Speaker 2 What are your thoughts on Shador Sanders getting the rock?

Speaker 3 You can put that to bed. It's a ridiculous argument.
Now, maybe he needs to get out of Cleveland.

Speaker 4 Maybe it's just the organization.

Speaker 3 By the way, I would want him to get out of there too.

Speaker 2 All right, welcome to another episode of Throwbacks. Please take a second and follow us on all social platforms at Throwback Show.
Go to the YouTube, subscribe, press the button. It's free.

Speaker 2 Don't forget us. And

Speaker 2 Maddie, I got a road game today.

Speaker 3 Bro, you're dad of the year right now.

Speaker 2 Just grinding right now. Yeah,

Speaker 2 your boy's in a road game. I'm at Disney World with the family.
You know, wife seven and a half months pregnant, seven and a half months pregnant.

Speaker 2 Apparently, this is the last thing we're going to do as a family of four. It's a very important time.

Speaker 3 So this is a big deal. Big deal.

Speaker 2 Please pray for me.

Speaker 2 If you see me in a theme park, just shout words of encouragement you can do it i mean you've posted i mean your wife posted you just you're just a napper you're just napping wherever you can get it just in the middle of a of a little couch circle with just fans and guests everywhere you're just just napping throughout the day if there's a seat and i have more than five minutes i'm sitting down in the park and i'm i'm i'm sleeping i'm taking a five minute you've officially become that guy that's when you that's when you know you're getting a little bit older look it is true well speaking of that guy we have that guy come on the show today because you know him from like a hundred million reality shows, Wells Adams.

Speaker 2 Man, I'm curious how you met Wells.

Speaker 3 So I met Wells. So, well, I've actually been a fan of Wells because I used to love the Bachelor, Bachelorette series.
I don't watch it as much anymore.

Speaker 3 And then he's become like the staple bartender on Bachelor in Paradise for a long time.

Speaker 3 So everybody loves Wells. Great dude, big personality.
Just like you watch him, you're like, oh man, I want to be boys with that guy.

Speaker 3 So I got a chance to meet him this past summer in Tahoe for the golf tournament. I was out there with Travis Matthew.
He was out there doing some stuff with Travis Matthew and doing like

Speaker 3 some stuff for his YouTube with Chad Mum. They host the Vanity Index podcast together, the golf podcast.
So, we played, it was me, Austin Reeves, Chad, and Wells.

Speaker 2 And we played that for some.

Speaker 3 Oh, it was fun. We played that practice round and we just had a blast, man, and just got to talk.
Like, his family, some of his family went to USC.

Speaker 3 he went to ole miss so definitely a lot of a lot of ole miss news right now

Speaker 3 yeah we get some stories out of him but uh great dude and and i'm pumped to talk to him man just because he's like i he might not be mount rush more reality tv but he's done it all like as a contestant as a host um like his resume is ridiculous And even the show that everyone keeps telling me I have to watch because I'm a big like murder mystery clue mafia fan is traitors and he was on this past.

Speaker 2 He's spoiler alert. I mean, it's out there in public.

Speaker 3 He didn't last long.

Speaker 2 I think his wife Sarah was very disappointed that he got the boot so early. So we're going to talk to him about that.
And he has a show also, Sweet Empire, Winter Wars.

Speaker 2 It's a baking show, but it's on Food Network. So he's just everywhere.
And Matt, I know you're always on the hunt.

Speaker 2 for a great reality gig and maybe Wells could help you know put the word in but if you could have your choice if there was a draft of reality shows and you could say hey i hope this show drafts me what reality show would you hope drafts matt linert the hoe the reality host oh a host or is it or host contestant whatever whatever your choice i think i i think uh i think dancing with the stars really

Speaker 2 yeah although that just gives me it gives me anxiety just thinking about it but yeah but if dancing with the stars called you right now and they were like matt we are very interested in you for season 100 and whatever they're on you're like full stop all in.

Speaker 2 Do we even have to think about it?

Speaker 3 They shoot during the fall. So that's challenging.
But yeah, I mean, I just think it's one of those things where

Speaker 3 I say this to everyone.

Speaker 3 And this is like, no joke, I'm at a point in my life where I've branched out and want to do other things that maybe make me uncomfortable or something that I wouldn't have been able to do.

Speaker 3 And my wife brought that out of me. Like when my mom passed away, true story, like eight years ago, I was like, you know what? Like I'm more than a football player.
I want to do all this other stuff.

Speaker 3 And dude, I skated for the LA Kings, but I didn't know how to skate in front of the craziest thing I've ever seen anyone do. Mario Lemieux.

Speaker 3 And I was like, I'm going to make an ass of myself, but I'm going to do it.

Speaker 3 So I'm just kind of in that mindset of trying new things and embracing it and having fun and all that. So I think that would be a fun challenge.

Speaker 3 I know a lot of people have done it.

Speaker 3 And as a host, I mean, gosh, I don't know. Hosting would be fun too, though.
But I mean, Wells is like, he's got the greatest gig in the world, man. He's just hosting all these baking shows.

Speaker 3 He's a bartender giving group therapy to, you know, mid-20 something year olds trying to find love. Like the guy's got it made.

Speaker 2 We're going to get to the Wells interview right now, but also stick around because after that, Annie Agar joining us with Twisted Tea.

Speaker 2 We're going to do more trivia and we're going to hit a little Shador Sanders stuff, a little Cam Scataboo stuff and the Thursday, the Thanksgiving and Christmas Day slate. So, but first we give you.

Speaker 2 Wells Adams. All right.

Speaker 3 This one's got me fired up. Today on the show, we're joined by one of Reality TV's most beloved personalities.

Speaker 3 You know him from The Bachelorette, or as the world's most overqualified and my favorite bartender, where he's part host, part therapist, part matchmaker, and part guy who hounds out tequila when things get messy on Bachelor in Paradise.

Speaker 3 One of my guilty pleasures. He's a radio veteran.
He also did a sin on Traders, a very short stint.

Speaker 3 He's a pretty decent golfer. I've seen it.
The host of the Vanity Index podcast with Chad Mum, the Your Favorite Thing podcast with Brandy Cyrus, and the the host of Sweet Empire Winter Wars.

Speaker 3 Holy shit, dude. That is like, like, your resume is longer than, than anyone I know.
Wells Adams joins the show, guys. Wells Adams.

Speaker 2 What's up, brother?

Speaker 3 Was that good or no?

Speaker 6 That was good. You like that? I mean, I think it was Chat GPT that wrote that, but I still think it was pretty good.

Speaker 3 What did I miss? I'm sure I missed something. I mean, this resume is ridiculous.

Speaker 6 No,

Speaker 6 that's pretty much it.

Speaker 6 Usually people are like, he's the poor one in the relationship with his wife who I'm on her family I usually get that one oh we wouldn't do we wouldn't do that to you but I do appreciate you letting all the listeners and viewers know that yes I was on two episodes of traders I was the first one banished from that

Speaker 2 fucking show but here we are you know I

Speaker 2 I'm everyone I know has been telling me you gotta watch traders you gotta watch traders i'm a big like uh werewolves and villagers mafia guy all that so i haven't checked out your see but i read some of the clips from you coming out there.

Speaker 2 Did it feel like you shamed the family? Because I feel like that's been the headline so far. I don't know if they're egging you on it.
Did you actually feel like it was a letdown for you?

Speaker 6 Oh, I was so embarrassed.

Speaker 2 Like,

Speaker 6 so see, I mean, look at the truth of the matter is, is that I have a little bit of

Speaker 6 sheltering when it comes to Bachelor in Paradise, right? Like, they're, yeah, it's not good to make me look bad as the

Speaker 2 therapist bartender.

Speaker 6 So, I'm sheltered a little bit by production, but they're not, they didn't care and they were just

Speaker 6 straight out and same thing um

Speaker 6 you know my wife's an actress so like when i first got out here i never played werewolf or mafia when i lived in nashville doing radio but when i came out here that's all all these big game they sit around they play this game and i i should have known because i was i was terrible then and then when they asked me to do the show everyone was like oh you're going to be good you're you know you're really analytical you're a good people person your political game will be great and i was like yeah yeah i will be great And immediately, immediately was knocked off that show.

Speaker 6 But I have a theory on why I got kicked off so quickly. And I don't kind of blame everyone for doing it.

Speaker 6 You know, I was surrounded by like a lot of like housewives and

Speaker 6 other reality TV stars that they kind of are just always

Speaker 6 insane, like constantly. Like they never turn it off.
Whereas when, you know, I was a radio guy. So like I didn't turn it on until like the red light was on, right? And same with Paradise.

