The Chargers take down the Kansas City Chiefs by the score of 27-21.
This is the reason what you saw tonight is that why Justin Herbert is held in such high regards.
25 of 34, 3-18, three touchdowns, and the game ceiling drive in which he took off and run after Chris Jones.
And we saw the two guys getting it on the sideline.
Tranquil said, that's not your responsibility.
You got outside rush.
You tried to cross the guy's face.
You got washed down when you know there's nobody, there's no support over there.
That's why he was going at Chris Jones.
That is not your responsibility to go inside.
If that guy starts up the middle and then gets outside, ain't nothing you can do, CJ.
But that's why he and Train Kua was getting it on the side line on the sideline.
He's like, do your job.
That's not your job.
Do your job.
But the Chiefs go on the road in Brazil and they won a ball game 27-21.
It's been a long time since the Chiefs have lost a one-score game.
But Ocho, I saw some things tonight that I don't like about what I'm seeing with the Chiefs.
Offensively, I think they'll be okay.
They need to be able to run the football better.
I mean, they got, I mean, they can't run the football.
Those scrambles by Mahomes, come on, I can't count on Mahomes to give me 57 yards rushing the game with yo.
But watching this game, looking at the Chargers, they did win.
They took down the three-time defending AFC champs and they did it in fine fashion.
What did you like about what you saw from the Chargers?
Listen, the first thing about the Chargers that I did like, I like what Justin Herbert did.
Listen, the game was a little sloppy in the beginning, but as the game went on, the Chargers offense played extremely well again another thing my favorite receiver one of my favorite receivers in the nfl is ladarius mcconkey ladarius mcconkey look extremely well he's picking up exactly where he left off last year yes the addition of keen allen and quentin johnston if we can get if we can get quentin johnson to be a little bit more consistent on and catching catching the ball and try to eliminate some of the drops that he had last year, they are going to be all right because that defense, they was flying all over the place.
They made some great plays.
Derwin James with Derwin James.
Khalil Mack also contributed
in some important areas as well on certain down and distances.
And they look good.
I thought the Chiefs had an opportunity to come back.
I actually thought they were going to come back when they decided to go towards the end of the game and chose to allow Spags and that defense to take over from there.
But
it was a sloppy first half, but that's really good.
I'm watching,
I don't know what Kelsey was thinking on that drive route.
He watches,
what's Derwin James?
He does this.
Well, a DB, I see a DB does that.
He's telling me it's man coverage.
He's telling me they're locking it.
Yeah.
He tells me he does this.
And that's why Mahomes' like, what are you doing?
And he knew it at the end.
It's like, bro, you got to keep going.
That's what you call a drive, a shallow cross, but whatever the case may be.
He's in man coverage.
All they got to do, if he keeps running, the ball's going to hit him on the hands.
He turns up.
It's a touchdown.
Now, look, we don't know.
I mean, now possibly maybe they're on-sided.
They got their timeouts.
Maybe they do what they did.
But if Chris Jones takes that same angle, we're going to get the same result.
We'll never know.
But there were some mistakes that were made that you can't have.
I mean, the first player of the game, you got two guys running.
You got two guys running crossing route.
And somehow Kelsey picks his own guy and looks like he separated his shoulder or sprains his shoulder.
I'm like, damn, how many times have you, oh, Joe, how many times have you run crossing route?
I've never, in 14 years of running crossing routes, I've run the shallow cross, run the drive, where I'm trying, I'm the picker, and sometimes they're picking for me.
I've never collided with my own guy.
I mean, listen, it's all about understanding.
It's all about spacing, knowing where your depth is supposed to be.
And if you have somebody pressing you, which I think, which might have been the problem, whoever was pressing either threw Kelsey off his route, either threw Kelsey off his line.
which is why they ran into other, but also if it's man to man, you got to have your eyeline.
You got to have your eyeline up in front to see what's in front of you anyway.
So, I'm not sure.
I'm not sure how that happened.
Oh, Joe.
Plus, the fact is, it's already understood.
One of you are high, the other is low.
One of you guys is three to five, the other guy, five to seven.
I don't know who's supposed to be high.
I don't know who's supposed to be low.
You can see Xavier Worthy was low.
So, that means Kelsey was supposed to be five to seven.
I don't get it.
I don't know.
I don't, and like I said, I'm like, damn, God,
that's probably a precursor of things to come because, hold on, Ocho.
Now, how many times?
That's the first 15.
We done talked about that.
We had that and walkthrough.
We discussed it last night
before the game.
Hey, we talked about it.
Hey, everybody liked these plays coming out.
And damn, the first third down, this is what we get.
And you know what?
That's the funny thing.
When you talk about X and the no's on, the way it's written on paper and coaches wanted to look a certain way, but they don't take into account.
When you have a defense out there, you have a person pushing and tugging you, certain things have to adjust.
So Kelsey, if anything, if you got a man playing you, playing you man to man, go an extra yard.
Maybe go two and that doesn't happen.
Hey, press me and I'm supposed to be the low guy.
I run in the line of scrimmage.
I'll be behind the line of scrimmage.
Hey, the line will pick your ass off.
Oh,
Joe,
I'm not finna collide with my own guy.
I run it.
They're like, well, damn, they were like, damn, you should have just took the the ball out of John's hand.
I'm like, well, hey,
hey, he was fighting, pushing, tugging.
And
I'm not going to let him throw the timing of the route off
by pressing me and causing me to either get to gain depth.
No, I already know I'm the low guy.
And so it might be a situation.
Look, I'm the low guy.
Yeah.
And I got a pick for the high guy.
Yes, sir.
Okay, it is what it is.
But the timing must be the timing, Ocho.
But I'm not going to run into my own guy.
That's what I'm not going to do.
I'm not running into my own guy.
Now, I might run into the other guy and they call me for an illegal pick, but I'm not picking my own damn guy.
And hold on, not only did you pick him, he got hurt.
And
as soon as you got hurt, obviously, when you're running that crosser like that, Unc, and you're looking back at the quarterback, your body's relaxed.
Yes.
Your body's relaxed.
So anything that hits, especially that shoulder.
The first thing I said, yeah, that's either a grade two or grade three AC sprain right away.
When he didn't come back in the game, because
oh, you, you good.
Grade one, you coming back in the game.
But he missed the whole game after that.
I said it got to be grade two orcho.
How much shoulder strength do you think he got?
He'll buck 60.
So think about that, Ocho.
He weighs 160 pounds.
Yes, sir.
He ain't got no shoulder gut.
And it doesn't take a whole lot to mess a shoulder up anyway, especially when you don't have the muscle development in that area.
Yeah, especially when you're not looking and your body
relaxed and just something hits you like that.
You ain't, because you don't get a chance to tense up.
Yes, bingo, bingo.
So a lot of times, if we know, oh, we're going across the middle, we're going to catch a pass.
Yeah, I get a chance to brace.
But when I'm catching the pass and I relax,
and I got smack, it hurts that much more.
Hell yeah, it hurts.
People need to understand when they see certain hits like that, when you know it's coming, you're able to brace, it doesn't hurt.
No matter what, like it's the ones you don't see coming.
Yes, ready for it that get you the worst.
Yeah, I just look, they got up to a bad start.
Hollywood Brown had an opportunity to get a first down on the second, and he dropped it.
Yeah.
I don't, oh Cho.
You talk about
on the second drive of the game.
The stop route.
Well, the defense.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
He took his ass off the ball.
He's trying to get up out of there before he.
Oh, Cho.
I really prided myself understanding how the game was going.
Okay, the first drive, Ocho, we got off the field in three plays.
Yes, sir.
The last thing I want to do is do no three and a half.
So I might just catch the ball and just drop because the most important thing thing is to stay on the field so we can get timing as an offense.
Guys don't understand.
They still try, oh, let me bail up out of here.
Well, now you just went two three and outs.
And now you guess what?
You're going to be further out of rhythm because it's going to be longer before you get back on the field.
Guys need to understand.
I saw Thornton.
He's running.
