All right, Ocho.

Liam Cohen, head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, says Travis Hunter winning offensively and defensive rookie of the year is possible.

Travis is listed as the start on offense and a backup on defense.

To have a chance of winning both awards, he needs to be playing full-time offense and defense.

So

what do you think?

I like it.

I like it.

I like it.

Defensively, I don't think he'll win it.

I think defensively rookie of the year is probably going to be Abdul Carter.

It's going to be Abdul Carter.

I'm not sure what the workload will look like for Asing Gentee down there in Las Vegas, but I think he will probably, probably come in second.

But watching Abdul Carter and knowing what he can do

defensively, especially coming off that edge, he's going to be a menace.

He is going to be a menace.

And you think about it.

He got Lawrence.

He got Thibodeau.

So

pick and choose.

He got a top two, three defensive tackle.

He got K-Var Thibodeau that can, you know, we know what he can do.

He can rush the passer when he's healthy.

So it's going to be hard to slide and try to like double him and take him away.

You know, normally what we've seen is that

quarterbacks

get a premium on winning rookie of the year because, oh, Joe, they got the ball.

Yo, gonna be throwing, throw 30 touchdowns.

It's hard to overcome that.

Now, you have a situation like Chase.

You know, Chase put 1,400 yards up, so it was hard to

deny him.

you look at uh

who else like you said jenti running backs you get 300 carries he averaged four and a half five yards of carry that that's 14 1500 yards right there

absolutely

and then guess what 14 1500 yards with 12 15 touchdowns

I like, I like, I like it.

I like it for offensive rookie of the year.

You like if our offensive rookie of the year?

Sure, because they're going to get him that ball.

They're going to get him that ball.

Listen, Listen, Brian Thomas Jr., he's not going.

Brian Thoman Jr.

is going to

do exactly what he did last year, plus something.

But because Thomas Jr.

is so great at what he does so early, he's going to be the one to get double.

He's going to be the one to get double.

And that's when Trav is going to do what he does.

He's going to be going to make the plays that he makes.

I'm curious when they go nickel.

I wonder if Trav coming on nickel.

Oh, yeah, for sure.

the question is is he gonna be outside or is he gonna be inside i think i think he'll be inside to start off

you think so

yeah

he tall i think he's i think he better uh outside okay see i don't i don't i don't know the depth chart for the for the jaguars i'm not sure who they are i'm sure they probably do have a nickel so they they might i'm not sure how it's gonna work

hey ocho you know them guys in them slot man them jokers stopping on them lab mcconas

hey they they running that zaro ride on on you they running that whip they running that that whip route it's different you get like keenan allen

hey did keenan allen just go back did he go back

he went back to the charges i like that i like that yeah i like i like that move too i do i like that move for our partners familiar with the system so all they got to do familiar offense familiar with uh at the quarterback um

I like it.

I like that move.

There it is on your screen.

Do you see it?

The depth chart?

Nah,

it's not up there.

It's not.

He's sending it to you right now.

Let me check that out real quick.

Yeah, he's going to be starting.

Because right now, Jordan Lewis is the nickel back.

I got it.

You got Tyson Campbell.

You got Jerian Jones.

Oh, Jordan Lewis is there.

Okay.

Okay.

Yeah, from the Cowboys.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Oh, yeah, he definitely.

Oh, yeah, he definitely, no, no disrespect.

Darnell Savage, Savage, I think he's from Green Bay.

Okay, I like Armstead, Josh Hines-Allen,

Fossar Olokun.

They got a nice little

squad.

What?

I am happy to be back, too.

Come on.

Get up.

Yeah,

they're going to be all right.

I'm going to see you.

I see you.

I missed you too, buddy.

Man, when you get special players like that, man, all you got to do is put them in position, man.

And

it opens up everything else.

You can do more when you have certain type of players with a special skill set.

That's why I like what the Steelers have this year, excuse me, on defense.

You know, they tailed off towards the end of the season for whatever reason, but they have so much now where they can do more.

It opens up the playbook because you have a certain set of players that have special skill sets.

It allows you to do more than what you could last time

or last year for that matter.

Yeah, so it's going to be interesting.

Like I said, it's,

I mean, I just,

I think that's just asking a lot of the young man to play at that elite level and to try to play two positions.

He's a grown man out here.

It's different.

Listen, he said he could do it.

We're going to find out.

We're going to find out real soon.

You're going to find out.

I have a question.

As a rookie, does he play in the preseason or no?

Yeah.

I think you got to give him some.

I think you got to give him some reason.

Okay.

Okay.

You get used to that.

get used to that speed of the game because it's completely different.

It's completely different in practice.

Titus,

what up, twin?

I guess you can tell I've been gone for 12 days.

Oh, you've been going that long?

Hey, Titus, what up, Twin?

Come on, come on down to Miami.

I'll take it to the dog park over in Midtown.

He said, I'm intact.

He said it'll throw us both out.

He's intact.

He still got his.

He still got his seat.

Yeah, that's the whole point.

I give a point.

Hey, listen.

It's a nice, nice, nice.

There's some nice poodles out there, La Collies, you know.

People sue you, man.

Stop.

Stop.

That's enough.

Got me all scratched up.

They about suing for every goddamn thing these days.

Jesus Christ.

It's all right.

Don't worry about it.

I ain't shit.

I ain't got it.

I don't know.

But it's going to be very interesting to see.

He's starting wide receiver opposite of Brian Thomas Jr.

And then he's back up to

Jerry and Jones.

So,

hey,

paying him a boatload of money.

He says he can do it.

Let's see what he can do.

