Don't get into it. Russell Wilson, he clapped back at his former coach, Sean Payton, after post-game comments praising Jackson Dart.
Let's take a listen to what Payton had to say.
Speaker 63 You know, they found a little spark with that quarterback.
Speaker 63 I was talking to John Merron not too long ago, and I said we were hoping that that change would have happened long after our game.
Speaker 7
Russ tweeted back, classless, but not surprised. Didn't realize you're still bounty hunting, bounty hunting 15 plus years through the media.
Let's ride.
Speaker 7 Now, Sean Payton later
Speaker 7 responded today that he was just talking about, you know, he was praising Jackson Dart.
Speaker 7 Now, he mentioned that he had talked to John Mara several weeks earlier before they even played, before they had even made this switch.
Speaker 7 God, y'all know I'm Bronco through and through.
Speaker 7 Like Sean Payton. I know Sean Payton.
Speaker 7
We had a very, very close mutual friend, Mike Ornstein. Mike Ornstein passed away.
Rest in peace. Yes.
I know Sean very well. No, you didn't have to.
Everybody knows how you feel
Speaker 7 about Russ. Yeah.
Speaker 7
Russ probably feels the same way, but would never say anything. I'm a little surprised Russ even responded to this.
I like it. Ocho.
But here's the thing.
Speaker 7 You're going to only be able to take so much. Absolutely.
Speaker 7 Because what you see is just like they keep going and keep going and keep going. And then they'll be, oh, you weak.
Speaker 7
You weak. So Russ responded.
I don't have a problem with Russ, with Russ saying, but
Speaker 7 come on now. Ocho,
Speaker 7 are you surprised Russ responded? And
Speaker 7 are you surprised this thing has really taken, got legs and kind of like started running on its own? I like the fact that it has legs. I like the fact that it has legs.
Speaker 7 Sean Payton, he already tried Russ on the sideline.
Speaker 7 He tried Russ on the sideline, berating him and talking trash to him, actually provoking Russ, hoping he would break character, hoping he would show a different side than who he actually is.
Speaker 7
He kept calm, mild mannered. Now he takes shots at him again.
Yeah. For no reason at all.
Speaker 7
And I love Russell, choir boy Wilson. But I love the fact that he stood, he stood up for himself.
Russell Wilson, Matthew 5, 39, in the Bible, it says, turn the other cheek.
Speaker 7
Well, this time, Russ said, he had ran out of cheeks. I'm finna clap back.
I'm finna fire back at you. I'm finna stand up for myself.
And I like him showing some enthusiasm
Speaker 7 and getting in the fire for a change instead of just
Speaker 7
let it be water off a duck's back. Man, talk your shit, Russ.
It's okay. It's okay.
Guess what? What?
Speaker 7 Ain't no person named Shannon in the Bible. i ain't in there you keep talking back taking your cheap shots at me i'm gonna put something on you come on now talk
Speaker 7 what rust did remember remember ocho come on russ at some point in time enough has to be enough you made your point right you didn't want me you moved on you have a quarterback in both nicks that seems to be that he's the guy for the broncos future i've gone this two this is my second team since i've left the broncos yeah i ain't bothering nobody russ you you you could like or dislike russ but the one thing that you can't say that he's not bothering anybody, he's not talking down, he's not saying anything negative about anybody.
Speaker 7 Never. So, my thing is, why?
Speaker 7 Hey, let me tell you, Uncle Joe, Russell Wilson. If you want to talk about quarterbacks and the way to conduct yourself as a professional athlete on and off the field, he's a consummate pro.
Speaker 7 He is the ultimate pro when it comes to doing your job, going to work, being a family man, being a husband, doing everything the right way.
Speaker 7 The fact that he finally got outside outside of his character for a change is exciting for me i like it i enjoy it because now listen at some point you gotta you gotta put a nail in the coffin because you don't put a nail in the coffin they're gonna keep digging your grave i agree they're gonna they're gonna they're gonna keep they gonna keep on digging your grave and keep digging at you for no reason there's no reason for and i know sean payton as well there's no reason for you to do you know do that but you understood listen i got it i got a sitting duck I got an easy duck.
Speaker 7
He ain't going to say nothing. He ain't going to fire back.
But finally, we get a new Russell Wilson. I love this.
I love this Russell Wilson. And Russell, I know you're gonna see this.
Speaker 7 Anyone else say something? You better fire off of their ass, too.
Speaker 7 Go ahead, Joe. Hey, I agree with both of y'all.
Speaker 7
I think, you know, I think Russ is more so like, you know, enough is enough, man. He ain't said nothing.
He's been going about his way, you know, tending to his business.
Speaker 7
And they still taking cheap shots at him. I'm with him, man.
I'm glad he responded. I'm glad he said something.
Be petty, betty. Go back at him.
Speaker 7 it doesn't matter how mild mannered a person is eventually yeah eventually you look at i mean you look at any animal it might be even even the dog might you know you see it but after a while he's gonna lash out at you it's going to a lash out because it's only going to take so much so he rush felt that okay former teammates have been taking shots at him you know x y and z and said all these things and now he's like bro how much how much more how much more crap do y'all want to dump on me and say, man, y'all just pouring perfume on me?
Speaker 7
Listen, because at some point in time, Mocho, enough is enough. Yeah.
Yeah. You've made your point.
Okay. Okay.
I'm fine.
Speaker 7
I get it. I get it.
I didn't, I didn't live up to the expectations that I had, the coaching staff, the organization, or the fan base of Denver. I didn't meet those expectations.
Speaker 7 I accept that, but I'm gone. There's no need, There's no reason for you to mention you can praise Jackson Dart
Speaker 7
without taking a dump on me. Absolutely.
Absolutely. Hey, look.
Speaker 7 Praise your guy.
Speaker 7 But why would you have to take a shot at me?
Speaker 7 And you, like I said, he said that he was just praising Jackson Dart, but you said that you had talked to John Mara, who's one half of the owner of the Giants.
Speaker 7 weeks ago.
Speaker 7 Even if he had done that, he could have kept that to himself. Yeah, he didn't have to share that.
Speaker 7 Well, he didn't have to share that, Ocho. John, Joe, he could have just said what he said, like, you know, and maybe with his coaching staff or with his close buddies when he's having a drink.
Speaker 7 I told you, I told John, I was like, man, I hope y'all make that change after us because it's just a matter of time.
Speaker 7
Cool. And nobody, the way Jackson Dart is playing, I don't think anybody's upset that they made this move.
I told Ocho, I said, oh, Ocho, over under. Eight weeks.
Speaker 7
I said, I'm looking like I'm taking the under. Oh, Joe.
Just said, No, I said, I'm taking the under. Yeah.
Because I had seen enough in, I seen enough in the preseason.
Speaker 7
I said, Ocho, they're going to make this make this change sooner than later. Yeah.
Yeah. But
Speaker 7 I just don't, I don't, I don't, you know, this, the continuation of beating down Russ is it's it's unnecessary. And what does that mean? I know you're excited.
Speaker 7
Oh, Joe, you know, we win a game, oh, Joe, we win a game. We excited, yeah, we beat them sorry.
