Speaker 3 Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for joining us for another episode of Nightcap.

Speaker 3 What an exciting ball game as the Clippers go into Denver and they win 105-102 thanks to Kawhi Leonard's virtuoso, 15 of 19 from the floor, 4-7 from 3, perfect from the free throw line, 39 big points.

Speaker 3 And he was the best. He was as good as I've ever seen him in the playoffs.
Y'all know me. I'm your favorite Unc.

Speaker 3 My co-host is your favorite number 85, the Liberty City City legend, the bingo ring of fame honoree, the Pro Bowler, the all-pro. That's Chad Ocho Sinko Johnson.

Speaker 3 Also, our contributor for all things basketball in the playoffs is, y'all know him, the Arkansas Native.

Speaker 3 Phoenix, you know him a little bit from Phoenix, but you really know him as a Hulk and a Net. Here he is, Iso Joe, Joe Johnson.

Speaker 3 Guys, let's get right into this ball game. Got a lot to talk about tonight.
The Clippers win 105 to 102.

Speaker 3 As I said, thanks to Kawhi Leonard and a big, big three from Norman Powell, who struggled all night long with his shot, but he found it when he needed to find it.

Speaker 3 Yes, Jokic had a triple-double, but he did not play well. Seven turnovers, four missed free throws.

Speaker 3 And I think that was a difference in the ball game, Joe, that all those free throws, they make one, miss one, make one, miss one. It came back to bite them.

Speaker 3 What did you like about what you saw from the Clippers? After a tough loss on Saturday, they come back and get a tough win on Monday. Well, you knew Team Blue was going going to have those guys ready.

Speaker 3 They was going to regroup. I didn't think they played bad

Speaker 3 game one. I thought they're right.

Speaker 3 You know, probably down to the end. But, man, they can say what they want to say about Kawhi Ocho.

Speaker 3 That boy out there doing the playoffs, he making happen, man.

Speaker 3 He does. Hey, the mid-range assassin,

Speaker 3 analytics trying to take the midi out of the game. Hey, man, that man gets to his spot every time raising up, shooting, and it's cash.
He look good tonight. Uh,

Speaker 3 for me,

Speaker 3 I like how his body looks. He don't look like he's out of shape, he looks like a guy who's in elite shape, and he's ready to go.
Uh, he gave them everything they was looking for tonight, man.

Speaker 3 You didn't, you didn't need James to be special tonight, he was solid throughout the whole game. Uh, I like Zubach competing against uh uh big yoke yoke, that's a matchup, man.

Speaker 3 That's a great matchup, but all in all, the Clippers did what they wanted. Hey, they came down there to get one, got one, and they was able to do that in game two, man.
They look good.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 3 When you look at Kawhi, I think the thing is, is that Zubatz makes Jokic works on the other end. He had another double, double, 16 and 12.
You can live with that. As you said, James Harden

Speaker 3 didn't need to be spectacular tonight, but it was quiet. And I thought it was very interesting, Joe.

Speaker 3 Kawhi had it going, but Ty Lou gave him a six-minute break in the third quarter, knowing this game's going to be close. I need him to close it out.
I need him for the entirety.

Speaker 3 I'm not bringing him off the court. And you saw him at the end of the game slumped over.
He was dog tired because he played 39 minutes. And they needed all 39 minutes from him.
But I thought T.

Speaker 3 Lou stole some time. And when the Nuggets couldn't get any separation with Kawhi off the floor, you knew, okay, this game's going to come down to the end.
Michael Porter Jr. played extremely well.

Speaker 3 He had six offensive rebounds. They needed a call to action, and he answered that call.

Speaker 3 But that turnover after he got that rebound where he threw it away and led to a Norman power three that was really the difference in the ball game ocho what'd you like about what you saw tonight listen Tylu had them boys ready to play on he had him ready to play kawhi I'm not sure what Kawhi I'm not sure what Kawhi did what his routine was before this game I'm not sure what he ate what he ate I don't know how he stretched but

Speaker 3 whatever he did before this game today he need to repeat it every game from this point on the Kawhi I saw tonight onk he was special we've talked about his injuries we talked about him not playing games and missing games but I don't know who that was tonight we've seen it before, but I've never seen it to this magnitude.

Speaker 3 I've never seen him this efficient like this tonight. Obviously, you had Norman Powell who contributed coming off the bench.

Speaker 3 James Harden did what James Harden does. Obviously, he didn't need to be special like you guys mentioned earlier.

Speaker 3 I think one of the main factors and why the Clippers were able to win this game is I think about not what the Clippers did, but what the Nuggets did and turning the ball over 20 damn times as opposed to the Clippers only turning it over 11.

Speaker 3 Obviously, Joker having a triple-double, but he didn't play well. He missed some shots late in the game down the stretch from the free-through line, which also contributed to them losing tonight.

Speaker 3 But the Clippers did well. Ty Lou did what he needed to do from a coaching standpoint and making sure they were prepared to come out and get in and steal a win.

Speaker 3 Because when you look at it, Joe, as Ocho mentioned, 20 turnovers. It was just the opposite.
What did the Clippers do that cost them a game? Turn the ball over on Saturday.

Speaker 3 Now, the Nuggets repaid the favor. Cadillac in the championship game, we saw Houston force Duke to turn it over.
And then what did they do?

Speaker 3 They turn around against Florida in the national championship game. They turn it over.

Speaker 3 The Nuggets crushed them. Plus 18 in rebound margin.
Plus eight offensive rebound margin. But when you plus nine in the turnover and you plus and you minus six, you shot 10 more free throws,

Speaker 3 but you missed eight of them. Yeah.
Yeah, they struggle. You turn over, miss free throws.
There's your ball game right there. Joe, how do you the Nuggets? What if you're Dave Adelman?

Speaker 3 What are you telling your team?

Speaker 3 Man, we got to continue to fight.

Speaker 3 We got to go to LA and try to get us one. You know, we got to dig down deep and find something within us, man.
They got guys. I don't think they guys played terrible or not.

Speaker 3 I thought they played pretty good.

Speaker 3 Considering the big guns, the Joker, Gordon, Porter.

Speaker 3 You know, I thought they played solid and uh i thought murray played good enough for them to win honestly uh yeah just gotta they gotta uh keep working you know get back to the drawing board and look forward to game three but what i will say is when you look at the clippers i think when they get home they'll be a lot better than them other guys around them

Speaker 3 uh will play a lot better as well role players normally play better better at home normally play better at home so uh

Speaker 3 this is gonna be a long series for the nuggets man they are they already lost home court advantage you gotta steal one, dude. So now it's on, it's on LA to take care of her own corner.

Speaker 3 Go ahead, Ocho.

Speaker 3 I would get ready to say, obviously, you know, in games like this, obviously playoffs atmospheres are completely different.

Speaker 3 You know much more about playoff experience than I do, but I know that feeling and what it's like to be there because on video games, sometimes, you know, everything gets tight and it gets very difficult when it comes to being in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 So I think about... When it comes to this time, not only for the Nuggets, but for the Clippers as well, you got to minimize mistakes.
You got to minimize errors. And you got to be efficient.

Speaker 3 And you got to be consistent the best way you can. People coming off the bench, the role players, they have to be on point.

Speaker 3 They got to be fine on all cylinders for each team to have a chance to win and advance to the next round. And that's really it.

Speaker 3 I ain't really got no business talking about anything, playoffs, being that I ain't really been in them as opposed to you two, but

Speaker 3 I know what it feels like because I just explained why. You didn't play a lot of glory

Speaker 3 in your career, Ocho.

Speaker 3 Hey, man, don't worry about it.

Speaker 3 Oh, Joe, come on, don't act like.

Speaker 3 Don't get me like that.

Speaker 3 That's true. Hey, see,

Speaker 3 that's why I led with, I don't know what it's like to be in the playoffs, but I've done it on video games. And even I get nervous

Speaker 3 and I get tight, you know? So that's the only experience I got when it comes to playoffs. You and Uncle done Benny.
Y'all done that. Aaron Gore missed a wide open dog.

