vincent and Vera would already be on the ground.

Speaker 23 They've landed.

Speaker 23 Oof.

Speaker 3 All right, we're here.

Speaker 23 And where is here?

Speaker 26 Good old swamplands of Louisiana.

Speaker 27 Bugs the size of your fist. And mosquitoes that'll bleed you dry.

Speaker 11 You're gonna love it.

Speaker 20 Hurry up now.

Speaker 27 We have to get moving before we lose the light completely.

Speaker 20 Fuck you.

Speaker 23 I'm not going anywhere. You drugged and kidnapped me.

Speaker 27 That's not.

Speaker 3 I'm trying to help you.

Speaker 23 That's what you're doing?

Speaker 3 Helping? Why do you think I volunteered to go into the last stadium with you?

Speaker 11 Once I found out who you were, I had to protect you.

Speaker 3 It's what we do for family.

Speaker 23 Found out what? What is this family you're talking about?

Speaker 24 Like I said, yours.

Speaker 27 There was no time to explain back in Prim. This has to be done in person.

Speaker 10 Dart's still doing its thing, huh?

Speaker 23 You and I are not family.

Speaker 23 You don't know anything about me.

Speaker 20 I know more than you do, apparently.

Speaker 27 In the arena, you and Lisa talked about your dad, Oliver.

Speaker 24 It was enough to put the pieces together.

Speaker 23 My dad?

Speaker 23 Why does he matter?

Speaker 23 I've never even met him. He abandoned us.

Speaker 3 Huh.

Speaker 27 I wonder how much your mom kept from you.

Speaker 27 One of the many reasons I needed to bring you here.

Speaker 27 When you're ready, come on down.

Speaker 11 We have a ways to go.

Speaker 27 Might get a little dicey.

Speaker 27 I brought along your katana.

Speaker 27 Not really my thing, but you seem attached.

Speaker 27 Fortunately, whoever owned this plane had a pretty nice stash of weapons in the cargo hold.

Speaker 3 What happened in Prim?

Speaker 23 Where are the others?

Speaker 23 What did you do?

Speaker 27 I didn't really do anything. Infected got out, whole city went to shit.
Your friends made it to the airport.

Speaker 24 Same as us.

Speaker 27 We just went a different way.

Speaker 23 How far are we from them?

Speaker 3 Uh,

Speaker 27 about 1,500 miles, give or take.

Speaker 3 What?

Speaker 3 No.

Speaker 23 Why?

Speaker 23 Take me back there now. I want to go home.

Speaker 3 You don't get it, do you?

Speaker 11 This is so much much more important than all that.

Speaker 23 Don't you tell me what's important!

Speaker 3 Why would I risk everything to get you here?

Speaker 27 The plane wouldn't make it anyway. Not enough fuel left.
This was a one-way trip.

Speaker 27 If it makes any difference, you may be able to call Westport once we get there.

Speaker 3 How is that possible? Where we're going is a bit special.

Speaker 27 Been around a while. We have resources.

Speaker 23 I don't understand what the hell you keep talking about. Who has resources? Tell me what's going on.

Speaker 27 Honestly, I shouldn't really tell you much else yet. It's kind of how we operate.
But once you're there and find out who you really are, then you can know everything.

Speaker 23 Why do I matter?

Speaker 27 Haven't you always felt a little different?

Speaker 27 Wondered where the other half of you comes from?

Speaker 27 So why don't you pick that up and you can finally find out?

Speaker 24 What do you have to lose?

Speaker 23 What the fuck? What do you have to lose?

Speaker 3 Ah, damn it, Vera. Don't you understand what I'm trying to do? What I went through?

Speaker 11 You wanna throw all this away?

Speaker 3 Never know any answers? Just to be lost in some swamp?

Speaker 3 You are thousands of miles from where you think you want to be.

Speaker 23 What choice have you left me?

Speaker 11 Stubborn, aren't you?

Speaker 3 Oh, damn it. I need to wrap this.

Speaker 3 You cut me deep.

Speaker 23 Could have been worse. What can I say? Dart's still affecting my arm.

Speaker 27 Well, lucky me.

Speaker 19 Can you walk?

Speaker 3 Barely.

Speaker 24 You're not gonna try something else if I turn my back to you?

Speaker 23 That's all

Speaker 23 for now.

Speaker 27 Better not. I'm too tired to want to fight you right now, anyway.