Yeah, we beat them sorry, wraps, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 But we thought y'all had us didn't 33 in the fourth 33 uh i get all that but come on now
Speaker 7 winners enough enough ocho how how how much am i supposed to take
Speaker 7 i like it hey matter of fact he should have cursed in the tweet he should have cursed
Speaker 7 go go all the way there it wasn't enough for you no
Speaker 7 listen i like it he listen he fired back but he fired back in a professional manner absolutely man come on man hey russ next time man man, man, what? Wait, I put, let me put the tweet together.
Speaker 7
I'll put the tweet together for you. Hell, dog.
Hey, listen. But, but, but what was it about? Why was Sean Payton bring that up? Honestly, like, what did that have to do with anything?
Speaker 7 Listen,
Speaker 7
this is all about the privileges that was bestowed upon Russ before Sean Payton got there. Yeah.
I said some things and everybody called me a lot.
Speaker 7 I was talking, me and Ocho and I was having a conversation.
Speaker 7 And everybody wanted to tell me, Shannon, you don't know what's going on because you're not there i say you do realize i'm still held in very very high regard in denver right you actually think i would say something like this and it not be the gospel
Speaker 7 i say hey i'm matthew mark luke and john when i speak about something coming out of denver or baltimore it's the gospel
Speaker 7 I don't really talk too much about it because y'all, they know, but they try to undermine me and try to say, you're not in the locker room or you don't know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 7
But y'all don't realize how often I call around the league and a lot of things that's going on that's get reported, that ain't my job. I ain't Adam Schefter.
I don't try to be. I'm not Jake Lazer.
Speaker 7
I don't try to be. But I know a lot more than what I say.
And when it comes out, like,
Speaker 7
they got mad. I said it.
Sean got there.
Speaker 7 When they were explaining the privileges that Russ got,
Speaker 7 Sean, like, are you hitting me?
Speaker 7 Are you kidding me?
Speaker 7 It's like, no, we're like, we thought that he's like, no, that is not normal protocol. Nobody in the history had ever had a situation like that.
Speaker 7
And from that point on, once he heard that, it was over. He would have needed to throw for 50 touchdowns, 4,000 yards, and get him to the AFC championship.
Other than that, it wasn't going to work.
Speaker 7 So instead of trying to listen to what I was trying to say, try to explain what was transpiring and why so many people were out on Russ in Denver.
Speaker 7 They wanted to talk about, about, oh, you're talking bad about a black man. You wouldn't say that about a white guy.
Speaker 7 When I had called Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers and all these other quarterbacks, but see, long as I'm talking about them, it's fine.
Speaker 7 All I was saying, I didn't say Russ was a bad person. I said he got privileges and it made his teammates feel a certain type of way.
Speaker 7 Sort of
Speaker 7 itself.
Speaker 7
Ocho, we know who makes the money. Yeah.
But just because you make more money, we don't want you getting privileges. We don't want you having offices that none of us like, hold on, really? Yeah.
Speaker 7 So from that point on, Sean felt some type of way.
Speaker 7
He felt some type of way. And I get it.
I get it. But that man has been gone for two years now.
It's time to let that go. Yeah.
Yeah. Joe.
Speaker 7 You know what it is? What's that?
Speaker 7 It's the same thing with Mello and George carl george car keep on poking mellow mellow don't mention george carl but every chance he gets he tries to poke mellow mellow's gonna have to look
Speaker 7 mellow's gonna have to draw a line in the sand and say mofo if you step across this line again
Speaker 7 i'm gonna have to unleash you know he ain't got no problem doing that
Speaker 7 you know mellow ain't got no problem drawing that line
Speaker 7 He's going to have to, because
Speaker 7 every time he's always speaking negative.
Speaker 7 Oh, they couldn't win no championship with that guy he wouldn't play defense he wouldn't do this i get it you don't like mellow everybody is not going to like everybody but bro you hadn't coached mellow in damn near two decades yeah
Speaker 7 what what is the issue now can we just move on i mean obviously at that point it'd be better if coaches come out especially when they continue to do this and they they have things to say years removed from from dealing or coaching a certain individual why don't you just come out and say you know what i don't even like this individual and it's personal it had nothing to do with the sport.
Speaker 7
It had nothing to do with basketball. It had nothing to do with football.
Nothing to do with him playing quarterback or whatever it may be. I just don't like him.
And that's okay.
Speaker 7 It would be better suited for us as a public and fans of these sports to come out and have Sean Pay say, you know what, I just don't like Russell Wilson. I don't know.
Speaker 7
I don't know what it is about him. I just don't like him.
Or George Carl, you know what? I don't like Carmelo. Whatever it may be.
Speaker 7 What's understood don't need to be spoken.
Speaker 7 Yeah.
Speaker 7
You know. Yeah.
Man, I don't, I don't, well, if say if
Speaker 7 somebody continuously cheating on the other party,
Speaker 7 what does he need to say? What does she need to say?
Speaker 7
You keep doing what you're doing when you know it's wrong. Yes.
I don't need, I don't need no
Speaker 7 Harvard attorney to try to read between the lines. Yes, sir.
Speaker 7 You're telling me the mere fact that you keep taking shots at me publicly is one thing thing if it's getting back to me ojo but the mere fact that you're putting it in print the mere fact that you keep saying it publicly i can read it for myself i can see it for myself tells me that how you feel about me but i didn't i already knew that i'm like i've been trying to take the high road try to remain remain professional i'm trying to build a brand i don't want to do anything to tarnish that but hey Bro, I understand.
Speaker 7
That's not what you are. You don't try to build a brand.
You're not really on television.
Speaker 7 People go to you when they want to get they want to get clicks they want to get a rage bait material they'll come to you and you'll say something mellow is one of the 75 greatest players they ever play in the nba we understand what mellow is now he's a hall of famer so automatically if somebody says something negative
Speaker 7 that's going to get picked up yeah that is mellow that's his former coach yeah
Speaker 7 i i just don't i just don't get it we don't have to like all of our teammates we don't have to like all of our coaches. I've had I had a great relationship with
Speaker 7 all the coaches, maybe one or two I didn't really jive with, and yeah, it's okay, but I would never say anything publicly absolutely.
Speaker 7
Hey, look, you're a teammate, it's only so much, bro. It's only so, yeah, bro, bro.
I'm 57, I got grands now, but what I'm talking about, what happened 25, 30 years ago for a good job.
Speaker 7 What purpose does that serve in a negative light? Yes, yeah, none at all, none at all.
Speaker 7 I mean, listen, i i get along with everybody i i'd assume i try to i i'd assume everybody loves me the same way i show love there's only one person i don't get along with and uh if if i ever see him it's it's on site and um
Speaker 7 huh
Speaker 7 would you say joe who is that you don't want to say you don't want to say oh james harrison
Speaker 7
oh Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, it's personal.
It's personal.
Speaker 7
And I say, I say it every day. And I let him know.
I can't wait to see him. Obviously, he doesn't live here in Miami, but the only place I probably see him on, what, maybe Super Bowl? Yeah.