Prove all the doubters wrong

the colorado buffalo football have added travis hunt and shadur sanders successes to their legacy hall uh call about colorado buffalo football they tweeted two new legends one historic hall welcome to legacy hall travis hunting shadur sanders uh

Many had issues with Shadur and Travis's jersey being retired by Coach Prime so quickly.

Ocho, did Sanders and Hunters do enough to be immortalized so quickly?

Yeah,

I would think so.

There have been some other great, great college players.

I'm not sure if they,

Brother Cordell Stewart, if I'm not mistaken,

the running back.

Well, Rajam Salam,

who's no longer with, he won the Heisman.

He was their first.

He won the Heisman.

They've had, look,

it's one more.

I think it's Supreme Court.

He's a Supreme Court justice.

Byron Wizzle White, I think it was a Supreme Court justice.

He was the first great Colorado player.

He was another running back.

I know he was a running back.

I think he wore number.

They had Eric Biennemy.

Eric B.

Anime.

Yeah.

Yeah.

They had Darian Hagan.

J.J.

Flanagan came out with me.

But they had really good football players.

I mean, defensive players.

You know, Chad Brown.

They had Alfred Williams.

They had Chris Hudson, Ronnie Bradford.

I mean,

they've had some good players.

They've had some good players.

You know, Michael Westbrook came out of there.

Ray Carruth came out of there.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Brooke came out of there.

He and Cordell was on the same team.

I mean, listen,

I mean,

Prime

saw and felt it was fitting to retire, especially with what they did.

They had two good seasons.

They turned that program around.

I don't really see anything wrong with it, especially based off what the team looked like before they got there.

And there should be nothing to be mad at.

Well, look,

you're always going to have some people because there are some people that says, hey, there are some guys that came before them and they probably should have, you know, not.

I don't think the issue is the retirement of the jerseys.

I think it's the time and how soon that will happen.

So, like a lot of these, say if it happened 20, and Ty was at, hold on, so what?

Rashad,

you do do rasham salam number but look what it took for you to do it

you gave him flowers but he ain't here to smell them

so i think

i could be wrong now i'm i'm i'm speaking as if i said okay

this is how i'm thinking i'm thinking out loud so you guys can hear me it's like okay i ain't got no problem you want to retire uh travis you want to try to do her Can we like make it like 20 years?

I'm different.

Look, let me tell you.

the University of South Carolina retired my brother's number, he was still playing.

So,

who am I?

Savannah State, they didn't retire my number, they just didn't

give it out.

There were a lot of guys that came in and wanted to wear the number too.

And I remember Mackie, who was the

head athletic trainer, and Bill Davis said, I don't think you guys realize who actually wore that number.

They have Coachie, yeah, uh, uh, Sharp wore it, Like,

a three-time first-team, black college All-American, a Kodak All-American, three-time player of the year, offensive player of the year, Georgia state player of the year.

There ain't a whole lot of black college players can say they were state player of the year.

I beat University of Georgia players out.

I beat Georgia Tech players out for that award.

Yeah, Bill said, uh-uh.

And so, Coach Davis had passed, and

the president got in touch with Bucket.

Bucket put me in touch with him.

He says, hey,

after talking to everybody that was here and

some of the faculty was still there,

nah.

So

it ain't come to bother you, not Jordan.

But honestly, Ocho, I think that has a lot to do with it.

It's not that the numbers got retired.

There's like, is that it's like they bypassed the line.

so you know alfred williams a chad brown who was buckets award winners and things like that uh what why wouldn't whoever was in a position of power why didn't they have him retired then

bro don't start me the line i don't know i don't know that much about colorado i'd be i i played in the state and i'm familiar with them but i i don't know listen if they felt that much about them and they were great as they were during their time there whoever was in in in place should have retired them should have retired to georgia if they saw fit.

So I'm not sure why people are complaining.

Deion Sanders during his time having Shadur.

I mean, I'm confused.

It makes no sense.

Travis Hunter

might have been the top-selling jersey when he was playing.

And I'm not talking about Providence Hunter.

I'm talking about it in general.

The Colts released their first official depth chart today ahead of their Thursday preseason game against the Ravens.

The quarterback selection depth chart reads as follows.

Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson Sr.

Oh, I like that.

I like how they did that.

They said or,

right?

But that thing up in the air, huh?

That thing,

it is up in the air.

It's up in the air.

Oh, my goodness, man.

I'm hoping Anthony Richardson is doing everything possible.

I hope he's doing everything right.

Going the extra mile, watching extra film, staying at the practice of the receivers, talking to your officer coordinator, talking to your head coach, doing everything you can

to make sure you do your best to win that job.

Yeah.

I hope so.

Sorry.

What I don't get, though, look, I believe you could have got the same, I believe you could have got the same results.

bringing a guy in there and says, hey, I'm going to give you an equal opportunity to compete with this job and paid paid him 5 million.

Oh.

As opposed to bringing Daniel Jones in there and paying him 14 million, because you got an expensive ass backup if you don't win this job.

That's the agent.

The agent worked this magic.

The agent worked this magic.

The agent

got in that money.

I think if it was anywhere else, he would have gotten no 14 million if there'd be no backup.

No.

Yeah.

And plus, Ocho.

I'm going to give you an opportunity to compete for a starting job.

Ain't a whole lot of places we're going to give him an opportunity to compete for a starting job.

So this is, I mean, and I get it.

I would have gone there also.

$14 million and a legitimate opportunity to compete for a job.

Most definitely.

Most definitely.

Can't complain about that.

But you're absolutely right.

Anthony Richardson needs to stay healthy.

Hopefully, he's learned from some of the mistakes that he's made over his first two years.

And through that process, maturity

and just

understanding what it takes to be a professional

quarterback,

hopefully he's able to turn the corner.