Speaker 27 There's a path north that will take us the rest of the way.

Speaker 27 It's a couple of miles, and I don't want to carry you.

Speaker 23 I'm starting to feel the toxin finally wearing off.

Speaker 23 I can handle myself.

Speaker 3 Good.

Speaker 25 In that case,

Speaker 27 this way.

Speaker 3 Okay, look, low fuel, low fuel. Yeah, thank you, Will.
I may not know much about planes, but I get what a warning means.

Speaker 23 I can't see anything out this window. Just lots of trees and scattered houses and shit.
There's no lights, nothing to get our bearings.

Speaker 3 Oh, man.

Speaker 18 I think I'm gonna be sick.

Speaker 23 Withdrawals or air sick?

Speaker 3 Both. Hey, suck it up, man.
I need you with me for this.

Speaker 23 Should we find a field or a highway? Maybe any place that's flat.

Speaker 18 There, I see it.

Speaker 3 Big open clearing up ahead.

Speaker 18 That has to be the airport.

Speaker 3 Hell yeah. I told you I needed you, man.

Speaker 23 All right, now level off.

Speaker 23 Run through all the steps like I told you.

Speaker 3 Okay, I got it.

Speaker 4 Got it. Got it.

Speaker 18 I'll handle the switches.

Speaker 3 Nick, you got the. The six.
The six. I got it.

Speaker 3 All right.

Speaker 18 Gears down.

Speaker 3 I can't. I can't see much.

Speaker 3 A little more to the right.

Speaker 18 There, straighten out.

Speaker 23 Yeah, keep that nose up.

Speaker 3 I'm trying, I'm trying.

Speaker 23 Ease down the throttle nice and steady.

Speaker 3 It's coming up. It's coming up.

Speaker 7 Start to bring the sticks towards you.

Speaker 23 Ease back down.

Speaker 3 Down, down. I am.
I am. Pull back on the throttle.
Oh, shit. Too late.

Speaker 3 Break! Break!

Speaker 3 There's no landing here!

Speaker 3 We're not on the runway anymore! I know, I know! Reverse the clusters! Well!

Speaker 3 Well

Speaker 3 at least we're on the ground.

Speaker 23 Oh no.

Speaker 12 Something tells me this plane's flying days are over.

Speaker 3 Hey, um,

Speaker 3 what was it that Guardian pilots always say?

Speaker 3 Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

Speaker 25 Grab your gear.

Speaker 3 Can you walk yet?

Speaker 30 I mostly feel my legs.

Speaker 3 Feet are a maybe.

Speaker 3 Alright.

Speaker 3 Grab on. I can't.
Can't really carry you, but...

Speaker 23 Which arm is the bad one?

Speaker 3 It doesn't matter.

Speaker 25 Like I said.

Speaker 3 Matters to me.

Speaker 23 It matters to most people.

Speaker 3 It's wrapped, okay? Now come on. We have to hurry.

Speaker 3 Sorry about that. Hey, don't be.

Speaker 20 You did great well.

Speaker 3 I'm proud of you, man.

Speaker 3 Oh.

Speaker 3 Are you okay? Are you gonna puke again?

Speaker 18 N n no, it's just...

Speaker 18 No one's ever said that to me before. Proud of me.
It's...

Speaker 18 Is that strange?

Speaker 26 No.

Speaker 3 Not for someone from Prim.

Speaker 3 We'll work on that, okay?

Speaker 3 No, you mind opening the door?

Speaker 3 I'm getting a coma. Okay.

Speaker 3 Oh, there it goes.

Speaker 18 Patrick was stuck.

Speaker 3 Alright, you first, then help me move her out.

Speaker 3 Easy.

Speaker 3 Help me out, Will.

Speaker 3 whoa

Speaker 3 wow

Speaker 23 well i think he may have touched the runway at some point look oh i i got her

Speaker 3 any sign of them

Speaker 3 there's another jet over there that has to be theirs right that one's in a lot better shape well considering that was our first time flying we're fucking aces in my book you're here

Speaker 18 the right brothers masters of flight

Speaker 3 damsters

Speaker 3 no uh I don't.

Speaker 3 I don't see anyone.

Speaker 18 The plane's warm, but not hot.

Speaker 18 They must have landed some time ago.

Speaker 23 Then hopefully they didn't hear us crash.

Speaker 3 Right now, I only care about finding them.

