Shannon Sharpe sits down with Claressa Shields, the world’s best active female boxer and the most decorated woman in the history of the sport. She kicks off the episode in the ring, giving Shannon a hands-on lesson in how to throw jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts, and full combinations while breaking down championship footwork, defensive strategy, counters, and the mindset required to deliver a knockout.

From there, Claressa takes Shannon through her extraordinary rise. She opens up about surviving a childhood marked by a mother battling addiction, a father in prison, years of sexual abuse, and the devastating loss of her grandmother. Those experiences pushed her into the role of protector for her siblings and eventually taught her to stand up to bullies at school. Boxing became more than a sport—it was her escape, her sense of purpose, and ultimately the force that saved her life after two suicide attempts.

Shields reflects on her first and only amateur loss, which came when her coach couldn’t travel with her, and emphasizes how vital strong leadership is in a fighter’s corner. She also shares the moment she became the youngest American boxer ever to win Olympic gold. Claressa talks about the time she had to spar an internet troll, and she revisits how she negotiated equal Olympic pay for women before graduating high school as the first in her family to do so.

Her conversation with Shannon expands into her views on trans athletes in women’s sports; her encounters with NBA legends like Kevin Durant and LeBron James during the Olympics; and the challenges of colorism and online criticism aimed at her and Serena Williams. She speaks candidly about pressures to change her appearance, lessons she’s learned about money, and the moment she became the first woman to earn $1 million in a boxing match.

Shields then breaks down her transition into MMA, including training with Jon Jones, how the sport differs from boxing, and whether she’d ever consider jumping into WWE. She offers unfiltered takes on Canelo Alvarez, Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis, Floyd Mayweather vs. Mike Tyson, Terence “Bud” Crawford’s legacy, and her complicated rivalry with Laila Ali—complete with the $15 million offer still on the table.

As it concludes, Claressa opens up about her plans for motherhood and her friendships with Kash Doll and singing with Summer Walker. She dives into the music she listens to before fights, her mental process walking into the ring, the dirtiest tactics she’s experienced, the injuries she’s fought through, her weight-cut routines, and where negotiations stand for her next fight—including conversations with Netflix.

Speaker 30 This is Bowen Yang from Lost Culturalistos with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.

Speaker 29 Hey, Bowen, it's gift season.

Speaker 30 Stressing me out. Why are the people I love so hard to shop for?

Speaker 29 Probably because they only make boring gift guides that are totally uninspired. Except for the guide we made.

Speaker 29 In partnership with Marshalls, where premium gifts meet incredible value, it's giving gifts with categories like best gifts for the mom whose idea of a sensible walking shoe is a stiletto.

Speaker 30 Or best gifts for me that were so thoughtful I really shouldn't have. Check out the guide on marshalls.com and gift the good stuff at marshalls.

Speaker 34 Thank you for coming back. Part two is underway.

Speaker 35 Have you ever been pressured to have cosmetic surgery?

Speaker 37 This past year with all the

Speaker 37 judging and all the people trying to say that I'm fat or trying to body shame me or whatever because in camp I got a six pack and I'm really, you know, cut up and stuff.

Speaker 37 But then out of camp, I don't mind having a little stomach or whatever.

Speaker 37 I don't mind that.

Speaker 37 But when I see

Speaker 37 people judging me and saying that I should get stuff done,

Speaker 37 people say I should get my nose done, which I think my face is. What? I think my face is perfect.
but this is, these are just haters. Yeah, you, you got to understand people saying this stuff.
But

Speaker 37 with me, I would love to, I heard that when you go and get these body surgeries done, that sometimes you go on there, they fix your body up and get the, and get the fat off, and then you come back and you 30 pounds smaller.

Speaker 37 But you got to let your body heal for months or whatever the case may be. Yeah.
And you, me hearing that be like, hmm,

Speaker 37 ain't got to work out to lose 30 pounds, but I can go down a few more weight classes and win some more titles.

Speaker 37 But in my mind, it's like, I'd rather work it off. Yeah.
You know, and do that instead of being cut on and whatever the case. Because I'm really scared of knives and needles.

Speaker 37 I don't know how I got tattoos, but I'm really scared of that. So that's the pressure there when they come judging you about your size.
But I'm happy with my size. That's why it doesn't bother me.

Speaker 37 It don't bother me. But these girls be looking cut up.
They're going to get their abs done now. Yeah.
I mean, girls don't even work out.

Speaker 37 be having better abs than me and i'd be like golly what's going on but then you know you got these filters and everything else and they do body shaping whatever and i've always been just a person just to give it to you how it is right you know what i'm saying so i'm going to continue to to be like that i just know that for my next fight i'm going to cut up i'm going to come more so what what weight i believe 175.

Speaker 35 175.

Speaker 35 so you're gonna i mean or or you only 188 that's 10 pounds or 168 because they got some girls who got belts down there with you you want to take so you don't want nobody to have no belts No, no, no, they can have some.

Speaker 37 Just if they call me out, I'm like the boogie woman. I show up.
Some girls have been calling me out, but I've already called them out before, but they didn't want to fight.

Speaker 37 But now, I guess they want to fight now.

Speaker 35 So they got courage now, honey. Liquor courage, I guess, yeah.

Speaker 35 You're the first woman to make a million dollars from a boxing match.

Speaker 35 When you got that money, what was the first thing you did? You buy something special for yourself? You get something real nice?

Speaker 37 When I, when I, well, one, just to give you a little, just a little history. Okay.
Okay. When I lost right before the Olympic tournament in China, I lost to Savannah Marshall.

Speaker 35 Okay.

Speaker 37 See, God got a funny way of humor because I made my first million beating up who? Savannah Marshall.

Speaker 37 And I beat her up in the UK in front of 20,000 of her fans in the UK at the O2 Arena.

Speaker 35 And I made a million bucks.

Speaker 37 Left with a black eye, but she left with her face marked up, no belt.

Speaker 35 You lumped up, huh?

Speaker 37 Yeah, yeah, I lumped her up pretty good. But she was a knockout artist too, though.
13 and oh, 12 knockouts, whatever. I went in there and showed her how to really fight.

Speaker 37 So with that, when I got my first million, I think I went and bought me a Camaro, a 2022. Yeah.

Speaker 37 I don't think I spent a lot of money like that. I'm more of a saver.
So I went and bought the Camaro.

Speaker 37 I went and got my kitchen redone in my house. That was in Flint.

Speaker 35 And you were practical.

Speaker 35 I said you was practical with your money.

Speaker 37 Yeah, I didn't just like splurge. I've always helped family with this or with that.

Speaker 37 But I probably spent, out of that million, I probably spent like

Speaker 38 maybe

Speaker 37 70, 80K the first month or two. And then after that, I kind of put the rest of the money up.

Speaker 35 Right. But you know, when you get money, you know, that brings a lot, that brings a lot, especially family.
Yeah. I come from a family that, you know, hey, I'm very fortunate that my brother played.

Speaker 35 It's only three, three of us, my brother, me, my brother, my sister, you know.

Speaker 37 Yeah, you just helped induct him in a Hall of Fame, right? I saw that. I saw that.

Speaker 35 But it's hard because they see, and then everybody got this idea. They got a business.
They want to open up a business. They need X, Y, and Z.
I'm like, bro.

Speaker 35 So how hard is it? How hard is it to say no?

Speaker 37 It's not hard now.

Speaker 35 But it was at first, though.

Speaker 37 Yeah, it was very hard at first because you feel like you want to help everybody and you want to believe in everybody's dreams, you know, but it just was like, ah.

Speaker 37 Nah, now I'm saving my money for my future family.

Speaker 37 And also, too, so my sister has three kids.

Speaker 37 And me and my sister are very close. So her kids are like my kids.

Speaker 37 So I got to make sure that I got college money for them.

Speaker 37 So when it comes to that, I haven't had my own kids yet, but when I do, they're going to fall right in line with that. And kids are expensive.

Speaker 35 Yeah. And you want 10 of them?

Speaker 37 No, I just want four now.

Speaker 35 You still realize that's still a lot of kids in today's time.

Speaker 37 Man, I got a seven-bedroom house 30 minutes from here. I think we'd be like.

Speaker 35 you got to put kids in all the parents.

Speaker 37 Yeah, we're going to have kids. You know, one of the kids can be in a room right there next to mine and the other room and the other room.
They didn't go downstairs in another room down there.

Speaker 35 So yeah, it's fine.

Speaker 37 I don't mind it.

Speaker 35 But I mean, at some point,

Speaker 35 how old are you now? 30. 30.

Speaker 35 I mean, so at some point in time, you're going to have to start, you know, thinking about like, okay, gloves.

Speaker 35 Hanging the gloves up. Yeah, but.
I don't know.

Speaker 37 You're going to have babies and come back and fight yes i gotta get all the fighting out of me before i stop fighting or i'm gonna be in jail

Speaker 37 yes like right now i'm in a space to where i like to still to to to still fight right you know i feel like in my career like yes i've won 19 world championships yes i've five different weight classes four time undisputed all this stuff but it's like it's still

Speaker 37 some butt out there needs to get kicked you know and it's like i want to kick this girl's butt and then i think everything i then I can maybe train some kids because I'm training my niece right now and my nephew.

Speaker 37 Right. So it's like, I can train some kids and kind of live through them.
But right now, I'm living through myself, and these girls can get it

Speaker 37 right now.

Speaker 35 You tried MMA. You said MMA.

Speaker 37 You tried it. I was good at it.

Speaker 35 Yeah, but you were two in one.

Speaker 37 Yeah, yeah, two and one.

Speaker 35 Would you try it again? Would you go back into it again, or would you good with the boxing?

Speaker 37 You're going to stick with the boxing. Well, I made millions to do a job that I'm the greatest at.
Right. So I'm not going back to MMA.
I'll only make it 200K.

Speaker 37 Which is, hey, it's a lot.

Speaker 35 Yeah.

Speaker 35 But. 200K

Speaker 35 ain't more than a million.

Speaker 37 And I had to train six months for each fight.

Speaker 37 So take coming away from my family, just six months of nothing but groundwork to get ready for one fight.

Speaker 37 Listen, MMA,

Speaker 37 I give it out to them girls. Y'all got it.

Speaker 35 Y'all got it.

Speaker 37 If y'all want to see me, come to boxing. But I went over there and I fought under their rules.

Speaker 37 I was able to win two fights and I lost one split decision. I got me a knockout over there, but hey,

Speaker 37 and I got some of the best fans too, right? But it's just, it's not enough time in the day. Hey, I started training when I was 17 at the same age that you started boxing.

Speaker 37 Oh, if I started doing MMA training at the age of 11,

Speaker 37 like I did boxing, oh man, what

Speaker 37 is you crazy?

Speaker 37 I think I would, I always say all I need is

Speaker 37 two years of nothing but MMA training, nothing but just no, like no boxing, nothing but MMA

Speaker 37 training and sparring and fighting. I believe that I could win a MMA championship either in the PFL or the UFC or the UFC.
But I don't, I don't have two years to do that. Yeah.

Speaker 35 What about WWE? Would you do WWE? Yeah.

Speaker 37 Bianca and Jay Carski and them all my girls.

Speaker 37 Trinity, I'm like, I'm in contact with all of them girls.

Speaker 37 Me and Bianca said that we're going to do something one day. Wow.
So, yeah, I know that I want to have a life in MMA.

Speaker 35 I don't know how long, but I know that it's possible.

Speaker 37 I actually have an interview with Stephanie McMahon

Speaker 33 four days up in New York.

Speaker 37 So, I look forward to seeing her there, and maybe we can get something together. She actually gifted me a WWE belt.

Speaker 35 Wow.

Speaker 37 I have one at my house.

Speaker 35 You see a lot of MMA fighters.

