You know, because for so long, players are just getting taken advantage of.

Like, you know, we didn't have, I didn't have any extra money.

I didn't have,

you know, I didn't have anything, bro.

We were literally living broke, which is fine.

You know, Bill's character or whatever, but I think it's a good thing and a bad thing for these young guys because, you know, money changes people.

Right.

There is a downside to making that much of that young, I think, too.

All right, guys, we are at CPT.

Got cash is here.

He is one of the first, unfortunately, to be eliminated.

Yeah, yeah, unfortunately, man.

I won like four or five hands.

Like, it was looking good, and then I lost on a bunch of good hands.

So I felt like I played a good game, but that's how it goes.

Poker is poker.

You're better at Magic the Gathering.

Much better.

If this was a Magic the Gathering tournament, hands down, it wouldn't have been no effort.

What's the skill to luck ratio in Magic the Gathering compared to poker?

Is it more skill-based?

It's definitely more skill-based and like knowledge-based for sure.

You definitely play the numbers.

You know how to

analyze the board and all that good stuff.

But yeah, it's based on how well you play your deck.

And there's some interaction.

It's a super complicated game.

It's even hard to talk about it.

Really?

Is it more complicated than Yu-Gi-Oh!

Way more.

I mean, Yu-Gi-Oh!

Like, original Yu-Gi-Oh!, probably the Yu-Gi-Oh!

that you think about was way simpler.

It's changed now.

It's become quite complex, but Magic of the Gathering is by far the most complicated and interactive game,

like trading card game.

Do you like the playing aspect of Magic or the collecting or both?

Like, how do you view it?

I like both, man.

I think ever since I became like a store owner, it kind of changed my perspective on

collecting.

I'm a little bit, I'm just more knowledgeable now.

So I collect a lot more of the high-end stuff, like the rarer things that

don't typically depreciate.

They always appreciate in value.

So, you know,

I started off as a player, became like a hardcore collector, and I'm still,

I'd say, I'm somewhere around both.

I think the game is just the funnest part of the best part about it.

So, I'd say I'm more of a player than a collector, but I definitely,

yeah, I got wrecked because I was collecting all the new shit and that stuff crashed, right?

With the magic stuff, no, with uh, basketball and football and stuff, you know, basketball, the sports market is definitely seeing a trend upwards.

Uh, Fanatics is doing a great job of like bringing the players into it because I think that's a weird thing about the past is that like players had no idea that the trading card industry was even a thing and like how much money people are making, like the memorabilia side of things as well.

Yeah.

So sports is definitely trending upwards.

And it's like football and basketball are like kind of like day trading.

So

when you get something now, like when you get a big hit now, like you get a big time quarterback or whatever, you want to get your value out of it pretty quickly you know because you're betting on players and football and basketball are so one injury and then go down 20 the next day one injury one like mess up off the field you know what i mean you kind of like these guys have to keep like perfect like they have to stay perfect to like maximize the value so you really it's really a gamble yeah baseball is more of a sure

i say baseball is like blue chip stocks

more like set yeah because like their prospects like their number one like their top 15 top 30 prospects typically don't miss, bro.

They typically don't miss.

They end up being good players.

They get a lot of time.

And then like Shohei Otani, like nobody saw him coming.

But if you were collecting baseball at the time, like and you got a bunch of Shohei Otani cards, like

you're chilling.

You're, yeah, you're, you're, you're doing very well.

A bunch of those right now, like a rookie, PSA 10, Otani.

Depends like what, you know, how rare it is, like, you know, what it, what it's out of.

But like, you know, six figures, and I'm sure there's some seven figure Otani cards out there for sure.

yeah and um

yeah baseball baseball is definitely like if you had to rank the value wise i would go baseball football basketball wow as an nba fan that's yeah i i put a lot of money in those

basketball though well i don't know though because basketball has got like jordan cards are crazy kobe cards are crazy that's where i messed up i went too modern i was in the hype like i was buying zion jamaran like

those because look you see you know you know zion's doing things and Jaws doing things.

If I were to redo it, I would have got like Kobe.

I would have got Tim Duncan.

Yes.

Whatever.

Tim Duncan.

Yeah, like guys that are just like, you know, they're not going to, you know.

But yeah, basketball, basketball is interesting.

Like I said, it's like day stock.

So like, you know, whoever the best, like Cooper flags coming out.

Yeah.