He's going to try.
Look.
Understand the angle at which the guy's coming down.
If he's coming down on an eight, he ain't chasing you like this.
He's coming down at an angle like that.
So if you try to cut back, he hits you, even though you're right there at the sticks.
Your momentum you got no momentum to go forward you're gonna go backwards i'm like guys dude y'all y'all don't think y'all guys don't guys don't really think no more i ain't ain't no way you're thinking like you got to understand the angle in which he's coming if i get it oh joe he's coming like this
i stop cut back go behind you but when he's coming down
you stop you got no momentum his momentum is going to hit you and push you backwards every every time if anything especially in that situation you got to know as a receiver or a tight end, anybody catching the ball in that situation, it's third down.
Yes.
It's third down.
You just catch that and turn straight up field.
I'm talking about right away.
Let's play another down instead of allowing it to be four down and it being a 50-50 chance on whether y'all get it or not to keep that drive going.
I think the thing is sometimes, Ocho, is that
guys that they don't really think about that.
Every play is not meant to be a big play.
Every play is not meant to be a touchdown.
You have to understand momentum.
You have to understand where you are in the game, time of the game, what's it been like.
Because there are a lot of times that maybe, because sometimes you got to do stuff suddenly to get up out of there.
Suddenly means
taking your eyes off the ball and trying to locate the guy.
Because a lot of times, I mean, I mean, I've seen myself, I'm doing this, Ocho.
I'm, hey, the ball should be right there.
And I'm seeing where everybody's coming because I want to do something.
Yeah.
Well, you can't do anything without the ball no not not at all but not and it was things like that but ocho they're gonna have to run they're gonna have kansas city is gonna have to do more of a concerted effort to run the football i got a question i'm glad you just said that when you think about the kansas city chiefs right as
pacheco has been in the past when did the chiefs actually ever had a running game though When have you actually watched the Chiefs play and been like, you know what?
We got to worry about the running game.
You remember when they had Kareem Hunt?
That's different.
Oh, before he left, the first first time yes
yes but you you know who else they had but the chief used to have a night with the well they hadn't had so much of a running game um um um with andy because i don't think i don't think jamal charles was there with andy i don't think i think jamal charles was there
i have i don't remember but they got to run the football they they they gotta they they put a lot of pressure and uh uh um And the thing was, tonight, defensively, they couldn't get pressure on Herbert unless they blitzed.
Tranquil got him twice.
Colophthas got him early in the game when he tried to climb up in the pocket and
Colophtas fell back inside and got him.
But they couldn't get pressure generating four.
So now, and it seems like when they bring pressure, it's like, guys,
Nick, is it Hicks?
What number?
27.
Is it Hicks?
Hold on.
Because I know he made a bunch of, yeah, Hicks.
Bro,
bro,
you got to be better.
Yeah, you got to be better
You got to be better the guy is streaming at you you got no you got no no no help to the seven and you turn like he's gonna run a post and Johnson crosses your face

That was my other big takeaway from that game.
What was that?
Looks like something that should not be sold.
Oh, my.
So that was my other big Colts takeaway.
They sold that?
Yes.
Might want to go back to the Paul.
At the Colts Stadium.
Yeah, I might want to go back to the drawing board on that.
Yeah.

Hey, hey, Unc, it's scary on that island like that.
You know that, huh?
It's scary on that island.
You know, the first, most of the time when you're in a situation like that you're going for the first move you're going for the first move because you you got to understand the speed of the game us watching is different out there actually playing it and you ain't got no help
so whatever whatever you see first you're getting up out of there
you're getting up out of there right away the thing is
if he ran if he did something different right
on tape
okay so what is he showing us on tape because that's all i can base it on ocho right that's all i can base it on they give us something different i'm going to come to the sideline coach this is what they did i know what we practiced i know what we went over i know what they show this is what they showed us on tape this is what we said we were going to do against them on tape this is what they're doing right okay fine
so that's what we're going to have that's what we don't know ojo we don't know but
they run the inside because all it so they run they run the high they run the high low so basically you got mcconkey he studied he gets to the flat right now now uh uh keenan allen he goes to the high seven yep one of two things gonna have to happen either you're gonna have to pass that off by mcduffy right retreating because he's up on lab mcconkey yeah because that's all i'm trying to do i'm just trying to hold i'm just trying to hold the outside guy because
You got me and you playing inside leverage.
So you got you got you cannot stop the seven route You cannot stop the flag You can't because you're playing inside leverage So you've already given me the outside.
The only way you can stop it, the only way you stop that route, oh Joe, is that McDuffie falls off?
Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But then, and then, I've herbs.
And then, I'm gonna throw the ball, I'm gonna throw the ball.
So, you gotta, you got to really time.
You gotta say, you know what?
I believe he's gonna throw this seven ball, and I just fall right now.
But if he throws it, if he throws it to the flat, right, that's gonna be a first down, or, or, or, if anything, I mean, I'm just saying, obviously, I don't play DB, and obviously, you have to stay within the scheme of the way
he does things.
What I would do, I would communicate.
I would communicate before when I see that, when I see that tendency, when I see that formation, I know what they are and I know what's coming.
We got that post and we got that flat coming right.
I'm going to tell the safety, man, listen, I'm from the gem lab right now.
The seven coming behind me, go ahead and cheat it.
Go ahead.
Go ahead.
You know what I'm passing off, Ocho.
Say, this is how we're going to do it.
Yeah.
Higgs, you take the flat.
I'm going to save.
Now, I got to safety in the hole because if he runs the post, the safety is there.
Yeah.
The only thing that I'm weak against is the backside pot, the back pylon.
Yeah.
So now McDuffie is going to have to retreat right away.
And now Hicks got to go to the flat right now.
He's got to go.
He's got to take the flat right now.
Right now.
Yeah.
He got to come down.
Right now.
That is the only way you can stop that route because you got two.
One's running like a little stick, what they call a stick route, and the other is running a seven route or sell route.
You can't stop it.
Because if you play a man, he's he's gonna like and McCarthy is gonna occupy McDuffie right away.
Hicks is playing inside leverage, so anything that I run to the outside,
I'm free and clear.
You can't stop it.
The funny thing about it is you can't stop it, but I'm thinking, and knowing it's coming as a safety.
I don't even know if he has the freedom to do this because when they turn that film on, they're gonna want you inside leverage.
Yes.
At what, what, nine, what, maybe nine to ten?
The safety, yeah,
Well, safety,
it looked like it was man coverage.
So they probably just had single high safety.
So he's in the hole.
Oh, down.
Yeah.
No, no, no.
He's in the hole.
He's looking for, you know,
maybe, maybe, maybe if it's a crosser route, he's going to jump it.
But he's in the hole.
There's really nothing he can do.
Right.
So now, because Hicks is playing on, he's playing inside leverage, because you know why, Ocho?
I got to worry about the shallow cross.
Right.
If you rub the,
if I jump outside, he rubs the shallow cross.
I'm dead.
I'm in ish for shape.
Yes.
Yeah.
I'm dead.
So now I'm inside leverage.
Now I'm worried.
I ain't worried about him beating me across my face.
But what I've done is that I've given him a free release to the back pylon.
Yeah.
And hey, listen, that's unfortunate.
That's unfortunate because obviously what you're doing is you're giving them one get a one-way go.
You're trying to stay the inside, but now you're vulnerable to the outside.
Correct.
Vulnerable.
And if he, if he sticks you to the inside, you're really done because you're going to go for the first move.
Correct.
Yep.
So, you know, give them credit, but I thought the Chargers played really well.
They're going to be tough.
Herbert threw the ball extremely well tonight.
We look,
he has physical twos.
A big kid, 6'5 ⁇ ,
240, mobile.
He's mobile.
You see the athleticism.
I mean, he's shown the athleticism.
We watched him in the, what's that, the Rose Bowl, I think his final year.
