Thank you, Jesus.

Thank you, Lord.

Welcome to another edition of He the Call, the Super Bowl 59 recap.

Dan Hans is here, Mark Sessler, live on YouTube, just about, let's say, about 20 minutes after the Philadelphia Eagles won their second Super Bowl championship in team history, 40 to 22, spanking the Chiefs, denying Kansas City a shot at history and a third straight

Lombardi trophy.

Dan Hans is here.

Mark Sessler, Sess Dog, here we are.

You know, in past years, we've been at the game and

the games that we've been at, always gorgeous, beautiful contest.

It went down to the very end.

Am I connecting dots that we're not there and the game is a grizzly ball?

I think you are.

I'm doing it.

I'm doing it.

But yeah, congratulations to the Eagles.

We're going to get into all of it.

And we're going to have our correspondents that are at the stadium right now at the Superdome to give us a bird's eye view on both sides of things.

But there you go.

Speaking of the birds, they're the champs.

Well, it's funny because we spent our Thursday preview show with Connor and Jordan arguing over who would possess Vic Fongio as a friend or a mate.

What a masterpiece.

It's kind of like one of those games.

We grew up back in the 80s where Super Bowls like for like eight years, nine, 10 years in a row were just wipeouts.

And it was like you get to this point and then there'd just be absolute blowouts of Super Bowls.

Tonight felt like one of those nights and it was a Vic Fangio special.

It was.

He really he figured out Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs very early and like,

I don't know,

this to me felt kind of like a, and I'm not saying in a negative way, but like a week 10 game where like one team just dominated the other.

You got to go back and figure it out.

But this was the Super Bowl, so you can't.

Yes, and the Super Bowl obviously makes it all feel much bigger, but it felt, yeah, that by the time you got to the third quarter, and this is a game that's 24-0 at halftime,

that we were just counting down the minutes until it became official.

And Vic definitely deserves credit and very smart by our smart analysts, Connor and Jordan, for kind of being in a race to claim him as someone that could make a big difference in this game.

But I also don't want to short, I mean, we heard to start the show just now, Nick Siriani.

I obviously am not a huge Siriani fan.

Do I think that Nick Siriani, by winning this game, should be seen as one of the top five head coaches in the NFL?

No, of course not.

I'm still not there.

But you cannot take away that they had two weeks, just like, and this goes totally opposite of what I was talking about last Thursday.

I was saying, man, you give Andy Reid and Spags two weeks and an Eagles team that accepting that NFC championship performance, which was lights out all the way around, has seemed vulnerable and teetering at times.

And it just felt to me that.

that would favor Kansas City.

And I liked the Chiefs in a close game.

The fact that the Eagles, yes, Fangio, but also, yes, Kellen Moore, and yes, Nick Siriani.

And then, of course, the the entire Eagles team putting together, I thought, when you look at,

and I did a little digging, Mark, because we've been watching Super Bowls for a while now.

And I was thinking to myself, when was the last time we saw a Super Bowl champion absolutely stomp the opponent in the NFC title game or the conference championship game, then go to the Super Bowl and do the same thing?

And I kept on, I was like, oh, what about, you know, the Seahawks, Legion of Boom?

No, it was a little bit of a dogfight in the NFC title game, and then they beat up on the Broncos.

Every time I came upon a blowout in the Super Bowl, I would go back to the conference championship game, and I would see a closer game.

I had to go all the way back to the 2000 Ravens, who...

beat up on the Raiders, really suffocated the Raiders 16-3, and

the Raiders in that game had less than 200 total yards, and then they boat raced the Giants 34-7, and they ended up outscoring their two opponents in the last two games, 50 to 10.

There was a lot of lipstick thrown on the pig for the Chiefs in this game to make this look closer than the final score 40-22.

But at the end of the day, the Eagles destroy the Commanders and the Chiefs, putting up, what, 95 points in the final two games?

And the same thing that I said

and I and many other people were wrong about the Eagles because what we didn't see and what I should have seen and a lot of people now see because it seems clear is that they had all the pieces

in place to go on a dominant playoff run.

And they didn't really ever put it all together until the two biggest games of the season.

So, what can you say?

This was a beautifully built team by Howie Roseman, and the coaching staff did a great job.

And the players, led by Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, but that defense, which totally destroyed Patrick Mahomes, that front four, which did all the work, Mark.

This is an absolute masterclass

from a front four that was able to pressure Patrick Mahomes nearly half of his drop backs without blitzing a single time.

That's a historic stat that will live on forever for the Eagles.

Well, yeah,

it was total domination.

You know, we saw a possession in the first half where Mahomes was sacked twice and then threw a pick six, the first pick six of his postseason career.

Like, everything that has not happened to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs happened in this game.

They had 23 yards at the half.

To solve that and just to take them out of possessions time after time and do what they did.

And we all, and I thought like my fearless prediction was that Saquon Barkley would have 200 plus yards and he'd be the story of the game.

You could argue that Saquon Barkley had one of his least effective, it wasn't because he wasn't talented, but they didn't need him to be dominant, like least effective performances of the season.

And they absolutely blew the doors off the Chiefs.

It really was the Eagles' defense.

And to me, it was just like they found a way to do what no one else has done.

They found a way to solve the Kansas City offense.

And we didn't get any, we thought, you know, Andrew, Andy Reid would come with like four or five big surprise plays and moments.

Like there was just, they choked the life out of them.

There was no opportunity for that to happen.

It was a very unusual Chiefs game.

We've not seen the Chiefs suffer this way.

You could talk about the Bucs Super Bowl loss where they lost both.

Your tackles are out and Mahomes is under duress, but we have not seen them suffer this way during the Mahomes era.

Yeah, I mean, listen, now Mahomes has been in, what, five Super Bowls.

Is that right?

And he's won

three, and now he's lost two, and the two have been very ugly, very ugly losses where in both cases, his offensive line, and we did talk about this on the Thursday show, that the offensive line was a potential sign.

How could the Eagles kill the Chiefs?

It was if that front four did damage.

And poor Frank Caliando at guard, Joe Tooney getting tuned up throughout this game.

And it was every time, especially in that first half, that Mahomes attempted to drop back, he was instantly in danger.

And on the two interceptions, the pick six, there was obviously pressure.

And then on the Zach Bond

interception, he has his tackle pushed right into his chin strap, which leads to his body getting contorted and he throws off his back foot, and that leads to the other interception that's quickly turned into a touchdown that essentially puts the game away.

So

that is, to me, the story of the game that we've seen Mahomes and the Chiefs be humbled in grisly manner twice.

ever and it's happened both times a very similar way where the the offensive line broke down And the difference in this game, and again, you're going to look at the final score.

And I think Mahomes ended up throwing for 257 yards and three touchdowns, but that doesn't tell the story here.

They did not even cross midfield until I believe about, yeah, there was a completion to

Worthy with 222 to play in the third quarter.

That was the first time the Chiefs even crossed midfield in this game.

In the Bucs Super Bowl, they had had chances.

And then, in addition to the struggles of the offensive line, Mahomes played heroically in that game, keeping plays alive.

And then he was victimized by a lot of drops.

This time, there was no hope.

And Mahomes got cooked up throughout this game.

And Vic Fangio,

there was no emotion, Mark.

At some point, I'd love to see during this post-game show, give me Vic Fangio smiling.

That's all I asked for at this point because he deserves it.

You may be asking too much.

I mean,

they dominated individual matchups.

We, I, you know, someone, I forgot where I saw it, but someone said, like, you know, the Chiefs have made more mistakes tonight than they have made in the last 10 weeks combined.

And it's like everything just went wrong.

Like, it's like you wake up on the wrong side of the bed and you make a ton of mistakes and you make four or five, six, you know, bad phone calls and text messages.

And like, that's what the Chiefs were tonight.