Speaker 6 Like if nothing's going on, I'm, I'm not like trying to joke around and laugh. And I'm like saving all that stuff for the show.
And so everyone clocked it.

Speaker 6 Like we would be doing missions and they'd put cameras down and they'd be like, don't talk or whatever. Like if you talk, just talk, you know, like about your families or something.

Speaker 6 Don't talk about gameplay. And I would just completely check out and everyone was like, there's something wrong with this guy.
Like he turns off.

Speaker 6 And I was like, listen, I just have so much like energy in the tank. And, like, I'm not going to waste it if cameras aren't being pointed at us.

Speaker 6 So I remember like in the tour, they cut it out because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense when someone's like, you weren't talking when the cameras weren't on because you assume cameras are always on.

Speaker 6 But that was something that people were like, there's something wrong with this guy. You don't talk when cameras aren't on.
I was like, dude, I'm just chilling.

Speaker 6 You're trying to wait, you know, wait for cameras to get picked back up.

Speaker 2 So yeah, I got cooked pretty quickly.

Speaker 3 Who won? Who won your season? Did Efron win your season?

Speaker 6 Yeah, Dylan won dolores uh won lord ivor won and gabby won as well so yeah

Speaker 6 extra painful because gabby you know was from like the bachelor world and um she won and i was off immediately ephron's on a heater right now dancing with the stars he's still he's still on i went to dancing with the stars last week for the like the 20th you know year anniversary and i sat with his dad it was a really cute story so like after we were sitting, well, we were sitting behind the Irwins, which was kind of like crazy for me.

Speaker 6 But after the show, someone came up and was like, hey, I'm a huge fan of yours. And like, you know, whatever happened on Traders, you know, I'm really sorry you got robbed or something like that.

Speaker 6 And I was like, oh, traders, this is Zach's or this is Dylan's dad.

Speaker 6 And the girl turns to him and goes, oh my God, I'm such a huge fan of Dylan. And

Speaker 6 his dad turns to me and goes, it's really nice. For years, I've only ever heard I'm a huge fan of Jack.
And now it's

Speaker 6 here that people are a fan of Dylan and like knowing how great of a guy he is. And I was like, oh, that's like the sweetest thing ever.

Speaker 3 But yeah, he's on a major glow right now.

Speaker 2 Yeah. I feel like it's a good time for brothers.
He's on a run. Dave Franco has like the number one movie in the country.

Speaker 2 Brothers are on the rise.

Speaker 2 I feel you, though. So I feel basically what you're saying is like your silence in your professionalism of I'm going to save it for the camera made you look suspicious almost though.
For sure.

Speaker 2 Made it be like, this guy's a threat. We got

Speaker 2 see

Speaker 2 i love the hollywood mafia werewolves and villagers game but it is kind of crazy when you think that like i don't know if you've ever played with your wife in the same game i once went with this person i was dating and it's a game of lying matt all you got to do is just be really good at lying i've played it yeah I can end relationships actually a horrible idea to go do that with your significant other in my opinion it did not work out so well for me and I'm really good at lying too

Speaker 6 like i do it's a great quality to have well i do this bit a lot with my wife and so she doesn't believe anything i say but like a lot of times if we're like visiting a new place i'll make up some stat some historical stat that's not true at all i love that i like totally forget about it and so she's now realized that i'm always making stuff up so she's like i don't believe anything and then i'm like we have to go ask chat gpt tell us about tell us about sweet empire winter wars because you've done you've done a you did a pizza show before right you did you hosted that.

Speaker 3 And I'm actually curious if you prefer hosting over being like a contestant on a show.

Speaker 6 Oh, much prefer hosting.

Speaker 6 It's so much easier. Like I, yeah, I did, I did a show called Best in Doe with Danielle Uditti, who's the owner of Pizzana.
So if you live in LA, you kind of know that place. And that was awesome.

Speaker 6 I mean, we all gained like 20 pounds doing that show, but

Speaker 6 it's the same, it's the same production company, Alfred Street, that is doing this Food Network show called Sweet Empire Weird Tours. So they hit me up when Food Network asked

Speaker 6 us to make the show. And yeah, it's like I'm telling, like, it's the best gig in the world.
Like, you go, you hit a mark, you read a teleprompter, you eat food. And then that's all you got.

Speaker 3 You got it made, dude.

Speaker 6 I like, honestly, dude, I mean, like, I do a show where I make drinks in quote unquote paradise. That's a slog.
It's like 18-hour shoot days. I'm on it the entire time.
This is

Speaker 6 the best. And we got to do it in Toronto, which has a great food scene.

Speaker 6 Yeah, Sweet Empire is fun.

Speaker 6 It's kind of like, there's a lot of these shows, like Is It Cake? And, you know, like Harry Potter. It's like hyper-realistic cake building.

Speaker 6 I mean, these guys are bakers, but really they're like sculptors and artists. And the stuff that they make on this show is.
wild. And it's obviously Winter War.
So it's like during the holidays.

Speaker 6 So when family comes home for Thanksgiving and for Christmas, everyone should turn it on because it's very in the spirit of the of the holiday. And you get some ideas about like things you could do

Speaker 6 over the holidays. I mean, obviously, like they're doing stuff that like you can't do, but it is cool to, it's cool to watch.
And it was a really fun show to do.

Speaker 2 Also, and I don't know if this is because I'm currently, I don't know if you could tell, I am at Disney World with my family. Hold up in a hotel room.
I'm going to do a sleep at Disney World.

Speaker 3 Yeah,

Speaker 3 this guy's been at Disney World.

Speaker 2 Wells. Almost a week.
This is the greatest break.

Speaker 2 When we confirm this interview, I'm like, you know, I look noon to two. I'm like, we're talking to Wells till three.
My wife's like, wait a minute, you're doing a three-hour interview?

Speaker 2 People are like, yep, is that turtle just napping on the middle of the hotel lobby? I do have to say, the title, it literally sounds like one of the Avengers episodes.

Speaker 2 I'm guessing that was like intentional, Sweet Empire Winter Wars. I get the feeling that it gets intense on this show.

Speaker 6 Yeah, so like the wrinkle in this show is the first episode, we have four team bakers and we all make them individually go make something, right?

Speaker 6 Like it's like a present or something, something you found underneath the tree or something like that.

Speaker 6 And then

Speaker 6 basically we vote for the top six. And then those top six get to choose who's going to be on their quote unquote empire.
So then it becomes like a game of dodgeball, right? No one wants.

Speaker 6 And if you're picked last, you're out. The last two are out.

Speaker 6 And then as the show goes on, teams that like don't win, their empires crumble and then they get absorbed by the other teams and so what's cool about this is there is gameplay to it right like if you're a chocolateier then you want a sugar artist or you want a cake builder because everyone kind of has their specialities and they're all trying to build their like their best team um

Speaker 6 And so there's a little bit of a political game as well, right? Like all these people have won different cake building challenges on food network and and stuff. So someone's the leader of the empire.

Speaker 6 Someone has to be kind of like the peasant of the empire. And that's a weird

Speaker 6 like dynamic shift for them. And so like there's internal conflict in that respect.

Speaker 6 So it's, it's almost like a little bit like the challenge or traders for that matter. And then also baking wise, which I thought was kind of a cool wrinkle to like an old classic.

Speaker 2 So you mentioned something too, a Bachelor in Paradise.

Speaker 2 Now, I, you know, i've been around now i i remember being the young actor now i'm like the old guy right and i remember going back gosh i don't remember when what year this strike was might have been like 07 08 but i just remember when like reality tv was like you were all the actors are put on notice it's like this is coming you can't stop it it's gonna take over and all the yeah sure i feel like i was conditioned to like hate on it and then i became a fan of it so now when i look at all the shows i like now as i get older i try to analyze it as what's your quality of life for the job, right?

Speaker 2 Now I got kids and stuff. I love golf.

Speaker 2 So you mentioned, I was going to ask you about the workload with Bachelor in Paradise, because it seems as a viewer like you're there, you do your thing, and then you got this downtime.

Speaker 2 But is it the same as actors on the set where you're there waiting around for your turn, so to speak, or when something happens, they need you? Are you sort of on call for 18 hours on set?

Speaker 6 Yeah, it's not like I get to go sit in my,

Speaker 6 you know, Star Wars trailer for, you know, hours on end and play Madden.

Speaker 6 I've been to like my wife's set and I'm like, you guys don't ever do anything.

Speaker 2 This don't.

Speaker 6 I'm constantly on call. So we changed, we changed locations for Paradise this past season.
So it was a little bit different.

Speaker 6 But in the past, we were filming in Mexico at an actual like working resort called Playa Escondida. And effectively, I just lived on site.
I originally lived off site and they'd bring me in.