And he did what he did.
i didn't know he had that kind of athleticism and he doesn't show it a whole lot but he got better he's he's above he's an above average athlete so which tells me he got he can get out of harm's way if he needs to we know the arm that we know the arm talent yeah we
we can't deny that you can say he ain't won nothing but we can't deny the arm talent and the thing is oh cho there are two things that play here two things can be true you could be a generational talent right and not a generational player You could be a generational player without generational talent.
See, I think sometimes you like, you got to have both.
No, you don't.
No, you don't.
No, you don't.
Yeah, I like that.
And Brady
and Manning might not be generational talents,
but you can't argue they're generational players.
Right.
Right.
So.
The things that we can see, what we measure, Ocho, man, look at his arm strength.
Man, look how big he is.
Man, look how fast he is, Ocho.
Look how athletic he is.
Okay, Okay, those are things that we can see.
But we've seen guys that had tremendous God-gifted ability, yes, sir,
not turn out to be generational players, right?
Or not be even good players or great players.
So, two things can be true: you can be a generational talent and not a generational player.
You could be a generational player without generational talent.
Right,
and uh, but you look at
build a quarterback,
You're going to look at,
golly,
the dude 6'4, 6'5, 235, 240.
Yeah.
Bro, he can throw the, bro, he throw the out.
He throwed the dig, he throw the comeback.
He can throw the over.
He can throw the seven.
He can throw the bang.
Oh, he can throw the shake.
He can throw the.
Hold on.
He can get out of harm's way.
He can throw the ball on the move.
Yeah.
Left, right.
Oh, my goodness.
What is there not to like about it?
Right.
So.
Listen, what we saw from Herbert the Night Dunk is what we've seen since he's gotten in the league.
The problem with him, he puts up big numbers.
Touchdowns, yards, he does that.
The problem is the turnovers and decision making when it matters most.
And
that's when we get to playoffs.
But that's, he needs to do this.
in a playoff game.
And that's the hard part because the playoffs nothing like a week one.
It's nothing like a week one that's the that's the difference it is different it all when there is finality because guess what whoever lost this game guess what ocho they got 16 more whoever won this game they got 16 more but come playoff time it ain't the best of five it's not the best of seven
Every game in the NFL is a game seven.
So if you think game seven or the NBA final or the NBA playoffs or the MLB playoffs or hockey playoffs, you think that's something?
That's what an NFL player goes through every playoff game it is a game seven yeah
there is no tomorrow yeah it's only and it's only you know it's funny it's only three game sevens too it's only three game sevens to the big dance unless you got a week one
yeah
um
it's uh it's uh
it was like i said ocho i i
I kind of wanted Kansas City to score to see how they were going to play it.
Maybe they do the same thing, Ocho.
Maybe they kick the ball deep.
They got their timeout.
They got a a two-minute warning.
They try to hold him.
Maybe they own something.
We won't ever know because, you know, they didn't get an opportunity.
Defense didn't get off the field.
But I think
the Chargers deserve credit.
I thought Mahomes, once he got it going, I mean, he had to be.
I mean, come on, Ocho.
The man's parallel to the guy, and he throws it over his head and Juju catches it.
I mean, when you go back and look at it, Ocho, think about it.
Juju.
The Steelers moved on.
Yeah.
The Cheat,
the Patriots moved on.
Taequan Thornton ran 4-2 at the combine.
The Patriots says, nah.
Kareem Hunt is a comeback, came back.
Hollywood Brown,
the Ravens traded him.
The Cardinals said, nah, we're good.
I mean, think about it.
It's hard, Ocho, to keep winning with cast offs.
And look, and they're okay players, players, but
it is what it is, Ocho.
Somebody said, you know what, we good.
We're better without you.
Listen,
you also have to understand there's always somebody else coming behind you that wants your job.
There are also other people that come behind you that take your job where they fit the system better.
They just fit the system better.
So for Mahomes, Mahomes is a tier one quarterback.
He's one where the people around him don't matter.
I view Patrick Mahomes the same way I view Tom Brady when he was with the New England Patriots.
The pieces to the puzzle with the Patriots offensively, they changed differently every year.
Every year, there was somebody else plug in and play, plug in and play, but nothing changed.
They remain consistent offensively.
Why?
Because that centerpiece, that one piece that matters.
That was 12.
So I really view the Kansas City Chiefs that way.
Tyreek Hill is gone.
Since Tyreek Hill, it's been a multitude of different players, different receivers, and they haven't missed a beat.
They haven't missed a beat.
And even though they didn't play up the par tonight in week one, Andy Reed is going to figure it out.
I'm more concerned with the defense.
You think so?
Already?
Spagho Haddon Boys on point.
Because Ocho, they couldn't get pressure.
Without bringing pressure, they couldn't get pressure.
And now, now, if I bring pressure, what must I do?
I must sacrifice my back end because that's what single high.
Somewhere, somewhere on the back end.
I got to sacrifice something, Ocho.
Right.
If I make X amount of dollars, something's not gonna get paid this month.
Yeah, I'm just saying, Ocho, what's not gonna get paid?
Hey,
the cell phone bill,
the cable bill, light bill, gas bill, but something because I only have X amount of dollars.
I only have so much money to stretch.
I can only stretch it so far.
Right.
So, as my grandma said, I'll send you a little piece of something, son.
Hey, that's all I got.
I like CJ more on the inside, at the shade, as I do on the outside.
Because he doesn't have an advantage out there.
His quickness,
he's extremely quick for a guard, but he's not quick for an end.
So
he doesn't gain an advantage.
There are some guys that he might be able to beat, but
when he's in that shade, when he's in that under, he's at three tech,
that's why I like CJ.
I think, you know what,
I like that he does do it because you can never know where he's going to be.
You have to account for him.
You have to account for him.
And it's confusing to the offensive lineman because you always have to, when you come to the line before the snap, you always got to see where is 95 at?
Let's identify 95.
I think that's why you move him so much because he's able to do so much more and he doesn't have to deal with that double team all the damn time.
Well,
i like it more in a five or or a seven as opposed to a nine now they want him to get him wide because they want to get him on the edges right and they don't want to chip but he doesn't
if he's play if he's playing against like alt did a great job of neutralizing but you got to realize those guys out there are really athletic yeah very advantage that you have is that when you don't have the athleticism they normally bump you down inside to the guard right those tackles are really athletic those are guys that were tight ends or that played a lot of other positions right right right when when When they were smaller, they weren't always that size.
And they probably played, maybe they were a tight end, or maybe they were, you know,
a basketball player at one point in time that just grew out of that.
But
I think Kansas City's offense is going to be fine.
I'm sure Andy will find a way to get up out of this.
But the AFC West has gotten better.
Denver is better.
The Chargers are better.
We'll see what the rate is going to be.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Slow down, slow down, slow down.
You don't know if the Broncos have gotten better because they haven't played week one yet.
The Broncos have gotten better.
It's hard for me to see a scenario based on
Sean Payton.
Yes.
Sean Payton quarterbacks don't normally regress.
Right.
They don't.
Now, it could happen, have a side, but he's not a guy that's going to let you regress because he's going to ride you.
Sean Payton is an old school guy.
He learned on the parcels.
Yeah.
And they ride you.
I have a question.
Yes.
Who do the Denver Broncos play week one?
The Titans?
Yeah.
Yeah, they played the Titans
in Mile High.
Hey, boy, I don't know.
Calvin Ridley and Cam Ward.
Calvin Ridley and Cam Ward.
It's hard to throw the ball when you're on your back.
The Broncos led the league in sacks last year.
Wait, what year was that?
Last year.
Yes, 2025 dog but see but you told me cap you say you said new england you told me affiliate had nothing to worry about same personnel that what you told me well actually i said defensively they had something to worry about because they let slag go they let slago and they let uh i forgot the young bull that played defensively what about what about the guy that was calling the plays
oh that hey that's right hey
hey um
I guarantee you, I don't know who the Eagles play next.
Oh, they play the Chiefs.
Yes.
I guarantee the first 15, you know, the first 15 plays are scripted?
Yeah.
I guarantee you, three of those plays are specifically for A.J.
Brown.