If you get a big Cooper flag hit coming up here in the next like year or so,

I would flip it.

I would like wait for him to have like a big, his first big like rookie game the tri-light from therisage is no joke medical grade red and near infrared light with three frequencies per light deep healing real results and totally portable it's legit photo bio modulation tech in a flexible on body panel this is the tri-light from therisage and it's next level red light therapy it's got 118 high-powered polychromatic lights each delivering three healing frequencies red and near infrared from 580 to 980 nanometers optimal penetration enhanced energy skin rejuvenation pain relief, better performance, quicker recovery, and so much more.

Therasage has been leading the game for over 25 years and this panel is FDA listed and USB powered.

Ultra soft and flexible and ultra-portable.

On-body red light therapy I use daily and I take it everywhere I travel.

This is the Thera 03 Ozone module from Therasage.

It's a portable ozone and negative ion therapy in one.

It boosts oxygen, clears and sanitizes the air, and even helps your mood.

It's a total game changer at home or on the go.

This little device is the Thera O3 Ozone Module by Therasage and it's one of my favorite wellness tools.

In the Sauna, it boosts ozone absorption through your skin up to 10 times, oxygenating your blood and supporting deep detox.

Outside the sauna, it purifies the air, killing germs, bacteria, viruses, and mold, and it improves mood and sleep.

A negative ion therapy.

It's compact, rechargeable, and perfect for travel, planes, offices, hotel rooms, you name it.

It's like carrying clean energy wherever you go.

This is a Thera H2Go from Therasage, the only bottle with molecular hydrogen structured water and red light in water.

It hydrates, energizes, and detoxes water upgrades.

The Thera H2GO from Therasage isn't just a water bottle.

It's next level hydration.

It infuses your water with molecular hydrogen, one of the most powerful antioxidants out there.

That means less oxidative stress, more energy, and faster recovery.

But here's what makes it stand out.

It's the only bottle that also structures your water and adds red light to supercharge it.

It's sleek, portable, and honestly, I don't go anywhere without it.

And then I put that thing on the market and get my money out of it and keep, you know, and keep it.

Yeah, you got to be more calculated these days with it.

100%.

It's like, it's like a stock market, bro.

Yeah.

You know, like if you just put your money into something, you don't pay attention to it and you don't see like the shelf life and all that type of stuff, like you'll lose money.

What's the biggest come up you've had on a single card?

That is a very good question actually was it a magic card you think or was it sports

that's a good question you don't even know that's a good question i you know i i i'm like buying and flipping so constantly now that i don't i don't really uh i mean what i will say is i bought a a full play set a play set is like in magic is is four of a single card so i bought a full play set of what's called dualands

probably like

my second year in the league and i bought them for like really cheap.

I think I bought them for

seven or eight K, which is, you know.

Were they ungraded?

Ungraded, just like playable cards.

And like now a full play set of like dual lands is probably like 30, 30K.

Holy 40K, something like that.

8 to 10X.

Yeah, but

that was like a one-time thing.

And Magic, Magic, you can make money on the reserve list stuff.

Reserve list?

Yeah,

every trading card has its different, like, they're all different markets.

Pokemon is its own different market.

Like, modern Pokemon right now is crazy.

You know, there's this Team Rocket set coming out.

You know, distributors buy it for like 85, 90, 95 bucks, and they're going to turn around and sell it for like 400.

Holy crap.

So they make 4X.

Yeah.

On

Pokemon is just insanity.

Damn.

Can you even, as a store owner, can you even get access to that stuff?

Yeah, I mean, I've got to get good allocation because, you know, I've spent a lot of money with these distributors and stuff like that.

And I got in just in time.

Nice.

So that's a good business model for you.

You know, it's been great, bro.

I'm blessed, man, to

turn a hobby into a business and something that I really love and I'm passionate about.

Like, I've been grateful to

make money playing the sport I love, football, and then, you know, got to make money playing trading cards, messing around with trading cars.

So I've been lucky, man.

It's like you're still a child.

It's still all the things you like throwing on.

Yeah, yeah, for sure.

I get to like, I'll, you know, wake up, work out, hoop.

You know, we got to go hoop, bro.

Yeah, we got to play, bro.

We got to go hoop.

Are you in town tomorrow?

Are you dipping tonight?

I'm dipping, bro.

I just, um, I've been on, I've been on the road a lot.

Yeah, you were in Miami, you were, yeah.

