Speaker 23 Are we all going together? Are we splitting?

Speaker 11 We're going together.

Speaker 24 I don't like the idea of splitting us up, especially when there are so many unknowns down here.

Speaker 1 I'm not going anywhere alone.

Speaker 25 Betty, is it dry through there?

Speaker 1 Sorry, I was just lost in some thoughts.

Speaker 1 You can see that it's not flooded through here, so we should go in quick and then shut the door behind us.

Speaker 24 It's not going to work that way. If you open this door the weight of this water will drive us all

Speaker 1 so I think that you can so you can see just by looking at the sort of mechanics of this door there is essentially a sequence of

Speaker 1 sort of like locks and balances and essentially every sequence pressurizes the like the room beyond that little bit.

Speaker 1 And so essentially you'll make like a roll just to make sure that that doesn't get out of sequence but essentially like if if you do everything in the right order, that chamber inside should like rebalance.

Speaker 1 Essentially, this was like a fail-safe should this exact thing happen, okay?

Speaker 15 Sure, sure, sure.

Speaker 24 If there is a way that I can assist, because I'm pretty used to this sort of procedures, yeah, I will help you.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I'll start opening the door. Okay, great.
Uh, so yeah, we'll go ahead and make this a

Speaker 21 um

Speaker 1 I'm actually making some read check.

Speaker 28 Read, okay, okay.

Speaker 1 And then are you assisting?

Speaker 15 Thank you.

Speaker 29 Thank you.

Speaker 1 That's a six. That's a six, okay.
Yeah, you kind of watch as you kind of,

Speaker 1 there's a few little sort of turns and you can hear sort of

Speaker 1 now like air and sort of water rushing through pipes. And you actually see the room beyond starting to fill with water

Speaker 1 as like very slowly the door itself, after a while, after the room has filled up completely with water, the door itself kind of compresses in and slides to the side.

Speaker 1 and you see the exact same thing on the other side so essentially that should you do the same thing the water will now drain out of that chamber and you can open that um so do you wish to sort of proceed on are you gonna you know drain the water out of this

Speaker 26 okay

Speaker 1 so you go through drain the water out of this chamber so the other door kind of swings open

Speaker 1 and you are now for the first time sort of out of water. Do you guys wish to continue with your suits?

Speaker 1 As in you're keeping your oxygen flowing?

Speaker 23 Akira, do you think it is safe?

Speaker 31 I just begin to take it off. Okay.
Don't even wait.

Speaker 1 You can just essentially just turn it off.

Speaker 32 Yeah, turn the oxygen off, yeah.

Speaker 24 I'm going to turn off my oxygen, but keep my seals, and I'm going to watch and see how Mr. Adams behaves over the next 30 seconds.

Speaker 1 He doesn't start to turn blue or anything like that, so you'd assume that he's breathing fine, at least for the moment.

Speaker 34 I kind of look to you, I'm like, seem safe.

Speaker 23 Then I will do the same. Okay.

Speaker 24 I'm going to crack the seal on my helmet but I am not taking it off.

Speaker 35 Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1 So for the time being oxygen is not flowing

Speaker 1 and you

Speaker 1 there's basically like yeah this like sort of round tube and in the middle there is this walkway that Decept sort of goes through and you can see

Speaker 1 Outside, it's almost like in an aquarium where you're sort of surrounded on all sides by water, but it is completely pitch black. There is the occasional, now that you're sort of here and

Speaker 1 in this part, you can see that there's the occasional like sort of flicker of bioluminescence. Maybe like an anglerfish or something sort of swims past.

Speaker 1 There's like the occasional little bursts of light, almost like stars, sort of through this sort of inky blackness.

Speaker 1 And I'm going to get...

Speaker 1 Yeah, no, actually, you tell me.

Speaker 1 Are you proceeding forward, pushing on?

Speaker 1 And can I get an order? Because you'd probably have to go single file, especially in these sort of slightly

Speaker 11 heavier.

Speaker 34 I will probably

Speaker 27 lead.

Speaker 1 Go first? Yeah, I'll go first.

Speaker 17 I'm going to follow Mr.

Speaker 1 Mr. Damon.

Speaker 15 I'm hiring back.

Speaker 1 Hanging back?

Speaker 23 I was going to say that

Speaker 23 I think I'm. As I'm walking, I'm kind of looking around in fascination.

Speaker 23 This is incredible to see this in the flesh.

Speaker 23 So probably hanging back as well.

Speaker 11 Would we go in the middle?

Speaker 24 Yes, and I am.

Speaker 1 Where would you like the doctor to go?

Speaker 24 I think he's being manhandled by Monsieur Adams, so he'll be actually in front of me.

Speaker 1 He's in front of you. Yeah, okay.

Speaker 31 Sorry, I'm gonna change the order.

Speaker 32 I'm actually gonna be in front of the doctor.

Speaker 11 You're gonna be in front of the doctor.

Speaker 1 Okay. And who is gonna be actually at the back then between you two?

Speaker 23 Whatever you think.

Speaker 20 I wanna be right at the back.

Speaker 11 Right at the back, okay.

Speaker 23 I'm walking quite slowly.

Speaker 32 Okay, so you guys are back.

Speaker 1 I'm sticking as close to this guy as I can.

Speaker 24 I'm going to hang back slightly and just quietly whisper to

Speaker 24 Val and Emily.

Speaker 24 I don't know Mr. Adams' intentions, but our medicine, our doctor

Speaker 24 may very well be from Atlantec.

Speaker 24 The idea that he is being manhandled by doc mister Adams isn't necessarily because Mr. Adams doesn't like him.
Perhaps it is both are in Atlantic employee and are sticking together.

Speaker 24 So I will be watching them very closely. I do not like this.

Speaker 1 I think as they're having a sort of more serious, quiet conversation at back, I'm kind of just rambling, maybe, and I'm like, um, so like, Mr.

Speaker 1 Damon, you like, you know, where you come from, you know, where's uh, you like movies? Uh

Speaker 16 where I come from, yeah,

Speaker 31 your mother's funny.

Speaker 15 Oh shit, okay.

Speaker 1 Well, I don't need to be rude about it. I guess I'll just be quiet then.
Geez, just trying to make a little conversation. It's pretty scary down here, you know?

Speaker 31 The waste in the oxygen.

Speaker 1 I like movies.

Speaker 1 Yeah, maybe zip it, doctor. Oh, right.
I shouldn't talk either. Okay.

Speaker 24 Don't feel bad, Betty. You have already contributed to our cause much better than this gentleman here.

Speaker 1 All right, let's just get down to the power system, gentlemen. You know, let's just

Speaker 1 get on with the job, right? You know, fair enough, we're here to do a job. Just trying to make, you know.

Speaker 1 Something

Speaker 1 moves.

Speaker 27 I got it.

Speaker 23 Within the tunnel, though.

Speaker 1 On the outside of the tunnel.

Speaker 1 But large enough for you to... for it to catch your attention.

Speaker 1 Something

Speaker 1 that moves.

Speaker 1 Very.

Speaker 1 It's not that same kind of fluid, sort of shimmery motion of a

Speaker 1 fish. Something a bit more

Speaker 1 jerking and aggressive.

Speaker 24 Turn off the lights.

Speaker 31 My light instantly goes off.

Speaker 23 Emily leans forward to Hercule and says,

Speaker 23 Your mind makes things up in the darkness. Is that correct?

Speaker 24 That does not look like intuition to me.

Speaker 23 Emily turns out her light.

Speaker 17 Emily then turns around.

Speaker 1 So you hear something start to

Speaker 1 scratch, and then

Speaker 1 a distant sound.

Speaker 11 You hear a

Speaker 1 almost like a rush,

Speaker 1 and then it immediately stops.

Speaker 32 My hand goes back to Betty with the hearing of the breathing, and it's this.

Speaker 31 You feel this large paw just on your shoulder, but it doesn't feel aggressive.

Speaker 31 It's just enough weight.

Speaker 1 Something lands on the bridge.

Speaker 31 Hand still on the shoulder.

Speaker 1 And then you hear...