Speaker 35 Connor McGregor the most noted I mean Falk Floyd $100 million and we see some of these MMA fighters wanting to do boxing yeah um because the money obviously ain't no boxer going to MMA under their rules it's a whole it's a whole different ball game over there it's a lot easier for a box for an MMA fighter to do boxing than men

Speaker 35 yeah

Speaker 35 How big of a payday do you think you can get in women's boxing? I know the fact that you won't.

Speaker 35 I know the fact that that you won't and you believe you could get $15, $20 million.

Speaker 35 More than that, but why you want to beat up?

Speaker 32 She's 47.

Speaker 37 No, I want to get something clear.

Speaker 37 Like I was telling you from the beginning, you talk trash to me.

Speaker 35 I talk trash to you.

Speaker 37 I feel like we should fight. She has said plenty of times that she feels she can knock me out.
I'm not skilled enough. I'm not talented enough, whatever, right?

Speaker 37 And she can feel that way. But

Speaker 37 when you say it and you, and then you say it with such conviction. Right.
And you're just, and I definitely knock her out, right?

Speaker 37 She can't do this. She can't do that.
She's not this. She's not that.
All I'm saying is, I think we should prove it. I don't think it should be a thing of

Speaker 37 a diss back and forth for it. No, it's more of a, I think I'm better than you.
You think you're better than me.

Speaker 35 Well, let's prove it. How the heck is that? Somebody got to be right.
Somebody got to be wrong.

Speaker 37 Yeah, and she the one said that she would make the fight happen. That she said the money was there, the fight could happen.
But honestly, too, it's other, I got bigger fish to fry than Layla, right?

Speaker 37 But it's more of I entertained the fight because she said she would be me. It's not me calling her out because, oh, she's old and all that stuff.
It was like,

Speaker 37 wait a minute, she said she'd knock me up. She said she a better fighter than me.
That's what that was. And she said she can come out of retirement and she could do it.
So all I'm saying is.

Speaker 35 It's been two decades probably since she fought, right? A decade, at least a decade and a half, yeah.

Speaker 37 But

Speaker 37 when I'm retired, a decade and decade and a half, you're not gonna hear me saying how I can beat these young girls unless I'm ready to come back out to do it. So, so that's my thing.
People think

Speaker 37 it's about something else, it ain't about nothing else but that. She said she can beat me, I said she can't.
We should fight. That's it.
I don't think it should go.

Speaker 35 You ain't gonna keep going back and forth. Are you done with it? Are you done with

Speaker 35 the verbal sparring?

Speaker 35 No.

Speaker 37 I think that

Speaker 37 I haven't seen the latest stuff, whatever that stuff is that she did. I heard about it.
I haven't seen it. I've been focused on, as you know, I'm a free agent.

Speaker 35 Right.

Speaker 37 And I've been focused on locking in my next deal for my next couple of fights for millions of dollars.

Speaker 35 I'm trying to lock that in.

Speaker 37 I've been negotiating with people who... anybody you can think of who got boxing money, seeing who's coming with the best deal and the best opportunity for me and my family.

Speaker 37 So, I haven't been paying attention to that.

Speaker 35 But

Speaker 35 I mean, she's a little bit that you were,

Speaker 35 you know, she was a role model of yours, and she's giving you some great advice about how to build your brand and things like that. She posted things, and you were very complimentary of her.
You were.

Speaker 35 And I don't know where

Speaker 35 the split and the

Speaker 35 animosity or acrimony or whatever term you want to use, I don't know where it came from. You said that she said that you weren't that skilled.

Speaker 35 I think you said that, something she wasn't that you weren't that skilled and she would do X, Y, and Z and she could beat you.

Speaker 37 Yeah, but like I said, I think

Speaker 37 a breakfast club interview, they asked her when she came out of retirement and she said, there's no one who inspires me or who would give me a good challenge.

Speaker 37 So she wasn't just talking about me.

Speaker 35 She's talking about everybody who's boxing.

Speaker 37 She's saying, listen, there's a lot of girls there. They all good, but none of them are good enough to give me a good challenge for me to come back out of Richard.

Speaker 35 But you right now, you the Michael Jordan the boxing.

Speaker 37 Well, tell her that.

Speaker 37 But I wasn't supposed to take that any kind of way. That's what she said that I took wrong.

Speaker 35 Oh.

Speaker 37 Which it was like,

Speaker 37 how can I take that wrong?

Speaker 37 You said it.

Speaker 35 You the LeBron James the boxer.

Speaker 37 Yeah, and you said there's nobody good enough that can give you a challenge.

Speaker 35 to make you you said i can't even give you a challenge let alone be you said i can't even challenge you and i got all these belts i'm under

Speaker 37 three divisions So, back then, whenever that interview was, which was years and years and years ago, that is what started it.

Speaker 37 And all I did was say, like, if she thinks that she can just come out of retirement after not fighting me, me, after not fighting all these years and beat me, she in for a rude awakening. Right.

Speaker 37 And at this time, I loved her. You know what I'm saying? And I had her phone, I had her number in my phone as Big Sis Layla.
So it's like, now,

Speaker 37 At this point, I'm 30 years old now. I think this beat's been going on since I was 23, 24.

Speaker 35 Yeah, I I think it's time to put it to pay. Y'all ain't gonna fight.

Speaker 37 Well, listen, I'm cool with that. It's other, I got bigger fish to fry who's actually active, who actually want to get in the ring.

Speaker 37 Did I say active already? Like, these girls really want to

Speaker 32 fight.

Speaker 37 Right? And right now, I'm like the cash cow. So you fight against me, you get paid the most money that you ever got paid.
Right. Right.
And I'm trying to make the most money.

Speaker 37 So I don't really care about a fight with me and her. I just caught her buff when she said the 15 million.
I just made sure that we had it and I said, hey, we got it. What's up?

Speaker 37 And then I guess that's what led to this latest thing. People told me that it was a hate documentary.

Speaker 37 And

Speaker 37 I haven't listened to it yet.

Speaker 37 And I don't think that I am going to listen to it because I have better things to do with my time. But other than that, listen, I ain't got nothing against her, man.
I don't.

Speaker 37 I just don't think that she can beat me in a fight. And she thinks that she can.
And it ain't never going to be able to happen because.

Speaker 35 as time goes by, she's getting older. And you know, you're gonna want to sit that settle down.
You say you don't mind, you know, you would come back and fight after you have kids.

Speaker 35 But as she's getting older, she ain't gonna be fighting in no 50.

Speaker 37 Question: Yes, ma'am.

Speaker 37 Ocho says, Shannon, I got 15 million for you to fight against me in the ring. What you gonna say to Ocho?

Speaker 35 It might just be nightcap with Unk.

Speaker 35 But I'm saying,

Speaker 37 you either got a yes

Speaker 16 or no.

Speaker 37 You don't got all this.

Speaker 35 But see, I think the thing is.

Speaker 37 Who you got beef with?

Speaker 37 Somebody you don't like.

Speaker 35 I don't want to say it, but they know.

Speaker 37 Okay, all right. So they know.
So this person come and say.

Speaker 36 For free.

Speaker 34 It ain't gonna be no money.

Speaker 35 I don't need no money.

Speaker 37 Okay, so this person come and say, hey, man, I got 15 million for me and you to fight. What you gonna say?

Speaker 35 I fight you for $15.

Speaker 39 15 cents.

Speaker 31 Yes.

Speaker 37 Well, that's how easy I feel like this conversation was. I don't think all the extra stuff and whatever is needed.

Speaker 39 Right. Honestly.

Speaker 35 Who's an exhibition fight that we can get Clarissa to fight? Who in an exhibition we can get somebody to fight?

Speaker 37 It's hard to make exhibition fights in women's boxing, man. It's hard because these,

Speaker 37 you know, you're not going to get a YouTuber who just be fighting on the internet and then she's going to come and fight against me. Right.

Speaker 37 Because my accolade and you know, who I am. Yeah.
You know.

Speaker 37 I feel like everybody is out to protect their brand type of deal. So

Speaker 37 I don't know. I wanted to fight against Amena Nunaz in boxing.

Speaker 37 I feel like that would be a great fight. Yeah.
Right?

Speaker 35 Christine Cyborg.

Speaker 35 Who? Cyborg.

Speaker 35 Who?

Speaker 35 Okay.

Speaker 37 Now, let me think about somebody else. Who I think can actually get inside of the ring and like fight.

Speaker 37 I look at the cross-branding of it. Maybe a baddie.
Some of those girls you see fighting on baddies, like like Ivory, one of them. You know what I'm saying? But those girls.

Speaker 35 They can't bang for real, though, Carissa. Not no.

Speaker 37 I mean, now, who can bang like me in boxing?

Speaker 35 But I'm just saying, I mean,

Speaker 35 it's got to be like there's a realistic chance.

Speaker 35 I ain't saying they can beat you, but it's got to be

Speaker 35 more than 20 seconds.

Speaker 35 I mean,

Speaker 37 well, in that case, I don't know. Up in that case, but I mean, it's girls who I think about, like I said, Amanda Nunez.

Speaker 35 What if we get a YouTuber guy that's not Jake Paul? What if we get a YouTube guy?

Speaker 37 Oh, yeah, of course, of course.

Speaker 35 Hold on. Sorry.

Speaker 37 Of course, Jake, listen, Jake Paul can always get it. I always tell him that he can always get it.

Speaker 35 Why would you try to fight a man? He's 200 pounds.

Speaker 37 He talked too much.

Speaker 37 That's why.

Speaker 37 Listen, Jake Paul knows that I won't smoke with him. I told him that, listen, me and him could just spar.
We didn't even got to fight with no cameras. I just want to show him,

Speaker 37 look what I'll do to you, big man.

Speaker 35 You upset that Javante is going to fight Jake Paul. I'm not upset about that.

Speaker 35 Do you think he should fight him?

Speaker 37 Yes. Get the bag.
Get the money. But I always think he should fight against Lamont Roach and Shakur and T.O.

Speaker 35 and Devin Haney.

Speaker 35 Do you believe Lamont Roach beat Javante?

Speaker 37 Now,

Speaker 37 if you count the knockdown, I would say the fight should have went the other way. Yeah.
But the fight, if you want to give it a draw, I feel like Lamont took his foot off the gas at the end.

Speaker 37 So I'm not mad about the decision. But the thing is, I want people to understand about my take on tank is this.

Speaker 37 I'm a boxer, but I'm a boxing fan.

Speaker 37 I just want to see you fight against the best dudes. I want to see you fight against a dude who disrespected you, who talked bad about you, who, you know, who said that you ain't that good.

Speaker 37 Go in there and prove your greatness. That's all it is with me.
I don't really have nothing against Tang. Like, we had a back and forth probably about a year ago or something like that.

Speaker 35 But

Speaker 37 that's like I've been knowing him since I was a kid, since we were like 16, 15. You know what I'm saying? So it's nothing like

Speaker 37 that. You know what I'm saying? People think that

Speaker 37 I got something against Tank. Like, I think when he came to me on social media and I came at him, whatever he said to me, I said bad shit back to him, too.
So

Speaker 37 it was a back and forth, but it was more like, as far as in now, when I say what I'm saying, it's like

Speaker 37 Tank is a powerhouse. He's a great fighter.
I want him to find a way to manage whatever is going on up here. and live out to his legacy.

Speaker 35 Who you want him to fight? Shakur or you wanted to fight him? Everybody.

Speaker 37 Listen, fight Shakur. Fight Tia Femo.
Fight Devin Haney. Fight

Speaker 35 Debrima Lopez. I think Loma Loma, didn't Lomachenko retire? Yeah.

Speaker 35 I haven't heard that. Did he? I think Lomachenko retired.
Wow. I didn't know that.
But that's what I want to see.

Speaker 35 I miss the glory days where the best fought the best.

Speaker 37 That's what I missed. And I think that if he understands that, he will understand that it's not a thing about me coming at you, bro.

