🎮 Megabonk: The New roguelite phenomenon EXPLAINED
We dive into Megabonk, a surprise Steam indie hit that’s taken Twitch and the charts by storm. With 82K+ CCU, $2M in its first two weeks, and streamer hype driving growth, the trio explores what makes Megabonk work and whether it could scale to mobile.
Key insights:
Roguelite 3D blend of Vampire Survivors and Risk of Rain 2.
Deeper systems: map objectives, shrines, infinite inventory, banish/skip mechanics.
Core humor: banana-rang weapon, Mega Chad character, quirky item design.
“Screwed-up moment” for roguelites - moving past 2D isometric clones.
Shroud and other top Twitch streamers boosted it to 114K peak viewers.
Viral builds (level 500+ with full-screen bananas, nukes, shrines) = highly watchable.
Game thrives because it’s fun to watch as well as play.
Day 11: ~300K units sold, $2M revenue (discounted launch price €8.28).
Vampire Survivors never reached this CCU peak despite 23M lifetime units.
Risk of Rain 2 = 141M gross but publisher-backed. Megabonk is solo-dev mystery.
Obvious rewarded ad placements (refresh button, rerolls, revive).
Gacha for gear/characters could add whale-driven revenue.
Estimates: ~$270K/month ad revenue if ported straight to F2P. With gacha: far higher.
Sustaining Twitch attention requires updates or new systems.
Still, design depth is strong - the “systems combination” is what competitors will copy.
Takeaway: Megabonk is the new roguelite phenomenon: deep systems, streamer fuel, and endless monetization potential if (when) it comes to mobile.

Numbers and this is really astonishing.
So,
this already hit K
today, CCU, yeah, CCU on Steam, which is amazing.
It's just hitting record every single day.
This bigger bump was Sunday, that's why this one was smaller than the previous one.
But other than that, you see, like, it's still occurring.
It's 4 a.m.
and we're rolling the dice.
Matei drops, knowledge made of gold and ice.
Felix with ads making those coins rise.
Jack up designs, worlds chasing the sky.
With a two and and a half gamers, the midnight crew.
Talking UA adverts and game design too.
Mateish, Felix, Shaku, bringing the insight.
We're rocking those vibes till the early daylight.
The K-U-A, master eyes on the prize.
Tracking data through the cyberspace skies.
Felix stacks colors like a wizard in disguise.
Jackups crafting realms left us to the highs.
Two and a half gamers, talking smack.
Slow, hockey, sick, got your back.
Ads are beautiful, they like the way.
Click it fast, don't delay.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Hello, hello.
Hello.
Hello.
And welcome to another mega episode of the Two and a Half Gamers Podcast, where we can stay ahead of all the gaming trends, not just mobile.
Mister, we can stay two and a half to
two and a half seconds.
Ahead of the industry.
Nice try, though.
Nice try.
Nice try.
Take it over from there.
It's okay.
Yeah.
Hands.
So let's stay two and a half hands ahead of the gaming industry and play Megabone or Megabone, whatever game we are covering now because it's the third biggest game on Twitch.
And not the biggest game on Twitch.
It's just like currently.
I said third.
Time of recording.
Yep.
Yeah, which is fine.
Nobody cares.
It is what it is.
And we are
doing this because it's an interesting case, as usual.
And my name is Matie Ilancharic.
I'm Felix Proberg.
And I'm Ja Cum Bremier.
Sorry,
I just thought I'm bringing your
arm again.
There goes the intro.
If we're your host, I bring my arm again.
Sorry, yeah, we are your hosts.
Hello.
Okay, Can you share the screen, show the numbers, and then we can say how amazing this is and then go sleep?
Or are we going to play?
Yeah, we're going to play.
You're going to play.
So we want to play first and then sleep.
Let's play first, huh?
Just make sure you have the banana ring.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Okay.
It's like pretty good.
Like, I played a few rounds with it.
But anyway, so this is the game.
You're going to play first.
It's a theme in the PC hit, by the way.
If it wasn't obvious from the description,
because we didn't say anything about the game.