Speaker 31 Hand still on the shoulder. My other hand's going to reach for my hunter's knife.

Speaker 31 And as my hunt, and as I'm feeling it, can I sense that it is in front of me?

Speaker 34 It's behind you.

Speaker 1 Right. It is right behind

Speaker 27 you.

Speaker 27 Right. Oh my god.

Speaker 31 So then what I'm gonna then do is I'm gonna try and maneuver myself

Speaker 16 across everyone to try and get to this thing.

Speaker 31 Okay.

Speaker 1 Would you like to are you trying to do it silently? Are you trying to

Speaker 16 small movements, but like very slow.

Speaker 1 Before that happens, may I please ask

Speaker 1 anyone who perhaps might have been affected by that to

Speaker 1 make me a just make your gilded roll, if you will. So use your gilded roll, basically.

Speaker 1 However many dice you have for that.

Speaker 1 Would I have been affected?

Speaker 24 I feel like I'm

Speaker 27 right, but I'm like, I'm almost like

Speaker 4 I'm happy for that, yeah.

Speaker 29 All right,

Speaker 27 four gilded,

Speaker 23 six gilded,

Speaker 15 Six. Four.

Speaker 27 Oh, four. Six.

Speaker 26 Six. Four.

Speaker 28 Four. Six.

Speaker 35 Six.

Speaker 24 And is this a sound that I would know?

Speaker 32 No.

Speaker 1 I will say this.

Speaker 1 I think for all of you, it starts as this raspy kind of

Speaker 1 intake of

Speaker 1 and then it starts to change. Almost like there is something...

Speaker 1 some new kind of mechanism or something that's being

Speaker 1 that's sort of trying to function and it's not quite working because you hear this like

Speaker 1 um

Speaker 1 and i think that what you would sense is that like it almost sounds the closest thing that you can to is like when a fish is stranded on the beach oh so interesting um i'm going to quietly take my helmet off

Speaker 24 extend it as far away from my body as possible and turn on the lights i am

Speaker 24 i think right next to Val.

Speaker 1 So are you will you are you going to allow Damon to kind of move past you first?

Speaker 11 No problem.

Speaker 26 Okay.

Speaker 1 This

Speaker 1 smell Damon as you walk past Val of rotting flesh becomes almost unbearable.

Speaker 27 Okay.

Speaker 1 As you move past and then I think this light then

Speaker 1 this light flicks on and probably six inches from your face you see a completely faceless creature almost like this pale blue skin has been pulled over the head of this humanoid covered in fins, barnacles, claws, spikes all poking out from different places, scratches all over its body that look concurrent, almost as if it's done it to itself.

Speaker 1 And the light turns on, and there is absolutely no reaction from the creature, as it doesn't have an eye, it doesn't have eyes, it doesn't have a mouth, it doesn't have a nose, and that noise seems to be coming from its throat.

Speaker 16 So if it's close to me,

Speaker 31 I'm gonna place the knife just underneath, just aim for the neck,

Speaker 31 and then I'm just gonna

Speaker 31 move straight in for the stab for the neck.

Speaker 16 Make me a strike rolls.

Speaker 31 Six and a four. Six and a four.

Speaker 15 Okay.

Speaker 1 So this we are going to introduce another mechanic that I've made for this. So we have now what's called a cinematic mode.

Speaker 1 Now what this means is that during a cinematic mode we have a slightly more turn-based sense of action, but it's very very simple.

Speaker 1 Essentially the group will all choose whether they want to go high tide or low tide. If you go high tide you act first.
If you go low tide you act second.

Speaker 1 I will also pick one and if there's a conflict between what I want and what you want we'll do a simple roll-off and whoever wins gets to choose

Speaker 1 is there a benefit to going second well essentially it's like if I call for a cinematic but you don't necessarily know why you might want to go second so that you get a chance to see whatever

Speaker 1 rather than sort of wasting essentially a turn of just you know not knowing what is happening

Speaker 1 so with that said

Speaker 1 we will resolve that at the top but what does the group want to do do they want to go high tide or low tide?

Speaker 25 Does the

Speaker 20 high tide or low tide take place after the stab?

Speaker 1 The stab is going to happen at the top of the round, and then essentially we'll go into high tide muscle. I think I'm low tide.
I'm at the back, and I'm just freaking out.

Speaker 15 It's a collective decision as well.

Speaker 27 Oh, it's a collective decision.

Speaker 33 Gosh, okay.

Speaker 11 Well, I think

Speaker 31 with the action that I've just done, it makes us high tide, right?

Speaker 1 Yeah, I mean, that makes sense to me. That would all give you a sense of a chance to act now in this moment before the creature did.

Speaker 24 Action has already been taken. I was originally thinking perhaps if it is actually blind, we could just give it space and see what it does, but...

Speaker 25 It has a knife in its throat?

Speaker 16 Yeah, with two successes, I'm going to use my render flash as well.

Speaker 32 Okay.

Speaker 30 You're very good at killing things, Mr.

Speaker 24 Adams.

Speaker 1 We'll say we're just stabbed a creature, so we're going to need you to make a decision real fast. I think it makes sense to be high-tide.

Speaker 1 Like, this is like an impact thing, like, reactions, like jumping in.

Speaker 25 This

Speaker 11 knife goes

Speaker 1 into the throat of this creature.

Speaker 1 And you see it kind of reaching out, and it sort of places this wet, sort of

Speaker 25 sort of

Speaker 1 strange. It's not skin, it's like it's not skin and it's not scales, it's something in between.
It leaves like this sinewy kind of sludge all over your face.

Speaker 32 What are other people doing?

Speaker 20 Bloody hell, I retreat.

Speaker 1 You're still like halfway across this thing, so right. So, the rest of you are sort of the other side, you're the right side in terms of the direction that you want to head.
So,

Speaker 32 I mean, I'm gonna

Speaker 31 once i've done that i'm gonna look back and get and kind of direct people to like i'm like run

Speaker 1 uh and you were gonna use your rend flesh ability i mean yes which is when you get two or more successes in your dice pool making a strike action you can choose to do a critical piece of damage what would you like to do i guess my the the knife is just gonna turn and as i as it turns i'm gonna lever it up and almost go to like slice the break the head in half okay

Speaker 6 twist it slice through There is a.

Speaker 1 As you slice through, you see a perfectly human skull on the inside as it cleaves in half. That same noise, that kind of wet gargle of blood

Speaker 1 as it drops back onto the ground.

Speaker 23 Emily moves forward, just absolutely fascinated. And you can almost hear her whisper under her breath, I knew it.

Speaker 33 I knew it.

Speaker 1 We heard this thing like something land on the walkway, right?

Speaker 27 I'm gonna look up?

Speaker 1 Well, are you still using light? So you... What are you choosing to do? You know what? Yeah, I think, like, I'm not even...
I'm thinking I'm just like...

Speaker 1 I turn my... I look up.
You look up, and there is absolutely no...

Speaker 1 There is nothing wrong with the exterior. There is some water that seems to have pulled very briefly into the

Speaker 1 bottom of this tube that wasn't there before, but the actual, like, outside of this tube is perfectly intact.

Speaker 31 it was high enough up that something could have been up there and then dropped down no it's a pretty small tube what the fuck um how did this thing get in here well i'm i'm not even asking questions or thinking if it's it's down right yeah so i'm gonna grab it by its leg and i'm gonna drag it past everyone to the front yep and go towards the where we were going as as he goes emily runs out wait wait wait wait trying to take a photo yeah

Speaker 34 i kind of look as i walk past,

Speaker 32 I walk past Haki

Speaker 32 and kind of look at him and be like

Speaker 31 as if like the flash of the light and kind of move on.

Speaker 1 What the fuck is going on?

Speaker 27 Oh, bloody hell.

Speaker 1 I don't like this.

Speaker 1 So the

Speaker 1 you manage to open the two doors. It seems that this next room, this next area, doesn't, it's not flooded or anything like that.

Speaker 1 So you make your way through and into the billow's reach.

Speaker 31 Is there an open space here? Is there like. Yeah, there will be.
I'm going to put the body just in the middle there.