Speaker 37 It's a thing about me wanting to see the best fights because I'm a boxing fan and I just want to see it. Like,

Speaker 37 as terrified as i was that terrence was going up three way classes to fight against canelo

Speaker 35 i'm like this is still gonna be a good fight because terrence is terrence terrence is terrorist cross and bud wired differently though exactly so we're just like but still though that's like you want to see the best fights and the best fight is that that's what the best fight he said in order for me in order for me to enhance my legacy yeah only there is nobody else from 154 down that i can fight that can give me what canelo can give and it was a hell of a fight he He was.

Speaker 35 I love it. Bud put on the show.
He did. He put on the show.

Speaker 35 But these guys don't, now the guys don't care about the bank. They don't care about legacy.
They don't. Because they're not willing to take, they're not willing.
Because you know what happened, Floyd?

Speaker 35 Listen. Everybody want to be Floyd.
Everybody want to retire undefeated.

Speaker 37 I want to be Floyd, but I want to have my legacy intact, too.

Speaker 35 But they don't.

Speaker 37 I've been in women's boxing. You don't make no money unless you got legacy.
Right. Like, I can talk all this.
Talk all this trash, call out all these girls

Speaker 37 and have a big mouth, but with no accomplishments, they're they're not going to pay you. You got to go out there and get it.
So, for me, legacy is what pays the bills.

Speaker 37 Going chasing the belts, fighting the best competition, that's what pays the bills.

Speaker 37 Like, I believe my next fight deal that I'll be signing

Speaker 37 is really big.

Speaker 37 It's really big.

Speaker 37 And it's in the works right now

Speaker 37 as we sit here and speak.

Speaker 37 This deal goes through and everything is the right way. I'll be able to say that

Speaker 37 everything paid, paid off in great dividend.

Speaker 37 Right? I'll be able to say a lot of things about how much I make, my pay,

Speaker 37 how I made it to here.

Speaker 35 But you'll also have a legacy.

Speaker 37 Yeah, but that's what I'm saying. So people say that they don't care about legacy.
It's like, it's really confusing to me. It's like, bro.

Speaker 35 They don't. Ryan Garcia has never won a title.
Right.

Speaker 37 But they think he can, he tried to go around and he say all the stuff that he's saying. He's saying he's such a great fighter, whatever, whatever.

Speaker 37 But he's lost, came back, lost again, whatever, whatever.

Speaker 37 He got a huge following, but it's like, at the end of the day, your hardcore following is the sport that you do, boxing. So

Speaker 37 they're going to start realizing like, bro, you don't even have a world title.

Speaker 35 Yeah, you talking, but you ain't, you talking like you're a four or five time champ, and you're not.

Speaker 37 And you're not. So therefore, now it's time for you to go get it.
Like, either you want to, this whole social media stuff, people got to remember it's fake.

Speaker 46 Yes.

Speaker 37 It's fake. Real life matters stuff you can touch tangible yes it matters so when you got the belts the gold medals the

Speaker 37 the the accomplishments when you don't put your hands on them and whoop they ass that matters

Speaker 37 that matters man so so for me I don't get caught up in the older legacy and who want to I think that that's to make people not want to trace not want to chase their dreams as much as they as they should because people can say what they want but

Speaker 37 Floyd Mayworth got the legacy and the money Yes. He got the both of them.

Speaker 35 But Floyd, what Floyd did the Conor McGregor thing, after he became what he became, he wasn't doing it in the prime of his career.

Speaker 37 I mean, but that's clear as day. It's very clear.

Speaker 35 Yes. But these guys are willing, like, no, you know what? I'm in the prime of my career.
Let me go fight Jake Paul.

Speaker 35 And look, he's going to probably make more money, Clarissa, in this fight than he'd make in his next two, three fights. So I get it.
I get it. But I think the thing is,

Speaker 35 it's going to do harm to his legacy.

Speaker 37 Well, he's fought some championships and stuff, but I think

Speaker 37 it'll be 20 years from now, everybody will be saying, oh,

Speaker 37 he didn't fight against Shakur. He didn't fight against Devin.
He didn't fight against Tiafimo. You know, and.

Speaker 37 And that will, I feel like, hurt his legacy. But hey.
If you say that, it don't matter to him. It don't matter.

Speaker 35 He's like, look, man,

Speaker 35 I'm going to have on a,

Speaker 35 have mink slippers. I'll be good.

Speaker 37 Some of them girls be saying, like,

Speaker 37 if I'm gonna cry, like, I wanna cry in the men's.

Speaker 32 Yeah,

Speaker 32 girls will say that

Speaker 35 Javante and he's gonna fight Jake. You think Javante can beat Jake?

Speaker 37 Yeah,

Speaker 37 I think he can beat him, but I think it's gonna be a real, like,

Speaker 37 circus, clownish kind of fight. Because not like a clown or whatever, but I'm saying I think the fight is gonna be like

Speaker 37 nobody can really like punch in the head and judge it because it's like Tank is really short. Yeah.
And Jake Paul got some height on him. He's bigger.
Yeah.

Speaker 37 I don't know.

Speaker 35 I mean, Javante fights at 140.

Speaker 37 130.

Speaker 41 5, right?

Speaker 35 Okay, so now Jake Paul's at 210, 215.

Speaker 37 Yeah, it's crazy out here.

Speaker 35 It's crazy.

Speaker 37 But, I mean, The lack of Jake Paul's skill plus his size and with

Speaker 37 Tank having a skill that he has and his power, it doesn't equalize the fight, but it make you where it's like, okay, it's not too much of an advantage for Jake and not too much of an advantage for Tank.

Speaker 37 I think Tank overall is the better fighter. He's a way better fighter than Jake Paul, but it's going to be a very awkward fight because the size is like...

Speaker 37 700 pounds is a lot. That's like me and you getting in the ring.

Speaker 37 Like, I mean, I got my skill.

Speaker 35 I'm at the wrong circles around you, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 37 But But I touch you in the stomach a little bit, make you sweat. But it's going to be like, hey, if Shannon catches you with that one,

Speaker 37 you out of here. So that's kind of how the fight is.
It's like,

Speaker 37 when he gets close enough to Jake and he hit him, is it going to be effective? And when Jake just gets the swinging and stuff back,

Speaker 37 what the hell that's going to do? Right. So that is a very awkward fight.
Yeah.

Speaker 35 Ryan, the Ryan Garfield say a tank fight. If the rehydration clause isn't in there, do you believe Ryan can beat Tank?

Speaker 37 No.

Speaker 37 No.

Speaker 37 I don't think Ryan Garcia can beat Tank. Where the rehydration clause was in there or not.

Speaker 35 You know, a lot of people believe.

Speaker 35 De La Hoya said he believed that Ryan can beat Tank if they didn't have a rehydration clause.

Speaker 37 Very interesting.

Speaker 37 I mean, he posted it, like, ain't he signed to him?

Speaker 35 He posted that.

Speaker 37 But no, Tank, Tank is a bad man, man. I think the only person who I think can beat tank in a in a fight is Shakur Stevenson.

Speaker 35 You think Shakur can beat it? Yes.

Speaker 37 He can handle that power?

Speaker 35 Yes, he can.

Speaker 37 He got to get hit with that power.

Speaker 35 Yeah.

Speaker 37 It's hard to hit Shakur.

Speaker 35 Yeah, it's hard. But you do realize in order to hit somebody, you got to subject yourself to get hit.

Speaker 37 Hey, did you see Shakur last fight with?

Speaker 35 Yeah, he made the guy was swinging. Yeah.

Speaker 37 Hey, but he stood right there in the pocket with him. Traded with him.

Speaker 35 You want to trade with Tank? He want to trade with Tank?

Speaker 37 If you keep your hands up and your chin down and you be skillful, but you can't just be out there just chin up and you're not paying attention. But

Speaker 37 Shakur is tougher than what y'all give him credit for. Okay.
He's very tough.

Speaker 37 And when I say tough, I don't mean dumb.

Speaker 37 He's very tough.

Speaker 37 And he's mean. He got dimples and stuff, but

Speaker 37 Shakur smiled at you.

Speaker 39 You think, oh, yeah, you're okay.

Speaker 37 No, Shakur is like that.

Speaker 35 Floyd, you're going to fight Mike Tyson.

Speaker 32 Yeah, I see that.

Speaker 35 That's the even more weight disparity. I don't know what's going on.
Because Mike, you've got to be 230.

Speaker 37 I don't know how this stuff be happening. You know what I mean?

Speaker 35 Fuck the money.

Speaker 35 If it make dollars, it makes sense.

Speaker 37 Yeah, so what you asking me?

Speaker 34 You like that?

Speaker 35 I'm like, damn, it ain't no women out there that I can fight and get me a quick 10, 15 meal.

Speaker 31 I mean,

Speaker 37 listen,

Speaker 37 I'm going to get to the money, but I don't think I'm ever going to be able to get it.

Speaker 35 I'm talking some easy money.

Speaker 37 It's been easy this far. But I'm trying to figure out, like, women don't, don't, don't do that.
Right. You know what I'm saying? Even if you offer them a lot of money.

Speaker 37 Like, they're like, I'm not about to, like, like, people have to realize that some women have never, ever been into a fight. Yeah, true.

Speaker 37 Like, you may see these girls fighting on TV or on these shows, but it's women who watch that and be like, I would die before I let somebody take it.

Speaker 37 Like, it got girls who will run and try to fight them. Like, they'll run to their car and lock the door.
Yeah. So,

Speaker 37 fighting is not something that psychologically everybody can do. You're right.
And everybody can't deal with an ass whooping either. No.
So, that's what I'm saying. Like,

Speaker 37 it's different for women. Like, a man can deal with an asshole better than a woman.

Speaker 35 They bring that peace with them. Okay, well.
Ain't nobody taking no ass cut no more.

Speaker 35 Yeah.

Speaker 35 Clarissa, the guys

Speaker 35 because the internet. Yeah.
The internet makes it forever. See, it used to be a time you could take an ass cut and you could tell your body.
But now you got to show it, and I'm going to be a meme.

Speaker 41 Yeah.

Speaker 35 You got somebody got their arm all stiff and they shake it up.

Speaker 37 Yeah. No,

Speaker 37 but that's what I'm saying. For me,

Speaker 37 up in boxing or whatever, an exhibition fight not going to happen. And you know what? Now that we're talking about Mike Tyson versus

Speaker 37 Floyd, we talk about how when Jake Paul fought against Mike Tyson, right? And it was like the age disparity, like the age difference. I believe Jake Paul is younger than me.
Yeah. I'm 30.
What is he?

Speaker 37 27? 27. Yeah,

Speaker 37 right. Somewhere in there.

Speaker 35 Mike Tyson's almost 50.

Speaker 72 I mean, almost 60.

Speaker 35 I think he's almost 60. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 37 Yeah, so with that gate, with that age gap, when I hear them talk about me versus

Speaker 37 Layla, I'd be like, hell, we closer in age than

Speaker 36 they was.

Speaker 35 True.

Speaker 37 You know, but

Speaker 37 I don't think that an exhibition fighter or something like that is ever gonna happen. It can happen for women, and then especially not for me, right? Maybe some other women can do it, right?

Speaker 37 You know, who's not as threatening as me, yeah, but I don't think it's gonna happen, but I'm still gonna make a lot of money, regardless of that.

Speaker 35 Yeah, you were at the bud fight, so you got an opportunity to see Bud up close against Canada.

Speaker 35 He put on the clinic, great, he was great. He was all the way in, or he was all the way out, he wasn't in between.
He, hey, he was, hey,

Speaker 35 he was, he was, he was, yeah,

Speaker 35 he was bud, bud, but see, bud has a different mindset bud mean for real bud

Speaker 35 bud has to for real bud fight see bud grew up in omaha and people look at omaha no no but bud was fighting for real and and when i sat down with him in february and he was talking about it you know you get a sense you know you're sitting across from somebody and i was like man He's like, Shannon, he's not that big.

Speaker 35 He's wide, but he's not that big.

