Speaker 2 Welcome to Van Huys Airport. Thank you, my love.
Speaker 3 You're welcome. Let's go to Paris.
Speaker 2 It's a great idea.
Speaker 3 alan welcome to cat on the loose thank you for having me i'm so excited to be here i should say thank you for having us in this spectacular airplane well as i tell everybody is uh welcome to the good life right i know welcome to the good life so 10 million questions i know we don't have a lot of time because the plane actually has to go somewhere so let's do this fast and furious hey look that's the best thing about what i do
Speaker 2
we are actually really on aircraft that moves around and i actually do fly around on the aircraft compared to other people that talk about jets jets all the time. I know.
I'm just talking about them.
Speaker 3 Yeah, by the way, this is not like a prop for social media. This is like a real spectacular plane.
Speaker 3 And so let's talk about this plane first. This is a long distance.
Speaker 2
No, this, so this is not a super long distance. This plane goes about five hours.
Okay. So you can go to New York on it.
You can
Speaker 2
fly up to Canada or down to Mexico anywhere you like. Okay.
And we can also go to Hawaii from LA. Oh my God.
Speaker 3 Which I've never been to, by the way. So
Speaker 3
yeah, I know, I know. I need to make enough money so I can fly one at a time.
But so if somebody wants to go to Europe on a plane like this, they have like to stop in New York.
Speaker 2 So you can do that, but we have larger aircraft, which are called ultra-long range aircraft. And we can go straight from here to London or from here to Paris, wherever your destination.
Speaker 3 Okay, so explain to us for people that don't know, because I follow you on social media, you know, I live vicariously through your travels.
Speaker 3 Like I was telling Anthony, one minute you're here, you're in LA, then you're in Monaco, like, oh my God, what a life, what a life, what a life. Do you need a flight attendant, by the way?
Speaker 2 Our positions are...
Speaker 2
Always. So we won't.
You're definitely not a flight attendant. You're flying with me everywhere we go.
Thank you.
Speaker 2
It's a growing field. This is a very exciting time to be in private aviation.
The industry's experienced a robust growth. And we have some fantastic aircraft.
Speaker 3 Obviously, this is something for the super rich,
Speaker 3 right? It's for an exclusive, exclusive minority.
Speaker 2 You You know, I wouldn't call it a minority, but there is a lot of people that own corporations, right? And that can use the aircraft to get around. The point is ease and access.
Speaker 2 So if you're asking me, why private? So you have ease and you have access to everywhere you want to go. And we cut off hours and hours on your travel time.
Speaker 2 So we went from Los Angeles to Portugal in nine hours.
Speaker 3 Oh my God. Right.
Speaker 2 Now,
Speaker 2 keep in mind, there's no TSA, there's no security. So that's nine hours from point to point, and then you're in in your hotel in 15 minutes.
Speaker 3
And you're done. No, I mean, it's a totally different life.
But why do you think there is such demand?
Speaker 3 Do you think there are more wealthy people or do you think there are more companies that decided this is really worth it? I'm going to put this in the budget.
Speaker 2 So generally, there's more demand for travel. So if you look at commercial airliners, and those are the big brands that
Speaker 2 are on the other side of the business,
Speaker 2
they are flying a lot more. But private aviation had its own growth because the economies for the whole world grew, right? So people can't afford a little more luxury in their life.
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2
And, you know, this is a Bombardier Challenger 850. So we have smaller aircraft.
It depends on where you're going, how comfortable do you want to be. Do you want to have a flight attendant?
Speaker 2 Do you want to have food served?
Speaker 3 Yes, yes, yes, yes. Where's my champagne, please? Right.
Speaker 2 And that's kind of the benefit of it all. And then we have super small aircraft, which are called light aircraft, right?
Speaker 2 And those will only take six people. And you have to be your own flight attendant.
Speaker 3 Oh, really? Yeah, I remember because, like I said, when I was married, we used to fly private a lot around the United States, and it was always the tiny ones.
Speaker 3 I never had a flight attendant, but I do remember, and tell me if I'm right, if it's still the same, because this was like 10 years ago.
Speaker 3 I remember we could actually like pre-order the food that we, even if it was from here, we are in the Van Nuys airport, by the way.
Speaker 2 We used to go to Las Vegas a lot because we had a house in Las Vegas, and it's like, what, a 40-minute 30 minute fly right usually it's about 35 minutes to 40 minutes yeah so let's say i want to do that you you can call in and pre-order what you want a snack right that's so those are all the fringe benefits that nobody really talks about yeah right so we cater the food that you like so it doesn't matter if the food is from let's say waldorf astoria or wolfgang puck or whatever chef you like, we actually order the food, have it delivered on the airplane and have it ready.
Speaker 2 And then if you're flying international, of course, then, you know, it's really extravagant. So we have multiple meals.