You don't have a choice but to turn the corner.

You know what a third year means, right?

That should make it a breakie year.

That's when teams make a decision.

You know what?

Are you our future or are you not?

Or do we need to keep looking for someone at that position?

Well,

third year, guess what they normally do with quarterbacks, when they play well?

They normally reward them after the third year.

This is this year.

Yeah.

So, yeah, look,

he has a,

you know, he's saying all the right things.

You know, hey, I gotta, you know, I gotta eat a certain way.

I gotta cut the candy out, Ocho.

I gotta eat like a professional.

I have to do things like a professional.

I have to study.

I gotta be the first one in.

He's saying all the right things.

Now it's a matter of doing

all that lines up.

You say this, you do this.

And because they, look, you look at that team offensively,

they got a good team, Mocho.

They really do.

When you look at their skill position players, you look at their running back, they got a solid offensive line.

They got a nice defensive line.

They got a good, they

surely do.

Yeah, they got some good players.

But I just feel they the last couple years, they've been held back by the quarterback.

There's no other way around it.

And we're not taking no shots at it.

We're not beating nobody down.

It's just the facts that their quarterback play has been insufficient, inadequate,

not up to

win.

And when you got, and when you got those, you got Jonathan Taylor and you got Michael Pittman Jr.

Pittman Jr.

and you got Pierce and you got all those guys no bro and downs what's what's the other guy uh is it mcmillan no

no no no no no they got pierce

june uh uh pittman jr and they got another guy i think he wear number 10 if i'm not mistaken

i might i might might might be saying his last name

yeah oh ad mitchell mitchell that's what is that about mcmillan mitchell hey ad mitchell a he

downs

josh downs yeah oh they got oh they got some they got some, they got some skill position player.

A.D.

Mitchell is going to be nice, boy.

Yeah.

Defensively, that front seven, they really good.

Now the back end, hey, y'all need to tighten up a little bit, but hey, they got a nice front seven.

The quarterback play needs to match that.

That's it.

When you've accumulated that kind of talent, because guess what, Ocho?

You like to think, and that's what teams do.

They try to, hey, let's mortgage this thing.

We got to, you see what Houston, the Texans are doing.

They're like, we got this quarterback on a rookie contract because that next contract, it's going to be kind of hard to be able to keep all these pieces around, said individual player.

Even if he gives you a discount, he ain't going to give you no $100 million discount.

Absolutely not.

So

it's going to be incumbent on Anthony Richardson to do better, to play better.

Look, he got drafted on potential ojo that's what it was he was basically a 50 quarterback in college he was a 50 quarterback in high school he's been a 50 quarterback but the tools that he present i mean oh joe he's 6'5 he's 245 he ran 4'4

he could throw the ball 80 yards throw the ball 50 yards on one knee

all that side but that's

this is not the football olympics put it together

You need precision, you need touch, you need understanding, you need the ability to process information, decipher that information, and then the ball needs to be gone

to the right player in the right position.

Yeah.

I don't think you and I breaking, we're not breaking news to anybody.

You watch the game, you know his play needs to get better.

In order for them to be the type of team that the Colts want to be,

he's got to vote.

Oh, Joe, he's got to vastly improve.

We ain't talking about no marginal improvement.

We're talking about vastly improving.

Yes, huge jump.

He's got to.

Especially.

And look, and it's going to be look, it's going to be

the owner.

Jim Ursa passed away.

His daughters are running the team now.

So, you know, they're going to have that.

You know, they're going to be playing.

I'm sure Shane Steichen, who's the head coach, is telling them,

hey, we got to play for something.

Mr.

Ursa, this season is dedicated to him and X, Y, and Z, and rightfully so.

But

Mr.

Richardson, bro, you got to perform.

Yeah.

They're paying you.

Hey, they took you.

They took a chance.

And that's the only thing, Ojo, you see you in the man.

I want the sure thing.

It's things like this that gets you fired.

Because the last thing I want to be doing is taking a quarterback three years ago, and I'm right back in the draft, taking a quarterback again

dang

i suppose be trying to find i'm supposed to be trying to fill in oh cho i buy a house ocho i ain't trying to buy a house in three years i'm just adding pieces i'm adding some pool some pool for i'm adding some furniture by the pool maybe maybe i get a end table something like that oh choose i ain't really trying a whole new house that's a that's a good one that's a good that's a good uh analogy i like that

and so that's that's that's anthony richardson he's gotten improved to the point that they just add pieces around him.

You don't want to be

the piece that gets replaced.

It's not a good thing.

First, first, first, first, first.

Ocho, this weekend.

Yeah.

It was unbelievable.

Tell everybody.

Tell everybody.

Take your time now.

Take your time.

Obviously, I went through this.

I experienced this.

14 years ago in 2011.

And

it was a great, it was unbelievable.

I mean, it was a great honor,

but this one topped it.

Yes, sir.

This one topped it because of the significance of it, what my brother meant to me and Ocho to be in that Nitschke luncheon on Friday and hear Rod Woodson and hear Aeneas Williams and hear Daryl Green and some of the defensive players, be it Richard Dent and Johnny Randall,

say, man, this was long overdue for your brother to hear, to hear them say that.

because

I already knew it.

You're preaching to the choir.

Yeah.

I sing up here every Sunday.

So I ain't new to the

congregation.

I ain't new to the congregation.

I'm here.

I'm backing you up every week.

So I know what he is.

I know what he was.

And to see him finally get that recognition.

And to my mom, you know, there'll be other moms that have sons in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but they won't be first.

To have my sister and my coach who coached both of us, coaching my entire family,

my kids there, my sister-in-law and my niece, Susan in Summer, there to witness that and to experience that, Ocho, man.

Look here.