Speaker 35 He's not overpowered. He ain't like you.

Speaker 37 Yeah, boxes size people up as soon as you see him.

Speaker 35 And he absolutely did. Yeah.

Speaker 37 I do the same thing.

Speaker 35 I'd be like, okay, I'll see you.

Speaker 37 Yeah,

Speaker 37 guess your weight and everything. Boxers are good at that.
Yeah.

Speaker 35 And so when he went out there and he's like, hey,

Speaker 35 people asking me, can I take a punch? Can he take a punch?

Speaker 35 Has he ever been in someone, been in the ring with someone as skilled as I am that can put punches together? Hey, I'm here, and now I'm gone.

Speaker 37 Yeah.

Speaker 35 And he was in there with Floyd, but Floyd was older

Speaker 35 than Bud was. They might have been the same age.
No, I don't think, I think Floyd was a little younger than what Bud is now. But Bud made it look just like Floyd.
He made it look easy.

Speaker 35 I'm not saying it was easy, but the way he, Canelo, Canelo 168, nobody's ever unified that division. He got that unified.
He got it on lock.

Speaker 35 And what Bud was able to do, as you said, going on three-weight classes, I think he proved he's the best in his generation, and it ain't close.

Speaker 37 Yeah, well, for me, the last couple of years, Bud has always been my pound number one. Yes.
For the last couple of years. You know, it's always been like they say, Usik and Loma and Canelo, whatever.

Speaker 37 I've always said that it was

Speaker 37 Bud

Speaker 37 since a couple years ago. Like when he beat Earl Spence, and Earl Spence is a dear brother, and I love Earl Spence.
I went to the Olympics with him.

Speaker 37 When I seen what he did to Earl, I was like,

Speaker 35 whoa.

Speaker 35 I saw it too.

Speaker 37 I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 35 Yeah.

Speaker 35 That wasn't wasn't even close.

Speaker 37 Nah. And see, but that's the thing.
That's when I was like, oh, shoot. So now when I watch Bud for him, I watch a lot of different stuff.
And he's really a mental technician. He learns.

Speaker 37 I don't even want to tell a secret because I know it. Yeah.
I think it's the same thing with me, though. It's the same thing.
I go in there and I see this and see that.

Speaker 37 And you let folks get comfortable. And then you just have your way with them.

Speaker 35 I don't know if Canelo was just feeling this type of way because he had lost, but he said, Bud, the way Bud did him, was worse than what Floyd did, and he believed Bud is a better fighter than Floyd.

Speaker 37 I like when Terrence got asked this, he said Floyd was the best in his generation. I'm the best

Speaker 37 in this generation. I love that he said that because they both is great fighters.
You can't take nothing away from neither one of them.

Speaker 35 Very different. And

Speaker 37 Canelo got his ass who by both of them.

Speaker 35 He did.

Speaker 37 Now, if you're asking me who

Speaker 37 did it worse, I think that Terrence put more power on him than what

Speaker 37 Floyd did. But Floyd boxed him,

Speaker 37 he boxed the hell out of him. He boxed the hell out of him.

Speaker 37 He couldn't catch him. He couldn't land.
And

Speaker 37 it was a blowout. But it was more of a fight with Terrence Crawford.
He tried to stand there, try to punch Crawford. He hit him with some good shots.
But Crawford was just.

Speaker 35 That's what I was impressed with. And I think when he hit Bud, and Bud's like,

Speaker 35 I'd have been hit harder.

Speaker 37 Yeah.

Speaker 35 It was like a light went off in Bud's head. Bud's like, bro, I ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 37 Yeah, he stayed right there in his face.

Speaker 35 I'm not going anywhere. And then that was later in the round when he was right there in the pocket.
And he was like, he was trading with him.

Speaker 35 I was like, bud, what do you, we got this. Just, hey, you ain't got to do that.

Speaker 37 Everybody said that to me and been fights. Oh, we got this.
No, we don't. You don't know what them judges thinking.
We got to go to it. We got to go 10, 12.
No, no, no.

Speaker 37 I'm about to whoop as much ass as I can. So when that bell ranging and everything is over, listen, I know I left it all in there and I pieced you up good.

Speaker 35 That's what you want. That wasn't a 115-112 fight.

Speaker 37 No, I thought Bud want eight rounds to four.

Speaker 34 Yes, I said to say,

Speaker 35 I'm being generous. I'm saying nine, three.
Okay, you want to say eight, four?

Speaker 35 Ain't no way that's a three. That's a three-point fight.

Speaker 37 No, it wasn't. But when you got two competitors, it was like, it wasn't just like,

Speaker 37 I think toward the end, you just seen Bud just taking off right like he he he stole the fighting and then you can see canelo just get um get defeated when you try to touch bud glove before the corner i said oh shoot yeah now oh oh now he's showing respect to the smaller man

Speaker 37 and i was but i was really proud of bud i ended up flying down to uh omaha nebraska for his uh

Speaker 37 for his parade and man the amount of people that came out for him and it was it was it was great to see it because they were he's been calling out the best and the biggest names for I don't know how long.

Speaker 37 And they kept overlooking him, kept overlooking him.

Speaker 35 They weren't overlooking him. They ain't wanting them problems.

Speaker 37 Well, the media was painted out to be like he wasn't a challenge. He was too small.
He wasn't this. He wasn't that.
And he just kept, he kept doing what he's supposed to do. He made the right price.

Speaker 37 He stayed patient. And I don't know.
I love that. It's plenty of times where he could have gave up and said, you know what?

Speaker 35 Later for this.

Speaker 37 I'm two-time undisputed champion. Diesels ain't even undisputed, man.
He could have just went on about his career in.

Speaker 35 Now he's a three-division.

Speaker 37 Three-way division.

Speaker 35 That's 40, 47, and 68

Speaker 35 when Canelo is the only guy that had ever unified to 68. Mm-hmm.

Speaker 37 That's crazy.

Speaker 37 I told him it was crazy. But one thing you got to know, like in mental, up in mental warfare, you got to feed them stuff and see what they grab.
I think I saw an interview. He was up in...

Speaker 37 He was in Saudi, right? He was in Riyadh. And they interviewed him.
They were like, how much you wear right now? He's like, $155. I know damn well Bud went $150.

Speaker 37 So I texted him when I see the interview. I copied the paste.
I said, This was a good lie right here. But you, but you feed on that.
Yeah. But I knew Bub was bigger than that.
Yes.

Speaker 37 You know what I'm saying? I knew that he had to cut a few pounds himself. Yeah.
Right. So it was like

Speaker 37 he did the same thing I did when I went to heaven. I had built all the muscle up and got everything proportioned right and worked with him and carried it.
And then I and then I cut down.

Speaker 37 So he did the same thing.

Speaker 35 It's a lot easier going from 185, 188 to 168 as opposed to 185, 188 to 147.

Speaker 37 100%.

Speaker 37 100%.

Speaker 37 And I don't think he ever went back down.

Speaker 35 No, he not. No.

Speaker 37 Who can he fight that day? I mean, I seen him.

Speaker 35 Maybe Charlo at 60.

Speaker 37 I seen Jamel Charlo say he wanted 55.

Speaker 35 He but he didn't want to fight it before. Nah, he didn't take it.

Speaker 35 Let me come eat lunch at your table. Nah, bud say nope.

Speaker 37 I mean, I'm a boxing fan. I like to see the fight.
I think that Terrence will win, but I like to see see the fight.

Speaker 35 Bud said, no. No, but I told, I don't know if you saw the interview what I did with Bud, and we was in the ring and we was wrestling.
And they said, man, I say, bud's stronger than you think.

Speaker 35 I said, yeah, he's small. Yeah, he's short.
He's really strong. He's strong.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 37 He deadlifted like 400 pounds just come on. Come on, straight at the gym.
Yeah. That's like, that's crazy strength.
Yeah.

Speaker 35 I said, no, no, no, no. He's strong.

Speaker 35 I said, Canelo's not going to be able to push him around now. Mm-hmm.
He's not. I see.
You look, I said, I understand. He's fought the majority of his career at 40, 47.

Speaker 35 And I get it and he's going up the three weight classes that there's a reason why three weight classes was crazy i'm not gonna lie that was that was wild yes i mean the goal the goal i mean he and he had just one fight at 54

Speaker 35 and he didn't look that good at 54.

Speaker 37 he won but he didn't look that good at 54 and to jump 60 and go straight to 68 yeah against that guy i think madramov was um a very awkward fighter yes a very awkward fighter and that's he made the fight awkward but taryn still came out on top i think he won easily but it was just when you say he didn't look good, like he didn't, he wasn't

Speaker 37 like, yeah, yeah, like he didn't.

Speaker 35 Because remember, we had just saw him against Earl Spence. Yeah.
So

Speaker 35 we saw one of his most impressive performance, and then we followed it up with that. And then, and that's where everybody's like, oh, no, you know, he's never been hit by 168.

Speaker 35 This guy's fought Triple G and he's fought.

Speaker 37 I don't believe in that.

Speaker 35 And Caleb Pleat fought Caleb Plant. Yeah.

Speaker 35 But Bud is a different animal.

Speaker 37 No, he is. But

Speaker 35 Sportswoman of the Year.

Speaker 35 Were you upset? People say you were upset. The angel won.

Speaker 37 No.

Speaker 37 I hate people

Speaker 37 when they spin narratives. That really gets on my nerves.
I think that would mean they want to spin everything and make it into something negative.

Speaker 37 It was my first time being nominated for the Sportswoman of the Year award with B.E.T. Yeah.
And I just thought that I won it. Yeah.
That was it.

Speaker 37 When I looked at who I was, who I was up against, I'm like, oh, man.

Speaker 37 The only one that had Olympic gold medals who was up there was Simone Ball. So I'm like, oh, man, either she's going to get it or I'm gonna get it.

Speaker 37 So it wasn't a thing, a knock to none of those other girls. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.

Speaker 37 Had any of them won from Flajay to

Speaker 37 Timong, I think it was Coco Golf. There was a couple other girls that was nominated.
I just was like, the Olympics is way harder than anything. So when I seen that she won, I was...

Speaker 37 I think when I made my tweet, it was more of like, I thought accolades would matter in this. But once again, that was my first time going to the BT Awards and being there and being invited.

Speaker 37 So I thought, like, okay, they seeing my hard work, they see what's going on. I'm finna get this award.
But it's not knock to Andrew Reese. Like, I love Angel Reese.
I like what she's doing.

Speaker 37 I've posted her on my page before.

Speaker 37 When you go to Victoria Secrets, she is killing it.

Speaker 35 She walked in Victoria's secrets. I've seen her.

Speaker 35 I mean, you got what you said. You said, you know, you got her like that.
You got somebody.

Speaker 37 I got a body.

Speaker 37 I got a body, you know what I'm saying? But

Speaker 37 the way that she walked on them hills, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 37 I'm gonna get some practice,

Speaker 37 but sometimes when your butt too big and it gets to doing what it's doing, you may

Speaker 35 I don't know if you could like you could throw it like that because you might go off

Speaker 35 way bigger than that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 37 So I would have to try to get my I think she said uh

Speaker 37 walk so stink make a whole mad or something

Speaker 35 but because the actual Victoria Secret models, they like like

Speaker 44 right here.

Speaker 32 They skinny.

Speaker 37 Yeah, yeah, very very petite. But I mean, um, I'm sure I could do something like that, but the first thing I want to do first is I want to do a sports illustrated swimwear.

Speaker 72 You want to do the swimsuit? I want to do that.

Speaker 37 I want, I want to do that first and then work my way into everything.

Speaker 35 So, we're going to get that out there. We put it out there.

Speaker 32 Yeah.

Speaker 71 2026. Yeah.

Speaker 34 Sports Illustrated.

Speaker 35 Clarissa Shield says

Speaker 35 she wants to do it.

Speaker 37 Make me the cover, baby.

