Speaker 12 Get her on into the Stinky Dragon. Sip on our latest libation, 10-gallon rat.
Speaker 15 It's a mixture of...
Speaker 4 Uh, pardon me, Guzzler.
Speaker 21 I do hate to interrupt, but don't you and Duncan ever get thirsty talking about all these beverages you've brewed?
Speaker 23 Huh.
Speaker 13 You know, no one's ever asked us that before, but now that you mention it, yeah, I do have a hankering for a vermin hatin'.
Speaker 11 Hmm, and you know me, I'll never turn down a cup of Joe.
Speaker 25 Woo-woo, that's better.
Speaker 11 Feels good to be talking to my normal Duncan voice again.
Speaker 14 I wondered as much, and now...
Speaker 27 I'm no expert mixologist like yourselves, but I'd be happy to look after the bar while you take a load off and, as you say, swallow your latest swill.
Speaker 26 Wow, that's mighty generous, friend.
Speaker 31 Yeah,
Speaker 32 Think nothing of it.
Speaker 17 Besides, I believe I know a tale that would interest you in particular, Gusler.
Speaker 12 Oh, yeah, which one is that?
Speaker 17 The tale of the sky blind spire.
Speaker 34 You ever think that like Gus's wife fears for her life when she's listening to this?
Speaker 34 Now I just want an entire one-shot of Gus switching around to all the voices he's done.
Speaker 37 Hello, everyone, and welcome to a special one-shot Tavern Tales episode of Tales from the Stinky Dragon.
Speaker 39 I am not Gustavo Sorolo, but rather Micah Reisinger, normally the writer, editor, and composer for the show, but today I am your dungeon master.
Speaker 36 I am joined today by a party of four lovely players. Please introduce yourselves, your character name, and a brief physical description of your character.
Speaker 10 Hello, everyone. I am Barbara Dunkelman, and
Speaker 10
today I shall be playing Muffin. Murphy.
Muffin is, let me just go through the list. She's delicate.
She's got nine fingers.
Speaker 4 Oh.
Speaker 10 She's got some patched clothing. And her personality, she's very menacing.
Speaker 10 uh, but the little secret about uh Muffin is that she talks in whispers.
Speaker 34 Oh, what's the distribution of the nine fingers?
Speaker 42 Well, you know, I have like uh, just no thumb.
Speaker 4 Oh, okay,
Speaker 34 six on one and three on the other.
Speaker 45 That would be really cool, actually.
Speaker 34 So, every movie you see is not good because you can only give it one thumbs up.
Speaker 26 One thumb up.
Speaker 42 One thumb up is still pretty good.
Speaker 4 It's like halfway.
Speaker 38 I think you're female, so are you womb menacing?
Speaker 42 I'm menacing.
Speaker 34
I'll go next. I'm Blaine, and today I'll be playing Billy the Rat.
Billy is a pudgy little character with button chops, and he's kind of like a.
Speaker 34 Whenever you think of like a mafia boss and you think about the little henchmen that he has next to him that are always kind of like rubbing their knuckles and saying, Yeah, boss, that's Billy the Rat.
Speaker 34 He's what is called a fingersmith, so I think he's gonna be like a tinkerer and he can like lockpick stuff.
Speaker 16 Gotcha.
Speaker 25 Wait, fingersmith?
Speaker 43 Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 42 That's kind of insulting to me, I think.
Speaker 4 I'm so sorry,
Speaker 43 it sounds kind of hopeless for you. Let's put it that way.
Speaker 34 But I'm going to call everybody boss.
Speaker 35 What?
Speaker 11 Maybe Billy can smith you a new finger.
Speaker 51 Yeah.
Speaker 42 I do like that.
Speaker 11 Hello, I am Gustavo Sorola, and I'll be playing Eric Ratmanski.
Speaker 34 Oh my god, I just got it.
Speaker 11 Eric Ratmansky is a very barrel-chested individual wearing ceremonial clothing with also a menacing personality. You can be womanic muffin, I'll be menacing.
Speaker 11 And he has a rather large, yeah, he has a rather large birthmark on one of his cheeks.
Speaker 16 Oh,
Speaker 13 wait, cheek on the face or
Speaker 11 you can see the one on the face.
Speaker 16 Maybe if we get to be better friends, you can see the other one.
Speaker 5 Maybe if there is another one.
Speaker 11
It's interesting. Billy the Rat was described as being like the henchman.
I figure Eric Retmansky is more like the boss, like the mob boss.
Speaker 11 Like, yeah, see, we're going to go and we're going to break their legs. Yeah.
Speaker 53 I feel like we got a theme going with our rat crew.
Speaker 16 Absolutely.
Speaker 6 Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 34 That's funny.
Speaker 39 So that's Eric Ratmansky in a nutshell.
Speaker 34 All right. Well, I'm John Reisinger
Speaker 34 and I am playing Big Benny.
Speaker 34 Big Benny to his friends.
Speaker 34 His Christian name is Benjamin Ratcliffe.
Speaker 30 Oh, okay.