And that's a great feeling, boy.

Man, Ocho, man.

I can't, it's hard for me to describe, Ocho.

And I knew I would be emotional, even though I had already, you know, I was his presenter and I had already done my part via video.

So I had did that a couple of weeks before.

And so I thought,

but the more he talked, the more he talked.

And

when he says, I only have a couple of minutes left,

but the last couple of minutes, I won't, I won't, I want you, you got to come up here.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And when he called me to the stage and I had no idea what he was going to say, he, you know, he didn't write anything down.

He was the only one that didn't have notes.

He didn't have anything.

He said, I'm just going to speak from the heart.

Yeah.

That's how, you know, that's pretty much how he does all his speaking.

And

to hear him say

that everything he did was for an audience of one.

He didn't care what you wrote about him.

He didn't care what you said about him.

None of that mattered.

Because the only person that he wanted to impress was me.

Everything that he did was because of me.

And to hear him say, you know, you know, you can't lead

without following.

And to hear

him,

because it's almost like I'm like,

it's replaying

the very words and how I felt about him.

How I feel about him.

And to hear him say that

and to know the relationship that he and I have.

And I think people got an opportunity to see that on full display.

Even on Friday night at the Gold Jacket presentation when, you know, you walk the gauntlet, you go through all the Hall of Famers.

And we had almost a record, Joe.

We had 111 members back.

Now, mind you, of 382, my brother is the 382nd member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

And if I'm not mistaken, I think there are 181 living members.

Right.

So that means there are 200, 201 that are no longer with us.

Yeah.

Talking to Bobby Bell this morning, getting on the plane, he's 115.

There's only six with a lower number than him that's still remaining.

So, and then, you know, you know, seeing all that, but to be there and to experience it, Ocho,

my brother's really not an emotional guy.

Like I said, I think I've only a handful of times.

And like you said, when Papa died, he didn't cry.

When daddy died, he didn't cry.

When Granny passed, he didn't cry.

But to be in his presence and to know what this moment meant to him.

Right.

My brother don't let a whole lot of things bother him.

But to be around him, Ocho, because I know him better than anybody.

Yeah.

I know him better than anybody.

I know what this moment meant to him.

I know what he felt.

I, I, I, my sister said, hell, I thought he was going to pick you up off the floor at the gold jacket ceremony.

Right, right.

I said, yeah, and throw his back out in the process.

But, Ocho, man,

to see, to see how he was walking around and to see the

love and the kudos that he was getting from those other gold jacket.

wearers and the members and at his party and and to have the bust and to have his family.

Cause we don't get, we don't, like I said, Ocho, we don't get together much.

And I said, we, bro, we got to do a better job of that.

Yeah.

I say, look, when you really cut it down to, I said, us, it's me, you, mama, and Libby,

my kids,

we, and, you know, Susan and somebody said, we got to do a better job, bro.

Right.

We got to do a better job.

I said, you know.

Theoretically, mom could still outlive us long, but come on, we can do a better job than what we've been doing.

But, Ocho, that was the crown of achievement there.

Ain't nothing top in that.

Ain't nothing topping that, Ocho.

Because

there's

if you play a sport

to go into your sports heaven, and that's what the Hall of Fame is.

Yes, sir.

Be it baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming,

rock and roll Hall of Fame.

If you go into your profession's heaven,

that's what the Hall of Fame is.

When you get there, okay yeah

now that's it that's it and man i i i cried uh i've been up all night um

the

the love and the respect that was shown to my brother

man oh joe yeah i already listened you i boy i already know i already know

jordan posting so much stuff i'm like well damn.

I'm looking at my feed.

I'm like, well, damn,

did you go to sleep?

You posted in the middle of the night?

Because

every time, collab, collab, post, post, post.

I'm like, well, damn.

Speaking of, listen, somebody sent me something.

They didn't have your information.

You saw this photo gallery I sent you?

Uh-uh.

You just sent me something?

Man, no, this was a few days ago, remember?

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, they ain't had your information shoot.

They sent me the whole photo gallery.

Oh, man, it's

that moment, bro.

And you know, riding in the parade and everybody, because it was the Packers, the Packers traveled really well and to see some of his teammates.

Because I don't know if you noticed, Ocho, when he sat down with me,

I didn't know this at the time.

I didn't.

I didn't know he never shared this.

And so what he said on the pod was the first time.

And when he had his neck surgery, no one called him.

Not a teammate, not a coach, not a front office.

We call hell getting him to accept

them doing this party.

Right.

I said, because what I told him, I said, now you have to understand

the people that's in place now

were in place then.

Right.

I said, now,

I'm not saying that your

anger

isn't warranted.

I said, but in this situation, it's misplaced.

Right.

The people that you should be upset with,

they weren't there.

Yeah, they're long gone.

They were there.

And I didn't know, like I said, Ocho, I didn't know that.

I did, Ocho, the man, there's a chance that he could have been paralyzed.

Yes, sir.

From neck down.

He could have been a quadriplegic.

Now, mind you,

last season, he still has.

Tie for the third most receiving touchdowns in a single season, and he never played another season.

So he goes under the knife and not no not just imagine ocho you go through a surgery that you could be paralyzed or worse

the owner a coach a teammate not even tj not carson

not the general manager not your head coach not even you jack

no one calls you and checks on you

boy listen

that is it's it that that tells you all you need to all you need to know, though.

You hear me?

So, think about the people you just named.

Think about the people you just named.

Nothing is even wrong with me, and everybody you just name, I talk to at least three times a month.

Mind you, I have I am of no value to Marvin Lewis, right?

I'm of no value to Hugh Jackson anymore.