I guarantee you the first play going right to him.
That's ridiculous.
Even though they won the game.
Even though they won the game, you can't do your star player like that.
You can.
You just can't.
I'm looking at Justin Herbert and they're like, okay, we can throw the ball.
Yeah.
I mean, A.J.
Brown is better than Quentin Johnson.
Let me tell you why they can throw the ball as well.
Did you see Omarion Hampton?
Yeah.
You see,
okay.
Rookie.
I mean, look, look, he not, look, they ran the ball 25 times for 90 yards.
That's nothing.
Look.
I mean, that's less than four yards of carry.
Yeah, but that's a good balance.
That's a good balance, though.
It's a good balance.
But here's the thing, Ocho.
If you can't pressure without, if you couldn't get pressure with the Chargers' offensive line, line, what makes you think you'll get pressure with the Eagles' offensive line?
They got the two number one rated tackles in football.
Yeah, you're right.
Now,
you bring pressure,
you open up your back end.
I think their back end is weak.
I don't think the Kansas City Chiefs secondary is like, oh, my God, we can't do it.
Hey, hold on.
But obviously.
The Kansas City secondary normally play two shell in cover two or 55.
One or the other.
Right.
So everything has everything.
Most of the time, your success, it's going to have to come from the run game and force them to drop a safety down, which
they had to do when they played the Eagles in the Super Bowl to make sure Saquon Barkley is not beating us.
They did something they don't normally do.
Outside of that, two-shell, bump and run on the outside, throw off the timer, and whoever's in the slot or number three or tight end, you got the win.
Yeah.
You got the win because that's what a one-on-one is.
So
it's going to be interesting to see.
you know that's a big game next week obviously uh uh chiefs i mean when was the last time the chiefs started 0-2
i don't think they started 0-2 in the mahomes era
no
probably not absolutely not
that that's going to be a good game no that's going to be a very very good game rematch of the super bowl that's going to be a nice one
they hadn't lost two they hadn't started the season 0-2 since 2014.
Oh, Joe, the Kansas City Chiefs entered tonight with an incredible 17-game win streak in one score games regular season and postseason.
That streak dating back to Christmas Day 2023 against the Raiders is now over.
Look, when you have that guy, you have a chance.
That's how you feel when you have a...
legendary great quarterback.
When you had a Brady, you have a Mahomes, you have a Peyton Manning, you have a Brees or Montana or John L.
Where you always feel if we can keep it close, they'll make a play in the end that'll win the game for us.
We trust them.
We just need to keep it close.
We need to get it close or keep it close, whatever the case may be, and then they'll make a play for us.
Give them credit, and that's what happens when you have a, because a lot of things need to go right for you.
Defense needs to get the ball back for you.
So three and out, take the ball away, and then Mahomes and that offense need to do what they've done 17 times before tonight, which is find a way to get in field field goal range or to win the game with a touchdown
so
i just that's a long way to return home after uh l
yeah it is
it is
either way for us for for the fans for the football fans for me uh i'm not sure if you enjoyed it but i enjoyed it i enjoyed the game now the first half was a little sloppy a little flash just a little play here a little play there but i i i enjoyed that second half i really really really really like lad mcconkey excuse me ladarius mcconkey i really um
and considering justin herbert in last year's playoff game he had four interceptions he couldn't pick a better way to start the season a three eight a 300 and three td game
um
look
there's no question this is our talent um he has above average
athleticism the only thing is okay come playoff time bro we we need something like this right yeah
I'm not saying you got to give us
three and three, 300 yards pass and three touchdowns, but you can't give us four INTs either.
Yeah.
There ain't a whole lot of defenses that could overcome that kind of poor performance from their quarterback.
Go ahead, Ocho.
You want to say something?
I said, one thing they're going to do is they're going to drop back and throw that ball.
They're going to drop back and throw that ball over there.

Ocho,
this game, look, look, the Baltimore Ravens, Derrick Henry, I don't know what it is about the Buffalo Bills, but he loves playing this team.
We remember last year in Baltimore, he ran for 199.
Even in the playoff game, they lost.
He only had 16 rushes for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Tonight,
he had 18 rushes, 169, and two touchdowns, but he had a very, very costly fumble.
Lamar Jackson was sensational again.
14 of 19, two touchdowns,
210 yards, two touchdowns, but it was that six foot five, 255 pound mountain of a man.
Yeah.
Josh Allen.
Yes.
33 of 46, 394, two touchdowns.
He ran the ball 14 times for 30 yards.
He had two touchdowns, but it was his ability to throw the football.
Sometimes you got to be lucky rather than good.
On fourth down, the tight end tips the ball.
Keon Coleman catches it.
That's the difference in the ball game.
And then they come right back and they get a punch out on Derrick Henry.
Well, they got the punch out first and then they do a great job of going three and out, forcing the Ravens to punch the football.
Well, three and out and forcing the Ravens to punch the football.
Ocho, you're watching this game and it seems like the Ravens have it in hand.
They're doing what they're running the football.
Yeah.
They're play action pass.
They're doing everything.
D-Hop catching it with one hand.
They're in the locker room.
They're upset because they know they had this one and they let this one slip away.
What did you like about what you saw from the Buffalo Bills not to stop fighting down 15 and the opposing team has the ball?
Listen, the fact they were able to come back, this is one of the reasons why, even though I, even though I debunk it, you know, that
I mean, talk about it.
Lamar should have been the
I always say Lamar should have been the MVP last year.
This is why Josh Allen won it.
You're down by 15.
Some things have to go right, huh?
The game is
50% execution and 50% luck.
Some things have to go in your favor, and they did for the Buffalo Bills tonight.
The fact that they continued to fight, the fact that Josh Allen was able to come back and make some throws that only Josh Allen can make
when they were behind, to come from behind and have an opportunity to win this game is unbelievable.
They played really well.
The Ravens look good.
They lost the game, but the Ravens look very, very good.
They look good.
Any other team, this is a blowout, huh?
Any other team the Ravens are playing outside the Buffalo Bills, this is a blowout game.
Now, common sense isn't always common.
In the middle of this game, about an hour and 30 minutes ago, I don't know if Ash was able to put it up.
I tweeted out something.
I tweeted out something.
I said, the Ravens look good, but it's a lot of game.
It's a lot of, there it is right there.
I don't care if you can see it.
The Ravens look good, but it's a lot of game left.
And for some reason, what should be a blowout normally ends closer than you could think.
And that's exactly what happened.
Not only did it end closer than I would think, I didn't think they would come back and win it.
They came back and won the whole damn game.
I knew it would be close, but win it.
I man, listen, the football gods won Buffalo side.
Obviously, this costly fumble, which the Ravens always happen to do at the most opportune times.
Inopportune.
Inopportune time.
My bad, my bad, my bad.
But listen, this is this is this is a testament to how you ended the season last year.
Yep.
A game of this magnitude having a costly turnover yet again.
Yep.
the ravens offense looked good their defense they didn't get no pressure yeah can't get pressure with four and their secondary isn't good now i don't know what's going on with jai alexander ocho but he looked bad tonight let's call it like let's call it like we see it ocho now this is what we do yeah he did not look good tonight and they were saying he had issues going on with his leg with his knee i don't know if he had a drain i don't know if it's bone on bone i don't know if he has tendinitis but he didn't look good tonight yeah he did not look good wiggins he may broke up the play on the two-point conversion, but pass interference, bro.
You got to do better.
You got to do a better job of defending the guy without interfering with the guy.
But the biggest issue I see with them is they can't generate pressure.
Yeah.
They can't get pressure with four.
If Mattel Beque didn't get home, don't get home.
I mean, tonight, it just wasn't.
I mean, look, Buffalo is a good team.
And so
I'm not going to diminish what Buffalo did.
Buffalo did a great job of staying in this ball game.
But I thought, I was like, well, damn, okay.
They get the ball back and
give Ed Oliver credit because he got him stopped.
He said, well, I got you stopped.
Let me see if I can get the ball out.
And he pulled a slot and he got four.