Speaker 34 But Big Benny's a rather large rat, big chested. He's got some bloodstains on his clothing.
Speaker 31 Yeah, he's
Speaker 34 going to be the muscle around here if you're okay with that.
Speaker 9 Yeah.
Speaker 34 So that's
Speaker 34 Big Benny right here.
Speaker 42 I could also say, yeah.
Speaker 4 Yeah.
Speaker 11 Sounds like I got some good muscle here.
Speaker 39 You see?
Speaker 38 Everybody say yeah on three.
Speaker 36 One, two, three.
Speaker 4 Yeah.
Speaker 55 Today we are playing a wonderful one-shot that I found called the Skyblind Spire.
Speaker 37 Cool. And what's more, we aren't playing DD5e.
Speaker 16 What?
Speaker 40 We're playing a different tabletop role-playing game called Maze Rats, as you can probably guess by these names.
Speaker 40 We'll be playing a much simpler system, fewer rules.
Speaker 61 Instead of a D20, every role in the game is a 2d6.
Speaker 63 So you roll 2d6s, and then you kind of add those up.
Speaker 40 And if it's 10 or above, then it's a success.
Speaker 60 If not, then it's a failure.
Speaker 49 There's only three stats in the game, strength, dexterity, and will.
Speaker 39 The first two are pretty self-explanatory.
Speaker 66 The third will represents using force of personality, perception, or willpower.
Speaker 65 Every player is tiny, tiny, tiny with four maximum hit points and a limited number of items.
Speaker 60 A dark category.
Speaker 65 So a tiny. There are only like three classes in the game.
Speaker 70 Funnily enough.
Speaker 39 Everybody chose the same class.
Speaker 65 No way. Except the path that you guys chose.
Speaker 39 So in the third, the third class is like a path.
Speaker 59 You get to specialize in something.
Speaker 40 Three of you chose the same path.
Speaker 38 And I'll let you guess, the fourth is not a man and chose a different one.
Speaker 34 See, three of the website chose, we rolled dice.
Speaker 16 That's true.
Speaker 18 No, you could choose the path.
Speaker 71 No, I rolled dice.
Speaker 39 You could choose a roll.
Speaker 34 Mine was randomization. Well, there you go.
Speaker 72 Yeah, I did.
Speaker 34
I did the fates. Let me choose it.
Yeah.
Speaker 73 I followed the rules.
Speaker 34 The thing said, roll dice. I roll dice.
Speaker 24 I roll dice too.
Speaker 5 What are the odds that we all ended up on the same stage? This doesn't make any sense to me.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 34 Wait, so we're all the same strength and dexterity and will, or were the same paths, like the job or whatever?
Speaker 39 The fingersmith. You're all, you're three of your fingersmiths.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 16 And the one without a finger, the one missing a finger is not a fingersmith.
Speaker 76 Yeah. Yep.
Speaker 10 I feel like this works out pretty well. Yeah.
Speaker 65 Which you're a briarborn, is that correct?
Speaker 10 Briarborn, yes.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 38 So fingersmiths are good at like tinkering, picking locks, picking pockets.
Speaker 40 Briarborne is good at tracking, foraging, survival stuff.
Speaker 49 Other than that, all the listener needs to know is that our party today is comprised of rat humanoids that I've come to call rodentia.
Speaker 79 that is not a rule in maze rats you don't have to be a rat i just thought it'd be fun all right i like there were rats i want to be a rat yeah definitely any questions about that about the rules of the game team does eric radmanski have like another podcast about like eating food or like a regulation podcast i'm just curious the fact that you just didn't straight up name him eric badour
Speaker 11 honestly guys it's also an homage to a project we never got to make uh there was a a podcast we wanted to make called good news ratman breathing life into something here Exactly.
Speaker 60 All right, let's begin.
Speaker 18 Murin is an elderly Rodentia.
Speaker 72 He's hired you all to find his missing son, Vol.
Speaker 37 I'm going to pause right there and say if you're not taking notes, you might want to.
Speaker 16 I'm opening it up right now. Murin!
Speaker 38 I was looking for my notebook.
Speaker 10 I'm ready to go. I'm already like, missing son, Vol.
Speaker 14 Yeah, so Vol has been gone for 24 hours.
Speaker 56 He recently heard of a tower filled with treasure and teeming with magic.
Speaker 87 Vol insisted that he and his father Murin should search the tower immediately, but Murin refused, saying that it was too dangerous.
Speaker 67 After all, if Vol had heard these rumors, then it's likely other more unsavory types had also heard the same rumors as well, like the Rekalu, a rodentia gang of greedy cutthroats led by a shaman, Pestis.
Speaker 94 Murin's best guess is that Vol has run off to the tower, but god forbid some trouble has befallen him.
Speaker 32 The tower is about half a day's ride north through the scrublands and is surrounded by a large lake.
Speaker 72 Urin is paying each of you 50 silver pieces to find his son.
Speaker 88 Yeah.
Speaker 11 You may keep anything you like in the tower.
Speaker 26 All he wants is his son.
Speaker 10 Touch nothing but the lamp.