So, why are we covering this?
Because it's all the rave currently and all the news and all the numbers.
No, no, no, no, no.
We are covering it because I fucking love is on the second spot.
By the way, these guys are cheaters, it seems.
We'll see.
Why?
Because Jakob is
so
good.
Because you said so.
We'll see.
We'll see.
Yesterday it was a little bit different, but yeah, let's see.
Yeah, it's that's what I would say.
It was a little bit different because it was yesterday, and this is actually a game that lives and have real players.
So, Megabonk is a single-player.
I wouldn't say shoot them up.
It's like
you have to say shoot them up.
That's right, shoot them up category.
It's like a rogue light.
Shoot them up.
Rogue lights shoot them up.
Roguelite 3D combination of Empire Survivors and Risk of Rain 2.
That would be the best definition.
I think this is the screwdom moment for Roguelides on Steam, where most of the Roguelides were just very 2D and isometric, and everything was
just very Vampire Survivor style.
This is the real iteration.
That's why it's so good.
You know what?
My name is Felix Brauberg, and I endorse that message.
That was very elegantly put.
That's a very, very good.
If you listen to this podcast, you know that that was a good statement that's a very good statement a screwdom moment oh yeah yeah so for those who don't know screwdom is the game that took screw jam if you don't know screwdom get the fuck out of here
you shouldn't be listening to this podcast if you don't know screwdom
for all people coming from steam yeah we have also episodes on that anyway
we all five of them pause that and listen to it immediately yeah so let's play
so there's a character selection each of the characters have their signature weapon but you can get these weapons anyway.
Like
the other character, can you play Mega Chat, please?
Or Monkey?
Mega Chat?
I'm gonna play Monkey.
Monke Monkey is pretty good.
He has the banana rank that feels good.
I don't believe no one's come up with that before, because it looks like a boomerang, but no one's made the association with the banana.
Humor is very good in this game, I just say.
It's like pretty good.
I too enjoy humor.
Viaku does not.
So I'm not sure.
Anyway,
so there's there's the weapon but as I said like these weapons if you're going to unlocks like
every single character can have these weapons if you unlock them eventually so that's not that big of a thing it's just that the characters start with those weapons so they're guaranteed to have those
then we have the signature ability this is the important one because this is specific and unique to each of the characters it's not that something that like these other guys can get they just can't yes
so for instance megachai wields the most powerful jawline
Exactly.
It's just so good.
So, there we go.
Reminds me of Johnny Bravo.
Johnny Bravo,
Johnny Bravo.
The monkey guy can climb up walls, also gain two plus two max HP per level, which is super strong.
Again, lots of these characters have like specific stat being level per level.
For instance, clang gets crit chance,
bush gets crit damage, which is even better.
Fox gets a lot
so on and so forth.
So, yeah, let's say anyway, let's start with Monkey.
Uh, two stages for now that I unlock.
I think I don't know if there are more, seems to me like just easy to for now.
So, let's go with forest and tier two.
Uh, the important part is that, again,
this differs a lot from vampire survivor.
So, you'll see because they have like so many stages, different areas, whatever.
This works differently.
So, let's go into the game.
Let me get this thing out.
Wait, wait, wait, before we start this, hello, Mache.
Is that PVX partners calling?
Oh, I think so.
Because let's be honest, UA data can feel like a black box.
That's why PVX Lambda is calling you right now.
It's a game changer because you plug it into your MMP and boom, within an hour, you get clean and clear, ROS benchmarks, retention insights, even a forecast of whether you're ready for funding.
No fluff, no dashboards from hell, just real answers.
It's 100% free.
Head to pvxpartners.com/slash slash lambda and get your growth strategy on point again pvxpartners.com slash lambda
and here you go
you need to answer that call right away
so we start the map as i said we just have the boomerang which is slowly killing the goblins
boomerang is a banana ranger banana rank
sorry uh and then the goblins drop the crystals as usual by the roguelite loop you collect the crystals and you see on the top bar on the screen which is my level.
