Speaker 2
7 a.m. PT, 8 a.m.
MT.
Speaker 2 Here we go now. Mountain girl.
Speaker 2 Mountain girl. So apparently, if you see one of the Salt Lake City housewives in Park City at Sundance, it's like
Speaker 2
not a big deal. And I don't understand.
So what? Why isn't everyone shouting, throwing roses at these women wherever they go?
Speaker 2
Oh my God, I was gagged. Talk about this.
The one and only couple, Seth and Meredith Marks. Oh, my God.
Showed up to the wedding banquet after party. Stop.
Looking stunning, the both both of them yes
Speaker 2 there was a lion dance a traditional lion dance with you know I'm gonna say gorgeous white people perhaps they were Mormons I love potential Mormons doing the lion dance in front of a crowd the lion dance so so you're not saying lion dance in like a fun way you're saying lion dance like l-i-o-n dance there was a traditional dance in chinese culture and some asian cultures where people dress in a traditional sequined lion costume and dance to loud cymbals and drums.
Speaker 2 Oh,
Speaker 2
producer Becca says, I love a traditional lion dance. She's familiar with the lion dance.
Okay, and the Marxes joined in.
Speaker 2 The Marxes appreciated the lion dance, but Seth, this is someone who likes bits. Seth taps me on the shoulder, holds up his phone that's Shazamming, and he goes, I don't know what this song is.
Speaker 2
And my Shazam doesn't know. He's a goofaloofah.
One of the great goofaloofas. Sometimes it gets him in trouble on the program.
It gets him in trouble on the program, but we all know it's ingest.
Speaker 2
And Meredith looking wonderful, having a great time. Meredith, I want to use the platform to apologize.
She invited me to the store. She was throwing a party that night, but I got, guess what?
Speaker 2
Overserved. Could not make it.
Were you overserved? I was overserved, but not in like a bad way.
Speaker 2
You can hear from my voice. You were just like, it's time to cap it.
I capped it. I capped it at five.
Oh, my God. One of our third third AD on set, a woman by the name of Nicola,
Speaker 2
and I stand a woman named Nicola. I love, and especially third AD.
Third AD, she was bringing us to the bar to get shots. And here we go.
It just, that's, that's the recipe for Zisaster.
Speaker 2 It was a Zizaster scene.
Speaker 2
Actually, your title of Ep, Zysaster. Disaster Z.
Disaster with a Z. Yes.
Z in the middle. That's who.
That's who.
Speaker 2
The best part. The best part of any party with the crew after you do anything is finding out who that girl is.
That's like, we're doing shots. And
Speaker 2 more than often, it is someone on the AD team. Now, can you explain for all the readers, Katie's Publicist, Final List and Kyle? Yes, of course.
Speaker 2 Who the. That was the first time that that happened, by the way.
Speaker 2
Welcome, Kyle's. I embrace you.
A couple people have come up to me at, yes, you guessed it, Barry to self-identify as a Kyle's. And that is where the happy place for them to be.
Speaker 2
Luckily story. We got to get a new shirt done, says Becca.
I agree. Maybe a jersey.
Okay, so, but explain to the girls what an AD is and why they might want to blow off such theme.
Speaker 2 An assistant director, vital part of any set. First AD is usually on set calling action, you know, kind of logistically moving the day along.
Speaker 2
Second AD is at base camp or as they say in Vancouver, circus. Oh.
Which I kind of love. Very Brittany.
All eyes on the talent. All eyes on Nicola.
Speaker 2
And Nicola is third AD, which also means she's in a circus capacity. She's a circus queen.
Yes. So she's on foot at the circus.
She's on foot on the tightrope. Yeah.
Speaker 2 So basically for this person to be like, we're doing shots, understand
Speaker 2 their job the entire process, as long as to keep things on time, get people where they're going. It is all about making the day.
Speaker 2 And so for those people at the whatever gathering, whatever party, whether it's it's at the sundance as ast the scene or some sort of rap situation to see that person let off steam and go for it and say we're going to the bar ripping shots i not only celebrate them but i join them in a shot and i raise my glass now matt you would be obsessed with this let's give a toast to nicola a morning toast to nicola to the third ad on the wedding banquet thank you for getting the party going last night i wasn't there but i was always there in spirit i'm always where my sister is right by by his side as a ghost.
Speaker 2
Oh my god, I'm crying. You are with me in all ways.
I was missing you. But one last thing about Nicola,
Speaker 2 she was such an important third AD because she would have,
Speaker 2 especially on the night shoots, she had either Britney Spears, speaking to Brittany, either Britney playing or biggest Swifty on set
Speaker 2
always was Blasting Taylor. There we go.
To you. To Nicola.
To you, Nicola. A name of a Swifty, if I've ever heard one.
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 Now, Matt, what are you doing to gear up for a big trip that we're taking together?
Speaker 2 Well, first of all, I want to talk about that, but can we just, because we're in the disaster scene of Sundance, can I just say that the wedding banquet's reviews are out? They are extremely positive.
Speaker 2
Everyone's saying such gorgeous things like heartwarming. They're saying excellent ensemble.
They're saying Yoo Jung Yun is like another standout performance.
Speaker 2
They're saying the words Joan Chen like they should have been saying on Oscar nominations morning. Still have a bone to pick with you about that.
You can speak in Joan Chen's name there.
Speaker 2
But they're saying these things. Yes.
And I just want to know from you, how did it feel watching the movie The Wedding Banquet, directed by Andrew Ahn, Friend of the Pod, director of Fire Island?
Speaker 2 How are you feeling in the dance?
Speaker 2
I feel so lucky. First of all, we are very lucky.
We have distribution already.
Speaker 2
April 18th in theaters. Get going.
Come on, Blaker Street. Come on, Blaker Street.
Thank you. Come on, Shiv Hans.
Yes. But it's just nice to, you know, come in with that.
Speaker 2
And what a beautiful celebration of Andrew's talent as a filmmaker of all the crew. So many of them flew out for this.
It was so nice to see them again.
Speaker 2
Beautiful celebration of Kelly Marie Tran, who fucking toured a force. That's what they're saying.
I'm so happy for her. Oh, my God.
Just you fucking wait, Matt. Just you fucking wait.
Speaker 2 Hangi Chan, who plays my boyfriend, his first English-speaking role, his first time in the States. He is
Speaker 2
a glass-skinned baby. He is so gorgeous and so wonderful as a performer.
Just a great, I love an ensemble. I love an ensemble.
Can I just say? Me too.
Speaker 2 And Joong Chan, Ya Jung Yun, I mean, they are the standouts in the film by far. And I'm so honored that I got to work with any of these people that I just named.
Speaker 2
And it was just such a beautiful thing for Andrew. He got the idea for the movie.
I mean, he was approached to reimagine the movie at Sundance when he was there. It was Spa Night, his first film.
Wow.
Speaker 2
So it's so full circle in so many ways. And everyone at the fest, at the dance, I should say, at the Zasta scene has been so, so, so warm and welcoming and kind of a fun.
I'm glad.
Speaker 2 I'm really grateful that I get to experience Park City Sundance before it moves to another city. Do we think that's definitely happening? So among the trustees,
Speaker 2 the board,
Speaker 2 the candidate cities are kind of whittling down to
Speaker 2
this is the scuttlebutt. So this is just the scuttlebutt.
There's no revelations happening here. No revelations.
I have to say, I'm so disappointed that Park City is going to lose it.
Speaker 2 It's, who knows? It might not. Okay, what's the scuttlebutt? What's the rumors? Scuttlebutt is Salt Lake City.
Speaker 2 Oh. Just, you know, 15 miles away, but in a more sort of
Speaker 2
a little bit more infrastructure to support the size of the scale of the festival. Totally.
And then you could hop in a car and go to the ski lift and walk around Park City.
Speaker 2 I'm sure Park City, because that might be a really nice option because Park City still, it doesn't totally strip the economy away from Park City.