Speaker 35 God, dang.

Speaker 35 You bitching like on social media. You hate when women say things because, you know,

Speaker 35 they tag you in it, so obviously you're going to see it. Yeah.

Speaker 35 Whatever.

Speaker 35 But Clarissa, at this point in time now, you've been at the game long enough to like, no, they controlling, they rage baiting you.

Speaker 37 I think,

Speaker 37 I think a lot of folks on social media is jealous and envious and just mad. But once again, I be practicing my trash talk with them.

Speaker 37 So when I'll be responding to them, sometimes I'll be like, let me see what this makes somebody say. Let me see what.
So I might go back and forth with them, but trust me, that's after practice.

Speaker 37 After I've ate, when I'm just in my bed laying down, and a lot of times

Speaker 37 I'd be right there with Pap and we just be laughing. I'd be like, oh, look at this.
And he's like, what'd you say back? And I'm like, look. And then we just be crying, laughing.

Speaker 37 Like, it's ridiculous how much we laugh about.

Speaker 37 But

Speaker 37 that's about it, but I'm getting better at, you know, ignoring it. Ignoring it because it's like, I got better things to do.
But sometimes we're like, oh,

Speaker 37 no, she didn't.

Speaker 35 Come with that. Is it worse with women on social media than it is with men?

Speaker 37 The men love me on social media. Rather, that's because of boxing, because of how I look, my shape, my confidence.
Men love that.

Speaker 37 I don't know what done got into these women, but they are the problem.

Speaker 37 They're the, listen, they are a complete problem. I'd be like, yo, I thought we were in this whole me too and women stick together.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, up.

Speaker 37 Yeah, and it was like, I don't know. Once you get, once you get to a certain level of success,

Speaker 37 all that changes. Like, I understand why Beyonce don't be, she don't be close.

Speaker 32 She's not with nobody.

Speaker 37 Beyonce, listen, you don't get a peep about everything. Listen, when I get to that level, they gonna wish I was talking to their ass.

Speaker 34 Yeah, yeah, Beyonce, you either see her with Ho

Speaker 34 or you don't see baby.

Speaker 35 You see on the you see on stage, but she don't, you know, I mean, she got all these followers. I don't think Beyonce, the only time she might be.

Speaker 37 I think she followed one person.

Speaker 35 Ho,

Speaker 37 man, like, but she, it's just like

Speaker 35 she's so

Speaker 37 great. Like, she can dance, she can sing, she can rap, act, act.
She's up there. Yes.
She just be like, mm-mm.

Speaker 37 So I'll be there one day.

Speaker 72 I'm working on it.

Speaker 32 I wonder how she can't be up.

Speaker 35 I don't even think, you know what, she might have somebody. She don't even got social media on her phone.
And her team don't even bring it to her.

Speaker 37 Sometimes

Speaker 37 I delete it off my phone.

Speaker 37 I get rid of it, especially when I'm in camp. Yeah.
You know, because they just make up stuff and they make you go viral for stuff that don't got nothing to do with nothing.

Speaker 37 Like I went viral one time for eating a tomato and asking them, is it a tomato or fruit or a fruit or a vegetable? And I'm sitting there biting and enjoying my food. And all of a sudden I get online.

Speaker 37 It's on all these different blog sites of me chewing and eating a goddamn tomato. And it just was like, I don't wanna go viral for this.

Speaker 35 I think they call it a fruit, though.

Speaker 37 A tomato? I believe it is a fruit, but

Speaker 37 we consider it a vegetable.

Speaker 37 So because it's not that good. We do.
You're not just gonna bite to it. Dah, dah.
Like an apple.

Speaker 37 But, um, no, I think that I think that just with social media, like I said, it takes some time to get used to it, but you do need to detox from it. And I detox a lot more now than what I used to.

Speaker 35 But the negative comments they say about your hair and they say this about your body.

Speaker 37 Are they just haters? You know, they just haters.

Speaker 39 I mean,

Speaker 35 they are. They expect you to go to the ring.
They expect you to go to a fight with a face full of makeup, with lashes, hair done like it is now.

Speaker 37 Stupid.

Speaker 35 Is that really how they expect you to come to the ring?

Speaker 37 camera right here stupid

Speaker 37 that's dumb i'm gonna go to the ring my queen latifas my braids with the blue hair for flint water crisis have my hair wrapped on up be and no no no edge control no edges going to edge control dripping your eye yeah

Speaker 35 you ain't take a knee like babante

Speaker 37 no he said it was what it was

Speaker 35 i'm just saying he said it

Speaker 37 I'm just saying, I don't want that.

Speaker 35 Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 37 Because I'm not going to get away with that.

Speaker 37 They're going to take a point from me. That's Tank, you know, he used to roll with Floyd, so he can get away with that.
Yeah, I'm not getting away with that.

Speaker 37 So, therefore, when I get in the ring, I walk, I arrive at the fight with my dress and my heels and my little cute stuff.

Speaker 37 But as soon as we get in the locker room, I grab my makeup wipe and I wipe it all off.

Speaker 35 Right?

Speaker 37 Eyebrows, lashes, edges, I wipe it all off, take the wig off, and everything. It's time to fight.
Yes,

Speaker 39 I'm not ever gonna let

Speaker 37 an enhancement stop me from performing my job.

Speaker 32 Right.

Speaker 37 My job is to whoop ass.

Speaker 35 But see, they forget that. See, they see you like this and they don't think you can fight, though.

Speaker 37 I don't know why you think that because I take my shirt off, baby. I scare everybody in here.

Speaker 35 Hold on.

Speaker 37 I take my shirt off.

Speaker 37 Let me show you something. I take my shirt off in here and show you what my

Speaker 35 money. Hey.

Speaker 35 Watch it now.

Speaker 35 They don't want no problem. Nah.

Speaker 35 You know how you look at somebody, you see like, oh, I think I I can take them. Yeah.

Speaker 37 But you know, I don't think this, listen, if they think that, go do your goddamn homework. You better look up Currents and Shields.

Speaker 37 And the first girl that pops up is me, is me dropping a girl, putting a girl on her back. You need to look, look me up before you think that, please.

Speaker 37 I would hate to get

Speaker 39 at the club with a dress.

Speaker 35 No, you can't do that. Your hands are deadly weapon.
You can't fight.

Speaker 4 in the street.

Speaker 37 Who told you that?

Speaker 35 Because you can't. You're going to go to jail.

Speaker 37 Listen, I have the right to defend myself. So nobody comes messing with me.
I'll mess with nobody. But can't nobody just walk up and just slap me and then nothing.

Speaker 35 No, but you have the deadly weapons.

Speaker 34 You are a professional fighter.

Speaker 37 Yes, and I can defend myself, Shannon.

Speaker 35 Ain't nobody going to just walk up on you here.

Speaker 37 You never know.

Speaker 35 We're in a weird world today.

Speaker 37 They're weird out here. And then you said when they see me all dressed up that I can't fight.
So they see me like, oh, she can't fight. She blocked me online.
I'm going to walk up and

Speaker 37 hit her. No, you know what?

Speaker 35 You ain't going to be able to rumble in no heels. Who?

Speaker 37 I can fight in whatever shoes I got,

Speaker 31 heels, boots.

Speaker 4 Oh, Lord. Is you crazy?

Speaker 37 Listen, don't ever try me. I'm looking at the camera again.

Speaker 32 No, don't ever.

Speaker 35 No, hey, don't, don't ever.

Speaker 37 I don't even want to.

Speaker 35 We're not going to engage in that. I know we don't want people.
We don't want people to try to walk up on me. Oh, they're not.

Speaker 22 Good.

Speaker 37 Listen, I got a face that looks like come and be friends with me. Come be nice.
Come be friendly. Now, if you decide to be something else, that's on you.
But I am a,

Speaker 37 I don't need, I am a disguised killer.

Speaker 35 You said you wanted to have a child by the end of next year. Is that still true?

Speaker 37 Yes.

Speaker 35 Damn. Well, you better help me get this fight out the way.

Speaker 37 I'm going to have a few fights before this, before that.

Speaker 35 You do know how, like, I mean, fights, I mean, like, every four,

Speaker 35 five months, right?

Speaker 37 Well, it could be three, it could be four, it depends on what you need.

Speaker 35 So you trying to have, you trying to have at least two fights before you welcome a child?

Speaker 37 Before I start the process of a child.

Speaker 35 Oh, I'm pretty sure you practicing now. You just, you know.

Speaker 32 Practicing? Yeah.

Speaker 35 Nah,

Speaker 37 I ain't trying to have no hiccups.

Speaker 37 No,

Speaker 37 I'm trying to make sure we do this stuff in order. Yeah.
So yeah, I want to get this fight, these fights out the way.

Speaker 37 And like I said, it's a really a big thing to me to make sure all the fight is out of me. Right.

Speaker 37 Because once I get pregnant and have a baby and all this stuff,

Speaker 37 when I come back, I'm going to fight some more, right?

Speaker 35 Yeah.

Speaker 37 But it's like it's some girls who need to get got like yesterday. Right.

Speaker 35 So you want to make sure you want to make sure you at your apex to get them. Go ahead and get them out the way.

Speaker 37 Yeah, yeah, get them out the way. And then when I come back,

Speaker 37 if I need a year or I need a two, I can get myself back in shape, fight some more. And, you know.

Speaker 35 So you look at Rihanna, Beyonce, Serena, Serena. What's her first name?

Speaker 35 Rihanna. Oh, Rihanna.
Yeah, I love that.

Speaker 35 Beyonce

Speaker 35 had

Speaker 35 Blue Ivid, and she had the twins, Serena, Olympia,

Speaker 35 and

Speaker 35 win a championship. I mean, she was pregnant at the time.
I think she went to Australia Open and she was pregnant at the time. Oh, Jesus.
And come back. Is that some of your inspiration?

Speaker 35 You're like, okay. I see women that have had

Speaker 35 kids and come back and continue their careers.

Speaker 37 Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
Like, I feel like

Speaker 37 when I'm carrying, I'm going to be in the gym working out still because I don't want to lose everything that I got.

Speaker 37 Like, yo, complete body change, but I don't want to gain too much weight. Right.

Speaker 35 Um,

Speaker 37 I don't want to not use certain muscles for a long time. I've been building this since I was 11 years old, so they can't rest a whole year.
Right.

Speaker 37 Like, I need to make sure that I still keep my hands sharp,

Speaker 37 staying to stay in shape. So, I believe that once you do that, you can come back.

Speaker 35 And I heard that it's easier to come back if you work out while you're pregnant oh yeah for sure so um you walk into the ring with cash doll

Speaker 37 uh she's uh michigan she's from detroit you from flint what's your relationship with cash i love cash doll like she's a boss she she's a boss bitch you know she she like nice stuff and classy stuff like i like cash doll and you know she's about Cash Dollar, she'll whoop your ass too.

Speaker 37 Like Cash Doll is about,

Speaker 37 I like her. Listen, when I reached out to her and was like, yo, you know

Speaker 39 Walk me out. You know can you walk me out to my fight?

Speaker 37 And she was like girl we gonna we gonna tear him up

Speaker 37 It wasn't even like it wasn't even hard to make happen or nothing. You know what I'm saying? Like she just like she came with it.

Speaker 37 And when we both walked out there and she started rapping, I'm talking about they went crazy. It was about 11,000, 12,000 fans.
I just remember it being like,

Speaker 37 it was my biggest fight at the time. I'm like, oh my God.

Speaker 37 And it was just, it was just great that

Speaker 37 she came.

Speaker 37 We did our big one together, and I can't think cashed out enough.

Speaker 35 Right. Yeah.

Speaker 35 She's now in a very public relationship, as you are with Zadarius, you with your guy, Pap.

Speaker 35 When you decided to get into this relationship with Pap,

Speaker 35 was it your intention for it to become public, or were you trying to keep it a secret as long as you possibly could?