Speaker 6 But once they realized that like they need me for

Speaker 6 anytime something goes wrong, they'll be like, send Wells in, send whoever's like upset to talk to him immediately. So I was just always on call.

Speaker 6 So I would just, you know, sit around waiting for them to be like, we need you on set in 15. Like, I'd keep my mic pack like in my room and it's like, you know, like go to the control room.

Speaker 6 What do you guys want me to do? Who do you want to talk to? What's Neil? Okay, down. Then go and film it.

Speaker 6 And then, you know, we have these really,

Speaker 6 you film reality, you know, you really film for about 18 hours a day.

Speaker 6 I know that's what you, I mean, you really film for 24 hour days because we have cameras in the rooms, but for like camera guys walking around with you, it's like 18 hours a day. And so

Speaker 6 effectively, you know, I'll go, especially for a rose ceremony day, that's a really long day. So I'll go down, I'll start making drinks like at three,

Speaker 6 and then I won't rap until, I mean, for the old set, I wouldn't rap until like four in the morning. And it's just a crazy long vlog.

Speaker 6 And it's also hot and like can't have air really because that messes with sound. And so, yeah, it's, it's a, it's a lot of work.

Speaker 6 And the thing that most people are surprised to find out about my job is they're like, well, you're not really making the drinks.

Speaker 6 And I'm like, no, we can't, the bar is too small to have like someone else. The props.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 6 Like, I can't.

Speaker 6 I have generally a camera guy, a sound guy, and a producer in my bar with me. I can't have like a, like, another person to help me.
So I'm having to make all the drinks. I'm having to like stock it.

Speaker 6 Like, it's a, it's like a normal, real

Speaker 6 bartending job

Speaker 6 that just also like comes with, okay, try to get this person to cry. I'm like, all right, I can do that.

Speaker 3 I, I'm at the age now where, you know, in my sports career, there's like this gap of like older guys know me, the younger generation has no clue, right?

Speaker 2 Their dads know me.

Speaker 3 So it's like this, it's this weird kind of mental, like, like gymnastics with me. It's like, God, am I that old?

Speaker 3 When you're bartending there, I think we might have talked about this when we golfed the summer together. Do you, do you feel like a major disconnect at some point? Because these,

Speaker 3 they're kids, essentially. Some of them are really young.
Are you just like, shit, man, I'm going to ride the wave.

Speaker 6 I feel like I got a lot of great advice to give like it's got to go through your mind right when you're when you're serving like 23 year olds yeah so this is i just did my eighth season right so when i first went on the show i was a peer to everyone right

Speaker 6 and so it felt totally normal and it was easy to talk to people and then i it was last season or two seasons ago where they started using terminology like bet and like mid and stuff and i was like oh dude this is you're like dude i need to get out of here i'm like the creepy old uncle at this point.

Speaker 6 Like, this is not good. So, yeah, it's, I'm surprised that they keep me like coming around.
Like, I'm surprised they haven't gone a little bit younger. But I do have like

Speaker 6 the value that I bring is that like I'm in a like a healthy, stable relationship of which everyone's trying to find

Speaker 6 have good advice to give them when it comes to relationships and dating and stuff.

Speaker 6 But yeah, it's,

Speaker 6 it's passed me by for sure.

Speaker 2 I am the old guy. But I get that.
You're now us your relationship success story and then you're off in the corner going, uh, hey, Siri, what does six, seven mean? What is all these kids talking about?

Speaker 2 Which I still can't figure out the damn answer, by the way. I've had a hundred kids like mention it while I'm here, and I still don't quite know what's going on.

Speaker 5 Breakfast might be the most important choice you make all day. That's because at Wendy's two for $3 breakfast, you could mix and match your very own perfect pairing of our delicious morning favorites.

Speaker 3 With this breakfast deal, the choice is all yours. It's not someone else's.

Speaker 3 This one's all you.

Speaker 5 All you got to do is pick your ideal morning pair.

Speaker 3 You really can't lose because you're the one calling the shots. The choice is all yours.
Wake up to Wendy's $2 for $3 breakfast just the way you want it. Limited time only during breakfast hours.
U.S.

Speaker 3 price and participation may vary. No substitutions, not valid in a combo, single item at regular price.

Speaker 5 What's up, guys? I just want to take a second and tell you about something that's been really great in helping me maintain a healthy lifestyle. That's cachava.

Speaker 5 Whether you are on the field, off the field, or hosting a podcast like me, cachava's whole body meal shakes will keep your body and mind nourished all day.

Speaker 5 So for me, my health journey has been a long road. You know, I got into some really good shape years ago.

Speaker 5 And now 10 years later, having kids, being pretty busy with this podcast, for me, it was really hard for lunches.

Speaker 5 I feel like I could handle breakfast well and dinner well, but I needed that great meal replacement, something healthy for lunch. And that's where cachava came in.

Speaker 5 And first guess for me was the flavors. I said, What is this going to taste like? And chocolate has quickly become my favorite.
I'm a big chia seeds guy, lots of benefits from chia seeds.

Speaker 5 They also have 25 grams of plant protein. I was curious how plant protein was going to taste.
It was pretty good, as well as 26 vitamins and minerals, six grams of fiber.

Speaker 5 And it really is good for me being so on the go. No, I have something.
And my personal move is: I'm a big frozen fruit guy. That's why I get the smoothie to be really cold.

Speaker 5 So I add a little frozen fruit. When I want to feel a little fuller, throw in a little bit of peanut butter right there.

Speaker 5 Cachava has been great, and I want to give you guys the chance to try it yourself. You can fuel your game with cachava if you go to cachava.com and use the code throwbacks for 15% off your next order.

Speaker 5 That's cachava, k-a-c-h-a-v-a.com. Code throwbacks for 15% off.
I'm curious to know your favorite flavor: chocolate, vanilla, chai, matcha, coconut, acai. I said that pretty right.

Speaker 5 So, again, kachava.com, throwbacks, 15% off. And let me know how you like to use it.

Speaker 2 So,

Speaker 2 you know, it's holiday season. It's happening.
It's all coming. You got the show.
And this is where I really feel like, you know, the debate starts. Everyone has their holiday traditions.

Speaker 2 And people often overlook. Thanksgiving, right? Even now with football, and we're going to talk about this later in our show.

Speaker 2 It's almost like Christmas has overtaken for the best sports day now because you get NBA, NFL.

Speaker 2 Thanksgiving for you, I want to start one thing.

Speaker 3 Are you more host?

Speaker 2 Let's have everybody over or do you like, would you rather you and Sarah's, let's go somewhere and not have to clean up, not have to do anything? Are you a host or are you a guest?

Speaker 6 We're the host. We do like the friendsgiving, like the island of misfit toys.
Everyone comes over to our house. I'm a good cook.

Speaker 3 Thanks for thanks for the invite, by the way.

Speaker 2 Appreciate it.

Speaker 6 Well, so there's a caveat here. So Sarah's doing a Broadway show called Justin Time right now.
So she's in New York. So I'm going to New York this year.
So she has to perform at the

Speaker 6 Macy's Day parade.

Speaker 2 Oh, yeah.

Speaker 6 And then a peacock called me and they were like, hey, we need you to come down and do hosting for us as well. So now it's Thanksgiving's turned into a job for us.

Speaker 6 So we're not going to be doing anything other than just like working that day. But normally, yeah, I'm the host.

Speaker 6 And then I'm a good cook. My brother's a good cook.
He usually is over. And then obviously I'm the bartender.
So then I get everyone just absolutely plastered.

Speaker 6 And we've got a bunch of like friends who are musicians and stuff. And my wife's just a great singer.

Speaker 6 So then generally, what happens at our house, we got a piano in one of the rooms and guitars and stuff.

Speaker 6 And it'll devolve into like everyone blackout drunk singing like Ben Fold's five songs and like the entire

Speaker 6 thing of like rent or like wicked and stuff. It gets,

Speaker 6 it sounds epic. And in the, in the moment when you're like cross-eyed and drunk, you're like, this is amazing.

Speaker 6 And then you watch the videos the next day and you're like, Jesus Christ, we are horrible.

Speaker 2 Mommy doing this.

Speaker 3 So

Speaker 2 that sounds like a great time.

Speaker 3 Thanks for the invite.

Speaker 6 But next year, you can come.

Speaker 2 Next year, I'll be there.

Speaker 3 So there's, Jerry and I talked about this all week, and I am really curious of your thoughts. So in our house, the gift card debate for Christmas.

Speaker 3 I'm a very, I hate saying this because my wife hates this. I'm a very surface level gifter.

