Speaker 1
Guys, we're so excited to be answering your fashion questions today. It's my favorite thing to do, and we're doing it with Depop, the home of circular fashion.
I'm literally scrolling right now.
Speaker 1
Some influencers have been on it. I saw that.
You get to make money off the stuff that you don't wear, and when it's really stylish, you can have another girl work it and style it in her own way.
Speaker 1 And I love how, based on what I click on, they kind of decide what I might like. Yeah, it gives you like suggestions of other things.
Speaker 1
Yeah, it's a lot of colored shirts, blazers, and polos polos for me right now. Ooh, that's cute.
And Depop is where taste recognizes taste.
Speaker 1 We're actually both wearing pieces from Depop right now, your deconstructed skirt. And then this is like a little blazer.
Speaker 1
Oh, your deconstructed shirt. Sorry.
I was like, wait, am I wearing a skirt? And then I'm wearing this little like blazer dress that has like buttons on the side, but it actually
Speaker 1
made it more like blazer than dress. You love a button.
I do. Yeah.
Well, they're secure. You can rely on them.
Speaker 1
Much more than a men. They're not going to lie to you.
Yeah.
Speaker 1
They're not going to go through your phone. They do what they say they will.
Yep. And based on your outfit, it's perfect because we are doing some workwear questions and even some menswear questions.
Speaker 1 Well, one of my favorite things about fashion is being like a little bit more masculine,
Speaker 1 dressing.
Speaker 1
Yes. Like I like an oversized blazer with like an oversized pant about.
I love when you dress oversized. We like to play with the masculine and feminine.
Yes.
Speaker 1
Also, I'm wearing like a Packers t-shirt that was like deconstructed. I don't know.
That's what they say about food. You love anything deconstructed.
Speaker 1
I love anything deconstructed, but like a cheeseburger, a t-shirt. Either or.
I'm so excited. I love getting the fashion takes.
But gigglers are fashionable. Yeah.
And there's a spectrum. Yep.
Speaker 1
And they always have an interesting problem that goes along with said fashion question. It gets a little dicey here.
It gets specific. Yeah.
With that said, let's get into it.
Speaker 2
Hi, Hannah. Hi, Paige.
Long time listener, first time caller. So I know we're seeing a lot of like tailoring and suiting on the runways right now.
Speaker 2 And I'm very much into this like menswear as women's wear trend.
Speaker 1 But how are the fashion girlies hopping on this?
Speaker 2 Are we doing blazers? Are we doing, I mean, obviously Hannah's a trailblazer with the ties, but I feel like I'm so close, but I don't really know how to make it a fit. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1
So appreciate your help. I did ties first.
I just want to point that out. She's steaming from her ears.
I did ties first.
Speaker 1
Okay. It was a Valentino tie.
I wore it with a Valentino skirt, BravoCon, two years ago. Fuck it.
It's only been two years. It feels like a decade ago.
I wish.
Speaker 1
Can I say something about what she said, though? Yeah. Her worry is so valid because there's something about a blazer that...
makes me scared I'm gonna look like a millennial going out.
Speaker 1
Do you remember when we'd go out just wearing blazers? Like a fitted blazer? Yeah, like to the club. Like, I just don't ever want to look like a Karen or like a Mott.
I get what you're saying.
Speaker 1 So how do I make a blazer chic?
Speaker 1 Okay, well, I think what she's referring to on like the runway with workwear, it was very YSL is like the brand that does suiting the best.
Speaker 1 And they typically do match like an oversized blazer with a matching pan. I think oversized blazers are, I don't find them to be millennial at all, but I am a millennial.
Speaker 1
You have to go oversized. Yeah, you're going oversized.
You just have to make sure the fit is what you like.
Speaker 1 So, like, yes, there are girls that are wearing super oversized pants, but you could also do like a more fitted pant. You can also do like a cigarette pant that's like kind of like a capri.
Speaker 1 I actually have a pair of leather capries that I'm like really loving, and I wore it with an oversized blazer the other night to dinner. With what shoe?
Speaker 1
I did a kitten heel. Thank God.
I thought
Speaker 1 I was actually gonna like call the police. I'm like, where's Penny?
Speaker 1 I do have to say, one thing about these fashion
Speaker 1 call-ins, which is cool, is that me and you also have different body types.
Speaker 1
I'm bottom heavy. You're just not heavy.
So
Speaker 1
I like to show my waist because I could look very squarish. Yep.
So I like to add a belt to an oversized blazer. But remember belts like five years were like not good.
Speaker 1 Like five years ago, if you wore a belt, it was like chooky. Yeah.
Speaker 1 Where now belts are so in well i think you can do a belt on the pant which that will like since show that you're the difference between your waist and your like your top and your bottom but like ysl was doing it very literally like they were doing white button-ups with belts and like actual just like suiting you can also do like pencil skirts
Speaker 1 yes pencil skirts and like an oversized blazer and then like long leather gloves are really in yes so that's like a way to make it let's bring in like when you have a blazer putting a sweater over it.
