Speaker 2 I used to be good at morning routines, and then I had a baby, and then my morning routines kind of went out the window, unfortunately.

Speaker 2 But one thing that I've been doing to make sure that my morning routine is back on track like it used to be is AG1.

Speaker 2 It's a clinically studied daily health drink that combines multivitamins, probiotics, and a blend of superfoods into one scoop. One scoop, add water, and give it a good shake.

Speaker 2 And suddenly I'm getting 75 multivitamins, minerals, and whole food sourced ingredients without thinking about it. My gut thanks me.
My nutrient levels thank me. Everybody thanks me.

Speaker 2 My wife, my kids, everybody, my kid. This episode is sponsored by AG1, but here's the thing.
I actually use it every morning. It's become the super easy habit that keeps me consistent.

Speaker 2 No guessing, no juggling a bunch of bottles, just one scoop, and I'm done. AG-1 promotes a relaxed, calm feeling and helps me bounce back from the daily stress of everyday life.

Speaker 2 I use AG-1 every day and you should too. Head to drinkag1.com/slash D-L-B to get free welcome kits, including a bottle of vitamin D and free AG1 travel packs.

Speaker 10 I am feeling genuine embarrassment from how I sell figures.

Speaker 10 I'm feeling genuine embarrassment by saying that in New York, they've had 110 combined consecutive seasons, Rangers, Islanders, Knicks, Nets, Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants without a championship since Eli Manning in the Super Bowl in 2012.

Speaker 10 And I forgot the Liberty. And I forgot the Liberty, even though Roz

Speaker 10 has her championship ring now. There it is.
She's wearing it.

Speaker 10 And I've got to be honest, it's the only thing about her right now that looks New York because she's gone fully LA.

Speaker 10 I can see behind her and in everything that's happening right now, she has traded New York for Los Angeles. Am I wrong? Do I have it wrong?

Speaker 10 Because you look like an entirely different human being in your surroundings right now than you've looked every time I've seen you over the last year and a half or so.

Speaker 12 Do I have it wrong?

Speaker 13 I'm giving L.A. right now.
Is that what I'm giving?

Speaker 14 Are you not?

Speaker 15 Where are you? I'm in LA.

Speaker 13 I'm in my home in L.A.

Speaker 13 I have officially made the move back to my home after spending the summer in New York and Brooklyn with the Liberty, as we've talked about a bunch of times.

Speaker 13 And I'm just going to gesture a lot because, you know, we've talked like four different, you know, appearances with y'all about this dang ring. It's pretty cool.
And I finally have it.

Speaker 13 And I said, I'm going to rock it for Dan and for everybody watching the Levittard.

Speaker 10 It is very big. It is very showy.
You're going to wear that in public a lot. Mike, why are you looking at me this way?

Speaker 4 Has handled that very well. Well, back here, we thought about saving you from that awkward experience.

Speaker 11 I really wanted.

Speaker 12 I was like rubbernecking.

Speaker 4 I'm like, where is this going?

Speaker 11 And it was like, oh, no, it got worse.

Speaker 10 No, she's giving off a lot of Los Angeles right now.

Speaker 11 She's just wearing a hat, bruv.

Speaker 13 It's a hat and

Speaker 13 I have some art. I'm definitely giving off like, I mean, it's giving off woman.
It's giving off black girl for sure. If you see Stanford women's basketball, little jersey in the background.

Speaker 10 That ring's too much. I fear it's too much.

Speaker 13 And honestly, if you see me with a hat on air, do you want to know what the truth is?

Speaker 11 My hair is not done.

Speaker 1 My hair is not done.

Speaker 17 I got a hat on.

Speaker 13 You're like, oh, no. Her hair was not ready for a camera.

Speaker 10 Will you showy wear that ring? Because David Sampson's ring is about that size. You don't have any other rings that size, correct?

Speaker 13 Oh, I have the Warriors Championship rings.

Speaker 10 The championship rings are gaudier than the other jewelry.

Speaker 14 It's getting worse, Billy. It's getting worse.

Speaker 13 No, but I get what you're saying.

Speaker 13 And no, what I plan to do with this ring, which I literally took out of a box and put on so that I could have it on, because you've referenced the ring a few times and I was not ready with it.

Speaker 13 I'm going to put it in my safe. And

Speaker 13 yeah,

Speaker 13 you know, because

Speaker 13 these rings, these championship rings from these teams are worth more than a lot of the things in my house. So I'm just going to put them away.

Speaker 13 And if there's a reason to come on the Dan Lebatard show and talk about rings, then I'll pull it out. Oh, that's nice.

Speaker 10 The Panthers ring is pretty nice. You like that one? It's got a rat on it.

Speaker 10 We apologize to no one.

Speaker 11 You're killing it.

Speaker 13 I love actually learning the stories behind different rings.

Speaker 13 It's really fascinating what teams and ownership think is important in the season and like stockpile into the rings. You know the player rings for the New York Liberty guys?

Speaker 13 I'm sure you heard about this, but it was really cool. So on the player rings, I mean, these are like huge, like takes up like about a good chunk of their hands.

Speaker 13 And also this green part on mine is all like diamonds, you know, for the players and it's huge. I heard they're around $70,000 rings, but the top opens up like a locket.