Speaker 32 Yeah.

Speaker 31 Clean my blade.

Speaker 5 You

Speaker 1 make your way through the door. As you get through into the billow's reach,

Speaker 1 you feel like you can smell it first.

Speaker 1 There is some sort of gas in the air here, and the oxygen in the style can be a little thin.

Speaker 23 Should we put our helmets back on?

Speaker 24 I think that's a good idea.

Speaker 1 As you get through into this room, what you see,

Speaker 1 there is a. In fact, actually, why don't everyone give me a survey roll? Because you're still, there's no power on, so we're still using our headlights.

Speaker 1 So I think this is essentially like what you are kind of able to kind of scan and see.

Speaker 23 Going to take a gilded five. Three.

Speaker 16 Four.

Speaker 16 Four. Of course, six.

Speaker 16 Okay.

Speaker 1 So as you're looking around, trying to uncover,

Speaker 1 you know, what this room is, it's actually a much larger room than any that you've been in thus far.

Speaker 1 One whole side of the room seems to be a series of very complicated sort of dials and buttons, which would probably only make even vague sense to you two.

Speaker 1 It does seem that there are as well, almost like a railway kind of map. There's like a

Speaker 1 bunch of lines and then sort of light, like what looks like they would be like little light light bulbs and then it kind of leads to something else and something else and something else and it's all sort of connected along this big wall along one side.

Speaker 24 A grid map perhaps?

Speaker 1 It is in a sense, yes.

Speaker 1 And under a kind of big port window, you see there is a table.

Speaker 1 You got six?

Speaker 11 Yeah.

Speaker 1 So I think you see there's a big table and actually you look down and catch there is a chessboard. Um chess some of the chess pieces, like two of them still stand.
Um there is a uh

Speaker 1 in one chair on the right hand side you see a

Speaker 1 skeleton with another one of those strange kind of

Speaker 1 leather pouch things.

Speaker 1 And with the six you notice that there is a handcuffed hand that remains kind of like on the table and the other side of the handcuff is attached to the chip like the leg

Speaker 1 and the most peculiar thing about this hand is that it is still intact rotted certainly but it is not a skeleton

Speaker 35 oh

Speaker 35 what

Speaker 1 I think as you're kind of walking around as well you get this really sort of particularly like sort of metallic tinge

Speaker 1 as you're as you're looking around.

Speaker 31 I'm gonna take the lanyard.

Speaker 31 Would I have noticed that you have got the other one on you? Have you got it on your person visibly or? Yes, I didn't hide it.

Speaker 24 I was. Yeah.

Speaker 32 So I kind of walk over. I'm like.

Speaker 32 You like to collect these, eh?

Speaker 24 I will hold on to it for you, of course. Are we in this?

Speaker 1 So this is. Yeah, you feel like.

Speaker 1 Just to clarify as well, there is absolutely air here. It's just a little thin.
Like, you feel like if you were to be without your helmet for a while, you might get a little

Speaker 27 bit of sort of thing.

Speaker 24 I would also caution and we don't know if this gas is flammable.

Speaker 1 It's a good shout, yeah. Does it smell like anything? Like, this is just like that metallic tinge.

Speaker 1 It doesn't smell like methane or gas or anything like that. I don't think it's it's not methane on usual gas, but it could be something.
Maybe something they use in their experiments or whatever.

Speaker 1 Are we gonna talk about this fucking thing?

Speaker 1 I know we got a job to do, but what the fuck is this?

Speaker 24 Let the dash.

Speaker 30 What the fuck?

Speaker 1 That was me being we. That was just me being mean.

Speaker 35 It's fine. It's not moving anymore.

Speaker 1 We will be right back after this break.

Speaker 36 I don't mean to interrupt your meal, but I love Geico's fast and friendly claim service.

Speaker 1 Okay, these two. Yeah, if these two say I'm looking at it, I'm looking at it.

Speaker 1 Let me go have a look at it.

Speaker 23 I'm curious to know the method of preservation.

Speaker 1 Wait, what? Is this a human skull in here? Oh, I don't like that. I don't.
I don't love that. The bones are the same.

Speaker 1 From what you slice this thing in half, the bones are the same. Why are the bones the same?

Speaker 31 I kind of look too.

Speaker 33 Uh, why are the bones the same?

Speaker 24 The cube.

Speaker 24 The bones, yes, I want to know also

Speaker 24 in the ocular cavity, is there an eye? Is it vestigial? What is happening here?

Speaker 11 Uh-huh.

Speaker 1 There's a space where the eye would be, and he sort of

Speaker 1 oh no, I don't like this.

Speaker 1 Kind of digs around in what the eye socket would be, and you see that there is like the beginning. He's like, there's the beginnings of an optical nerve, but it doesn't end in anything.

Speaker 1 It just ends in flesh.

Speaker 24 Almost as if it has adapted to life in the dark.

Speaker 1 Yeah, it's probably kind of concurrent with other

Speaker 1 things like fish and things down here that had eyes at some point and then essentially don't need them, so they just become dead.

Speaker 11 With

Speaker 24 if I go to it, is it bleeding?

Speaker 31 Is there any blood?

Speaker 1 It's I think on the like the further in you go

Speaker 1 almost sort of like

Speaker 1 a sort of medium rare steak.

Speaker 31 Oh. Right.
And then with it,

Speaker 31 like when I smell it,

Speaker 31 what does it smell like?

Speaker 1 I think it's hard for you to get it to smell because you've got your helmet on right now. So you'd probably have to.

Speaker 31 So yeah, I would have taken.

Speaker 11 So you take the helmet off briefly?

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 It is that same like putrid smell of like

Speaker 1 yeah, like rotted flesh mixed with like fish.

Speaker 34 Okay.

Speaker 34 Yeah.

Speaker 31 Kind of wipe my hands. Put my helmet back on, I wipe it and I'm look at your lanyard and I'm like

Speaker 31 So I'm side

Speaker 24 I think it is time that we open these and see

Speaker 1 the contents Yes, you're gonna open one of these which one are you gonna open the one that you found in here or the one that you found earlier?

Speaker 24 I think we should open one first but my intention I think is to open both.

Speaker 1 Okay, yeah, which one do you want to open first?

Speaker 24 Let's open the one we found in here first.

Speaker 1 You go ahead, open it up and you find this strange-looking sort of long,

Speaker 1 almost like a cassette tape holder. There's a little keypad at one end, at the other end, there's like a play button, a pause button, rewind, and a record.

Speaker 1 And then there's like a little kind of it looks like it's almost like a per like a built-in cassette, like it doesn't, the actual thing cartridge doesn't come out or in, right?

Speaker 1 It's like all one piece.

Speaker 1 And at the end that's sort of facing up in the lanyard, you can see there's like a little kind of gauze where a microphone would be

Speaker 24 some sort of log or recording device yeah it looks like it i've used these before

Speaker 23 in my research it must be some type of

Speaker 23 is there a button

Speaker 1 i don't know much about these sort of electronics so i will hand it if you have experience i will hand it to you how familiar am i i think you've probably seen one of these things before it's not like a particularly revolutionary piece of tech the only thing you do know is that sometimes the these are because they because you can't remove the cartridge, you can like almost like pin protect the um

Speaker 24 over it, right?

Speaker 1 To make sure if someone else found it, they can't just listen to

Speaker 1 um uh do you press the play button on this one?

Speaker 23 I believe yes.

Speaker 1 Okay, um,

Speaker 1 it does start to play.

Speaker 38 I love this place.

Speaker 38 Ranbior is just

Speaker 38 wow, I the brightest minds all working together. No red tape, no limits, just pure innovation.
We're making history, unlimited energy for the world. Can you believe it?

Speaker 38 And the layout? So efficient. If you know the right pathways, like I do, you can get anywhere in minutes.
I even found a tunnel, not on the schematics.

Speaker 39 It hums.

Speaker 38 Like the walls are singing with all these notes and marks on it, though not in a language I understand.

Speaker 38 I asked Marcus if it was part of the system, but he just gave me that serious face and changed the subject.

Speaker 18 I'll beat him at chess later and I'll make him spill.