Speaker 3 I will spend a fortune to gift my wife whatever she wants, but I'm not like, it's hard for me to put a lot of thought and effort.

Speaker 3 And it's not because it's just because it's just like it's tough for me. So, she years ago has been like, gift cards show no effort.
I hate them. Never get me a gift card.

Speaker 3 Again, I get her, you know, like the Starbucks and dude, I'll get you $1,000 at Target and go. Like, go, go have a great day.

Speaker 3 Are gift cards acceptable presents to give your significant other?

Speaker 6 No, I would get in trouble for that as well. Yeah.
But it is frustrating because it's like, I don't get it. You have to tell me what you want.
You know, like,

Speaker 6 I have no fashion sense or style sense. Like, you want a handbag or something? I have no idea which one, which one, you need to, like, really kind of be in a direction.

Speaker 6 So I've just been God, but here's the thing. So she'll be like, I just want this one thing.
And of course, this one thing is like $3,000. And I'm like,

Speaker 6 this YSL bag is going to bankrupt me. I got to go do like 13 cameos just to be able to pay for this

Speaker 2 thing.

Speaker 6 So, yeah, I think gift cards are a bad play.

Speaker 2 But I love gift cards, though.

Speaker 3 That's the thing.

Speaker 6 I do this a lot. I hit my.
My wife's best friend up and I'm like, hey, what do I get her?

Speaker 6 What do you think she needs? What is she like lusting after when you guys go get brunch?

Speaker 2 And then I usually just go get that yeah that's a good idea i mean i'll do a dicks gift card or a best guy gift card and i'm i'm the happiest guy for a year it doesn't well also it's like i don't know about you else or even you matt but i don't mean this in like an ungrateful way but um i feel like at some point

Speaker 2 you know obviously you you've gotten your significant other gifts and stuff at some point like i i'm not saying i have everything but like there's nothing

Speaker 2 i haven't gotten a great gift is what i'm saying until i was like a kid like because when you're a kid you want it bad right? I can't wait for

Speaker 3 Brie to hear this and be like,

Speaker 2 what do you think, Jerry? The sweater is great. I love it.
Yes, I'm a rocket. Like, I have all the golf stuff I could ever need, which I'm sure you do as well.
You host a great golf podcast.

Speaker 2 I've been working to basically try to make a living as an average golfer, in a sense. Like, I just like, I almost would rather, like, let's go do something.

Speaker 2 Let's go have a fun night than make a memory as opposed to like, oh, I got this really cool sweater. Yeah, she's going to hear this and probably hate me.

Speaker 2 but here's where I make it up to her because I feel like this is a gift. And, Wells, I'm going to ask you: when does the tree go up? And then, more importantly, when does it go down?

Speaker 2 Because I feel like when it goes down is just as important as when it goes up.

Speaker 6 Yeah, um, I mean, I, it's got to go up after Thanksgiving, has to, yeah, I think that's weird when that is still up, and then it's going up before

Speaker 6 is, yeah, that's okay. Is it frocked?

Speaker 3 It's fake. I, I'm just, I got so much going on right now.
I just took down 50 boxes from the attic a couple of days ago.

Speaker 2 I got, go ahead, balls. Sorry.

Speaker 3 I'm flustered.

Speaker 6 Yeah. So I think it's got to go up after Thanksgiving.
And then I think you can,

Speaker 6 not too long after New Year's, do you need to take it down? Cause there's a lot going on between Christmas and New Year's where, like, I get it, like, you don't have time for this.

Speaker 6 But I think after New Year's, your first resolution needs to be like, let's get the house back in order.

Speaker 2 That's my thought.

Speaker 2 I also could do without the other one. When does yours going, Gary? Mine?

Speaker 2 Well, being that we just did this whole Disney trip, which was my version of, hey,

Speaker 2 I'm down for whatever. I'm really hoping to stretch it till

Speaker 2 first week of December. Give me to like December 5th.
And then right after New Year's, that thing comes down.

Speaker 6 Have you done the

Speaker 6 Guardians of Galaxy ride at Disney World?

Speaker 2 So I'm doing that Thursday. Oh, dude.

Speaker 2 Also, because my wife's also very pregnant, so she can't really go on those rides. And I have a six-year-old who's now into like going on the bigger stuff.

Speaker 2 So, yeah, I'm going to go on that for the first time. I'm hearing that stuff.

Speaker 3 That's the old Tower of Terror, right?

Speaker 2 No, that's the one that's at Disneyland.

Speaker 6 He's at Disney World, right? You're in Orlando?

Speaker 2 Yeah. And like, Matt, you haven't done Disney World in Orlando.
It's like the difference of like high school football versus the NFL. No shout to like Disneyland and LA.
It's amazing.

Speaker 2 That's a one-day. This thing right here, I'm in the playoffs right now.

Speaker 6 Yeah, there's three parks you got to deal with but dude that that ride that guardians of the galaxy ride in orlando is the greatest is the greatest ride i've ever been on in my entire life and can i can i ask uh yeah did you just go on it wells i mean or is this was you were like a teenager

Speaker 2 meet me down here

Speaker 6 dude she made let's me let's be fair she made the mouse a lot of money on my she has something coming she has something coming to her yeah um and she used to host like the disney like christmas parades and stuff so we go to Disneyland a lot.

Speaker 6 I was not the Disney adult, but I've been like sexually transmitted now that like I have to like go to Disneyland and Disney World and I like know all the stuff.

Speaker 6 Let me ask you such a douchey question. Do you guys have a plaid there?

Speaker 2 So I used to do that.

Speaker 3 It's not a douchey question. It's the only way to go, bro.

Speaker 2 I used to do that at Disneyland all the time.

Speaker 2 You're telling me you're raw dogging Disney World right now with fast passes.

Speaker 2 No, no, no. Here's so something interesting.
Our wives will get along really well because she's into the Disney stuff too. She treats this like a business operation.

Speaker 2 When I tell you, I have not waited online more than 10 minutes for any ride.

Speaker 2 That being said, I used to ball out.

Speaker 2 And I used to take my nephews and a big group and we go. And it's the best experience.
I cannot get better than getting it's like courtside Knicks game for Disney.

Speaker 2 And then once you do it, you're screwed. So I'm also a little scared to give my kids a taste of that because I just wonder what it's going to, what it's going to do to them in the future.

Speaker 2 And they're like, wait a minute, dad, why are all these people here? It's like, it's called a line, son. It's called a line.
Get in line. No, we're semi-raw dogging it.
It's been great.

Speaker 2 10 minutes, 12 minutes tops, and it's been great. Also, I've mastered, like when I sit, rule number one is whenever I'm butt on a chair, I nap.
I don't care where I am.

Speaker 2 If it's eight minutes, 10 minutes, I'm falling asleep all over this park. But you know what? I like the movie stuff.
That's where I really like, we're doing the big, cool movie stuff coming up.

Speaker 2 And I think it's a good segue to do the Wendy's Fresh take as our kind of top three. We're going off the fly here, Christmas movies.
Okay. And this could be your personal.

Speaker 2 It doesn't have to be what you think is the best. It could be the ones that are like the coolest for you.
Matt, I don't know if you want to swing first.

Speaker 2 I feel like we're going to overlap a little bit here.

Speaker 3 Well, I think we should just pass the whole the the dumb every year is diehard a Christmas movie, but we don't have to get into that.

Speaker 2 Mine are pretty easy, dude.

Speaker 3 And I'll start. So Home Alone, Home Alone number one, Elf number one, Elf number two, and

Speaker 3 Christmas Vacation number three. Although

Speaker 3 it did have one of the greatest scenes as a teenager of all time when, you know, she had the red bikini out of the pool.

Speaker 3 I think I watched that about 150 times in my room by myself, but those would be my three. Those would be my three.

Speaker 3 I just don't think that one stands a test of time for the generation of kids now, which is unfortunate.

Speaker 2 All right. Wells, you got three? You want me to swing first?

Speaker 6 No, I can go. Um, I'm going to go with

Speaker 6 a Christmas story.

Speaker 2 Your shooter, yeah. Classic.

Speaker 6 Fantastic.

Speaker 6 That one holds up too, actually.

Speaker 3 I watched that. I disagree.
I disagree. That's funny.

Speaker 2 I think you don't.

Speaker 3 Dude, Christmas Story was in like 1975.

Speaker 6 Yeah, but it came out in like the 80s or whatever. It was always.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 It's a classic, Matt.

Speaker 5 You're trying to do that.

Speaker 2 It's a classic, but it's not like.

Speaker 6 Don't judge my stuff. All right.

Speaker 2 That's right. No judgment.
This is judgment.

Speaker 2 Go ahead. Go ahead.
Finish.