Like, it was so uncharacteristic.

I'm kind of shocked by how unready they were for this.

They got Bo Raced, six sacks, three turnovers, Cooper DeGene with a pick six on his 22nd birthday.

And everyone's like talking about Saquon Barkley's birthday, as I was, but it's like, it's old, you know, it was Cooper Dejine's birthday.

He's like, 22 years old.

Yeah, it's my party.

Taylor Swift has a famous song called 22.

Well, they show her, and she's getting booed, and she's getting booed by Eagles fans.

So it's like, you knew

the vibe was off for the Chiefs tonight.

Unbelievable.

It It might be because we weren't there.

Like, I would say that's

if we weren't there.

I feel like anytime we've been in the building for the Chiefs, they've found a way.

And

that's just something to think about.

You know what?

I was going to.

Do we have Connor here?

I think we have Connor Orr.

Connor Orr is at the Superdome.

Let's bring him in.

There he is.

Let's bring him in.

All right, here's the man, the myth, the legend from the bowels of the Superdome.

Connor Connor Orr, who's been following the Eagles throughout their playoff run, he's been taking, no, he has not been taking

his Chrysler.

He has not taken the TNC, but he got to all the games at the link, and now here he is in New Orleans.

Where have you been since the game ended, Connor?

We're down here, actually, there's a bunch of Eagles players coming off the field behind me.

covered in confetti, yelling stuff that starts with M and F, and everybody's having a good time.

You know, it's a party.

That's it.

It ain't a party until a bunch of MFers are getting dropped in a big spot.

You know what I mean?

That's what I've always said.

Now, are you waiting to enter the locker room then?

You haven't been inside yet?

Yeah, so right now, like, there was the elongated trophy presentation, and then the team will kind of have a minute for themselves, and then we got to do some face scanning.

They got to scan our faces, and then

we get in.

So it'll be, I'm looking forward to it.

Now, in the past, you would cover the Chiefs Super Bowl wins, and that was a great place to run into like Eric Stone Street, Paul Rudd.

But today I bumped into Bradley Cooper.

We're coming down the elevator together.

He had the man bun rocking, and so this is, I think this place is about to get lit off, you know?

Yeah, I know if Bradley's been reading your work this week.

I hope so.

But

what would you say?

What was the vibe in this stadium as this game unfolded kind of quickly and you realized this thing was getting kind of out of control early?

Yeah, well, so I would even start before the game.

Like I was walking.

I always take like a really long walk around the concourse and it was 80-20 Eagles fans.

Like the Chiefs contingent was non-existent.

And then as everybody had filtered into the stadium, they had put it started showing fans.

And by then, Eagles fans were already like drunk.

They were rowdy.

Anytime, like, even if it was like a child in Chiefs gear would come on the big screen they would like there was thunderous booze that were raining down and to the point where like John Hamm introduced the Chiefs and they started doing the war chant and you could barely hear them I mean this was almost like a like a fan assault before the game started and then to the to the point where I was in the press box was saying to some people like if the Eagles won the toss they should just take the ball and just try to continue that momentum but the way that it worked out i mean it's just you know they got the ball anyway and you know it was it was over i mean from the minute this game started yeah we've talked about at the top of the show connor the

um i'm watching right now as peter schrager interviews bradley cooper on the field so connor's uh his immediately fact check there he is correct that cooper is in the building uh we've talked Yeah, at the very beginning of the show, Connor, that you and Jordan were kind of fighting for property or possession of Vic Fangio in our preview episode.

I know you don't sell Vic Shorts, a fellow Scrant knight,

but how surprised were you by the utter dominance of that defensive front against the Chiefs' offensive line?

I mean,

it was ridiculous and really to the point where it wasn't anything spectacular.

Like I went back and I was re-watching all the sacks as they were happening.

And sure, you know, you do some stunts, you do a little bit of stuff, but zero pressures and very, you know, very little in terms of games and stunts at the line of scrimmage.

This was Josh Sweat on Joe Tooney and just taking him back into the backfield.

And a lot of times, like, you know, they were creative with their usage of Jalen Carter, where he'd almost take himself out of the play on purpose, and there were double and triple teams on him.

And then, if you leave the rest of that defensive line to just get into the backfield and make Mahomes uncomfortable, it just became untenable.

But I was surprised, almost like the Tampa-based Super Bowl, that there wasn't any big sort of alteration in the game plan from Reed.

like in 20, whenever that was, 2020.

I kept wondering, when is he going to run more 12 personnel?

Get another tight end in there.

Today, at halftime, we were all like, okay, well, clearly, Joe Tooney is going to go back to guard, see if he can handle Jalen Carter one-on-one, and then you can try to mix it up in another way.

But they didn't change anything.

I mean, they didn't alter anything.

Maybe a little bit more usage of Samaj P.

Ryan in the backfield, but it didn't matter.

I mean, there was a sack where

it was Travis Kelsey and Isaiah Pacheco both had his hands on sweat, or I think it was sweat, and he just blew right past them.

So, and it was just a smoking.

I've never seen anything like it.

It's funny because, like, we, on our Thursday show with all of us back on a couch in New Orleans somewhere, like, we're like, it might just come down to mistakes.

Like, if you can make, if you can force the Chiefs into mistakes, but like, it surprises me that the Chiefs were so surprised by what the Eagles did.

Like, didn't you kind of know this was going to happen?

And, like, how did, did you know?

They came into the game seeming unprepared for what they faced, which is not typical for an Andy Reid coach team.

You're totally right, right?

Like, the big surprise would have been if Vic actually brought pressure, but he did what he did all year, right?

He played cover four.

He blanketed the secondary with bodies, and he tried to get home with four rushes and not really even all that exotic of four rushes, you know?

So this was a very traditional, very Fangio standard plan.

And I could not believe, and again, I mean, we could say we're surprised at the lack of adjustments, but what could you have done?

You know,

if you think about it, okay, maybe Joe Tooney plays a little bit better on the inside, but the talent discrepancy on the line was so vast that I really don't think that there was anything that anybody could have done about it.

And that's obviously going to be the biggest question.

facing the Chiefs in this offseason.

We'll get to the Chiefs a little bit with Pete Sweeney in just a little bit.

So I want to focus more on the Eagles side of things.

But again, like

it was kind of a strange game.

Uh, the energy was strange watching it from home.

Like, even as the game ended, we're so used to kind of these Super Bowls now going down to the very end of the game, and there's a

climactic ending and the celebration and emotions pouring out.

When we're doing the post-game, when they're doing the post-game and we're looking for a let's grab a clip, everything was so subdued because the game was obviously in a rocking chair by halftime.

And so that was strange.

We weren't expecting that.

And then

you mentioned Barkley.

We all talked up Barkley going into this game.

Barkley had arguably the greatest season ever by a running back.

Barkley, Kenneth Gainwell

combine for 31 carries for 67 yards in this game.

So go figure that Barkley, who is the engine that made this offense go, would be completely neutralized.

And they kicked ass anyway.

I mean, that just shows you the level of a team that was that really the Eagles were when they were flying at top flight

and surprising too in that like you know you can you can go back to all the last few Super Bowls that I've covered and there was clearly one team that came in on a heater and last year it was the it was the chiefs Travis Kelsey was slam dunking balls over the goalpost in pregame warm-ups and you're sitting there thinking my god like nobody's gonna be able to handle this no team came into this game with any sort of clear emotional advantage i watched most of the warm-ups i took someone's seat at like the 50-yard line until they showed up and I just sat there watching the demeanor of the teams as they walked on the field.

Jalen Hurts is always kind of that stoic and quiet type, so you're not going to get a lot of demonstrative behavior from him.

But it wasn't until the third or fourth possession when all of a sudden the emotions of this game just got completely out of control.

And having the fans behind you at that point certainly helps.