If I collect a lot of those, I level up, and then I need to select a new ability.
Immediately, here we see some differentiation between
vampire survivors and like
this game, where here
these weapons don't combine and evolve.
In vampire survivors, you want to kind of get the right,
you know, the combinations, two categories, like the main weapons and the auxiliary weapons.
Combining them them properly gives you super evolvability, whatever.
Not the case here at all.
Never.
You just get these things, you get them, that's it.
They don't evolve.
They just level up.
Which is absolutely clear when you see this screen.
Yeah, because there's no recipe book in the computer.
Yeah, the thing here,
this is one of the big differentiators here, that here you have much more control, I think, over the randomizer, because you can not only refresh, you can skip, but you can also banish, which is super powerful.
Because by banish, what does it mean?
Mean that if I select an ability, I completely remove it from the randomizer, it won't come up back again at the game ever.
So, that's good.
And there's even an item in the game that's called the toggler that can remove the thing from your basically deck or like the stuff that you have unlocked.
So, you can remove stuff that's, let's say, not helpful to your character.
For instance, this character is built on hp because he's monkey he gets a lot of hp therefore stuff uh
because if you don't know monkeys get a lot of hp exactly because he has two
hp per level that's his that's his unique ability and he can climb walls but there are skills in the game that like scale based on hp so let's say for every 100 hp you get 20 of damage so on and so forth and projectiles because he has the banana rank we want more projectiles of banana so that's that's like one of our scaling abilities anyway uh bone is pretty pretty good sniper, but anyway, I don't think so.
I don't want you know this.
Aura, this is the one that we really want.
Okay, so we're slowly killing these guys, and now that we have 30 gold, we can go and finally open first of our chests.
And this is again the big differentiator here.
There are items, and you can have items in the inventory, and there's pretty much infinite inventory and infinite items.
This is the RPG part of the game where you collect a lot of stuff that goes from common to literally legendary that gives you so much advantage.
And honestly, it's even more important to collect items than to collect the skills actually, because items just are super, super powerful.
Anyway, let's go banish region tomb that's like really shitty.
Then you have these map objectives, which, for instance, this is a shrine that you need to literally like
dominate or whatever hold the position there can be move away from the mobs that gives you permanent bonuses You see the stats on the right here, which are my stats.
It's getting pretty hardcore, by the way, because there's a lot of scaling, a lot of RPG elements.
And again, I need to choose which of these things I can get.
It's like a
skill randomizer.
Sometimes you get rare stuff, legendary stuff, whatever.
This time we just get three common skills.
We pick damage.
This is great.
Why is this not in the mobile, like
roguelike games?
I'll tell you how this will be done.
Like, let me just finish the whole thing.
There's a power up here.
There was a magnet uh okay we want aura definitely
uh
a little bit more xp by the way our objective here is to find the boss portal on the map so we need to search the map here and actually find the boss portal summon the boss and then kill it and move to the other portal slowly you see uh i can't open the chest it's here on the top right what's the cost for the next chest because it slowly scales as you go but eventually oh there's a elite guy, eventually, yeah, he could drop a chest.
That's great.
So, once you kill these guys,
they drop also a chest again, which gives you more items.
You go stronger, for instance, 10% chance to open chest for free.
That's great, that's what we want.
Yeah, now we can open also this chest.
Now, we have evasionary, which is shit.
Yeah, let's eat that hamburger.
And because we're monkey, we can scale to the shrine very easily.
Oops,
there we go.
Yeah, but you recuperate by standing still, right?
So, you summon the fire, no?
HP regen is shit, so like I would rather need lifesteal or like some other stuff.
But yeah, you can, you can, there are many ways to how to how to get HP back here.
Eventually, you can literally get unkillable, but uh, I'll show you later.
Anyway, so let's let's let's get the shrine here, finally,
and then
yeah, see XP gain is very strong because you level up faster.
Difficulty is very strong because it means there are more mobs coming at you, which means you again level up faster, get more items.
You get the XP gain this time.
Then there are these like uh
how do you call them trade-off shrines for instance this one I didn't even know what this does.