Speaker 38 Oh, and last night, I was at my station in Billow's Reach and I used the current deflectors to give the divers on the outside a little boost.

Speaker 38 They swung by after to tell me how fun it was.

Speaker 38 Anyway,

Speaker 38 back to work before someone catches me talking to myself again.

Speaker 21 The future is

Speaker 32 so bright.

Speaker 23 Emily grabs out her notebook and tries to jot down everything that she just heard.

Speaker 1 I'm gonna go over where the chessboard was. You said that there was a handcuff with a hand opposite the person where the lanyard was taken from.
Yes.

Speaker 24 And look at the hand.

Speaker 1 Yeah. You look at the hand, it's this kind of rotted, putrid hand.
Do you want to uh is there a scar? I'm looking for a scar on one of the fingers. Why don't you give me a focus roll?

Speaker 35 Okay.

Speaker 1 I'm gonna spend a drive on this.

Speaker 1 Uh f two fives. Two fives? Two fives.

Speaker 1 There is so much sort of wrong with this hand that it's almost impossible to tell. It's been,

Speaker 1 you know, parts of the flesh are peeling. There looks as if there's probably been some creatures buried inside it at certain points.
It's really difficult to tell,

Speaker 1 but there is like one point where you're like,

Speaker 12 that does kind of feel like

Speaker 23 what do you see?

Speaker 1 Nothing, it's just you know, it's just a creepy hand, that's all.

Speaker 1 The audio lady said that she was playing chess with somebody.

Speaker 1 She figured it was something.

Speaker 1 We should get a move on. We should go find the power.

Speaker 1 We find ourselves in this

Speaker 1 billow's reach. Bodies on the floor.

Speaker 1 Just heard this message played out loud. I think you were going to try and play perhaps a second one.
I'm just going to hand that to you

Speaker 16 as he's opening this.

Speaker 1 Would you like to play

Speaker 1 try and play the other one that you have?

Speaker 24 I would like to look at the player and see if it looks the same as the other one we just used, or if it looks like in any way.

Speaker 1 You take a look at this thing, it looks a little bit more worn than perhaps the other one did.

Speaker 1 Do you go ahead and press the play button?

Speaker 17 Yes, please.

Speaker 1 You click it in, and it does seem like this one is pin protected, unfortunately.

Speaker 1 If you wanted to try to bypass it, you could.

Speaker 1 So, yeah, focus.

Speaker 20 I would like to focus and I will try and interface again with the tablet.

Speaker 27 Alright.

Speaker 20 I'll spend another point of drive.

Speaker 20 That is a gilded six.

Speaker 25 Okay, perfect.

Speaker 1 As you

Speaker 1 click it in, you

Speaker 1 find like one file.

Speaker 1 You manage to bypass the security on that one. There isn't actually a second one on here as well that you think you could access, but that it does look like will require the pin number.

Speaker 1 But you do get that it is only a three-digit number that you're looking for. However, you do get access to this one.

Speaker 1 Ah, yes, it's working. Oh, wait, is it? Yes.
Yes, of course it is.

Speaker 41 Doctor of Eddurand, personal log.

Speaker 19 Well, another one.

Speaker 41 No, to self, I need to organize these better.

Speaker 39 Tonight was

Speaker 41 different.

Speaker 40 The specimen, no.

Speaker 40 No, the subject saw me.

Speaker 41 Recognized me.

Speaker 39 It responded. Not just mimicking sounds, no, it mimicked form.

Speaker 40 Truth attempt, but unmistakable. Adaptive.

Speaker 41 Dr. Blackwell will call this reckless.

Speaker 19 They lack vision.

Speaker 39 The riftborn need more than caution.

Speaker 4 They need guidance.

Speaker 41 This one is still capable of speech.

Speaker 19 Fascinating.

Speaker 19 I should delete this.

Speaker 37 No.

Speaker 41 No, history does not remember the timid. I must keep it so everyone knows my great work.

Speaker 1 That is where it cuts out.

Speaker 16 Well, that was disturbing.

Speaker 23 Something happened here.

Speaker 25 What the blood has a riftborn?

Speaker 1 Riftborn subjects? specimens?

Speaker 1 This ain't what I signed on for. This ain't what.

Speaker 23 This is exactly what I signed on for.

Speaker 1 Well, that's good for you, lady, but we gotta job to. We need to get the power on.
We need to stop messing around here with all this

Speaker 1 sci-fi bullshit.

Speaker 24 Still capable of speech.

Speaker 24 Sounds like a subject.

Speaker 25 Is that like you think this thing?

Speaker 23 I feel like we ought to explore the the laboratory.

Speaker 23 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Well, that's...

Speaker 1 If you want to get to the observatory, it's through here, and we got to connect for another one of those tunnels.

Speaker 24 And is the observatory where we find the access to power?

Speaker 1 Yeah, there should be... From the Val, the schematics you brought up, right, it showed that there was a connection from the observatory and the Colgrave Nexus.

Speaker 15 Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 20 It all loops around, and the power is connected to the Nexus and the Haven Observatory.

Speaker 1 Yeah, so we go through the observatory observatory and then we can get to the power. Yeah.

Speaker 24 While we are discussing what to do next, I'm just going to take a look at the body.

Speaker 24 I want to see, you had mentioned that it has like barbs and other features on it. I want to see if I recognize anything that looks like perhaps from the ichthyology I've done, like

Speaker 24 venomous barbs, things that maybe

Speaker 33 it's poisonous.

Speaker 24 I want to know if we run into these again, if there are things that we need to be more careful about. It seemed to

Speaker 24 want to connect

Speaker 32 with you.

Speaker 1 I'll say that just based on your experience, you

Speaker 1 know that there are types of

Speaker 1 whether it be crustacean or bacteria or fungi or anything that like will sort of

Speaker 1 will sort of allow and allow for like growths and other such things and I think that the fact that these this sort of thing was covered in these like barbs and spines and

Speaker 1 part, like there was it's quite clear that this wasn't like an evolutionary thing, if that makes sense, right? That this was like somewhat random.

Speaker 1 And it seemed like the just based on like the scars and things like that that you can see on its arms, they all look like self-inflicted.

Speaker 1 So you can almost imagine that it was uncomfortable or difficult for the creature.

Speaker 24 It suffered.

Speaker 24 Mate,

Speaker 24 perhaps you did it a mercy

Speaker 24 Bethy, I'm not going to pry into your personal business, but I noticed that when you went over to the hand for a moment

Speaker 24 you seemed to be upset.

Speaker 1 Oh, you know, you see a

Speaker 1 crazy fish monster and a dead hand. Of course I'm upset.
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 11 Um

Speaker 11 yeah

Speaker 32 I don't want to pry.

Speaker 26 I'm also a little troubled.

Speaker 1 And this is not even me just being a wuss, but like,

Speaker 1 why is that hand not

Speaker 1 a skeleton? Like, you know, all the other bodies we've seen,

Speaker 1 they're like full. There's no flesh.

Speaker 1 It's been like, what, 10 years or something, they said?

Speaker 1 That's true. Like, that freaks me out, you know?

Speaker 1 That's not good.

Speaker 1 Maybe they were, maybe they were handcuffed there not that long ago. Maybe people people found a way to survive down here and something happened and then they.

Speaker 11 Yeah, no, I'm right.

Speaker 16 Then we can start assessing.

Speaker 24 Fair enough. The body is not missing a hand.

Speaker 17 Which one?

Speaker 24 This dead creature.

Speaker 23 I do agree with Damon that some things are unexplainable.

Speaker 23 Shall we continue on?

Speaker 11 Yeah.

Speaker 24 I just want to finish this real quick.

Speaker 24 And I'm using reed. Okay.

Speaker 24 Uh,

Speaker 24 so a six, but just to say

Speaker 24 it is your personal business. Just know that I'm here for you.
And if there's something that I can do to be of service.

Speaker 1 She is absolutely not telling the truth and is hiding something.

Speaker 16 It's very obvious.

Speaker 1 Very... whatever...
whoever that hand belonged to meant a lot to me.