He got three sevens and the ball came out.
Give Buffalo credit, but the Ravens are going to kick themselves.
John Harbaugh says, hey, guys, I'm proud of you guys.
You fought hard.
But he knows they let this one slip away.
And it's on the defensive side of the football.
They got to be better because everybody that they look, everybody doesn't have a Josh Allen that can kill you with his legs and his arms.
But these quarterbacks in the AFC can light your ass up with their arms.
Josh Allen had 394.
Yes.
394.
He had 46 pass attempts, Ocho, with one sack.
That's crazy.
Lamar Jackson had 19 pass attempts, and he got sacked twice.
And it took him a Houdini effort to get out of one.
One, yeah.
Yeah.
So I'm concerned with the the Ravens' defense.
I have no concerns whatsoever with their offense.
I know Derrick Henry would do a better job of holding on to the football.
Lamar Jackson is going to be Lamar Jackson.
I love Zay Flowers.
I wish they could have worked.
No, no, a Bateman.
I wish they could have.
Look, D-Hop, D-Hop's going to give you a couple of contest catch, a couple of contested catches.
That's what he's going to do, Ocho.
We're not looking to get DeAndre Hopkins of Houston, Texas, DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals, because he's not there anymore.
He doesn't live at that place anymore, Ocho.
And it's okay to say that.
I wish they could have got Rashawn Bateman involved a little bit more.
Zay Flowers was sensational tonight.
Sam for a buck 43 and one touchdown on nine targets.
I wish they could have got Bateman a little bit more involved.
D.
Hopk's going to give you one to two catches.
That's all we can hope for.
They're going to be contested.
That's what they brought him in there for.
Defensively.
is where they're going to have to where they're going to have to improve, Ocho.
They're going to have to find a way to generate pressure with four because they're back in yeah
they're back in those corners yeah
hey i i think if if if anything i think more so they played a bad game i mean the back end has always been good nate wiggins was good last year marlon humphrey is always good marlon humphrey if we can get jair alexander who's coming off an injury obviously he like who's coming off an injury to get himself back acclimated you know hey did he did jaire even play in the preseason i don't know i don't think so i don't think so so i don't think a whole lot of people played in the preseason Exactly.
So he gets himself back acclimated after coming off injury, not really playing much last year, getting himself back into rhythm, getting himself back into actually football shape.
Yeah.
But in the process, Ocho here.
Ocho here, the thing.
I can't be losing game while you're working your way back in the football game.
So obviously what they have to do, they got to protect him, huh?
They got to protect him.
If anything,
listen, put him in press.
He's very good at man to man.
He's Jair Alexander.
That's what he's known for.
He's very good at man and man.
And don't expose him.
Don't have him playing off at seven yards when you know he's not where he needs to be.
Get him up there.
Allow him to throw the time and the offense off until he gets himself back right.
Yeah,
I was just, and I was like, damn,
Ravens normally
get a little bit more pressure than that.
And
what's the guy?
What's his name?
Kyle Van Oi.
I was like, come on, Kyle.
Somebody get some pressure.
Hey, them big boys, hey, Buffalo got them big boys.
Hey, they did a good, look, they neutralized it.
They look, and they made them one dimensional.
Once they fell behind,
they're not going to run the football.
The Ravens, they had 31 rush attempts, 108 yards.
You can live with that.
That's less than four yards of carry.
That's three and a half yards of carry.
I can live with that.
But what I can't live with is a quarterback drop back 46 times.
They'll only get him on the ground once.
That's not good enough.
That's not, that's not, no, seriously, that's not nearly good enough.
They played well enough to win, but all turnovers aren't created equal.
When you turn the ball over, Jerry Henry has that fumble in the first quarter.
It's no harm, no foul, Ocho.
But when he had that,
we've got the momentum.
Now we give Buffalo a chance to get the momentum, get some momentum, and now they start hooping and hollering like they caught the Holy Ghost on fourth Sunday.
And now the crowds now crowded into it, oh choice.
It's going to be a good one.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
What Sunday?
Fourth Sunday.
But give, look,
they could have easily, easily
hung their heads, folded.
Yes, we're down 15 and the Ravens, we know what the Ravens possess.
Derrick Henry is running up and down the field, up and down the field.
I mean, he's getting four.
He's getting 15.
He's getting 30.
He's getting 51.
I was like, well, damn.
What is it about the Buffalo Bills that Derrick Henry loves so much?
It's not even the Buffalo Bills.
It's whoever the hell Derrick Henry plays against.
He's done this against everybody.
I don't know.
Derrick Henry rarely turns the ball over.
Every so often, he's going to get a fumble.
This time, it happened week one when the actors shouldn't.
Coming off of what happened last year and why you went home
for missing a Super Bowl opportunity, there should be no turnovers.
That should be the first thing coming in in preseason, in training camp.
We can't turn the ball over.
And you're playing the same goddamn team again
that cost you
a chance to go to the AFC championship game
ocho but what happened was is that they got him in a prediction they got him he's trying to stiff arm so if you got a stiff arm that means what you ain't got both arms over the ball both arms over the ball so now there's a chance he didn't get past the line of scrimmage there's no he didn't use a stiff arm but no yes they were he got pressure he got pressure and so now he's trying to stiff arm it oliver off of him to try to get to the outside yeah i mean looking at it now ocho just go down yeah but you know that's not how he's wired right you're right you're right you're right you're right i said the same thing when jar hair alexander got beat i said let him score you got three timeouts let him score you got three timeouts you got a minute on the clock let's see what lamar jacks can do with spread right with enough time
once once because baltimore's got to burn their timeouts now And all Baltimore is going to do is go, hey, Prater, they already know the special team coaches already tell the head coach where the kicker likes to kick from.
If you see Josh Allen, hey, he goes to that side, downs the ball.
Goes to that side, downs the ball.
Okay, on third down, he goes to that side again.
There's 27 seconds.
He runs off the field.
You normally can get your offense off the field, your special team unit on the field.
We would always practice 18 seconds.
They got a full 27 seconds.
So now Prady gets an opportunity to go back there and go through his motion.
He's doing all that on the field, Locho.
He got played at time.
He's like, yeah, hey.
I ain't rushing nothing.
This is good right here, baby.
Woo!
Appreciate that.
And go, he nails it through.
You know,
a lot of times you have to have the foresight because a lot of times guys are not thinking in that moment.
Jari Alexander has panicked.
Man, I can't give up a touchdown.
With an actionality, it'd be best if you did give up the touchdown.
Because now you got a minute plus left, and you got all three of your timeouts.
But that's something
they would have talked about before.
That would have been something they would have talked about ahead of time.
Obviously,
I mean, I mean, I'm not, I forgot the D coordinator's name or Harbaugh would have told, but told the defense.
If they happen to make a big play, let them score.
Let him get in.
Obviously, they didn't say anything.
That's why he tried to tackle Keon.
Normally, Ocho, you talk about that close to the goal line.
Right.
You say, okay, hey, just let him score.
You're right.
You're right.
You're not thinking.
First of all, you're not thinking they're going to get a big play.
So once they got the big play, the next thing, you panic, Ocho, it's just like anything.
Steve Irwin.
Right.
When he got stung by that stingray,
his natural instinct was what?
To pull it out.
That was the last thing he should have did.
But see, you're not thinking.
Something goes in.
I got to get it out, Ocho.
Right, right, right.
Right away.
Right away.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
So now he gets a long pass caught on him.
He's not thinking, man, I still, I got three timeout.
My team got three timeouts.
I got Lamar Jackson.
Just let him scope.
You're not thinking about that.
But like you said, those are scenarios that you probably need to go through.
Also go through your mind.
Hey, tip pass.
I mean, one time we play in Kansas City, Ocho, and John threw me a ball.
I lost like eight yards, but it was more important to keep the clock moving as opposed to an incompletion and stopping the clock.
Right.
So if the ball got killed, I'm like, hey, I got to catch this.
Even though it's, hey, now all of a sudden, I only got like 50 yards.