Speaker 13 And inside of the player rings are two earrings, crowns.

Speaker 10 So they can pop out earrings, like, you know, just like crown earrings and rock them too I mean I just thought that was pretty cool it's pretty great that the rings are worth more than like the salaries were a few years wow that's crazy that actually there are players with 70k salaries right now like rookie rookie men's and stuff so to put it that way is absolutely insane are you see scene setting a contentious CBA discussion right now Dan I am not I want to actually talk about the game last night the championship appears to have been won last night and just Asia Wilson cementing herself like making history in spots where you're watching greatness, you know, win championships and MVPs.

Speaker 10 And this isn't actually the woman we've been talking about the last couple of years because we've been caught up in the other conversations around Caitlin Clark and Asia Wilson in a way that you've been, you've actually been critical recently of the way that the men have been talking about this sport when we wander over.

Speaker 10 and stick our nose in things and don't know as much as as the people who've been covering it much better than we have over the last few years.

Speaker 13 Honestly, it's really more just funny. Like, first of all, I don't want to gatekeep women's basketball and nor do I want to, you know, get in another argument about the right to be an angry fan or

Speaker 13 a mean fan.

Speaker 13 But

Speaker 13 it's funny. These are huge platforms and often are shaping the conversation around women's hoops and like what people hear.

Speaker 13 And if the only time that they like come in to cover women's basketball is when things are on fire when rightfully so there's like a lot of like you know tough situations happening then it gives the sense that the league has nothing more than chaos and there's so much more i mean yes um they are you know trying to fight for

Speaker 13 a CBA renegotiation that is more favorable for the players, better revenue share, better lifestyles, better, better salaries. But also center stage right now is a super exciting WNBA finals.

Speaker 13 I mean, the fact that it's 3-0 may not be what's exciting, but the games themselves, like this last game, game three was thrilling and came down to the wire, came down to a dream shake buzzer beater from your post MVP star player over two of the top defenders on the other team.

Speaker 13 Like someone put that to Father Stretch My Hands, like Kanye song. And I saw that on the internet and it gave me like goosebumps because like that's what sports is about.

Speaker 13 You don't even got got to follow the WNBA to know that that moment is iconic, is exciting, would make you say, woo!

Speaker 13 And Asia Wilson comes through with this like, honestly, when we go back and look at her career, that is an iconic Asia Wilson moment.

Speaker 13 It's, it's likely seals the championship for the Aces. It likely means that the Aces are now on their way to being a dynasty with her at the center of that, of this era.

Speaker 10 Take us through the goosebumps of it, though, as someone who really loves basketball, the strategy, all of it. Take us through the idea.
You know, she's not the one who's allowed to beat you.

Speaker 10 You have to stop her. You have to do everything to stop her.
Oh, you can't stop her.

Speaker 13 No, she's been a real, Asia Wilson's been a real conundrum for the Phoenix Mercury in that they really don't have a defender of the right size.

Speaker 13 and skill set to be able to defend her one-on-one and to disrupt her. Alyssa Thomas made the all-defensive team, but she's just proven to be too small for Asia Wilson.

Speaker 13 And Asia's just shooting over her. They tried some different things.
They had Natasha Mack, who's a very active defender, super athletic, different look, long, all the things. Didn't bother Asia.

Speaker 13 Asia, 34 points, 14 rebounds, double, double, five assists, three steals, three blocks, just both ends of the court dominant.

Speaker 13 And for her to finish the game like that, the ball was going into her hands. And basically Becky Hammond told her, you know, to make a play.

Speaker 13 And Asia said post-game, I didn't need to be told much i already understood the assignment she gets the ball i mean it's iconic this is also a six four six five like post player making this move this is like kind of like shows her range this isn't some like post up throw it into the into the post and like turn around and make a layup this is some real like high level skill eyes on the moment bright lights she turns goes left picks up spins back and it's over two of the best players on the phoenix mercury i mean it's alyssa thomas it's dawana bonner they're both there contesting her.

Speaker 13 They're long. They're seasons on the line.

Speaker 13 They just came back from down 17, nearly, nearly came back from down 17 to win this game. And they tied it up.
Asia Wilson just stops all over that and hits this like jumper over both of them.

Speaker 13 It's just what sports are made of. And it was fantastic.
I mean, everybody that I'm watching it with, we're all screaming in our group chats and on threads and Twitter.

Speaker 13 And there's this commercial for Asia Wilson where I think it's, I don't know who, I think it's Cheryl Lee Ralph talking.

Speaker 13 Who does Asia think she is? Who does Asia think she is?

Speaker 13 She is who she thinks she is. And when she hit that shot, I was like, Asia is who she thinks she is.
It was incredible.

Speaker 18 What a game. What a game.

Speaker 19 Here's a question. You walked into a stash house and found it full of $20 million.

Speaker 19 How much would you steal? That's the question Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have to answer in Netflix's new movie, The Rip.

Speaker 19 They play a team team of Miami cops alongside Tiana Taylor, Stephen Yon, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Kyle Chandler, and Sazakaje, all trying to decide, are they the good guys or the bad guys?

Speaker 19 This movie is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride the entire time, keeping you guessing until the very end.

Speaker 10 Don't miss the rip!

Speaker 19 Only on Netflix on January 16th.