So, I'm like, you know, I want to go home.

It's Mother's Day on Sunday as well, too.

I got to get up out of here, go make mom some Alaskan King crab legs.

You know,

H Mart just opened up here.

Have you been to H Mart?

Where are they?

H Mart in Vegas now?

Oh, H Mart's my favorite, bro, but it's in downtown, so it's hard to get.

Oh, but dude, they got a king crab sale right now, so $22 a pound.

I love H Mart.

I bought like eight pounds.

They make the best snacks, their fruits are always so good.

I love Hart.

H.

Mart's the

Hmm.

Shout out to H Marty.

Shout out to moms, too.

Happy Mother's Day, mom.

I love you.

Yeah, I sent my mom some flowers and getting that text from her made my whole month.

You know what I mean?

Like they came in today.

And

yeah, it's funny how the simple things like that can just.

That's all my mom wants is some flowers, spend time with her son.

Yeah.

I mean, that's, she's, yeah.

Moms are the best, bro.

Yeah, my mom, man, single.

I'm a single child, so I tore up the house.

You know, I do parties.

Oh, bro.

I wouldn't dare.

My mom's, my mom scared scared me.

She scared me for the longest, bro.

I would have never thrown a party.

Yeah.

She was strict.

But like, I was grateful to have like some buddies who had, like, I went to a private school.

I went to Oaks Christian.

So, you know, we had buddies that parents would just let you throw crazy parties at their big old like mansions in Westlake Village and stuff.

So I was fortunate.

I never had to resort to throwing parties at my mom's house.

You can't hide anything in Holly Ann's house.

One little.

One little dirty floor here or just one thing misplaced.

She sees it all.

Damn, she's sharp.

She's sharp.

She's still in the same house.

Yeah, yeah.

Same house I grew up in.

Nice.

She's still there.

Let's go.

That's cool, man.

What does she do?

What was her job?

Oh, she's an escrow officer.

Escrow officer.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

She's been doing that for at least 20 years, maybe 25 years.

Nice.

Yeah.

Before that, she was a school teacher.

And, but I got kicked out of the school that she was teaching at.

I got to hear that story.

I mean, you know, I just like,

honestly, to make a short, long story short, a kid took my toy and threw it over a fence and I just, I just, I just whooped his ass, you know,

it probably wasn't terrible, but like, you know.

What was a toy?

Like, actually, I don't, I couldn't even tell you exactly what the toy was.

I just knew like it was mine.

And he threw it over the fence and I was hot and I just refed him up.

And that was kind of last straw type of thing for sure.

See, I was attached to my, my biggest L, one of my biggest l's in life is giving away my pokemon and you gumon yu-gio collection oh my god do you know how many people like have have experienced that whether they gave it away or their parents gave it away or sold it garage sale crazy bro dude that's probably worth six figures right now oh i mean i'm sure if you had i had charizards i had blast toys all the yu-gio if you were a real collector and you had multiples of like the starting stuff yeah yeah you definitely you know and the thing with pokemon was is nobody really played with the cards It was just like collecting.

Yeah, I had it in binders.

Yeah, put it in binders.

Yeah, because if you played with it, they weren't PSAs.

You know who else had that similar experience?

Bradley Martin.

Really?

So Bradley, a couple years back, told me about he had a bunch of Pokemon cards growing up.

And he went to college and he was, you know, you go to college, you move from dorm to dorm and apartment to apartment.

And he said he was walking through campus and just dumped his whole binder in like some random trash can.

Damn.

R.I.P., bro.

R.I.P.

for sure, just throwing away like a...

Did you keep all your old stuff?

I didn't.

You know, I didn't grow up with a ton of money.

You know, my mom definitely took care of me and was, she did the most that she could, but

I didn't have too much to give away, honestly.

I feel that.

Yeah, they were kind of expensive, honestly.

I mean,

any extra expense when you're just trying to make it month to month is something.

Even if it's 100 bucks on a booster box, like 100 bucks is 100.

But 100 bucks is two pairs of shoes, you know?

I only got three pairs of shoes for every school year.

Van.

Yeah, three three pairs of vans.

I go to OG black and whites, the reds, and the blues.

Wow.

And the football cleats, too.

Yeah, cleats were a part of it, too.

Cleats were a part of it, too.

Yeah, man.

Times have changed.

Now

they got the NIL money now.

You could have been making six figures.