Speaker 23 You'll care if we lose the element of surprise. Right now, Vincent doesn't know we're coming.

Speaker 3 Look, if we don't move fast, we'll lose them anyways.

Speaker 3 Come on, look on board for anything that might lead us to them.

Speaker 23 I think you can let me off for a bit.

Speaker 3 You can walk? A little wobbly, but yeah.

Speaker 23 Hey, check the cargo hold of Vincent's plane. There could be something in there.

Speaker 13 Um, this thing right here?

Speaker 9 Yeah, pull the handle.

Speaker 3 Holy.

Speaker 3 Hell yeah. Weapons, M16, MP5.
Yo, this thing is loaded.

Speaker 23 I'll take that MP5 and that knife.

Speaker 18 Plane's empty on the inside. Not a thing left behind.
Shit.

Speaker 18 I did find this, though. Nokoma?

Speaker 30 My dark gun, seriously?

Speaker 3 You're excited by that? Not by all of this?

Speaker 23 This has more sentimental value. And also, this is a hell of a lot quieter.

Speaker 14 Not that it matters after that landing.

Speaker 3 Look, none of this helps us know which way they went. You guys think there was a car waiting here or something?

Speaker 18 They would have had to know they were coming here ahead of time.

Speaker 18 Seemed like

Speaker 18 all this was kind of last minute, don't you think?

Speaker 3 Yeah, you're right. So so so then they'd be on foot.
So, so look for signs that might tell us where they went

Speaker 3 like blood. I mean, I mean, sure, if there was any, but that'd be right there on the ground.

Speaker 30 You got a flashlight or something?

Speaker 3 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's there's one on the right.

Speaker 3 You're

Speaker 3 you sure that's what that is? Yep.

Speaker 3 Well, can you tell whose it is?

Speaker 6 Can you calm down, lover boy?

Speaker 3 I just need to make sure

Speaker 23 we know

Speaker 18 we get it.

Speaker 23 Find her

Speaker 3 broken record, man.

Speaker 18 There's another drop over here.

Speaker 23 A few more. The trail's leading off this way.

Speaker 3 Wait,

Speaker 3 why would there be blood? Were they attacked?

Speaker 3 Did Vincent hurt her?

Speaker 3 I can't tell.

Speaker 23 It's not much to go off of, but

Speaker 23 they were headed for the trees.

Speaker 23 Bingo.

Speaker 23 Now this I can work with.

Speaker 25 You can?

Speaker 23 I was a tracker, remember?

Speaker 26 Yeah, how could I forget?

Speaker 23 Yeah, Yeah, well, it's gonna come in handy for you now.

Speaker 23 Okay, leaves have been disturbed here. Broken branch up ahead.

Speaker 3 Huh?

Speaker 23 I can tell where they're going much easier in this environment.

Speaker 23 No one else has come through this area in a while. Should be no problem.

Speaker 25 Okay, okay.

Speaker 3 Now we're getting somewhere.

Speaker 18 Um, there's infected out here,

Speaker 3 Yeah, this is this is the red zone.

Speaker 3 So yeah,

Speaker 23 never been anywhere near this part of the red zone before. I have no idea what may be out here.

Speaker 3 There's a chance that I might

Speaker 23 you still have that?

Speaker 4 What even is it?

Speaker 3 It's my my grandma's journal. She used to study them out in the field.
Wanted to help people know what they were up against.

Speaker 18 And she could only do that because she was immune.

Speaker 3 Not exactly. Being immune doesn't mean they won't kill you.

Speaker 3 She put herself at risk to do all of this.

Speaker 18 Does it say anything about the infected in this region?

Speaker 3 Southeast Red Zone. Deciduous woodland.
The dominant species in this biome are the muckrakers. Solitary species and incredibly territorial.

Speaker 3 Will lethally defend its hunting grounds even against other muckrakers. Known for burrowing and hiding just below the surface in the swamplands and ambushing as prey.
Slow, but strong.

Speaker 3 As long as you survive the initial attack, you have a good chance of getting away. Soft hide, usually under the neck, very thick everywhere else.

Speaker 3 The older they are, the more resilient their skin becomes. Resembles something like a cave troll from fictional materials.
Whew.

Speaker 3 Okay,

Speaker 23 then we watch where we step.

Speaker 18 Uh, could those tracks we're following be infected?

Speaker 5 No, they're definitely human.

Speaker 23 I can tell.