Speaker 2 Well, and also you could still use Park City as some of
Speaker 2 those theaters and like, you know, maybe it wouldn't have to feel completely different.
Speaker 2 You know, it could be just like, because it is, I would, I would imagine that the reason they're moving is because it's demanding a larger space. Is that ultimately why? Okay.
Speaker 2 So you're saying Salt Lake City. Which I think is my, weirdly, my favorite option.
Speaker 2 And then you have
Speaker 2 Cincinnati, which I think is actually kind of chic. And this is what James Shama is, co-writer of the wedding banquet, original film and the new film.
Speaker 2 And he's the one who just, I've been, I've quoted on this podcast many times before, has all these incredible thoughts about the way that like algorithmic structures have ruined society. Oh my God.
Speaker 2
I need some shots brought over to us as well. Oh, with James.
James is a big proponent of Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 He's like, bring it to a city in the Midwest or somewhere where there's just a great cross-section of all these different populations, bring different audiences in to appreciate this kind of film.
Speaker 2
Like that is what, that is what Sundance should be as like a home for independent film. And I was like, okay, points were made.
Yeah, that is interesting.
Speaker 2
And then the third, which I find super interesting as a Coloradan, Boulder. Boulder would be very fun.
Boulder.
Speaker 2 Keep the vibes of where we've always been. Mountain vibes.
Speaker 2
Now is Boulder Mountain Time? Yes, it is. It is.
Oh, a gorgeous mountain time. I wouldn't want Sundance to not be in the the mountain time region.
Of course, of course.
Speaker 2
Sundance is so huge for mountain time. It's the one time of year people even think about mountain time if you're not living in it already.
You're like, like we had to get on this podcast today.
Speaker 2 And I was like, well, Bowen is, let me, Trex notes, 8 a.m. mountain time.
Speaker 2 Girl, well, okay, so you're saying it's the one time of year where people think about mountain time. It's a huge moment for mountain time internationally.
Speaker 2 What do you have to say?
Speaker 2 Oh, I see. Because
Speaker 2
guess what? Aspen Gay Ski Week, we're all like, oh, right, that's happening and you're there. Awesome.
Which no judgment, because I would very much like to go one year,
Speaker 2
but it doesn't have quite the cultural impact. It doesn't give Mountain Time the sort of legitimacy culturally as Sundance does.
No, Sundance is, that's high culture. High culture.
Speaker 2 It brings Mountain Time up with it because the rest of the year, Mountain Time is in the doldrums with the Housewives of Salt Lake City. Think about this.
Speaker 2 Everything you see on the Housewives of Salt Lake City that's not a vacation is happening in mountain time.
Speaker 2
That's why it's so good. You're on to something.
Think about it. Think about the elevation in those women's brains.
Like, I'm telling you.
Speaker 2
I mean, if we're going to quote Sarah Sherman's brain scientist neighbor, we're closer to the ozone here. And so we're going crazier.
Exactly.
Speaker 2
Oh, just to get back on Meredith. Yes.
I was like, first of all, congratulations on another stellar season.
Speaker 2 I looked both of them in the eye and said, thank you for being on the best show on television, period. Yes.
Speaker 2
What did they say? They received it. They received it.
Such gracious people.
Speaker 2 And I said to Meredith, how do you feel about the season overall? And she says, I liked it. I'm really happy with it.
Speaker 2 The finale was a bit truncated.
Speaker 2 She was like, I had issues with the finale. And I was like, oh, she was just like, it just felt a little,
Speaker 2
it did feel like it ended on such an abrupt note. So she agrees with us.
She agrees
Speaker 2
with the fan community. Yes, yes, yes.
And I didn't want to bring up, like,
Speaker 2 how do I move forward in this life? How do you and I move forward in this life as equal Meredith Marks and Angie Katsanavis stands? Very easily.
Speaker 2 I think very easily, because it's like we said to Angie, it's like the one feeds the other.
Speaker 2
And the bigger one gets, the bigger the other gets. It's a gorgeous symbiotic relationship.
It's like if the substance was incredibly positive.
Speaker 2 That's what
Speaker 2 Meredith Market Marks 77.
Speaker 2
Meredith Marks and Anthony Keshanevis is if the substance were incredibly positive. Incredibly positive.
Positive. Positive.
Speaker 2
No, it's good. They get it.
It's incredibly positive.
Speaker 2 No, I was going to say, guess what? The Joker movies are just as big as the Batman movies. Say that.
Speaker 2
And those are two adversaries locked in a cosmic dance. Yes, 100%.
And I'm not even ascribing one Joker and one Batman because that would be a no-the hero and a villain. But here's what I would posit.
Speaker 2
Maybe both are anti-heroes. Okay, that's the whole thing about Batman.
And you forgot it. And I'm pointing to you, the royal you.
Speaker 2 I am saying you forgot that the Batman was an anti-hero vigilante story.
Speaker 2 Because guess what? Sure, he saves lives and beats the villains, but you know what? He's the billionaire. Evil.
Speaker 2 Girl, you ate bars. Bars.
Speaker 2
Bars. Okay, you see Meredith Marks.
You didn't make it to
Speaker 2 her store. By the way, I'm telling you, I've been a couple times because I went to Sunin's a few years ago.
Speaker 2
I made it up top of my priority list to get into Meredith Marks' shop, and it's a lovely experience. Next time, top of list for you.
Yes.
Speaker 2 Maybe we'll go together someday and we'll sort of storm in there.
Speaker 2
Oh, but if it moves, I hope it doesn't move. but maybe it has to move.
Next year's the last year, um,
Speaker 2 Matt and I would love to show up in any capacity just to watch the films, to hang out at the Acura Energy House, you know, to chill at the Adobe. I love the names of the house.
Speaker 2 I love like the Chase Sapphire,
Speaker 2
you know, fire pit. Fire pit.
Yeah, like, I love it. I love like American Express hot chocolate bar.
Like, truly.
Speaker 2 And that's what you're going to get when you go to Sundance: you're going to get a lot of incredibly sponsored, quaint activities. Activations down.
Speaker 2
Yeah, activations down. Hold on my hotel phone's ringing.
One second. Oh, pick it up.
Hello.
Speaker 2 Good. How are you?
Speaker 2 Sounds positive so far.
Speaker 2
That would be wonderful. Thank you so much.
And then I'm so sorry. I'm in the middle of recording a podcast, but if you could leave it at the door, that would be wonderful.
Oh, this is good.
Speaker 2 Thank you so much.
Speaker 2
Yes, that would be great. He's so good at handling stuff like this.
Thank you so much, bye-bye. You too.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 Okay, we're going to leave that all in. Yeah, no, that was really good because I was sort of narrating to the readers like exactly how well you're a communicator.
Speaker 2 How would you rate that interaction? That was a 10 out of 10. Really?
Speaker 2
I love the dulcet tones that you spoke in. Thank you.
And I am recording a podcast. So if you could leave it outside the door.
Thank you so much. It's a little early.
And so I'm not like totally on.
Speaker 2 I don't know how to interact with the world yet. You were giving Selena Gomez wrapped in the blanket asking for, for, you know what I mean, that meme.
Speaker 2
That's actually the best meme. Selena Gomez wrapped in like, what is that, like an Adirondack blanket? Yes, just a gorgeous big knit.
The best one that, because it was like, this is me when I,
Speaker 2
the best was when I calmly asked the flight attendant for a ginger ale after waking up on the plane. It was Sydney Battle's tweet, and it's one of the best tweets of all time.
In a clear, calm voice.
Speaker 2
Yeah, this is it. Sydney Battle's tweet.
Me rising from my edible coma to ask the flight attendant for a ginger ale in a clear, considerate voice that conveys gratefulness and respect.
Speaker 2 Did Becca just in the middle of it? Yep, Becca just put it in. There it is.
Speaker 2 Honestly, this picture of her and us
Speaker 2 is the image for this episode.