Speaker 6 I thought I was in the trust tree, in the nest. We are in the trust tree.

Speaker 6 Christmas story,

Speaker 6 Christmas Vacation.

Speaker 6 I still think that holds up, but I'm old too, I guess. And then

Speaker 6 I like the Family Stone,

Speaker 2 but it isn't really. What a list.

Speaker 2 Okay.

Speaker 6 And then I have a caveat. I have a least favorite Christmas movie that might be controversial, but The Family Stone, if you've never seen it,

Speaker 6 it's kind of odd because this guy brings this girl home and the family is kind of a big mess. And then at some point, Luke Wilson steals the girlfriend.
And then

Speaker 6 the guy who bought the original girl home, like takes, takes the sister of the girl. It gets really, really weird.

Speaker 6 And I remember telling, showing my wife being like, this is one of my favorite Christmas movies. It reminds me of my family.

Speaker 6 And afterwards, she was like, what the fuck's wrong with your family dude it's not good now the one that i hate i think is the absolute trash movie is um

Speaker 6 is uh oh what's the other who's in it uh

Speaker 6 bad santa santa claus no no no it's um

Speaker 2 it's a love it's a love story it's like four the holiday no or oh four four christmases no no no um love actually love actually yeah love actually that movie is trash all right Everyone in that movie is an absolute monster.

Speaker 2 It's true,

Speaker 2 bad decisions everywhere.

Speaker 6 Everyone is such a piece of shit in that movie, and it's like

Speaker 6 you love story. What are you talking about?

Speaker 3 I'm looking at, oh, is that Julie?

Speaker 2 Who's in that movie? I'm in full agreement, and it's also the

Speaker 2 national manipulative thing

Speaker 2 possible. Like the best way, A-list, dude.

Speaker 6 Like his best friend's girl with like signs.

Speaker 6 One guy, Snape from freaking Harry Potter, is cheating on his wife and gives her a crap gift of a Joni Mitchell double disc CD and then gives the mistress the diamond thing.

Speaker 6 The only, the only like redeeming storyline in that is

Speaker 6 the, is the guy who ends up screwing his maid, but he can't even speak Portuguese. The whole thing is trash, dude.

Speaker 2 By the way, it sounds like you've seen the movie like 19 times.

Speaker 2 Of course. You have to watch it.
Rap,

Speaker 3 before we let you go, dude, let's, we want to talk a little bit of sports. And I didn't know this about you.

Speaker 6 I was excited about this is what I really want to talk to you about.

Speaker 2 This is what we're here for. Sorry.

Speaker 3 So I want, I didn't know you went to Ole Miss.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 3 And I found that out when we golfed. And I just got to ask you straight up.
One, I want to hear just your greatest story from Ole Miss because I can only imagine Oxford that you can tell.

Speaker 3 And then Lane Kiffin, because we are in the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes right now.

Speaker 6 And I want to get your thoughts on how you feel about that okay like my frat text chain at old miss is it it's actually it's too much right i'm like guys we've got to stop this is we're like we're tracking private jets down to gain general and yes oh dude and dissecting every little social media thing that lane's doing i'm watching the pat mcfee show can't stand that show had to watch it yesterday because he was on it and we were dissecting that

Speaker 6 Here's my thought. I think that Lane's going to stay.
And maybe I'm, this is wishful thinking, but I think college football has changed a lot. Now, if this was 10 years ago, get the hell out of there.

Speaker 6 I totally get it. LSU, Florida, much better jobs.
But I don't think that's the case anymore, especially with the NIL.

Speaker 6 Ole Miss's fan base won, we have a ton of money that we are not scared to give the program to get to a certain level. And that level is beneath what everyone at Florida and LSU expects.

Speaker 6 If we get 10 wins, this is positive for you. So you have a really cushy gig.
Now, I don't think that there's a better town in the SEC.

Speaker 6 And this is crazy because Mississippi, there are a lot of crap towns in it, but Oxford is one of the coolest places in the world. Our game day experience, I think, is the best in the SEC.

Speaker 6 And I went and traveled around to everyone. And Baton Rouge is pretty fun.
Tuscar is pretty cool.

Speaker 6 Obviously, Texas now, but I don't really consider that.

Speaker 6 But I think that our game day experience is so cool. You get to do that, the Walk of Champions right to the stadium, which is right next door.

Speaker 6 You come back, you party in the grove with chandeliers and flat screen TVs, and they're catered, and everyone's dressed up, and everyone's hot. At least all the chicks are.

Speaker 6 Like, the whole thing is money. When I think of Gainesville, I don't know if I think Gainesville is a better town.
And here's the thing. And I don't know if I think Baton Rouge is a better town.

Speaker 6 Now, New Orleans, I would give you that, but this is a different beast. Now, here's the reason why I don't think Lane should go.
And Lane, if you're listening to me, you should listen to me.

Speaker 6 If you win a national championship at Old Miss, they will put a golden statue of your ass doing Pilates in the grove, dude.

Speaker 6 Like you will be forever the greatest coach, maybe other than Johnny Vaugh, but your name will be on that freaking stadium.

Speaker 6 If you go to Gainesville, I'm sorry, but you're never going to be better than Urban Meyer. I don't know how many, you can win a million freaking national championships.
Urban Meyer will take

Speaker 6 there. And if you go go to LSU, dude, you won't even be the first, second, third, or fourth best coach they've got there.
And here's the thing.

Speaker 6 You could go to LSU and you could lose. You could win a national championship and you could still get fired because that's what happened to Coach O.

Speaker 2 All right.

Speaker 6 I'm telling you,

Speaker 6 it'll miss 10.

Speaker 3 You've been thinking about this a lot this week.

Speaker 2 I love this take. By the way,

Speaker 3 I'm going to put you on a text with Lane. He'll love you.

Speaker 3 He'll love you, dude.

Speaker 6 He's like, send it to him.

Speaker 2 I will.

Speaker 2 You're making a very similar take that I always do with my Knicks, where it's like, a championship here is worth like two anywhere else because it's

Speaker 2 charted territory, right? Yeah, I think I would snatch you of you.

Speaker 3 I would disagree in the sense I think LSU is a bigger, better job.

Speaker 3 I agree with your points, but for him to kind of take the next step.

Speaker 3 Ole Miss is going to the playoff this year. He's already making a fortune.
He can have whatever he wants. He can recruit there.
And in this world, you can get guys like, like, that's the thing:

Speaker 3 it's going to be interesting because

Speaker 3 I'm hearing a lot, just like you, that he might be gone.

Speaker 3 Story from Oxford before we taught golf.

Speaker 6 Okay, I've got a lot of them, dude. Oxford is, if you haven't, if you're a lover of college football and haven't been to Oxford, Mississippi, you need to do it.
Like, make the pilgrimage.

Speaker 6 It is a very, very special place.

Speaker 6 Okay, my favorite story was when I was like pledging in a fraternity, we had to,

Speaker 6 we had to like go to the student section early for games and you had to be wearing like a suit, which sucked, especially like, you know, in when it's really hot there, it's Mississippi really hot.

Speaker 6 So we like wearing like wool suits and we'd have to go early and we have to save seats for actives.

Speaker 6 And

Speaker 6 it sucked because you couldn't at that time, I think you can now, but at that time, you couldn't drink in the stadium.

Speaker 6 So we did all these these crazy things to sneak booze in and so one night before a game we dressed in all black and i had like three handles of um

Speaker 6 of like crap bourbon uh like like duct taped to me and it was two of my my best friends we went down to the stadium and we

Speaker 6 jumped the fence we broke in and we duct taped um

Speaker 6 booze to like the underneath the bleachers where we were going to be sitting and then when we came out, the cops came.

Speaker 6 So we, so I scurried underneath like a dump truck. And then my two buddies, they ran off for like the hills, right? So the cops come to the dump truck.
They're looking all around.

Speaker 6 I get up underneath the truck and I'm holding onto the axle. So I'm like above the ground where they can't see me, but they see me.

Speaker 6 Also, was I drunk? Probably. I was in college.
So they get me down and

Speaker 6 they put me in handcuffs. They put me in the back of the car.
And they're like, dude,

Speaker 6 where are your two other friends? And so I said, well, our rendezvous point was over at that tree.

Speaker 2 Call of Duty.

Speaker 6 Rendezvous point. But they were like, really? Then they went and like, we're searching this tree.
Now that gave my buddies long enough time to get home.

Speaker 6 Now we had a getaway driver, which was my friend Wetlands' girlfriend, Annalie Floyd.

Speaker 2 And so

Speaker 2 it was like bootleggers, bro. I was like the roaring 20.