Speaker 7 So I'm sure we'll probably cross paths. Maybe,
Speaker 7
you know, Radio Road or some shit like that. And either he's going to have security or it's just going to be a thumping session.
Oh, Joe. I don't know if you want to climb that tree, man.
Speaker 7 Hey, one thing about me.
Speaker 7
Hey, let me tell you something. Hey, Joe, in high school, they called me Paul Bunyan.
You hear me? I used to, hey,
Speaker 7 I'm chopping everything down.
Speaker 7
All the trees. Hey, hey, hey, as you play a partner, man, I'm trying to listen.
You might want your pass on that one, bro. Hey, hey, hey, Joe, brush up on your NFL knowledge.
Speaker 7 What you want to know, I seen. No, I'm just saying, because I might need a new partner.
Speaker 7
Okay, okay, say less. Say less.
Say less. Say less.
I'm with you. Hey, the fact that y'all don't have no faith in me, man, that...
Speaker 7 Y'all not Christian. Hey, hey, hey,
Speaker 7 basically saying you're going to be concussed.
Speaker 7 You're going to be out for the rest of the season.
Speaker 7 we gotta look we got other we got other business ventures that we're trying to get to ocho
Speaker 7 oh we're gonna get there no matter what we're gonna get there no matter what i mean if you can't talk for like six months oh oh i'm gonna be
Speaker 7 man trust me i'm gonna be okay you hey listen if you see me in a fight with a bell you might want to help the bell yeah hey
Speaker 7 i don't need no partner when he moving the chair like this here you hear me
Speaker 7 i can't i can't use no partner like that
Speaker 7 i need a real partner.
Speaker 7
Somebody be going to laugh and joke and get up out of the chair. Hey, hey, hey, Ocho, I got a question.
What's your game plan, though? Like, y'all getting into Octagon? What y'all doing?
Speaker 7
Hey, listen, listen, Octagon Street, boxing ring. It don't matter.
On site,
Speaker 7
it don't matter. Joe, like, I'm at that point.
Like, I'm kind of frustrated because I keep challenging him and he really don't want no smoke. He's not responding.
That lets me know.
Speaker 7
I mean, all that size and muscle don't mean nothing, man. Okay, hey, hey, from me to you, bro.
Just Just keep your distance, stick and move. Don't hey, that's hey, Joe.
That's what I'm gonna do, Joe.
Speaker 7 Don't you know? There you go. Hey, hey, look at my rain.
Speaker 7
Make my rain get out there. Yeah, you know, I'm gonna keep him out of distance, Joe.
Like, I might, I might get mid-range in there and get close up on him. No, no,
Speaker 7
don't do that. Don't do that.
No, don't get close.
Speaker 7
Keep that distance. Use that jab.
You gotta use the jab, baby. Hey, Joe, I'm gonna use that thing, Joe.
Speaker 7
I'm gonna use it. I'm telling you, man, listen.
Hey,
Speaker 7 listen, hey, one thing about it,
Speaker 7 God only be on my side.
Speaker 7 God only be on my side. You hear me? And all my
Speaker 7 side.
Speaker 7
I'm saying, I'm going to pull him off you. I mean, but y'all sound like y'all ain't on my side.
Y'all telling me I'm going to be hurt and I ain't going to be able to talk.
Speaker 7 Yeah, it ain't going to be ain't looking good.
Speaker 7 All right.
Speaker 7 But no, what we try to do, Ojo, we're trying to keep you safe.
Speaker 7 Is it?
Speaker 7
I'm safe. When I get in the car, I put my seatbelt on.
When I walk out the door, I say a prayer. Every morning, I roll out of bed.
Speaker 7
Whether I roll out the left side or the right side, I say me a prayer. So every time I walk up and I pray, I'm always safe.
God, you don't get out the same side of the bed every morning, huh?
Speaker 7 You don't get out of the same side of the bed? No, sometimes I roll to the left, I roll to the right. It depends on what side she's on.
Speaker 7 Oh, okay.
Speaker 7 Yeah.
Speaker 7
I get on the same side, it don't matter. Me too.
No, no, hell no. I'm sick of that.
Speaker 7 Well, god damn what size bed y'all got
Speaker 7 all right
Speaker 7 oh i
Speaker 7 said who who sleeps in the middle of the bed i sleep on one side no i don't sleep on the edge of the bed because i might fall out you don't you don't you don't toss and turn no yeah oh i'd be yeah i mean i see my bed i got a twin what's what size y'all bed man stop i got a king bed that man
Speaker 7 what you what you sleeping on a full size or twin i got a i got a twin Boy, you ain't had no twins since you was in college. You ain't exactly.
Speaker 7
Hey, hold on. I'm not playing.
Wait, y'all got king-size beds? Man,
Speaker 7 you know how much that shit costs?
Speaker 7
Yeah. Oh, Joe, I got to have a king-size.
Oh, but Joe, you, Joe, you probably got a California king. Your feet be hanging off the bed, Joe.
Speaker 7
There you go, baby. There you go.
Hey, y'all chilling.
Speaker 7
Hey, hey, hey, listen, the king bed costs so goddamn much. I just got, I got the cheapest one.
And then you know how much a mattress is?
Speaker 7 Yeah.
Speaker 7 And this is,
Speaker 7
you don't have to buy no mattress. You don't have to buy no mattress, but once every 10 years.
Yeah.
Speaker 7
They made apostropedic mattress, man, with like $4,000 for a king bed. I was like, oh, that's cool.
Give me the 10.
Speaker 7 I got one of the mattresses, Ocho, that really tells you how long you slept, how long you was in a deep sleep, how long you was in the rim.
Speaker 7 If your bed get hot, it'll cool it down for you you make adjustments you got one of the memory phones
Speaker 7 huh you got one of the memory phones over there no i got one about you know what about one of them old space age beds hey hey hey what what would they would they run how much would them run they look so you know little soft son you dope they come in twin hey why that hey hey oh joe why you be trying to act like you can't spend four or five grand on a bed man i ain't spending no Joe
Speaker 7 5,000 on the bed, Joe. Who do that? Look, look, look,
Speaker 7 come on, on, man.
Speaker 7 You ain't doing nothing but sleeping and shagging on there anyway.
Speaker 7 That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 7
Oh, Joe, it'll tell me how long I was in a rim sleep. It'll tell me how long I was in a deep sleep.
It'll tell me
Speaker 7
how long I snored. It'll say, you snored 35 minutes last night.
You snored 50% less than normal. Yeah, yeah.
It'll tell you what time you fell asleep. I have a question.
Speaker 7 Even if that bed has all those features and has all those amenities that it comes with, I'm sure it costs a pretty penny. What are you going to do with that information? $5,900.
Speaker 7 That's how much the bed costs.
Speaker 7 $5,900.
Speaker 7 That's a whole lot. What you mean? Ocho, what you mean? What I'm going to do with that information? It'll tell me.
Speaker 7 Guess what? It says your best time to work out is between the hours of one and five. You don't
Speaker 7 want to tell you that.
Speaker 7
Your body will tell you that. Your body is going to be.
Exactly when the best time is going to be.