Speaker 3 He hit the back of the rim, huh? Oh, Joe, you can't miss that. Yeah, you need to.
You can't miss that, bro.

Speaker 3 Hey, I got a question. Hey, hey, Joe, I got a question.
For something like that that happens when you miss a dunk, obviously, you think it's going in.

Speaker 3 Hey, do you think it's the same as a ball hitting you right in the hands? Do you drop it because you take your eyes off the ball? You think you did you take his eye off the rim?

Speaker 3 He tried to dunk it so hard and it hit the back of the rim. Yeah.
Okay, okay, okay, okay. So it had nothing to do with

Speaker 3 and I know. Okay, okay, okay, okay.
I just, because you, you see, you see what he did. I mean, mean, he's going to, he was going to mock.
I thought he was two-handed, Joe. Yeah.

Speaker 3 Because that's normally how he dumps the ball, especially in close like that. He normally makes sure he finishes.
But I was surprised that he went up with one hand.

Speaker 3 And you can see things like that happening. Mrs.
A dump. Michael Porter Jr.
gets the defensive rebound and throws it away, which leads.

Speaker 3 into a walk-in three by Norman Powell because Christian Brown was caught in between. Do I go over here or do I stay? He, you know, Powell fakes it and then he pulls up.
Boom.

Speaker 3 In situations like that, that's normally what happens. You pay an ultimate price with turnovers.
You turn the ball over in football. You pay double in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 You turn it on the basketball, the same thing. You commit an error in baseball in the playoffs.
It normally

Speaker 3 you extend the ending.

Speaker 3 You extend it. You extend things.
So

Speaker 3 that's a tough way to lose for the Nuggets, but you got to give the Clippers credit.

Speaker 3 After a very difficult loss on Saturday to come in and play as well as they did tonight and to steal home court, now somehow the nuggets gonna have to find a way to steal home court back because i don't believe if if if uh

Speaker 3 if clippers win you know the clippers win them two games i don't see how they i don't see how they win you know three in a row i don't i don't see that you see that joke you don't see that you don't think the clippers can win three in a row no i don't This is a different team than the bubble.

Speaker 3 Yes, I know they did in the bubble, but this is a different team.

Speaker 3 They didn't have a James Harden.

Speaker 3 kawhi

Speaker 3 has some quiet kawhi had some quiet times in the fourth quarter with some sixes and some twos and that the that guy that i see now he ain't gonna have no games like that yeah yeah uh i look man listen i like i like what i've seen from the clippers scrappy got a bunch of life-size guys

Speaker 3 played multiple positions and caused a lot of havoc and penetrating kick it out for three and just scrambling. You know, it's just back.
It's backyard basketball, man.

Speaker 3 It's playoff basketball as its finest. Look, the Clippers know what Denver is going to run.
Denver know what the Clippers going to run. Y'all can't show us nothing new under the sun.

Speaker 3 We know what y'all now. It's your will versus my will.
And that's what's so special about the playoffs, man. It's like, who wants it the most? And right now, man, the Clippers got a hold of it.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 Hey, young. Yeah.

Speaker 3 Hey, did you just say you don't think Kawhi can have another game like this?

Speaker 3 No, I've said I don't think if the Nuggets go down 3-1, I don't think they can come back like they did in the bubble because I don't believe Kawhi will play as poorly as he did in the second, in the fourth quarter in the bubble.

Speaker 3 He's playing extremely well right now. As Joe said earlier, he's locked in.
Now, you let him get that mid-range going early.

Speaker 3 Now you're at his mercy because if he backs out past that three-point line and he sees a couple of those go in, what you do, you hug up on him, he can go by you.

Speaker 3 Or you think he's going to go by you and then he stops on the dine and he just raises up over you. He had it going tonight because he made some very difficult shots over two defenders.

Speaker 3 Give him his duke, give him his credit. He played well tonight.
He was one of the main reasons why they won. Zubats is doing what Zubats does.
Zude, just give us 16 and 12. Give us your average.

Speaker 3 Make it work on the offense, on the defensive end. I was surprised.
I don't think Jokic was aggressive enough. You got Ben Simmons on you, and you out there bulljoving around the three-point line.

Speaker 3 Nah, that ain't what you need to be, bro. Take his ass down to the paint.
Get that ball. Hey,

Speaker 3 go to the pick and roll or Murray. They may come, hey, clear out the side.
Go, hey, get get away and let me go to work on Ben Simmons.

Speaker 3 Ain't no way you supposed to be out of the top of the key with Ben Simmons on you if you're Nicola Jokic or Joe.

Speaker 3 They had Jokic huffing and puffing out there, man. They doing they work early.
They catching him at the three-point line, body banging him all the way to the paint.

Speaker 3 So by the time he gets to the paint, he'll look tired and exhausted. Tired.

Speaker 3 It's hard for him to kind of get into his, get into his mojo like he normally would because it's a different setting. We're in the playoffs now.
Nothing's easy.

Speaker 3 They're not just going to let him walk down to that post and think he just going to turn around and shoot jump hooks all night. Now, we ain't going for that.
You got to work today, big fella. Yeah.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 3 They doing a great job.

Speaker 3 They take it. They let Murray handle the ball.
They let Brown handle the ball. Russ handle the ball some stuff.
But he's not handling the ball. But you could tell, you know, they're wearing on him.

Speaker 3 Zubats is banging on him. But like I said, you get a reprieve.
Once they take Zubes out of the game, big Zubes,

Speaker 3 you got to wear Ben Simmons light ass out.

Speaker 3 Because I understand he's 16 but he ain't he ain't a big body like zubats yeah now he's not he's not a big body like zubats but look yokish played a great game he still had a nice beastie triple double uh yeah them seven turnovers though hurt him though seven turnovers hurt him but he was four for eight from the three i like that it's like whenever he wants to shoot the three balls like he's very efficient when he shoots it but he was he was pretty good man he just need other guys to step up maybe uh

Speaker 3 i would probably say gordon the porter they got to play a little bigger than what they playing right now, especially points-wise, because they smell.

Speaker 3 Yeah, Porter played good. He just had three turnovers.
Gordon has got to be a little bit more aggressive, a little bit more efficient.

Speaker 3 He was five of 13, one of three, but he was three or three from the three-point line, throw up, excuse me, from the free throw line.

Speaker 3 But I think this was more had to do with what the Clippers did do, as opposed to what the Nuggets didn't do.

Speaker 3 I think we need to chip our hats off, especially to Kawhi Leonard, because he was sensational tonight along with

Speaker 3 Zubats. But Norman Powell hit the shot heard around the world.

Speaker 3 The Pistons snapped their 15-game playoff losing streak. It was the longest such streak in NFL and NFL, NBA history.
It's their first playoff win since 2008.

Speaker 3 Cade Cunningham, we said that he needed to bounce back and play better. He absolutely bounced back and he played sensational.
32 points, 33 points, 12 rebounds.

Speaker 3 He's the first pissed since Chauncey Billets in 2004 with a 30-10 playoff game. 30 points, 10 rebounds.
Cade Cunningham had 33 points, 12 rebounds. He was the difference tonight.

Speaker 3 And Dennis Schroeder, the one thing about Schroeder,

Speaker 3 hey, he's been in the moments. The moments.
He is not afraid of the moments. He's not afraid to take the big shots.
I've seen him take so many big shots when he was playing for the Lakers.

Speaker 3 They trust him.

Speaker 3 And I don't see any reason why they shouldn't trust him. Tobias Harris was great.
Again, he played 43 minutes, had 15 points, 13 big rebounds.

Speaker 3 K,

Speaker 3 33 and 12, but it was Schroeder off the bench that gave you 20 big points was the difference in the ball game.

Speaker 3 And they were able to overcome a sensational game by Jalen Brunson, who had 37 points, but they didn't get nearly enough from Carl Anthony Towns. He only had 10 points on five of the level shooting.

Speaker 3 Foul trouble was the big reason why. But Mikael Bridges had 19.
OG had 10. Cat had 10.