I only got like 50 yards.
But man, this was a hell of a ball game.
Yeah,
this was a hell of a ball game, man.
Listen, there's a reason why they had them slated to play as a 7.30 game or 8:30 game, depending on where you live from, because it was everything that was advertised.
It was everything that was advertised based on what we saw last season, right?
Listen, I actually, all the goddamn games was good today, depending on who you had.
I wouldn't say all of them were good.
I wouldn't say all of them.
I mean, it depends.
It depends.
It depends.
There were some trash games, but
there would be this.
This was perfect to end the night.
Yeah,
this was a very good game.
You got two heavyweight quarterbacks, the last two MVPs going head to head.
Hey, nobody wants to give an inch.
You got Derrick Henry running the ball.
Look like he's well on his way to another 2,000.
Hell, I thought he was going for two bands.
I thought he was going for two bills today.
Yeah, I thought he was going for two bills today.
Because, you know, Ocho, it's just like when we play a receiver, we get that big catch early.
Hey.
Ocho, we got, hey, we get big, we got 70 yards on three catches.
Yeah.
And we're in the first quarter.
Hold on.
And this is the funny thing about it, too.
Forget the first quarter.
When you get those chunk yards and chunk plays and have that many yards at the beginning of the season and week one to get the ball rolling, yes.
Man, stop playing.
You know you're that's how I'm thinking.
And I'm sure Dan Hitler was thinking the same thing.
The offensive line is thinking the same thing.
Oh, we got a great rhythm because all of a sudden they tossing him the ball and he's coming through there and ain't nothing but a safety.
And the safety is taking an effed up angle.
The safety ain't really, he tried to hit it from the angle.
And I was really trying to be in front of you.
I was trapped.
Yeah, that was trapped.
He took that bad angle on purpose.
Of course, yes, of course.
That's what I'm saying.
I'm coming to that angle.
Yes.
And who trying to,
on a toss, everybody locked up, the guard or the guard pull and get the linebacker, and then just you and this.
Who the hell for the hit Derrick Henry?
Mm-hmm.
I'm making a business decision.
Hey, and you see, he already got the concussion cap already on.
He said, I need a pill.
Hey, as a matter of fact, somebody throw me a pillar.
I need a pillar and the concussion cap.
Matter of fact, I can guarantee you.
I can guarantee you.
I'm with everybody that's in the chat that's listening.
Imagine, hypothetically speaking, if you had the opportunity to play safety, I guarantee you, nobody, there's no amount of money that a team could pay anybody in our chat to be a safety and meet Derrick Hearney one-on-one in the hole.
Nah, because they got to hear the steam.
The thing, what you want to do, Ocho, is make him go east and west.
You don't want him to get him shoulder pads coming downhill.
North and north, going north.
No, hell nah.
That's 240, 245.
Nah, hell nah.
He got a head of steam.
I'm trying to get you before you turn those shoulder pads square.
I'm trying to get you going laterally.
As long as I got you going laterally, that's cool.
I'm trying to get you before you can get to the line of scrimmage.
Forget that.
They toss that ball and you see that hole open up.
Okay, here comes the tight end.
He pins somebody.
Here come
the fullback.
He leading up in there and he kicks out.
He turns back on the linebacker.
Nah, hell nah.
I don't want no part of that.
And those are the decisions.
But I think, look,
this was a very good.
This was the best game of the day thus far.
We'll see what Minnesota and Chicago do last night.
It's going to have to be hard pressed to top this one because
you got 4140.
And you got two quarterbacks playing at their absolute best.
Lamar Jackson was sensational.
Josh Allen just so happens to had the ball, had the ball last.
Yes.
Yeah.
And that's what you want to do.
You want to say,
give me the ball.
All I want is the ball in my quarterback's hands with a chance to win the game.
That's all I can ask for.
It doesn't matter if it's Lamar Jackson, if it's Joe Burrow, if it's Patrick Mahomes, if it's Josh Allen.
All you want is that opportunity.
I want my quarterback to have the ball with a chance to win the game.
We need a touchdown.
We need a field goal.
I have the utmost confidence.
Josh Allen has a ton of confidence.
He always has, but now he knows he's an elite company.
He has an MVP.
He has an MVP, but he knows in order to get to that
tier,
take that next step, Ocho.
Yeah.
Can you imagine?
Super Bowl winning MVP, Super Bowl MVP, regular season MVP.
That's when Brady started separating himself.
Now all of a sudden, he got Super Bowl and he got regular season mahom super bowl and regular season rogers
that's what the greats do josh allen was sensational tonight yeah he was he was absolutely phenomenal with a little help with with a little help from the ravens he was sometimes like i gotta have that ocho yes i need that i yeah but here's the thing he got the help how many times have you helped somebody but they didn't help themselves
How many times did we come on here, Ocho, the game was for the taking?
Yeah.
And the team didn't take it.
Right.
If you open the door, remember the movie centers?
Yeah.
In order for the vampires to come in, what you have to do?
You had to offer, you had to ask them to come in.
You had to let them in.
Yes, sir.
How many times have the door been opened and the opportunity for you to come in and know and everybody just stood there?
So the Ravens opened the door and they invited them in.
And Buffalo says, okay.
Yeah, we'll take it.
We come on in your house.
Listen, any other team, I'm trying to think, any other team, if you take the bills out and
the Ravens put up 40 points, there may be maybe one or two teams that I can think of that have the quarterback or have the personnel to actually come back in a game like that.
You're absolutely right.
Maybe two other teams.
That's about it.
Other than that, ain't nobody, nobody else coming back
and doing what we did.
I have a question to, I got a question for you.
I know the magnitude and importance of the game is not as significant as this one was, but does this compare in any way to that 28-3 comeback in that Super Bowl?
I'm not comparing the, I mean, I know it's, I know it's week one, I'm not comparing week one in the Super Bowl.
I mean, just the comeback, it is just as big or bigger.
I mean, 28-3?
Yeah.
I mean, the biggest, at that point in time, the biggest lead it had ever been was like a 10-0 with the comeback from 10-0.
Right.
Or 10, or the Patriots came back from 10-down in the fourth quarter.
They came back from 25.
Well, hey, hold on.
Now they scored 16 points in four minutes.
This ain't mad.
This is real life.
The Bills, the Knights.
Yes.
Yes.
16 points in four minutes.
That's not even, that's video game stuff.
So many things have to go right for you to score 16 points in four minutes.
What went right is that after on first down, Derrick Henry fumbled the ball.
You got a little
time.
So you didn't get the full allotment of time.
They didn't make Buffalo burn any of their timeouts on that possession.
So now, once you get the ball back, now they don't have any timeouts and you can let time run run off the clock on your next possession right
um
but nah josh josh was sensational even give buffalo credit give it credit where it's due uh they earned this with um buffalo i mean excuse me the ravens
you you kicking yourself i know you're kicking yourself but uh
but i mean
The Ravens, I mean, if you were nine minutes more time of possession, Ocho, for the Buffalo, they had 10 more first downs third down efficiency one uh buffalo was seven of 15 baltimore was seven of 11.
uh uh but defensively is where the ravens are gonna have to get better they gave up 500 yards of offense
they gave up 500 yards of offense just because derrick henry fumbled that doesn't mean you have to let them score i'm just that i'm just throwing that at that food for thought yeah just because somebody fumbled you could say you know what y'all can y'all get a field goal you ain't getting no touchdown or you get nothing, or you can take the ball away, you can take it back away.
So, this notion that, oh, you know, Derek hit from, yes, Derrick Henry fumble.
He'll do a better job, he'll have better ball security next time.
And in that situation, sometimes it's just better to go ahead and drop.
Live to see another day.
I had a coach used to tell me all the time, Les Decker, my position coach in the mid-90s, 93 and 94.
He's a sweet, he used to call me sweetheart.
He's a sweetheart, you got to know when the journey's over.
Sometimes, D.
Henry, I understand, you got to know when the journey's over.
It's okay to sometimes to get out of bounds.