Speaker 7 That's what it's telling me it's the same reason they put all that stuff in your shoulder pads and they track everything that you do at practice now right
Speaker 7 you dehydrated you need the more hydrate see
Speaker 7 the more information you have hey you you want me want me to tell you want me to why they track everything now
Speaker 7 because they understand see their pros and their cons of that and them tracking everything they understand when you get to a certain amount of mileage yeah this car he ain't no more good
Speaker 7 that's all it is
Speaker 7 with that man he's tracking that upstairs yeah they listen they try to they try to make it seem like it's a good thing but they tracking all this stuff where his speed ain't what it used to be yeah we might need to watch him it's about we might want to get rid of him and get something good for well they get they put it in your pads on yo huh they putting that in your shoulder pads yeah i'm and and the catapult you know the catapult thing that yeah yeah man that's
Speaker 7 and the and the bed to cool and because you know i like it to be about somewhere between 66 and 68 degrees. So, you know, as you lay down, I'm a bed, my body temperature, I'm like,
Speaker 7
my body temperature is hell. I ain't going to, it'll cool it down.
So it might start at 72 and it'll say, you know, we made 34 adjustments last night to your bed.
Speaker 7
Be it my feet, be it my back, be it if I'm on my side, be it if I'm laying on my stomach. It doesn't matter.
It'll automatically adjust. Oh, I'll go out a damn boot.
I give you a cold.
Speaker 7 I give you a cold.
Speaker 7 All that's so unnecessary. I do just fine.
Speaker 7
Let me tell you something. Stay with me real quick.
Stay with me, Joe. Joe, I got a twin bed, Joe.
It cost me $2,200, Joe. I got a mattress, memory phone, partially pedic.
It cost me $800, Joe.
Speaker 7
That's fine. You talk about your bed heating up and getting cold and doing this and doing that.
I don't need all that shit. Joe, I put my AC on 65 degrees and I leave it.
I'm good.
Speaker 7
I'm good. I ain't got to do all that.
The bed adjusts for me.
Speaker 7
It cooled down for me. I ain't got to do all that.
Hey, you boys sleeping like polar bears.
Speaker 7 Hey, Joe, you already get hot. Oh, Joe, you get hot, you got to kick your leg out from under the cover or throw the cover off that.
Speaker 7 I ain't got to do none of that.
Speaker 7
I ain't got to do none of that. That's normal, though.
That's that's nor that. Nor that.
Hey, me, I pull the covers up on me.
Speaker 7
Now, see, hey, you, you, you live, you live in a different time. You're trying to live like the Jetsons.
I don't want to
Speaker 7 live like the Flintstones.
Speaker 7
I already lived like the Flintstones for 20 years. I ain't trying to live like that again.
Right, right.
Speaker 7 I'm good.
Speaker 7
I done had pallets on the floor. I'd have slept on those cast iron beds.
I'm good. I'm going to sleep good now.
Oh, yeah. Hey, hey, oh Joe, sleep is important, brother.
Speaker 7
Hey, look, that's how you body recover, man. Hold on.
I'm good. Joe, I don't go nowhere.
I know about sleep. If it wasn't for the show, remember, I'm asleep by 9.30 at night.
I'm up at 5 a.m.
Speaker 7 every morning. I'm in the gym at 7 a.m.
Speaker 7 I sure wish I could go to bed at 9.30 at night. you can if you stop partying hey you remember what happened monday night what 1 30.
Speaker 7 i seen yeah what time did we come on ojo it was 10 45 here it was 1 45 there yeah we didn't get off till three in the morning exactly and guess what guess what else ocho i was i had to get right back up and catch a flight right and go to la
Speaker 7 okay see that's that's what i call dedication because i was up to oh yeah for sure yeah i was up to a joe it was three we got off the show i joe i swore for god my clock said three 323.
Speaker 7 i already know i went i wasn't tripping on i was i was feeling good too because i took a nap early in the day yeah i took a nap early no i can see i i i had to cut them naps out because you can't sleep at night i can't sleep at night
Speaker 7 hey see that's perfect you see this is this is why i'm trying to get you a partner now
Speaker 7
this is it's perfect right there them nights you can't sleep at night Boom. Hey, honey.
I wrote a poem for you. Hey, honey, let me write you a love letter.
Hold on.
Speaker 7 recite some shakespeare to you to your girl or something hold on hold on i thought i'm saying he got somebody say he's gonna be married in two years yeah yeah you heard that joe you're gonna live for sure
Speaker 7 yeah hey just because y'all don't see me i'm listening and watching now okay okay yeah hey joe hey joe you married hey joe you married huh no close enough i ain't married close enough okay
Speaker 7 listen hold on stay with me he just ain't got no paperwork
Speaker 7 listen listen this is what we can do we could all make this official and have a trifecta wedding hold on,
Speaker 7 yeah, we can have a trifecta. I'm official, I just ain't got no whistle.
Speaker 7
I'm good, yeah. We back, we back.
You ain't probably watching,
Speaker 7 yeah, okay, okay, all right,
Speaker 7
I'm picking up, I'm picking up what you're putting down. I got you, yeah, you see what I'm saying? Joe, Joe, we know it.
Yes, you feel me now?
Speaker 7 It's time, hey, oh, Joe, it's time to come on, it's time to come on home, yeah, yeah, come on, it's about that time hey
Speaker 7 we not we not getting no younger no
Speaker 7 hey joe i tried to explain to i say the older we get
Speaker 7 the older we get
Speaker 7 the chances of getting what we want it become slim
Speaker 7 because what's available out there right now don't nobody else want because that's why it's available
Speaker 7 you hear me
Speaker 7 you get a certain age you know hey you get what you can not what you want to
Speaker 7
Hey, the pickings are slim now. Hey, it's a tough time to be dating now, boy.
Hey, what?
Speaker 7 Hey, boy,
Speaker 7
I waved my white flag a long time ago. I remember back.
Hey, we always, hey, we got back to school closed. It was like a week before school.
Everything done been picked over.
Speaker 7 Hey, Joe. Hey, it wasn't no early.
Speaker 7
Hey, we get the last two weeks. Everything done been picked over.
Everybody else that tried the jeans on, that tried the shirt on, that had their feet in the shoe.
Speaker 7
That's where they came up. Because I remember when I was coming up, Joe, people be trying the shoes on just their bare foot.
Yeah, you ain't had no socks, you know, they just started.
Speaker 7 You laughing, oh, Joe, I ain't lying. They, they, they, you, people had their brain like, damn, hey, let me, let me get them what he just had,
Speaker 7
but that was, that was back in the day. So, but I'm gonna, hey, it's time to come on in, Ocho.
It's time to come on home.
Speaker 7 Man,
Speaker 7 it just, it, it is what it is. And
Speaker 7
I'm at fault too. I'm at fault too.
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 7 As I've gotten older, I've tried. I struck out, huh?
Speaker 7
I've tried. I've tried.
I've struck out. But, you know,
Speaker 7 I'm back at the plate.
Speaker 7 That's the one thing I love about baseball is at some point,
Speaker 7
as much as you strike out, you're going to get your opportunity to be at the plate again. And right now, boy, Uncle, I'm about to hit a home run.