Speaker 3 Josh Hart had 10. But it wasn't enough.
Jalen Brunson had 37, but it was the 33 points from Kay Cunningham,

Speaker 3 12 points, 13 rebounds from Durham, and 15 points from and 13 rebounds from Tobias Harris. And they beat the Knicks on the glass 48 to 34.
I was surprised at how they dominated the glass.

Speaker 3 You know, considering you got Cat, considering you got Mitchell Robinson, considering you got OG Alanobi, and they dominated the glass.

Speaker 3 And I think that was one of the reasons why they won the ball game, even though they had more turnovers. But they've taken the ball to the plank.

Speaker 3 34 free throw tails, Joe, 34 34 to 19.

Speaker 3 I think Rashi Rice just goes off this week. The Chiefs come on a flip pass to Rice near side.
Touchdown.

Speaker 20 Ramondre Stevens is my sleeper this week. This is a matchup where I think I can slide in Stevens into my flex position and he could deliver double-digit points this week.

Speaker 21 Drake takes the snap. Hands it up.
Ramondre running it right and running into the end zone. Touchdown.

Speaker 3 Tonight, he had 37, but nobody else, nobody else for the next contributed or didn't contribute enough to kind of to balance and madden the encounter what the pisses were able to do if cade had the cade had what 33 i don't think he had 33 and 12 11 21 from shooting you know he had 12 rebounds but then you also have shooter contributing then you had to bias harris contributed contributing as well then you look at the knicks you got 37 from jalen brunson Carl Anthony Towns, I mean, he doesn't show up like the Carl Anthony Towns that we're used to seeing.

Speaker 3 Josh Hart, there was nobody else. So it was just, it was a one-man one-man show at the poll three

Speaker 3 on the other end.

Speaker 3 Therefore, that's why the results were what they were and why they were able to bounce back. That goddamn K Hunter Kay Cunningham, boy, he's special, boy.
He is. Boy, he's special.

Speaker 3 Well, he's something nice. Now, you remind me of myself in Ask.

Speaker 3 Just a word. All right.
All right.

Speaker 3 Go ahead. No, Josh.

Speaker 3 Go ahead. My bad.

Speaker 3 Hey, Joe, don't do that. Don't do that.
No, because before it was ISO Joe, you know what they call me in Ask? What they call you.

Speaker 3 What they call you on school, bro? Iso, oh Joe.

Speaker 3 I actually,

Speaker 3 I wasn't Ocho yet. I was ISO Pepe back.
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.

Speaker 3 I'm gonna get, we're gonna get back to this game, but I did some digging, and I found some footage on you and that T-Mac game. You and T-Mac.

Speaker 3 You and T-Mac play. I seen that footage of you and T-Mac.

Speaker 3 Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 Garbage. That was garbage, Ocho.
Garbage. Wait a minute.
Hold on. Time on.
Time, Ocho. You look like you people can chew bubblegum, man.

Speaker 3 I said, man, what are you trying out hit doing, you can't make the layup, none of that.

Speaker 3 Oh, hold on. Time out.
This is after I had already dropped 20. I already dropped 20 on T-Mac head.
That's why he pushed me out of bounds. I had him frustrated.

Speaker 3 I told you, NBA players only know how to play in a structured environment.

Speaker 3 You know, running plays and all that.

Speaker 3 When it comes to getting it off the muscle, and you got somebody that's athletic and skilled with lateral movement and quickness like me, you don't know what to do.

Speaker 3 That's why I say you can't beat me, bro.

Speaker 3 What you talk about? I don't care about, I don't care about nobody calling you ISO, nothing. Because ain't gonna be nothing with one-on-one.
It's just me and you. Right.

Speaker 3 You, you, you ain't built like this. You ain't built like this.

Speaker 3 Say it with your chest. Got it.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 3 You got my voice cracking. That's how you know I'm serious, man.
I'm a competitor, man. I don't care what it is.
I'm sick, boy. I'm telling you, hey,

Speaker 3 when I face you up like this, and I hit you with that jab, left, right, and then I come back and I hesitate.

Speaker 3 I ain't going. I ain't going.

Speaker 3 I ain't

Speaker 3 Man, stop playing, man.

Speaker 3 Hey, but let's hey, let's get back to the playoffs.

Speaker 3 I apologize. I ain't mean to get off.
Like, he kind of triggered me real quick. Like, hey, like, I'm not him.
You feel me?

Speaker 3 Stop playing, boy. Hey, I'm from, I'm, boy, I'm from Liberty City, boy.
We do everything. You hear me? It don't matter.
Swimming, swimming, track, basketball, football,

Speaker 3 it don't matter. Ping pong, shooting pool.

Speaker 3 Yeah, yeah, whatever. We, it's who and whatever against whoever, man.

Speaker 3 I apologize,

Speaker 3 look, look, let's get back to the playoffs. All right, back to the playoffs.
I want to give y'all my assessment on this.

Speaker 3 For some reason, Carl Anthony Towns, he looked he looked a little slow at the breaks, man. Like, he don't got no energy.
It's like, you know, he ain't giving them what they need.

Speaker 3 You know, they bench ain't gonna give them nothing because

Speaker 3 Tibodo ain't gonna play them enough.

Speaker 3 Nope. You need cat.
Cat gotta have, he gotta be anywhere from about 20, 25 a night, man. Uh, 11 shot attempts, that ain't gonna get it for the Knicks to be no fans.

Speaker 3 Not playing against these dogs in

Speaker 3 Detroit. Uncle, I told you, you on OJO.
You said,

Speaker 3 who I like in the playoffs this year? And I told you, okay, Cunningham. He got it.
He the total package. He showed that right.
He's very poised and patient on offense, creating for himself.

Speaker 3 He didn't have a lot of assist tonight. They made him score.
He scored the ball.

Speaker 3 He had 12 rebounds. He was huge for them.
They had that. Look, Look, they would have won game one as well as game two, but they had that low in game one, that 21 overrun the Knicks made.
Yep.

Speaker 3 Cost the Pistons game. Now they had another low tonight

Speaker 3 about four, four and a half minutes where they couldn't score. And then they end up, you know, end up closing out the game.
But Detroit, for real, they letting y'all know they for real.

Speaker 3 Now, what I don't expect, I don't expect Tim Hardaway to go 0 for 8. no more.
I think he's going to play great at home and beat. They're going to shoot the ball well.

Speaker 3 And they're going gonna be the others who's gonna help them you know probably advance in this in this series especially at home anyway well i don't i don't get tills uh campaign gave you 14 big points he gave you 11 in the fourth and nine in that nine or run and you play in four minutes

Speaker 3 what's that about

Speaker 3 it it needs to be reversed mikael bridges need 11 shots cat needs 18.

Speaker 3 well that's on cat cat needs to demand the ball and become more aggressive once he gets the ball but you know cat has that propensity to sometimes drift through the game.

Speaker 3 Bro, did you forget you're seven foot tall? Did you forget that you were the number one overall pick in the draft?

Speaker 3 Did you forget that you are an all-star many times? Sometimes I think Cat forget just how good he can be. Cat, do you realize that you once scored 16 a game?

Speaker 3 Cat, you special.

Speaker 3 But sometimes I think he forgets,

Speaker 3 man, I'm Cat. I'm him.

Speaker 3 bad look here

Speaker 3 all i know is fine if i'm a basketball player with my mentality i'm seven foot tall

Speaker 3 i'm putting hey i'm i'm shack i'm putting shaq never forgot he was big jack always played big shaq never played small that's what i like about shape he like man i'm sam 1325.

Speaker 3 Damn it, I'm going to play 7-1-325, but I'm a child of shop.

Speaker 3 That's an it factor. That come from within.
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 3 Hey, you talk about a young bull from the Lakers, right? How tall you say he is? Oh, you talk about Jackson Hayes?

Speaker 3 No, not the other one you don't like.

Speaker 3 Alex Lynn.

Speaker 3 Yeah, man. Man,

Speaker 3 see,

Speaker 3 that's you.

Speaker 3 That if factor, that mentality.