But this was unlike any Super Bowl.

You're right.

Like the vibes were weird, but they were weird all the way throughout.

I mean, this was not a game that I I thought, okay, the Eagles are going to steamroll them when I saw them come out on the field.

Dan, I like that Connor, you know, at our live show down in New Orleans a couple days ago, Connor had the pen in his left ear.

And even tonight, I feel like I'm still seeing the pen in the left ear there.

It's like

a true journal.

It's just like he's just going to go do some more work.

It's a true foods pen.

I stole them from the restaurant.

It's my favorite.

By the way, we got to talk at some point about how much I love New Orleans.

But

you've come all the way around.

Well, dude.

How about the team that won the game, too?

You've got some work to do as there as well.

Yeah, we should talk about that because Connor, you're a busy man.

You're obviously and read Connor's stuff for SI that will come out of tonight's coverage.

We both

to varying levels disregarded the Eagles as Super Bowl worthy.

And as I said at the top of the show, NFC title game, ass kicking.

Super Bowl, ass kicking.

I can't remember too many teams that closed as

incredibly hard as these Philadelphia Eagles.

So we'll give the floor over to you.

Oh, hold on.

Did Graver play the clip of me saying that they weren't going to win the Super Bowl?

Who's calling the Eagles a Super Bowl contender?

Oh, you dick.

You dick.

You dick.

Listen, we all end up with our own version of the freezing cold take every once in a while, and there's you.

Listen, here's the thing.

That was not this team.

Like back then, that was not this team.

This team that hung a 50 burger on the Commanders and was barely getting by against the Cleveland Browns at that point, you know?

And I think that none of us saw this coming.

However, I would say that I came around.

I picked the Eagles to win the Super Bowl by three points, not by like 200.

But I'm slowly trying to work myself back into the good graces of not only the international community i saw handsome hank you kind of got on his radar with some of my takes yeah i would imagine you did yeah and uh so i tried to walk you back on that one but that was a you went out into the deep end real quick on that take as well Yes, I saw him.

I'm trying to work my way back into that one.

Really trying to do some damage control on the New Orleans stuff.

And

hopefully with my writing on the Eagles,

we can get into the offseason on Coast Mode.

We need to Unabomber Connor.

We need to Unobomber Connor and just put him out in a cabin somewhere in like deep, you know, dark Wyoming.

We're going to be going dark for this week after the Super Bowl.

And I think Connor, it's, yeah, a log cabin somewhere in

the deep woods of New Jersey is probably just a safe place.

They lay low after you file your copy tonight.

Yes, but I will say that we live and die on Take Mountain, and it's better to have lived and to have tasted the air and smelled the air than to never have lived at all on Take Mountain.

That's it.

I love that.

Well said.

I love that.

Julian Saliana on one of our live stream friends here.

Time for another team GM to confront Connor about his take.

So it's going to be Jason Light and now Howie Roseman.

Be careful at the combine, buddy.

All right.

All right, Julian.

Sounds good.

All right, Connor, we're going to let you get back to what you got to do.

Did you have anything else to share before we say goodbye from the Superdome?

Sports Writers Dream Super Bowl.

We were done with our copy at halftime, baby.

Now we're going to go enjoy the post-game festivities.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who is listening this season, and I can't wait to see you guys this offseason.

All right, beautiful, Connor.

Thank you for all your help in this season.

Now completed.

I love that guy.

You know what was so great there?

What?

Well, just because we're doing this live, right?

Like, it could have been Wi-Fi issues, like grainy, sketchy visuals and sound, clean sound, clean visuals, and Connor just being the most Conner-y Connor there is.

So, yeah, I don't, Justin's giving the same look.

I have no idea what you're talking about, what you just said.

Well, and I'm saying, like, when you, you, you, you bring someone in live from the stadium, anything could have gone wrong there, but it went great thanks to, thanks to you, Justin.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it went really good.

Definitely a lot of ambient noise.

He was definitely quieter than you guys, and his camera froze like seven times.

But hey, we got

heard everything he said, and that is enough, I think.

It was basically like

during the Persian Gulf War in 1991, their camera technology at the time.

That was just what we got.

But you know, that makes it a little bit more raw.

It makes it a little bit more real.

And if there's one thing I know about the Superdome that it's historic, but it's kind of a dump, I don't imagine the Wi-Fi is at a high level.

So the fact that we got Connor at all, we should just be thankful.

You're right.

And I, well, he looked clean to me, but I also agree that the Persian Gulf was pristine.

Nothing went wrong there.

Everything went fine.

I want to say

also that

it's time for a read, Mark, and I think you're going to do it for us.

So I'm going to throw it to you to tell the people a little bit about BetterHelp.

Well, I'd need the copy, first of all.

What if we started there?

If I had the copy, I'd read it.

If you want to send it to me, how about that?

Now, that's a broadcaster.

You know, you just talked about Connor and

the job.

It's my, I'd be an exciting.

So here's it.

It's only week 20.

I've got it right here.

I've got it right now that we've been using all season.

How about this?

How about this?

You know, by the way, you know, this episode of Heed the Call,

it's brought to you by Better Health, okay?

Like, what are some of the...

Unbelievable.

What are some of your relationship green flags, Dan?

You know, we often hear about the red flags, of course, we should avoid, but what if we focus more on looking for the green flags and friends and partners?

Talk about your relationships.

You know, Dan, you've been married for a long time.

What are some of your, what's a green flag to you?

What would you say is?

You know what?

We have, I'll give you a green flag.

We've spent a bunch of Super Bowl weekends in the city, and I've been separated from my wife and my family.

And this weekend, we got to come home after a successful

New Orleans.

And

I had a great breakfast date with my wife on Saturday.

Get out, especially if you have kids, spend some time just the two of yourselves.

That's a green flag for me, Sesdog.

No, that's great.

And if you're not sure what those green flags look like, not you, but someone else, like therapy can help you identify them, actively practice them in your relationships, and embody the green flag energy yourself.

Whether or not you've been in therapy personally, talk about the broader benefits in your own worlds.

It's online, baby.

Let's start there.

Okay.

I think that's a lot.

That seems like a robust group of people.

Well done.

Well done, buddy.

With that said, let's.

Well, you threw that at me.

Like you, like, this is a live show, and you threw that at me.

That's what I like to do.

I like to keep you on your toes.

Yep.

And I know you've done a lot of the better helps this year, and you just need to.

Need to.

I thought you had the dock in front of you because we're doing the Super Bowl show and that was the Super Bowl dock, but

now we know for next season to have that dock ready because you never know.

You never know.

Justin sent it to me just in time.

He's an asset to us.

Absolutely.

All right.

Also an asset to us.

And this is a tough one.

You know,

the great Pete Sweeney was on our show from New Orleans.

He actually came to Heat House at Underdog Manor,

just dressed wonderfully, dressed ace.

And that was the look of a man that was covering a team about to three Pete.

And now we're going to welcome in Pete from the Superdome

in a post-mortem scenario.

Hey, guys.

Pete, first of all, we just want to thank you, buddy, for joining us.

And I love the bookend nature to this, that our first show of the season, Thursday night, way back in September, you're with us.

And now you're here Super Bowl Sunday.

However,

this is probably not what any of us were expecting.

We could have expected the Eagles could have won the game, but like this, Pete, how surprised are you as someone that's covered the Kansas City Chiefs as closely as anyone during this dynasty run?

Yeah, I think the big surprise for us is these are typically the games where Patrick Mahomes rises to the occasion.

And

say what you want about some of the protection and stuff.

I really thought on the initial drive of the game, He almost had an interception there when he was trying to make a play happen, sort of threw it up for grabs.

And just an atypical performance for him where I think he

and it's hard to even say this, but I think he was like a hindrance to the team.

And to his credit, he admitted it right at the podium.