Speaker 35 Because you know, if you date publicly, Clarissa, you know, you got to break up publicly.

Speaker 37 You know how to do it. Yeah, ain't that sad? Yeah, it is.

Speaker 37 So, honestly, with my thought process, I had just been engaged prior to being with Pap. Okay.
So, at the time, you know, me and him had broke up and got back together a couple of times.

Speaker 37 The guy was engaged with. So, now we finally called a quit.
When I got with Pap,

Speaker 37 you know, another celebrity, it was already big enough being just with a guy who wasn't a celebrity. Right.
And everybody being in my business. Yeah.
Now, I'm with another celebrity.

Speaker 37 And like you said, I wanted, I didn't know how it would work out because, one, I was against dating celebrities, rappers, NFL players, NBA. I heard that they dogs and I whoop a dog's ass.

Speaker 35 Oh, Lord, have a birthday. The day you go to both.

Speaker 35 Play this stuff.

Speaker 35 Fight your boyfriend.

Speaker 37 Listen, I don't. Everybody ain't meant to be fault.
I don't play this stuff.

Speaker 35 Just move on. You ain't got to fight.

Speaker 37 No, no, no. Listen.
Why I'm going to let a grown man play with me for?

Speaker 35 Oh, career. Oh, Lord.

Speaker 37 No, I'm saying like when the women get emotional that's when they start doing all this crazy stuff so you hurt my feelings yes and you and you hurt my pride oh you got you gonna have a problem you told me that you've broken up with every guy that you've been in a relationship with yes so I just leave them okay I just but I'm saying but they did

Speaker 37 I don't want to get played publicly though like come on now yeah come on like that's why I'm like celebrity men I was it was off of them as Pap is special

Speaker 37 Pap is special like that's a different type of man right there you slitting that man DM did you man come on

Speaker 37 I hate, I hate Gillian Wallow for that. Gillian Wallow, full of crap.
I invited Pap to a fight.

Speaker 31 I saw him at the Jakor fight.

Speaker 37 Yeah. When he fought against,

Speaker 37 I forget the guy's name. It was July 6th.
But I saw him there. We took a picture.
I didn't really know much about him. You know what I'm saying? I knew of his name.
I didn't like.

Speaker 37 That's like before my time a little bit. You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't really know that he was a rap legend.
I knew he could rap, but I didn't know he was like rap legend.

Speaker 39 that.

Speaker 37 I didn't know.

Speaker 35 No, so. How you find him or how you find him on IG? You ain't know nothing.

Speaker 37 No, when we was at the fight, he walked to me and said, Hey, I'm Pat Boos, and he shook my hand.

Speaker 32 Yeah.

Speaker 37 And then we, and then we got to.

Speaker 32 He said,

Speaker 37 he said, he said he was a fan of me already. And I said, okay, thank you.
I appreciate that.

Speaker 32 You too.

Speaker 39 I appreciate that. No, I didn't say that.

Speaker 32 I didn't say that.

Speaker 37 But no, when I invited him to my fight.

Speaker 35 What you invited him to your fight for?

Speaker 37 To come see me fight. You need celebrities in the building.
I would invite you.

Speaker 35 You ain't invite me.

Speaker 37 Well, you don't have no DM to start.

Speaker 35 I got a DM. I got a DM from, I think, 2018, 2019.

Speaker 37 And you didn't even respond.

Speaker 35 I just saw it like the other day.

Speaker 37 I know, but I'm saying, like, had you responded, I would have said, hey, man, I'm fighting X, Y, Z. If you want to come to my fight, you should come.
You should bring at that time,

Speaker 37 you would skip. I would have said, bring you and.
Skip, come.

Speaker 72 You and Skip went to the fight.

Speaker 35 You could have came on undisputed and helped and failed the fight.

Speaker 37 But you won't open your DM.

Speaker 37 See that? but you know what? God's time is the best time. Yeah, no, so look, when I, first of all, I didn't slide in Pap DM, he's full of crap.

Speaker 4 He trying to, he made Paps.

Speaker 37 He said that, well,

Speaker 35 boom.

Speaker 37 I saw him at the fight. We shook hands, but I watched a court fight, whatever, whatever.
I did my media after the fight. He waited on the side with him and his cousins.

Speaker 37 And then, after he asked me for a picture, we got a picture. Okay.
We got one up in his phone, got one up in my phone.

Speaker 35 Okay.

Speaker 37 I sent him the picture that was in my phone because I said.

Speaker 35 How you sent him the picture?

Speaker 37 the DM.

Speaker 35 Oh, you sent the picture to the DM. I thought you sent it to his phone.
Uh-uh. I have his number.

Speaker 37 Oh.

Speaker 37 I sent the DM. Okay.
And when I sent that, I said, hey, and by the way, I'm fighting in two weeks.

Speaker 35 Yeah.

Speaker 37 So if you want to come to my fight, it's in Detroit, blah, blah, blah. You just come out.
And I said,

Speaker 37 just let me know if you want to come. I gave him my publicist's number and said, hey, reach out to my publicist and she'll make sure that you got your.

Speaker 35 Got everything taken care of.

Speaker 37 Yeah, yeah. You know, that you good.
Okay. From there,

Speaker 37 we end up exchanging numbers between each other, right? Just on, like, I put him in a group that says, hey, Crystal, this is Pat, blah, blah, blah, blah, and he comes into the fight.

Speaker 37 And she said, okay, I got it. Cause I ain't like dealing with no tickets or nothing like that for the fight.

Speaker 35 No, should you?

Speaker 37 Right. So, boom.
From there, as I'm getting ready for the gym and I'm working out, because it's two weeks before my fight,

Speaker 37 I get a text in the morning. I say, hey, good morning, champ.
And I'm like,

Speaker 37 huh? I'm like, hey, what's up? And he like, what we eating this morning? I'm like, hell, I'm egg whites and spinach. What you eating? He eating a blueberry muffin.

Speaker 37 I said, yeah, we definitely not eating the same. Right.
Like, don't even text me and tell me you're eating a blueberry muffin. I ain't had no bread in months.

Speaker 37 And so he like, oh, you working out today, woo, woo. So we would text, you know, just a little bit.
Then I probably went three, four days without, without texting him.

Speaker 37 And then he texted me again, hey.

Speaker 37 champ blah blah and we and we me and Pap was really just friends at the beginning like true friends I didn't even didn't even invite him to the after party after the fight because I wasn't you know we was close feeling like that though I wouldn't say that I said I wasn't feeling it was more like I it was like a just a friend oh baby no it was like a it was like a crush but I didn't know if I liked him because it was like I'm so focused on my fight so folks know what I got to do okay but then after the fight yeah You know, more texts and all this stuff.

Speaker 37 We probably texted about a month and a half before we ever even talked on the phone. He came to the fight in the back, wished me good luck.
Everybody was surprised about the fight, blah, blah, blah.

Speaker 37 Like he, it was, that's the best relationships when somebody is just your friend. Just your friend.
Just your friend. And he is a.

Speaker 35 So when did you come to the realization and say, hey, the man like me?

Speaker 37 He asked me on a date. He asked me when I was coming to New York.

Speaker 35 All them taxes, you didn't get nothing from all the man done text you for a month and a half.

Speaker 37 I mean, he did. He called me cute one time or me a couple times.
And, you know, he would compliment me. He liked my pictures on Instagram.
But I just was like.

Speaker 35 Oh, he liked you your pictures pictures on Instagram and you ain't thinking nothing I mean

Speaker 37 it's not a lot of other guys that like your picture on Instagram you ain't texting them what you eating chant what you eat it's not it's not a lot of men who I feel like don't like me if I'm being honest okay yeah but you but you ain't texting them

Speaker 37 yeah I don't talk to people like that

Speaker 37 but you talking to him like that we was I'm telling you just we were just friends but I knew that it was something

Speaker 35 I knew I knew it was something you know maybe I thought he was cute or maybe just trying to get you to say it it's never just there's always a reason. You don't get in your car just to sit.

Speaker 37 You got to stop.

Speaker 35 When I gave you, you got to give. You go to whole food.
You go to shopping.

Speaker 37 I invited him to the fighting after that. We were texting and texting and texting.
And it was really great conversation.

Speaker 37 I shared some of my raps. He shared his raps, which I didn't even know.

Speaker 37 I didn't know any of them. And when I heard him rap, I said, this is my new favorite rapper because my favorite rapper before him was McMill.

Speaker 32 Okay.

Speaker 37 So when I heard Pat rap, I said, oh, shit.

Speaker 37 This dude is, this dude cold.

Speaker 32 Okay.

Speaker 37 So I started following his music.

Speaker 37 And we just was going back and forth. But like,

Speaker 37 I don't know if it's like,

Speaker 37 maybe I'm not really, maybe I wasn't good at flirting

Speaker 37 at that time because I wasn't trying to flirt. I knew at the time I was leaving my last relationship.
I knew I was done with that.

Speaker 35 And I told my best friend I was like, so you leave some time, you like, I don't want to jump right back into something coming up.

Speaker 37 Yeah, but I ended up jumping right back into something. Oh, you did, huh? Yeah, so it don't matter.

Speaker 35 Damn, that was quick.

Speaker 37 Yeah, about a month.

Speaker 35 For somebody I didn't know, somebody I know I didn't like.

Speaker 37 I didn't say I didn't like him. I didn't say that.
I said that when I invited him to my fight, I didn't know like it would be what it is now.

Speaker 35 No. Well, I mean, so

Speaker 35 what did you hope to come of this with all the texting you two were doing?

Speaker 37 I texted you was doing.

Speaker 35 Pen Pal? It wasn't like he was in jail. He needed somebody to do it.

Speaker 37 No, I mean, well, one, for me, a lot of people always like me. It's me not liking them.

Speaker 37 So it was more of a thing. Like, you ever seen a girl who just fine as ever? She bad?

Speaker 37 And then as soon as she talk, you'd be like, oh, no,

Speaker 37 that's not the one for me. Okay.
So for, so for me, I'm always, guys, always trying to talk to me, trying to talk, you know, trying to holler at me. So it's more of once we started being friends.

Speaker 34 But you so picky.

Speaker 35 You don't want nobody famous. You don't like no athletes.
You don't like nobody in the public. So damn.

Speaker 37 Yeah.

Speaker 32 Yeah.

Speaker 37 But it's nothing nothing wrong with being picky, though.

Speaker 35 No, it's nothing wrong with being picky.

Speaker 37 But I know that for me, that if I do text you and I do entertain you, it's something. Right.
If I do feel something, because a lot of times I don't really be feeling nothing. Right.

Speaker 37 You know, so I felt something with Pap.

Speaker 37 And

Speaker 37 I mean, it was, it was quick. Like, once we went out on a date, um.

Speaker 35 Were you a Cheesecake Factory?

Speaker 37 No,

Speaker 37 we went to, I think, where it's called Cornbread up in New York.

Speaker 35 What's the name of it? Cornbread. I ain't never heard of it.
I ain't know. Cornbread.
Nice.

Speaker 35 yeah well soul food soul food I love soul food you soul what you get smothered pork chop no I don't eat no pork you don't eat no pork no you eat pork still we in 2025 everything except squeal no

Speaker 37 no I don't mess with that's why you bump like that that damn pig no

Speaker 37 I had I had me some fried chicken yams mac and cheese and greens was it good it was great

Speaker 46 Fried chicken, mac and cheese and yams.

Speaker 32 Called greens.

Speaker 37 It was great.

Speaker 35 They didn't have no ham hogs in the collard green? No turkey necks? No. No pigtails?

Speaker 37 I don't stuff no pork in it. You got to stop.
Man. You got to stop.
Do not eat pork.

Speaker 35 Man, you ain't never had a small pot of collard greens with

Speaker 35 a bunch of pigtails in it. Pigtails.
Your family got that laughing at you.

Speaker 37 Pigtails, pig feet. I done had it at all.