Speaker 20 This show is sponsored by BetterHelp. It's December, which means the holidays are here.
Again, some families have those big heartwarming traditions and then there are the rest of us.

Speaker 20 Just trying to keep things peaceful and make it through the month without any major incidents. But honestly, December can be tough.

Speaker 20 It gets dark early, everyone's stressed, there's a lot going on, and the whole most wonderful time of the year thing can feel more like pressure than joy.

Speaker 20 That's why it's important to take care of yourself, stay connected, and maybe create a few traditions that can actually help instead of adding to the chaos. Therapy can be one of those new traditions.

Speaker 4 Better help makes it simple.

Speaker 20 They've got over 30,000 licensed therapists and have helped more than 5 million people. With 12 plus years of experience, their matching system usually gets it right the first time.

Speaker 20 You can switch therapists anytime.

Speaker 12 No holiday awkwardness required.

Speaker 2 If you could stop somebody from breaking in before they got inside your house, why wouldn't you?

Speaker 2 Most old school systems only go off after somebody's already in your place opening your fridge petting your dog whatever at that point it's too late it's reactive simply safe is different it's proactive with this double layer of defense that helps stop crime before it even starts first their ai powered cameras spot potential threats outside not just in motion but an actual person lurking around in the bushes behind a tree in a car under the car wherever they may be then live monitoring agents jump in right away they talk to the person through the camera let them know they're on video and that cops are getting called if they don't leave that's how you stop crime before it starts.

Speaker 2 Personally, I trust Simply Safe to protect what matters most at my house: my wife, my daughter, my possessions, my things, my home, my safety, my peace. I trust that to Simply Safe.
That's it.

Speaker 2 That's the list. No long-term contracts, no hidden fees, and Simply Safe was just named the best home security in 2025 by U.S.
News and World Report. Right now, it's the best time to jump in.

Speaker 2 Simply Safe's last chance, Black Friday sale: 50% off any new system. Go to simply safe.com/slash DLB.
Again, that's simplysafe.com/slash DLB. There is no safe like SimplySafe.

Speaker 9 Don Lebatard.

Speaker 10 What is the worst part of the life?

Speaker 1 Stugats.

Speaker 5 The worst part of the life of life?

Speaker 9 This is the Don Lebatar show with the Stugats.

Speaker 16 Roz, what kind of leverage will Unrivaled present for the players as we're just a couple of months away from season two tipping off for Unrivaled and everyone assumes this is going to be a pretty nasty potential work stoppage and a collective bargaining process for the WMBA.

Speaker 21 I know the idea was secondary income and perhaps this point of inflation where you can actually leverage this thing.

Speaker 13 How was that a segue from everything we just talked about? Right?

Speaker 10 The action. He went right to the money.

Speaker 10 And he's trying to help me with point of inflection, I think.

Speaker 4 I meant inflection.

Speaker 10 I think inflection is what he meant, but he's not. It doesn't exist.

Speaker 13 I was like, I'm over here trying to sell y'all how amazing the product is.

Speaker 15 Yeah, right. Thank you.

Speaker 11 I watched the game.

Speaker 15 Ross, Ross, thank you.

Speaker 14 Ross, thank you for doing that.

Speaker 10 Ross, thank you for doing that.

Speaker 15 I watched a game. I watched the game.

Speaker 10 How did we do what he just did when you're talking about a magical moment? He's like, ah, three. Oh, let's talk about that.

Speaker 10 Let's talk about money.

Speaker 21 I thought about I covered it.

Speaker 12 Yeah, let's talk about the money and greed.

Speaker 11 Was it bad question outside of the inflection thing? Long question. It was.
Look, I was just trying to get it.

Speaker 12 He was trying to find it. He was trying to find it.

Speaker 14 No, absolutely.

Speaker 13 And it is an absolutely valid and important question. So I just, are we going to bounce it? Are we done with the game or you want to go into?

Speaker 10 It's such fair commentary by you.

Speaker 10 No, you just had a moment from the MVP of the league, okay, where she is being defended by two people because if they could have guarded her with 40, they would have tried, but they weren't going to be able to guard her because you saw greatness in real time.

Speaker 10 And it ought to be celebrated before we move on to, hey, the ladies are arguing about money again.

Speaker 13 Yeah, yeah. And I think like if I will get, I'll absolutely answer that very valid question.
But if there was one more thing that I thought was important too about the Aces

Speaker 13 and that victory, it's, you know, there's a lot of people that deserve to take a bow here for the aces.

Speaker 13 It's absolutely anchored by Asia Wilson, but I actually think this is Becky Hammond's probably most challenging coaching job in all her years here.

Speaker 13 And she's had some great seasons. You know, the Aces are on their way to winning three championships now in four years.

Speaker 13 But she had to be really flexible, changed her starting lineup, had a different coaching staff, lost over the years, very important critical players to the success of the Aces,

Speaker 13 tried different strategies.

Speaker 13 I just feel like she had to keep recreating her strategy, herself, this team, until they finally got here. Never forget that this Aces team was 500 on the season.

Speaker 13 People were saying they were out of it, guys. They were saying the Aces, okay, nice run, but they're done.

Speaker 13 It's the Lynx. It's the Liberty.
It's all these other teams. They had lost by 53 points to the Lynx on August 2nd.