You know, I just got back from press.

By the way, you can kind of see the, they've turned the stadium blue or greenish, you know, that green hue.

Very disappointing.

And he essentially said, like, I can't turn the football over.

And I think that's where the game changed.

Like, you know, you play this

AFC, and you sometimes get it get a team like the browns and you can make mistakes early and when you're playing the philadelphia eagles you know the the nfc champions and they've done this to multiple teams like you saw them do it in the nfc championship you just like can't spot teams like that points and so for me i mean it was uh big time quicksand and i i think in in trying to view the game and and you know you were mentioning what we thought it might come down to the wire i kind of think this is easier for chiefs fans to swallow than losing on a last-minute drive by Jalen Hurt.

Like the Chiefs didn't even really show up in this game.

And by the time they got anything going, I mean, it was extreme garbage time.

So the score doesn't even reflect how bad it was here in New Orleans.

Are you surprised?

Just because Chiefs games, by nature, have been close and they're, like, we trust the coaching staff to adjust to what they saw, for instance, like in the first half.

Like, it just felt like nothing changed even in the second half.

Like,

it was just like the Eagles were just clearly the better team, but Kansas City found no way to really kind of strategically adjust or come out of the darkness from the first 30 minutes.

Well, you know, what's funny about the Chiefs is in every Super Bowl they've won these past three that they actually won, they were down 10 in every one of those games.

And so even when it's 10-0,

in talking with colleagues, like no one's even, like, of course they're going to be back in this game at some point.

And I think what a big change in the game for me, and that's when panic first started, was now you're down 10.

Okay, let's drive down the field.

And it's a pick six.

It's literally the worst thing you could possibly.

And I thought from that point forward, you kind of got the sense like this probably isn't Kansas City's night.

And then you fast forward, okay, so now you're down 17.

And you're like, okay, the Chiefs get the ball at the half.

They have a chance to score here and do the old 14-point swing, 17, 14, bing, bang, boom.

Now it's suddenly a game.

Another interception that turns into seven more points.

And so the quicksand really, I think it surrounded them and they just couldn't find a way out.

And then you get to the second half.

And I saw people on X Twitter referencing, like, well, you know, the Houston Texans were up 24 and there was that huge run.

And so maybe it'll be night and day like we've seen in so many Super Bowls.

And I agree with you completely.

The initial drives of the second half were exactly what we had seen.

in the first half.

And I got to imagine, like, I think sometimes you forget, well, these are guys are humans too.

It's got to be incredibly demoralizing to like know all the highlight reels and the tales told about how the chiefs are never dead and that you come back uh and it just you ran into more of the same and i you know i think by the time you had that long drive uh in the third quarter i believe it turned into three actually not not seven uh for the eagles i mean you just the nature of the drive four first downs killing clock when you're down all these points it just was a it was a slow and painful death.

I mean, it felt like the game was over at 17-0.

And then you had to kind of just sit here for another three three quarters as it got worse and worse.

And you have Eagles fans shouting with that song that they sing.

Oh, man.

And then,

like,

classic, in like a classic WWE move where, like, The Rock would take the Stone Cold Stunner, or like, vice versa with the Rock Bottom.

They start chopping.

At a certain point, they were like all chopping the Eagles fans.

Control chop.

It was, yeah, insult to injury.

And look, the Chiefs deserved it.

They played poorly.

They didn't really show up.

And I'll tell you the truth.

I had had some vibes during the week that you guys were still here, you know, before and after I went to the heat house.

That the Chiefs, to me,

I got a little bit of a sense of, I think they think it's just going to go fine.

And I wasn't really at the Eagles' availabilities, but a colleague of mine was.

And he said the Eagles are more like, we knew we weren't ready last time.

We thought we were going to win and didn't.

We're going to come and we're going to bring the noise, essentially.

And they did just that.

Yeah, it really is like, I was befuddled watching the game because just you i mean you laid it out beautifully there like once they go down 10 00 you're like okay they'll they'll get it settled down they they always do and then they're down 17 nothing and i had the same exact thought i said okay it looks bad right now but we've seen this before even if they just get three at the end of the half and then they come back and they get seven out of the out of the uh tunnel it's 17 10 and and then you never know what could happen when he when mahomes throws that second interception to bomb where he gets the the tackle gets pushed right up in his grill.

That's obviously at that point, you're like, this is totally different.

And then the defense could not save the offense, essentially.

They immediately then give up the touchdown to make it 24.

Go ahead.

No, the left side of the line has been makeshift, and it hasn't been perfect, but it's been good enough to allow the Chiefs to win and really beat a really good Bills team.

I mean, it was good enough and held up against the Buffalo Bills.

This Eagles front was like a different animal entirely.

Like you could, you couldn't show up with a makeshift left side.

And, you know, honestly, as someone who covers the team and actually went through the same exact situation, which, you know, worse with Tampa,

I think we even overlooked it to a point.

The Eagles didn't have to blitz, and they were getting pressures on half of Mahomes' dropbacks.

And so I think instantly you knew

they didn't want to put DJ Humphreys in there.

And so it was going to be what it was.

And it just never improved.

It never improved for for them on this night and on and on the mahomes side of things yes this was a bad mahomes game and he completes a bunch of passes at the in the last quarter or so to make it look better but there was even a play i want to say it was late in the third quarter where they were facing a fourth and short and brady break who's loving this by the way brady's doing the telecast and and he notes after an incomplete it gets knocked away from new kopkins that actually mahomes had a little time here and he rushed it didn't even get his fingers on the seams of the ball and i noticed in real time that Noah Gray had kind of flashed open on the play as well.

And I'm thinking to myself, are we actually watching a Super Bowl where Patrick Mahomes has been cooked up by a defense and he looks completely mortal?

That's what I'm saying.

And tell me if you feel similarly or different, but the Bucs Super Bowl, that one went sideways too, but it felt like I was still watching Superman doing everything he could do.

I remember one play in particular where he scrambled around fully horizontal, threw a bullet that gets dropped in the end zone.

This game, Mahomes, as you're saying, was part of the problem.

And who could have ever predicted that?

Yeah, and I think you made a great point about the offensive line.

And you saw these defensive ends.

And they, like, to me, they weren't even just lazing by with these speed rushes and bending the edge.

It was like, no, we're just going to push Joe Tooney into Patrick Mahomes.

And they were doing it.

They didn't have to use a blitzer.

So even if Mahomes got some light, you could tell that he couldn't find anything downfield because, again, they're only rushing the four.

And it was tough.

And it was at a character as well.

Missing Hopkins, you were saying, I think it was right before half.

He would have been down to the 20.

It probably looks like a different game.

That was a different one.

That's when Hopkins seemed to trip up on his feet.

The play I'm referring to, the game was already slipping away, but it just was more emblematic of Mahomes having a really strange day compared to the rest of his career.

You know, from being a listener, it's fun to be involved with the show now, being a listener for so long.

But I know, Dan, you are a Darnold Aficionado.

And it reminded me a little bit of that seeing ghosts game where you could tell he was getting like that happy feet.

And you don't, it's, it's just atypical to see him get phased in any capacity.

And it just wasn't his night.

It's not like the Chiefs win every single week, but sometimes they play really poorly, and you're surprised by it.

The big difference here, of course, is there's no tomorrow.

Now you got to sit on that for six months.

Does it change anything about

looking forward with the Chiefs?

And we'll have you on in the offseason, but like what they're, how they view themselves?

Like, because they got by with so many like added parts and they looked kind of like the geniuses but then everything changed this evening i did feel a little bit like this year it had some some last dance qualities to it in the sense of course mahomes is going to go on um but you talk about the contracts sort of coming up with trey smith and nick bolton and justin reed uh and like the way that I thought Mahomes answered the question at the podium about Travis Kelsey was in a little bit in a more of a, we'll see way.