Oh, the NIL stuff is crazy.

Yeah.

It's crazy.

I mean, I was a top, I think I was like rivals, like number 33 player in the nation or something like that.

I could have been making

half a million year

easily.

Damn.

And then I was a four-year starter as well at UCLA, bro.

So I definitely would have been getting a check.

But I'm so glad that it's changed now, you know, because for so long, players were just getting taken advantage of.

Like, you know, we didn't have, I didn't have any extra money.

I didn't have,

you know, I didn't have anything, bro.

We were, we were literally living broke, which is, which is fine.

You know, Bill's character or whatever, but I think it's a good thing and a bad thing for these young guys.

You know, money changes people.

Right.

There is a downside to making that much that young, I think, too.

Absolutely.

Mentally.

It can get in the way.

It can get in the way if you don't have the proper guidance.

Yeah, I think it can ruin some potential.

Because you start making a million a year at 18.

You're not trying as hard sometimes.

You get, I mean, it's just like, it's like when

big time players get these, these massive contracts, you know, and sometimes, not all the time, but like sometimes they just get comfortable, you know, they don't play as hard.

They don't work as hard.

Yeah.

You know?

I hope you guys are enjoying the show.

Please don't forget to like and subscribe.

It helps the show a lot with the algorithm.

Thank you.

It's scary paying guys a lot of money.

Especially with college, like, you know, I had, I, I can think of a lot of like big-time recruits that never panned out, you know, never even became starters because of injuries in college.

Injuries, behavioral issues, just like, you know,

football, anything, you know how sports is, bro.

Just all the little things, they add up.

Dude, average NFL career, two years now.

Is it really that?

2.5, yeah.

2.4, I think.

It was 3.3 when I left.

Yeah, it's only getting worse because they're just cycling running backs.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It's, i mean they'd rather pay less than just have a younger guy

it's yeah i mean i think that's really where the league is going in general is like if you're not like a

high-level starter you know they just go younger yeah you know

because you get injured now they'll just pick someone up they'll drop you it just depends on who you are man it depends on how how uh how special you are as a player you know and everything is about right system right time right place especially defensively i mean

football is a, it's, it's a trip, bro.

Sports in general, man.

It's just, there's so much more involved in it than I think a lot of people, like the average person thinks, you know, a lot of politics.

A lot of politics.

I mean, you learn that.

I definitely learned that, bro.

Like, some of the best camps I ever had, like,

I probably had my best camp ever with,

I think it was back-to-back years.

I had my best camp with Jacksonville Jaguars, and the next year I had an amazing camp with the Steelers.

And I ended up getting released from both those teams at one point.

Damn.

Obviously, I finished out the seasons with other other teams, but

it's not always about who the best player is, which is crazy.

I wonder what their, did they tell you why they released you or not?

It was, they never tell you, they never give you the real, like,

crazy part.

Actually, the timing was crazy in Jacksonville.

I, uh,

I was having like a crazy camp.

I had a really good practice.

And one of the writers came out and said, like, oh, Cassius Marsh is like primed to have a Pro Bowl type season.

And that next week, they switched my position and like stopped giving me reps no way yeah bro is that because when you make the pro bowl they got to pay you more is it similar to the nba but i think it's just like well they drafted a first round defensive end in my position and i was outplaying their current guy who was also like a pro bowl level type player yeah and you know it's just like all about like you know the way the gm looks and all that good stuff and like i didn't even think about that coaches have their guys gms have their guys because they'll get fired if they make bad picks so they want to yeah like if your first round picks not panning out you know then it looks bad on you right damn i wonder if there's a fix to that salute because that doesn't sound optimal for the team it but it's the jacksonville jaguars so it's like it's it's like listen i got a lot i got love for duval my dad played for the jaguars on their first team ever so it's all love but like organizationally they're they're one of the worst for sure yeah yeah makes you wonder um if the top teams have just more accountability right well they just they just like san Francisco, they do things right.

They take good care of players.

You know, they, they bring in good coaches.

Um, they do, they do everything the right way.

Uh, Seahawks are similar.

Um, Patriots have their own recipe as well.

It worked for a while, but now it's.

Yeah, but like organizationally, though, like they do the right stuff.

Like in the building, they take really good player, good care of the players as far as like treatment, food.

like you know giving you access to the things that you need um the steelers were pretty good as well but like the teams that consistently win, you know, like the

organizations that you look at as like a top organization, there's a reason for it.