Speaker 2
This is exactly the vibe right now. Oh, yeah.
This is Selena. wrapped in this blanket and then us with our heads wrapped in this blanket.
Tell Spencer.
Speaker 2
Who, by the way, people have been asking about who's been crushing our graphic design. It has not been the very busy Boen Yang.
It has been Spencer. Also very busy.
Speaker 2 Not that Bo and Yang couldn't also tear down these graphic designs, but we have been
Speaker 2
pressed by the team. Crushing, truly.
Now, so you saw Meredith Marks. Were there any other housewives sightings? There were many sightings.
Lisa Barlow was...
Speaker 2
I will reveal. Queen of Sundance.
The Queen of Sundance. There's a Vita Tequila Lounge that he was not able to make it to.
Speaker 2 One of our producers ran into Lisa with his husband, and they were so excited to see they're like lisa barlow we're such huge fans it's so nice to meet you first thing she says to them is hi guys oh my god what do you guys think of bronwin
Speaker 2 out the gate is asking about bronwin i think we have to leave that in we have to leave hi guys oh my god what do you guys think about bronwin like already i mean this is just remarkable it's like this is what i this is what i tend to forget about housewives honestly is like this is their real lives yeah yeah it's not it's not as put on as we would like to as i am inclined to believe i mean i was watching and i was watching an interview with bozema last night who by the way i've grown to really like i like bozema i love and i i think it's like really really she brings so much to the show and also heartbreaking her home
Speaker 2 burnt down in the fire
Speaker 2 yes
Speaker 2 so all the best to anyone who's still struggling by the way like damn but i was watching an interview with her and she was like you know i I did it because X, Y, Z reasons.
Speaker 2 And then she was like, my one thing was I really didn't realize it was going to be so real, but the relationships are very real.
Speaker 2 And sure, the show is produced in terms of like, they nudge you in terms of things to bring up or whatever.
Speaker 2 But the stuff that like all goes into the conflict for the episodes is real and all based in real stuff. And when you are arguing with someone, that's a real argument.
Speaker 2 It's not like you get off screen and high five and are like,
Speaker 2 you know, tee, hee, hee, we really ate that scene. It's, it's like, oh, we just had an actual conflict that was captured for everyone.
Speaker 2 And she was saying that that was the big realization from her time on the show. So Lisa Barlow strolling down, even the queen of Sundance has in the back of her mind, like, her conflict with Bronwyn.
Speaker 2
Right. Bronwyn is top of mind for her on a week like this.
Well, you know, want to know why? It's because I thought last week, Lisa and Bronwyn was tough.
Speaker 2 It was tough.
Speaker 2 Because honestly, even if you're not a big Bronwyn fan, I think one storyline where she was incredibly sympathetic and my heart really did break for her was when she shared the story of the background of
Speaker 2 Gwen's parentage. So she has a daughter, Gwen, and she got pregnant out of wedlock with a very Mormon baby daddy.
Speaker 2 Yeah.
Speaker 2 And
Speaker 2
the father and the mother of him basically didn't like accept her. Basically, just tough Mormon stuff with the child coming.
And she was 19,
Speaker 2
Becker reminds us. And so it's been a very, very, very, you know, difficult relationship.
Gwen's father doesn't know her because he's passed away since.
Speaker 2
Wow, this is, as I'm reminding myself as I'm saying this, it gets even darker. But it's anyway, guys, please give me grace.
Remember, it's 7 a.m.
Speaker 2 But it's a tough situation and Lisa is somehow finding herself in the middle of it.
Speaker 2 And I think that all Bronwyn was really wanting in that reunion exchange was just for Lisa to acknowledge the fact that Gwen's feelings had been hurt by Lisa in regards to all this.
Speaker 2 And Lisa just couldn't do that. But I think Lisa is
Speaker 2 feeling the
Speaker 2 guilt and the impact of what she has maybe wrought by just by mentioning certain specifics on the after show, as it were.
Speaker 2 And I think she just might have a hard time apologizing or just taking any, taking some accountability for a situation like this.
Speaker 2 And it's why we love Lisa, but it's also really, it's, I mean, that was a hard, I mean, we're huge Lisa Barlow fans in this house. That was a particularly tough thing to watch.
Speaker 2
But these are, this is the thing. We're just saying that these are human beings and it's a show of anti-heroes and we love them for it.
So Lisa Barlow was out and about.
Speaker 2
I know I saw Heather Gay in some photos. Well, Heather Gay and Stevens and our friend Stevens and Barry were hanging out, having a great old old time.
I'm just so, because I came to Sundance.
Speaker 2
I'm on a tight-ish schedule. I'm disappointed.
I don't have time to ski to hit the slopes here. Bummer.
And I didn't really get a chance to screen any of their films.
Speaker 2
I was really excited for that opportunity. Didn't quite have time for that.
And so hard. People don't even realize that it's like impossible to get into shit.
It's tough. It's really tough.
Speaker 2
And so shout out to anyone who came to our screening. Thank you so much for coming to the Eccles.
But I was just prepared mentally. I was like, you know what?
Speaker 2 Maybe there will be no housewives moments this trip and that will be okay. And lo and behold, Meredith.
Speaker 2 Meredith, thank you for making, I mean, this was, this just completed the entire experience for me. Thank you, Meredith.
Speaker 2
Genuinely, truly, Meredith and Seth, thank you for coming and supporting the film. They did not see the film, unfortunately, but they are very excited to.
Very hard to get in.
Speaker 2
I must reveal, there was much consideration. and discussion with Andrew as the director and the producers who are all Housewives fans.
There was a scene that we had to cut from the movie where
Speaker 2 Lily's character and I are in the back house hiding away from the situation that happens in the main house.
Speaker 2
And we're surrounded by all these boxes and we're just like escaping from our realities for a moment. And I'm showing Lily's character, Lee.
Chris is showing Lily's character, Lee,
Speaker 2 the
Speaker 2 beach scene where Heather gathers all the women to reveal reality Bontees. And it's cut from the movie.
Speaker 2 It's cut from just because tonally it just kind of, you know, I understand, but tonally, it just didn't quite fit.
Speaker 2
But it was just, it was going to be the biggest laugh in the film i i believe well i'm ready to give my review of the wedding banquet No, no. This movie could have been better.
No, no, no.
Speaker 2
It had all the elements, and I'm really disappointed. I won't be able to support it in theaters.
I'm sorry, Matthew. I understand.
I won't be able to support it.
Speaker 2
But no, it was, I mean, like, Lily and I were just improvising around the house on Bread the Salt Lake City Housewives. I was in heaven.
The crew was crying, laughing.
Speaker 2 Our DP was shaking with laughter, being like, what is this show? This sounds incredible. And I was like, you guys, you need to watch this television break.
Speaker 2 Like, truly, you have spread the gospel. And then, oh my God, for Meredith and Seth to come to the party, was that a full circle moment?
Speaker 2 Well, but they knew because I had to personally reach out to all of the housewives because
Speaker 2
our producers were not hearing back from their people to clear that clip. And so they were like, Bowen, can you please do us a solid? Get another gate.
DMs.
Speaker 2
And so I had to like reach out, draft this beautiful letter from the heart. I was like, whatever.
I can read it at some point. I can't pull it up now, but because it will take too long.
Speaker 2 But oh my God, we do at some point need a reading of what we do.
Speaker 2 But they were all so understanding, so wonderful, so generous with letting us like use that moment in our film. And I'm so disappointed.
Speaker 2
But, you know, for reasons they understand, I don't, you know, this is not a contemptuous thing. I'm just like, oh, that's like my one thing that I mourn.
Deleted scenes.
Speaker 2
I mean, this is yet another Bo and Yang deleted scene. Oh my goodness.
You might be the legend of
Speaker 2
the legend of the cutting room floor. I miss deleted.
DVD culture was deleted scene culture. And now we have YouTube.
And featurette culture. Featurette culture.