So maybe there actually is more to Travis Kelsey really considering this to be his last game.

Now that this game played out the way it did, sometimes I feel like

you get added motivation to come back because you don't want it to end that way.

Dan, I know you'll remember Mariano Rivera when he was supposed to retire and then had like he was

shagging outfield balls and he came back.

I wonder if this is such a bad taste and maybe Kelsey was considering it and it pushes and said, I can't go out on a game like that.

And you wonder if he just recommits that.

But

there's a lot of decisions that Kansas City has to make and they don't really have a ton of money to do it when you consider they would really ideally like to bring Trey Smith back.

If they end up having that, their free agency acquisition is just going to end up being Trey Smith if they decide to go in that direction.

So it's going to be drafting well and it's going to be younger players.

And I...

I say the last sense thing because I wonder if because of all those contracts and those big decisions, this was going to be the best team they have where you had a lot of these pieces all together prior to having to sort of reinvent the wheel and create a newer iteration of the Chiefs.

And so it will be an interesting offseason, and I think they have a lot of work to do and they really, really have to nail the NFL draft.

And they've done that in the past.

They'll have to do it again to keep this dynasty going.

Yeah, Pete, thank you very much for joining us.

What do you do from here for the rest of the night?

Like, what is this?

Yeah.

We'll throw some stuff up on Arrowhead Pride.

Numbers will be down this week because nobody wants to read about everything that.

But I have noticed in past offseasons, numbers go up when it's disappointing at the end.

So I think this is a great fan base.

I mean, they're going to be locked into all the offseason moves and how the Chiefs can get better and come back.

And now what was supposed to be this celebration of potentially the greatest team of all time has now quickly shifted, in my mind, to a redemption story.

So

we'll see how they do it.

When it bleeds, it leads.

That's right.

Great point by you.

Oh, as always.

And it will lead everyone to arrowheadpride.com.

Thank you very much.

All right, boys.

You're the man.

There he goes.

Thank you.

Unbelievable.

Bookend appearances from Pete Sweeney.

Yeah.

Just weird, Mark.

It's just weird to watch that game.

And

any man can be beat.

We saw Brady get beat multiple times.

And now we've seen Mahomes truly get humbled in this game.

And

when you look back at this one,

and I know we've cycled back to it, but yeah, they've now lost two Super Bowls.

The Bucs game, it really felt like the team let him down.

This game, it felt like Mahomes played a big role in that.

We have some sound.

What do we got?

Some sound coming in here, Gravedigger.

Jump in, baby.

Yeah, we got some sound from Patrick Mahomes about not playing up to his level.

Yeah, I mean,

credit to the Eagles, man, they play better than us from start to finish.

Um,

we didn't start how we wanted to.

Obviously, the turnovers hurt, and I mean, I just gotta take all the blame for that.

I mean, just those early turnovers swing the momentum of the game, and then they capitalized on them.

And they scored, I mean, they scored on the one, and then they got a touchdown immediately after.

So, that's 14 points that I kind of gave them.

And it's hard to come back from that in the Super Bowl one.

So,

just didn't play to my standard, and I have to be better next time.

Come on, Pat.

I mean, I get that friend a cry, but you know,

he's very even-keeled, isn't he?

He is just very even-keeled.

Like, he's well, Pete mentioned the Yankees.

It reminds me of Jeter.

I mean, you can't never too high, never too low.

Yeah.

But I would imagine what's actually going on in his mind is a lot different than he was just revealing to the media there.

You know?

Do we have

it's a tough, it's a little bit of a tough topic because we're talking about two quarterbacks for the Eagles versus one in terms of winning Super Bowls, but like, do we have dual dynasties now in the NFL or like trying to be dynasties?

Like, are the Eagles in that world where like the Chiefs and Eagles both have to be seen as like an AFC, NFC superpower?

I think we don't even start talking dynasty until you win either, you know, at least two and maybe three out of four.

So the Eagles.

Well, they've both done.

They both won two, but yes.

No, Chiefs got three, right?

Yeah, but the Eagles have now, but I'm saying they did it, of course, with, you know.

Five trips to the Super Bowl and three wins

versus three trips to the Super Bowl and two wins for the Eagles.

What can't be slept on?

We're going to do a little winners and losers, Ceci,

and maybe we'll dig into that end of things.

Did you have any other sound, Justin?

Yeah, I got Andy Reid here.

I don't know what he says.

I just pulled it while we were recording.

Justin's like half his apartment is packed up to move to Dallas right now.

That's true.

That is a fact.

Big Red.

Let's hear Big Red.

All right.

As a compliment

to our fans and all the support that they've given us.

Today was a rough day.

We didn't really play well in any of the phases.

They did a nice job.

I'm proud of our guys, though.

for the battle, the fight that they put in throughout the year, and all the games that they played here over the last few years.

So

my hat goes off to the guys for that.

And

we'll learn from this.

Like most games here, when you don't do very well, you learn from it as a coach, you learn from it as a player, and you move on.

Yeah, well, again,

I sense a little bit of shell shock with Kansas City.

I'm with you.

I think, like, I mean, like, I'm kind of waking up to what this was.

This is a shocking

blowout.

Like, had it been, you know, 25, 23, like, we can all unpack that.

But, like, they were just, like, everything that we've been saying about Kansas City for like half a decade under Mahomes and Reid was completely undone tonight.

It didn't show up tonight, I should say.

Fair enough.

All right, let's do a read.

The NFL season has come to an end.

Wow, this read is right on top of it.

Yes, it is.

What?

Timely.

Better than the ad read that I just tried to unfurl.

I just need to copy.

And what a year it was.

But the good news is you can keep playing on Underdog because the NBA season is in full swing.

Underdog has nightly NBA pick'em slates, discounts, and promos of plenty.

And you could even play against other users with daily tournaments and private drafts where Underdog is giving out over $100,000 every single day.

Hey, Grave, Digga, isn't Lucas supposed to make his Lakers debut on Monday night?

Womp, womp.

Sorry, buddy.

Anyway, just scan the QR code on your screen to download.

Hey, at least you got that big man, Anthony Davis, right?

Womp, womp.

Don't got him either.

either.

That's cool.

Real cool.

My abductor hood.

My abductor is killing me.

Was that April?

Like, I don't even follow basketball, but that feels like a predictable.

Anyway, just scan the QR code on your screen to download the underdog app or sign up with the code HDC.

And new users can receive up to $1,000 in bonus cash when they deposit for our U.S.

audience only.

All right.

Deary,

can we

You want to do a little winners and losers?

Sure.

I got some winners and losers to share, Mark.

First winner,

Howie Roseman.

Wow.

Because I'm not going to skimp on flowers for Nick and the rest of the coaching staff and the players.

But what Howie Roseman did here is a master class in on-the-fly roster retooling, not rebuilding, retooling, and taking all the good things that came out of that 10-1 start

last season before it all crumbled, diagnosing what was wrong and why the team shit its pants down the stretch of that season and embarrassed itself, quite frankly,

ending with that playoff loss to Tampa.

And then having an offseason where you import Saquon Barkley, which will go down as one of the greatest free agency signings in the history of pro football.

Zach Bond, which I think will go down in history as one of the great kind of bargain shopping signings in the history of the free agency era.

And then you go to the draft and you do the thing.

And I remember speaking on it at length, Mark, how it was frustrating to me that Howie Roseman got praised for no matter what he did, but his methods are kind of genius, which is all these guys you hear about throughout the draft process.

And I know this isn't his policy, but it kind of is when he actually goes and do it because this is how he got Jalen Carter, too, the year before.

He goes and gets the guys that everyone thought would go in the top 10 that, but fall out of the top 10, and then he grabs those guys and you go, holy shit, what a great pickup.