Speaker 35 I'm not eating it while I'm growing. You eat it no more?

Speaker 37 Chitlins, I'm not eating it no more. It's over with.
It's been over with for years.

Speaker 35 Well, I'm going to eat your share of pigtails.

Speaker 35 So I don't mess with no chitlin.

Speaker 37 Yeah, so just to get the story right, me and Pap was friends. We love each other.
And we grew into something more. You need to stop.

Speaker 37 No, he was. And now

Speaker 37 he's my best friend now, and he's my man. And we have a great time together.

Speaker 35 You have a great time together.

Speaker 37 He just left this morning.

Speaker 35 Damn, I thought he was going to come.

Speaker 37 He be having to move around. Pap got stuff to do.
He's a celebrity, too. That's what I'm saying.
But for me.

Speaker 35 That works for you, though. Yeah.
Because you have to up under you all the time?

Speaker 35 Um, nah,

Speaker 37 not gonna be out of time now, but I know it's 24 hours in a day, yeah, so I can get my work out the way and do what I got to do, and then we can be together.

Speaker 35 So, yeah, well, I guess that's what it's gonna have to be because you have kids, y'all gonna be together.

Speaker 71 So, so I'm just saying, like

Speaker 35 you go work out,

Speaker 35 he go work out.

Speaker 35 Y'all do you different type of workout. You come home, he there, you know, he have your smoothie, have you your juice ready to go, your food ready.

Speaker 32 I gotta, I got, I gotta cook for that.

Speaker 72 You got a chef? Yeah. Damn.

Speaker 35 Big baller?

Speaker 37 Somebody got to do it.

Speaker 35 Yeah, somebody got to do it. I might have to start fighting.

Speaker 35 I saw you on stage with someone walking rapping host. What was that like?

Speaker 37 Okay, so they reached out to me and said that, you know, I sang her song on a 20 versus one

Speaker 37 when I was up there with a bunch of guys and

Speaker 37 I had to pick who I wanted to be with, whatever the case may be. And

Speaker 37 a guy asked me, could I sing? And I said, yes. And he told me to sing.
And I sang it. So from there, it went viral of me singing.
And now at, now at her concert, she had people sing that same song.

Speaker 37 So she was like, she wanted the originator to come and sing. So I was in Atlanta.
I came.

Speaker 37 And they had tickets for me. And when it was her segment, she brought the mic up to me with Funny Marco right there.
He said he was going to share a mic. I said, you was not finna mess up my singing.

Speaker 37 Funny Marco, I'm awesome. Oh, I'm going to sing some and you sing some.
I said, what? That ain't what was told to me. No.
I grabbed that mic and sang my little song.

Speaker 37 He was right there rocking back and forth, acting like he was going to sing. But it was a great, it was great to have that.
And I'm really shy to sing in front of people.

Speaker 35 That's what I was about to ask you.

Speaker 35 I mean, singing in your home or in your shower or in your kitchen is different than singing in front of 10, 15, 20,000 people.

Speaker 37 It was about 30,000 folks there. What?

Speaker 35 Mm-hmm.

Speaker 37 Because it was really the, I believe Chris Brown

Speaker 37 was performing.

Speaker 39 He was the head.

Speaker 37 She was just kind of under him. So, yeah,

Speaker 37 it was very nerve-wracking. But I had been practicing until I had got there.
I had my tea and my honey. So, I said, Yeah, I'm about to go out here and I'm about to kill this.
And I did my thing.

Speaker 32 It's fun.

Speaker 35 Getting ready for a fight. What type of music are you listening to? Are you listening to something to get you crooked?

Speaker 35 Roy Jones can't be stopped.

Speaker 37 Is this the day of the fight?

Speaker 35 Yes, day of the fight.

Speaker 35 You in the dressing room.

Speaker 37 It really depends on what my mood is because if I'm very hype, I want to listen to something to calm me down. So I go gospel, RB.
If I'm not hype enough, I go trap, rap.

Speaker 37 If I just want to feel that beast, you know, we're going to listen to some DMX.

Speaker 37 You know what I'm saying? We're going to buy us some DMX, some Biggie, some Tupac.

Speaker 37 Love Mick Meals.

Speaker 37 You know, and then when I'm really feeling like it's about that time and I want, and it's time to be a boss bitch, I'm going to put on my cash dial, put on my Megan Thee Stallion, put on my Cardi, put on my Nikki too.

Speaker 37 You know what I'm saying? I know they got a little beef, but they all got good music.

Speaker 37 I'll be having to feel what I need to feel. You know what I'm saying? So sometimes it really depends on how I feel.

Speaker 37 And when it's time for everybody to get out, sometimes I just want to hear my thoughts. You know what I'm saying? So I only listen to music to her like the last five, three minutes before we walk out.

Speaker 37 I cut the music off and just kind of

Speaker 37 gather myself.

Speaker 35 If you could have anybody walk you to the ring, who would you have?

Speaker 37 Beyonce.

Speaker 35 I know you're going to say.

Speaker 37 Hey, listen, I don't know. Beyonce walked me out to the fight, my life is complete.
I always say that Beyonce, like, that would be like the dream, the dream. And you know what?

Speaker 37 She can pick a song, but if she want to come out

Speaker 37 to Diva,

Speaker 37 who run the world, girls,

Speaker 37 she want to come out to this ain't Texas, whatever, whatever she wants to come out to.

Speaker 35 You want to come out to the country?

Speaker 37 It's Beyonce. You don't tell Beyonce no to nothing.
It don't even matter. She wants to come out to Bills.
I don't care. As long as Beyonce comes, I'm going to be like, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 34 Have you had any injuries? Have you sustained any injuries?

Speaker 35 Preparing for a fight? You know, shoulder, elbow yeah yeah

Speaker 35 so because it's like you you when you're training when you're prepping you know lost days of training set you back yeah so one day of mist training is like three four days

Speaker 37 um the injury that i've sustained i have still fought with them

Speaker 37 and after the fight i take care of the injuries you know i'm saying i do what i have to do to get through the fight right as most fighters do right

Speaker 37 And after that, I have to do it. And then I see how serious it is.

Speaker 37 Like, I don't really know how serious an injury is leading up to a fight because I kind of ignore it unless you're just like really crazy.

Speaker 37 But I did have one really crazy

Speaker 37 two fights ago, a frozen shoulder. So my arm couldn't, it was just froze here.
I couldn't lift it up. I couldn't do nothing with it.
It just was frozen here. And I had to go and

Speaker 37 get one of those shots to take the inflammation down. I had to ice it.
Yeah, it was a lot that had to get done for this fight to go through. It happened the week before the fight.

Speaker 37 And that was with Danielle Perkins.

Speaker 37 So with that, like I said, you're making over a million dollars. You know,

Speaker 37 you got a sold-out venue. I'm sorry, but in women's body.

Speaker 37 You can't call off fights like that. I'm sorry.

Speaker 37 You just never know when you're going to get another opportunity. So I don't blow opportunities.

Speaker 37 So with that, I fought through that, won unanimously.

Speaker 37 You know, made sure I did the work the next fight. And then I'm doing the work now.
You know what I'm saying? Letting this stuff heal.

Speaker 37 Just

Speaker 37 nobody's supposed to do anything too much. You run too much, you have leg problems.
You punch too much, you get torn stuff.

Speaker 35 Like

Speaker 37 it is what it is. You just have to make sure you do the proper

Speaker 37 recovery and everything to it and then go from there.

Speaker 35 Cutting weight. You know, you see people go through drastic measures.

Speaker 35 They're not eating, they're not drinking water, they're getting the sauna, they're just, you know, they can't, I mean, all they can do is just basically, somebody has to help them to get to the scale way and then

Speaker 35 try to get food, try to get fluid back in you. How difficult is that for you? Because, like you said, now, you know, you walk around and you say 185,

Speaker 35 180, 185, and then you drop it down to 170. That's not that much.
That's nothing. No, that's not.
But when you get down to 65, well, you got to get down to what, 54, you say? 54.

Speaker 37 That's a lot.

Speaker 37 Those are tough, especially when you've been fighting at a bigger weight class for a long time.

Speaker 37 So I've been at heavyweight almost a year now, a year and a half. So going down to the weight classes could be,

Speaker 37 it's not that easy now. Right.
You know, I got different muscles and everything. Yeah.

Speaker 37 Losing the weight is all about sacrifice and having you a team. Some people don't have teams.
I have a whole nutrition team. Mm-hmm.

Speaker 37 I actually try to eat healthier now, even just inside my home when I'm not in camp. Right.
I got food in my bag. I got me like some baked chicken, some rice, and some spinach in here.

Speaker 35 You had that in the bag. I ate that.
Yeah. What? Yeah, I ate that for you.

Speaker 35 how you guys

Speaker 35 you hungry i was hungry too you had some baked chicken some spinach in there i left the spinach with the baked chicken why would you leave the spinach like popeye

Speaker 37 i ain't want to be like popeye he couldn't see out of one eye oh jesus well no so i'm i'm trying to get better now with like the chef at my house and um

Speaker 37 eating better just outside of when I have to have camp because when camp starts, you know, that's like eight, ten weeks, sometimes six. Yeah.

Speaker 37 It's like you want to make sure that you you don't have to spend a whole camp just focusing on losing weight right you can actually focus on like the actual fight the stuff you got to do and you don't want to have to be running every day like i think that that's what kill a lot of these fighters like they run run run run and sauna some and sauna sauna sauna and before you know it you just like You done it, there really is no fight left in you even after you rehydrate.

Speaker 35 Yeah, you done fought to make weight. Now you can't go out there and fight an opponent.

Speaker 37 A lot of fighters do that.

Speaker 37 Some of these big stages, these fighters are losing that weight and when they're trying to rehydrate it's hard because they don't start itself for three days and you know when you're dehydrated dehydrated you you go in a ring at 50

Speaker 37 40 yeah so that's not good

Speaker 34 hey what's up y'all it's your favorite unc proud partner of Rose Sparks. Have you ever had one of those nights?

Speaker 34 Maybe you're watching a movie, you're laughing, she's snuggles in closer on the couch, and boom, it's on. Now in these moments, you can't get caught slipping.

Speaker 34 You got to be ready to perform like it's the big game. You hear me? And that's what Rose Sparks come in.
These bad boys dissolve right under your tongue. No water, no worries.
And here's the kicker.

Speaker 34 That dual action formula stays active for up to 36 hours. Now, you ain't hard for 36 hours.
Let's get that straight. But when the moment strikes again or again, you're ready to rise to the occasion.

Speaker 34 With Rose Sparks, you get harder, you get more control, and everybody's leaving the room with a smile. That's what I call a dub, baby.
And check this out.

Speaker 34 If you prescribe the new sexual health patient and get $15 off the first order of Rose Sparks on a reoccurring plan, just go to ro.co slash Shay Shay to find out if prescription Rose Sparks are right for you.

Speaker 34 Again, that's ro.co slash Shay Shay.

Speaker 35 Now, you know your aunt got to shoot you straight.

Speaker 34 Rose Sparks is a compounded drug that means it's allowed to be prescribed under federal law, but it isn't FDA approved and it doesn't go through their reviews. For the full safety info, hit up ro

Speaker 34 slash safety info. So, fellas, stay confident, stay ready, and let them sparks fly when the moment is right.

Speaker 35 I work with one of the know this because the guys, like when oh, you want to ask about sex question? Yeah,

Speaker 35 do they tell you y'all can't do that?

Speaker 37 I don't know what the other women do, but I sustain, but I stay away from sex six weeks before the fight.

Speaker 35 So, like a male fighter, you they can't have none, so you can't get none either.

Speaker 35 That's what you, I mean, you tell me.

Speaker 37 I mean,

Speaker 35 have you always thought like that?

Speaker 37 I know other girls who do it the day of, the day before they, like, they be having their little sex and stuff. Me, I'm not doing that.