I think it's curse you and gives you more rewards or something.
And there's difficulty shrine somewhere.
By the way, the minimap is super handy on the right because I see like where there are chest pots and like all these other things.
For instance, pods are very important.
You need to break them.
They give you XP and gold.
So this one, this one, we won't.
See, there's an HP.
There, there, that's what we wanted.
Not
really.
Project of speed, not escape.
All of them are shit
for our build.
Lots of stuff is shit.
Like, yeah, there's lots of
build.
So, how many, how many guides did you already read?
Like, six.
Um, yeah, there you go.
Okay, of course.
There's a shrine there.
We need to pick that up.
No, it's really, it's really interesting how you can't just play the game because it's fun.
You just need to
be efficient.
No, no, no, no, no, no, you just need someone to tell you how to play a game.
That's that's I don't need someone to tell me, I just like want to know what's the most optimal way and what people are talking about.
I think we established quite long ago how different we play games, yeah, exactly.
Anyway, so at some point, it summons bosses here because you have 10 minutes for the whole run here.
I mean, like the this stage of a level, it gets the okay, it gets the stone golem again to one because I think I brought the power up.
But yeah, we can guide him up slowly, not a problem here.
Yeah, you're gonna die.
You're gonna fight.
Yeah, not gonna die.
They don't even have rewarded ads to revive you.
What?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Rewarded ads, I think they could work here pretty well.
I'll get to it.
Super well.
Yeah, they could work.
No, no, no, no.
The more important part here is the combination of the systems, actually.
That's what's going to be copied.
Not really this specific game, but the combination of those systems that this game is using.
That's definitely getting copied.
Shrines is genius, yeah.
Yeah, and this is this is from the risk of rain game.
This is is not vampire survivors.
Because, again, we have 3D, which means we can do all these other interesting things
in like a moment.
We take this one, definitely.
In the 3D vector, we can have jumping skills.
There's even stuff like more jumping.
That's what you like.
Yeah, of course.
Get HP region.
Okay, whatever.
We need that.
Yeah, we need to move our ass because like
really need to find the portal at some point slowly there's more enemies being thrown at you and it's really interesting to see it's not just uh
Typical webpower survivors where just like stuff coming from the screen on you because you can you know jump climb walls to like tricky stuff There's a little bit of fall damage, but it's won't really kill you so it's like pretty optional.
So it's a lot of fun to just kind of go through the map like this and like try to find the portal.
Now we're looking for these like red particles somewhere that should be swirling around the portal, pretty much hinting that it's somewhere near it.
There was a green shrine.
Again, lots of map objectives out there.
Can I just say how good you're getting at multitasking?
Yeah, I know.
I mean,
this is something that you don't really need to think about.
You just go and that's it.
Yeah, like you just hold the top arrow
forever.
If you need to think about what is the next move, then it's going to be quite hard.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
You can literally play this and be on a call.
Yes, yeah, yeah, you can record a podcast.
But you need to think what you need to pick.
That's the shocking part.
But that's something that's something you can kind of,
I don't want to say automate in your head, but you already program yourself what you need to see and then you just go for it.
Exactly.
There are also like these vendors and like some other different map objectives is also pretty good.
Like the whole map object thing is like I think one of the reasons why this game is so good because you you literally need to explore it's all generated by the way and then on top of it there's lots of strategic choices that you need to do.
Oh there's a nuke there.
Let me show you this one.
A nuke?
Yeah, so it also drops power-ups from time to time, like speed and stuff, and there's a nuke.
It's killed everyone?
Yeah, killed everyone.
Oh, it's like the classic bomb
Yeah, that's that.
There also should be some magnet here.
I think I'm going in circles.
Yeah, it looks like it.
Pretty much.
Oh, there's a there's another map thing I'll show you.
How do you call it?
So, do you think this is gonna get compared to 3D on mobile, or is it too big for that?
I think both.
Some people just the people that don't really want to kind of iterate that much, they're just gonna go for the like blatant copy.
Yeah, one on one.