Speaker 1 But yeah, um yeah, Mr. Damon's right.
Let's let's go. Uh can you help me with the door again?

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 1 Um

Speaker 1 as you begin uh you look through

Speaker 1 this next door opens quite easily. You will filter through.

Speaker 1 Uh you notice that the uh tube, this tube, is actually kind of broken halfway down, and so this will require you essentially to swim through.

Speaker 1 And there is a section where the tubes don't connect anymore.

Speaker 1 So I'm assuming you'll all put your...

Speaker 1 The door

Speaker 1 closes behind you, and water starts to seep up from below.

Speaker 1 Can I get people, please? I'll have everyone

Speaker 1 make me

Speaker 31 a control role.

Speaker 31 Okay,

Speaker 23 that's a one.

Speaker 30 I'm gonna resist that.

Speaker 26 That's a one.

Speaker 17 That's better.

Speaker 33 Jesus Christ.

Speaker 33 Wow.

Speaker 24 Double six.

Speaker 16 I got a six.

Speaker 1 Five. Five.

Speaker 20 That's a one

Speaker 1 as this water starts to fill up from the bottom,

Speaker 1 there is a moment for the two of you. I think the three of you see kind of what it is almost immediately.
It seems as though some sort of oil or

Speaker 1 like almost like a fluid of some sort kind of seeps into the room. It's like there's a

Speaker 1 something from the machinery. It's just sort of leaking, which shouldn't be a problem because you'll be in your suits.

Speaker 1 But I think there is a moment as you look down at these swirling kind of patterns on the on the ground for the two of you that you feel this

Speaker 1 twisting sensation in your stomach and you can't help but feel like there's almost like the motion of whatever that liquid is seems to move something inside your body almost like the blood itself starts to churn the wrong way around your organs and I need each of you to take a tide mark, please.

Speaker 1 We will be replacing bleed with tide in this game.

Speaker 23 Does anyone else feel that?

Speaker 20 I feel something. It doesn't feel right.

Speaker 20 No, it doesn't. My insides.
Your insides?

Speaker 42 Not good.

Speaker 24 Describe the sensation to me.

Speaker 23 It's almost like my blood is moving in rhythm with the churning of the liquid.

Speaker 23 What about you? Yeah, exactly that.

Speaker 1 I think the most unsettling part for the both of you is normally when you experience this kind of thing, whether it be on the ocean or, you know, whether it be the waves or something where it feels slightly disorientating, normally once you kind of realize it, it sort of stops.

Speaker 1 It's still going.

Speaker 23 Emily leans into Val and whispers,

Speaker 23 You still don't believe in ghost stories?

Speaker 20 No, I don't. This isn't a ghost.

Speaker 25 This is a doctor.

Speaker 4 Huh?

Speaker 15 Am I gonna be a fishman? What?

Speaker 1 Fishman. Are you gonna be a fishman?

Speaker 11 Am I gonna be a fishman?

Speaker 20 I don't feel right.

Speaker 27 Uh I hope not.

Speaker 1 I'll try and stab that, I guess.

Speaker 24 Is Val starting to spiral out here?

Speaker 1 Is Val. Do you think that Val's affected by this?

Speaker 20 Yeah, I'm not up for any part.

Speaker 1 Can you make me a gilded roll, please?

Speaker 1 Four. Four?

Speaker 1 So you feel yourself begin to panic and you burn through an hour of your oxygen.

Speaker 1 So if you can mark that down for me.

Speaker 1 So everyone actually would be down to five, so you're down to four.

Speaker 24 I'm going to

Speaker 24 take

Speaker 24 Val. I'm going to place my hands on either side on her shoulders

Speaker 24 and put my faceplate against hers so that she hears me speaking through the vibration of the helmet. I'm not distributing this to the group.
Sure, sure.

Speaker 24 Val, I've seen a lot of very scary things down here, and I have lost many good friends, but nothing is going to happen to you.

Speaker 30 You are in good hands,

Speaker 30 all right?

Speaker 24 Yes, and I'm gonna take that tide from her.

Speaker 4 Wow,

Speaker 4 okay, yeah,

Speaker 1 take the tide mark.

Speaker 30 We are all going home.

Speaker 1 I'm just gonna give you this just to mark your success there. You know what you can do with that.

Speaker 26 And that's when you would like to.

Speaker 28 Okay.

Speaker 15 Okay.

Speaker 42 Very good.

Speaker 42 Okay.

Speaker 1 So, on order, you're going first.

Speaker 26 I'll go right behind.

Speaker 29 And I'll go third.

Speaker 1 Go behind and stay at the back this time.

Speaker 42 Yes.

Speaker 23 I don't care as much this time. I'm just excited to see the next one.

Speaker 42 Okay. So, one, two, three.

Speaker 1 Doctor. Oh.

Speaker 42 Where do you want me?

Speaker 24 Why don't I take up the rear? You go ahead, Doctor. I will

Speaker 24 make sure that we aren't visited by another one of our friends. Okay.

Speaker 24 Sure.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 1 Will everyone just take one dice, please, as we begin to swim out and roll it for me?

Speaker 42 Two.

Speaker 42 Two.

Speaker 26 Five.

Speaker 42 Four. Four.

Speaker 1 It's another one. Another one.
One.

Speaker 42 One.

Speaker 1 Okay, I actually need the three of us to roll, as we all rolled once.

Speaker 27 Four.

Speaker 28 Two.

Speaker 1 That's a second one for the doctor.

Speaker 1 As you're

Speaker 1 swimming across through this sort of inky blackness, I think it takes a second for you actually to catch the other end of this pipe because it's so impossible to tell if you're drifting.

Speaker 1 It's essentially like trying to walk with your eyes closed, and there's that just natural, you know, drift that happens.

Speaker 1 And I think you literally, like, you almost would have gone past it until you sort of catch the your light kind of catches the rim of it and you kind of managed to course correct and you all follow in.

Speaker 1 And I think just as the two of you

Speaker 1 making your way in, something dashes across your field of vision at an almost impossible speed, and you see the doctor disappears.

Speaker 1 You don't hear a thing. It's literally like,

Speaker 1 and it's so quick that you genuinely can't, like, you don't even see what happened.

Speaker 11 What?

Speaker 1 The three of you haven't seen a thing.

Speaker 29 Oh, do we have to make a radio?

Speaker 1 Yeah, if you wanna, if you wanna see.

Speaker 26 Yeah, sorry, go.

Speaker 19 Doc! He's gone! Doc! Doctor, he's gone! What?

Speaker 22 Where did he go?

Speaker 18 Something took him.

Speaker 41 He's just gone. Swim as fast as you can.

Speaker 1 You can patch in directly to the doctor's channel if you'd like.

Speaker 34 Yep, I'll patch straight in. Okay.

Speaker 1 We hear a wet spunch,

Speaker 1 sounds of ocean,

Speaker 1 and a little.

Speaker 34 I go back to the normal comms and I just keep swimming forward.

Speaker 24 Does it remind us of the creature that we heard

Speaker 27 before we

Speaker 24 Mr. Stabby McSabstab decided to do his business?

Speaker 1 I think the sound reminds you more of.

Speaker 1 It reminds you more of something

Speaker 1 being eaten.

Speaker 30 Oh, good.

Speaker 34 Wow, that was...

Speaker 11 Okay, that was crazy.

Speaker 11 I just had a moment of realization that one of you guys kind of just died. Okay, anyway, moving on.

Speaker 27 Oh, God.

Speaker 1 Literally, he was the one who rolled the lowest. I hadn't even considered it could have been one of you two.
Oh my god.

Speaker 24 You cross next, I will follow after.

Speaker 1 But yeah, so you've made it across. You're already you've all made it in.
Uh, you're heading through into the observatory?

Speaker 28 Yes. Okay.

Speaker 1 Yeah, we gotta get the fuck out of here.

Speaker 15 We're gonna take a short break right here, but we'll be back soon.

Speaker 8 Thumbtack presents. Project paralysis.
I was cornered.

Speaker 10 Sweat gathered above my furrowed brow, and my mind was racing.

Speaker 8 I wondered who would be left standing when the droplets fell.