They take more care of everyone.

They just do everything better top to bottom.

Yeah.

Do you think that partially is a money thing?

Like they have more money?

I mean, forgive me if I'm wrong, but Jacksonville's owner is like very, very wealthy.

Oh, yeah.

I don't think that he's.

short on funds by any means, but like, you know, I could be wrong.

But,

I mean, mean, money's always a factor in everything.

So, you know, who knows?

Because you look at these big, like, NBA teams, and it's always like the same big market teams making the finals.

How crazy is it that

have you heard the whole conspiracy theory behind Luca?

No, which one?

So, there's a conspiracy theory behind Luca.

The reason why they got rid of Luca is because the Dallas Mavericks' new owners have been trying to move the team to Vegas.

But because Dallas already has like a very strong fan base and like, you know, Dallas is a good market, They don't want to do it.

So the theory is that the owners traded Luca to tank the team and try and basically get the team to move to Vegas.

No way.

Because they want to have a con they want to build a casino there.

The people who own the team are like, they own a bunch of casinos and they want to do a casino in Dallas and the city want to prove it.

Yeah.

Holy crap.

Yeah.

That's a theory though.

That's a theory.

I mean, I could see it, but they still got, well, who'd they get for Luca?

They got ADs.

So I feel like next season, they won't be that bad.

Well, they're not going to be terrible, but like you trade Luca, who's a generational type of player.

He could, you know, if he loses some weight.

I could see that.

And they pushed Cuban out.

He's gone, right?

Yeah, yeah.

And they pissed off like Dirk Nowitzki.

It doesn't really mess with the organization right now.

And Cuban's, I think Cuban's still involved in some capacity.

Minor, though.

But he said on camera that he would never trade Luca.

So it's up to him.

Yeah, yeah.

Everybody was pissed about it.

So like I feel it makes me feel like there's something there.

Damn, that's wild.

Well, the Lakers had a rough playoff.

Are you a Lakers fan?

I am a Lakers fan, man.

I put on for any team that's that's LA.

Yeah.

So at least you got the MOB last year, right?

Yeah, Dodgers.

Dodgers are crushed it.

Dodgers might win for the next three or four, man.

They're ridiculous.

Dude, if he's healthy, I mean...

The way that they do the contracts where they defer

so smart.

So smart.

Don't you wish you did that?

I wish.

I wish.

I mean, like, but, you know, the way baseball players get paid, though, is so much different bro it's all fully guaranteed and like yeah oh it's all guaranteed oh yeah damn even if they get injured even if they get injured yeah yeah wow do you think more sports should do that i mean i think with football it's tough because the injury rate is so high but i i mean as much damage as we inflict onto our bodies particularly i think that the one thing that the nfl should do is um is the lifetime insurance thing i think you know the obviously you know guys those deserve more money and everything like that But I think, you know, the lifetime insurance is, is more of a thing because if you think about it, like, say you're 6'6,

320.

Well, after your insurance goes out and you're, and you show up, you try and get insurance with somebody, you're 6'6, 320.

You're obese in their eyes.

On paper, right?

On paper, you're obese.

And so like trying to get insurance just becomes crazy expensive.

And then like, you know, say you have a bunch of injuries, you got a torn ACL, you got a, a messed up shoulder, you know, you got like, you know, brain stuff, like all the CTE, all the chances of CTE, everything like that.

You just become, you know, kind of impossible to insure.

So I think if anything, you know, the NFL could definitely do more there.

I wonder what the UFC does for that.

They must have.

I don't think the UFC is doing

that.

Too much

insurance-wise, but I don't know.

I don't know.

I mean, you know, we'll have to ask Kobe Covington.

Yeah, we'll have to ask him and see what it's looking like.

I know they go to the hospital right after their fights.

He was, I think he was at my, I think, no, Kobe Covington was at my table.

He was an MMA guy at my table.

God, he's a fighter.

He had the cauliflower ears.

Okay.

I didn't introduce myself.

Oh, was it Henry Cejudo?

I think so.

Yeah, it was Henry.

I was like, Henry was wild, bro.

No, he was bluffing.

I saw his hand.

He was.

He was.

It's all good and fun, bro.

Like, I love the fighters, man.

They're just always down for to get rowdy.

I love their nonsense.

Yeah.

Society needs more of that these days.

Yeah, for sure.