Yeah, see, increase damage by 20% per 100 extreme.
This is exactly what we were looking for.
Uh,
and then
the ones that will actually think a lot, because this is how this game was created basically by combining two games into one, yeah, which is genius, those are gonna win because they will test the portal, see the red stuff because they're gonna apply this not to a genre that's completely full, but they're gonna apply to a genre that's not that full.
Oh, you're gonna die!
Oh, I wish there was
you did anyway let's let's use our dead so what happens here you get silver i didn't do any quests but you mostly most of the time do quests you get silver and for silver you can then go and unlock stuff basically in progression in like balatro style fashion so for doing quests you get silver there's lots shit ton of quests literally imagine a quest oh watch 10 rewarded odds then there's shop
Felix, this is desktop or web.
I know, I'm just thinking for mobile.
It can be done easily.
For mobile, this can be done very easily with ads.
And microtransactions also.
Yeah, okay.
Then we have
the shop.
Then we have unlocks, which are the characters, the weapons, and tombs and items.
Most of these, you first need to do some kind of a quest like here, kill 100 cactus enemies with tones damage, or kill 5,000 enemies with the sword, or whatever, upgrade region tomb to level 8, 8, or some kind of obscure thing, or whatever.
Like, for instance, I think some characters here.
If you go to
auger right there,
then yeah, you kill 15,000
goblins and buy weapon axe.
Okay.
Let's see, for instance, this is super specific.
Use microwave to duplicate ice crystal three times in a row.
Let's see.
So, yeah, some of those are
tornado weapons or whatever.
Yeah, so lots of these characters are upgraded through quests and results.
Can you go back?
We go to the shop.
No, no, no, no, no.
Where?
I thought I saw a pirate there.
Pirate?
Yeah, maybe because we're organizing a boat party with Fastspring.
And you need us to actually join the party to unlock the character.
Or you can just join us in Helsinki.
Or actually, this when this is going to be live, we're already at the party.
So thank you very much for coming.
Thank you very much for coming.
This is organized by FastSpring, Keyword Studios, and us.
And I think someone else as well, but it's not important.
What is important is this episode is brought to you by FastSpring.
And they are no drama D2C partners that's been scaling with mobile publishers for over 20 years.
Fast-growing, profitable, and reliable, which is more than you can say for most vendors in that space.
Whether you're launching a new web store, replacing a current D2C setup or adding a backup plan fastspring is here for you go check them out fastspring.gg again fastspring.gg and unlock your character in megabong or just build your web shop anyway by the way here's the micro it's super powerful item by the way because what it does it lets you clone things from your inventory like three times in a row by the way so that there's like super powerful items in the game like like moldy cheese for instance which poison your enemies for a single target damage item, and so on and so forth.
Yeah, that's what that's what you love.
Molder cheese.
Anyway, if you see that it's pretty deep, that that's what I wanted to show you.
Now I'll can unfold what almost like waters in Helsinki for our boat party.
Yeah, almost as deep as those waters.
Yeah, let me check the
little bit what's what's behind the numbers and like what's uh design here.
So we hope you're gonna now show us
yeah lots of tabs to go through uh don't get yeah a little bit of like what happened here so why it's so popular and everything so megabon caught the attention of twitch streamer called shroud if you don't know it's i know popular who started playing it on september twenty third to five thou fifteen thousand viewers has not played has not stopped playing since and so on and so forth uh
this game is released by this
very, very crowded period of like Hollow Night, Silk Song, Borderlands, and everything.
Like, not really a release window that you want to do, and it prevailed anyway.
Yes, like, because the release date of this is
what
very, very recent.
Where's the developer?
Where is it based?
Yeah,
it's mysterious.
They have great humor.
Yeah, they're super humor
probably not Germany
so it was really September 18th yes so less than two weeks ago yeah
and very positive
guy is called Veddinat
which is
so Veddinat is actually some kind of acronym
to
his other
developer account called Danny
yeah like his youtube channel
or something so
yeah there's like a I I couldn't really find like whose this is but it seems like could be just one person I don't know we'll need to tell him
go find
yeah go chat GPT and just just ask like who did mega ball that's what I wanted to do but yeah
I couldn't go into it like I couldn't find the n the any measure but let's call the numbers until Felix yeah yeah yeah detective Felix ChatGPT figures it out.
