Speaker 24 I think for myself, just in college, man, I ended up going to Old Miss for two years. I played there in the SEC.

Speaker 24 Had a lot of success. And then my last year of college, for my junior year, I was like, man, I want to go somewhere I can compete for a national championship.
So I ended up at Ohio State.

Speaker 24 I felt like that was a great situation. Coach Day was a great tight program.
A lot of talented players there. So I was like, you know, it's no better place to go than Ohio State.
So I end up there.

Speaker 23 Hey, Q, tell me something. You SEC

Speaker 23 freshman of the year, right?

Speaker 24 I was like

Speaker 24 nominee for it or something like that. But yeah, I think I was a freshman of the year.
I can't even remember.

Speaker 23 So you left the SEC to go to Ohio State, huh? Yep.

Speaker 24 For me, it wasn't about that, though. You know, like for many different people, like in the game, it's about the money, the car, different.

Speaker 24 win games as much as possible because at O Miss, I was putting up 1,500 yards. I'm getting 15 touchdowns a year.
So, I'm like, man, no, I'm doing all of that, but that's not what fulfills me.

Speaker 24 And if you go back to Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt and different guys playing in this offense, it's always been able to lean on the run game.

Speaker 24 And I think that's what's very beneficial about playing this offense.

Speaker 24 So I think, you know, just on my mindset, man, like my mentality, regardless of who we playing. that week,

Speaker 24 what plays we installing, just had that same determination, bro, to just go out there and like like just leave it all on on the field. But knowing the particular like

Speaker 24 situation, like, yeah, for sure, knowing that this is a run-first offense, I'm already going to.

Speaker 23 Yeah, you're in the West Coast system. In the West Coast system, that's all.

Speaker 23 You put your foot in the dirt and you get downhill.

Speaker 23 And then everything comes after that. Cause now we're going to boot, we're going to play action.
Yeah. Because, look,

Speaker 23 I played in this offense. Now, a lot of it's maybe changed.

Speaker 23 The wording of the verbiage has changed, but you go back and look at the Broncos offense with TD and Clinton Clinton Portis and Mike Anderson and Ruben Drones, and you look at the way the team run this offense.

Speaker 23 When you got a running back, when you got a guy, Kristen McCaffrey in San Francisco, Kyron Williams with the Rams, you look at Josh Jacobs with the Packers, when you look, when the run game is efficient, This offense is almost impossible to do.

Speaker 24 Almost, almost, literally, because I feel like that's when we're in our best. When we're clicking in the run game, like, I feel like as a team, man, we're unstoppable.
And that's where

Speaker 24 we continue to get better at and consistently try to go out there on sundays and put it all together because i feel like like you said man that run game is what really helps us

Speaker 23 hey what was your expectations when you what What was your goals when you came in? You was dealing with what you did. You was dealing with what you was dealing with that offseason.

Speaker 23 I think you got uninvited to

Speaker 23 the draft, but you was going through what you was going through. You was like, okay, this is going to be behind me.
And I'm going to have to put

Speaker 23 what I, what's, what's this is, I got to put that behind. And I got to go somewhere and I got to perform at an elite level.
I got to play like I know I can play. What were your expectations for your

Speaker 23 rookie season?

Speaker 24 I think for myself, it was more so a testament to, you know, what I'm doing when nobody was looking because.

Speaker 24 When I wasn't in the building, you know, like I didn't have

Speaker 24 a strength staff. I didn't have a coach to talk to to go over plays.
I didn't have every resource that I had while I'm here in Cleveland now.

Speaker 24 So it was like the amount of dedication that it took for me to give everything I had and try to perfect my craft when I wasn't around

Speaker 24 and then come back

Speaker 24 like it was nothing and try to get on that same page with no training camp,

Speaker 24 no, no football for what, three months. So

Speaker 24 not having those things and just training, making sure I'm mentally sharp. So when I get that call and I go back, I'm ready.
I think that was my things that I really harped the most.

Speaker 24 Also, other than like physical activity was really just making sure, you know, like I'm mentally sharp just because you go through so much, man, and a lot of people don't understand.

Speaker 24 They'll never know what it's like, you know, especially being an athlete and the thing that we deal with.

Speaker 24 But yeah, bro, just really just making sure I'm mentally there all the way sharp, 100%.

Speaker 23 I love that, what you said, what you were doing when no one was watching, because discipline is doing what you should do versus what you want to do.

Speaker 23 I'm sure you wanted to, hey, the boys kicking it. They doing they pay.
Hey, let me go over here. Let me party.
Let me kick it. But the discipline, stay true because I got bigger issue.

Speaker 23 You're the first Browns player with three rushing touchdowns in the game since Nick Chubb did it September 18th, 2022.

Speaker 23 You had 84 yards rushing, three touchdowns, and you're rookie of the week nominee.

Speaker 23 When you see things like you've done, doing things that hadn't been done by a Browns player in three years, you're doing, you know, being nominated for rookie of the year.

Speaker 23 Look, we all want validation. We put that kind of time in.
We put that kind of work in in the offseason. And to see you plant a tree, you want it to bear fruit.

Speaker 23 You're bearing fruit.

Speaker 23 How pleasing, how gratifying, how satisfying is it for like, okay.