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 You don't
Speaker 7 call me.
Speaker 7 You don't call me uh uh
Speaker 7 joey otani no not otani what's up aaron judge no play for uh the blue jays oh vlad guerrero jr i'm guerrero jr
Speaker 7 yes sir
Speaker 7 yes sir
Speaker 7 yeah man it's a the thing was you know my problem was ocho talk to me looking for perfection oh take your time it ain't out one was she the perfect height uh-huh she was the perfect complexion come on she had the perfect build.
Speaker 7 She had the perfect.
Speaker 7 Bro, you not going to find all that.
Speaker 7 And one, you just, listen, I come to the realization.
Speaker 7 I've got to find a woman that have enough of the qualities that I'm looking for that I'm willing to overlook the ones that she don't have.
Speaker 7 It took me 57 years to realize that there is no such thing as perfection, although we constantly try to achieve it. Talk to me.
Speaker 7 them so now i'm like okay that's enough right you're enough yes you're tall enough you fine enough
Speaker 7
the complexion is enough everything is enough come on and it took me a while to realize that because i'm like I'm trying to be perfect. Hell, I want the perfect person.
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7
That's why I ate the way I ate. That's why I trained because I was trying to be perfect.
Shannon. And my sister just say, Shannon, you realize you're not going to be perfect, right?
Speaker 7
You realize you flawed. You are flawed.
I don't know why.
Speaker 7 We all are.
Speaker 7 Yeah.
Speaker 7 I mean, I'm like, listen,
Speaker 7 I would love to be a therapist. I would love to be a counselor
Speaker 7 for my sisters because they have expectations. And I love, I love people having expectations and having wants and needs and wanting requirements for people that they date to meet those qualifications.
Speaker 7 You hear me? What y'all laughing at? I'm listening, bro. Yeah.
Speaker 7 But here's the thing, though, Ocho. Yeah, but
Speaker 7 say what I'm saying. Go ahead.
Speaker 7 I want to hear this one. What are the chances?
Speaker 7 If you ask a woman, Joe, if you ask a woman, what is she looking for in a man? You feel me? And she'll run down a list of all the qualities and all the requirements
Speaker 7 that she wants. And it's almost, it's a build-a-bear.
Speaker 7
It's not real. The expectations aren't realistic.
So everyone is looking for this, this,
Speaker 7 not, not imaginary, but you'll meet a guy that that'll meet half of what you want.
Speaker 7
And oh, you know what? Nah, he ain't no good. No, he, he work, he, he where he works at Sears.
Oh, he works at Macy's. I can't do nothing with that.
Oh, Joe. Yeah.
Speaker 7 The easiest thing you'll do
Speaker 7 is to get with a person.
Speaker 7
Getting with is the easy part. Staying is what's hard.
Man, basketball came easy to Joe. Football came easy to you and I.
Speaker 7 But guess what we had to do? We had to practice. We had to study.
Speaker 7 We had to lift weights. We had to train.
Speaker 7 All that goes towards work.
Speaker 7
Working. You see, everybody gets to the relationship and then that's it.
You've got to work every single day
Speaker 7 because the person that you met yesterday is not the person today. The person that you go to bed with tonight, gonna wake up.
Speaker 7 And so now, instead of finding a reason to break up, can I find a reason to stay? In the words of Earth, Winning Fire, can I find a reason?
Speaker 7 Just one, can I find one reason to stay?
Speaker 7 The reason that we love games have been played. All of our reasons were the.
Speaker 7
Come on now. Take your time.
Right. So now
Speaker 7 it took me a while because I ojo, man, you age.
Speaker 7 Damn.
Speaker 7 Damn.
Speaker 7 Nah, Shannon.
Speaker 7 Because at the end of the day, the way she looked today, she ain't going to look like that 10 years from now.
Speaker 7 She ain't going to look like that from 20 years from now. And
Speaker 7 that booty that's up on her shoulders, it's going to be down by her knees. And you're going to need to pick it up and
Speaker 7
walk behind her to care. Because you know what it's, she's walking in a silhouette that you can see.
Now, when she gets about 55, 60, it's going to be dragging in the sand on the beach.
Speaker 7 You're going to know what she would. Hey, what my girl? Okay, I see a trail.
Speaker 7 You know what I'm saying? And
Speaker 7 you got to accept that, Ocho. yeah because i really you know what i walked by the mirror the other day and i was like damn
Speaker 7 i ain't the same guy no more ocho where you hold on on you lost it oh joe i'm telling you i used to i used to hey i used to compete on a boot from 25 feet away
Speaker 7 That's how you was, oh Cho.
Speaker 7 Hey, I ain't that no more.
Speaker 7
What happened? Hey, you say you ain't got it like you used to. I ain't got it like I used to.
I said, well, damn.
Speaker 7 I'm like,
Speaker 7 I'm not terrible. Right.
Speaker 7
But I'm looking at how I once was. Right.
And so if I were, if women were to judge me by what I used to be as opposed to what I currently am,
Speaker 7 I ain't going to get nobody.
Speaker 7 I know I used to,
Speaker 7 I walked around at 235 with 5% body fat. Okay, three percent, four percent body fat for years, right?
Speaker 7
And so I was like, you know what? I need to give people grace. Like, I'm asking people to give me grace.
Hey, hey,
Speaker 7
hold on, what you saying? You fat now? Nah, he's no, I ain't fat. Oh, no, ain't by no stretch of the imagination.
Okay, okay. Hey, hey, I'm saying his bounce back ain't like it used to be.
Speaker 7 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, his bounce back ain't, yeah, yeah, oh, Joe,
Speaker 7 damn, I'm just saying the baby arm ain't what it used to be. That's all I'm saying oh joe that's all all that's it we ain't going no further 26 26 i will be back chat stay with me till 26.
Speaker 7 my baddles my bad petals
Speaker 7 yeah
Speaker 7 but you you just you have to come to the realization man and i've come to the realization that hey
Speaker 7 i'm
Speaker 7 it is what it is hey i ain't i ain't 27 i ain't 37.
Speaker 7 hey
Speaker 7 just got to keep kicking. Hey, hey,
Speaker 7
put one foot, one footed, one foot in front of the other and just just keep just keep going forward. Well, we back.
We all the way back.
Speaker 7
No, no, no, no. We all went back.
But now you better believe 26 is going to be all the cracking.
Speaker 7
That's what I'm talking about. I'm going to be part of some of that cool stuff y'all got going on.
Yeah, you know, the reason why y'all fell in love with Uncle Ocho nightcap
Speaker 7 26. 26.
Speaker 7 Yeah, two more months.
Speaker 7 Y'all know, y'all.
Speaker 7 I got these jokes.
Speaker 7 I ain't in the joke telling business like quick, but I got some. But man, this.
Speaker 1 What a matchup we got, y'all.
Speaker 2 This is that classic HBCU vibe.
Speaker 4 Non-stop action.
Speaker 5 The band is rocking and the crowd lick.
Speaker 6 Chance echo.
Speaker 7 Drum beat.
Speaker 4 Everybody's showing that school pride.
Speaker 8 Game like this, yeah, it calls for an ice-cold Coca-Cola.