It's fine.
So, the numbers, and this is really astonishing.
So,
this already hit K
today.
CCU on Steam, which is fucking amazing.
It's just hitting record every single day.
This
bigger bump was Sunday.
That's why this one was smaller than the previous one.
But other than that, you see, like, it's still a current
comes up.
It's like what?
It's just like
lifetime of these type of games, like two months, three months?
Oh, actually, it's pretty big if they can spread.
Yeah, so we'll see how this one goes because, like, it's very, very core-ish.
That's the thing.
Like, you I'll show you how deep it is.
You don't need, I kind of understood when you played.
Regarding the numbers, thanks for VG.
Thank you very much, VG Insights, for all the numbers here.
So, this is what I wanted to see.
Yeah, so we have to no gross revenue, but the game goes for like a price discount for 15%,
28 euros until end of
or 2nd of October or something like that, like welcome offer or something like that.
It's important,
interestingly,
so this is just concurrent user, but this is what I wanted to show you.
So in first...
not finished first month
on day 11 it sold like 300 000 nearly 300 000 copies yeah and if you compare it to vampire survivors which by the way never achieved this kind of a big ccu on steam ever
uh
it did something like 23 million yeah
not bad as i said it's like an interesting number because 76.
million units old and keep in mind vampire survivors released 2021 so it's for your old game but if you go again just initial
initial comparison.
Man, there is no data on this developer.
There's some speculation.
Yeah, that's a very good thing.
It's very Danny V or whatever.
Yeah, Danny Dev, which is a known indie developer, but
there's speculation that it's the same person, but everything's unconfirmed.
See?
This is the thing.
It's coming out of nowhere.
Nothing is coming out of nowhere, usually.
Yeah, it doesn't work like that until it's not figured out, anyway.
Yeah, uh,
not first aligned to release
what I'm doing wrong, commutative units,
period,
yeah, 61k
compared to
and this is on day 30, that was day 11.
Yeah, yeah, compared to vampire survivors.
The other important thing is I should want just for those who don't remember really, this is vampire survivors.
So you have these guys that are running at you again, same s South Ash, but it's 2D.
And this is again the the big difference.
The other big difference is the the randomizer.
If you see here, uh again,
top weapons, the main ones, bottom weapons, the like power-ups, boosters, whatever, like this is pretty much the same screen, but somewhere here in the escape or whatever, you have the recipe screen, which is not there because we don't evolving abilities in mega bonk, so that's that's that's there.
And then
the map objectives, they're not really any.
It's just this infinite plane, which feels kinda
could be better.
That's that's the big big uh added value for me for Megabong, because we have the game called Risk of Rain.
Again, didn't ever cross that ATK Steam CCU.
It did very good, by the way.
One hundred and forty one million.
But this is uh this is Gearbox publishing, man.
This is like a major, major publisher.
Not the developer, but the publisher is major.
So I'm guessing very good marketing and everything with it.
9 million units sold, even older, 2019.
And if we cross-compare how it looks, so you see
this is where it's getting the thing.
We are not having a skill randomizer.
We are not having all these vampire survival shit thing, but regarding the movement, regarding stuff what what's happening within the game what map object he's literally clicking on the exact same thing like shrines some points of enemies bosses and and whatever yeah it's basically the same exact thing
i think mega bunk will be bigger than this we'll see maybe with the publisher the problem with these like super big indie hits with small teams is that they can't keep up the crowd satisfied with new features.
This exact thing happened.
Yeah, yeah.