Speaker 13 And that must have been like their breaking point, their low point, because from there, they rattled off 17 straight. And then this crazy run to the WNBA Finals and now looking like a championship.

Speaker 13 So, you know, at first it looked like Asia Wilson was dragging this team, but I think it's important to note that the Aces as a team improved gradually over the season to pull this out.

Speaker 13 And whether that was Jewel Lloyd,

Speaker 13 Chelsea Gray stepping up big here, Melissa Smith being big, Dana Evans being empowered on the bench.

Speaker 13 And I keep pointing, and Jackie Young being great all season, but Becky Hammond as the leader of this, really putting it together. She deserves some flowers.

Speaker 12 You know what? I don't even want the answer anymore.

Speaker 4 I'll just go back to setting my fantasy lineup. I like Sirokin between the pipes, Roy.

Speaker 10 She's the host of Good Follow. You can follow, listen, and subscribe to Good Follow on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Speaker 10 I wanted to talk about LeBron with her.

Speaker 10 I wanted to talk about LeBron with Billy as well, because I don't think we got his full thoughts on what it is that he just did yanking everybody around with Hennessy.

Speaker 10 What were your thoughts there, Roz?

Speaker 13 I was just like, not LeBron selling us liquor on a Tuesday afternoon. Like, there's just,

Speaker 13 it's literally the middle of the day, LeBron.

Speaker 18 Like, what the heck?

Speaker 13 Like, nothing matters, or don't you have to send your kids to school? Like, actually, where I think LeBron is right now, it's kind of like a fun part of his career.

Speaker 13 You know how people, when they get older, they get funny. Like, I feel like.
LeBron's in on the jokes with us now.

Speaker 13 And now I think he knows that, you know, we think that there's a joke that he just makes things up or that he doesn't know the lyrics to songs or that he's attention thirsty.

Speaker 13 So like, you know, now it's like he's playing into it. I feel like it, and I kind of like this version of LeBron where he's just like messing with us.

Speaker 10 Oh, but that'd be

Speaker 10 funny, though, if he were just saying, I'm thirsty. I need Hennessy.
That would be funny. The way that he did it, not funny.

Speaker 13 Oh, you didn't like it.

Speaker 10 Well, I just, I thought that trolling us that way, being that commercial, was grotesquely commercial.

Speaker 1 Like, LeBron does that. Like, you're just pretending you're surprised.
I'm actually surprised that, like, he wasted the, I'm making my second decision on this.

Speaker 12 Like he must have got a bag to do this, right?

Speaker 1 Because like for sure this has been pitched forever and he's like, nah, I'm not going to do that. And he used it now.

Speaker 13 I feel you 100% and was feeling the same way. In fact, I've been seeing LeBron doing commercials for things that I always thought was maybe for like a lesser tier of superstar.

Speaker 13 Like, you know, he's doing sports gambling apps, ads, and like all this stuff.

Speaker 17 We love those.

Speaker 11 We do love those.

Speaker 3 We love them. We are.

Speaker 14 Yeah. We love that partner especially.

Speaker 10 Yes, especially the ones he's doing.

Speaker 15 Oh, look at me being helpful, huh?

Speaker 13 Whatever happened to Roz?

Speaker 11 She never came back on the DLS show. Roz, see you later.

Speaker 10 On that note, I'm going to get no more opinions from you. If you want to see her, you can see her and listen to her on GitHub.

Speaker 16 We miss CBA talk, huh? Roz.

Speaker 15 See you later, Roz.

Speaker 11 We're talking to you.

Speaker 10 We're talking to you.

Speaker 16 We like

Speaker 15 DraftKings Ward.

Speaker 2 All right, so apparently everyone is launching their own AI agents now. You get an agent.
No, you get an agent.

Speaker 2 They're automatting tasks, running workflows, making decisions, and occasionally absolutely wrecking your day. You know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 An agent deletes the wrong files, changes something you've never approved, or just goes completely off script, like it's trying to improvise its way out of a paperbag.

Speaker 2 And suddenly, you're the one stuck trying to figure out what went wrong unless you're using Rubrik Agent Cloud. Because here's the thing, AI is moving fast, like really fast.

Speaker 2 Rubrik Agent Cloud is the only platform that lets you monitor, govern, and rewind AI agent actions.

Speaker 2 One platform that lets you unleash more agents faster without fear that they're going to burn the place down. You get full visibility into what your agents are doing.
You can enforce guardrails.

Speaker 2 You can actually quantify the risk. And if something breaks, you just rewind it.
Like an undo button, but for AI. And that rewind happens in minutes, not hours or days.

Speaker 2 And if your business relies on AI agents, you need the ability to monitor, govern, and rewind their actions. Right now, Lebatard show listeners get exclusive early access to Rubrik Agent Cloud.

Speaker 2 Head to rubric.com. That's R-U-B-R-I-K.com.

Speaker 9 Don Lebatard.

Speaker 7 Can I tell you something?

Speaker 1 I don't know, it was maybe like a month ago, and I decided to watch Pitch Clock.

Speaker 7 And I told Jeremy, Stugats, this is a good show you're doing.

Speaker 9 This is the Don Lebatar show with the Stugats.