Speaker 14 These say a lot. Weight, height, direction.

Speaker 3 But that's not all.

Speaker 23 Hmm. Interesting.

Speaker 3 What?

Speaker 23 The two tracks here, the way the steps are laid out, they're both moving free, spaced apart.

Speaker 3 I I don't get it. Why does that even matter?

Speaker 23 This is Vera and Vincent, I'm sure. But as far as I can tell, she's not captive or anything.

Speaker 3 She's going willingly. Wait, wait, wait, what? What?

Speaker 3 Why the hell would she be doing that?

Speaker 23 Are we even going in the right direction?

Speaker 27 We're close, I'm sure.

Speaker 23 A few miles, my ass.

Speaker 27 Okay, maybe it's a little further than I remembered.

Speaker 27 Never had to walk from the airport before

Speaker 23 for being so

Speaker 3 special.

Speaker 23 This family could have chosen a better location.

Speaker 27 We're remote for a reason. Just need to find the right path.

Speaker 23 I swear, if you're leading me off to some wait,

Speaker 3 freeze.

Speaker 24 Don't move another inch.

Speaker 4 What?

Speaker 30 What is it?

Speaker 26 A trap.

Speaker 27 One of ours.

Speaker 3 How can you tell?

Speaker 27 I've had to make them before. They were once used to keep people away.
Now they're mostly for infected.

Speaker 3 What do we do?

Speaker 27 Just move backwards, slowly. And come around this direction.

Speaker 3 Good.

Speaker 3 Good.

Speaker 27 Okay.

Speaker 27 I think I found the route through. We're definitely close to the house.

Speaker 23 The house? That's where you're taking me? Some cabin in the woods?

Speaker 25 Kinda.

Speaker 27 But some describe it more like

Speaker 21 a mansion.

Speaker 3 Whoa.

Speaker 24 I know, right?

Speaker 23 How does no one know that this is here?

Speaker 23 It's as big as a castle.

Speaker 3 We have our ways.

Speaker 27 It's not that difficult. Not under any flight path or near any main roads.
And even if someone got past the traps, they'd never get through the gate. Not without one of these.

Speaker 23 A ring? What's so important about that?

Speaker 3 A lot.

Speaker 27 Most of the time, it's a status symbol. But in this case, it's the key.

Speaker 3 Literally.

Speaker 23 Okay, that's a little weird.

Speaker 27 I'd say cool, but that's just me.

Speaker 3 Du Does everyone have one of those?

Speaker 27 Once you earn it.

Speaker 23 What's with the nasty pighead above the gate?

Speaker 27 Sort of like an old mascot.

Speaker 27 Kind of long story.

Speaker 23 Doesn't look like anyone's here.

Speaker 27 That's intentional.

Speaker 3 Trust me.

Speaker 24 Our people are inside, waiting.

Speaker 23 I don't like this.

Speaker 27 You won't need your katana anymore. I told you.
You're safe now.

Speaker 23 Doesn't feel like it.

Speaker 27 If holding that makes you more comfortable, do whatever you want.

Speaker 3 After you.

Speaker 23 No.

Speaker 23 After you.

Speaker 21 Descendants will continue after a word from our sponsors.

Speaker 2 Popsicles, sprinklers, a cool breeze.

Speaker 12 Are you saying saying it was the off-field play that made the difference on the field?

Speaker 23 The lights are on in here, but you can't see anything from the outside.

Speaker 27 It's designed that way.

Speaker 3 This is.

Speaker 3 Wow.

Speaker 27 It's something, ain't it?

Speaker 23 Like it was pulled out of a fairy tale.

Speaker 27 Well, in a way, it is for royalty.

Speaker 3 What? You're here! Holy shh!

Speaker 23 You scared me!

Speaker 30 Took you long enough, Vincent.

Speaker 27 Do you know what we've been through today?

Speaker 3 You could have had a car at the airport?

Speaker 30 I wasn't able to get one together in time. They're all in use.
Maybe, if you'd given us more notice.

Speaker 26 What can I say?

Speaker 3 I got delayed.

Speaker 30 I don't mind you walking,

Speaker 30 but for you, my dear, I am very sorry we didn't have better arrangements. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Speaker 30 You wanna put that down, maybe?

Speaker 23 Not really.

Speaker 3 Vera, this is fingers.

Speaker 23 Obviously, a nickname?

Speaker 30 Yeah, that would be pretty cruel if it wasn't.