If you remember, this exact thing happened to walheim like when it was released everybody was playing it like this kind of cozy biking rpg whatever but then you played it off after yeah after two months like
well there were like five people five people and they're like oh we don't want to hire more people okay yeah like everybody will move on yeah exactly see you in the see you in the next game doesn't matter that the embracer took them in or whatever was was the play there but yeah but it's kind of hard to keep the this giant crowd entertained even on twitch so either they start pushing up some heavy updates or whatever or because once people run out of that progression content unlock everything like yeah it's gonna be hard for them yeah it's that you're yeah
heldivers pulled through pretty well but it still took them a lot of time to just understand how to entertain the crowd so they need to figure out yeah they didn't understand how to entertain me
to this point
so you see you see the analogy here very good and and again this is the mastery of whoever did this, the mysterious developer, that he took again, pretty do very old games, basically, and
very specifically combined
system again.
Like, there's nothing new actually in those games.
Like, each of the elements can be assigned of either this game or like the other game.
But you need to understand how it works.
Yeah, you need to understand how it works, how to combine them, and actually, especially what to cut off these games.
Like, for instance, the evolutions from the randomizer from Vampire Survivors.
Like, his randomizer is much better, honestly, because there's more control, more choices, more strategy, less, like, every every build turns into the same, like, mixer thing.
So why is it better?
Because Jakob said so.
Also.
Don't forget.
Of course.
Stamp of approval.
Uh, but again,
whoever will be porting this to mobile, uh, as I said, the first ones will just go with, like, let's copy this immediately as it is, but the smart ones will copy the system, like this kind of roguelite system that this game like megabong is pretty much doing and like I guess map objectives and 3d environment is big part of it so it will be a little bit hard like you can you just maybe
so megabong instead of this yeah
can you uh Matte can you on this the thumbnail for this video just make a award say it's Jakob approved
some other
some other charge that I have here uh so Megabong regarding twitch viewership again very very big
yeah and then we have Empire Survivors which also did even bigger but you see how it kind of needs to speak into that microphone my friend yeah faded away kind of immediately
and then this is risk of rain 2 which you see like like updates do their thing that's why the game did so much revenue because like but still peak viewership never reached mega bonk basically so that's there what i was having just the risk of yeah this is the one that i I wanted to show you.
So,
not this one, this is the live one, but this is a streamer that I watched, like actually a pedov exile streamer that switched pedov exile for this just to just to show you how like real built, real characters look like and how ridiculous this can get.
Because you see, already this is character level 141,
which is already having full screen of like access, and he has the fire
launcher upgrade where like yeah, stuff stuff there.
You see how many items he has and like how big the skills are so if you move forward
to something like level
jesus yeah see
whoa see how how how deep this is level 500
maybe 600 so you see how it looks and this is like this is how the game is supposed to be played this is not like bugs or abusing the system this is how it is so this is the big difference between the vampire survivors and risk of Rain game, where like this game can go very, very deep.
And I'm super deep.
This is like late stage, like, happy survivor I.O.
when you're so powered up, you're just kind of standing and not doing anything.
And it's just a little bit of a single thing.
Yeah, this is exactly what he's doing.
Because
if the timer runs out, you get this, like, it's called like final swarm.
And these ghosts go against you and they push you out and kill you.
And he's just so strong that, like, even they can't kill him.
And he's just waiting, basically, to farm as much XP and gold as possible near the portal.
And once they actually gonna kill him, he'll just go into the portal and finish because he has this item that, like, once they kill him, it stops time, and he can just walk away.
So, but just wanted to show the ridiculousness of how giant these damage abilities can get.
Because, yeah, this is just a very good build, basically.
So, that's why you need to know what to play.
But anyway, this game seems super fun.
It's very, very deep design-wise.
Again, it's carried only by great design.
Graphics and everything are complete shit.
Like, the the bosses and like wait a second, what do you mean like graphics are completely shit?
This is amazing.
Yeah, like it's kind of Minecraft.
Exactly.
You don't need anything else.
Yeah, but but again, you don't even need anything else.
That's the beauty of it.
Like you just need perfect design, nothing else.
And like
you're doing what, like two millions in two weeks.
Exactly.
That's that's why I always debate.
It needs to be really polished to make money.
No.
It's pretty clever.