Speaker 6 She was really cute,

Speaker 6 as every girl at old miss is. And

Speaker 6 so they were at like the huddle house, which is like,

Speaker 6 or like the waffle house, you know, like a crappy diner waiting for us to call.

Speaker 6 And at the time, these cops came in and they were talking about how these kids were trying to sneak booze into the stadium. And so Annalee went up to them and started flirting with them.

Speaker 6 convinced them to let it to let me go and so they called it in in being like hey let this kid go he's cool or whatnot i am released i call my buddies i'm being like where are you they were on the at the square drinking like having a a a ball at the library or whatnot and i was like i've been in a cop car with handcuffs you know, like for the past like hour and a half.

Speaker 6 And Anna Lee got us out of trouble. So yeah, that was my, that was one of my favorite stories of breaking into the stadium and putting boots.

Speaker 3 That's awesome.

Speaker 2 Literally, that sounds like you could have just changed that to like it was me and Al Capone. We were bringing whiskey from Canada, bootlegging it to the east coast.
That's amazing, dude.

Speaker 2 Well, selfishly, something I'm very excited about because I'm a huge golf fan and I love the podcast you and Chad do, Vanity Index. And I saw it got picked up by Golf Channel.

Speaker 2 So it's going to be airing on Golf Channel as well as every other thing you're already airing on, correct?

Speaker 6 Yeah, I think

Speaker 6 January 14th will start, and it's 10 a.m. Eastern, 7 o'clock

Speaker 6 on Pacific time, which is going to be hilarious because like we are members of the, Chad and I are members of the same club.

Speaker 6 And when you go into the grill room, like the bar area, the golf channel is always on. And I know everyone's going to be like,

Speaker 6 assholes. They're all.

Speaker 2 You wield a lot of power, though. You could call some dudes out, you know, slow play.
You could call, you could actually make some moves within your own club.

Speaker 2 Well, the thing I love about it, too, is you, first of all, you have two guests that I don't think have ever done pods. Anyway, Ken Griffey Jr., who we've tried to get on this show, he's very elusive.

Speaker 2 And then my old buddy, who I know for 20 years, Scott Kahn, who has no social media and has never done a podcast probably in his life.

Speaker 2 So when I saw him pop up, I'm like, wow, they managed to get a microphone in front of Scott Kahn. That's impressive.
It just looks like you guys are having fun.

Speaker 2 Like, I know Chad, obviously, he's doing a lot of stuff in the golf world, but you, how long have you been?

Speaker 2 like, when did you, when did golf catch you at what point in your career and in your life?

Speaker 2 And I want you to break down that swing once we get, that's going to be our outro. Break down that St.
Andrews swing.

Speaker 3 By the way, no, he wasn't, he, we were at Tahoe together. Oh, Tahoe.
St. Andrews, by the way, I picked it up.
I played my best round of all time at the old course with Austin.

Speaker 2 It was fantastic. It's wide open.
That's why. It is.
It is wide open.

Speaker 6 You've got all of Scotland to the left, Vladimir.

Speaker 2 I do.

Speaker 6 Yeah, so, well, Scotty Khan is the man. He's the best dress guy at our club, and it's like not close.

Speaker 6 Everything is tailored, and

Speaker 6 he's fantastic. My golf journey really started as a kid.
I grew up in Monterey, like Pebble Beach Carmel area, which is like kind of golf mecca. I grew up on a golf course, like selling golf balls.

Speaker 6 And we'd go out and play. I grew up on a golf course called Old Del Monte, which is the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi.

Speaker 6 And we used to bribe the marshal with the bottles of wine every month so he wouldn't give us shit for like jumping on and playing like a quick nine at Twilight.

Speaker 6 And then I played in high school. I wasn't, I wasn't great.
I don't even know if I

Speaker 6 barely made the varsity team. So I've never been like a great golfer, but I'm like competent.
And then I went to college. I didn't really play in college.

Speaker 6 And then when I was in Nashville doing radio, I was poor, so I didn't play. And then when I moved back to LA, I was like, I can play, you know, 12 months out of the year.

Speaker 6 I'm going to get back into it. And so that's how I kind of like returned to the golf world.
And then I'm buddies with Chad Mum, who has done so much in the golf space. He does full swing on Netflix.

Speaker 6 He was a part of the Gilmore 2. He's got a scripted show that I don't know if we're supposed to talk about, but it's going to be coming out very soon with the big star that everybody knows.

Speaker 6 And so he was like, we should do like a full swing recap show.

Speaker 6 And I was like, yeah, let's do, let's do that. I've got a, I've got a studio studio in my house.
We can just do it from my house.

Speaker 6 And then it kind of turned into we just invited all of our famous friends to come in. Super low stakes, right? Like, I don't want to know about, I'm not, no gotcha questions on our show.

Speaker 6 I just want to talk to you about golf. And yeah, the one thing that like everyone, like every celebrity that plays golf, they just want to talk about golf.
And if that's all it is, it's an easy sell.

Speaker 6 Usually we'll be like, come over, we'll do the show, and then we'll go play.

Speaker 6 Like, you're our guest or whatnot that's kind of how we dangle the carrot for them um so yeah it's been it's been really fun and i'm excited that uh golf channel is picking us up like you know a lot of these streamers and networks are going to this we want your your uh the video portion of your podcast like everyone's just looking for content and us being front end of this i think is very very cool um

Speaker 6 And I'm thankful that Chad has the connections that he does to get us in there. There's a bunch of other podcasts that are probably more qualified, but

Speaker 2 sorry. You're too late.

Speaker 6 In terms of Leinert swing,

Speaker 2 there we go.

Speaker 3 Can I just give full context before we

Speaker 2 also know as disclaimers? He wants to get disclaimers out. Let's hear it.

Speaker 3 This past year, I think I told Wells this. I was like, I'm going to start getting into golf, you know, teaming up with the Travis Matthew guys who are awesome, want to get into it.
My hips feel good.

Speaker 3 By the way, I had a double hip replacement. Sorry that I was an athlete, boys.

Speaker 3 But I golfed maybe twice in the past 12 years, up until this last year. And Tahoe, I believe, was my first or second time golfing this past year in 10 years.

Speaker 3 So to give context, my thing is, if I ever really wanted to try and get good in golf, I think I would get good in golf.

Speaker 2 Okay. Go ahead, Wells.
Now we turn it over to Well, who hosts a golf show on the golf. Wells is like here.
I don't know. No, I did.

Speaker 6 hear it you're obviously an athlete and you're really

Speaker 6 tall so that means you can create so much speed and so much lag and so i imagine the more you play you're just going to be one of those guys that's going to be able to pipe the ball like 350 and

Speaker 6 like you're going to be like the best scramble partner that's ever existed um i think that you're i think that your golf game is

Speaker 6 fantastic but we so we had this one game we have this one guy on our show named yip strickler and he's a guy who

Speaker 6 so he, so basically people will be like, hey, we've got sandbaggers at our club. We need you to investigate.
And then he'll go in there again and like investigate and do this whole thing.

Speaker 2 It's amazing.

Speaker 6 It's a fantastic follow. He

Speaker 6 exposes so many dirtbags. Oh, sure.

Speaker 6 And we had him on and we said, who have you found like in the business world or like professional wise, is the biggest sandbag and and rats out there and he said without a doubt it's professional football quarterback really and i was like i've i have heard uh

Speaker 6 so don't fall into that okay no

Speaker 3 i'm not that bad i i uh but i was telling you i had a blast with you guys man that was tahoe was such an experience um and i'm gonna get into it i want i need to come play with you guys at your club for sure so anytime seriously anytime you want to play but we got to scotland and i don't know if oh you've golfed scotland we talked about that.

Speaker 3 You went out there with Chris Harrison, right?

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 6 That was a crazy story just in general. He hit me up and he was like, hey, can you be in Edinburgh next week? I've got a free round of golf at the old course in a room with the Russics.

Speaker 6 And I was like, I'll see you there.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 6 I bought it that day and that flew over there.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 3 Bucket list stuff, man. It was such a great trip.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Well, dude, I would love to get out there with you too.

Speaker 3 I was asking Jerry if we made a bet, but I was like, dude, we need at least 20.

Speaker 2 We can't play you and chat. I'm like an 11.
No, we it'd be me and Wells versus Matt and chat. And then we drag him into that alt shot universe.
So we expose Matt and all of his flaws. Let's go.

Speaker 2 All right. Joining us now, Annie Agar, as she does each and every week, courtesy of Twisted Tea.
Grab a refreshing Twisted Tea today. We're going to do some Twisted Trivia, as usual.

Speaker 2 Matt's still clinging to his lead.

Speaker 2 Cling?