Speaker 27 Watch your pockets, hence the name.

Speaker 23 Not like I have anything on me.

Speaker 30 I know. I checked.

Speaker 3 What?

Speaker 30 Hands? Mine? QI test time. You know the drill.

Speaker 16 Here.

Speaker 3 Now you.

Speaker 3 Fine.

Speaker 3 Come along.

Speaker 30 I already prepped your rooms, working on getting you some clean clothes as well. Unless you want to keep wearing those god-awful nasty things.

Speaker 27 We were given these jumpsuits in prim.

Speaker 27 We've been through a lot.

Speaker 30 Well, we have plenty of hot water, and chef's preparing a late dinner for afterwards.

Speaker 23 How does this make any sense?

Speaker 30 It's really cute how she doesn't know.

Speaker 3 Right?

Speaker 30 Like, I can't even imagine what it'd be like all of this at once.

Speaker 23 I was promised answers.

Speaker 24 And you'll get them.

Speaker 27 Wasn't sure if I was the right person to tell you. Don't you want to get cleaned up first?

Speaker 23 I mean, yes, but I still don't.

Speaker 30 I can take that too, if you want. Your katana would get cleaned and sharpened in the armory.

Speaker 23 I'd rather hold on to it for now.

Speaker 27 She doesn't fully trust us.

Speaker 30 Didn't you say in your message that you drugged her and put her on a plane?

Speaker 7 Of course she wouldn't.

Speaker 7 Ooh.

Speaker 30 You do that to him?

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 27 Ow, yes, and I'm gonna probably need stitches.

Speaker 30 Well, then you probably deserved it.

Speaker 27 Whatever, I'm not taking this. I did what I needed to.
Now I'm gonna go get clean. You have no idea how gross this feels.

Speaker 27 Here, you can at least take mine to the arms room. I'm exhausted.

Speaker 30 Oh, hey, my offer was for her. Walk your own happy ass down there.

Speaker 3 Thank you. I appreciate it.

Speaker 30 Because it's his house. He thinks he can do what he wants.

Speaker 3 Okay.

Speaker 30 You'll understand what that means soon enough.

Speaker 23 Hey, Vincent told me I could call home once I got here.

Speaker 30 Uh, that that will be tricky, okay? Not like, you know, picking up the phone in the old days, but I'll ask.

Speaker 30 First, and I'm gonna be real honest with you, you know, girl to girl, you should really rinse off. Yeah, I could smell you both coming through the door.

Speaker 27 That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 23 Look, all I care about right now is that call. None of this feels right.

Speaker 3 It will.

Speaker 30 Gonna take a while to arrange with comms anyway. One step at a time.
And that first step you need to take is hosing your funky ass down.

Speaker 30 Alright, now, this way, your room's upstairs.

Speaker 3 My room?

Speaker 23 Wait, how many floors are there?

Speaker 30 Three above and some more below. Ask me about those later.

Speaker 27 Mine is in the west wing.

Speaker 24 I'll see you both soon.

Speaker 23 This all seems so crazy.

Speaker 30 This is just the beginning.

Speaker 3 Any signs of them? Are we even going the right way? You sure they went this far into the forest?

Speaker 23 I'll pick up the trail again. Give me time.

Speaker 4 Whoa, you see that trailer back there?

Speaker 18 It was completely taken over by the trees.

Speaker 23 They'll do that. And the land is taking back over.

Speaker 23 The marks we've left here are finally starting to heal.

Speaker 23 Speaking of marks. What?

Speaker 3 You found something?

Speaker 23 Moss has been scraped off these rocks over here.

Speaker 23 It definitely came this way. This was recent.

Speaker 18 How can you even see?

Speaker 18 Can you turn on your light?

Speaker 23 Do that, and it'll take even longer for our eyes to adjust. Leave it off.

Speaker 3 Okay, fine. Yeah, she's right.
Just keep a lookout for anything out of the ordinary.

Speaker 18 I've never even seen any of these kinds of plants before. Never even been around this many trees.
I don't even know what would be different.

Speaker 18 It's all just making me real nervous around here.

Speaker 3 Just stay close, alright? She knows what to look for.

Speaker 3 How are you feeling, Nokoma?

Speaker 3 Fine.

Speaker 23 Dark completely wore off.

Speaker 25 Well, that's good.

Speaker 25 Huh.

