Transcript

Hey everybody, it's Alden Ford here.

And Mujan Zolfagari.

And we are here as ourselves, as our regular selves.

This is what Mujan's voice actually sounds like.

I play Bargi and other various sentients, but this is my true human voice.

Yeah.

So take me as I am.

This is my real voice.

As you may know, this is one of our off weeks in this new bi-weekly schedule we've got set up.

We hope that you out there are staying safe in these crazy times.

We are are trying to stay sane and safe as well.

We're recording a bunch of new episodes.

We've done what, three episodes now?

Yeah, three episodes from the not sponsor, but Zoom,

a wonderful company.

Yeah.

Yeah, you're not allowed to say, not allowed to say their name on air unless they're a sponsor.

No one's hacked into our Zoom yet.

We're very grateful for that.

Nobody's bombed us?

Nope.

Although us saying it out loud right now

probably will bring it to fruition.

And that's how things work.

Password from now on.

Shit.

Okay.

You have any cool spoilers for the episodes we've recorded remotely so far?

You guys ready to be spoiled?

This is the spoiler section of this off-podcast.

Cool, yeah.

Okay, I'll give you a couple spoilers.

Next episode, which is coming out next week, think about sisters.

Oh, yeah.

Think about them.

The episode after that, think about

germs.

Think about?

When you say think about, does that mean that's what the episode is about?

Or that's the way that's what you should do to get into the headspace of the episode.

Get into the headspace.

Get ready.

When you put on the headphones onto your head, you'll be ready to listen and consume.

You know what I mean?

And then

we have a return, and then we also have a house.

That's good.

Mujan, don't give it all away.

People won't even listen if you're not.

Germ return house.

That's the next four episodes.

Great.

And we've got a new one coming out next Wednesday.

Next week, yeah.

And for this week, we have some exciting stuff to announce that is not Canon Zix related, but it is Zix Adjacent.

Yes.

Is that good?

It's, well, there's definitely some Zix

content in addition

to Zix Adjacent content.

Yes, okay, that's good.

Yeah.

And Zix-inspired content.

Cool.

It's like three levels of Zix.

Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, fear not, Zix fans.

We've got some stuff coming up in the next week that you're going to be, I hope that you will enjoy.

Well,

I'm sad we're not releasing an episode this week, but we are

doing something sort of exciting for me anyway,

and something that maybe is more exciting for the rest of our listeners.

The thing that's more exciting, probably, for those of you at home,

our live listen that we did on episode 101 a couple weeks ago was so much fun.

Mujan, you were there in the comments section, which I trolled the chest.

Great.

You sort of lurked, which was perfect.

I had a great time.

We met a bunch of cool people.

We answered a bunch of fun questions.

We did, I don't know, for those of you who do not follow us on social, someone suggested that we set up a like March Madness style bracket for all of Winston's walk-on characters, which we are doing as we speak.

We actually did one.

It's a bunch of great characters.

Remaining characters are Finneford J.

Ryan.

I mean, largely a favorite, I think, but there's some dark horses here.

Of all the fan arts of tertiary characters, there's the most for Finneford.

Yeah, I would.

He inspires so many people.

There's the Destroyed Miner, also still in the running.

The Hand of the Governor of Milsch, which is a classic.

Stone Cold classic character.

The Grand Kula of Flurp.

Surprising, because I thought it would be the Kulada.

The Kulada was beat by the Keck Swarm

in the first round, unfortunately.

All right.

Some of those early, very difficult decisions were made by our fans.

Rolfus Tittle versus Leximar Puinch, and Lil Bill, who is terminally ill, versus Samo.

So, I mean, guys, lots of excitement left in this bracket.

As the wink to the Samo, I would, I'm a big Samo fan over here.

Yeah, of course.

You're physically attached to him sometimes.

So it makes sense.

Yeah, that's just one of the many ridiculous things I hope comes out of the live listens.