Speaker 9 Me or the clawed sink.

Speaker 8 Drain cleaner and pipe snake clenched in my weary fist.

Speaker 9 I stepped toward the sink and then, wait, why am I stressing?

Speaker 14 I have thumbtack.

Speaker 44 How did this get made? The podcast where comedians Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphiel, and Jason Manzoukis unpack the very best of the very worst movies.

Speaker 44 They just finished their Sylvester Stallone summer series, and if you you want a great entry point into the show, then seek out their fan-favorite episode on the Dungeons and Dragons movie from 2000, starring Jeremy Irons.

Speaker 44 So bad. They even have hilarious guests like Seth Rogan, Nicole Beyer, and Adam Scott.
So, what are you waiting for?

Speaker 44 Tune in to How Did This Get Made, the podcast that makes sense out of the movies that don't.

Speaker 1 And now we return to Thresher.

Speaker 1 You find your way up and into the Haven Glow

Speaker 1 Observatory.

Speaker 1 This whole area is flooded.

Speaker 1 So even the Haven Glow Observatory.

Speaker 1 So actually you don't even need to decompress or anything like that. You're able to just open the door to the side.

Speaker 26 So this is all.

Speaker 24 Oh, and if it wasn't obvious already, I've taken my cane and kind of like put it through the belt of the suit just to keep it readily available.

Speaker 1 So you find yourself in this massive observation dome. There's a panoramic view of the abyss.
There is a

Speaker 1 sort of a low hum, sort of almost like the vibrations, you can almost feel it in your suits.

Speaker 1 As you look down and around, it's that same thing where it's kind of covered in all parts of moss and sort of algae and little creatures kind of scuttling in and around some of the circuits and things like that.

Speaker 1 One of the

Speaker 1 positives, if you will, is that as you look down at some of these panels, I think the first thing that you notice is that the mechanics of this is largely analog and seems like it would be either steam operated or through

Speaker 1 like protected cabling so there's still some usage in the like all of the little kind of mechanisms that are down here

Speaker 1 you also see that there does appear to be like a a sort of tube almost that goes in to this room, like a hole in the wall.

Speaker 1 And in the center, it looks like was probably some sort of like pond and/or garden area.

Speaker 1 Almost like that, where that tube is. You can see that there was like water probably flowed out of it, sort of down and then into this area.

Speaker 1 And it does seem like that's the reason why this part of the station is flooded. Like, almost like what, like, that sort of depressurized and filled the whole room, essentially.
Sorry, last thing. Um,

Speaker 1 I will say

Speaker 1 make me a survey roll, please.

Speaker 17 Okay,

Speaker 15 uh, survey, right?

Speaker 17 Yes, please. Okay.

Speaker 1 That's a six. Wow, okay.

Speaker 1 You look down and I think probably instinctively start like looking at some of these dials.

Speaker 1 There is like these two big switches quite far apart and as you kind of click it round you can hear like a sort of almost like the sound of an engine starting and then but you kind of you need to hold it and it's all had that same thing of like turning a key in a car where it kind of like starts to power up or starts to sort of make a whirring noise and then it sort of shuts down.

Speaker 1 And you have to like actively physically hold it there. But with a six,

Speaker 1 you look kind of just out and beyond, you follow the

Speaker 1 line, kind of the cable.

Speaker 1 You know, just ever so often, there is

Speaker 1 the sort of faintest pulse of like light through this cable.

Speaker 1 And I think perhaps if you'll let me,

Speaker 1 adjusting, you know, sort of looking out and maybe sort of uh softening your gaze you know taking a moment to sort of learn the the sort of technique that you were shown earlier you see that faint kind of pulse of energy and you can see just across the way outside there is a cable

Speaker 1 sort of pulsing but it seems to be swaying and disconnected Outside in the water.

Speaker 24 Outside. Do you tell us this?

Speaker 1 Yeah, say like, okay. There's like a cent sort of, just to be very, very clear, it essentially seems to to go

Speaker 1 The cable seems to run down from the observatory There's like a central point where the pulse is coming from and then the other side there is like a loose cable Essentially and you think perhaps that because you also remember there being in the schematics there was like a source of power Yeah, and so is that what I think is out there?

Speaker 1 That's the source of the power and it's been disconnected It looks like it's kind of disconnected, yeah.

Speaker 1 Okay, so I say okay, well, I mean like this is you know, there's an engine here, but there's some sort of power coming, but I can see out there, thanks to our friend Captain Nemo, here the cable is uh it's disconnected so

Speaker 1 I guess I gotta go out there and reconnect it

Speaker 17 is the cable broken or unplugged is the cable damaged pretty hard pretty hard to tell I mean it's still it is still pulsing which means that like sort of power's running through it

Speaker 1 power's running through it but it's hard to tell I mean if it's disconnected it's an easy fix if it's broken I might be able to fix it still I mean I got tools and stuff that I can maybe find you know there's things around here that I can use so I kind of move towards you

Speaker 28 yeah

Speaker 31 better go outside then

Speaker 27 yeah okay

Speaker 24 she's better

Speaker 24 used here if it is something where we simply need to plug it in

Speaker 24 One of us can do that while she runs these controls.

Speaker 1 Okay, so I'll explain. So, okay, so this is how the system works.
You got these two dials.

Speaker 1 They're kind of like engines, you know, like when you turn the key in the car, they both need to be turned at the same time as that pulse is running through.

Speaker 1 So, we need two people to turn these two dials, and somebody needs to go out there and,

Speaker 1 you know, it's like a jumper cable armor.

Speaker 27 I'll go outside and start like making my way towards this light.

Speaker 31 And I kind of radio and I say, I'm telling you, this broke.

Speaker 1 Sure, I'll come out there if it's needing my fixing.

Speaker 24 Okay, I'm going to radio in

Speaker 24 to

Speaker 24 Mr. Adams.
Mr. Adams, whatever took the doctor is still out there.
Please, maybe consider keeping your knife close at hand.

Speaker 1 Knife's out as well. So you're just going out there on your own? Mm-hmm.
Okay. And then the four of you are staying in the

Speaker 28 gloves over here.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I'll take one of the ignitions and I'll say, hey, Val, can you take the other one?

Speaker 20 I can turn a dial. Yeah, that can do.

Speaker 24 I'm going to join Mr. Adams.

Speaker 31 I kind of see you.

Speaker 31 And I stop and I'm like,

Speaker 34 no, no.

Speaker 31 I got this.

Speaker 24 While you are focused on the cable, you will not be able to see whatever is behind you. At least let me watch your back.

Speaker 16 What if it takes you then?

Speaker 24 I don't think that would really upset you.

Speaker 1 So,

Speaker 1 upset the rest of us. We need you to get out of here.
We, you know, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have even seen that thing out there. We need all of us.

Speaker 27 Oh, no.

Speaker 23 As you keep saying

Speaker 31 if he wants to come

Speaker 27 want to be brave,

Speaker 24 Bravery has nothing to do with it if you die out here. I'll have to come out and plug this in anyway.
I'm old. I'm saving myself the trip.

Speaker 24 Jeez.

Speaker 23 He's safe, both of you.

Speaker 34 I swim out and go.

Speaker 1 Would you like to

Speaker 1 like tether? Like, when you dive down in pairs, do that you tether together so it's like if someone gets you know knocked adrift or something, it's like easy for something else.

Speaker 31 Yeah, as he kind of says that and saves him the trip, I kind of go up to you and I tether, and then like a big harness, yeah. And I'm just gonna hold on, gonna use move.

Speaker 16 Oh, no, actually, fuck it, I'm gonna resist it because this is a cool moment,

Speaker 33 mark that's a boy!

Speaker 16 Markets up, yeah, that's it, it's a six, and you just

Speaker 31 with like sheer force, almost just I just move like a like a tornado.

Speaker 27 I pull you with me.

Speaker 34 You like it's it's ridiculous.

Speaker 30 Oh la la.

Speaker 30 You're like Master Blaster.

Speaker 27 This is fantastic.

Speaker 1 I think you, from the outside, watch as these two figures occasionally being illuminated by this pulsing of this cable.