Speaker 2 We can actually cook everything on the plane and serve everything from espresso to your, you know, favorite cocktail.
Speaker 3 Oh my God, the good life. This plane fits how many people? That's a huge one, right?
Speaker 2
Yeah, so this plane fits 15 people. 15 people.
Right. And we have planes that go up to 18.
Speaker 3 So this is one that more like mostly corporations use, or do you have private clients that would charter a plane like this?
Speaker 2
There is, so it's a big mix. You know, you can't really answer that.
So there's a lot of entertainers. There's a lot of entertainment business, obviously because we're Los Angeles based, right? Yeah.
Speaker 2 You got a lot of celebrities that fly these things, A-level celebrities, right?
Speaker 2 And then you have all the corporate executives. And if you consider a corporate executive and their salary, right?
Speaker 2
Do you want a CEO of a major corporation sitting in a terminal as you're paying them thousands of dollars an hour? I know. So you don't.
And then so you come here and you cut off the TSA.
Speaker 2 You also cut off the walking in a terminal and walking out.
Speaker 2 And all of a sudden a trip to las vegas with us is 35 minutes 40 minutes at the most right and if you go commercial it's a three-hour turnaround oh at least if everything
Speaker 3 if everything goes right which if you have many times pre-check and got all that stuff especially nowadays like the truck i know i always and it's interesting that you're mentioning that because i know a lot of people the criticism is like this is ridiculous it's so expensive no no no but people forget that our time is worth a lot, right?
Speaker 3 First of all, we're not going to get that back ever. But like you said, if you're like a high-profile CEO or a celebrity, if you have the money for that matter,
Speaker 3 all the hours that you're wasting hoping that everything is going to go right,
Speaker 3 you can be productive doing something else with your life and your time.
Speaker 2
Yeah, and you know, people are getting smarter as well. Consumers are getting super smart.
So, you know, there's times where we travel and then a group of friends get together, you know, couples.
Speaker 2
So you have three couples or four couples will share a large jet. Oh, I love that idea.
So instead of flying first class somewhere, this is a much more elegant, faster experience.
Speaker 2 And I like to call it V VIP, right? It's a super VIP experience.
Speaker 3 It's super VIP.
Speaker 1 Let's take a really quick break and talk about a problem that I know most of us have, especially after super crazy long work days. Puffy eyes, dark circles, eye bags, tired-looking skin.
Speaker 1 And this is why I partnered with Marie Marine and now I am madly in love with this brand of collagen eye gels, collagen and hyaluronic acid face masks.
Speaker 1 They use ocean sourced natural ingredients such as pearl extract, algae extract, everything science-backed, everything sustainably formulated, which is so important, ethically and responsibly sourced.
Speaker 1 This USA brand really, really, really works. I use my face masks every Sunday, and I have fantastic skin all week long.
Speaker 1
And when I come home super tired, I put the eye masks at night and I wake up with fantastic, fantastic skin. I invite you to check it out.
You can buy all of their products right on Amazon.
Speaker 1 It is spelled MARA-M-A-R-E-E
Speaker 1 or right on their website, imare.com.
Speaker 1 check it out i fell madly in love with everything they do and if you guys love taking care of your bodies and health as much as i do i invite you to check out this brand that i love so much nutra harmony look well feel well be well stay beautiful on the outside with care and health from the inside neutra harmony is your daily dose of perfection confidence health and beauty each supplement is made for you with love and care, made in the USA with globally sourced all natural ingredients.
Speaker 1
I love their biotin with collagen. I am obsessed with their hair mask.
They have so many incredible products.
Speaker 1 I invite you to check out their website and shop now, neutra slash harmony.com, or you can go directly on their Amazon store. You will absolutely love the quality of their products.
Speaker 1 I am completely hooked and I highly recommend them.
Speaker 3
Let's talk about prices because I know a lot of people are going to ask, a lot of people are curious. They don't have any idea.
I know we're sitting on a huge one. So let's start with this one.
Speaker 3 How do you, do people get charged by the hour or by the flight or by the distance? How does it work?
Speaker 2 So every charter company has a little bit of a different formula, but it's usually per hour, right? So there's a standard rate per hour and then depending on the size of the aircraft.
Speaker 2 so you start with the let's say smaller medium large and then the ultra larger aircraft that go to Europe yeah and what you want to do is select an aircraft that fits what we call is your mission yeah right so if you want to go from here to let's say Las Vegas you don't necessarily need a large aircraft right like this one right you could
Speaker 2 unless you have 15 people you want to take and if you have a lot of people in your party yeah so I kind of tell people if you're at six there's a special size or you're nine that's special size and if you're larger than that then you got to go with an aircraft Can you give us an idea of the cost?
Speaker 2 So let's say you're going to Las Vegas, it would be a $15,000 trip. 15? 15,000 to go from here to Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 In a small plane?