It's okay, Ocho, to say, you know what?
Hey,
drop to the ground.
Man, come on.
Nah, nah, in that situation, the only, only bad can come out of that.
Nothing good can come out of that.
That's why you say, well, he shouldn't have stiff arm.
That's what he, I mean, how many times have we seen him use that stiff arm just in this game?
Right.
Remember on that long, that first long touchdown run, what did he do?
Get up off me.
Shove the guy to the ground.
So, in that situation, man, but this was a barn burner.
This was a great game.
Congratulations, Buffalo Bills.
Hard fought victory scored 22 points in the fourth quarter.
Outscored Baltimore 22-6 in the fourth.
And they win the ball game 41-40.
Missed PAT also.
Oh, Joe.
Remember, Baltimore missed the PAT.
It did.
It dug right.
Bounced away.
Now,
a field goal only ties you.
You go into overtime.
So,
but boy,
what a barn burner of a game.
The Broncos spoiled Cam Ward's debut with him by the score of 20 to 12 in a win of the Titans.
Bo Knicks had an off day, throwing a pair of interceptions.
I think he fumbled.
His first fumble loss since he was at Auburn.
He was at Auburn a long ass time.
But anyway, the Knicks defense had his back, half a dozen sacks.
They did a tremendous job.
Defense looked good.
I definitely looked good.
We got after two.
We were swarming.
Yeah.
For the Titans,
we got.
They had some drops in there, too, though.
They never really had a big drop late.
I was just getting ready to tell you,
they got to help Uno out.
Yeah.
You got to catch the ball for your quarterback.
You got to catch the ball for your quarterback to give yourself a chance to win that game.
Be in that game.
Those opportunities that they come, they come
very slim when you're playing a defense as good as the Broncos.
You have to capitalize on every single play.
Yep.
You play because you ain't getting that many.
Cambore was 12 of 28, 112 yards, got sacked six times.
lost 50 yards.
They only had, there were 24, 21 rushes for 71 yards.
But like I said, really had a drop.
They had a couple of jobs that dropped the ball in there.
And you got to make those plays.
Like you said, Ocho, that's a rookie in that situation.
You got to help him out.
And
he didn't get a whole lot of help today.
He did not get a whole lot of help today.
Bo Nicks,
for a second, I thought he had a Titans, you know.
t-shirt up under that Broncos jersey because damn he was trying to help them guys win.
The play
through some horrible interceptions, 25 of 4176, a touchdowns, two interceptions, at a costly fumble.
It was only sacked once.
Broncos ran the ball well, 30, uh, 30 carries for Buck 51.
J.K.
Dominic had a 19-yard touchdown.
Harvey, the first-round draft pick, had a 50-yard run.
And Courten Sutton, who signed a big contract
just offseason, had a great touchdown catch.
But that won't get it done.
Denver has to be better than what they showed today.
Now, the Titans defensively,
they kind of got bailed out because
Simmons
shoved the guy and they called it unnecessary ruptures, and they had the ball.
They allowed the Broncos to keep the ball for a little longer than what they probably should have had it.
But
you got to be better than that.
But Cam Ward did not get a lot of help from his receivers today, Ocho.
It'll have been very interesting to see.
Because Rilly doesn't normally drop that.
And he had a couple of drops, couple, in crucial situations.
And we know that what type of receiver Calvin really is.
We've talked about it at nauseum here the last
couple of days, but
that won't get it done.
That won't get it done.
You got the hat hoes, baby.
Yeah.
And then, you know, he didn't, Calvin turned it over, but he fumbled.
He got, got a, they brought a safety thing, brought a cat blitz on him.
And got the ball out of there.
Yeah, got the ball out there late in the game that ended up ending it for him.
So
Broncos win by the score of 20-20, go to 1-0 in the division.
And guess what?
What?
For the first time and
ain't no telling how long, at least a decade, the Chiefs are at the bottom of the division.
Third stringer, Jake Tongens, how you pronounce that name, Tongans?
Had a late touchdown catch to give the 49ers a 17-13 win over the Seahawks.
He entered the game having never caught an NFL pass.
He finished finished with three receptions and released a relief of injured George Kittle.
Kittle got injured.
I didn't see a hamstring, huh?
Oh, that's what it was?
Okay, soft tissue, hamstring.
And hey,
Purdy, Purdy put it up, and the guy came down and made a great play for him.
And you got sometimes, don't you?
You got to have guys making plays for you.
Everything's not going to always be perfect.
But boy, ooh,
Purdy didn't look good today.
Sometimes I think you try to go out there and you try to, you know, you try to,
I mean,
those interceptions.
Yeah, he was 26 of 35, 277, two touchdowns, two interception.
He was only sacked once.
Sam Darnold was 16 of 23, 150 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions.
Jackson Smith and Jigba, nine for a buck 24.
But, oh, he had a turnover.
He fumbled fumbled at the end of the game and then uh what you call him got it uh bosa
they probably credited the bosa with a sack you did
probably credited the bosa with a sack yep
uh fred warner was fred warner ricky pris all had a had a nice game ojo you ricky did i think jawan jennings jawan jennings got hurt didn't he
uh i don't know i i see two catches i was watching that game and you know, I was all, you know, trying to focus on that game, trying to focus on this game over here.
But Pearsall,
look.
He had a good game.
Today was his coming out game.
He showed flashes last year.
And I think this is one of the reasons why they were ready because they knew in order for him to really sprout and spread his wings, they had to get rid of Debo.
They had to let Debo go.
Because those are opportunities that Debo would get.
Now you got to give him the Uni.
He got him.
Yeah.
he's getting now.
McCaffrey had 10, had nine catches on 10 targets, had a big,
I think, fourth-down catch to keep a drive alive to end up turning into, I think, the
touchdown catch.
49 of you to get a kicker.
That's what they need.
Hey, your boy right here.
That's really what they
Tongas.
That's how you say his name t-o-n-g-e-s tongus listen and based on the kick-ins we saw today in week one there are a few teams that could use a kicker
because a few games are lost based on someone's foot
uh Ocho, the Jags beat the Panthers 26 to 10.
Trevor Lawrence threw a touchdown pass.
Trevor Atien ran for a buck 43 and Brian Thomas Jr.
also ran for a score.
Travis Hunter played 39 offensive snaps, caught six passes for 33 yards.
He played just six snaps on defense.
Yeah.
I tried to watch some of it.
It was up.
I had it up.
I had it up.
I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it.
I think it was a good battle for Travis Hunter.
Obviously, not playing very many defensive snaps, but obviously they said he would play more offensively.
He looked good.
He looked decent.
Trevor Lawrence looked like a number one pick today.
He looked like a number one pick today.
Yeah, he did.
Travis Antienne looked really good as well.
Really?
He looked, he looked faster, a little bit more explosive.
I don't know what it is.
I don't know.
He looked faster, a little bit more explosive.
Bigsby, Tank Bigsby, played really well last year.
He was trying to take money out your pockets.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
I see where you're going with it.
I got you.
I got you.
Yeah.
Bryce Young, 18-35, 154 touchdown, two picks.
Trevor Lawrence was 19-31, 178, one touchdown, one pick.
But like you said, they ran the ball 32 times for 200 yards.
You know, Trav got in and he did catch six passes, Ocho.
Not much on the defensive side.
I think he had a half a tackle.
But look,
we'll check back in
once the seas season's, once as we get further along in the season, and we'll probably see it tick up more, maybe 15 plays next week on defense.
But I think it's going to be some time before
this says, okay,
you're not coming off the field.
Right.
Cardinals beat the Saints by the score of 20 to 13.
Kyler Murray, 163 yards, hitting Marvin Harrison Jr.
five times for 71 yards on a touchdown.
He also ran 38 yards and another score and a five-yard shovel pass to James Conner.
You know what, Ocho?
Yeah.
Like I said, Spencer Rattler, you know, I thought late in the ball game, he had a chance to tie this ball game up, give the Cardinals credit.
They ended up pulling the ball out.
But I will say this.