It doesn't.
And as I said, this is currently Twitch.
It's number three with how much?
114k viewers, basically.
Nice.
You see, there's Shroud with 13k people.
There's Twin with 13k people.
Lots of people are jumping on this bandwagon because that's what streamers do.
Like once they see a popular game, they want to fire more traffic and just hop on.
Doesn't matter if they play this game or like even this genre or not, doesn't matter.
Doesn't matter.
So it's now spreads like wildfire basically because it's highly, highly streamable, as you've seen.
Like you get to these ridiculous kind of builds, which is very, very nice to watch.
That's the marketing part right there.
So, I'm guessing this week, a lot of teams, especially in China, already started.
Yeah, some teams maybe in Europe got the Vietnam for sure.
No, I think China definitely
is RPG.
It's like this is not the Vietnamese.
How long until this is an onboarding in a Forex?
How long?
Tomorrow.
I will give give it
this is the end of the year.
As I said, like the 3D Vampire Survivors kind of switch is very, very good.
I really like that.
And the game is really amazing.
Like, I've been playing it from the moment I heard about it
for the last five days, every single night.
And it's very
where did you hear about it?
Where?
Or when?
From the guy that I showed you, the Petov Excel streamer.
Oh, the Peto Excel streamer.
Okay.
Wanted to see what he's playing.
It's like, what's this playing?
Some random game or whatever was this thing.
And see?
And there it spreads.
What is this?
Oh, and there we have this.
I think this is more clever than Bellatro.
I wouldn't underestimate Bellatro.
Very different game, man.
I don't think
Bellatro has a similar paradigm of like roguelite iteration.
I think Bellatro is a similar paradigm.
It's kind of a little bit harder because I don't think so.
Bellatro is like, you know, you take these two games and masterfully connect them.
Bellatro is like you made it out of nothing.
Wait, wait, wait.
Quickly, let's just do this.
What was the DAU right now of the people playing this game?
Let me just do some ad estimates to see if they would be earning more if it was a free-to-play mobile game.
Here you go again.
What's it put
in?
It's 82k.
Pristine traffic there, like US traffic.
Is it only 82k in America?
What do you think?
No, I don't know.
It's not only in America, but like I would guess like a lot.
70% is 20k.
Okay, I'll put 40k in America and then 40k
globally, right?
Yeah.
Okay, what do we think we can get here?
Five rewarded ads on 60% of the user base?
Five?
Yeah.
Easily, right?
Five still, where?
Okay, so refresh, but I have the refresh button.
Yeah, refresh button and then refresh button and then also when you die increasing rewards
dying in the store you can watch something there for items okay yeah re-roll items
re-roll items okay so okay five five okay, five interstitials.
You can re-roll so much stuff in this game, yeah.
Interstitial system don't even count for that, right?
Now you won't okay, let's not.
The important part is that your run
can go very, very long because once you kill that boss in the portal, you go into the next stage of the portal, and like you can still continue.
Yeah, in the run
even longer than survivor item.
In between stages, there should be an interstitial.
Let's do six, then okay let's do six okay nine thousand dollars a day so
come on so that's two hundred and seventy thousand dollars per month but still
it's going to come to mobile in some way or another yeah one way but this is but this is only ads and i would say that's what like 20 of the overall revenue not gonna be 50 50 at all there's like no chance no chance this is gonna be 50 50.
if it goes to mobile 30 70 maybe yeah 30 70 maybe yeah the big difference again is that in Vampire Survivors you unlock the characters with the progression currency.
In Survivor IO you don't unlock the characters, you unlock the gear through gacha.
Which means that if you can add gacha into this, like fuck add revenue and you will just go with China.
Good old IIP revenue.
And with that in mind, you just need a proper gacha.
That's it.
All right.
If you start start talking about gacha, it's time to end.
It's time to end.
Thank you for the pass.
yeah we don't have time thank you so much for listening join the slack channel enjoy the other episode as well and comment under the video and the most important part if you haven't watched screwdom episode you don't know what screwdom is go and check it check it out see you later