Speaker 1 I still haven't calculated who the winner of all of these games was. You've been saying that for a while.
I said I was going to do it from the regular season ones, and I still haven't done it.

Speaker 1 I don't think you're going to like what you find out.

Speaker 24 I think I'm going to go ahead and wait until after the postseason and hope that I can make a little bit of a run. Let's get going.

Speaker 25 Pop Lotori finds out.

Speaker 3 Welcome to the Pitch Clock.

Speaker 1 Here's the pitch, a two-part baseball segment. Combining a nostalgic baseball trivia game and an interview with an expert.

Speaker 3 This is the pitch clock.

Speaker 1 Playoff baseball continues. Playoff mode.
I'm not doing Harry Carey anymore.

Speaker 5 I am focused on whooping Jeremy's ass. All right.

Speaker 1 I guess that's where things stand at the moment.

Speaker 3 It's me and Chris. We're back.

Speaker 5 Hi, everybody.

Speaker 12 Ah, look at him.

Speaker 1 It's what we're doing. We're playing some trivia games and we'll have Ad Nan Vurke with us momentarily to talk all things playoff baseball.
But a really awesome week in between the last two episodes.

Speaker 1 Ethan Badowski at home with what we have counted are seven different Gator insignias behind him in some different capacity.

Speaker 5 Even the microphone.

Speaker 1 He's wearing his Cubs hat. Ethan, what is our game going to be today?

Speaker 17 All right, so the Mariners won their first playoff game at home since the 2001 ALDS. It was game five against the Cleveland then Indians.
So in front of you, there are two rosters.

Speaker 17 Now, Chris Cody, I'm going to ask you a question. Trident or spear? What's the better weapon?

Speaker 3 Trident.

Speaker 17 All right, so you are going to be the Mariners, and Jeremy, you are going to be the Cleveland baseball franchise. Thank you.

Speaker 25 As you can see, we're flipping open these rosters.

Speaker 17 Yes, there are, it's a field with numbers on them. It's a simple game.
You've got three strikes. You've got to name all the players by their numbers on the field for game five of the 2001 ALDS.

Speaker 24 Boy, Vei.

Speaker 17 Yeah, and just a clarification,

Speaker 17 we don't have the DHs. It's just the outfield position.
So the pitcher and then all of the outfield positions.

Speaker 18 Oh, God.

Speaker 1 I'm done. You're going to win.

Speaker 17 Jeremy, I'm going to let you lead off. Okay.
So give me your first guess. Give me a number and a position for everybody.
Yeah. And then tell me who it is.

Speaker 1 All right. So while I'm looking at this field for Cleveland, I see number seven in center field.

Speaker 1 And I'm hoping this is the guy who I believe it is, which is one of my favorite players to watch at this time. Is that Kenny Lofton?

Speaker 17 That is, in fact, Kenny Lofton.

Speaker 1 Jeremy, you are on the board. Man, this Guardian's

Speaker 11 a lot of easy names on here. I wish I had them.

Speaker 25 I don't know if I have easy names here.

Speaker 1 I have five out of nine that I feel good about.

Speaker 17 Okay, so give me your first one, Cody.

Speaker 24 Go him up.

Speaker 1 Okay, 51 each Euro, right field.

Speaker 17 That is obviously obviously correct. He was the rookie of the year, and I believe the MVP that season as well.

Speaker 1 Okay, I'm going to go with the second baseman for Cleveland, number 12, Roberto Alomar.

Speaker 17 That is correct, Jeremy. You are two for two.

Speaker 5 Pretty obvious. Okay.

Speaker 1 I'm really, it's like, there's a few where it's like, okay, that's clearly who it is.

Speaker 5 It's going to get to it.

Speaker 1 Once I get beyond, I think, four names here, I'm not sure I have any. Making our way around the outfield, center field, 44, we'll go Mike Cameron.

Speaker 17 That is correct. Yes, Mike Cameron.

Speaker 15 What

Speaker 1 a day of baseball. Four elimination games yesterday.
We had one team advance. We've got Adnan Virk with us, same as last week, our postseason reporter here with the pitch clock.

Speaker 1 And Adnan was also the post-game reporter for MLB Network in one of those games. That was in New York for the Blue Jays and the Yankees.
And that's where we'll start Adnan.

Speaker 1 Despite Aaron Judge's best efforts, and I don't care what Billy Gill has to say about this, Aaron Judge's best efforts. The Yankees go down in four games.

Speaker 1 They allowed 50 hits across four games, and the Blue Jays didn't even have their best hitter, arguably, in Beau Buchette. Vladdie Jr., he did crush those Yankees.

Speaker 1 We could easily lament, Adnan, what the Yankees didn't do, but I would rather celebrate those Toronto Blue Jays here.

Speaker 1 So what made them so difficult for this Yankees team and allowed them to advance to the ALCS for the first time since 2016?

Speaker 26 Jeremy, good to see you as always. First off, shout out to the fact you're wearing a shirt, Jasper Canada.
Yes, I am.

Speaker 26 I pick Alberta right now.

Speaker 14 I love it.

Speaker 26 It's a great day for Canada. There's no question about it.
First time ever, the Jays and Yankees faced off in the postseason, and Toronto is clearly the better team.