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 2 But the featurettes, like with the YouTube stuff, you have to seek it out, right? And I'm so glad that I sought out the substance feature because I loved that after we came to see it.
Speaker 2 But with featurette culture and deleted scene culture, that was presented in front of you as part of the package, as part of like the sit-down. I'm going to say this right now.
Speaker 2 There's one film that we both love that had amazing DVD features. And I think this movie, if you really boil it down to DVD culture and when it was at its peak,
Speaker 2
this movie is peak DVD culture. And we're going to say it on three together.
No, I don't know. I don't know what you mean.
I'm going to say it and you're going to wish that you had thrown the dice.
Speaker 2
I'm going to count down. Three, two, one, Charlie's Angels.
Charlie's Angels full. Oh my God.
Wait, I was, why was I so underconfident? You said Charlie's Angels.
Speaker 2
I was going to say Charlie's Angels full throttle. First of all, Charlie's Angels.
No, because Charlie's Angels full throttle was a few years later.
Speaker 2
No, I knew you knew. I knew you knew.
Why did I ever doubt myself? I love you.
Speaker 2 Love you back. I mean, I'm just saying that I knew you knew.

Speaker 2 The Charlie's Angels special feature is the first one, especially because, like, the way the fire and the rock music would be play.
Speaker 2
God, just the best movies ever. Best movies ever.
Can I say ever? Oh, my God. Matt, if you're going to get asked by Letterboxd very soon what your four favorites are.
Oh, God.
Speaker 2 Both times I've been asked, both times I've said Charlie's Angels. And this time on the red carpet yesterday, they were there.
Speaker 2
I was able to share because Charlie XCX's Letterboxd delete, did you see this? Yes, I did. And I really enjoyed Charlie XCX's Letterbox.
Charlie's Angels was on that list,
Speaker 2
which then prompted me to reach out out to her and be like, oh my God, that movie's on mine. And then we both bonded about how it is cinema classic.
Yeah. It's so good.
Speaker 2
I mean, like, it's also so gorgeously self-aware. I mean, just, it's so fun.
It exists to be fun, but also the plot is good and the twists are good. Yes, absolutely.
Speaker 2 What do you make of the scuttle button now
Speaker 2 that part three, I mean, all the women are on board for part three. The three of them got on a Zoom with Demi
Speaker 2 recently, just discussing how fun that movie was,
Speaker 2 Full Throttle. And I just, they all look like, I want to see them all in a movie again like that.
Speaker 2 Yeah, I would deeply, especially because Cameron's now, I guess, out of retirement in some way, fashion.
Speaker 2
I feel like, you know, while we love Drew on her daytime show, it'd be great to see her in the cinema. Absolutely.
Lucy's making a comeback. Lucy's always welcome.
Yeah.
Speaker 2
I mean, and also Demi's having the moment. Demi did, of course, I don't know, a spoiler alert for Charlie's Angels Full full throttle.
But Demi does
Speaker 2 slum it into a fiery pit.
Speaker 2 So it would be a lot for her to come back because they really do show her becoming engulfed in flames. But let me tell you something.
Speaker 2
In the world of Charlie's Angels, crazier things have literally happened. Truly.
She is engulfed in flames. in a theater in downtown LA
Speaker 2 after
Speaker 2 she swings.
Speaker 2
Yes. Swing on Chinese lanterns all the way downtown.
swing on Chinese lanterns and string lights all the way from Hollywood to downtown LA Which is what at least like seven miles? I can't
Speaker 2 let's just say it was an incredible feat for them to accomplish Especially because there are not Chinese lanters hanging the entire way down there like you could
Speaker 2 this is the part where you really had to suspend disbelief Bo once you get to the end of Charlie Sangel's full throttle if you hadn't suspended disbelief by now it's time to start it's seven miles of string lights and just swinging like like Spider-Man
Speaker 2 through the low, through the low,
Speaker 2 low neighborhoods.
Speaker 2 Absolutely.
Speaker 2
No tall buildings in West Lake or Echo Park, let's just say. Really a comment on how bad traffic congestion can be here.
Really, a comment on that and a smart comment on that.
Speaker 2 And a smart, fun comment that we didn't even pick up on until now, all these years later.
Speaker 2
But we're talking about it now, and this is just, I'm going to be cloying and say this is really highlighting our love for Los Angeles. Hashtag stay in LA.
Okay.
Speaker 2 Listen, well, you know, now they're really trying to, there's lots of movements now to try to get more production back here because it's kind of ridiculous.
Speaker 2 I mean, that's what Newsom should do next is we, he should, we should try to figure, and obviously this is not as like easily said and done.
Speaker 2 All these tax incentives and tax breaks that all these other states get to shoot, here's a novel idea. How about bringing those to California? Right?
Speaker 2 Like revitalize, revive the industry here. Again, I don't know shit, but it feels like something where I'm like, you know, they keep saying like, oh, well, it's easy to shoot in Georgia.
Speaker 2 Oh, well, it's easy to shoot in fucking Canada.
Speaker 2 Like even Pennsylvania saying all these places, I'm like, what, why can't that be in California? You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
Speaker 2
I love a Quixote trailer and you only get those in California. Baby, got to Video Village.
Not Video Village. I got to Base Camp yesterday for my own new project.
Can't say yet.
Speaker 2 Hopefully can say say soon.
Speaker 2 I walked onto a studio lot.
Speaker 2
It was base camp on a studio lot. And it felt like hooray for Hollywood.
And I was getting put into hair and makeup. And actually, it's more of a costume than I've done in ever.
That's fun.
Speaker 2 And then the tour went by, and I was like, oh, I had a little boy moment where I was like, I feel like I made it.
Speaker 2 I'm in costume as the tour goes by, and I'm on a studio lot, and it was fun. And I was like, see, this is the whole Hollywood, Hollywood, California thing.
Speaker 2 It's literally hooray for Hollywood. Hollywood.
Speaker 2
The song that plays when you ring my doorbell. That La'Vian Rose, it's a rotation.
That's amazing.
Speaker 2
I love that damn song. It's really a hit.
It's really a hit. They knew they had something when they wrote it.
They knew they had something when they wrote it.
Speaker 2
Well, that's my Sundance experience for the most part. That's the gist of it.
But wait, one more thing. What's the buzz on Kiss of the Spider-Woman?
Speaker 2 Buzz on Kiss of the Spider-Woman is that it is really, really good. It's very entertaining.
Speaker 2
I think Vulture just put out a review saying, I'm not being too generous with it, but I'm still seeing it anyway. I don't fucking care.
Bill Condon, this is the thing about Bill Condon.
Speaker 2
I'm seeing, I'm seated. And for J-Lo, like, come on.
I mean, listen, all you have to do is say J-Lo is going to be dancing in like a Hollywood production, like, and, and that Bill Condon is doing it.
Speaker 2
And then I'm, I'm kind of there. Like, we'll see.
I guess the reviews, because I've also been reading the reviews, and it seems like a takeaway is obviously two very different movies.
Speaker 2 If you don't know the story of Kiss of the Spider-Woman, so it's about Argentinian prisoners. And one of them is a openly, flamboyantly gay window dresser.
Speaker 2 And the way he sort of deals with his life is by imagining in his mind Hollywood sequences and big dance numbers that feature his favorite star, La Luna. And that is played by Jennifer Lopez.
Speaker 2 And so Jennifer Lopez sort of exists as a movie within a movie, so that these two characters who are undergoing torture and, you know, a very, very, very bleak existence in an Argentinian small prison cell can sort of like
Speaker 2 escape somewhere
Speaker 2 and deal with the trauma of their circumstances. It's really interesting, and it's an excellent musical.
Speaker 2
But as a movie, it feels like a tough adaptation. And I think some of the comments are that it obviously feels like two very different movies, and one is more enjoyable than the other.
But we'll see.
Speaker 2
Yes. That's just the buzz on the ground.
We literally will see the movie. 100%.
Speaker 2 That's the scuttlebutt on that.