Speaker 3 I don't want to say mama mentality, but just that mean spirit when it comes to being out there and understanding I'm seven feet tall and I'm finna dog, whoever you put in front of me.

Speaker 3 get you finna get this work does cat have that it factor think about the mentality and the way john moron plays or the way anthony edwards plays imagine if cat had that mentality or that kind of dogging what you think he would be

Speaker 3 but

Speaker 3 but you know what cat problem is jordan i'm gonna let you go cat problem cat want to be the best shooting big man yeah cat don't like the bangs he's already said that and that's what got him in trouble last year in the western conference finals he was selling too much

Speaker 3 he was selling for the three He was selling for the jumper. And they ain't got nobody that can deal with Cat when Cat wants to play and becomes aggressive and put his back to the basket.

Speaker 3 I get it, you can shoot, but some point at some times, the game doesn't call for that. You need to dictate and say, hey, I'm going to go down the block, give it to me, give it to me, Adman.

Speaker 3 Let me have that. Go ahead, Joe.
Hey, but you got to give the big fella for Detroit some credit, Duran, too, because he playing, man. Hey, he's a monster down there, Ocho.
You know, he needs bullets.

Speaker 3 So Cat cat definitely ain't muscling him so it's almost like he kind of taking him out the game to some degree but yeah i'm like oh man i don't want him selling for jumpers i want him down there in the paint causing havoc making them dudes double team so we can create these yes

Speaker 3 they get wide open shots i do think he's just kind of floating around three-point line too much and yeah the knicks they got to have at least two guys explode you know in that in in that starting five in order for them to win because like i say they barely play any guy coming off the bench

Speaker 3 yeah hey joe hey joe i mean listen i'm i'm gonna ask this real quick do you think because cat knows he can't do nothing with young bull down there in the paint that he's gonna settle for mid-range and being out there by the three instead of going down and banging because you know you ain't finna post him up and you know you're not gonna back him down nah i think you know he's probably gonna look at this footage you know he look at the tape he's gonna look at the tape if you want to say oh joe he gonna be like okay cool you know hopefully somebody on that coaching staff tell him hey look big fella we gotta have you down there on that paint yeah no matter what being big being a huge presence to remember when we throw you the ball either a bucket foul or you kick it out spray out the three somebody got a wide open shot but uh right now what he's giving yeah this this is gonna be a long series for them man uh this is a young scary detroit team who've you know had to learn learn by experience you know throughout the playoffs like duran and kay cunningham they had never been in the postseason so they learned from game one came back in game two duplicated pretty much the same performance,

Speaker 3 but closed the deal at the end. And

Speaker 3 hey, man, Detroit basketball at his finest, baby.

Speaker 3 I look at it like this, Joe. I'm a veteran player.
I'm a pro bowler. I'm an all-pro.

Speaker 3 Ain't no young lad doing nothing with me.

Speaker 3 I know too much.

Speaker 3 I understand the moment. Right.
He ain't going to see me. Not they better double.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 They better come double. Right.
Because if you don't, I'm going to punish you.

Speaker 3 And Cat has to have, but look, Cat is who he at this point in time, Joe, Cat is who he is. I like Cat a lot, but Cat needs to be more aggressive.
Yeah, we know Cat can shoot the three.

Speaker 3 We know that. He won it.

Speaker 3 Sam Bulletin won a three-point contest. He did it.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 3 Yeah. I think, hey, look,

Speaker 3 he just got to assert himself a little more, especially in the start. You know, look, I love big body Brunson.
It just seemed like when he gets into the paint, he turned into a straight five, man.

Speaker 3 He go to pivoting. Yeah.

Speaker 3 I'm like, bro, bro, you six foot tall. How the hell you talking about you? How you going to put your shoulder in somebody's chance to get separation

Speaker 3 and shoot a turnaround? They making it work. Look, give Schroder credit.
He didn't just play great offensively. I thought defensively, he was a pass.
He was a pass on Brunson.

Speaker 3 He made him work, picked him up full court, made him go into that Magic Johnson back down. It's just Schroeder just ain't got enough bricks in his back pocket to stop him once he gets in there.

Speaker 3 No, no, no, no. Well, and Sue Thompson, when he got in foul trouble, he got in foul trouble.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 And so that was it because he's a long-rangey guy that doesn't, you know, but he, you know, he could, you know, he can play out. He can contest.
If he shoots the step back, I can contest it.

Speaker 3 I'm long and rangey enough. I don't have to worry about you beating me around the edge.
None of these other guys possess that because he's going to bully, like you said, he'll bully a Schroeder.

Speaker 3 And Schroeder is not a bad defender, but he's just light in the back pocket. Yeah.
And, you you know, Tim Hardaway Jr., the same thing.

Speaker 3 And so once and once and so Thompson, once Thompson got in trouble,

Speaker 3 you saw Brunson get super aggressive. Yeah, yeah, he did.
Super aggressive. Turned it up.
He turned it up.

Speaker 3 Thompson is a bad, he's a tough matchup for Brunson because he's so much, he's so long and athletic. All he got to do is stay disciplined.
He's playing great defense.

Speaker 3 Look, the one thing I love about Thompson is he knows his role, man. He ain't out there to do nothing.
He ain't going to be out there just jacking up no wild shots.

Speaker 3 Come out here to hustle, play defense, cause havoc, get steals, be on the break. Like, he's playing his job to the T.
Keep your head up, young fella. He's going hard out there.

Speaker 3 Yeah, that's what, and that's what, look, but the thing is, you got to play smart because Brunson is caging. Now, he'll pump fake you, and when you jump, he'll jump into you.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 So you, hey, you got to be on your best behavior when you're guarding a guy like Brunson. I don't know what it is.
Yo, what is it about them left-handed guys that's always crafty, man?

Speaker 3 You see, Amandu was like that. Yeah, you see, Sheronas, Marcelonas was like that.
All these left-handed guys, they be crafty as is.

Speaker 3 Hey, hey, it seemed like they got an advantage from the jump, you know.

Speaker 3 You know, you're just not really used to playing against lefties. So, you got to know your own game plan when you play against a lefty, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 And it just seemed like they always got an advantage. I don't know, but it's there's some crafty lefties, obviously, James Harden and Big Body Brunson, man.
Hey, listen, Ocho.

Speaker 3 Hey, hey, hey, you guard that man. It's a long game, bro.

Speaker 3 It's going to be a long night. I know you're in boxing.
You like the box and all that, right?

Speaker 3 Yeah, you know, I got a nice little footwork. Yeah,

Speaker 3 yeah. I like being in a fight with him, but hey, when the game over, you're going to be hurting.
You hear me? Yeah. Yeah.
Most definitely. Most definitely.
Oh, Lord, have mercy. Man.
What happened?

Speaker 3 Nico Harrison held another press conference today and said. He did it.
He did it again. I didn't know Luca was important to the fan base.
I didn't quite know to what level.

Speaker 3 Joe,

Speaker 3 what do you think would have happened if the Lakers would have traded Kobe and Kobe didn't ask to be traded? Cleveland trades LeBron and LeBron doesn't ask to be traded.

Speaker 3 What do you mean you didn't know?

Speaker 3 Did you, when you go today and you see all those 77s,

Speaker 3 who do you think that's from? That wasn't for Tyron Smith.

Speaker 3 That was for Luca.

Speaker 3 What the hell are you talking about? You talk about that guy that was a five-time first-team all-NBA selection, an all-star, rookie of the year. He was

Speaker 3 an MVP candidate every year. What do you mean? You didn't know what he meant to that base.
He was homegrown like a Kobe, like a LeBron.

Speaker 3 So what? If Preston were to trade, say, you know what, we're going to trade Shea, what do you think OKC gonna do?

Speaker 3 Act a fool. Exactly.
Bro, come on, Nico. Hold on.

Speaker 3 You don't think Nico doing doing this on purpose or somebody's having him do this on purpose? The fact that all this is back to back? I mean, are they trying to distract us for something else? No.