Speaker 2 In a large aircraft. Oh, like this.
Speaker 3 Right.
Speaker 2 And that's not bad when you think about 15 people.
Speaker 3 Yeah, exactly. If all the 15 are paying.
Speaker 2 Correct.
Speaker 2 Usually one person pays.
Speaker 3 I know. Usually it's like one person and their entourage.
Speaker 2 That's how it usually works.
Speaker 3 And do they pay for the $15,000 includes
Speaker 3 the cost of gas?
Speaker 2 It includes the fuel and the crew and everything.
Speaker 3 It includes everything.
Speaker 3 So if you think about it, it's not that crazy. Yeah.
Speaker 3 Because like,
Speaker 3 I don't know how much a ticket costs to Las Vegas, but like first class is, I personally think it's very expensive compared to how chitty it is. Right.
Speaker 2 Well, there isn't much in first class. Right.
Speaker 2 I think commercial aviation, they kind of cut the quality and the service standards substantially.
Speaker 3 More and more and more.
Speaker 2 The biggest thing that bothers me about flying commercial and don't get me wrong I fly commercial do you I've never seen it so four or five times a year I do fly commercial that's very rare though so I have that experience yeah I know but when I fly commercial I have all the VIP passes and the extra get in the back door card or whatever that is like I'm trying to learn how to do that can you teach me
Speaker 2 but even with all that you still have to put up with some of the kind of the red tape around airports right yeah it's the traffic of getting there it's the it's a nightmare Dealing with the nightmares.
Speaker 3 Now, the crying babies, the crazy drunk, the person that opens the MR job.
Speaker 2 That's true.
Speaker 2 Oh my God.
Speaker 2 So I'll tell you one thing, like for Los Angeles, for example, you know, like we can come to LAX, we can go to Purbank Airport, we can come to Vanu's, we can go to Camarillo, we can go to Santa Monica.
Speaker 2 So you got choices.
Speaker 2 And how far are you from which airport? We'll pick you up there.
Speaker 3 At the end of the day, it's all about money, right? Because if somebody calls and says, I want this plane right now at LAX, I want to fly to Florida. If they pay the price, you guys do it.
Speaker 3 You move the solution. How long does it take to move the plane from Van Nuys to LAX? Like you go up and down like this?
Speaker 2 Yeah, you literally go up and then you let
Speaker 3 it go right back.
Speaker 2
You don't have to go to some distance. Yeah, you don't have to cover.
So, you know, when you fly, you communicate with what's called air traffic control, right? Yeah.
Speaker 2 And as soon as they find out that you're making a short hop, or we call it a reposition, as soon as they find out, then that you kind of cut off the traffic and then you go and you land. land.
Speaker 3 So obviously there is a private
Speaker 3 place for private aircraft
Speaker 3 at LAX. Right.
Speaker 2
So we don't go to the commercial or the terminal side. We have our own private terminals.
They're called FBOs. That's just like the building we walk through on our way here.
Yeah. Right.
Speaker 2
And those are met just for the private jet service. So we get our fuel, we get our food, our catering, everything delivered here.
Yeah. Put it on the planet.
Speaker 3 Everything's separate. Everything's separate.
Speaker 3 Before we started filming you were mentioning to me the cost of because we were saying let's go to paris let's go to paris what would be the cost of flying because let everybody deserves to dream right yeah most people will never be in a private let's be honest most people will never be in a private plane in their lives or they're going to be like me just sitting on one
Speaker 3 not going anywhere but what would be the cost to go from la
Speaker 3 to Paris let's say on this let's say on this one here 15 people so this one will actually go there, but we need to.
Speaker 2
Oh, yeah, this one. You need the large one.
Yeah, you need this one.
Speaker 2 Let's say we take a Gulfstream 550 or a Gulfstream 650.
Speaker 3 Which you work with, by the way, right?
Speaker 2
You have, yes. You have now.
Those are the planes that people call G5 or G6.
Speaker 2 If you ever heard those songs, that's what they're talking about.
Speaker 2
And those planes are about the same. They fit 15 or 18 people.
Oh, really? And, you know, from let's say from LA to London and back, you're looking at about $300,000 all in.
Speaker 3 Does it wait for you there?
Speaker 2 It waits as long as you like.
Speaker 3 So if you want to be there for a month, the plane would sit there and wait for you.
Speaker 2
So that's another thing. We could bring the plane back.
The plane could be flying around,
Speaker 2 right?
Speaker 2 It all depends on the logistics.
Speaker 3 But if I say I want my plane to wait for me, like Kim Kardashian, like, I don't know when I'm going to leave, la, la, la, la, la. Do you charge them to keep the plane there?
Speaker 2 So, yeah, so there's all kinds of fees associated with parking an aircraft.