Speaker 10 Ah, crisp and refreshing. That's a game changer right there.
Speaker 7 Mmm, yeah.
Speaker 12 That taste always hits the right note, just like the band at halftime.
Speaker 13 And just like that, we're back at it.
Speaker 14 Passionate fans, school colors everywhere, and an ice-cold Coca-Cola?
Speaker 8 That's a winning combo.
Speaker 1 No matter the sport, no matter the yard, everybody knows.
Speaker 7 Fan work is thirsty work.
Speaker 16 So grab a Coca-Cola and keep that HBCU pride going.

Speaker 7 You know, when you, you know what I'm saying, you know, you driving, you just spend a lot of time.
Speaker 7 You know, I've had a lot of time to think because, you know, my grandma used to say, boy, she say, you either walking into the storm, you in the storm, or you're walking out of it.
Speaker 7 She says something about everybody going through something, son. Yeah.
Speaker 7
Come on. Come on now.
Boy.
Speaker 7
And when you in that storm, when you in the eye of the storm, the eye of the storm dropped down in New Orleans, Katrina. That was the eye.
Yeah.
Speaker 7 Boy, you don't think, you don't know if it's ever,
Speaker 7
ever. Like, when is this going to be over? How much longer? Man.
Hello. Where do I go? When does it end? What did?
Speaker 7 yeah? Hey, but I at
Speaker 7 the Ida Storm could be I,
Speaker 7 I read a quote many, many years ago.
Speaker 7 It said, a lesson that's not learned in blood is destined to be repeated.
Speaker 7 I had a conversation with my brother probably about two months ago.
Speaker 7 And he called me.
Speaker 7 And I said, well, you know, he obviously he knew what was going on because I called him and and told him or heard a time
Speaker 7 and then something else came out and then something else came out and then something else came out then espn came out
Speaker 7 he said shannon
Speaker 7 there's a lesson in here somewhere for you to be going through what you're going through there is a lesson
Speaker 7 it's on you to figure it out yeah
Speaker 7 I said, man, I sure wish I would. He said, you know what? He said, no,
Speaker 7
that's not the plan. He said, if you knew what it was, you would circumvent the lesson.
Right.
Speaker 7
He said, no, but you'll figure it out. Yeah.
He said, you'll figure it out.
Speaker 7 And
Speaker 7 people, when y'all see me, I don't.
Speaker 7 I don't want y'all to have the wrong impression.
Speaker 7 But I'm just very guarded now.
Speaker 7 I'm very, very guarded. I was always on alert,
Speaker 7 but I'm on high alert
Speaker 7
because I really don't know who I can really trust. Because what I've seen over the over the last six months, there are very few people that you can actually trust.
Yeah,
Speaker 7 yeah, very, very, very few.
Speaker 7 And there are, there are people that say some things and it's gotten back to me.
Speaker 7
But I was like, wow. Yeah.
And you had this conversation, Ocho, about being down and then people feel like they can pile on. Yeah.
Speaker 7 But
Speaker 7 I'm just very,
Speaker 7
I'm, I'm very matter of fact. I'm very, hey, how you doing? It's nice to meet you.
I'm going about
Speaker 7
I'm on my way. Yeah.
I'm on my way because I don't want people. Yeah, I had a conversation and Jeff, because if you stay too long,
Speaker 7 Ocho, the more people,
Speaker 7
and this is what I had to learn. And somebody told me this.
They say, Shanna, the more people you become involved with, the more stories there is to be told.
Speaker 7 Circle got to be crazy small.
Speaker 7 The more people you're involved with, Shanna, the more stories there are to be told.
Speaker 7 Okay,
Speaker 7 I like that.
Speaker 7 I didn't know
Speaker 7 what was going to happen.
Speaker 7
I appreciate you, Ocho, because you're like, hey, when you text me, Uncle, I'm with you. Yeah.
Whatever we got to go through, we going through it. You ain't by yourself.
Speaker 7 To the wheels fall the fuck off. Shit, you gave me an the opportunity.
Speaker 7
There are so many people, OJo and Joe. Where I'm going that used to call, that used to text.
Yeah. I ain't heard from them since this happened.
Speaker 7 But that's all right, though.
Speaker 7
That's all right, though. Man, please.
Yeah, keep it moving, babe.
Speaker 7 Maybe this is what I don't wish this on anybody.
Speaker 7 But what it did do
Speaker 7 is it really showed me who's really, really there.
Speaker 7 Right.
Speaker 7 There are a lot of people on the peripherial when things were going well.
Speaker 7 We were at the apex and
Speaker 7 getting invited to everything. Yeah.
Speaker 7 I'm talking about ain't called.
Speaker 7 Ain't called.
Speaker 7
And I'm talking about. We were talking once a month, twice a month.
Right.
Speaker 7 are we gonna come back but i'll see yeah and then you know i i think about too uncle and joe you had to think about you know unc what you had to go through you know i've been in the eye of that storm too now
Speaker 7 big time in front of the world yeah so i i had to take my licks i had to i had to you got it you got it and i had a joe but them calls stop Ain't heard from nobody.
Speaker 7 My circle was always small. So
Speaker 7 my same circle was right there, you know, to lift me up. But I already knew I was gonna sit for a minute
Speaker 7
for a long time. Joe, I had a, it was quiet up for maybe six years.
Yeah. Well, you know how long
Speaker 7 six years is?
Speaker 7
Oh, yeah. Nothing coming, no, nothing.
You just, I'm, I'm,
Speaker 7
and then here we go. You give me an opportunity, you know, while everything is, is, is back going, motion and going, is going good.
Yeah.
Speaker 7 And then
Speaker 7 you think I had a nerve to jump ship just because you going through what I had to go through years ago. What the fuck am I going with?
Speaker 7 I know what it's like. Yeah.
Speaker 7
And I'm looking at the chat. Everybody say Stephen A.
No, I will say this.
Speaker 7 Stephen A has called me and been there every step of the way.
Speaker 7 I will say that.
Speaker 7
I will say Stephen A have reached out. He's called, asked me anything.
Juvie, he's like, man, Juvie just wanted to say, hey,
Speaker 7 that's his boy.
Speaker 7 He just wanted to say, hey, you good? Hey,
Speaker 7 you good? I'm good.
Speaker 7
I'm good. Look, I know a lot of people say a lot of things about Stephen A.
All I can attest to is the way Stephen A is with Shannon.
Speaker 7 And he's been great because when I went through what I was going through at Fox, he was there.
Speaker 7 When I was going through this, he was calling anything I can do. What can I do?
Speaker 7 I won't get into private conversations that we have because that's between he and I.
Speaker 7 But there are a lot of other people a lot
Speaker 7 well i shouldn't say a lot a lot of the parcel of land there was a few quite a few
Speaker 7 but you know what
Speaker 7 i was
Speaker 7 i've been down before
Speaker 7 um
Speaker 7 this public lashing and ridicule and scorn and humiliation been down Take your lumps. But
Speaker 7 it took me a while to realize, like, hold on. You call the people that you're closest to,
Speaker 7 brother, mom, sister, kids, best friend, Bucket Burns.