Speaker 2
Huge, huge praise and buzz for Ava Victor's film. Sorry, baby.
Wow. Nice.
The debut of
Speaker 2
a new filmmaking voice. They are, I mean, Ava Victor is getting so many accolades, and we're so happy for them.
Friend of the show. Friend of the show.
We love Ava. So exciting.
Speaker 2
Just on so many Lucas Hedges is in that movie. Cool.
Natalie Rodder Lateman, friend of the show, also in that film. Is Natalie up at Sundance? I don't think she is.
I would have loved to see her.
Speaker 2
I don't think she is, unfortunately. Or maybe she is.
Maybe I just missed her. I feel like I'm not, everyone's here for like a full five, six days.
Speaker 2
And I'm like, I'm here for two nights and I'm scooting. But I got to do it right next time.
What are you coming back so quickly for? Like, what is it that you have to do?
Speaker 2
I got to work on a shoot tomorrow. So then at the end of the week, this is where we say we're going to, we're having a Vegas moment.
My first Vegas moment since high school. Wow.
Speaker 2
Yeah. Has it changed? We are having a Vegas moment.
And let me tell you something. We are doing it big.
Speaker 2 We are seeing on Friday night, Shania.
Speaker 2 On Saturday night, Mariah. Is it Divas Live or what?
Speaker 2
Or what? Up in this piece. I cannot wait.
Or what?
Speaker 2
My family never did the Vegas shows. I mean, I guess the kids don't even really go.
No, no, no. It's not a family thing.
I mean,
Speaker 2
the first time I ever went was in college. And I remember like my dumb basic ass was like, it's like Disney World for adults, which is literally what it is.
I got to take you on the roller coaster.
Speaker 2
I don't know about that. Why? How about you take me shopping? That's the roller coaster.
All right, we can go shopping. We can definitely go shopping.
We can definitely go to the buffet. Oh, yes.
Speaker 2 We will definitely be going to the shows. We will be on one i cannot wait and i just if there's a camera up in here then the best knuckles the flicker you
Speaker 2 that's for if you see us yeah if there's a camera up in here it's gonna leave with me when i do
Speaker 2 yeah i'm taking that camera does she sing touch my body she better i haven't looked at the set list i'll be shook if she doesn't i love touch my body oh he's so good also
Speaker 2 legend in the music video
Speaker 2 unbelievable legend So we're supposed to do. I think the suggestion is that everyone wear a little glittery something to Mariah and everyone wear a little leopard something to Shania.
Speaker 2 Ooh, I don't think I have the leopard, but I'll
Speaker 2 bring your zebra coat that you wore on the red carpet too.
Speaker 2 I saw your look. I saw your look.
Speaker 2 I was
Speaker 2
a zebra coat. A Marnie zebra coat.
And what were those pants? Those like purple plaid pants? They were
Speaker 2
blue plaid pants. Never can tell them apart.
No problem. And
Speaker 2
some fun power clashing, a Michael Fisher nudge, a polite Michael Fisher nudge. We love him.
By the way, can we get your response to the Oscar Domes?
Speaker 2
Oh, wait, look, we're talking about Vegas, and then we'll talk about Oscar Domes in a bit. I mean, we said that's what we're going to be this weekend.
We will have a full report when we get back. Yep.
Speaker 2
Let's talk Oscar Domes. Okay, so first of all, I want my big takeaway is that you guys were great.
Oh, thanks. Like you and Rachel, so much fun together.
Speaker 2 I love the alt comedy joke about how it's just comedy for gays and women.
Speaker 2 It's true. This was a really fun.
Speaker 2
You guys did look amazing and great pronunciation. Thank you.
Can I say your French was jumping out? Girl, it helps. It helps to speak a language, to have a flexible tongue.
Speaker 2
I think I'd be truly adrift. I thought the Usker nominations were pretty good.
I have my disappointments.
Speaker 2
I'm disappointed not to see Margaret Qualy there. I really am.
Very disappointment not to see Margaret. I can't say I'm like totally in love with the supporting categories for whatever reasons.
Speaker 2
No Challengers noms. I think the Challengers lack of love sucks.
But you know, I've seen almost everything this year. And I'm not going to go out of my way to say anything negative, but
Speaker 2 there's some boring stuff that's like floated to the top. Like for me, it's like,
Speaker 2 I don't know. Like, I just, I, I think it could have been a little bit more interesting had we thrown in like
Speaker 2 challengers into best picture.
Speaker 2
If we had seen, even like, I haven't seen this movie because it terrifies me, but like, people love Nosferatu. I was like, it's got lots of craft nominations.
Yeah, a lot of technical stuff.
Speaker 2 But, well, I was, I was just buzzing through because there was about a four-hour window where they took your phones away.
Speaker 2 I get in and the academy is like, phones, please. I was like, oh, of course.
Speaker 2
So I get in. My flight lands at 12.30.
I have to be at the academy at 1 a.m. Oh, damn.
And then I. Oh, I didn't know it was like this.
They snatch your phones away.
Speaker 2 And then I am basically prepping for four hours, doing little social hits, but also about a solid hour of pronunciation training with the wonderful Cliff at the Academy, who Louis Rottel shouted out to me over DMs.
Speaker 2 He was like, that is the Oscar Oracle. that is he is the
Speaker 2 and so they tell you who the nominees are going to be beforehand yes so i get a big binder that has all the nominees oh wow and so you were you so you got to be a little gagged beforehand i was gagged beforehand flipping through being like oh my god sebastian like just i like so fun oh my god wait so i've now seen the apprentice Those nominations are really well deserved.
Speaker 2 Jeremy, congrats, Jeremy and Sebastian. And I understand people are like squeamish about watching the movie The Apprentice because of the Trump of it all.
Speaker 2 But like when you do get around to it, those performances are excellent.
Speaker 2
And I enjoyed the movie. I really did.
I guess this is my thing is it's like, there's a lot of like interesting, bold movies out there.
Speaker 2 And I want to say, I think I just got used to the idea that something like The Substance could be nominated for Best Picture so that when it was, I'm not giving it its flowers right now. It's amazing.
Speaker 2
So many things are nominated and up there for awards that like would not normally be. And I think it's great.
Lots of international stuff is nominated.
Speaker 2
I'm just going to say it. I'm not crazy about a complete unknown.
And in fact, to say, to say I'm not crazy about it is an understatement. I find it to be a Wikipedia to a karaoke track.
Ooh, ooh.
Speaker 2
That's the read I'll give for this. I mean, like, especially because he did walk the line, which was so good.
Right.
Speaker 2 Like, I just feel like it was this, it was like a low-impact version of that same movie. I think it's really hard
Speaker 2 to like dramatize and bring emotion to the story of someone who was by definition unknowable and very removed.
Speaker 2 And I just, I did not find it that compelling of a story because I actually think that not every cultural figure has a compelling story.
Speaker 2 If anyone injected like actual stakes into that film, it was, I'm going to say weirdly, Norbert Leo Butts. Yeah, I mean, yeah.
Speaker 2
She was the character where I'm like, oh, oh, okay, this is, this is why we should care, question mark. It had its moments.
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2
Like, I thought, like I said, I thought the ensemble was great. I thought the casting was excellent.
It's just, it didn't add up to an altogether very compelling story for me.
Speaker 2 And I thought the performances in terms of the music were good.
Speaker 2
You know, it's nothing against it. It's just, I look at the Oscar nominations and see that it did so well.
And I'm like, no, really? But anyway, that's just how I feel. I'm not crazy about that movie.
Speaker 2
I wasn't crazy about Conclave. But again, I did see that on Election Day.
You watched it on Election Day. I went into Conclave being like, this is probably not going to be for me.
Speaker 2
Really, really enjoyed it. Yeah.
No, I mean, a lot, many, many people did.
Speaker 2
And there's so many movies up there that I'm like, I really loved. It's just, I don't know.
It's just some of them I'm.
Speaker 2 I just don't care that much.