Speaker 1
Actually, that's a good idea. A sweater over your shoulders.
Yes. If you want to go full preppy generational wealth, but wearing, you know, a button up all the way to the top with a tie.
Speaker 1
Like, I think, like, go full into it. Don't be afraid to go full 100% business.
Yeah. And then do your hair in like a sexy way.
Yeah, like a Pamela updo or a tussled, messy wave.
Speaker 1 Tussle.
Speaker 1
Tossled. I think the word you were looking for, but yes.
Grace, next question.
Speaker 3 Ladies, I'm grabbing dinner with two of my girlfriends, and constantly I feel like they're looking chic, interesting, variety, and I am constantly wearing pants in a cable net sweater.
Speaker 3
Pants on a cable knit sweater. Pants in a cable net sweater.
What do you need the men in your life to be wearing to complement your look, to elevate themselves, and just bring the right vibe?
Speaker 1
Pants and a cable net sweater. All I want is my men to wear pants and a cable knit sweater.
He's perfect. But I'm like bopping to that, the satin cable knit sweater.
Pants and a cable.
Speaker 1 Cable knit sweater.
Speaker 1 I'm a big, what am I a big fan of that men wear?
Speaker 1 Vulnerability.
Speaker 1 Listening. Their listening ears.
Speaker 1 I think men should wear more bombers. Wait, that's so crazy because I was about to say I don't want them in bombers.
Speaker 1
I feel like bombers are too try-hard. Well, because here's the thing.
When I think of like, what's my ideal man wearing, jeans and a t-shirt.
Speaker 1 Yeah, gay men can wear bombers because I know it's their choice.
Speaker 1
When a straight man does it, it's like someone cooked here. Okay, here's one thing I want to tell him.
So they're modernizing, they're redoing the rugby.
Speaker 1
Yo, so like you're gonna, you're seeing like a lot of collared shirts that have like four buttons. You're buttoning all those buttons up and it's like a sweater.
You're tucking it in.
Speaker 1 That's like a different play on a sweater. Yeah.
Speaker 1
So like horizontal stripes are really big, like a traditional rugby, but you can also do like a cashmere rugby. What about a cardigan? Love a cardigan.
I could see him in a cardigan.
Speaker 1
Just like a t-shirt and an oversized cardigan. Yes.
And then, like, a fun jacket and a scarf, and it's like boom, boom, boom, layer, layer, layer. Let's have fun with scarves.
Speaker 1 I like when men wear scarves, especially gay men.
Speaker 1 I hate when a straight man does a scarf.
Speaker 1 Yeah, I'm like, you're probably going to strangle someone with a time.
Speaker 1 You don't need a weapon.
Speaker 1
You don't need a weapon. Sure.
Have a cold neck. Unless you're blindfolding me,
Speaker 1 then I'm into it.
Speaker 1 I don't want to see.
Speaker 1 Okay, so I'm,
Speaker 1
I think he'll be okay. What about a leather jacket? I'm just, I'm weary of a leather jacket on a man.
Are you weary of a leather jacket because you're afraid they'll just go full Danny Zucco?
Speaker 1
I think a leather jacket holds too much power for a man. It's like, unless you're in a full biker gang, which is on its own problematic.
Or you live in France. It's not Braille.
It's not Braille.
Speaker 4 All right, stirrup leggings.
Speaker 1 Are they chic or giving horse girl?
Speaker 4 I bought a pair and wore them with heels and a long sweater. What's the chicest way to style them, if at all?
Speaker 1 What's a stirrup legging?
Speaker 1 I'm obsessed, one, that Chris read it. Two, that you're so like unbeknownst to me, what a stirrup legging is.
Speaker 1
I love it. A stirrup legging is when it has like the foot thing that goes around your foot.
Let me show you a picture of a stirrup. Oh, so it doesn't go around your toes.
Speaker 1 No, like you wear it with like a ballet flat. Yeah.
Speaker 1
Or that's like an 80s aerobics thing. Yeah.
Okay. Yes.
Okay. Okay.
Speaker 1 I personally would wear it with a ballet flat
Speaker 1 or with a um
Speaker 1 would I do a full pump with it? A pump might be like two eighties.
Speaker 1
I would say like a kitten heel. The molecules in your brain are working so hard right now.
They're working overtime because I'm like, there is a world where there is a pump that you could use.
Speaker 1 Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 The good news is with a lot of this trendy stuff, I love to find them on Depop because you get them at an affordable price.
Speaker 1
Also, there's trendy stuff that people bought, then decided I'm not into this trend. Yes.
And you'll find it there. So I like to buy stuff on Depop that's trendy.