Speaker 37 For me,

Speaker 37 with the little sex stuff, whatever y'all want to call it, that makes me feel really relaxed

Speaker 37 and really calm. Yeah.

Speaker 35 You don't want to feel calm.

Speaker 37 No, when you got a pit bull on your ass, you want all the run.

Speaker 37 You got to be able to get that.

Speaker 37 You got to be able to run.

Speaker 37 No, like, it really does take something out

Speaker 37 your legs to me. So it's like six weeks, maybe that's why I'd be so mean and angry.
Yeah. Because six weeks without none, and then you just got to go in there and fight.
But hey, I feel good.

Speaker 37 I'm in my millions. I feel better being healthy.
I feel a lot stronger not doing it. Okay.
Not doing it.

Speaker 35 So how do you, with that trial and error, did you have to know with a situation like, man, I felt sluggish. No, that ain't happening no more.
I just

Speaker 35 didn't feel ugh. Because a lot of times as an athlete, it's trial and error.
What works for me? How much to train? How much to lift? How much to run? How much to eat?

Speaker 35 How much sleep do I get? All of this trial and error. And then you fine-tune it and you get it together.

Speaker 42 Yeah, you find what works for you.

Speaker 37 Yep.

Speaker 37 Well, unlike other

Speaker 37 people,

Speaker 37 I didn't start doing that stuff till I was 17 after I won the Olympics. So before then, I never even fooled around anyway.

Speaker 37 So now that I'm grown or teenager, whatever you want to call it, now, you know,

Speaker 37 I'm in the gym constantly every day, too. So, Coach wants to spar two or three times a week.
So, I realized that when I come to the gym and

Speaker 37 I've been doing that grown people stuff,

Speaker 37 I'm a bit more tired. Yes.
You know, I can't fight as hard. And guess who noticed it? Coach.

Speaker 35 He noticed it. He like, hold on, what you do with what you did last night? Excuse?

Speaker 37 Yeah, coach. And

Speaker 37 so, like I said, Jason

Speaker 37 used to call me out in front of everybody because I was like his daughter. So, he called me out, all rest, you look like shit today.
You've been out there fooling around.

Speaker 37 I could tell you need to stop doing all that.

Speaker 35 Put your business out on blast like that.

Speaker 37 Yeah, Jason was like that. Oh, my goodness.
And it was, and at the time, it was very embarrassing because it was like, This is new to me. Nobody even knows I do this stuff.
Right.

Speaker 37 And here you is telling everybody my business. But, um, no, I just know, like, he was right, though.
It does make you sluggish and tired. And

Speaker 37 I feel way more sharper when I'm not. And for me, I spar against men getting ready for fights.
Okay. So it's like, these men come in here fast and strong and sharp.
I got to be on my A game.

Speaker 37 And the last thing I want to

Speaker 37 leave me is my damn legs.

Speaker 35 Right. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 37 Yeah. So I'd be like, mm-mm.

Speaker 35 I don't really fool around like that. When is your next fight?

Speaker 37 Okay, so my next fight supposed to be January 24th. Okay.
At Bass State Farm here in Atlanta.

Speaker 35 Okay.

Speaker 37 Possibly the opponent is Franchon Cruz. but I'm re-signing to my

Speaker 37 promotion with Solita Promotion/slash Win,

Speaker 37 and I'm being paid $8 million.

Speaker 35 Wow. Yep.

Speaker 37 And that's just in a couple of days. Once we get paperwork done and everything,

Speaker 37 that's why I said it's really, it's really big.

Speaker 37 It's really,

Speaker 37 I don't know. I feel very proud that I was able to get this offer.

Speaker 37 I've been talking with some of the biggest promotions out there: MVP, MVP, Match Room,

Speaker 37 Salita,

Speaker 37 you know, talking to everybody, trying to get the best deal. And now that my stardom has grown so much now,

Speaker 37 and now I can actually,

Speaker 37 you know, the goal gets paid.

Speaker 35 Yeah.

Speaker 35 If someone were, if we, if

Speaker 35 movie, they come say, you know what, we want to do a movie about Carissa Shields' life.

Speaker 37 We did one already.

Speaker 35 I want another one because

Speaker 35 you're all this time champion

Speaker 35 who would you like to play you

Speaker 37 oh Lord see honestly maybe I'm biased but Ryan Destiny played me so good you want why I do it again but

Speaker 37 if I had to pick somebody else

Speaker 35 I know who I know who I know who my audience would want to play you Angela Bassett

Speaker 35 Kiki.

Speaker 37 Kiki Palmer. Well, she, Kiki Palmer played.
Listen, I'm not going going to.

Speaker 37 I thought Kiki was going to play me for the first one for the biopic. So when I came back and they said it was Ryan Destiny, I was like,

Speaker 35 oh, okay.

Speaker 37 No, but it's not that she's not a good actress. It was just like, she's small.
Yeah. She's tiny.
Yeah.

Speaker 35 Well, Kiki is small and tiny, too. But I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 37 But she's played more sports and she kind of reforms her body or whatever. So I was like, I don't know how

Speaker 37 she's going to play me. But man, when I told that girl got on a diet, was drinking protein, drinks, and everything, Ryan did it.
She did her thing on the fire inside.

Speaker 37 But for my next one, yeah, Akiki, Angela Bassett.

Speaker 35 What didn't they cover in the first that you would like to get covered this time? Would you like it? So obviously they take the beginning stages. So now you're at a different place in your life now.

Speaker 35 The relationship, potentially kids will be in the mix. So is that something that you would want to get covered this time around?

Speaker 37 Yeah.

Speaker 37 Yeah. I want them to actually cover the grown woman that figured it out.
You know what I'm saying? I think that from my documentary that was a long, long time ago, T-Rex,

Speaker 37 they released that when I was 19.

Speaker 35 Okay.

Speaker 37 And so it's an hour and a half documentary where they actually follow me around and whatever. So now until the fire inside came out,

Speaker 37 Okay, basically from the documentary like they it left people like yeah, she won an Olympic gold medal, but she's still living in Flint still poor blah blah blah and that carried on until the fire inside came out but i've been

Speaker 37 won the olympics again been moved out of flint been lived in florida colorado now i'm here in atlanta i had already you know started getting my life together yeah had bought me a house cars bought mama a house bought daddy a place yeah so i already had did all this stuff but it was like none of that

Speaker 35 None of that was in the original. So now you want that side to be shown as well.

Speaker 37 Yeah, to show that like, this is what actually happened. Like, even now, people don't like the relationship with me and my first coach.

Speaker 37 We still talk here and there. He comes to my fight.
He's supportive.

Speaker 37 But that's still like my dad. You know, and every relationship is not like father-daughter.
It's not really close. But I know that if I call him and I need him, he's there.
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 35 Was it difficult to split?

Speaker 37 Yeah.

Speaker 35 That's the only coach you had known. You had such success.

Speaker 37 And for me,

Speaker 37 that's why I don't think I have a lot of friends because I don't want to be friends with you and then we and then we fall out.

Speaker 37 Like it really hurts my feelings. Like I don't like betrayal.
I don't like disloyalty. So for me, it's like if I take you in, take you in as my friend,

Speaker 37 let's be friends and let's be good friends to each other. I don't like, you know, we live in a world where it's just fake, fake, you know.

Speaker 37 Oh, somebody that was your best friend is going around telling everybody your business and spitting on your name and all this stuff. It's like, I don't like that.

Speaker 37 Like that made me want to fight somebody for real, for real. Well, everything made me want to fight somebody, don't they?

Speaker 37 But that really, like,

Speaker 37 when it comes to that, it's like, dang, you're going to hurt my feelings and make me trust you and make me care about you and then just get to being fake and stuff.

Speaker 37 Like that really, really bothers me. So I'd be kind of like this with that.

Speaker 37 So me and Jason not. us separating about a young age and out and not training together no more.
It was very weird because I felt like I was betraying them by getting me a a new coach.

Speaker 37 He was like, dang, but I was professional. So I'm like,

Speaker 37 I got to fight in eight weeks. I ain't even got time to fix this relationship.

Speaker 39 We got to fight.

Speaker 37 So it was like, either we're going to do this fight and kind of ignore whatever we're going through, or I got to go to this new coach and figure this out.

Speaker 37 And then when we come back, but it was just like

Speaker 37 at the beginning of my professional career, nobody had time to do that. It was like, I was fighting back to back to back.

Speaker 37 This belt, that belt, this belt, that belt, this champion, that champion there was no time to

Speaker 37 worry about a or oh oh you're upset you're mad you want to talk with me it wasn't it wasn't no time for that it was like i gotta i gotta you gotta get it while the getting is good yep you know so that was how i was wow you mentioned earlier that you you spar with men you don't spar with women no no why

Speaker 37 I gotta really see what I got.

Speaker 35 I got to work my stuff.

Speaker 37 So it's like with the women, sometimes you hit them too hard or they contact you personal. It's like when we spar against the men, you come out there and you show them what you got.

Speaker 37 They show you what they got and y'all can actually, you know, work.

Speaker 35 You spar with Earl Earl Earl Errol Spence and Shakur. Uh-huh.

Speaker 37 I spar Earl Spence, Shakur, Boots, Keyshawn Davis.

Speaker 35 Damn.

Speaker 37 Yeah, I sparred a lot of them. I'm trying to think who else has sparred.

Speaker 37 I spar a lot of guys.

Speaker 37 It's guys who are professional now.

Speaker 37 Like, of course, you know, like the first guy,

Speaker 37 Ardrell Holmes, Holmes, that was the first boyfriend I had.

Speaker 37 We spar all the time. One of my biggest sparring partners, Sardia Simmons.
I sparred against a lot of men. I mean, I can't even name everybody.

Speaker 37 Kenneth Sims, he's fighting, he's getting ready for a world championship, and he's been fighting for world championships for a minute.

Speaker 37 I sparred against a lot of people.

Speaker 35 Are you the only woman fighter that possibly spars against men, or do you?

Speaker 35 Most of them do?

Speaker 35 The good ones,

Speaker 37 the ones who are really good, you know, can, but

Speaker 37 not, not all of them, but I probably spar with more men than they do. Right.
Than than

Speaker 37 they do. Right.
Yeah, I think that. But I mean, I have to.
I'm 180 pounds. Right.
Yeah. And then even when I was smaller, see, when I'm smaller, I'm actually a bit more dangerous because I'm faster.

Speaker 37 I'm stronger and I'm in way better shape. Right.
You know, so I've always had to like,

Speaker 37 I sparred Tony Harrison. Wow.
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 37 saying like I was sparred against some some champions some really good male some really good male fighters male fighters and I'm telling you like you can hit them up and ask them how the sparring was and they all be like yo she was she was tough she was strong she was fast I had to keep my hands up I had to be on my defense like it's always some always some good work I think out of sparring all of them the hardest was Shakur and Earl cannot hit Shakur

Speaker 37 can't hit him I'm like, I don't know if it was like, was I a step behind this day or what, but I could not catch this man.

Speaker 37 I think I probably hit him with a right hand and a big old uppercut or something i tried to drop him with a with a with a with a body shot and then we just got the going but it's hard to hit him when he don't want to get hit he don't want to get hit but he know how to counter it and everything and then earl i was 17 he was just so strong right he was so strong and it was just like what I had to box him.

Speaker 37 I had to move around on him because I'm like, this dude's too strong to be standing here and trying to fight with.

Speaker 37 So Earl Smith was really, really strong.

Speaker 37 But they wanted to use him to make me

Speaker 37 move around on my feet more because everybody that I was sparring, I was just going in there and just beating them down. Right.

Speaker 37 So they were like, Earl, gonna make her have to use her skills and move around or whatever, whatever.

Speaker 35 So, Clarissa, thanks for coming by. Thanks for your time.
Appreciate it. Continued success.
Congratulations on everything you accomplished and all the best in the future.

Speaker 37 Thank you, Carissa Shields.