Speaker 2 So you would be paying all those fees as long as the client or the owner of the aircraft is happy with that, then you keep the plane in London.
Speaker 3
Oh my God. Now, that's an interesting question.
Just popped my mind because I thought about King Kardashian. Obviously, the gazillionaires own their own plane.
Correct.
Speaker 3
But it's an absurd cost to own your own plane and maintain it and keep it there. Correct.
And then there is the next step, which is just hire your planes when people need it.
Speaker 3 So why do you think some celebrities say, I'm going to own my own plane? Do you think they just have unlimited money? It's worth it for them.
Speaker 2
So there's a couple of things about that aircraft ownership. There is all kinds of depreciation.
There's tax benefits for having these things, right?
Speaker 2 So once you get to a specific level of money, what are you going to do with your money? You're going to buy real estate and another house and a hotel. And then you're going to start getting to jets.
Speaker 2 And then once you have a couple of jets, then you get into the big yachts, right? $50 million, $80 million yachts. Oh, my God.
Speaker 1 But it does make sense.
Speaker 2 However, the people that own their own jets and they fly their own jets, it's because they don't want anyone else in their plane. You're the only one.
Speaker 3 Because they want to leave their personal things in the plane.
Speaker 2 And it's yours. You customize every little piece.
Speaker 3 True.
Speaker 3 Do you see their planes? Do you know, like, who is the biggest celebrity that has the biggest plane? Do they compete with each other?
Speaker 2
So, you know, because of technology, now everything is searchable on the internet. So you really can't hide.
So
Speaker 2 an average person can, if they want to look, find out exactly where a celebrity went or where they're flying to.
Speaker 3 Which is kind of bad, right? Like they have no privacy.
Speaker 2 It's possible, but that's the point of private aircraft. There's ways where we get around those things and we give you 100% privacy.
Speaker 2 By the way, that's the benefit of flying private, we know how to get you there and nobody will know. So there's no paparazzi and there's none of that stuff.
Speaker 3 Yeah, there's no paparazzi here.
Speaker 2 Of course, that's the benefit of not going to a terminal, right? So then you don't have paparazzi. This is completely closed off there, VIP, right?
Speaker 2 how long have you been doing this so i've been in general aviation business for about 15 years oh wow but for private i've been doing it since the pandemic since 2019.
Speaker 3 oh my god and you amassed a huge following on instagram people love following your trips around the world Congratulations. Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 So if anybody's interested in finding out more, if anybody's interested in flying with you guys, where do they find your Instagram?
Speaker 2 You can just go to my Instagram, Alan Semsar, and Samsung. Yeah, I'm going to put the link there.
Speaker 3 And you connect and
Speaker 3 your crew, your team, they book the flights and everything.
Speaker 3 Absolutely. And
Speaker 3
I told my crew, you guys should follow him because you live the most dreamy, incredible life. You wake up in different places all the time.
It's pretty incredible. Congratulations and all the amazing.
Speaker 3 Thank you very much. Can you spill the tea before I let you go? Like, and tell us who's the most famous celebrity you guys ever flew?
Speaker 2
So that's the one thing I can't talk about. We're not allowed to talk about that, but I will tell you who gave me permission.
Oh, okay.
Speaker 2 So I had the privilege of flying Alicia Keys and her husband once. Oh, are they super nice? Absolutely.
Speaker 3 Do you have, even if you don't tell us the name, do you have someone that you fooled? They were like, oh my God, what an a-hole, what a bitch.
Speaker 2
So look, every, every business, every level of business, every. every avenue has people that are difficult to deal with.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 But, you know, my job and our job is to make sure they're catered to all the way to the end. Yeah.
Speaker 3 But in general, most people that you deal with are super nice, even the famous ones. Absolutely.
Speaker 2 I don't think there's anyone that's difficult to handle as long as you know who they are and what they want. And if you deliver what people want, you have customer satisfaction.
Speaker 3 I mean, with this VIP life, why not, right? Absolutely. And last but not least, can they bring their dogs?
Speaker 2
We allow dogs. You can bring as many pets as you like.
Oh, my God.
Speaker 3 Okay, I'm going to try to make a lot of money so I can start flying with you and bring my dogs.
Speaker 2 Well, let's go.
Speaker 3
Thank you, Alan. This is such a pleasure.
I mean, guys, look at this plane. Seriously, that's the life.
That's where are you going next?
Speaker 2 Uh, so from here, we're going to San Francisco and then we're going to take a trip to Europe.
Speaker 3 Oh, my God!
Speaker 2 That's going to be amazing.
Speaker 3
I'm going to sign up for whatever flight attendant, personal assistant. I want to have your life.
I love it.
Speaker 2 Let's go.
Speaker 2
All right. Thank you so much.
You're the best. That was fantastic, right?
Speaker 3 Yes, it's going to be so fabulous.
Speaker 2 I love it.