Speaker 2 Clinging to his lead. I think we're ditching the Hollywood stuff for now.
It got a little wonky, but we're sticking with it. But also, new little wrinkle for everybody out there.

Speaker 2 If you go to our socials at Throwback Show, I'm guessing on Twitter, but check Twitter and Instagram. We're going to give out a Twisted Trivia question.

Speaker 2 And the first to reply with the correct answer is going to get, I guess we'll just call it a care package from Twisted Tea, which is very, something very good to have overall this holiday season.

Speaker 2 I'm going to need it as I continue to watch my giants do some weird stuff. Annie, how are you?

Speaker 4 I'm probably better than you're doing. Sorry about that.

Speaker 2 Sorry about that. Just like, you really have such a great gig with your videos because like you're getting so much material

Speaker 2 thank you you gotta work on tam scataboo going to like monday night raw or whatever that is hilarious you gotta work are you guys wwe fans do you i mean it's it's it's scripted right like that it's scripted yeah i i and i enjoy wwe and i also see nothing wrong with it i know that was a very hot uh topic for a lot of radio hosts locally in new york like they did the giants should never have let that happen what do you mean he went to rest did you see

Speaker 2 boot?

Speaker 4 Yeah, he tweeted. He's like, dude, I can't play football.
I'm miserable. I would want to do something fun, too.
I totally get it.

Speaker 2 You mean you're worried he's going to get hurt working with essentially the greatest stuntmen on the face of the earth that are right now.

Speaker 5 He was also, wasn't he?

Speaker 3 He was front row UFC too, right? Wasn't he?

Speaker 2 A couple weeks ago? Yeah. Dude, the guy's living the dream right now.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 So, Matt, another interesting thing, though, that's popped up a lot. Shador Sanders obviously got some snaps.
He's going to be starting. A lot of people flinging a lot of takes and a lot of,

Speaker 2 you know, you played quarterback in the NFL. What are your thoughts on Shador Sanders getting the rock?

Speaker 3 Well, one, I'm excited for him because I think he's a good player. We covered him in college.

Speaker 3 I love Prime. I'm excited for his opportunity because it's a huge opportunity for him.

Speaker 3 You know, it's just interesting because I feel like

Speaker 3 you're either in the camp of like Shador got screwed and this and that and this and that or you're in the camp of like hey like he kind of got drafted probably maybe where people thought he might go when you actually evaluated him and he's he's a fifth round draft pick on an NFL team trying to make the football team like like like there's just like this torn so then when he goes in last week and there's no first team reps and this and that everyone's up in arms oh you're setting them up to failure and all of these things so from my experience and and i thought i think luke mccown had some great insight on on what a backup does throughout the week and And I would say this, first of all, every organization,

Speaker 3 every coach, every starting quarterback, they're all different, right? I've played with quarterbacks who don't need as many reps because I played with Carson Palmer at the end of his career.

Speaker 3 He'd been playing 14 years. I played with Matt Schaub in Houston, who got 97% of the reps throughout the week just because...
Kubiak wanted his starter fully, like whatever.

Speaker 3 Arizona, obviously, I did start a couple of years there, and then I backed up Curtin. I got a couple reps.
So like, I would say on average, in my experience, I probably got

Speaker 3 from a

Speaker 3 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday practice, I probably got three to four,

Speaker 3 maybe five first team reps with the first, with the ones, maybe.

Speaker 3 And half of those are probably a run play handing it off, or you go in and whatever. So, so, so that, and that's not even an exaggeration.
So, Let's put that aside.

Speaker 3 And then, um, and now, if a quarterback's nursing something, he's like, I'm not going to practice today, like Carson did a couple, then I would take everything. I was a starter for that day.

Speaker 3 The reps that you get that are valuable are scout team reps. Now, you're not necessarily running your plays, you're running the other team's plays, but a lot of these concepts are all the same.

Speaker 3 So, you're you're always mentally visualizing, you're always processing the way you would process in a game.

Speaker 3 Now, something I know a lot of quarterbacks do, and I did this, is I would, I would, especially in Oakland, I remember, I would meet with our equipment guys like Monday, Tuesday, sometimes after practice, and i would go through the script that we just went and i would go through every on air but i would go through remember you know the video of russell wilson before the game where he's going all that and everyone making fun of him but that that's legit like backup quarterbacks are mentally taking reps and visualizing hey if this isn't here this play one versus two three check down moving to the next play so you're going through the script right you're going through the plays That is not the same as when the bullets are flying on a Sunday, but that's how you mentally get prepared for a game.

Speaker 3 That's all the reps you get.

Speaker 3 When a starter goes down in a game, the the backup quarterback is the greatest job in the world you make a shit ton of money sometimes you never play but then when you do get in the way you're you're expected to play at the same level or somewhat close to the starter no matter who that is so for the people who are like complaining he's set up to fail and this and that like you got to remember dylan gabriel is also a rookie dylan gabriel probably needs every rep he can get so

Speaker 3 I just think it's funny when people make this bigger than it is. I hope Shador balls this week.
I hope he freaking kicks ass. He's going to get all the reps.
He will be prepared. He's a smart kid.

Speaker 3 But like, for all the people who say, like, oh, reps, like, that's, it's a real thing. You, you get very third string gets no reps, right? Second string depends on the organization.

Speaker 3 And clearly, Stefanski was given all the first team reps to Dylan Gabriel because he's a starter. So you can put that to bed.
It's, it's, it's a

Speaker 3 ridiculous argument. Now, maybe he needs to get out of Cleveland.
Maybe they don't like all those things. I get that.
So I agree.

Speaker 2 That's what I was going to say. Maybe it's

Speaker 2 a motivation. By the way, I would want him to get out of there too.

Speaker 2 Yeah. But,

Speaker 3 but yeah, I mean, look, I hope he balls, man. I hope he balls.

Speaker 4 Hey, he had a rough week because then his house got broken into too. Did you see that?

Speaker 2 Yeah, that's crazy.

Speaker 3 A couple hundred grand or something.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 3 I think he's handled it well, you know, like he's he's, you know, he had some of his moments early on in the media. I think he's handled it well.

Speaker 3 And look, I bet those guys in that locker room are pulling for him. I bet they're root for him, and I hope, I hope he plays well.

Speaker 2 Here's my little ray of sunshine on on this, like, oh, he's set up to

Speaker 2 the one good thing about being in Cleveland and being drafted by the Browns right after Dylan Gabriel with Joe Flacco there and Deshaun Watson. You know, at some point, you're going to get the ball.

Speaker 2 I just knew it. If you thought for one second going into this year, you were not going to see Shadora Sanders, even if it was week 17, he was going to get.

Speaker 2 first team reps and start at some point, unless Dylan Gabriel did something remarkable, which I don't think anyone The funny thing is, is going to be if, who do the Browns play this week? The Raiders.

Speaker 2 The Raiders.

Speaker 2 Passed on them like four times as well. Exactly.

Speaker 3 If Shador plays well and they win, and Dylan Gabriel is available next week,

Speaker 3 that's going to be

Speaker 3 the,

Speaker 3 if Shador doesn't start and they go back to Dylan Gabriel, then Ballhill is going to break loose.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 3 And I'm not necessarily think that's fair or not. I'm just saying if they win and he plays well, because it is the Raiders,

Speaker 3 that's going to be, it'll be interesting to see what Stefanski does with that. So, yeah.

Speaker 2 So, Annie, before we start with trivia, you know, I was really taken by your video where we all got to spend the day with you and you put up your Christmas tree.

Speaker 2 And I really got the feeling of how into the holidays you are. And the holidays are upon us.
So, we have two slates, right, coming up.

Speaker 2 We have the Thanksgiving slate, and then we got Christmas Day, which I think is slowly but surely supplanted Thanksgiving as maybe a better sports day.

Speaker 2 But then when I looked at the lineups and Matt, weigh in here, too. It's kind of

Speaker 2 interesting what they went. Obviously, we get the Detroit-Dallas games, right? So Thanksgiving, we got Green, you got your Packers at the Lions, as expected.
You got KC at Dallas, fun game.

Speaker 2 And then you got Bengals at Ravens, which will be what it will be. They thought it was going to be a better game when they made the schedule.
But then when you look at Christmas Day,

Speaker 2 Dallas again at Washington, Lions again at Vikings, and then Broncos again at Chiefs. Why do those three teams get both games?

Speaker 2 I thought that was insane that you put the same three teams from Thanksgiving on Christmas Day.

Speaker 4 It's got to be, because I mean, I know that that's like a while the sports talk shows, they start out with the Cowboys because it generates so much fun worship.