Speaker 23 There's a clearing up ahead, but I don't trust this place either. Feels off.

Speaker 19 What?

Speaker 3 Why?

Speaker 23 I need to get a better view.

Speaker 3 You go right on ahead. I am so done climbing trees.
Stay down here. Thank you very much.

Speaker 3 You hear that?

Speaker 18 Is that normal?

Speaker 3 No, no, no, no. That was definitely weird.
Nakoma, hurry it up, alright?

Speaker 23 Give me at least two seconds. Come on.

Speaker 23 You see anything? What the fuck is that?

Speaker 3 Oh, no. What? What? What is it?

Speaker 23 It's like a big-ass estate.

Speaker 30 Giant brick palace.

Speaker 3 Wait, seriously?

Speaker 23 Got an outer stone wall?

Speaker 14 Huge gate.

Speaker 23 Running fountain and everything.

Speaker 3 Anyone in there?

Speaker 23 Don't see anybody, but... It's definitely not abandoned.

Speaker 23 Someone keeps this place up.

Speaker 3 You think that's what Vincent took her?

Speaker 23 There's no other place we've seen around here.

Speaker 7 This has to be it.

Speaker 23 Tracks lead in that direction.

Speaker 3 Alright. Well, hurry up and get down here.
We'll need to figure out the best way to go. For all of you!

Speaker 3 Traps.

Speaker 3 No shit.

Speaker 18 Well,

Speaker 18 don't move.

Speaker 3 I'm not.

Speaker 18 Nick, you okay?

Speaker 3 Yes, but...

Speaker 3 Ah. Damn, I hurt my leg.

Speaker 3 Can someone cut me down?

Speaker 23 You're lucky that was just a snare trap, not something lethal.

Speaker 3 Oh, I am so glad.

Speaker 3 Can you please do something for all the blood rushes to my head?

Speaker 18 You say so.

Speaker 18 Ah,

Speaker 20 not exactly what I had in mind.

Speaker 3 You're welcome.

Speaker 18 Someone made this trap, so there has to be more.

Speaker 23 I see another one right now, up ahead. They're probably all around the perimeter.
We'll have to find another clear way through.

Speaker 18 You really okay, Nick?

Speaker 3 Yeah, I'll be fine.

Speaker 3 I mean, this is a good sign, right? It means there's gotta be people living here. Oh, for sure.

Speaker 23 This trap isn't that old. Its trigger was cut recently.

Speaker 3 We have to find our way inside.

Speaker 3 Who knows what kind of sick shit Bear is going through right now?

Speaker 3 Oh my god.

Speaker 3 This is amazing.

Speaker 3 Relax, it's just me.

Speaker 30 Hey, I found something that should be your size. The outfit's on your bed, and dinner's almost ready.

Speaker 30 You don't have to carry that thing around, you know. Having a big ol' open blade in the bathroom is definitely not the safest idea.

Speaker 23 I'm keeping it with me.

Speaker 30 Suit yourself.

Speaker 30 I hope you like this dress. It's the best I could do on short notice.

Speaker 23 A dress? No, I'm not wearing that. Just some pants and a pants?

Speaker 30 No, absolutely not. Not to this.

Speaker 23 Why does it matter what I wear? I don't even know why I'm doing this.

Speaker 30 You ever have events in Westport where you had to gussy up a bit? Someone important around you want to impress?

Speaker 23 I'm not here to impress anyone. I want to get this all over with as quickly as possible and just get back home.

Speaker 30 Well, like I said, this is the first step.

Speaker 30 Or the second step now.

Speaker 30 Jeff prepared special gumbo and even fresh beignets. The food here is about as good as you're ever gonna get, and I mean that.

Speaker 30 We all want to make sure you feel welcome. And who knows, you may actually start to enjoy yourself.

Speaker 23 It is a nice dress.

Speaker 30 Yeah, I love that color blue.

Speaker 30 It's actually mine, but I think you should have it.

Speaker 23 Um,

Speaker 3 thanks.

Speaker 30 I'll be waiting for you down the hall.

Speaker 30 Trust me,

Speaker 30 this is going to be a night you'll never forget.

Speaker 27 I hate wearing this suit.

Speaker 25 It's so itchy.

Speaker 30 Well, you lost a little weight. That was the only one that I could find at fit that wouldn't make you look like you're wearing Big Brother hand-me-downs.

Speaker 27 Thanks, but no thanks.