Speaker 7 You explain to them what.
Speaker 7 They say, bro, we good.
Speaker 7 Once I got to that,
Speaker 7 OJo, you and I talked about this.
Speaker 7
The man, look. It is what it is.
I'm going to be all right.
Speaker 7 Hey, I didn't even want to hear it. We good sunshine follows rain what what what time what time the next show
Speaker 7 right hey joe that's all i want to know what what time is the next show that is exactly what he said he did
Speaker 7 i know what that's like
Speaker 7 okay okay uh
Speaker 7 yeah we're gonna get back to that but our very very special guest is joining us Cleveland Browns rookie sensation running back, Quin Sean Judkins joins us. Q, what's going on, bro?
Speaker 7
What's up? What's up? What's up? How you doing? Nah, he good. He's good.
Now, what's up? You been housing that thing this week?
Speaker 7
Well, you've been housing it since you got back, but you was really housing that thing. You ain't house call.
Body.
Speaker 7 I'm out. I had to.
Speaker 7 Yeah.
Speaker 7 How you feeling? How's your experience so far in the NFL been?
Speaker 7 Has it been everything you expected it to be as opposed to, you know, the transition from college to? Oh, yeah, most definitely.
Speaker 64 I feel like it's been more so surreal, not only for myself, but for my family to get to experience everything, you know, get to meet a lot of the players. Um,
Speaker 64 and that whole nine yards, man, just getting to finally touch down, you know, been through going through so much a slow start to the beginning of the season, and shoot, just everything taking off when I landed.
Speaker 7 Man, that's what's up.
Speaker 64 You're from Ohio State, I'm from Alabama, I'm from Montgomery.
Speaker 7 Oh, you from
Speaker 7 how did it let you get out of? How did you get out of how did you get way to Ohio State from Bama?
Speaker 64 NIL.
Speaker 7
That's the way to keep it stacked. Seriously.
Oh, man.
Speaker 64 I think for myself, just in college, man, I ended up going to Old Miss for two years. I played there in the SEC.
Speaker 64
Had a lot of success. And then my last year of college, for my junior year, I was like, man, I want to go somewhere I can compete for a national championship.
So I ended up at Ohio State.
Speaker 64
I felt like that was a great situation. Coach Day was a great tight program.
A lot of talented players there. So I was like, you know, it's no better place to go than Ohio State.
So I end up there.
Speaker 7 Hey, Q, tell me something. You SEC
Speaker 7 freshman of the year, right?
Speaker 64 I was like
Speaker 64
nominee for it or something like that. But yeah, I think I was a freshman of the year.
I can't even remember.
Speaker 7 So you left the SEC to go to Ohio State, huh? Yep.
Speaker 7 Hey, that bag different ain't it, man.
Speaker 64 For me, it wasn't about that, though. You know, like for many different people, like in the game, it's about the money, the car, different.
Speaker 64
For me, it was like at the end of the day, bro, I'm a competitor. I'm trying to go out and, you know, kill it.
Like, I'm trying to go out and, you know, win games as much as possible.
Speaker 64
Because at Omiss, I was putting up 1,500 yards. I'm getting 15 touchdowns a year.
So I'm like, man.
Speaker 64
No, I'm doing all of that, but that's not what fulfills me. That don't make me happy.
So that wasn't what I was chasing.
Speaker 7 You wanted that title? AQ, AQ, Q.
Speaker 7
hey, they don't give me that political. Nah, for real, though.
Nah, for real.
Speaker 7
Come on. Hey, this is your boy.
Come on.
Speaker 7
Don't leave me like that. For real.
Hey.
Speaker 7 Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 7
Let me let you have it. Hey, one thing.
I want to talk about, I want to talk about the Cleveland Browns. And I want to, from the outside looking,
Speaker 7 I don't think you quite understand. Obviously, you in position, but me on the outside looking in, because
Speaker 7 there's been controversy at the quarterback position, do you understand that you are the bell cow, that you are the offense? That offense goes as you go.
Speaker 7
Most of the times it's a star player, a star quarterback, or a star receiver, but you are the nucleus of that offense. And as you go, the rest of the team goes.
Do you quite understand that just yet?
Speaker 7 I think
Speaker 64 just because it's so early on in my career, I quite don't get it yet. But at the same time,
Speaker 64 I understand like the situation in Coach Defanski's offense. And if you go back to Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt and different guys playing in this offense, it's always been able to lean on the run game.
Speaker 64 And I think that's what's very beneficial about playing this offense.
Speaker 64 So I think, you know, just with my mindset, man, like my mentality, regardless of who we playing. that week,
Speaker 64 what plays we installing, just had that same determination, bro, to just go out there and like just leave it all out on the field. But knowing the particular like
Speaker 64 situation, like, yeah, for sure. Knowing that this is a run-first offense, I'm already going to.
Speaker 7 Yeah, but you're in the West Coast system. In the West Coast system, that's zone.
Speaker 7 You put your foot in the dirt and you get downhill.
Speaker 7
And then everything comes after that. Cause now we're going to boot.
We're going to play action.
Speaker 7 Because, look,
Speaker 7 I played in this offense. Now, a lot of it's maybe changed.
Speaker 7 The wording of the verbiage has changed, but you go back and look at the Broncos offense with TD and Clinton Portis and Mike Anderson and Ruben Drones, and you look at the way the team run this offense.
Speaker 7 When you got a running back, when you got a guy, Kristen McCaffrey in San Francisco, Kyron Williams with the Rams, you look at Josh Jacobs with the Packers, when you look, when the run game is efficient.
Speaker 7 This offense is almost impossible.
Speaker 64
Almost, almost, literally, because I feel like that's when we're in our best. When we're clicking in the run game, like, I feel like as a team, man, we're unstoppable.
And that's where
Speaker 64 we continue to get better at and consistently try to go out there on Sundays and put it all together. Because I feel like, like you said, man, that run game is what really helps us.
Speaker 7 What was your expectations?
Speaker 7
What were your goals when you came in? You was dealing with what you did. You was dealing with what you was dealing with that offseason.
I think you got uninvited to the
Speaker 7
draft, but you was going through what you was going through. You was like, okay, this is going to be behind me.
And I'm going to have to put
Speaker 7
what this is, I got to put that behind. And I got to go somewhere and I got to perform at an elite level.
I got to play like I know I can play. What were your expectations for your
Speaker 7 rookie season?
Speaker 64 I think for myself, it was more so a testament to
Speaker 64 what I'm doing when nobody was looking. Because when I wasn't in the building,
Speaker 64 I didn't have
Speaker 64
a strength staff. I didn't have a coach to talk to to go over plays.
I didn't have every resource that I had while I'm here in Cleveland now.
Speaker 64 So it was like the amount of dedication that it took for me to give everything I had and try to perfect my craft when I wasn't around
Speaker 64 and then come back like it like it was nothing and try to get on that same page with no training camp,
Speaker 64 no, no football for what, three months. So
Speaker 64
not having those things and just training, making sure I'm mentally sharp. So when I get that call and I go back, I'm ready.
I think that was my things that I really harped the most.