Speaker 4 And that's what everybody wants to see right on primetime and all that stuff. But no, but like the Cowboys have had, it's felt like a couple of primetime games back to back already this year.

Speaker 4 It just is like a lot of shoving it down our throats. And I don't want to watch the Chiefs, the five and five Chiefs on primetime again.

Speaker 2 Well, I just think that also when you look deeper on the Sunday slate, you got the Eagles at the Bills.

Speaker 2 How is that game at least not supplanting

Speaker 2 Lions Vikings, which is probably a fun game.

Speaker 4 The only thing I think of is people, like Christmas Day, obviously, not as big of a football day as Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4 And everybody talks about how NBA, like we're trying to take over viewership of the NBA on Christmas Day. Up until recently, like, I don't even remember a Black Friday game, I don't think.

Speaker 4 I mean, it's just all, it's just changed a lot, the whole Christmas game. So maybe they're thinking they don't need to be.

Speaker 3 I think it was a major success last year, right?

Speaker 2 Netflix. Yeah,

Speaker 3 the ratings were huge. The viewing was great.

Speaker 4 All my family does is sit around and drink mimosas on Christmas Day. Yeah.
If I can watch them football during it.

Speaker 3 Kids get all their toys, so they're distracted.

Speaker 2 We get to lay on the

Speaker 2 face.

Speaker 3 I fly on Thanksgiving, so I have a different, I never have, I haven't had a Thanksgiving in.

Speaker 4 Oh, yeah, because Ohio State, Michigan.

Speaker 2 Kind of a big weekend for college football.

Speaker 3 It's a huge, it's a huge weekend.

Speaker 2 You also mentioned the word drinking, and you are here, courtesy of Twisted Tea, and we're going to do some trivia.

Speaker 2 Anything new for anything we should know going into this?

Speaker 4 This week we're going to do, we're not doing movies.

Speaker 2 Okay.

Speaker 4 We're going to leave that one in the past. We're going to do for the picture segment, pictures of guys from a former team.

Speaker 4 And you guys have to guess maybe the guy and the current team is like the biggest part. If you can't guess the guy, I'll give the name and then who they play for currently.

Speaker 2 So we have to guess the name and who they play for currently.

Speaker 4 It's like well-known people. So

Speaker 4 if we can't recognize them right away, I'll give you the name and then who do you play?

Speaker 3 If you get one half of the question, does that count as a point?

Speaker 2 Sure. Yeah, we'll do that.
Oh, so that's the one that's going to be the

Speaker 2 guy. The point is that.
Matt is eight and three in trivia games and Matt has 29 total questions, right? I have 19 questions, right? I did win two to nothing last week, and I'm on the come up.

Speaker 2 I got them right where I wanted.

Speaker 2 Do you want to like, hey, I got all the first team reps. I got all the first team reps.

Speaker 3 Load management. I'm just going to take a couple weeks off, buddy.

Speaker 2 I got all the first team reps this week. I'm ready to go.
I feel prepared.

Speaker 4 First team reps. All right, gentlemen.
First question. Are we ready?

Speaker 2 Yes.

Speaker 4 Two quarterbacks are tied for most rushing touchdowns in NFL history with 75. Name one of them.

Speaker 3 Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 4 No, shockingly.

Speaker 2 Damn it. That was a great guess.

Speaker 2 Josh Allen?

Speaker 4 Josh Allen is one.

Speaker 2 Let's go. Yeah.

Speaker 4 Do you guys know the other one?

Speaker 2 I mean, the other

Speaker 2 bonus for the other ones? Bonus. The other ones are kind of what? Difficult? No.
Pretty obvious. Steve Young.
No.

Speaker 4 A little bit more current.

Speaker 2 Michael Vick? Not current.

Speaker 3 I was going to say Vic.

Speaker 2 Nope. More current than that.

Speaker 4 About the same time.

Speaker 2 A little more current. A little bit more current.

Speaker 3 It's not Cam Newton.

Speaker 4 It is Cam Newton.

Speaker 2 Cam Newton. Yeah.
He had 71. Cam Newton.
Cam Newton is right.

Speaker 3 1-0 for the kid. 1-0.
Is that 1-0?

Speaker 2 Because I got one name right, too. No, no, no, no, no, no, it's not.
That was bonused. Yeah, that was for fun.

Speaker 4 Okay, who has the record for most pass completions in one game in NFL history?

Speaker 2 Jacoby Brissett. Jacoby Brissette.
I mean, I last weekend.

Speaker 4 That was crazy, by the way.

Speaker 2 I don't know how that was going to be. My Disney internet slowed me down out there.

Speaker 4 It was 47, 47 packs.

Speaker 2 And a blowout law, too. Like, how are you not?

Speaker 3 Dude, one time in the fun fact, I was playing actually Green Bay preseason, game number four to whatever. I played most of the game and I threw the ball 47 times in the second half.

Speaker 2 In preseason? 400 yards. Yeah, we were down,

Speaker 3 we were down. It was awesome.

Speaker 3 We were down, I don't even know, like 28 to 3, 30 to 3. And we came back and we lost.
We went for a two-point conversion to win with no time left.

Speaker 3 I threw like three touchdowns, 400 in the second half.

Speaker 3 I was like 38, 30, I don't know, 37 for 47 in the second half, bro.

Speaker 5 It was crazy.

Speaker 2 I'm going to re-watch that one on YouTube on the flight home, man. I'll send you a link.

Speaker 2 Send me the link. That's awesome.
I think you can find it.

Speaker 3 I forget what year. It was like 2000.

Speaker 2 That could have been a trivia question that Matt would have no problems with and would be completely fair.

Speaker 2 That's amazing. All right.
Okay.

Speaker 4 Last question. Who is the current leader for passing yards this season?

Speaker 2 Drake Jones.

Speaker 4 Drake May.

Speaker 2 Yep. Damn.
Boom.

Speaker 4 Yep. Damn it.

Speaker 2 It was Daniel Jones like two weeks ago, I feel like. And then he had two

Speaker 2 games.

Speaker 2 This will be fun.

Speaker 4 This will be fun. These are the pictures.
So, first of all, see if you can, first picture, see if you can figure out who it is and what is their current team.

Speaker 4 Because they'll be in the jersey of their first team.

Speaker 2 Picture of Houston, Texas.

Speaker 2 Wow. That was wrecked.
That was annihilation on

Speaker 2 Disney. It was not annihilation.
I mean, on Disney Wi-Fi.

Speaker 4 Jerry's on a whole other level here in

Speaker 4 Disney World. Maybe that's that's what you need.
You just need to be in Disney all the time.

Speaker 2 So I get one for that. Yes, that's yes.
That's as excited as I've seen you get in a long time. I know.

Speaker 2 You're not wrong. You're not wrong.

Speaker 4 Okay, next one. Ready?

Speaker 4 Go.

Speaker 2 Kylo Lockett.

Speaker 3 I beat you on that. No, you

Speaker 2 did.

Speaker 2 In my ear, I swear to you, I just recorded those who they played. You're ridiculous, bro.
You're ridiculous.

Speaker 3 Oh,

Speaker 3 I already won, so it really doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 You got to get the team. No, you got to get to the bottom.

Speaker 3 We just settled that you don't have to get the team.

Speaker 2 We just said that. Okay.

Speaker 3 I want to say Baltimore.

Speaker 2 No.

Speaker 2 Raiders.

Speaker 4 Yeah. Raiders.
Wow. That took me a second, too.
I forgot.

Speaker 2 Good for you on a question. In my ear, I swear I said Tyler Loud.

Speaker 3 Terry, you say that every time.

Speaker 4 We need like an instant replay to see whose mouth moved first.

Speaker 2 All right, Matt extends to his lead. Long season.
I will be drinking Twisted Tea Live on the air next week for this. I need something to

Speaker 2 boost my.

Speaker 3 You just need something to loosen you up a little bit. I think you're just, you're too, you're too uptight.

Speaker 4 I will say this is probably the quickest response time, though. You guys were.

Speaker 2 We were on it today. We performed a little better after last week.

Speaker 3 Well, it's better when we say, like, oh, who was number one in the box office in 2022?

Speaker 2 Like, come on, you know. We got it.
Come on. Any,

Speaker 2 thank you very much. Looking forward to your video.
Try to work in Cam Scataboo and Wrestling if you can. Oh, 100%.

Speaker 4 100%. As a personal favorite.
My ant kept his hat on the whole time, too. It was very impressive.

Speaker 2 Very impressive, Cam. It was very impressive.
All right. We'll see you later, Annie.
And thank you, everybody out there, for listening.

Speaker 2 We will be back with an episode before Thanksgiving, so we're not quite going to say happy holidays yet. Till then.