Speaker 3 You know good and goddamn well what he meant to the team. That's it's your job to actually know the importance of certain players, especially players of that goddamn caliber.

Speaker 3 So coming out and saying something this asinine and saying something as asinine as what you said last week, and you're probably going to do the same thing then.

Speaker 3 It's a constant pattern of it going on over and over and over. Obviously,

Speaker 3 we know you're being nailed to the cross for the decision of the owners that's your job you got to take that bullet okay we get it but coming out saying things like this now come on now but see like come on come on now check this out patrick dumas is reportedly frustrated with nico haser for not warning him how the fan base would react to luca trade luca is the biggest thing in dallas what do you mean you're only so you see what happens when you buy something and you don't know what you have you see he bought a team this his mom my mother-in-law purchased a team and they have no idea what they have, Ocho.

Speaker 3 It's like, I buy a store, but I don't know what in the store. So what am I selling? And I say, you know what? I'm going to discontinue my number one selling item.

Speaker 3 Why don't you tell me that was my number one selling item? You bought the damn store. You should have known.

Speaker 3 However, those team sources consistently express belief. that Dumont no longer sees Harrison as a figure with irreproachable basketball expertise.

Speaker 3 Most notably, team and league sources say dumont has had frustration with harrison not warning him or perhaps even more damningly being unaware of the fandom outrage following the trade those same sources say it's the same influence over dumont's decision to make harrison appear last week close media event which harrison did not want to do you see what i'm saying the owner you see what i said on yo

Speaker 3 owner makes the decision why did you tell me

Speaker 3 why didn't you tell me the the fans were going to be upset about me trading the most popular player?

Speaker 3 Why did you tell me that I got rid of the best player in Dallas Maverick history? I know Dirk Novitsky won a championship, but Mark Cuban said, Dirk

Speaker 3 can't see Luca.

Speaker 3 You traded it.

Speaker 3 You're supposed to know that. Normally, when you buy a business, you're supposed to know how to run it, right, Ocho? Right, Joe? Yeah.
Yeah. Joe, what do you think about this? What's going on?

Speaker 3 Luca is a global icon. Hey, Nico's a good guy, bro.
But I know he got to, you know, he got to take the foul on this one. You know, he made that decision.
Look, the owners,

Speaker 3 they ain't going to take the fall. They're going to blame it on Nico.
Yeah, that's why I got somebody do that. Take the fall.
But he's got up there publicly and

Speaker 3 took the fall himself, you know, saying that, you know, he's the one. He didn't discuss it with the coaches and things of that sort.
But.

Speaker 3 Man, you got to know how much Luca means to Dallas, man. Everybody knows.
I mean, come on, man. This is a global icon.
This ain't just, you know what I mean? Yes.

Speaker 3 Yes.

Speaker 3 You let Kraft say, you know what? I think we're going to trade Michael Jordan.

Speaker 3 Well,

Speaker 3 I didn't know Chicago was that rabid of a, I didn't know they loved the man that much. Yeah.
Really?

Speaker 3 Lou La Donchic.

Speaker 3 He just led you. So you're going to trade the guy that just led you to the NBA Finals last year.
Yeah. A guy that was 25 at the time you traded him.

Speaker 3 And you had no idea that the fans would be upset. Oh, Joe.
What do you think would happen if the Ravens traded

Speaker 3 or Kansas City's traded Patrick Mahomes?

Speaker 3 And the GM said, well, hey, and the ownership said, GM, like, well, I didn't know. I didn't know Kansas City cared about this man this month.
Well,

Speaker 3 it's kind of common sense, too, right? They should have known. If you're the owners, most of the time, let's say you're not paying attention to the team.

Speaker 3 Let's say you don't understand the importance of said player and luca dantes but i know you understand the importance of money

Speaker 3 you understand the importance of your bottom line and what matters at the end of the day and i know you understand that number 77 is the driving force of revenue coming through i bet you understand that so why would you how would you not know let's say if you didn't understand basketball Just say you was only about business and making money at the end of the day.

Speaker 3 You don't have to get rid of him. Now you got Nico Carlins looking like a fool

Speaker 3 on the goddamn sword matter of fact to the point i think they forced him to do it because he's saying such ridiculous stuff about them not knowing that they're using this as the ploy to be able to fire him on the back end yeah look and he take the whole brunt of the issue

Speaker 3 man listen

Speaker 3 i i i feel bad for nico in this situation uh

Speaker 3 because you you gotta know better than that man he's you know

Speaker 3 I understand, you know, maybe, maybe they know something we don't know, Uncle Ocho. They around him every day.
You know, they see him come to work every day.

Speaker 3 Maybe they ain't like some of his habits that he had. And they ain't think they were thinking.
No, seriously, they was thinking long-term, like, right, the summer coming up, man.

Speaker 3 We got to come off by three something,

Speaker 3 345 to be exact. 345.

Speaker 3 Joe, talk to me, Joe. What's that bad? What's that bad

Speaker 3 that Luke can be doing? We don't want to invest 345 million and something like that. Will you understand the product you're getting long-term on the court?

Speaker 3 What's that bad, Joe? Come on now. We ain't talking about no, no, no, not going to jail, you know, not not having to worry about anything concerning the nightlife of Luca.

Speaker 3 Huka,

Speaker 3 really?

Speaker 3 Bear?

Speaker 3 It's also been reported that the Nuggets are going to offer Nikola Jokic three years, $217 million. So he's not going to take the, he's not going to take the

Speaker 3 man, you know, Jokic is going to take that three years, 217 million from the nuts. And that's the max he can get? Yes.
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
70 million a year. So they was like, we give Luca this money.

Speaker 3 It was going to be five years, 345.

Speaker 3 So when his contract up, Luca's going to be 31. He's going to be in line to get four, you're going to get another five year, 450.

Speaker 3 Maybe even 500 at that point in time, because this new contract, this new Amazon,

Speaker 3 ESPN, and uh i think who else nbc

Speaker 3 played 77 billion

Speaker 3 money with a beat

Speaker 3 but here's the thing if i'm if i'm nico harrison

Speaker 3 i tell my owner i'll trade him

Speaker 3 but we're going to get a tremendous backlash Because Luca is our best player. He's our most important player.
He's our most beloved player. I said, I'll do whatever you ask me to do.

Speaker 3 I'll do whatever you tell me to do. But I just want you to know what comes along with trading it.
Now, hey,

Speaker 3 you might, the habits that people keep saying about, he likes hookah, he's drinking, whatever the case may be. I will trade it at your bequest, at your request.
But I just want you to understand

Speaker 3 this

Speaker 3 is going to be met with huge opposition by the fan base.

Speaker 3 So I want you to think about it for a day or two before I make any calls, because this is not going to go over well.

Speaker 3 He comes back,

Speaker 3 trade Luca. I'm not giving him 345, blah, blah, blah.
We're not making enough money to

Speaker 3 are you sure

Speaker 3 once he said a

Speaker 3 at the certain point in time when a when the commander gives you that kill switch, you got to go follow through with it, OJo Joe. You know that.
Yeah. Once they say, once hey, have a target in sight.

Speaker 3 Right.

Speaker 3 ain't nothing, ain't no turning back. And that's why, hey, listen, that's why I say, uh, the Mavericks got cheated, man, because they weren't thinking Kyrie was going to be hurt at this point.

Speaker 3 They want no about being no play-in team, you know, no be a top five-six seed. Like, they was going, they was going to get some teams some problems.
And without Kyrie,

Speaker 3 who was probably not probably, but it's a major piece to what we're trying to do

Speaker 3 because we lacked what rent protection or that inside presence

Speaker 3 but you got lively you got gaffer you got powell you those guys think about it you got all the way to the nba finals last year and you didn't have anthony davis

Speaker 3 right

Speaker 3 you just ran into a better team they were deeper than what you were you had tatum you had brown you had white you had prozinas for a couple of games al horford played well you had holiday you had guys coming in and contributing freight and bridger sam houser you got that.

Speaker 3 That's where Celtics beat you. They're a deep team.
Look at yesterday that game. Tatum Nor Brown played well.
Derek White was sensational.