Speaker 1 The sort of glow of it catches these two figures.

Speaker 1 And I think the strangest thing is you see this strong, powerful, kind of, you know, swimmer, big kind of athletic strokes as you're pulling yourself through the water. And then behind,

Speaker 1 you can't help but feel like when you look at Hercule, it's suddenly like this jilted, kind of stumbling man almost seems graceful in the water, like he's suddenly in an element that he is like more attuned with.

Speaker 1 That he's no longer held down by any physical injury or scars.

Speaker 1 You make your way out

Speaker 1 towards this cable.

Speaker 1 As you get there,

Speaker 1 you can see that there is a

Speaker 1 sort of it's about this big, it's quite sort of heavy. And it takes you a little while to like find on the opposite wall where you would sort of plug it in.

Speaker 1 And I think that what you can see is that there is essentially like a mechanism, like a lever on top, that would lock

Speaker 1 that in place. That appears to be broken.

Speaker 38 How's it looking out there?

Speaker 1 And now we're going to enter a cinematic mode. Would you like to go high tide or low tide?

Speaker 27 I think. Low tide? I'm going to go low tide.
Let's go low tide.

Speaker 1 You're going to go low tide? Yeah, I think so. Okay.
So I don't know what's happening.

Speaker 42 So, I'm just going to make a...

Speaker 1 Can I just double-check

Speaker 1 scars for the two of you?

Speaker 33 You all perfectly...

Speaker 24 Oh, no. And one of tide for me.

Speaker 24 That was a lot of dice.

Speaker 30 I don't know if I was dice.

Speaker 1 That was a lot of dice being rolled right there.

Speaker 1 As you're there doing sort of scanning, out, looking,

Speaker 1 you...

Speaker 1 I think have a moment of like clocking and also realizing sort of what's happening.

Speaker 1 And there's the briefest second where you're no longer looking forward and as you your head kind of pivots back around and you look you see

Speaker 27 uh

Speaker 1 a similar kind of taut skinned face but this time behind the uh where sort of the eyes would be you can see these kind of glassy balls kind of staring out huge staring out at you and underneath a kind of flap of skin a mouth with filled with teeth

Speaker 1 crashes into you and you slam against the side of the station and you take three body marks.

Speaker 6 For fuck's sake.

Speaker 16 Does he take me with him? Because we're tethered together.

Speaker 1 You also get pulled.

Speaker 27 Right.

Speaker 31 So...

Speaker 1 And then it's...

Speaker 34 Out.

Speaker 27 Okay.

Speaker 24 So at three body marks, I am, like, shattered.

Speaker 31 I am gonna go to swim towards

Speaker 34 McKeele, and I'm gonna pull him and take him back, essentially.

Speaker 16 We need to get this cable reattached. We need to fix the latch.

Speaker 34 So I kind of, you know, using whatever energy I can to take him back to the

Speaker 25 okay.

Speaker 24 Someone will have to be outside.

Speaker 34 Yes, I know.

Speaker 31 And I'm as he's as he says that I'm unlatching as well.

Speaker 16 So I'm just holding him. Okay.

Speaker 1 Go ahead and give me a move, Rolf.

Speaker 34 I'm gonna drive twice.

Speaker 34 Wow,

Speaker 1 five, five, yeah, mixed success

Speaker 1 as you are going, you are swimming at a furious pace. And I think,

Speaker 1 like, now feeling that weight of like someone else's life in your arms,

Speaker 1 regardless of your opinions of that person, it's still a life. And I think there is an element where you are clutching onto that little bit too tight and you take another body mark.

Speaker 1 As you can, as you're holding him and grasping him, not letting him go, you feel these impossibly strong arms wrapped around you and just there's a few more cracks in there as you drop unconscious and take a scar.

Speaker 24 Gently, gently.

Speaker 1 And

Speaker 1 what is everyone else doing in this cinematic mode? The last thing we heard was that it was broken and they needed fixing. I think you probably heard the slam and then uh

Speaker 1 Emily, you come on this switch. I'm gonna go out there.
No, are you sure? Well, we have to get the power back on.

Speaker 1 And I'm gonna look around and see if I can find something that I can maybe use as a replacement lever and you know, quick weld on to there to replace the lever. I'll use my improvise, my jury rig.

Speaker 1 Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 45 But

Speaker 1 and then, yeah, I'm gonna go out there. We gotta fix it.

Speaker 1 Use a move, then are you two?

Speaker 20 I mean, we're frantically trying to radio them, but I assume they're a little busy to tell us what's going on out there.

Speaker 20 Yeah.

Speaker 23 I was wondering if I could also do a survey check

Speaker 23 or something just for what I might have come across in my research about this place of the observatory.

Speaker 17 Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 23 All right, I'm gonna take a five.

Speaker 1 Okay, take a five.

Speaker 1 So I think with this,

Speaker 1 what you find is that there was one thing that kept on coming up with Atlantech was these

Speaker 1 kept on making reference like holograms and things like that but it needed it needed a source of water and I think as you're kind of looking around connecting things you notice there are these little kind of projectors that seem to be kind of built into the into the actual dome itself and you think that whatever

Speaker 1 water source was in the center perhaps was what was projected onto that there might be some

Speaker 1 either information or something like that that is like a part of this area should you be able to like get it powered back on awesome thanks

Speaker 1 I'd relay that information okay so you're heading back in you're heading out but as so if if I'm

Speaker 31 yeah if I'm seeing

Speaker 16 so the way I kind of do it is I would have brought the um

Speaker 31 like you learn

Speaker 31 probably attached him to either someone or something there.

Speaker 1 Yeah, I mean, you could, yeah, you can attach it to like a metal railing or something on the inside. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 34 And seeing you go out, I would then quickly move back out again to join, knife in hand.

Speaker 1 So you, as this comes back in, you see Hakul kind of

Speaker 1 sort of somewhat limp, maybe sort of starting to come around now,

Speaker 1 sort of be tethered to this thing. The two of you head back out.
I'm going to go ahead and ask everyone to make me their gilded roll to see if you panic

Speaker 45 six five

Speaker 29 five

Speaker 1 do can we get drive back if we choose the gilded die on this yeah yeah yeah great

Speaker 25 six six six

Speaker 1 so five five five five one one okay

Speaker 1 so you two burn through another hour of oxygen

Speaker 1 And her cule, you begin to panic. The panic condition allows you to do a little bit more in your turn.
However, it also means that you automatically go first now.

Speaker 1 You are sort of outside of the high tide, low tide,

Speaker 1 and you will go first and you have some slightly different actions that you can do.

Speaker 1 So

Speaker 1 every

Speaker 1 turn, essentially, every round, every time everyone goes and you remain panicked, you burn through an hour of oxygen.

Speaker 1 What you can do is you can take an action. You can actually take two actions now because you're panicked, so you're acting sort of more quickly than perhaps you normally would.

Speaker 1 You can try to center yourself, which basically means you end your panic.

Speaker 1 You will pick

Speaker 1 a role essentially that associated, something that you would try and do to

Speaker 1 calm yourself, whether it be look at a cherished object, whether it be, you know, try and snap yourself out of it, whatever it is, you can justify any of the roles, essentially.

Speaker 1 But if you fail, you'll burn through another hour of oxygen as your breathing gets heavier and heavier and heavier. Or you can choose to take a selfish action.

Speaker 1 A selfish action could be that you run, you hide, you use an ally

Speaker 1 as a sort of shield, you shut a door behind you, perhaps locking an ally away. If you do that, you will automatically end the panicked condition.

Speaker 1 And you will also take a brain mark if you have any affection towards anyone that might be affected by your action.

Speaker 1 But that won't trigger a controller or anything like that.

Speaker 24 Awesome.

Speaker 24 The scar for body, does that actually mean I need to declare what this scar is and its effects?

Speaker 1 Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.

Speaker 24 So I took crushing, damage, and impact.

Speaker 24 Right?

Speaker 24 So I'm going to say broken ribs. Yeah.

Speaker 24 Can broken ribs further affect oxygen?

Speaker 1 I think so.