Speaker 26 I mean, both these teams had 94 wins, but the Jays and Yankees had to have, it was a matchup that was favorable for Toronto. And I'm with you.

Speaker 26 We could point at the fact that the Yankees' offense was popcorn when they needed it most. But really, I think I credit Toronto and just say they were a better team, especially offensively.

Speaker 26 I mean, they just murdered Yankee pitching, whether it was

Speaker 26 Freed or Rodon, no matter who it was. 34 runs over the first four games of the postseason, fourth most ever for a team, particularly at home with 23 runs.

Speaker 26 But on the road yesterday, I felt like this was a game the Yankees would win. Schlittler pitching was so dominant against the Red Sox.
And it's a bullpen game for Toronto.

Speaker 26 How much criticism have you heard about Toronto's bullpen? And yet they stepped up big time. I mean, that was an incredible effort in a bullpen game.

Speaker 26 As you know, it's fun to watch because you're like, if one, if one single link in the chain falls apart the whole thing falls apart but instead they stepped up and like you said offensively vladi was unbelievable i mean he at 529 three homers in the series he drives in the first room of game four and ernie clement zander

Speaker 26 every time jeremy there's a guy that steps up to you go what ernie clement hit 643 and he slugged 929 in the series it was unbelievable you know almost 48 000 fans and as you said i was there on the field i got to talk to vlad after the game i got to talk to ernie clement alejandra kirk and uh there's a ton of jays fans still in the crowd i mean i was there an hour later.

Speaker 26 They're singing O'Canna, and they're fired up, and it's great for Toronto. First time in the ALCS since 2016.
What a ride.

Speaker 1 It's a really cool moment for them. And look, they were the team that won the AL East.
They're the deserving team from the AL East to ultimately advance to the ALCS.

Speaker 1 But let's stick in that American League ad Nan. I want to talk to you about a game five that's happening because you head to Seattle, right?

Speaker 1 Where you'll have the Tigers who went down 3-0 in game four, then rally for nine straight runs. They tied it in the fifth.
They break it open in the sixth. And now we're back to the game one starters.

Speaker 1 You got the probable Cy Young winner and Tarek Skubel. You got George Kirby for the Mariners.

Speaker 1 Skubel, who looked like this at Seattle University, starting in Seattle, of course, hoping to look more like this. Today for the Detroit Tigers.

Speaker 1 What do you expect here, Adnan, as the result in this game five? And what do you believe will ultimately be the deciding factor in this winner-go-home game?

Speaker 26 I saw the Hall of Famer John Smoltz in the press box yesterday.

Speaker 26 Smoltzy and I, former colleagues at MLB Network, and we were laughing about this situation because, again, John with ties to the Detroit area in Michigan growing up, he said, you know, this is such a great scenario for the Tigers in that you win a game with Terrick Scubal in the mail.

Speaker 26 Like there's no better scenario for them. And he pointed out, he goes, Seattle has touched him up a little bit, especially in the regular season.

Speaker 26 But in that playoff start, he goes, yeah, the only two home runs you get up is Polanco. He goes, both those are change-ups.
So stay away from that pitch to that guy.

Speaker 26 And you got to feel great about your chances after the Tigers. You win at Camerica first time in more than a month.

Speaker 18 I mean, they went 0-8 after Scoobel's win over the White Sox.

Speaker 26 They've been on the road so long. And as you see, the offense stepped up.
Riley Green and Javier Baez home ringing a 4-run-six. I love the quote from A.J.

Speaker 26 Hinch, who said, one of the easiest and most exciting things I get to do is hand the ball to the best pitcher in baseball.

Speaker 26 I mean, we're getting on a plane across the country a lot of optimism because of Tarek Schubal. Nine runs, the most they'd scored since game six of the 68 World Series when they scored 13.

Speaker 26 And I think for Seattle, you have to be lamenting what happened. You're like, you wanted to win this series in four, and now.
You have to face Scoobel. You did it once, Jeremy.
I cannot see.

Speaker 26 I cannot see the Tigers losing two Tarek Scoobel starts. There's no way.
Tigers, J's, ALCS.

Speaker 23 Wow, Tigers, Jays, ALCS.

Speaker 1 That'll be some bud baseball.

Speaker 1 So in a few years from now, the first baseman for Cleveland would be Travis Hafner wearing this number. But at the time,

Speaker 1 one of the great home run hitters of all time. We've got Jim Tomey over the first base.

Speaker 17 That is correct. Yes.

Speaker 1 Man,

Speaker 1 these are fun memories over here.

Speaker 27 That's what I wanted, man.

Speaker 1 All right, moving around the outfield in left field. Number 28, Raul Ibanye.
I love that you're just so locked in that you're just... Oh, that's a finger.

Speaker 18 That is incorrect.

Speaker 25 Oh, all right.

Speaker 1 I now maybe have a chance.

Speaker 17 The starting left fielder in this game for the Seattle Mariners was a guy by the name of Stan Javier.

Speaker 1 Didn't Ibanez wear number 28?

Speaker 17 I think he was 29.

Speaker 24 29. Oh, Come on.
Man, that just...

Speaker 23 29?

Speaker 1 It just seemed right.

Speaker 1 In left field for Cleveland,

Speaker 1 a young... That's a tough one.
Manny Ramirez.