Hell, TJ, me and TJ, we in a group chat with about 20 bangles, so that's that's a constant, a constant uh, you know, form of communication, but that, that would hurt so bad.

It did.

It bothered me.

The people that I went to war with, the people that I'm playing for,

not giving me a call with it with the extent of my injury, with a chance I could be paralyzed, and I can't play ball no more, and nobody reached out, not a flower, not a motherfucking card.

I'm like, damn, I'm sorry.

So I think that that bothered him the most.

Yeah.

And

he's still, I was like, bro, you know, and he's, he's finally like, like, letting it go.

Right.

Because my brother, you know, he, you know, he's, he's,

he doesn't hit you over the head with it, but

carries his Bible.

He goes to church.

He reads the scripture.

So he's, and so he's learned, Ocho, that I, I've got to let this go.

He says, I can't be what I'm proclaiming to be if I still have this in my heart.

Yes, sir.

And so, uh, but it was, it, it was tough for him.

Um, I'm number, I'm member 267.

He's member 382.

I think they said over 30,000 men have played this game, coached this game, owned the team, been a general manager.

30,000.

382 men have a gold jacket.

They said over 300, what is it, 300 million men have played the game of football?

Let us say get on your 300 million.

Oh, yeah.

So my mom, my mom's like, I got two boys.

Tell me about, I probably need to, and I might have another son out there somewhere.

I say, you don't.

You don't.

You ain't got another son.

You ain't got another daughter.

I promise you.

This is all you got.

Yeah.

You got what you got.

Daddy, hey, you told daddy shop was closed after me.

You say, hey, when they ask you, they say,

Papa asks you, say, well,

Alice,

what you want?

Daddy, I don't give a damn if it's a lizard.

I'm done.

So

you got what you got, mama.

That's it.

But she was happy.

My father, my coach,

coach all, like I said, you know, he was there, coached all my uncles.

My uncle

started graduating high school in

1966.

i graduated 86.

yeah he taught for 50 years uh and having him there

but oh joe i i don't know if you saw this i know you couldn't pick it up but at the gold jacket ceremony what they did they started doing i don't know when they started it um this is my first time back since 2019 is that obviously you walk the gauntlet you know so you have four guys two walk this way two guys walk that way and you got all the hall of fames and they give a congratulations welcome to the fraternity welcome to to the brotherhood then you get up on stage and then i was really the only presenter that was actually there right uh uh dean spanos who presented uh

uh

no his dad his dad was yeah his dad was there i think his dad was there jared allen's dad was there put the code on him marcus put the code on eric allen and then uh lt laddain and thomason put it on uh gates antonio gates but anyway and so you know they come up they bring your family out they bring let your kid your wife come up, your kids come up, your mom, block X, Y, and Z.

So Jared Allen,

family, Jared Allen families come up there, and everybody, he's excited.

You know, his wife is excited.

The girls come running to him.

I think one of his daughters had on cowboy boots.

But anyway, you know, he got his signature, his signature move, Ocho.

You know what he do?

He calf rope.

He goes down on one knee.

Yeah.

Hit the calf, tie it up.

And wow,

he goes down on one knee, calf rope that thing.

Yeah,

split his pants.

So, where I am, I can see.

Right.

I think he ripped his pants.

Right.

From the back of his knee all the way up to the top of his belt.

Really?

Yeah.

So now they got to rush over and get, they got to rush over because the hotel is really close by where they were staying.

They got to rush over, get a police escort, and get him a pair of pants.

Because, you know.

Hey, hey, that's funny.

That's funny.

And there, there's a clip out there.

And I know we didn't get a chance to vet it and we don't know who it belongs to, but there's a clip out there.

And you can see him.

He grabs the back and he grabs.

At first, I thought he had tweet.

I said, damn, you tweak your hamstring.

You don't do no, you know.

But then, as he started to move, I was like, nah, bro, you ripped, you ripped him.

And he really did.

But it was great to see, like I said, I know Gates.

Gates, my guys, look like a little brother to me.

And to see, played against Eric Allen.

I played against EA in Philly and when he was at the Raiders because he was chasing me in the end zone.

And who else?

Jared Allen.

Jared retired.

He came to Kansas City the year I retired.

And

who else?

EA Gates?

That was it.

No, who else?

Oh, yeah, obviously played against my brother twice.

But, oh, OJ,

it was unbelievable.

They're doing so much.

They're building it up now.

They're trying to do more for the uh the players that are in the hall of fame, right?

But it's a it's an unbelievable, it's an unbelievable experience, and uh

that's dope.

That's laughing.

I don't know what I did to deserve all this, what you've done for my family, but I appreciate the biggest news of the day.

Oh, show the Browns have released their death.

Okay,

Joe Flacco, I told you, I told you, QB1,

Kenny Pickett,

two,

Dylan Gabriel, three, Shadura Sanders, five.

Excuse me, four.

But they did bring in because two of the four quarterbacks are injured.

Hamstring, Kenny Pickett, and Dylan Gabriel.

And a few hours ago, this is what Adam Shepherd tweeted.

The Browns are signing Tyler Snoop Huntley, who spent part of last season with Cleveland.

With Kenny Pickett, Dylan Gabriel nursing hamstring injuries and Shadura Sanders having a sore shoulder.

The Browns need another arm.

Enter Huntley.

Yes, sir.

Talk to me.

What are the Browns?

I don't know what they're doing.

We don't know what they've done the last 35 quarters.

Do they know?

Are we sure they know what they're doing?

Have they known what they've done since that franchise has been established?

Have they figured it out yet?

Because the last good quarterback, no disrespect to the quarterbacks that have played for the Cleveland Browns, the last one that has been of decency has been Bernie Colesar, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, that's in mid-80s.