Speaker 1
Okay, that's actually so perfect because it's like, yeah, stirrups were trendy at some point. They've come back.
They're recycling, which means they are going to go out.
Speaker 1
So you don't have to spend a lot of money on them. And D-pop is perfect for a stirrup.
And also, D-pop is perfect for an oversized sweater, like she said, she styled it with.
Speaker 1
I think that's how I would also stir up. What colors would you get? I would do all black.
See, because I'm afraid if I did like a green, I would look like Peter Pan.
Speaker 1 Yeah, I think it's something that like you're doing you're
Speaker 1
it's a legging. You're treating it as a legging.
So, if you're wearing black and you wear black leggings, you do like a different colored sweater if you want, or all black.
Speaker 1 I'd either do an oversized sweater, or I would do like a waistline, like black bomber, or like a waistline jacket.
Speaker 1 Sorry, I'm just crying because I envisioned you running in with stirrups, going, Are these the audition for Pippin?
Speaker 1 I love stirrup leggings. Can you say it? I'm sorry, is this the audition for Pippin?
Speaker 1 Does Pippin wear red stirrups? I don't even know what that musical was.
Speaker 1
All I'm capable of right now. Also, one of my favorite things about Depop is like it's winter.
So you know there's like a couple things that you're like, wow, I need all new sweaters.
Speaker 1 I need all new like jackets.
Speaker 1 Depop has such a good selection of sweaters because I feel like that's that one thing that you're like, I wore this sweater all last year. I can't wear it again this winter.
Speaker 1 Like I gotta get rid of it. Sell it on Depop.
Speaker 1 Sell it on Depop.
Speaker 1 You always need new turtlenecks each season.
Speaker 1
So go crazy. I love a gay man in a turtleneck.
I don't like a straight man in a turtleneck. And I will not be explaining further.
And that is what she's running on. There's also no seller fees.
Speaker 1 I've tried to sell stuff in the past where I'm like, did I lose money from this interaction? I love that Depop has no seller fees.
Speaker 1
They make it so easy and the app is so curated for people to find your stuff. Hey, Paige.
Hey, Hannah. It's MC.
Speaker 1 I noticed a lot of peep toe shoes shown on the runway at Fashion Week. I was wondering if y'all think they're coming back.
Speaker 1 Are we wearing our dogs out to the office i'm worried i'm concerned i feel sick please let me know
Speaker 1 wait i love her voice peep toes are so back and i'm so here for it can you define peep toe for me so because she lost me when okay you know when you put your foot into a pump and you don't see your toes because it's either it's like a pointy toe yeah peep toe it has like that little hole where you can see like the first one.
Speaker 1
Like right where my toes are becoming like numb. Yes, like the first two toes you can see them.
They're back. Well, back to like our stirrup leggings.
You could wear them with those.
Speaker 1
I personally think they're more of a summer shoe. Yeah.
Like I think you're going to see it more. Like I started wearing them at the end of this summer.
Speaker 1
I think you're going to see them more like spring into summer. But yes, peep toes are back.
I'd like a peep toe because sometimes I don't like all my toes showing.
Speaker 1
Yes. Yeah.
Like you're like, oh, cover up. You're sorry.
A little bit of a prude. Like, let's start slow with a little peep toe.
Speaker 1 I like that. But her question is, are you wearing them to the office?
Speaker 1 I don't know what your office vibe is.
Speaker 1 We're not allowed in offices. I would advise maybe
Speaker 1 no.
Speaker 1 Because unless like in the summer, if you go to your office and you wear like open-toe shoes, then okay. It's just like, I don't know.
Speaker 1
I don't know. Yeah, I've think.
I think if you're wearing like a flare pant, you can wear them, but maybe it's not like the whole main show. Oh my God.
Quick story.
Speaker 1
There was a girl in a good flare pant in Soho, and I wish I could have a lot of fun. There's nothing I know more than a girl in a good flare pant.
It looked so because it was like a statement.
Speaker 1
And she was standing there, like taking a picture of herself. And I was like, okay, like she clearly likes her outfit.
And I just decided to be like so thoughtful and nice and give her a compliment.
Speaker 1 And I said,
Speaker 1
I said, I love your pants. And she just looked at me and said, thanks.
And I was like, well, I'm never complimenting anyone again. Yeah.
That's sad.
Speaker 1
If a girl, and this is the thing, yeah, she said thanks. But if a girl doesn't look at me and say, oh my God, thank you.
That's the nicest thing you ever said. Where do you want?
Speaker 1
Like, then, now I'm like, I'm going to fight with this girl. I'm like, I actually take it back.
Actually, take it back.
Speaker 1
But anyway, there are good flare pants on D-pop that I'm probably gonna get. Thank you, D-pop, for making this hotline bonus episode possible.
We love giving the gigglers advice.