Speaker 24 Wearing 46. That is incorrect.

Speaker 25 No.

Speaker 25 Really?

Speaker 23 Number 46.

Speaker 24 Yeah,

Speaker 1 I thought early in his career that was possible. Who's the left fielder?

Speaker 17 The left fielder is Marty Cordova.

Speaker 5 Didn't he pull...

Speaker 6 Okay, I don't want to say anything.

Speaker 1 So let's also, let's make something clear here.

Speaker 1 We are halfway through this round as I've just gotten to one strike because I went first. So

Speaker 1 now Chris is up with an opportunity to really even things out.

Speaker 1 I'll go starting pitcher number 50, Jamie Moyer.

Speaker 17 Nice. One of our favorite names ever.

Speaker 17 That is the man.

Speaker 1 I'm going to have trouble here.

Speaker 1 What I'm trying to figure out is,

Speaker 1 is the double play combination that I'm thinking of with this team, this franchise?

Speaker 1 And I think I'm going to have to guess it just simply because I'm not sure I know a single other name on this team. Is Omar Verskell the shortstop? That's obvious.

Speaker 25 That is correct.

Speaker 18 Yes.

Speaker 25 You could keep saying it's obvious.

Speaker 1 I was six years old. All right, but he played in 97.
He was there like his whole career.

Speaker 1 I wasn't sure.

Speaker 25 Number 13.

Speaker 24 Just leave me alone. I'm a little older.
Okay. I'm a little older than you.

Speaker 25 Yeah. Okay.

Speaker 27 I know. Go ahead.
That's fine. No, no, no.
That's fine. All right.

Speaker 6 Go ahead.

Speaker 1 Second base, number 29.

Speaker 1 The brother of Yankees manager.

Speaker 4 We're going to go with Brett Boone.

Speaker 24 Remember when I got

Speaker 1 on the nose? Yeah, was that Brett Boone that I got wrong a couple weeks ago? Or no,

Speaker 1 that was Giles.

Speaker 25 I'm cooking here. I actually got two more.

Speaker 25 In trouble.

Speaker 1 So I can't guess. You ask me if we were doing this game on the current day, Mariners, I would know Cal Raleigh.

Speaker 1 Let's go ahead and move to the National League games, Adenan, And those are both happening today,

Speaker 1 just a few hours from now, if you're watching this on the pitch clock. So the early games, 6 o'clock Eastern.
It's the Phillies and the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 Philadelphia hoping to stick around with their best pitcher and Christopher Sanchez on the mound. They'll take on Tyler Glass now.
And this series has actually been very close.

Speaker 1 Dodgers won the first two games by the skin of their teeth, really. Roki Sasaki, of all people, closing out those games for the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 And then the Phillies Bats wake up a couple homers for Schwarber last night. So, how does Philadelphia get a win today against Glass Now and force a game five and maybe even win this series?

Speaker 1 Is that possible?

Speaker 26 Well, it's crazy to think about, man. Like, we keep seeing how great the bank is as far as homefield.
I don't want to hear it anymore.

Speaker 26 The Phillies have now lost five of the last six postseason games at home, but on the road, stepped up big time. How about Schwarber? He needed it big time.

Speaker 26 I mean, the NL's leading home run hitter, 56 homers. He snaps an 0 for 8s get in the NLDS.
That home run went 455 feet over the pavilion. Just the second I ever knew that.

Speaker 26 Willie Starger did that back in 1969, 1973. So clearly the offense stepped up.
Yalmoto did not have his good fastball. They went at 8-2.

Speaker 26 In terms of this burns, listen, Sanchez has been awesome, as you know. He's going to be top three in the Se Young voting.

Speaker 26 So for the Phillies, I feel great about the fact that Christopher Sanchez is there. I wasn't sure about Rob Thompson's strategy of going Nolan Suarez, but it certainly worked out to their advantage.

Speaker 26 As you said, win a game four in LA, then a game five, you're back at home, which necessarily hasn't been an advantage. But do like the Phillies to win today.

Speaker 26 Glassdown is great, but Sanchez has been one of the best pitchers in baseball. If they can scratch it a couple runs, the one weakness you and I both know, the Dodgers, is their bullpen.

Speaker 26 And very smartly, Dave Roberts has been saying, Well, I'll just use my starters to get out. Well, it didn't work out yesterday for Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 26 Sasaki's been a great story, but he almost got burned using Blake Trinan in game one with a 4-1 lead. So I think it's going to be a challenge for Doc at times to get out from his bullpen.

Speaker 26 If Glasnow goes late, it's a moot point, but I think it's going to be tough to scratch out runs against Sanchez. I like the Phillies to win.

Speaker 1 Game five in Philadelphia would be electric.

Speaker 1 That's what I'm rooting for to go five just simply because baseball, Kyle Schwarber last night, by the way, with his two homers, passed Bernie Williams for the third most postseason home runs of all time.

Speaker 1 He trails just Jose Altuve and number one, Manny Ramirez.

Speaker 1 Later game admin. Is it Wrigley Field with the Cubbies winning by a run last night, forcing game four? That was in part thanks to Brad Keller.
Man,

Speaker 1 what a job he did out of the bullpen for them. But the Brewers beat the heck out out of the Cubs in the first couple of games of this series.
So is this more, I mean, is this a matter of semantics?