There you go.

There you go.

That's no disrespect to any of the quarterbacks that have played there, but it is what it is.

We talk about consistency.

Have we had one for a decade that we've been able to lean on and build around?

You had a couple of years, you got a couple of years of Baker, but outside of that, no.

No disrespect.

Come on, man.

Come on, man.

So, how do we, how do we

support the trust this organization when it comes to choosing quarterbacks at a position when they haven't figured it out all these years?

All of a sudden, now they got all the motherfuckers.

Excuse me, now they got all the sense.

They're supposed to have all the sense now.

The death chart to me,

I'm gonna let you go.

The death chart to me doesn't mean anything.

We know what Jack Joe Flacco will do when the lights come on.

Kenny Pickett had this opportunity when he was drafted to the Steelers.

So we've seen a sample size that already.

I mean, no disrespect to him.

He's not the answer.

Dylan Gabriel has success at Oregon when the lights come on, but it's a different ball game in in the NFL with them grown men that got mouth to feed.

Everyone should get an ample chance to win their starting position.

We already know who quarterback money is going to be.

We know who that's going to be.

The depth chart doesn't mean anything.

What they're trying to do is they're trying to break young bull.

They're trying to break him, huh?

That's all it is.

From the draft process to getting drafted in the fifth round to the owner coming out and saying what he said last week to now.

Man, come on with that bull drive, man.

I don't see how Kenny Pickett still remains number two.

He hadn't practiced since the 26th of July, if I'm not mistaken.

So he's been dealing with a hamstring injury.

But

when you go out and sign somebody in free agency, I mean, I guess that does tell you they do think highly of him because they signed him.

Dylan Gabriel, he's dealing with a hamstring.

I guess the worst thing that happened is that we could have found out because

had both of those guys been injured, we head into the first preseason game and only flacco and shador is healthy now it remains to see to be seen how much joe flacco is going to play if he plays i'm thinking maybe a series ocho that's top let's let's be generous and say a series

now that was going to be shador opportunity to basically take us home We saw Trey Lance.

Trey Lance started the game and played, what, deep into the fourth quarter?

Hell, he might have finished the game.

With that being said,

the worst thing that could possibly happen for the Browns is that the two quarterbacks that you're probably counting on, they both got hurt.

Most definitely.

And they got hurt early.

Now, we'll see how soon it remains to be seen.

I think I said last night they played Thursday.

They played Thursday or Friday.

Is it Friday?

Okay,

they play Friday against the days.

Three more days.

Three more days.

I'm excited.

Is Shadur going to play?

Yes, he doesn't have a choice.

This is part of his regime.

But if it's showing it, but what if he had?

I mean,

clearly, they don't feel that confident because if they thought Shadur was going to be able to go, would they have brought a fifth quarterback in?

Yeah,

they had to bring somebody else in because Kenny Pickett's probably not going to play, especially with a Hampstead injury.

The game is fighting.

I don't think either one.

I don't think two and three is going to play.

So definitely, definitely he's going to play.

Listen,

the eye in the sky doesn't lie, and they need Shador to put what he can on tape.

They need to, what are we going to get?

What did we draft?

All the work we put in, obviously, going against offense and defense in practice.

That don't mean nothing.

Well, you don't expect to get Ocho, how long you expect the $500 call to last?

Think about where they drafted him now.

Now, clearly, they ain't putting a whole lot of resources behind it.

No,

so they're not.

Let's let's let you know what, Ocho.

You know what we do here on Nightcap.

We're talking about it.

Talk to me now.

Chat, you know, when you go by what we used to call, when I was growing up, we call it secondhand.

When you go by something secondhand and you spend $500 or you spend $1,000 and as is, no warranty,

you're not expecting, okay, hopefully they get me from point A to point B.

They drafted Shadur in the fifth round.

They're not expecting much of Shadur.

They didn't because if they thought that much of him, they'd have drafted him higher.

If they thought that much of him, they would have given him a fair opportunity.

But that's not what they've done.

And I'm not, look, that's their organization.

They run it how they see fit.

But I don't know, and people in Cleveland, I don't know how you would still have trust in this organization, considering how many quarterbacks and every quarterback they say, oh, he's franchised.

He's franchised.

You said that with Derrick Anderson, and you said that before him, and you said that after him.

Baker got injured and you moved on from him.

Now, Baker didn't have the weapons that he has in Tampa.

I don't think Baker's like, oh, my God, hang on.

I wish I could have stayed in Cleveland.

The weather's a lot licer in Tampa and there's no state income tax and he had a great support system around him.

With all that being said,

I would think,

I don't think it's much to like, boy.

Maybe they bet against him.

Listen, it happens all the time.

I don't want to, if I'm, if Shadur, how does that make me look?

If Shadur looks well, oh, Joe.

Wait, he gonna look.

Excuse me.

The adversity and the obstacles that young bull has had to

endure in general.

He's been, he's been pretty been prepped for this.

He's been prepped for this.

Oh, they're against me since he got drafted.

When he dropped in the fifth round, he already knew what time it was.

When your opportunity gets there, when you get your opportunity, you have no choice but to shine

you have no choice they're betting against him not to do well

right but if you want me to win the race ojo you got to put me on a fairbread like everybody else you can't give me a klysdale and say go win this race is he let me ask you this when he is in the game is he gonna get the first team offensive line

uh-oh Because that's what when they want to when they want to give you a serious look, Ojo, you and I both played this game for a long period of time.

When they want to give a receiver a serious look, they let him run with the ones.

They don't continuously see what he can do with the twos and threes.

They give him a fair opportunity with the ones.

The number one quarterback, the number one offensive line, and the other one receivers on the opposite side of him.