Speaker 64 Also, other than like physical activity
Speaker 64 was really just making sure, you know, like I'm mentally sharp just because you go through so much, man, and a lot of people don't understand.
Speaker 64 They'll never know what it's like, you know, especially being an athlete and the thing that we deal with.
Speaker 64 But yeah, bro, just really just making sure I'm mentally there all the way sharp, 100%.
Speaker 7 I love that what you said what you were doing when no one was watching because discipline is doing what you should do versus what you want to do
Speaker 7 I'm sure you wanted to hey the boys kicking it they doing they pay hey let me go over here let me part let me kick it but the discipline stay true because I got bigger issue you're the first browns player with three rushing touchdowns in the game since Nick Chubb did it September 18th 2022.
Speaker 7 You had 84 yards rushing, three touchdowns, and you're rookie of the week nominee.
Speaker 7 When you see see things like you've done doing things that hadn't been done by a Browns player in three years, you're doing, you know, being nominated for rookie of the year.
Speaker 7
Look, we all want validation. We put that kind of time in, we put that kind of work in in the offseason.
And to see you plant a tree, you want it to bear fruit. Yeah.
Speaker 7 You're bearing fruit.
Speaker 7 How pleasing, how gratifying, how satisfying is it for like, okay.
Speaker 7
Everything that I did in the offseason, everything that I went through, this is more gratifying. It makes it even more like I knew I was doing the right thing.
For me,
Speaker 64
it more so, like, I'm just, I'm one of those people where it's like, man, I'm just, I'm just trying to chop wood. I'm just trying to chop wood.
You know, what I'm doing is, that's cool.
Speaker 64 But at the same time, like,
Speaker 64 you know, I got bigger goals. I know how I view myself as a competitor, how good I want to be.
Speaker 64 So I don't really think about it, but at the same time, when I look up and knowing what I've been through, knowing like how I persevered, knowing what like different challenges I face.
Speaker 64 And then you see the light at the the end of the tunnel it motivates me personally to like you know keep going and strive to be better so I think just that motivation you get from it and the hunger
Speaker 7 hey Q man as a rookie in the NFL bro living the American dream
Speaker 7 tell me tell me what it's like because I when I look back when I was a rookie playing in the NBA bro
Speaker 7 I couldn't sleep, man. I couldn't sleep.
Speaker 7 I was so geeked for the moment because I'm coming.
Speaker 7 Because when I came in the NBA in 01, it's when Jordan came back, you know, T-Mac, Cole, Vince, Carter, all them dudes who was, you know, they were at the apex.
Speaker 7 So I couldn't sleep nights before games because I was so geeked up for the moment.
Speaker 7 Man, I'm not playing. So, what is it like as a rookie living the American dream? You probably been, you know, wishing for this moment since you was a kid.
Speaker 7 And now that you're actually in it, what is it like?
Speaker 64 Oh, man, I think for me, man, like just finally being here, this this is something you think about your whole life. Like you worked your whole life for this.
Speaker 64
Like you worked since you was this big, like to get to this, to this moment. So it's like you're finally here.
But what I realized was, it's like, okay,
Speaker 7 it's not.
Speaker 64
how fast you can get here. It's how long you can stay.
So
Speaker 64 my thing is, you know, doing everything in my power to, you know, be able to go out there and do this, have the same amount of success, not only for this year, but for a long time and keep that same discipline so that that's one thing i did learn i would say is that you know just having so many good vets too you got a lot of good vets in the locker room and you meet a lot of good players around the league too you develop a lot of relationships i think in college it's more so very
Speaker 64 uh compared to the nfl i would say it's kind of individualized just because guys aren't in locker rooms as long as they are at different organizations in the league so i think in the league man you always have people that you can lean on get advice from, because like coming into this, you know, a lot of stuff moves super fast.
Speaker 64 So having somebody that you can ask different questions to, so you're not just hit by the blind for real, for real.
Speaker 7 Right.
Speaker 7 Hey, how's the body holding up? Good. I feel, I feel good.
Speaker 64
You know, I used to get, I got a lot of carriers when I was at O Miss. I used to get a lot of carries.
And then last year at Ohio State, I think I had like maybe 300, 255.
Speaker 64 So I was used to being the bail cop guy, you know?
Speaker 7 So I feel good, though. Okay.
Speaker 7 as the quarterback look he started out and you know you know gabriel gets drafted and shadur comes in and we know what shadur we know what that last name brings you got uh uh uh joe flacco and you got picket and they okay we're gonna move on we go in this direction and now has that the quarterback the situation with gabriel and shadur is he gonna get reps is he gonna start is he gonna play has that impacted the locker room in any way no i think with our team we all so close and we got a lot of we got so many young guys, man.
Speaker 64 It's like in our locker room, we genuinely, it's almost like you in college again.
Speaker 7 It feels like, for real, for real, like, damn, like, locker room full of young guys, but.
Speaker 64 Man, it's just like the energy there, regardless of who playing, those two guys, they always support each other, man. Like, it was a clip I seen
Speaker 64 on the internet the other day, and it was like them walking down the sideline and just talking, laughing about, I think we had just scored a touchdown or something. But that's who they genuinely are.
Speaker 64 That's who they truly are.
Speaker 64 They they are competitors but at the same time they want what's best for each other and I don't think it's ever been turmoil or any any word said by anybody on our team like about who's our quarterback we all 100% support Dylan I even played him when I was at Ohio State twice I played him at Oregon once and then I played him again in Pasadena California at the Rose Bowl so I got to see him and how he is as a quarterback he's super talented bro he's like super smart he processes really fast and he's a great player.
Speaker 64 So I'm excited to see how he develop in his career.
Speaker 7
That's amazing. Man, Q, thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for giving some time. Congratulations on your early success.
Continue success. Stay healthy.
Speaker 7 And, you know, when it's all said and done, at the end of the year, you go over a thousand yards. Come back and tell us how I appreciate y'all.
Speaker 7 Appreciate you, man. All right.
Speaker 7 Later. Yo.
Speaker 7 Hey, tell Denzel Ward, he can't stop you.
Speaker 64 Hey, look, I be telling that practice,
Speaker 64 he be getting mad.
Speaker 7
I be like, bro, I've been that corner on your ass, boy. I'm 220.
I still do it.
Speaker 7
Yeah, I'm like that. I'm going to hit him, though.
I'm going to let him know.
Speaker 7 I appreciate that, man.
Speaker 1 What a matchup we got, y'all.
Speaker 2 This is that classic HBCU vibe.
Speaker 4 Non-stop action.
Speaker 5 The band is rocking and the crowd lick.
Speaker 6 Chance echo.
Speaker 7 Drum beating.
Speaker 4 Everybody's showing that school pride.
Speaker 6 Game like this?
Speaker 8 Yeah, it calls for an ice-cold Coca-Cola.
Speaker 9 Ah, crisp and refreshing.
Speaker 10 That's a game changer right there.
Speaker 7 Mmm, yeah.
Speaker 12 That taste always hits the right note, just like a band at halftime.
Speaker 9 Fan work is thirsty work.
Speaker 16 So grab a Coca-Cola and keep that HBCU pride going.