Speaker 2 What if your Wi-Fi wasn't just Wi-Fi, but the magic holding your whole holiday together? Well, with Xfinity Wi-Fi, it kind of is. Picture this.
Speaker 2 Powered by their best, most elite, high-performing tech, this Wi-Fi doesn't just connect devices, it keeps the peace at home during the most wonderful and most stressful time of the year.
Speaker 2 It's kind of like having a little holiday helper working behind the scenes, making sure the holiday playlist never skips the beat and the video call with grandma doesn't freeze mid-cookie tutorial.
Speaker 2 It's Wi-Fi that keeps your whole home connected so you can actually enjoy the holiday magic chaos-free.
Speaker 2 The best present of all let me paint a picture for you a holiday movie marathon is streaming in the living room your kid is video chatting their friends from their tablet and your partner is shopping for too many gifts and cinnamon candles ah
Speaker 2 not this season not with xfinity wifi with xfinity you can boost the wi-fi to your device only so when you go to upload 200 photos of that cat in a cute little santa hat you won't see that dreaded failed to upload message.
Speaker 2 Not this season, not with Xfinity Wi-Fi. And what if you had a way to make sure family time during the holidays had zero distractions?
Speaker 2 With Xfinity Wi-Fi, you can pause the kids' Wi-Fi and enjoy those special moments together.
Speaker 2 And if you're wondering what other parental instincts your Wi-Fi has during this busy season, Xfinity protects your kids when they're online so you know they're safe, even if you're busy making cocoa or taste testing cookies.
Speaker 2 What? Someone has to make sure there's exactly the same amount of chocolate chips in each cookie.
Speaker 2 And what if your Wi-Fi could proactively fix issues before they even happen? Well, that's exactly what Xfinity Wi-Fi does.
Speaker 2
Like the friend who shows up with extra wrapping paper, bows, and tape before you even realize you're out. Because let's be honest, you never buy enough.
Bottom line, Xfinity Wi-Fi isn't just smart.
Speaker 2
It's brilliant. And during the holidays, that brilliance, that's a gift.
Xfinity, imagine that. Who decides what you can do? Who gets to decide what you're capable of? Your boss? Your friends?
Speaker 2
Some stranger on the internet? No, no, and absolutely no. You decide.
Only you. Ford shares that belief.
It's like engineered into their vehicles. An F-150 is all steel, sweat, and dreams.
Right?
Speaker 2
Mm-hmm. A Ford Bronco is built for adventure, but you've got to get behind the wheel.
Can you? Yeah, you can. But you have to first.
You have to. And a Mustang, the Mustang that conquers curves.
Speaker 2
You are more capable than you know. Like, for example, I never thought I could parallel park.
I just thought it wasn't something that was going to happen for me in my life.
Speaker 2 And not everyone gets to have every experience, you know? But then, suddenly, I did a parallel park and I thought, wow, I'm gonna apply to Harvard. I didn't get in, but I did parallel park.
Speaker 2
Sometimes you just need to push. What is it that they say? Whether you think you can or you think you can't.
You're right. Ready, set
Speaker 2
Ford. Visit Ford.com to learn more.
You ever just stop in the middle of a crazy day and realize, wow, I needed a break. It literally happened to me yesterday.
Speaker 2
I cracked open a Diet Coke, sat back for five minutes, total reset. Right? There's something about the crispy, refreshing taste of an ice-cold Diet Coke.
It just hits.
Speaker 2
It's my little me moment, like make time for a Diet Coke break, you know? Exactly. Diet Coke is the perfect companion for all break moments.
Diet Coke, this is my taste.
Speaker 2
Two questions. What are you doing right now? And why aren't you on a Virgin Voyages Caribbean cruise? Well, obviously you were listening to us.
Smart use of your time. True.
Speaker 2
But you could also be on a Virgin Voyages Caribbean cruise at the same time. That's just brilliant time management.
Very true. This gives me an idea.
Let's do a quick cruise quiz. Ready?
Speaker 2
First, cruise dining. Do you prefer a buffet or a curated dining experience with access to 20 distinct restaurants? Curated dining.
Next. Okay, good choice.
That's what Virgin Voyages offers.
Speaker 2 Second question. Would you rather have an overstuffed itinerary or the freedom to explore stunning Caribbean? Oh, I want the freedom to explore stunning Caribbean destinations.
Speaker 2
Again, I think I see where this quiz is going. Virgin Voyages is amazing.
Yeah, absolutely. The cruises are kid-free.
From sunrise yoga to late-night cocktails, every moment is made for grown-up fun.
Speaker 2
Nothing against kids. Kids are awesome, but sometimes it's nice to be kid-free.
And there's so much included value, over $1,000. Right.
Over $1,000 of awesomeness all included.
Speaker 2
Wi-Fi, soda, top-tier entertainment, over 20 restaurants, and even group fitness classes. No hidden fees, no surprise charges.
Virgin Voyages gives you the kind of luxury you actually deserve.
Speaker 2
And you know what? I deserve luxury. You do, and me too.
Yes, there's always something something happening on board.
Speaker 2
From wellness-focused sailings to epic holiday voyages, live music, DJs, themed parties, and more. Boredom doesn't board the ship.
And there are so many amazing stops.
Speaker 2 You leave from Miami and sail to places like Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Virgin even has their own private beach club in Bimini.
Speaker 2
And they're adding stops in 2025 and 2026. Yeah, like Aruba, St.
Lucia, and Curacao. But it's not all go, go, go.
Right, you can totally go into relaxation mode too. Your cabin is a full-on sanctuary.
Speaker 2 Private terrace, ocean views, and their signature red hammock just waiting for you to swing. Oh, and did I mention Virgin Voyages is launching a new ship, the Brilliant Lady?
Speaker 2
Brilliant name, by the way. She's bigger, bolder, and packed with even more Virgin Wow Factor.
Book now at virginvoyages.com or contact your travel advisor. That's virginvoyages.com.
Speaker 2 There's a whole TikTok
Speaker 2 about how the scans on
Speaker 2 hello very nice to meet
Speaker 2 you about sex change operation.
Speaker 2 Like, how fucking crazy.
Speaker 2 Why would the emphasis be on those specific syllables? There's no, like, you could just go skip the very, hello, nice to meet you.
Speaker 2 Hello, very, nice, as opposed to, hello, very, nice to meet.
Speaker 2 It's like so, it's meant, like, I, I don't totally buy into the idea that like it's meant to be like caustic and it's meant to sound like a melodic or whatever. I'm like, no,
Speaker 2 like, stand in the the musical sort of like zone shall we say and just like deliver first of all not only what yeah what
Speaker 2 becker ramos if amelia perez has no haters i'm dead well there you go first of all you know who completely snubbed that movie glad right well
Speaker 2 there you go right there so first of all I know there's a lot of discourse about this movie from the trans community, from the Mexican community. I'm not going to weigh in on any of that.
Speaker 2 What I'm going to say is this movie is at the same time,
Speaker 2 it's so chaotic and it is also so boring.
Speaker 2
Like, it's both. It's kind of crazy, right? Because it just comes in and sweeps these nominations.
And now I have to ask why.
Speaker 2 Come on.
Speaker 2 Like,
Speaker 2 Becca says 2025 is a green book, but it's not like that, though, because green, I guess in kind, it sort of is because it's like a, you know, a queer movie that people feel like they can get behind in the academy, but it feels different to me.
Speaker 2 It's already the villain, though, of the season and the campaign. And so I feel like, I don't know if it can go the distance in the words of Lisa Barlow, but.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I don't know how I feel about it being the villain either. It's just like, it's not good enough to be the frontrunner in my eyes.
And it's also not like...
Speaker 2 I'm also uncomfortable with the amount of hatred that it's garnering.
Speaker 2 Because then you look down some corners of the internet and it's like people, it's people like, you know, I won't even say the names of like some of these YouTubers I've watched, but it's just like,
Speaker 2 you know, they play the clip of that sex change operation thing, and then they it cuts back to them and they're hating it.