Quarterbacks, when they are running backs, when they really want to see what you can do, they let you run with the one, the number one O-line.

And normally, when they pull the offensive line out, guess who else is coming out?

The quarterback.

Because the quarterback, the starting quarterback, is not going to be in there with the twos and threes.

The starting running back is not going to be in there with the twos and threes.

So I'm going to be very interesting to see.

It is the first preseason game.

And given the way the preseason is done now, starters don't normally play.

They don't normally play.

And they don't play much.

So Shadur is going to have to make,

Shadur is going to have to make wine with the water that he, the whale water that he's been giving.

You're going to be all right.

He's not been given purified water.

He's not been given bottled water.

So he's going to have to make do it what he has.

The good thing, though,

the cards that he's dealt on Friday night when he enters that game, regardless of what's surrounding him, he's going to make something happen.

When he does make something happen, when he's able to make something out of nothing, and this is no disrespect to the twos and the threes and the fours that are trying to make that team, everybody out there buying for a job

for sure.

But you and I both know.

I know, but listen, they're only about five jobs up for grab.

They know, they know with it.

They know within 40 guys, 41 guys, who's going to build that rocket.

Listen, they don't know.

They don't know yet because what they're planning on and what they're trying to do, whatever it may be,

when he gets his opportunity, all he got to do is not to go down.

I don't care what you put around me.

I'm going to show you.

I'm going to get the job done.

So imagine

if I can get out there and cut up on Friday with threes and fours and twos at my helm, what you think will happen when I got the ones?

What you think will happen when I got when I got Judy, huh?

And Joku and the rest of them boys at my disposal as my weaponry.

If I can do this with my threes and fours and twos out here in a preseason game,

all he's done all his life is win, huh?

That's all he's done.

So now you put me in this situation, a little obstacle, a little adversity.

All right,

I believe you people.

I got this.

I've been here before.

I got got this.

Yeah,

I agree with you, Ocho.

I mean, he's never had a situation like this.

You don't know what you can overcome until you're faced with it.

God dogged me with my pen.

Oh, that's a good one.

Let me write that down.

Because strength is fast.

Still fast, man.

I got to write that down.

I'm going to put that in my notes.

Hold on.

Because, Ocho, here's the thing.

See, strength is not what you possess.

Strength is overcoming something that you didn't think you could.

See, a lot of people thinking, well, I can lift this or I can do that.

That is not strength.

Strength is overcoming something you didn't think you could.

He's never been in this situation before.

He's been the best.

And now

he's going to have to, that strength that his father has instilled him, his father is very biblical.

His father is very into the church, is into the word.

All those words that his father has been preaching to him for a lifetime, it will be put to the test.

See, like when the devil told Judge, yeah, of course, God, he's gonna serve you.

You give him everything.

Look at the family, look at the livestock that you have, look at what you blessed him with.

Why would he not serve you?

Remove the hedge, and he'll curse his very maker.

Shadur has had abundance

of everything.

He had a dad that had the resources to get him the opportunity to go learn and study under Tom Brady, to get him throwing coaches, and to put him in the best situations.

Now,

you can call on that

the recall without what Tom said this, and this guy said that, and do this, do that.

But at the end of the day, when you fall on your knees,

now

because see, that's what faith is,

is believing,

even though you can't see it.

You see,

man says, show me and I'll trust you.

God says, trust me, and I'll show you.

You see the difference between the two?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Shadur is going to have to rely on his faith

because at this time, that's all he has.

And I'm not so sure that he's not the only one that has it because I'm not so sure the people in that building have faith in him.

Listen, the people in the building, you ain't got to worry about that.

You don't have to worry about that.

At the end of the day, if they don't want you, if they don't want you,

let me put on film.

Let me put on film.

This is what you got to do.

At the end of the day, regardless of what they do, regardless of where I am on the depth chart, I have a job to do.

And I'm going to do it to the best of my ability, regardless of what you put out there on the field with me on Friday.

At the end of the day, it's still football.

We've been all been playing football season.

Cream arise to the team.

Man, you just took the words right out of my mouth.

I've been in Shadura.

See, I was Shadur Sanders before Shadur Sanders just at a different position.

I know what it's like.

I went to a team that just went to the Super Bowl.

Although they got drubbed, they brought every receiver back.

Mark Jackson, Vance Johnson, Ricky Natille, Michael Young.

They only keep in five receivers, and four of the guys that went to the Super Bowl are back.

They're back.

You're going to be out.

So we got, they bring in four or five other receivers.

Shannon Sharp's a seventh rounder.

I know that, but I'm I'm supposed to be a cat body.

But what you expect out of me and what I expect out of me are two different things.

I don't let you set my agenda.

I don't let you set my expectation.

I see you.

That's how Shadur has to think.

I know what y'all, I know what y'all playing.

I know, hey, in life,

when Ray told Claude, he's like, I know you're thinking something.

You got something up your sleeve.

I know you got something brewing.

I ain't got nothing, Ray.

I got an ass cutting for your brewing.

Shador just needs to be Shador.

He doesn't have to be any, he doesn't have to be anything else other than that.

Most definitely.

And that's good enough.

His best is good enough.

He doesn't have to be extraordinary.

This is now the NFL.

It is the league.

You remember that movie, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

There are a lot of extraordinary gentlemen in this league.

A lot of them.

but that ain't what he has to beat out

and that's that's no disrespect to them let's just let's be realistic they take it how they want to

i'm just saying

joe flacco is in year 18 and he's way past his prime

kenny pickett hey we'll see he's hurt can't make the club in the tub dylan gabriel he's hurt

I'm telling you what's going to happen.

Say one thing about it.

One thing, one thing about the football gods.

You hear me?