Quarterbacks, on fourth down, last play of the game, give you guys, even if you throw an interception, so what?
If you throw the ball out of bounds, it's going to be incomplete.
Give your guy a chance.
Give him a chance.
Damn.
That's all we're going to ask for.
Got a chance.
Spencer Rattle was 27 of 46, 214.
He was only sacked once.
No touchdown, no exception.
He ain't looking too bad, huh?
He ain't look too bad.
No, he didn't.
No, he didn't.
No.
He got a nice arm now.
Yeah.
A nice arm.
Now, are we, are we, and I'm being optimistic?
You do understand who they were playing, right?
They're playing the Cardinals.
Okay.
Okay.
Or you think the Cardinals are going to be bad this year?
No, I don't think they're going to be bad, but they're not a team that you can really, really heavily judge a quarterback on because when it comes to playing better competition, especially better competition defensively,
then can you still
be consistent and make the right decisions with the ball?
Right.
Right.
I mean, New Orleans did a great job, they got after Kyler Murray, sacked him five times, Ocho.
Yeah,
oh, yeah,
hey, watching them games today, man,
it got the adrenaline to go on.
I was excited, I was hype
watching, you know, Star Spangled Banner being sung.
Like, I don't, I don't know why it feels like I can go out there and play.
Like,
I don't,
huh?
You can't.
You don't think so?
No.
Damn.
I don't know.
I just think if I was giving.
And I left the game with some injuries.
Keep it that way.
Damn.
The Raiders beat the Patriots by the score of 20 to 13.
Geno Smith passed for 362 yards at a touchdown in his Raiders' debut.
Brock Byers had five catches for 103 yards before leaving the game with a knee injury.
Jacoby Myers added eight catches for 97 yards.
Geno just needed to get out of New York.
Yeah.
Geno been playing well since he left New York.
And yeah,
he'll be wheeling and dealing in Seattle, too.
I'm not sure why.
I'm not sure why they let him go, but he's going to wheel and deal out there in Las Vegas.
Yeah.
That's one thing he can do is he can throw that ball.
He can spin it.
He can spin it.
And now
you got some very, very good targets that you get to throw the ball to, especially Brock Bowers, who's probably going to be the best tight end in the game.
And he'll probably solidify that spot after this season.
Probably so.
They're going to be all right.
They're going to be all right.
I mean, they needed Gino.
Gino was 24, 34, 362, one touchdown, one interception.
They got sacked, but hey, he still was dealing because they didn't really have no resemblance of a run game.
24 rush attempts, 56 yards.
Aston Jente averaged two yards of carry.
But Brock Bowers, like you said, Aston Gentee and excuse me, Brock Bowers and Jacoby Myers between the two of them had 13 catches for 200 yards.
And the funny thing about it is the fact that Geno Smith was still willing and dealing with no run presence at all.
Yep.
With no run presence.
Aston Genty, he's going to get off.
You're going to have games like this.
You're going to have games like this.
It's different.
This ain't Boise's state.
Everybody just as strong, everybody just as fast, and all that being able to bounce it outside, they ain't going to beat it.
the Bucs beat the Falcons 23-20 in dramatic fashion only eight months after helping Ohio State win a national championship, a mecca
two touchdowns.
Yep, caught two touchdown passes, including including a game, a go-ahead 25-yarder with 59 seconds remaining.
Baker was 17 to 32, 167 with three touchdowns.
Young
Young Way Co.
I mean, it spelled, y'all know how it spells.
What's his name?
Young Wei.
Young Wei Wei.
Young Wei Ku.
What's his last name?
Ku.
K-O-O.
Okay.
Okay.
What happened to the other kicker?
That was him.
He there.
He just missed it this time.
He went wide.
He pushed it wide right.
Right, yeah.
I thought it was name.
I thought the name was Young Ho.
Yeah.
That's how it spells.
But hey.
man
i i just knew they were gonna they were gonna come they were they will tie this game
uh uh uh uh pennix jr did a great job on fourth down to dive get the first down and
man
that was a good game cj stroud was cj stroud was playing well
uh he was 19 to 27 188 uh one interception three uh uh sack he was sacked three times nick chubb had a nick chubb siding on your Hey, he was toting that rock, boy.
Wait till they get Joe Mixon back.
They couldn't really get Nico Collins involved.
But Puka DeCour had himself a day.
Kyra Williams had 18 for 66 yards and a touchdown.
Yeah, but it was a very interesting game.
I mean,
Baker,
those three big touchdowns.
There it is, right here in the game.
But that's what Baker's done since he's been there.
He finds a way to win the ball game.
He had a couple of touchdowns, and they were pilling around and middle and around and middle and around.
And they got the ball back.
He takes it right down the field and get a touchdown.
You're like, nah, I don't want no stinking field goal.
I don't want no overtime.
I'm in the AF.
I'm going home.
I got to get up out of here.
Yeah, I'm going.
They're not paying me for overtime.
I got to.
He's like, first of all, I ain't going to leave it on the, I ain't going to chance it to the kicker anyway,
considering how y'all been missing lately.
Yeah.
They need, they need to put,
they need to widen the
field goal post back.
No.
They need to because everyone is missing kicks that would normally be good.
Everybody missing kicks that normally be good.
They made it that much more difficult for the kickers by narrowing the goal posts.
What they've done, guys have sacrificed distance for accuracy.
You see how Broswell, how that 60-yarder went through, that looked like it had been good from 70, didn't it?
Yeah, it did.
So, guys are sacrificing leg strength for accuracy.
Yeah,
because we look at how many, look how many PATs we're starting to see miss.
You know, the further out you go,
the further out you go, the more difficult it is to be accurate.
Yeah, further out you go.
And this is coming from a NFL kicker, you know.
I wouldn't go that far, but uh, I was a backup kicker for the Bengals.
You, you, you know, you know, that, yeah, way back.
But the Bucs, look, that division, we think it's going to be the Bucs.
And we think it's going to be the Bucs and the Falcons.
That's always nice to go ahead and go on the road.
Now, we play y'all again.
We're division rivals.
We play y'all again, but y'all got to come to our place.
It's always nice to go ahead and be one up on your division rivals.
That division, Carolina, they lost today.
New Orleans, they lost today.
Ralph didn't look that bad.
He had a throw late in the ball game that could have tied it.
And the guy,
the DB did a great job of pulling the ball out.
Pennix Jr.
was 27-42, 298, one touchdown.
He only got sacked once.
Bijan Robinson was 6-400, one touchdown.
Kyle Pitts, Kyle Pitts siding, they finally decided to give him the ball.
Drake London had eight catches.
Kyle Pitts had seven catches.
Go ahead, Ocho, what do you want want to say?
I will say, hey,
they were dishing the Kyle, boy.
They laid the game.
They didn't give him the ball early.
Early?
Yeah,
they were dishing, boy.
I mean,
hey, Bijan Robinson in open space,
I don't want no part of that.
Oh, that turf?
He's making everybody look stupid.
I'm not saying he's Barry Sanders.
No, nobody's Barry.
Yeah, nobody is.
but the only person i've seen that make those kind of moves like that in open space or in tight quarters was maybe lashawn mccoy yeah shady mccoy yeah look that's who he reminds you of yeah that's it
you're right yes uh well he nice he nice it's um
You're not going to have very many opportunities like that.
Penix was dealing today.
He got an opportunity to start.
He looked good.
He looked good.
Threw the ball with some confidence.
You're going to do a better job of running the football.
28 for 69 yards won't get it done, don't you?
That's putting too much pressure on your offensive line.
That's putting too much pressure on your quarterback.
You need to bend the ball better.
You've got to run the ball better than that.
You've got to run it better than that.
That's asking an awful lot of your quarterback, your second-year quarterback in your offensive line when you only get 69 yards rushing.
Now, I look, I understand that Tampa, when they got Vita Veil in there, that's not an easy assignment to try to move his big ass out the way.
But
you got to do some Ojo.
That's not nearly good enough.
Not nearly good enough.
Yeah.