And in the case of Jalen Carter, in the case of Cooper DeGene, in the case of Quinyon Mitchell, got...

Bang, bang, bang.

There's four huge additions to the team, three on the defensive side of the ball when the defense was what really killed them more than anything down the stretch.

And then to top it all off, and I know this is collaborative, so you give Siriana credit, but you get the offensive and the defensive coordinator out of there.

It wasn't working with Siriana.

You bring in Kellen Moore and Vic Fongio.

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

Hits bullseyes everyone.

Yep.

You're absolutely right.

I'd say a loser would be...

the Patrick Mahomes race to

equal Brady's Super Bowl rings because we realize you only get so many chances here and like this was a dud and how hard it is to get back to this.

The idea that I thought even like a week ago, like Patrick Holmes might in this modern age, the way they're built, find a way to

match Tom Brady's Super Bowl ring output and maybe even top it.

Like it seems impossible to do.

And Andy Reid also with Bill Belichick.

And like this is a huge,

a huge loss here.

Like it's to get back to this because that's why I asked Pete that question.

Like this team

has some issues and like to rebuild or reload like will be tough.

And like I think it's just so impossible to get back to these situations.

I mean it's it's possible, but it's hard.

And the only thing I'll say is trying to get catch catch Brady, what did Brady finish with?

Seven?

Yeah.

I mean, it already seems impossible, but like he was on pace.

Mahomes was more than on pace.

Brady went 10 years without one.

That's what I'm saying.

All I'm saying is, yeah, Brady won a full decade, but because he kept his prime open, his prime year window open longer than any player ever, he's kind of, it's impossible to use him as a gauge for anyone, which is really obviously a credit to Brady as the GOAT.

But yeah, like Brady, I thought Brady had a good week, by the way, if you want to throw him in winners.

I thought he was good in this game.

I thought his immediate, he did a couple different appearances, including one on Cowherd, where he was just excellent, and he was breaking down

what made him special, what his secret sauce was as a quarterback.

And he also was very frank about it, as he was in this telecast, because they had a lot of time to fill in the second half, that the losses stick with you longer than the wins, these Super Bowls, and the losses stay on your resume forever.

And nobody knows that better than Tom Brady, because the 18-0 loss to the Giants,

the loss to the Eagles, and losing to Eli and Coughlin a second time, those things, a lot, you think about them as much as you think about his glories.

And so now Mahomes has this on his resume, and he has two spankings in the Super Bowl on his resume.

And Brady, you know, it was kind of fun to listen to him because he, to me, sounded comfortable in the booth, but he also sounded like a guy,

hyper-competitive bastard, this guy is.

And there was probably part of him who was like, yeah, dude, I am.

the motherfucking goat.

And

get back to work, Patrick, because you got a lot to do.

Because that's the one thing that Brady never did.

He never won three in a row.

And Mahomes had a chance to really kind of change the discussion and maybe put Mahomes in the front of the conversation if you wanted to.

And you could credibly do it if he had three in a row, which no one ever did.

That all goes by the board, and you have to go back to the drawing board.

I totally agree.

I'd say a winner, like the combination of Nick Siriani and Jalen Hurts, that, like, just go back a year ago, right?

It's like, do they get along?

Like, is the coach a nutbag?

Is Jalen Hurts someone that people don't like?

Like, the team fell apart?

Like, can any of this work?

Is this combustible?

Are we going to be, are we a year away from all this changing?

And here we are now tonight.

Like, it just, they changed narratives.

Like, those two people changed narratives.

Because, like, Jalen Hurts, I think people were like hot and cold on.

Nick Siriani, obviously, I think just by the persona.

And I, and I get where you're coming from with your take on Nick Siriani, but like, um, the Nick Siriani experience is, um,

you know, it's like, what are we doing here sometimes?

But suddenly,

and I know they're both, they're like, their comments were like, they're thanking God all that, like, left and right.

And that's fine.

Look on, Nick.

Like, you know, you're literally on live television, 100 million people watching you.

You've put the crazy Nick Siriani in the drawer for

three months now.

And this is when he was all right to come out.

You had a chance to come out and nobody could take anything away from you.

And we're hearing about God and Jesus and all this stuff.

And it's like, all right, man.

Well, that's why I mentioned Big Dom as my big X factor.

I think he kind of got to nick siriani and said let's you know slow down some of this you know who's a loser big dom why well he was in the background on that big dom he always is big dom do we have a screen a loser how is he he's like just one of the i don't know i feel like big dom kind of always i think dom liked owning the city over siriani do you have a shot do you think big dom is not going to go do whatever he wants to do in philadelphia for the next like five five years dom was dom was trying so hard to be in the background during the siriani interview and if you notice this, like the real Dom heads out there know that Dom is always looking wherever the camera is, he likes to be in the background and be in that shot.

And I think Siriani now, he's probably going to get the first reservation in the Italian restaurants now over Big Dom.

That's all I'm saying.

Like, Big Dom is a great night for Big Dom overall, but Dom's in the background, and he's staying in the background now.

And I don't think that sits well deep down to him.

Look, Dom, it's okay to go move out of the shot every once in a while.

That's all.

That's all.

That's it.

The hat

is like, that's what he wore for that just a broad white hat um and then trying to interview

dom's like like desperately trying to shove a hat to siriani it's like dom just move out of the shot give nick the moment this is nick's moment yeah i mean i'm saying it dan hands this is saying give nick sirian his moment dom move out of the shot okay loser he's one of the one of the commenters said that dan doesn't even agree that nick siriani celebrated correctly but um you're saying big but it's like i you know look at sorry but like narratives change, correct?

Like, we can't.

Nick Siriani.

Go ahead, give Siriani is a lame duck coach.

He won't be.

He's going to get a huge contract extension.

He's going to be one of the highest paid coaches in football, if not the highest.

He's going to be right up there with all these other guys, making like 20 million a year or whatever it is.

It's some crazy number now.

These salaries have boomed.

And, you know, we'll see how that looks in a couple of years.

But

you're not going to draw me in.

I'm not going to do it.

I can't do it.

You want to pay Nick Siriani like he's one of the best head coaches in the league?

And they will.

Go do that.

Let's check back in in a couple of years.

But for tonight, this was Nick's night, and I give him all the credit in the world.

Nick Siriani, congratulations.

You know what?

I'm going to give him, you know, I'm going to do it.

I'm going to give him the gift, Sess Dog.

Justin, you know what I'm talking about?

We're going to give him the gift of

shit.

Am I going to do this?

Am I going to do this?

This is one of the great moments by the old Zeuser, okay?

Nick Siriani.

Yes, this is in terms of high levels of

magnanimousness.

This is the highest level I can give.

Nick Siriani, take these.

Come, come,

come,

come,

come,

come,

come, come, come,

come,

come, come, Siriani.

Unstoppable.

Two weeks.

Master game plan.

Eat it, big red.

Bongos for Nick Siriani on Super Bowl Sunday.

That is Magnem.

That is, by you, that is a noble choice.

You did a nice job there.

We've not given that to anyone, and you just gave it to what I wouldn't call you.

Winners get bongos.

Losers take a walk.

Yep.

Well done.

And he's a winner.

Jalen Hurts is a winner.

He's a winner.

He's so you, Nick.

One more winner I had here: Samuel L.

Jackson, halftime show.

I thought the halftime show was fine.

I really like Kendrick Lamar.

I think

a very good pick because whenever you could pick an artist who's like at the top of their game as opposed to a legacy act, that's cool.

I like that.

Does Kendrick Lamar have a deep enough catalog of hits to connect with the masses?

I'm not quite there.

I know he has, if you're a hip-hop fan or a pop music fan, you're going to know all those songs.

So, but I understand also this is, they're in a new world now.

It's not, we're not, it's the who is not out there anymore.

They're not rolling out McCartney.

This is a different different era.