Speaker 3 Preyton Pitcher is going to probably be sixth man of the year. That's how you win a championship because when your big guns aren't firing, it's the small artillery that gets it done.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 3 I'm going to go to my boss. I'm going to say, I will do what you ask me to do.

Speaker 3 But I just want you to know, I don't think you understand

Speaker 3 sports is a way of life in texas

Speaker 3 they're not the we're not the cowboys now we're not

Speaker 3 but just know there's going to be huge resentment if we follow through with this

Speaker 3 are you okay with this sir

Speaker 3 okay

Speaker 3 hey

Speaker 3 yeah rob what's going on Hey, what's up? The GM for the Lakers? Rob. Rob Palinkin.
Hey, Rob, what you doing, man? I ain't doing nothing, man. Hey, just chilling.
Hey, what you think about

Speaker 3 when you be really trading me AD for Luca?

Speaker 3 I gotta play it off. Yeah.
Hell yeah,

Speaker 3 A.D. for Luca.

Speaker 3 I don't know about that one now. Come on now.
Because we don't want a championship with AD. I mean, he's a guy that gives you 24 and 10, 24 and 11, going block shots.

Speaker 3 He should have been defensive player of the year all the while. I'm like, he's gone.

Speaker 3 I don't know. Are you sure, Dico? Are you sure? Hey, I want you to think about this.
I want you to think about it. I'm on the other end of the phone.

Speaker 3 I'm going to have to run this up the flagpole. I'm going to need to talk to Genie about this.

Speaker 3 Hey, Joe, we about to get there. We about to get there.

Speaker 3 Let me call you. Hey, let me call you back.

Speaker 3 Genie, I got me a fish. What you mean?

Speaker 3 What you mean, Rob?

Speaker 3 Did you know Nico Harrison just called me and asked me, will we trade AD for Luca?

Speaker 3 Plus a player that's not named LeBron Austin Reeves?

Speaker 3 Are you kidding me?

Speaker 3 And that first round draft pick in 2028.

Speaker 3 I hope you told him, yeah. I was like, no, I'm just, I'm pretending like I'm not interested, you know.

Speaker 3 Hey.

Speaker 3 Hey, Nico, so what's what up? What's up? Are you serious?

Speaker 3 I already got it.

Speaker 3 I already got the trade drawn up.

Speaker 3 AD.

Speaker 3 AD, Max Crispy, Max Christie, first round draft.

Speaker 3 Listen, listen. Nico now thinking about getting that post-presence so they can create that mismatch with Kyrie and AD in that pickup roll.
That had to be what they was thinking about because

Speaker 3 my turn, your turn with him and Luca, yeah, it got him to the finals. But Boston was just too tough for him.
They had too much. Yeah.

Speaker 3 Hell, Boston's going to be too tough for Kyrie and AD

Speaker 3 because they got presenters to throw at him they got al horford to throw at him they got another big body now what you're gonna do with jt what you're gonna do with jb

Speaker 3 what you gonna do with derrick white what you gonna do with holiday what you gonna do with pritchard houser they got so many ways to attack you you only got so much it's not like it's not like the uh the mavericks are

Speaker 3 breath the breath of talent They're not.

Speaker 3 They got good role players. I mean, Gafford is an okay, is a great role player live they do their job but they don't have what the celtics have

Speaker 3 that's what makes the celtics so tough they got jb and jt can give you 30 40 in a given game okay right they're off now you get prisingas or derrick white or you get pritchard or you get big al horford yeah so

Speaker 3 This doesn't make sense to me

Speaker 3 because it's still a two-man team with not a whole lot of depth. Right.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 Yeah,

Speaker 3 they got to figure it out, man.

Speaker 3 Well, they got a choice now. Yeah, they got to figure out what they're going to do this summer.

Speaker 3 Charles Barkley sends a message to Nico, says, I consider you my, I see you, I consider you a friend of mine. Don't do no more press conferences.
I don't even know what you're doing.

Speaker 3 I got sympathy and love for you, but I have zero idea. what you're trying to do.
That's his owner sending him out there to fall on the sword in front of everybody.

Speaker 3 Everybody knows that Nico Harrison didn't initiate this trade,

Speaker 3 everybody knows that. A trade of this bag to choose that going to the owner.
Yeah, that ain't that ain't no trade to A. That ain't no A for some draft picks and some cash.

Speaker 3 That's your franchise cornerstone. And you're trading him away before he turns 26.

Speaker 3 That's ownership because the owner is are saying, Nico, you ain't the one that's got a shell out 345 million guaranteed

Speaker 3 in the state of Texas with no state income tax. Hold on, they think they think they slick, though, huh? You don't think ownership think they slick?

Speaker 3 Not only are they sending Nico out there to fall on the sword, they sending him out there saying ridiculous things.

Speaker 3 Well, you see. So

Speaker 3 I really think it's a ploy.

Speaker 3 I think it's a ploy, honestly, to fire him on the back end and to get the fans of Dallas off their head and really put the whole thing and onus on him by firing Nico later on down the line.

Speaker 3 Because here's the thing: the source, the league,

Speaker 3 most notably team and league sources say Dumont has had frustration with Harrison, not warning him, or perhaps even more damningly, being unaware of the fandoms outrage following the trade. You see,

Speaker 3 all Nico Harrison is doing is echoing

Speaker 3 what ownership saying. Nico knew it.

Speaker 3 He's been in this position too long, oh Joe.

Speaker 3 He's been around it. He's been at Nike.

Speaker 3 Yeah. He's been around it too long for him not to know.
So I've got to go out there and parrot what ownership is saying behind closed doors.

Speaker 3 That's why he keeps having. Remember, he had a press conference with no cameras and he said defense win championships.

Speaker 3 I ain't trading no Luca. I don't know.

Speaker 3 The defensive player I get better be Bill Russell. Rest his soul.
He better be Bill Russell in his prime or Akeem Elijah one or somebody like that.

Speaker 3 Come on, man. A 26-year-old averaging 28

Speaker 3 a game?

Speaker 3 Yeah. Averaging 31 in the postseason?

Speaker 3 No, I'm not giving that up. And like I said, he had to send him out there on that mission, basically a suicide mission to take all that.
Because

Speaker 3 anytime what they say in the military oh joe they have what they call a br blast radius oh yeah

Speaker 3 okay if we drop this here what's the collateral damage what's the blast radius what is our time to that we need to get up yeah get up out of there

Speaker 3 nico you knew this this fallout is going to be like chernerbo

Speaker 3 And when that rector went off in Russia and it destroyed everything for a long, long period of time. Yeah.
That's what this is. They ain't getting over this anytime soon.

Speaker 3 They ain't getting over this. I mean, it took Boston 80 years to get over 80 years to get over that

Speaker 3 when they traded Babe Ruth. Let's see.
They ain't getting over this anytime soon.

Speaker 3 It ain't another Luca walking through that door. No.
And I think he got about another 10, maybe 12 years to play.

Speaker 3 So they're going to feel the wrath of this trade for a very long time as long as he is a Laker.

Speaker 10 I'm Mike De La Rocha. This is Sacred Lessons, a space for reflection, growth, and collective healing.
What do you tell men that are hurting right now?

Speaker 11 Everything's gonna be okay on the other side, you know, just push through it.

Speaker 13 And, you know, ironically, the root of the word spirit is breath.

Speaker 3 Wow.

Speaker 13 Which is why one of the most revolutionary acts that we can do as people is just breathe.

Speaker 3 Next to the wound is their gifts.

Speaker 15 You can't even find your gifts unless you go through the wound. That's the hard thing.
You think, well, I'm going to get my gifts. I don't want to go through all that.

Speaker 16 You got to go through the wounds you left listening to other people's near-death experiences.

Speaker 3 And that's all they say.

Speaker 16 In conclusion, love is the answer.

Speaker 17 Maybe the industry thinks that we just started skating five years ago because that's when they maybe started paying attention.