Speaker 3 You sure she knows where to go?

Speaker 30 Uh-huh. She should be just another minute.
I told her where the dining room was.

Speaker 27 You don't think she left?

Speaker 30 I have someone watching the cameras. She wouldn't get very far.
But I don't think it'll come to that. I could see it in her eyes.

Speaker 27 You sure?

Speaker 3 I am.

Speaker 3 See?

Speaker 30 I was hoping you didn't get lost.

Speaker 23 This place is big enough to.

Speaker 23 I'm sure it'll happen.

Speaker 23 And that

Speaker 23 is a big ass table.

Speaker 23 How many people are here or live here exactly?

Speaker 30 Say told you. She's dying to know more.

Speaker 3 Wow.

Speaker 26 You look amazing.

Speaker 23 Fuck off. Can we eat already?

Speaker 27 Devil in a blue dress.

Speaker 30 Can I take your katana? I

Speaker 30 don't think it'll look good laying across the nice tablecloths.

Speaker 23 No, I told you I want it close.

Speaker 30 Hey, look, I get it. Keeping a weapon nearby for comfort.
But maybe you might consider something a little smaller for the occasion? Like this one?

Speaker 30 Easy to conceal in a dress.

Speaker 3 Oh.

Speaker 27 She just likes to show off her fancy kunai knife. Bit of a family relic.

Speaker 30 You know it.

Speaker 23 You carry that around, but still want to take away mine? And you wonder why I don't trust you, people.

Speaker 3 Oh, come on.

Speaker 30 I was only playing. I'm just trying to get you to relax.

Speaker 23 That isn't playing. I'm keeping this with me.
Thank you.

Speaker 3 I don't care how it looks.

Speaker 30 Suit yourself. It's not like it would matter anyway.
That katana's big and slow.

Speaker 3 It's better to be quick and quiet.

Speaker 27 And you are neither.

Speaker 29 Stick to picking pockets.

Speaker 24 It's what you're good at.

Speaker 30 Vincent, don't try me. I would hate to have to cut a bitch twice in one night.

Speaker 23 You're just like him, aren't you?

Speaker 30 Like Vincent? No, absolutely not. Luckily, no one's like this asshole.

Speaker 3 Aw, thank you.

Speaker 30 But I will say, being part of the family comes with a certain amount of expectations.

Speaker 3 This

Speaker 3 being one of them.

Speaker 23 Being part of what? Are you finally gonna tell me? Can we get this over with?

Speaker 27 We're about to.

Speaker 27 He's here.

Speaker 23 Who's here?

Speaker 30 Vera, your seat is in the middle of the dining table on the left. I don't care where you put your blade.
Just stand when he comes in. It's a sign of respect.

Speaker 11 Who?

Speaker 24 Oh, I can't wait for this. Shh.

Speaker 20 But I know me too.

Speaker 23 I don't like this.

Speaker 3 You will.

Speaker 30 Good evening, sir.

Speaker 27 Hey, hey, we made it. I'm back.

Speaker 3 What?

Speaker 26 It took a lot to get here.

Speaker 24 You have no idea.

Speaker 3 Look, I don't know who you are, and I I don't fucking care.

Speaker 23 I want to go home right now.

Speaker 23 And if I have to cut my way out of here, I will.

Speaker 3 Vera.

Speaker 30 I am so sorry, sir. She doesn't mean that.
We cannot.

Speaker 23 I mean every word of it.

Speaker 22 I'm sure you do.

Speaker 22 Honestly, I wouldn't have expected anything different.

Speaker 22 You really do have so much of your mother in you.

Speaker 22 What?

Speaker 22 I'm sorry. I know this is all very sudden and new to you, but I already know so much about you, Vera.

Speaker 22 You have no idea how long I've waited for this moment.

Speaker 23 That makes one of us.

Speaker 27 Have you figured out who that is yet?

Speaker 29 No.

Speaker 22 I'm the patriarch of the family. Used to go by an alias years ago, Jeremy.

Speaker 23 So? Is that supposed to mean something to me?

Speaker 26 It should,

Speaker 22 Vera Zhang.

Speaker 22 My real name is Oliver Blackburn.

Speaker 22 I'm your father.

Speaker 10 It was the new game Day Scratchers from the California Lottery.

Speaker 10 Those games sent the team's energy through the roof.

Speaker 12 Are you saying it was the off-field play that made the difference on the field?