Speaker 1 Like, are the Brewers going to advance tonight?

Speaker 1 And if you believe they'll win tonight, are you starting to believe that they can actually win in NLCS against whether it's the, you know, the Dodgers or the Phillies?

Speaker 26 Yeah, I do think the Brewers will win their first series since 2018. So that's a long time coming.
And I just want to mention, as you said, what a great job by Keller.

Speaker 26 I mean, Jake Bowers comes up after he had the RBA single in the fourth and leadoff drive in the seventh. I mean, base is loaded.
He strikes out. Huge spot there for Keller, no doubt about it.

Speaker 26 And obviously, I mean, all the offense we're getting to see in the series in the first inning.

Speaker 26 Craig Callison, the great lining, because I'm going to start telling my team it's the first inning every inning.

Speaker 26 That's what they score, whether it's Michael Bush or Peeker Armstrong, the two-out swing, four-run first inning for Chicago. So expect a lot of runs early.
Beth the over.

Speaker 26 And then after that, we'll see. I think Milwaukee wins it.
I think they're the better team. I think the matchups favor them, particularly pitching-wise.

Speaker 26 You really see for Chicago how much they're missing Cade Horton. If they had one more horse, horse, so to speak, they'd be in better shape.

Speaker 26 I'm not quite yet at the point of believing the Brewers are going to go all the way. I still think the Dodgers or the Phillies are the favorites, Jeremy, but I'm happy for Milwaukee, man.

Speaker 26 They've shown a lot of moxie, especially these first two games, scoring a ton of runs. You know, Chicago wins that game at Wrigley, but game four, I do think the Brewers do prevail.

Speaker 1 John Mulaney will not be happy. He said playball at Wrigley Field yesterday.
He's actually doing stand-up there, first stand-up comedian.

Speaker 24 And I'm just mentioning that.

Speaker 1 Because he's my favorite comedian. One of my favorite baseball people in the world, Adnan Virk.
Thank Thank you so much. Hey, man.
Lots of great baseball ahead. We'll see you in the weeks to come.

Speaker 1 Looking forward to it here on the pitch clock. Let's get back to our game with me and Chris.

Speaker 1 So there's a guy I want to guess here,

Speaker 3 but it like it. Oh, they have Rodriguez.
Julio Rodriguez.

Speaker 1 It feels wrong. It feels wrong to guess him simply because it's like it's a duplication.

Speaker 8 But

Speaker 1 is it possible that their catcher was Sandy Alamar Jr.?

Speaker 27 That is incorrect.

Speaker 24 I don't think.

Speaker 1 didn't two doesn't look right for him, though.

Speaker 1 No, that's I just wasn't sure. I didn't know where to go.
All right, that's two strikes for me.

Speaker 15 Strike two.

Speaker 23 Damn.

Speaker 17 Einar Diaz was the catcher on this day for the Cleveland

Speaker 17 baseball franchise.

Speaker 25 That was.

Speaker 1 I have the two corner infielder spots that I feel decent about. I only have one strike, so it doesn't really matter which one I go with first.
I'm more confident.

Speaker 1 I think I'm going to go with Helmethead at first base. Yeah, nice.
Number five, Jonathan Olerude. I know it's John Olerude.

Speaker 1 What what if it's it is john olerude i know i was making a joke there that you better get out of here i called him helmet well i was gonna say manuel rivirez so

Speaker 27 all right i'm gonna

Speaker 16 there's no way

Speaker 1 22 in right field ah no um

Speaker 1 there's one guy from that era that i think of as like a right fielder who wore 22 a lot i'm pretty sure he was never a guardian though is this raul mondesi

Speaker 17 it is not raul mondesi jeremy bernis jeremy

Speaker 17 you are out It is Juan Gonzalez.

Speaker 1 All right, so that being said, since I lost...

Speaker 25 Well, hold on. Let me have two strikes.

Speaker 24 Let me just

Speaker 24 have one strike.

Speaker 17 Yeah, I want to see how Cody can keep it going.

Speaker 1 Third base, Adrian Beltray, 25.

Speaker 27 Yeah. No, a little early.

Speaker 17 Third base is David Bell here.

Speaker 22 Ooh. And then

Speaker 1 I don't know number four at short and six catcher.

Speaker 17 Mark McElmore was the shortstop, and Dan Wilson, their current manager,

Speaker 17 is the catcher behind the plate in this case.

Speaker 1 Can I ask you, there's no world in which 31 on the hill was Jason Marquis, right?

Speaker 25 I don't know why

Speaker 24 I couldn't get that name out of my head.

Speaker 17 It was Chuck Finley who started his career with the California Angels in like 1986.

Speaker 18 I learned that.

Speaker 1 I picture Chuck Finley, and I don't know if it's with Cleveland or with the Angels, but I picture him with a vest.

Speaker 1 I don't know why, but no matter what, I must have had a baseball card of Chuck Finley in which he had like a pinstripe vest or something of the like.

Speaker 25 Chuck Finley. Imagine that.

Speaker 24 Chris wins. People wear vests in these days.

Speaker 1 God, this sucks.

Speaker 23 Chris wins again.

Speaker 1 I'm never going to count the results.