And thank you if you joined us last time on that.

That was super fun.

And also thank you if you remembered any of those characters.

Thank you so much.

Yeah.

If you were able to make like educated decisions on each of those characters, then wow.

That's a barge you would say that's a real fan.

That's a real fan.

Yeah, good, good, good, very nice.

We are doing another live listen.

Same time, same place.

Youtube.com slash mission to zix.

Come join us for our second episode.

We're not going to go in order.

We're going to jump around so that we can get some of our favorite episodes throughout the whole run of the show.

This week, we'll be listening to episode 104, Assimilation is Futile.

And joining us at the live listen will be the grower mind himself, J.R.

Wilson.

Yeah, it'll be happening Friday, the 24th at 4 p.m.

Eastern.

4 p.m.

Eastern.

And finally, we have one more announcement, which I'm a little bit

embarrassed by, honestly, but I'm very excited about at the same time.

One of the early collaborations between the Mission is X crew was a podcast that I did between 2012 and 2014 with Winston Knoll, and it was a music podcast called Hear Me Out.

We learned a lot, we talked a lot of shit, we said a lot of boneheaded things that I really regret,

and my terrible music tastes were laid bare.

We have decided in this crazy time, now that we've moved the show to bi-weekly, to release five bonus episodes of the show one with each of the core cast members of Mission to 6 and we've started with Shane O'Connell our sound designer as our special guest on the first new Hear Me Out episode in

I guess six years now

And so that episode is live right now for all of you Hear Me Out heads out there on our website, which is still a WordPress website, hear meoutpodcast at wordpress.com.

The link is in the show notes for this episode on the feed right now, so you can just click through to that.

We'll also post it on our social media and on mission to zix.space.

For those of you who don't know, which is statistically almost everyone on the planet, Hear Me Out is a show where Winston and I each bring in a song that is terrible, that we love anyway, and our guest brings in a song as well.

So over the course of the episode, the three of us talk about our reasons for liking the song in spite of the world's harsh judgment against it.

And it's a great time.

We all make fun of each other and ourselves and music.

Mujan, do you have a song picked for your episode?

I do.

I don't want to spoil it though.

Even

though you're not a bad person.

Okay, fine.

Sister, Germ, House, and Return.

That doesn't...

That seems a song.

That can't be right.

It's a popular, terrible song.

A song about surprise.

But a great podcast.

Yeah, okay.

All right.

I'm going to puzzle on that one a little bit, I guess.

And in the upcoming weeks, we'll definitely have even more content.

Maybe I have a surprise podcast I've never released to the world.

Oh, great.

Can I spoil it?

Can I spoil it?

Your podcast?

It's going to be about two germs who are sisters who returned to their childhood home.

Yeah.

And that's, and they start a podcast in a podcast.

It's called This American Life.

Wow, cool.

Well, thank you so much again for listening, guys.

I hope everyone out there is staying safe in these surreal and terrifying times.

Oh, Zoom bomb.

You guys are giving away your comments.

Oh, no.

God,

damn it, Shane.

Zoom bomb.

Get out of here.

What are you guys up to?

What's going on?

I don't know, man.

We gotta go.

We're just leaving.

While I have you here, Alden, I was gonna maybe ask you to maybe not post my episode

that your old show.

Yeah,

I feel like

I feel like I don't have a good voice, and I don't want to hear it.

Well, I hate to tell you this.

We are releasing what you're saying right now on the main feed

tomorrow morning.

Oh, crap.

Yeah, sorry.

So, I think people want to hear you, though.

I think that's, I think people want to see the veil lifted.

All right, Zoom bomb out.

See you guys.

Shane Connell, ladies and gentlemen.

Well, this was fun.

Mujan, thank you for being here.

Of course, Alden, thank you for being here.

Thank you.

Oh, you're very welcome.

Of course.

We will see you next week with episode 409.

And thank you for listening.