Speaker 2 It's like Becca's saying right now, hating it for all the wrong reasons, right? And like, you know, that feels really uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 But then when you put that clip out there as a representation of the movie, how exactly do you think it's going to be received? I don't know.
Speaker 2 This is a really bizarre cultural moment, this movie, because it's like,
Speaker 2
I don't know what it is. I think they decided really early on.
I think it premiered at Can, and they decided really early on. This was like the prestige big movie of the year.
Speaker 2 And also it's Netflix and everything. So it all kind of packaged up to be this like big Oscar movie.
Speaker 2
And then everyone saw it and everyone has these like crazy polarizing responses to it for good reason. And again, this is nothing to say about the performances.
The performances are great. Yeah.
Speaker 2
And it's, it's well done. And I think Zoe Seldano will win the Oscar for it.
And she's stunning. But
Speaker 2 this movie's,
Speaker 2 it's like, what? What exactly are we watching?
Speaker 2
It doesn't have to be all these genres. Sometimes that's just confusing.
I find the story to be compelling. It's compelling, but it also doesn't quite make sense either.
Speaker 2 And like the first act stuff, it's like, well, why is she the one who has to like figure out logistically all these things? Right. Anyway, that's, is that our bounce on the words of Seth Meyers?
Speaker 2
Our bounce. That's, that might be our bounce.
I just thought there was there were so many great movies this year.
Speaker 2 And then some of them, the ones that I was like, oh yeah, those are the Givens and the Oscar race. You know, you get around to watching them and like, you're like, okay, sure.
Speaker 2 I guess, I guess we've decided this is the representation of film this year. Right.
Speaker 2 Well, before we move on, I don't think so, anyway. Can we just talk about the announcement that just came out that we are officially coming out with the Rules of Culture, Volume One?
Speaker 2
Thank you for reminding me. Oh, my God.
Yes, your girls are authors future authors bonyang and i will be co-authoring the rules of culture volume one
Speaker 2 that is being announced today we're doing it under
Speaker 2 andy cohen's imprint thank you king thank you father uh 2026 we're eyeing publication for 2026 but we are excited to announce that now and um we are excited to get to work on it and it's like it's going to be different than you may think i think that a lot of people have been reaching out being like, where's the coffee table book with the rules of culture?
Speaker 2 Heard your suggestion there. We're going to do something a little bit different, a little bit more fun for us.
Speaker 2
We're putting our foot into this book. Yes.
Oh,
Speaker 2 interesting. In a sexual way?
Speaker 2
No, I don't think of putting your foot into it as necessarily a sexual thing. I just mean really put your foot in that.
Like, you know what I mean? Like, isn't that an expression?
Speaker 2
Yes, but also it could be a kink. I think.
Let's say it's both. Yes.
We will be putting our foot into it in a writerly and kinky sense. Yes.
And we're so excited.
Speaker 2
And thank you to everyone at Crown Publishing Group, agents, and all those wonderful people who make dreams come true. Oh, this is a dream come true.
Penguin Random House.
Speaker 2
We're so excited to work with y'all. And Andy Cohen himself.
Of course. This will be a true blast to do, and it's coming next year.
Speaker 2 What else? Is it time for I don't think so, honey? I think it's time. Yeah, this is a scant episode, you guys, because it is early in the morning.
Speaker 2
This is one of those weeks where this was the only time we could do this. And it is 7 a.m.
for me, 8 a.m. for Bowen in mountain time.
Speaker 2 But we love you so much. This was really the mountain episode.
Speaker 2 Last week was the laughing episode. This was the mountain episode.
Speaker 2
It's Wi-Fi that keeps your whole home connected, so you can actually enjoy the holiday magic. Chaos free.
The best present of all. Let me paint a picture for you.
Speaker 2
A holiday movie marathon is streaming in the living room. Your kid is video chatting their friends from their tablet and your partner is shopping for too many gifts and cinnamon candles.
Ah!
Speaker 2 Not this season, not with Xfinity Wi-Fi. With Xfinity, you can boost the Wi-Fi to your device only.
Speaker 2 So when you go to upload 200 photos of that cat in a cute little Santa hat, you won't see that dreaded failed to upload message. Not this season, not with Xfinity Wi-Fi.
Speaker 2 And what if you had a way to make sure family time during the holidays had zero distractions? With Xfinity Wi-Fi, you can pause the kids' Wi-Fi and enjoy those special moments together.
Speaker 2 Like the friend who shows up with extra wrapping paper, bows, and tape before you even realize you're out. Because let's be honest, you never buy enough.
Speaker 2
Bottom line, Xfinity Wi-Fi isn't just smart, it's brilliant. And during the holidays, that brilliance, that's a gift.
Xfinity, imagine that. Who decides what you can do?
Speaker 2
Who gets to decide what you're capable of? Your boss? Your friends? Some stranger on the internet? No, no, and absolutely no. You decide.
Only you. Ford shares that belief.
Speaker 2
It's like engineered into their vehicles. An F-150 is all steel, sweat, and dreams.
Right?
Speaker 2
A Ford Bronco is built for adventure, but you've got to get behind the wheel. Can you? Yeah, you can, but you have to first.
But then suddenly I did a parallel park and I thought, wow, I'm going to apply to Harvard.
Right, over $1,000 of awesomeness all included.
Yes. There's always something happening on board.
Virgin even has their own private beach club in Bibini.
Speaker 2
And they're adding stops in 2025 and 2026. Yeah, like Aruba, St.
Lucia, and Curaçao. But it's not all go, go, go.
Right, you can totally go into relaxation mode, too.
Speaker 2 Your cabin is a full-on sanctuary. Private terrace, ocean views, and their signature red hammock just waiting for you to swing.
Speaker 2 Oh, and did I mention Virgin Voyages is launching a new ship, the Brilliant Lady? Brilliant name, by the way. She's bigger, bolder, and packed with even more Virgin Wow Factor.
Speaker 2 Book now at virginvoyages.com or contact your travel advisor. That's virginvoyages.com.
Speaker 2
All right, I have something that I could do for Idon Think So, honey. It's something that I'm like noticing noticing more and more and I can't wrap my head around it.
Oh, okay. This is Matt Rogers.
Speaker 2
I don't think so, honey. Time starts now.
I don't think so, honey. You working out with all your jewelry on.
Speaker 2 Like, I'll be at Barry's boot camp, and literally on the treadmill next to me will be a woman in full earrings, bangles, and more.
Speaker 2 Literally yesterday, I was at the Hollywood location, and I'm putting some of you on blast if you take class with me. A woman's earrings fall in.
Speaker 2
The guy next to me, watches, bracelets, and a necklace. The guy on the other side of me, a necklace.
And I'm like, guys, what if something falls off? This becomes a projectile.
Speaker 2
And this is another installment in becoming a projectile culture. This is why you always wear seatbelts.
I don't care if you think you're going to be safe.
Speaker 2 If there's an accident, you become a projectile.
Speaker 2 If there's an accident at Barry's, I don't think so, honey, when your accoutrements start flying everywhere and your earring, mama on treadsticks, becomes a projectile.
Speaker 2
Take the earrings off, put them in the lockers they provide for you. I don't like jewelry and all these things.
Watch us flying around. I don't think so, honey, during the workout.
Speaker 2
Not during group fitness. I don't think so, honey.
That's one minute.
Speaker 2 That is really,
Speaker 2 I would say, slightly dangerous.
Speaker 2 First of all, why would you want to wear all that stuff while you're dealing with weights and like materials and positions where you have to like engage your body in certain ways?
Speaker 2 Okay, let's say you're not at Barry's, you're at the gym, you're with some machinery and some hardware like that's just a disaster zone like you're something's gonna get snagged and caught no things get caught on stuff and that's what i'm saying it's just like and then the guy next to me did that thing where um
Speaker 2 he tried to like you know at the end of a sprint at barry's like what people will try to jump to the sides
Speaker 2
Instead of like running it down like like, okay, okay, we're running. I gotta do that every now and then.