And Kendrick Lamar, I thought he was very expert.

McCartney was actually there, so they could have rolled him out had they.

Yeah, but it's time.

They made the right move to move on from

the classic rock acts.

I thought he did a great show.

Maybe he needed a couple more hits would have been good, but

that's just my take.

I'm not a Kendrick Lamar super fan.

I know his big hits.

But Samuel Jackson, I love the way they, the whole setup of it was great, and Serena Williams dancing at the end was awesome.

But Sam Jackson, he's kind of like, he's reached this level,

and I like it because it breaks down all barriers, you know, whether you're white, black, whatever.

Like, he's kind of feels like he's family now.

Like, he's just this American icon where it's like, oh, there's Sam.

And then Sam's going to say something cool.

And it would have been cool if he could say another effer in it.

But right now, and he just said Titan Up at a certain point, which is probably now going to be played on our podcast forever because our producer is insane.

But shout out.

Your thoughts on the halftime show, Sussex?

No, totally solid.

I was hoping that, you know, I always thought like air supply would have been a good option there, but like they go kind of,

I like had a vibrant conversation.

Can I just say, every time we've ever talked halftime show, I don't know what's happening with these.

Anytime I like throw it to you, you always say some variation of it's totally solid.

It's not, I would say, well, can I make one comment that's not I would love you to.

Go ahead.

Like we've been there.

We were lucky to be there outside of the covet year live and when you're watching a halftime show live at the stadium a you're probably doing like a little bit of work or something too but like it is impossible to understand what's happening visually yes um so to watch it on television like the whole game to me felt far away because we weren't there this time i guess that's just a personal thing but like the halftime show felt it felt far away for me but like totally nailed it like um and i don't i'm not a huge like i'm not an aficionado of that of kenrick lamar like i'm not gonna to comment on who he is, but like, um, it was fine, like, it was fine.

And then suddenly it was over, and then we're, you know, we're moving on.

So that's how I take most things.

Yeah, well, you know, me, like, that's like what you know.

No, I know, I know.

One day you'll get your dream, and Steve Winwood will get the big stage.

That will not be happening, but yeah.

Dolphin Golfin says, How about the wild sound of 50,000 shouting, A minor?

Yeah, one of my losers is Drake, and we don't need to talk about how

reshaped

Drake's entire career, but it had to be weird.

Wherever Drake was watching the game, because he's watching the game, he's a big sports fan.

Probably with a bunch of

hangers around him and stuff.

Yeah, his handlers and stuff.

They all have to pretend like this is in an absolutely devastating moment of his most hated rival literally playing the Super Bowl, playing a song about him being inappropriate with women that might not be of age.

That's outrageous.

Not opportune.

Outrageous at it.

Not opportune.

The score bug.

I'm going to put that in losers.

Can you flash that up, Justin?

Yeah, I mean, and

this isn't some hot takes.

A lot of people kind of were having fun with it.

It just seems a little bit overly.

And I get they were trying to go for something simple, but a little too big, a little too blocky, not for me.

You don't like that.

You don't like that?

Yeah, a little bit too much for me.

I know you have bad vision, so it was probably good for you and the other

Gen Xers out there.

Gravedigger, what are your thoughts, apparently?

The thing I hated the most about the score bug,

and it was not just this main score bug, but...

Well, I did ask, you know what, Justin, I have to interrupt.

Mark first.

I asked Mark his.

Well, I absolutely want to hear what you're saying.

And then you can jump in.

Absolutely.

I want to hear everybody.

Well, I agree all you were saying, so it made me think of it.

But yes, go ahead, Mark.

I thought it looked, I thought it, well, I'm just saying it looked artistic.

I kind of thought it was interesting.

Where I was watching the game early on, it caught the eye of the viewers.

So I thought they did what they wanted to do.

Justin, how did you feel about it?

I just got to get to Justin's take on this.

The fact that the

not just the main bug, but every time they put like a lower third like information bar of any kind,

they it this non-background aspect, like the not no like block of color or anything, just like the zeros on top of the field or like

so-and-so stat line just with nothing behind it was really jarring.

It was like they had a layer turned off, it looked really weird, and I hated it.

Okay,

well, I actually

hope, like, in Dallas, you'll, you know, maybe when you get to Dallas, you'll have a different take on this because I thought aesthetically, it was pleasing on some level.

Yeah, I think people may, if you missed any of the shows from New Orleans, and shame on you,

Justin is, is, and his lovely fiancé are moving to Texas.

He's continuing on as our producer, but Mark and I aren't happy about it.

So we're just, you know, we're happy for him.

Yes.

But we wanted him all to ourselves here in California.

So if you're picking up on any type of just

seething animosity, it's that.

We wanted Justin in our arms forever, and he's going back to big Texas.

But we're happy that you're still going to be in our world, Justin.

But we want you to work.

Clearly, we are processing this

in real time.

Nothing's really going to change.

We meet up

every few months to talk show stuff and that we can still do that.

Jessica and I will be back in LA every few months.

She's got work stuff here, and we'll see each other plenty.

It'll be great.

Have you thought about the gravitational pull of the Titans helmet and how it might change in Texas?

That is a concern.

We'll just have to see how that plays out.

Okay, a couple more losers real quick.

Taylor Swift, she went 0 for 6 at the Grammys last Sunday and then goes to this Chiefs Kelsey apocalypse, gets booed.

Yeah,

that's not good for her.

Tough, tough.

And then finally,

it didn't matter.

And I know that the league's out here shoving it down everyone's throat that the new kickoff rule is tremendous and, oh, it works so well.

And it's like, okay, if you say so.

But you have a Chiefs team that's down 34-6

at the end of the third quarter after scoring their first touchdown of the game, and they don't even have the option for an outside kick.

That just seems dumb.

That feels like something that they need to just rectify.

Because the rule as it stands,

as we know, there's no more surprise on side kicks, but then you can't even attempt one until the fourth quarter.

And it just seems arbitrary and stupid and doesn't account for a team literally in the Super Bowl needing to wipe out a 27-point deficit, and they can't afford to kick it back off with

three minutes or two minutes to play in the third quarter.

I mean, change happens in this league when the playoffs shine a light on things that need to be improved.

I hope the league's like, oh, yeah, let's just clean that up.

I totally agree with that.

Like, if anything, I'd say the NFL has been pretty good about, and we've already seen new examples going into this offseason of like, we're going to refresh this, look at this, change this, adjust adjust this.

I'd say a winner, is it a winner or a loser?

But like, anyone tired of the like refs, like that there's 186 refs who are in some sort of cabal where like they're on a text thread together where they're like

all trying to make the Chiefs win games.

Like that, that went to bed a little bit tonight just because they got their butts burned.

Like we don't have to deal with it.

There were a couple rough calls early in the game.

One, that it went against the Eagles on an OPI against Brown that shouldn't have been and then a absurd late hit that was called against the Chiefs that sustained an Eagles scoring drive so you know the league again the league keep on telling you Roger Cadell could call press conferences every week if he wants to say the officiating is fine but it should be better and it needs to be better and if they need to use technology to make it better go figure it out because Too many games left people scratching their heads.

Well, many of these men are like, you know, they're also like lawyers or accountants, or they work in like meat packing plants.

Like they're doing that along with the refereeing jobs.

Yeah, I don't know if that's really true.

Aren't they?

Like, I feel like aren't they doing other jobs along with the officiation?

Yeah, but I don't know if they're like working in the coal mines, like with my uncles.

Well, we can't bury those mythologies.

We've got to act like those are true.

I would say Kevin Hart was a loser, but I said Brady had a good week and I thought a solid game.

But he he really tried to land a revenge hit against Kevin Hart, the comedian.

That did not.

Kevin Hart came after him hard in the Tom Brady roast last spring.

And let's just listen on that.