Speaker 26 I think that sounds like a fair trade-off, yeah.

Speaker 24 That sounds like fun.

Speaker 1 So, that's a good point, actually. How much oxygen has everyone got left after what's everything that's happened?

Speaker 27 So, four hours?

Speaker 1 Five. Five hours, four hours, four hours.

Speaker 20 I had four, but it's down to three now, isn't it?

Speaker 25 But you, yeah, you just burned through.

Speaker 24 So, I just burned through one as well, so that's three. Three plus, whatever happens with the panic.

Speaker 1 Yes, okay, so we're now back at the top of the round, uh, which means our panicked individual will go first.

Speaker 1 So, if if you end this sort of turn while still panicked, you burn through another hour.

Speaker 28 Right.

Speaker 1 I think as you feel as that crushing weight happened, your eyes open again, and I think there is something about the helmet and almost like the suit itself pressing into you, further restricting your ability to breathe and further to move.

Speaker 1 And I think that that like

Speaker 1 the like breath, I think you're doing all the things that you, you know, you told the doctor to do.

Speaker 1 You were, you know, breathing in for three seconds, out for three seconds, but you can hear the sort of gurgling, cracking, like almost like inside.

Speaker 1 You can hear your bones and lungs struggling with the strain of just breathing. And I think it makes it almost impossible for you to just calm yourself like you normally might do.

Speaker 42 Right.

Speaker 24 So I think

Speaker 24 I know what happens to divers who panic in the black.

Speaker 24 And usually it ends up costing them and their partner. So I'm going to resist that urge as hard as I can.

Speaker 24 I will try to stay on radio

Speaker 24 for me fighting panic is about finding purpose so I put myself to work

Speaker 4 I will

Speaker 27 I will hold my breath

Speaker 24 and keeping the helmet top

Speaker 24 so that the opening is facing down, so any air that is in there is trapped in there. I'm going to unclasp it, release it, and allow water to flood my suit.

Speaker 26 Okay, okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 24 Which also means that I'm going to be watching what is happening outside, essentially trying to provide overwatch.

Speaker 24 Okay.

Speaker 42 For these two.

Speaker 1 How about a survey role, potentially?

Speaker 1 And I'll say that this can be a centering role as well, because you're essentially you've picked something that, you know, you're trying to keep yourself busy and using that as a method to calm yourself down.

Speaker 23 Trust your intuition, and I will burn a drive.

Speaker 21 Love it.

Speaker 1 So you get an extra die. Alright.

Speaker 24 Can I add my own drive?

Speaker 1 Yeah, yeah, yeah. As long as it doesn't exceed six die in your all the dies.

Speaker 1 Six.

Speaker 27 Six.

Speaker 27 I just saw one.

Speaker 11 You know, my six.

Speaker 33 It's one, two, one.

Speaker 25 I had the opposite.

Speaker 1 I saw the six.

Speaker 27 I was like, oh, thank god.

Speaker 1 You

Speaker 1 feel as the water fills into your suit,

Speaker 1 that pressure on your chest just suddenly starts to alleviate, and it almost feels like you're sinking then into a bath.

Speaker 1 And you feel your heart rate start to slow.

Speaker 1 You know now that you have a sort of task of putting the helmet back on and probably having to seal it around your neck in order to stop the air from flowing out,

Speaker 1 but you have ended the panic condition.

Speaker 1 I will also allow

Speaker 1 either of these do to add an extra die as a part of you kind of keeping a watchful eye on them. You can sort of be giving them some radio messages, essentially.

Speaker 25 Okay,

Speaker 1 so the remaining four of us will be high-tide or low-tide?

Speaker 1 High, right? Yeah,

Speaker 1 high, we've got to get somewhere. We have a conflict here because I would also like to go high tide.

Speaker 26 So, how about we go ahead and make a roll?

Speaker 1 I'll do it here.

Speaker 27 Ready?

Speaker 26 That's a six for me.

Speaker 42 Okay.

Speaker 1 So,

Speaker 1 you move

Speaker 1 back out into the inky blackness.

Speaker 1 Who is ahead?

Speaker 34 I am.

Speaker 16 You are ahead. Okay.

Speaker 27 Sure.

Speaker 1 You move.

Speaker 1 Do you move? Are you moving kind of quickly?

Speaker 27 Yeah.

Speaker 26 And when I say I'm ahead, I mean like

Speaker 35 just ahead.

Speaker 16 We're still together. Sure.

Speaker 1 You, I think, can hear the distance sort of a distant clicking.

Speaker 1 And the strange thing is it's like

Speaker 1 one side.

Speaker 1 Another side.

Speaker 1 Above.

Speaker 30 Clever girl.

Speaker 30 Okay.

Speaker 1 Can you mark two body marks, please? As you feel something puncture your suit,

Speaker 1 you feel

Speaker 1 blood start to leak out of the side as water is starting to fill up your suit.

Speaker 1 You can essentially do a similar thing where you compartmentalize, however, you are going to lose an hour of oxygen as your suit is punctured.

Speaker 1 Okay, cool.

Speaker 1 I don't even, again, it's so quick, I don't even think you see any of this happening. I am focused, I'm trying to get to the connector as quickly as possible.

Speaker 31 Yeah, as I feel that, a surge of adrenaline hits me as I get

Speaker 16 a drive point back.

Speaker 27 Love it. At

Speaker 34 my nerve.

Speaker 26 Great.

Speaker 1 That's that.

Speaker 1 Which of you would like to act first as you're trying to?

Speaker 1 Okay, yeah, I'm going straight to the face. So you're fixing a new kind of...
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 So let's go ahead and

Speaker 1 was it sense or focus? You said sense to me. Sense, yeah.
Cool. Absolutely spending both drives on this.

Speaker 1 Is my guild that die as well? Oh, I'm going to burn my resistance to re-roll that because that was off. Okay, okay.
That is

Speaker 1 really bad. I mean, there's a success with cost, but it was, you know.

Speaker 11 Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 31 You can only now roll your points you you're willing to spend driving around.

Speaker 30 That's right.

Speaker 24 Oh, yeah.

Speaker 16 Still

Speaker 11 five.

Speaker 1 Five? It's not my Gilded Die, but it's a five. Okay.

Speaker 1 So five. Still a success with a.
With a cost. Yeah, with a cost.

Speaker 1 You

Speaker 1 act so fast in trying to get this sort of thing

Speaker 1 on,

Speaker 1 and you come in straight away to sort of jam this thing in. And as it happens, you

Speaker 1 like like the mechanism essentially for locking it in place.

Speaker 1 Your hand is still on it as you ram it into the side of this thing, turning it on, and your hand gets crushed into

Speaker 1 the mechanism, and you have to literally pull it free and you take a body scar

Speaker 27 scar.

Speaker 28 Okay,

Speaker 28 so

Speaker 1 as this happens, you see it's connected, you turn,

Speaker 1 you hear this sound, it's almost like a thunderous noise

Speaker 1 as from the Haven Glow Observatory and the surrounding buildings, engines and machines start whirring and clanking into place

Speaker 42 as

Speaker 1 slowly, one by one,

Speaker 1 Buildings surrounding Rambior suddenly light up,

Speaker 1 brilliantly casting light across this otherwise pitch-black

Speaker 1 and strange

Speaker 1 station.

Speaker 1 Injured.

Speaker 42 Very injured.

Speaker 1 You see now.

Speaker 1 This creature.

Speaker 1 Now there is a one above you. That sort of sheet of skin seems to have disappeared.
There is no sheet of skin on this one.

Speaker 1 As you can see these giant bulbous fish-like eyes kind of turning down to look towards you.

Speaker 1 And that is where we're going to end this episode of Fresh Us.

Speaker 1 Oh,

Speaker 1 wow, wow, wow. That was absolutely amazing.
Thank you so much to my incredible players.

Speaker 27 There's so much.

Speaker 1 We are going to go and do a little.

Speaker 42 Well, I think we should probably do a little cooldown after that.

Speaker 1 What do you think?

Speaker 4 Maybe we do a little cooldown.

Speaker 42 I think that'll be nice.