Speaker 7 It's a no-fluff conversation about putting in the years, stacking clips and receipts, and still having to prove your worth while the industry catches up.

Speaker 3 I just want to remind everyone how good Rashi Rice was last season.

Speaker 19 In his three healthy games, he was the wide receiver two in fantasy.

Speaker 3 I think Rashi Rice just goes off this week.

Speaker 20 The Chiefs come on a flip pass to Rice.

Speaker 3 They're side. Touchdown.

Speaker 20 Ramondre Stevens is my sleeper this week. This is a matchup where I think I can slide in Stevens into my flex position and he could deliver double-digit points this week.

Speaker 21 Drake takes the snap. Hands it off.
Ramondre running it right and running into the end zone. Touchdown.

Speaker 3 Hey, look. JJ Reddick said today was the best practice we've had in months.
As LA prepared for game two, he admitted that

Speaker 3 had the Lakers approached the off days leading up to the playoffs with the same vigor, then maybe we wouldn't have appeared as flat as we did in Saturday's 22-point loss.

Speaker 3 We probably could have done a few more things, a few more scrimmages,

Speaker 3 Joe.

Speaker 3 Do the Lakers rebound and tie it up at 1-1, go to Minnesota, or does Minnesota take a commanding 2-0 lead?

Speaker 3 Sorry to tell you, brother.

Speaker 3 Oh, it's over. I ain't saying it's over, man.
I don't know what Joe, but my gut feeling.

Speaker 3 Yeah. Hey, hey, hey.

Speaker 3 Take a probiotic. That gut, you feel better.

Speaker 3 Hey, hey, I got the Timberwolves trying to be greedy in game two, knowing what's at stake, knowing that they can, you know,

Speaker 3 come out and just put their will to the test and try and get this dub and go back to Minnesota, man. Hopefully, they don't come back to L.A.
Now, I know, you know, I'm going to L.A. to come out.

Speaker 3 You know, they're going to need that third score. We need Austin Reeves to,

Speaker 3 you know, give them a spark, man. They need some.
I think Ad-Man is playing pretty good defense on him, fighting over picks. I think Ad-Man is doing on both ends.

Speaker 3 I know he didn't explode offensively, but defensively, he's been great.

Speaker 3 And obviously, the guys around him, the others, like we always say, if those guys chip in, McDaniels and Reed, and they play the way they're playing.

Speaker 3 Now, I don't know if they're going to shoot like that in game one.

Speaker 3 But I don't know if Ad-Man is going to be. That's the thing.
Do you believe they're going to make 19? You believe they're going to make

Speaker 3 20 plus threes? They may not, but I don't think Ad-Man is going to have no 17 points neither. That's okay.

Speaker 3 I'll give Ad 40, as long as they don't make 23 threes, because he can't beat us with 40. It's the 23 threes that's going to crush you.

Speaker 3 Hey, look, Lakers are going to have to step up, man, and

Speaker 3 protect home. You know, you're going to meet Braun to come out and be aggressive.
So what if Luca catch hot? You need to catch hot with him.

Speaker 3 But you know the thing? Oh, Joe, you know the thing is. Player get hot, what you do.
You feeding the ball, you get out of his way until he miss a couple, and then you try to get in a rhythm.

Speaker 3 But until the meantime because when luca catch fire

Speaker 3 he catch fire yeah yeah i mean he liable to go for 20 and a quarter like that it's fun to watch and you don't want to you don't want to get in his way go ahead joe i said yeah it's fun to watch when he gets when he get it going but you know brian has a tendency to do that you know if even if ar gets off to a great start he'll make sure ar get his touches in that first quarter and uh he got to find a way to get others others going and get himself going in order for them to be effective in this series look the temple wars are young man they're gonna be flying around the mcdae yeah the the reeds and man like those guys gonna fly around play hard cause havoc the divincenzos

Speaker 3 i like the makeup of that team man they're ready for the postseason like i say ar

Speaker 3 and man hey he done took some guys out man he done took a few yeah he feeling good about himself you know he won't he he won't that luca and uh uh lebron pelt on the wall like he got that kd pilt yes like he got that uh nicola yokic's pill yes yeah that that'll be big.

Speaker 3 But I think the thing is, we get this game. The Lakers get this game here.
When is the next game? You say you think. No, I'm saying the Lakers get this game here.

Speaker 3 They're going to have two, three days off because you got to travel. When's the next game? Thursday or Friday?

Speaker 3 And they got a winning game, too.

Speaker 3 We got to. Hey, you got to win game sleep.

Speaker 3 Think about that, Joe. We had two days off, win that one.
Got two more days off. Uh-oh, he patrol.
Hold on, huh. We win sleep.

Speaker 3 You skipping, you got to win game two first. Got it,

Speaker 3 huh? You got to win game two first.

Speaker 3 You sure?

Speaker 3 What you sure

Speaker 3 is there? Echo in here?

Speaker 3 I'm just asking because hold on. Now, listen, in order for you to win game two, now I'm not.
Listen, I'm listening.

Speaker 3 I ain't the bookie. I don't bet and I don't gamble, but LeBron will have to come out and be, oh, you know what? I need to get right first.

Speaker 3 I need to get right first. My approach to this game, my approach to game two can't be like the last one.
I can't sit around and facilitate. I got to have that killer mentality.

Speaker 3 He has that a little bit, but he has to come out this game and have it early.

Speaker 3 I speak. He got to set the tone.

Speaker 3 He got to set the intensity. I expect him to have it.
Okay.

Speaker 3 Okay. I'm just making show now.

Speaker 3 Because

Speaker 3 I would love to see

Speaker 3 Legas Legacy Five.

Speaker 3 But what I saw game one,

Speaker 3 it ain't looking good.

Speaker 3 But JJ, we probably could have done a few more scrimmages. That's on you.
You the coach.

Speaker 3 You set the itinerary. You set the practice schedule.
Rhythm and timing.

Speaker 3 Exactly. You speak up for that.
Exactly.

Speaker 3 And it's the playoffs. I mean, even if...
Even if I don't tell you,

Speaker 3 Joe, you know what it is.

Speaker 3 You know the intensity turns up.

Speaker 3 Everybody on this roster, with the exception of Connet, has been in the playoffs. Okay, the young guys, they don't owe, but LeBron, Luca, AR,

Speaker 3 Finney Smith, Vanderbilt, Jackson A, all those guys have been in the playoffs. They know Gabe Vinson, they know what's at stake.

Speaker 3 So it's your job to pull the young guys along and let them know what's at stake. The intensity.
You're not going to get those ticky-tack file calls like you would in the regular season.

Speaker 3 They're going to let you play.

Speaker 3 So be prepared.

Speaker 3 The 2025 NBA Awards finalists were announced: MVP, Nicola Jokic, Shea Gilgis Alexander, Yannis Antatakumpo, Defensive Player of the Year, Dyson Daniels, Draymond Green, Evan Mobley, Rookie of the Year, Stefan Castle, Zachary Rashire, Jalen Wells, Sixth Man of the Year, Malik Beasy, Beasley, Ty Jerome, and Peyton Pritchard.

Speaker 3 All right, Joe, who you got? MVP?

Speaker 3 I got Shea.

Speaker 3 I got Shea as the defensive.

Speaker 3 Go ahead. Defensive player of the year.

Speaker 3 And run him off again. Defensive players of the year.
Dyson Daniels, Hawks, Draymond Green, Warriors, Evan Mobley, Cavaliers. I got Dyson Daniels.
Okay. Rookie of the Year, Castle,

Speaker 3 San Antonio, Rashir.

Speaker 3 Atlanta, Jalen Wells. I think he plays at Memphis.

Speaker 3 I got Castle. Castle been, he was pretty consistent this year.

Speaker 3 I agree. He can play.
Sixth man of the year, Malik Beasley.

Speaker 3 Detroit, Ty Jerome, Cavaliers, Peyton Pritchard, Celtics.

Speaker 3 I'm going Peyton Pritchard.

Speaker 3 I'm going Peyton. I'm going Peyton Pritchard.
I can see that. He's been consistent.
And, you know, when it's his time to shine or when his moment, you know, comes, he always shows up.