I have to say, that bugs me because I'm like, you're gonna hurt yourself.
Speaker 2 No, I know, but that's, I think that you
Speaker 2 jumping to the sides of the, of the treadmill, like in order to relieve yourself of the strenuous activity. I feel like that is how people are going to hurt themselves.
Speaker 2
It's like, it's, it's, it's not a natural movement. And it just makes me nervous next to you.
I'm not yelling at you, Bo. No.
I'm just saying I don't want you to hurt yourself.
Speaker 2
Thank you. I never said that.
I never knew you were this type of girl. Congratulations on 150 classes, by the way.
Speaker 2
Thank you. Huge feat.
And I started working with a trainer.
Speaker 2 Fans of the ride podcast may know JR.
Speaker 2
I actually asked him, I asked him yesterday. I was like, so does, does Benny talk about you on the ride podcast? Because he trains Benny Drama.
And he goes, yes, Benny and Mary Beth.
Speaker 2 And I was like, okay, wow. So this is someone I feel safe.
Speaker 2
I'm actually seeing him in two hours. I feel safe mentioning him on the pod.
But now you have to ask nowadays. The pod is so huge.
Speaker 2 You never know who's going to be uncomfortable by putting me thrust into the limelight of lost college.
Speaker 2 One of the funniest things about watching the nominations live, because I did, I woke up early as I want to do, I guess, lately. So I could watch you do the nominations live.
Speaker 2
And it's like, I watched it on YouTube. Yes, I watched it live.
I watched the whole thing live. I woke up.
Speaker 2 I woke up at 5.27 a.m., put that laptop on my chest and opened it for you and Rachel sent it pronouncing French and looking hot. And one thing I'll say is the entire YouTube chat
Speaker 2 was people from Brazil going crazy for Fernando Torres, and I'm still here.
Speaker 2 I think she could actually win.
Speaker 2 Like, now that she's nominated, like, if I do think Demi is still a front runner, but I think that Fernando Torres' performance in that is so stunning that if people actually watch all of them, it might be hard not to vote for her.
Speaker 2 But obviously, we're still Team to Me here. And Teams to me.
Speaker 2
And Team Cynthia. I mean, it's, I think, I do think it is a very fun stock to best actress race this year.
Love best actress this year. It ended up being such a competitive year.
Speaker 2
And, you know, to say nothing of fucking Mikey Madison, who's absolutely amazing. And some people, I think, are rightfully feeling the Nicole Kidman snow-100%.
That's a major snub.
Speaker 2 Hugely Oscar worthy performance. I love Baby Girl.
Speaker 2 Nicole Kidman and Baby girl like it's it's wild that she keeps getting better but she is getting better i mean to say nothing of marianne jean-baptiste who was also amazing at hard truths which is a tough movie but like an unbelievable performance you know i loved pam and last show girl like there was so much going on this year in best actress so kudos to those nominated kudos
Speaker 2
Oh, I guess I haven't technically done my I don't think so, honey. You have not technically done it.
So this is your technical I Don't Think So, honey. Are you ready to sort of shred?
Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah. yeah, yes.
Oh, speaking of shred, oh, thank you for setting me up like that, for teeing me up like that. Go.
This is the one Yang's I don't think so, honey. His time starts now.
Speaker 2
I don't think so, honey. Cross-country skiing.
I'm seeing some of you do this out here in Park City, Utah, as I'm driving into town. Why? What's the point? I'm sure I'm going to get lectured.
Speaker 2
There's probably so many wonderful reasons to do it. And the times that I've done it, I see no value.
I see no enjoyment out of it.
Speaker 2 I see jelly sore legs the next day, or even the same day, even day of.
Speaker 2
If you're going down the slopes, I know there's risk of danger. I know it's scary, but at least you feel exhilarated.
You go, wow,
Speaker 2
I went down a whole ass mountain in 20 minutes. That's pretty cool.
Now I'm going to eat a fat ass burger or a big pizza at the lodge to reward myself.
Speaker 2
There's none of that built into cross-country skiing. You're in a field, you pass by a horse.
who's like 500 feet away. It doesn't really give the give.
Speaker 2
And I don't really, and I'm seeing people still do it. I thought we left that, I thought we left that in the 70s, the 80s, or whatever, the 90s.
Why are we doing it in the year of our Lord 2025?
Speaker 2
And that's one minute. I'm so sorry to hear this.
Thank you.
Speaker 2 It's hard for me.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I mean, and you are, so you really want to go to Aspen Ski Week? I do. I really do.
Okay, so we'll go and you can do your thing. And I guess I'll be that girl in the house that's like drinking.
Speaker 2 I would love for you to
Speaker 2
don't say it. Learn.
I mean, I would do some greens with you, and I think you would have a good time. I've never talked to someone who had gone skiing that didn't have a torn ACL.
That's right.
Speaker 2 What about me? What about you?
Speaker 2 What about you for once? Oh, ever thought about that?
Speaker 2
You have a torn ACL you don't even know. Sure.
I bet. Oh, my God.
If I'm just
Speaker 2 a whole personality, fine fine it would be your whole personality
Speaker 2 it would be my oh my god girl with a torn acl was such a character in high school
Speaker 2 you know what i mean um i remember i went to high school with this girl sam and it felt like she was on crutches for two years of course it was so debilitating it's not to say that she didn't need the crutches it's just it
Speaker 2 you up It's just, it's so funny that this person in my life has probably gone on to, has probably, has definitely gone on to live like a full life. Who knows where she is now?
Speaker 2 A career, you know what I mean? But she will always be that girl in crutches on high school to me.
Speaker 2 And understand that if you are in high school and you're listening to this and you're on crutches, look around, sweetie.
Speaker 2
To everyone, the rest of their life, you will be the girl who was on crutches in high school. Period.
If you're in high school, lean in or die. Lean in or, oh my God.
Speaker 2
If you're in high school listening to us, bless you. Bless your heart.
Yeah. Honestly, if you're in high school listening to us, reach out we want to hear from you yeah i'll or don't yeah
Speaker 2 now i'm like never mind
Speaker 2 not you beckoning minors
Speaker 2 hey uh young young under 18 age people let us know you're out there no really don't never mind i i i take back everything i said jesus we don't want to hear from you oh my god we don't want to hear from you no you shouldn't be hearing from us where are your parents but thank you for listening to us we love you and um we hope we inspire you to make queer podcasts in your future and we hope that this episode inspired you out there um that's really what we aim to do every week is get on here and inspire with our cultural analysis relatability with each other and our um energy and our energy this is an acclaimed podcast i mean thank you again to glad for nominating us no not glad wait yes glad yes yes glad and also i heart we got two nominations for podcast of the year Thank you so much.
Speaker 2
And we still cherish our Signal Award. Oh, I'm looking at it right now that we won alongside of Shea Perel.
And I'm going home to it in an hour. Can't wait to get home and hug my Signal trophy.
Speaker 2 Yeah, it's beautiful. We end every episode with a song.
Speaker 2 But, man, I feel like a woman.
Speaker 2
I'm going out tonight. I'm feeling alright.
I'm going to let it all hang out.
Speaker 2 Can I say one thing? There's a group thread of a lot of people that are going to Shania and Mariah. And there was some like really shitty stuff being said in the Shania group chat.
Speaker 2 We're not going to be disrespecting Shania
Speaker 2
before we even get in there. And I can't wait to get there and look around at these gay people and have them be like, wow, I didn't realize that she had so many songs.
I'd be like, no, you know what?
Speaker 2 You You just didn't open your goddamn eyes. Can I just say, make fun of a Canadian?
Speaker 2 Making fun of a Canadian is so iral.
Speaker 2
Don't do that. So pasté.
So passe compose.
Speaker 2 Well, bye. Bye.