One thing about the football gods.

When they know, when they know, especially if it's funny business going on, the way they moving,

cream always rise to the top.

That's it.

I don't care what you put around me.

I'm going to make it work.

I'm going to make it to do the listen.

When you go to the casino and they deal you them goddamn cards, you can't control what you dealt.

You got to play the hand you got to deal.

You got to play the hand you dealt.

You got to play it to the best of your ability.

That's it.

That's all you got to do.

Go out there with just straight, straight confidence.

This is my team.

You got to walk it.

You got to play like it.

You got to walk in that stadium like you own it.

You got to walk.

You got to.

Oh, I see the game y'all playing.

Okay, bet.

Let me show you something.

Yeah.

And it's not easy because I don't want people to think that, oh, he, you never, yes, yes,

there were nights that I would go to bed and I'm asking myself, am I good enough?

I mean, I only got three plays and I ain't catching pants.

So if I'm a receiver, how am I getting judged

by everything else?

To do as a quarterback, he don't get no reps.

How is he getting judged?

Okay,

I caught one point.

I caught it.

I caught it.

And it's like, man, is it...

Man, I had this great career at Glenville.

I had a great career at Savannah State, and now I'm here.

In my mind,

what person doesn't think that he's better than some of the people that he's going against?

It wasn't like

I wasn't going against

Hall of Fame receivers.

It wasn't Jerry.

It wasn't Jerry Rice and my brother and Chris Carter and all those guys out there.

That was how I was going to have to try to win time from.

But look, it gave me confidence that John Elway told me I could play in this league.

He thought I had the ability to play.

It helped me a lot when Mark Jackson

would legitimately tell me what I needed to do.

But yeah,

I'm fighting for a job and we're fighting for a job and a guy told me the wrong route.

I didn't know it was the wrong route.

I went in there and ran it.

Dan Reed chewed my ass up.

Hey, asked me what the hell?

I'm running the route.

Hey,

oh, I'm swole.

I just knew I read the right route.

Hey, nice move, a nice slap,

arm or rib that try to, you know what I'm saying, Ocho.

Hey, I hit it right quick.

Because, you know, back then, you spend too much time dancing in the line of scrimmage, they're going to come up through your face mask.

So, a plant, chop, I'm over.

He blowing the whistle up like, damn, I ain't even halfway through my route.

Oh, Joe, what he blowing the whistle for?

Let me get this rock.

Let me do something on it.

Shadow Shark, what the hell are you doing?

You know, me old smart.

I'm thinking to myself, what the hell it looks like?

I'm doing running that route.

What you got on such and such?

I said, I thought I got

what could I say?

Somebody told me the wrong route.

You supposed to know what the hell you supposed to do anyway.

That's that's a

lesson learned.

Let's learn.

It's a cutthroat business, oh, Joe.

Bro, I'm trying to get a job.

Absolutely.

And

if I can remove you out of the way to make my opportunity to get this job easier, guess what I'm going to do?

I am going to remove you.

Called removing the competition.

We know it.

We hear all about

the drug, what they try to do.

Take over somebody's territory.

You try to expand the territory.

It doesn't matter how.

I just need to expand.

I need to make sure.

So he tried to remove me.

I've run the wrong route.

Hey, let me, hey, no ass again.

But you know what?

And Mary Porter used to say, God don't like ugly, sometimes he don't like pretty.

Guess who wasn't the first one to get cut?

But he told you the wrong route.

Hey, listen, one thing about it, boy, you can't deny greatness, boy.

You can't.

You can't deny greatness.

You know?

It was meant for me to go there.

Remember when we got when Shador got drafted, I said it's a blessing in disguise.

Because

they've always had an issue at finding the answer at that position.

Now, watch they try to play with him.

I said, watch they try to play with him, and he ends up being the answer that they didn't even know they had.

Watch,

I guarantee you.

And if I'm wrong, I put my foot in my mouth.

If I'm wrong.

Well, the thing is, he might be the answer, Ocho.

And that was not even the test that they gave him.

That's the problem that they're up against.

Wait a minute, man.

Man, bring that back one more time.

That's it.

You said he could be the answer.

Yes, he might, he could well be the answer, and that's not the test that they gave him.

Hey, what are you preaching tonight, boy?

God,

what's for you?

What's for you?

What's for you is for you.

Can't nobody stop it.

If it's meant to be, it's meant to be.

And God is God in good and in bad.

And we just got it.

We just understand that.

We accept that.

But

yeah.

He has a lot going on.

Don't think his mind is not, hey, it's possible.

You know how close he is with his dad, his dad dealing with what he's dealing with.

But his dad says, hey, you have that.

I got this.

You have that up there in Cleveland.

You let me take care of this down here in Boulder.

Hey.

Make the Browns great again.

MBGA.

Yeah.

Yeah.

MBGA.

Make the Browns great again.

What do you think makes the perfect snack?

Hmm.

It's gotta be when I'm really craving it and it's convenient.

Could you be more specific?

When it's cravenient.

Okay.

Like a freshly baked cookie made with real butter, available right now in the street at AM PM, or a savory breakfast sandwich I can grab in just a second at a p.m i'm seeing a pattern here well yeah we're talking about what i crave which is anything from a.m p.m what more could you want stop by a mpm where the snacks and drinks are perfectly cravable and convenient that's cravenience amp too much good stuff I'm Jake Hofer and this is Back 40, a limited series show on Wire to Hunt, part of Meat Eaters Podcast Network.

Each episode, I'll be asking eight wide-tail hunting pros a focused, thought-provoking question about hunting and land management.

How do I hunt the best part of the farm with less than ideal access?

Should you?

That's what the real question is.

Stand without good access is not a good stand.