Speaker 3 So I'm going with Peyton Pritchard.

Speaker 3 Who you like, Ocho?

Speaker 3 Give me, give me, give me, give me, give me a categories and my name. MVP, Nicola Jokic.
Oh, oh, SCA. Okay, you can stop there.
S-C-A. S-C-A.
That's an MVP.

Speaker 3 It's been MVP for a long time, but go ahead. Defensive player of the year, you got Daniels, Draymond Green, or Evan Mobley.

Speaker 3 Oh,

Speaker 3 Daniel.

Speaker 3 Rookie of the Year, Castle, Rashir, Jalen Wells.

Speaker 3 Castle. Younger.
Rookie of the year. Beasley, Ty Jerome, Peyton Pritchard

Speaker 3 oh Pritchett

Speaker 3 most improved player Joe Kay Cunningham he beats Zubots Dyson Daniels

Speaker 3 that's dope I'm going K

Speaker 3 I think they won how many games they won 16 last year up

Speaker 3 yeah first of all

Speaker 3 you're the number one overall pick you should be eligible for this reward

Speaker 3 it should go to us it should go to Zubot

Speaker 3 he had the high uh score have it no i think i think i think uh uh uh zubach averaged a double double career high in points and rebounds okay

Speaker 3 coach of the year you got kenny atkinson jb bickerstaff i may udoka

Speaker 3 i'm gonna go

Speaker 3 i'm going i may

Speaker 3 they're gonna go atkinson but i think udoka yeah to to be the sixth seed after winning

Speaker 3 like 15, 16 games last year. Yeah.
With a clutch player, Nicola Jokic, Jalen Brunson, At-Man. You said clutch player?

Speaker 3 Yep.

Speaker 3 Jalen Brunson. Who else?

Speaker 3 Jokic. At-Man.
At-Man.

Speaker 3 Damn, that's a good one.

Speaker 3 Big body Brunson, boy.

Speaker 3 Big body Brunson, man. Hey, listen, I'm not going to lie to y'all.
He scared me down the streets when they play in Detroit or just any game. You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 Because he's gonna make a play, he's gonna either get fouled or he's gonna score it. I've wanted big body Brunson, man.

Speaker 3 I like that. They call that timeout, and they ran it on the baseline.
He went and got that three-pointer.

Speaker 3 That was a good call, Tim's out of a timeout. Yeah, great.
A great. Are there any surprises? Are there anybody that you think should have been on that got left off?

Speaker 3 Nah,

Speaker 3 No, I don't think so.

Speaker 3 Who you got with your clutch player? Jokic, Brunson, and Edwards. Yeah, I'm going with Jalen every time.
And I think Jalen's been in more clutch situations to show why he's clutch.

Speaker 3 I'm not saying Ant-Man isn't. I'm not saying Joker isn't.
I'm just saying he's been in more situations to be able to display that clutch gene.

Speaker 3 Coach of the year, got Kenny Atkinson, J.B. Bickerstaff, Ime Udoka.

Speaker 3 Ime, what you talking about? Them boy was sorry last year. It wasn't nothing to watch.

Speaker 3 No disrespect. Hey, that boy Jalen Greene, nice, though, huh? I couldn't tell.

Speaker 3 He hadn't played well the last couple of games, Ocho.

Speaker 3 Last five games, he'd been bad.

Speaker 3 Right, right. They lost game one, too, Ocho.
It's going to be hard, man, playing against.

Speaker 3 They got that champion chip pedigree over there. Hey, them boys balling, man.

Speaker 3 And that's what really concerned me about the Rockets,

Speaker 3 Joe, is that they don't have

Speaker 3 a guy they can give the ball to.

Speaker 3 They got a collective group of guys.

Speaker 3 But if you think about it, everybody, for the most part, got a guy you can hand the ball to and he go get your bucket.

Speaker 3 They're the only team don't. Even if

Speaker 3 you look at the Thunder, they got Shea. If you look at Memphis, they got Job.
The Lakers got two or three guys.

Speaker 3 You look at everybody that's in the West, they got a guy. Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 3 Everybody, every team has a guy you can hand handle the ball and he can go get your bucket.

Speaker 3 The Rockets don't have that. This is what the playoffs are about, too.
Like I tell you, we know your plays. We know what you're running.
We're switching everything, and now you got to get a bucket.

Speaker 3 And you're right. The Rockets hadn't had anybody who can efficiently

Speaker 3 be reliable to where down the stretch, we're like, okay, we can get a bucket or a foul. We give them the ball.
And you know,

Speaker 3 you know what the Warriors got. Stephen, we got the Mazing.
Raymond is staring in in his role. Them other guys, the Moody's, those other guys are playing well, too.

Speaker 3 They're guarding, they're defending, and they're playing. They're playing like, you know, this is it, man.
They know game one is always like the best game to get.

Speaker 3 Easy to understand. You made a statement earlier.
Made a statement earlier. Yeah.

Speaker 3 Joe, many think Trey was ice. Trey was snubbed, the

Speaker 3 clutch player. He buried three game-winning shots, the most by any player in the NBA this season.
The final 10-second sports quarter overtime. He owned it plus 34 in clutch games this season.

Speaker 3 You're right. I forgot about Ice Trey.

Speaker 3 But here's the thing. Everybody else teamed in the playoffs.
I know. That's the only thing.
Outside of that, look, hold up. Oh, we were fighting, the Hawks.
We were fighting early in the year.

Speaker 3 We get Jalen, Jalen, Jalen Johnson go down. in January and it just kind of took our hopes away.

Speaker 3 He was

Speaker 3 missed to everything.

Speaker 3 Yeah, walking double, double. And at the time, I think we were in the playoffs before he got hurt.
And we played good basketball. So I'm looking for my hulks, man, to get healthy.

Speaker 3 You know, we got a lot of young guys who gain a lot, who gained some great experience, you know, playing in that play-in game and understanding the magnitude of what playoff basketball is like.

Speaker 3 Man, we just got to stay healthy, come back next year, and

Speaker 3 have a rememberable season. But hopefully we can keep Trey around, man.
I've been hearing a lot of rumors, rumors, but I want to be you out.

Speaker 3 Hey, hey, Joe, I got a question for you, Joe. Speaking of that play-in game, yeah, y'all played again, and some of those players getting some playoff experience.
Who y'all lost to again?

Speaker 3 Man, we lost to the heat, oh, chilla.

Speaker 3 Okay, okay.

Speaker 3 Well, I just want to check, I just want to make sure you understood and remember. That's all.
Yeah, we oh, we got two, we got two of our starters out, big, uh, uh, what's my big center name?

Speaker 3 Uh, we got Jay. Oh,

Speaker 3 Clint Capella was out. Clink Capella been out.
He's been out. Clink been out for a minute.
So

Speaker 3 y'all had y'all wait, man. Y'all had y'all father.
You know, congrats.

Speaker 3 Wait, wait, hold on, man.

Speaker 3 Now, Matthew, Jimmy Butler were gone, right? Yeah, Jimmy been gone.

Speaker 3 So, so, collectively, as a team, I'm not, we don't have a guy you can actually go to. We have Bam.
We got Tyler Hero. You got Tyler Hero.

Speaker 3 I'm talking about that guy. I'm talking about that guy.
So you're putting Tyler Hero in the same conversations with your Ant-Man's and

Speaker 3 your Steph Curry's. Okay, we got to go to him.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 That's your guy now. Oh, you.
Oh, oh, oh, okay, okay. Oh, that's what we're doing?

Speaker 3 Is that what we're doing? Yeah, but that's, but that's your guy. No, I'm not saying he's the equivalent of those guys, but

Speaker 3 that's that guy.

Speaker 3 Okay, that's that's how I understand that. But Jimmy Butler was that guy before.

Speaker 3 You get what I'm saying? So you lose the guy, and then someone else didn't just become the guy. Because if you're that guy, you're that guy regardless of who's around you.

Speaker 3 The volume.