Speaker 23 Everything that I did in the offseason, everything that I went through, this is more gratifying. It makes it even more like I knew I was doing the right thing.
For me,

Speaker 24 it more so. Like, I'm just, I'm one of those people where it's like, man, I'm just, I'm just trying to chop wood.
I'm just trying to chop wood. You know, what I'm doing is that's cool.

Speaker 24 But at the same time, like,

Speaker 24 you know, I got bigger goals. I know how I view myself as a competitor, how good I want to be.

Speaker 24 So I don't really think about it, but at the same time, when I look up and knowing what I've been through, knowing like how I persevered, knowing what like different challenges I face.

Speaker 24 And then you see the light at the end of the tunnel, it motivates me personally to like, you know, keep going and strive to be better. So I think just that motivation you get from it and the hunger.

Speaker 23 Hey, Q,

Speaker 23 man, as a rookie in the NFL, bro, living the American dream.

Speaker 23 Tell me, tell me what it's like. Cause when I look back, when I was a rookie playing in the NBA, bro,

Speaker 23 I couldn't sleep, man. I couldn't sleep.

Speaker 23 I was so geeked for the moment because I'm coming.

Speaker 23 Because when I came in the NBA in 01, it's when Jordan came back, you know, T-Mac, Cole, Vince, Carter, all them dudes who was, you know, they was at the apex.

Speaker 23 So I couldn't sleep nights before games because I was so geeked up for the moment.

Speaker 23 Man, I'm not playing. So what is it like as a rookie living the American dream? You probably been, you know, wishing for this moment since you was a kid.

Speaker 23 And now that you're actually in it, what is it like?

Speaker 24 Oh, man. I think for me, man, like just finally being here, this is something you think about your whole life.

Speaker 23 Like you worked your whole life for this.

Speaker 24 Like you worked since you was this big, like to get to this, to this moment. So it's like you're finally here.
But what I realized was, it's like, okay,

Speaker 23 it's not.

Speaker 24 how fast you can get here. It's how long you can stay.

Speaker 24 So, so, so my thing is, you know, doing everything in my power to, you know, be able to go out there and do this, have the same amount of success, not only for this year, but for a long time and keep that same discipline.

Speaker 24 So that's one thing I did learn, I would say, is that just having so many good vets too, you got a lot of good vets in the locker room. And you meet a lot of good players around the league, too.

Speaker 24 You develop a lot of relationships. I think in college it's more so very

Speaker 24 compared to the NFL, I would say it's kind of individualized just because guys aren't in locker rooms as long as they are at different organizations in the league.

Speaker 24 So I think in the league, man, you always have people that you can lean on, get advice from, because like coming into this, you know, a lot of stuff moves super fast.

Speaker 24 So having somebody that you can ask different questions to, so you're not just hit by the blind for real, for real.

Speaker 23 Right.

Speaker 23 Hey, how's the body holding up? Good. I feel, I feel good.

Speaker 24 You know, I used to get, I got a lot of carriers when I was at O Minis, so I used to get a lot of carries. And then last year at Ohio State, I think I had like maybe 300, 255.

Speaker 24 So I was used to being the bail count guy, you know? Right.

Speaker 23 So I feel feel good, though. Okay.

Speaker 23 How is the quarterback? Look, he started out, you know, Gabriel gets drafted and Shadur comes in. And we know what Shadur, we know what that last name brings.
You got Joe Flacco and you got Pickett.

Speaker 23 And they, okay, we're going to move on. We go in this direction.
And now has that. The quarterback, the situation with Gabriel and Shadur, is he going to get reps? Is he going to start?

Speaker 23 Is he going to play? Has that impacted the locker room in any way?

Speaker 24 No, I think with our team, we also close and we got a lot of, we got so many young guys, man. It's like in our locker room, we genuinely, it's almost like you in college again.

Speaker 23 It feels like for real, for real, like, damn, like locker room full of young guys, but

Speaker 24 man, it's just like the energy there, regardless of who playing, those two guys, they always support each other, man. Like, it was a clip I seen

Speaker 24 on the internet the other day, and it was like them walking down the sideline and just talking, laughing about, I think we had just scored a touchdown or something, but that's who they genuinely are that's who they truly are they are competitive but at the same time they want what's best for each other and i don't think it's ever been turmoil or any any word said by anybody on our team like about who's starting quarterback we all 100 support dylan i even played him when i was at ohio state twice i played him at oregon once and then i played him again in pasadena california at the rose bowl so i got to see him and how he is as a quarterback he's super talented bro he's like super smart he processes really fast and he's a great player.

Speaker 24 So I'm excited to see how he develops in his career.

Speaker 23 he wanted to be wanted yeah he wanted to be he wanted to be appreciated and he felt his last several years in green bay now

Speaker 23 he might have felt that but that doesn't they still took him in the first round they still he won four mvps there he won a super bowl there he won an mvp there he cut his teeth as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play yes no matter what happened in new york or pittsburgh everybody's going to remember him as a green bay packer absolutely absolutely so

Speaker 23 Those New York years, these years in Pittsburgh, whether it be one, whether it be two, whether it be three, will never override or overshadow what he did in Green Bay.