Kevin Hart's here?

Yeah.

How do the cameras find Kevin Hart?

Depends on the day, I guess.

Kevin, I love you.

You took so many shots at me in May.

I'm coming right back at you.

Yeah,

so I actually was at that roast, remember?

But I would say that's why Tom Brady is not being brought back to roast other people.

That wasn't funny.

And Kevin Burkhardt's doing the best he can with a clunky.

What was Burkhardt's response?

He was like, oh, well,

depends on the day.

Depends on the day.

Well, if he's on set, it's a short show.

Burkhardt did the best he could with a short funky line by Brady.

How about Burkhard?

You could hear his shaking in his voice when the producer got in in his ear.

He's like, all right, we're going to have to introduce Rupert Murdoch, head of Fox, in his suite now.

Please get this right.

Please get this right.

He's like, all praise Lord Murdoch.

So he's going to be a good one.

That was well delivered by him.

He did.

Good job.

Nice job.

Well, I don't know where Greg Olson was, but maybe one day they'll be reunited.

Ad Reed,

are you playing on Underdog yet?

Okay, anything in the chat before we get into our final thoughts on a grand, this grand experiment of heed the call.

We put a cap on our first season.

Lemon Bendy asks, I know someone whose first football game was tonight, and she probably thinks Patrick Mahomes is pretty bad at football.

Sports, comma, man.

That's all I could really say to that, Cesi.

Yeah, I mean, like, it's, it's not, um, if this is your first

view of Patrick Mahomes,

I'd say

the evidence is not there, but like, what can I do?

If you're a young girl and you're watching him for the first time and you don't like what you saw, like, that's your opinion.

Connor Feeney, remember when no one wanted to draft the Eagles in the contender draft?

Nice pick, Gravedigger.

Okay.

I mean, Jesus Christ.

Thank you, Connor.

Next.

Bring this up.

Pat's fan Ben, winners of the season, the hedonists.

Oh, that's very nice.

And look at that.

We got like a big, we have our biggest room full of hedonists all season for a Super Bowl recap of a game that was dick.

So, Mark, what else can you say and Justin, other than we're very blessed to have you guys?

And we had a great live show that was sold out at Sports Drink in New Orleans, our last night there.

And, you know, we got a lot of great feedback, Mark, about our Super Bowl week.

And we hear the feedback.

And some of it's better than others, but we hear a lot of it.

And

there were, you know, this was a different Super Bowl

year for us.

And we think as heed the call develops, we'll probably have, hopefully, scenarios where we're back at the game and all that, and this is a transition year for us.

And, like, not being at Radio Row is not something that I feel like the show was missing.

In fact, the fact that we were able to kind of post up at the Heed House with our friends and do shows in person together for the first time and

have Zumwalt join us and JP

and

everybody else that Jordan, of course, and Connor and Pete Sweeney, like those were some of my favorite shows that we've done, period, in the 115, 120 we've done so far.

And if nothing else, like it was maybe a little bit of a light bulb thing, Mark, for us when you talk about how we want to cover the Super Bowl going forward.

I was thinking about this.

I came home with like a massive, I don't know if it's a head cold or what, but I am like 8% of my normal self right now.

But I will say one thing.

I was thinking about every Super Bowl that we've covered together, you and me, because

we've done them all together.

Like we've done everything, we've had very matching, mirrored NFL careers.

This was my favorite year, and this was my favorite Super Bowl week, even though we weren't at the game.

Like,

I thought that we created this space where these people that we love to work with came over and did it with us.

We hung out at night.

It was really special.

And I have to give a big thanks to Justin, who took a big chance to come do all this with us this year.

And the Connors and the Jordans and the Mics and the

Zumwalts, all of them, the Pete's, like

it's, I don't know, this, like, other years were just like

we were inside some giant sort of corporate spaceship.

This is different.

We had to go out on our own, and it means a lot.

And Dan, like, you, you and I took a chance on each other, and like, I would do it again 10,000 times in a row.

Love you, buddy.

And we didn't have to ask one person about bounty paper towels.

You know, that.

I mean, there are a lot of shows where you could find out all about some of the consumer goods that one can be found.

At Heath House, it was just about ball and friendship, and that's what this show is about.

Anything else,

Justin, from the chat?

I got a few if you want to spin through some.

Sure.

Peter Milkrate.

Dan and Mark look like if the Doseki's man got separated into two people.

Probably a put-down, but that's fine.

Yeah, I'm not sure what that means, and I'm not sure I like the week.

Christopher Vargas, I wish we got

more Taylor Swift in the the booth.

A la Jerry Jodes, sad cam.

Yeah, I remembered one shot.

I could have missed the second one,

and I thought she looked great, but it wasn't.

It's like the first time I

remember her being at a game where they lost.

So, you know, we'll see if it will be a good test now to see if the relationship continues.

Put it that way.

Oh, they probably broke up like 25 minutes ago.

She'll just wait at the finish line for the, she's probably now dating an Eagle.

Cooper Dejean, she's dating him.

now that would hurt wow uh lemon bendy congrats on your first season you guys do great work ding

did that one just to hit the ding couple more

goldface kanye having an ad was very insane after his week now i missed that i must have been uh i must have stepped out that was a wild ad

i i

think dan this would be so up your alley go find this and what this was a wild piece of work i don't know what

on friday no I'm saying how do you like well listen it's it's advertising and it's not exactly the most it's it's not art it's about money and commerce and uh but when you go on a tweet rampage talking about how turning down photos with make-a-wish kids and praising like um you know historic evil men of the 20th century like Adolf Hitler it's like I don't know how you you get a commercial on the air that surprises me that the that the standard yeah and that's what it's about mark yeah I mean, I'm just saying, like, go watch it because I don't understand.

Well, whatever.

It was just in a haze, but it was like, what on earth?

What's happening here to our earth?

Anything else?

Last one.

Dolphin golfin, what was your best meal or beverage in NOLA?

Well, I think, well, I would say, Dan, like the dinner that we all had together was.

That was great.

I don't really feel like we went out a lot, right?

Like, we didn't go out on the town much.

No,

we had a great time.

After we did our live show, and I think this says a lot to put a bow on things.

I had a good red snapper at that restaurant N7.

That was delicious.

After we did our live show,

and it was a success, we could have went out in New Orleans and done the bourbon street, but what we did was we went back to the house.

Yep.

And we invited anybody that wanted to come back.

And we had a nice small crew.

And we just celebrated each other and what we had achieved both that night but also that week but this whole first season of heed the call uh and um

and i am so excited for what we have coming up this year we are just warming up uh the first year of this show was about just finding grabbing on to something holding on and reestablishing that we are in fact going to continue on mark and i are with justin are so excited to figure out like now fine-tuning this tank which in case you did not know does not have any reverse gears.

So year two of Heat is going to be even better than year one, and we cannot wait,

and we could not do it without your guys' support.

So thank you to you, the listeners, and you guys.

We got this together.

Are we skipping other stuff?

Should I just move this thing to wrap up?

Or do you want to hit other stuff?

No, we can talk about it.

Well, we're going to take the week off, Mark, right?

And we're going to regroup.

Like, Aaron Rodgers learned that he will

not be a New York Jet, which although I thought it would have been good for the Jets to have him, I totally understand why they're making this decision to totally reboot.

Was there anything else that we were going to touch on quickly?

Justin, Debo Samuel has been granted permission to seek a trade.

That sounds like something we could talk about in two weeks, Mark.

I think so too.

I think so, too.

But, Justin, as always, your detailed nature is

a positive for all of us.

So thank you.

Thanks.

Happy to be detailed.

Look at us.

Look at us.

That's it.

Thank you to everybody in the chat.

I know

you people over there

London and surrounding territories, all over the world, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Germany.

The Hague, the Netherlands, of course, the United States of America.