Speaker 98 Touch nothing but the rat.
Speaker 99 Do you have any questions?
Speaker 34 So Pestis is a shaman and he leads what's the name of the game?
Speaker 4 The Rikalu.
Speaker 30 Rikalu.
Speaker 88 Rikalu. Rikalu.
Speaker 74 Rikalu.
Speaker 39 Yeah, we're taking down those Rikalu.
Speaker 11 See, we're going to breast out the pipes and we're gonna hit him in the knees.
Speaker 15 Yeah, that's right. Bust him in the knees.
Speaker 42 All right, maybe we don't have to resort to violence. Maybe we could just kind of sneak in, get what we need, sneak out.
Speaker 43 Yeah, stealth mission.
Speaker 16 Yeah, violently.
Speaker 16 Yeah, violently, though.
Speaker 42 Okay, yeah, you guys are a definitely bunch of guys.
Speaker 51 Yeah, guys, see? Yeah.
Speaker 26 Miriam approaches the four of you and looks particularly at Eric, thinking that this must be the boss.
Speaker 16 Um, Eric, are you sure you've you four are up to this?
Speaker 78 I really do insist you need to find my son.
Speaker 24 Yeah, see, we got the muscle and the brains.
Speaker 11 We're gonna get in there, we're gonna make sure the Rikalu aren't in there, and we're gonna bust up Batiste, and we're gonna get your son Vol back all by dinner time. What are you cooking?
Speaker 43 Yeah, dinner time!
Speaker 14 That's amazing.
Speaker 26 I'm quite thrilled.
Speaker 87 I was hoping we'd have dinner together, so that's perfect.
Speaker 33 All right, uh, go about half a day's ride north, past the scrublands, you'll find the lake, and that's where I think he'll be.
Speaker 24 Yeah, I don't want no scrubs.
Speaker 43 Scrubs is the kind of guy who can't get no love from me hey you know the pastor's side the best friends ride trying to holler at me yeah see i don't know this what this song so i can't join in on this you need some tlc in your life brother yeah tender loving cheese
Speaker 16 that's the name of the the the group right yeah tender loving cheese
Speaker 42 anything you want to do before you head off you said uh past the scrublands right yes any uh any foes we should be aware of the scrublands i don't know that area too well.
Speaker 37 Shouldn't come up to much too much trouble in the scrublands, but I would be aware that if there are other people that have heard of this tower, they could be rivals in your venture.
Speaker 20 Okay. And there's no telling what's in the tower.
Speaker 42 Are you also paying them 50 silver a piece? Like, are we uh, you know, kind of combating against some other people you sent off to rescue your son, or are we the only ones?
Speaker 16 No, of course. I want my son to be found.
Speaker 107 Okay.
Speaker 34 If perhaps uh, one of us does not come back, can we split their 50 silver piece as well?
Speaker 26 That is completely up to you.
Speaker 15 Perfect.
Speaker 83 Good to know.
Speaker 43 Why are you looking at me like that?
Speaker 43
Why is everyone staring at me, see? Yeah. Miriam, I got a question for you.
Yes, go ahead. You got any like equipment that you can send us in with us?
Speaker 43 Like some weapons or some potions or something, see?
Speaker 45 You don't have any equipment with you?
Speaker 43 I've got the crossbow and a short sword, but if you want to hook me up for something else, that'd be cool.
Speaker 17 Is there something in particular that you're looking for?
Speaker 43 I don't want to die, and I'm very weak.
Speaker 16 Telling me this now before you go on the venture that you're very weak.
Speaker 43 Yeah, no, I know that you know that I'm weak.
Speaker 43 I'm just saying if you got any medicine, see.
Speaker 39 Don't worry, Billy.
Speaker 43 My boss, Eric, being a red manky, can use it.
Speaker 34 I'll protect you, Billy.
Speaker 11 Just get under, get under my arm here. Yeah, I'll wrap it around you.
Speaker 74 Under your arms.
Speaker 4 I'll hold you tight.
Speaker 87 If the enemies come, I'll put you between me and them.
Speaker 25 Yeah, cuddly and warm. Wait, what?
Speaker 39 Edward Scroll dies to see for luck.
Speaker 72 If Murin happens to have a potion of healing, he does.
Speaker 101 So I will will give you one potion of healing that basically gives you one hit point back.
Speaker 103 Do you have room for that in your equipment?
Speaker 74 I will hold on to that. Okay.
Speaker 109 Oh, actually,
Speaker 34 would I have to drop something else that I have?
Speaker 39 I think y'all started full.
Speaker 47 Is there something that you'd be willing to let go of?
Speaker 34 I have a large sack.
Speaker 34 What's a steel mirror?
Speaker 67 You probably don't need that.
Speaker 95 Steel mirror? It's like clumping around corners and stuff.
Speaker 10 Clicking around corners. Yeah.
Speaker 41 Oh, that sounds pretty cool.
Speaker 43
Chalk. I don't need chalk.
Yeah.
Speaker 84
Quick school. Yeah.
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 67 If you put it somewhere creatively, I'll let you hold on to the potion.
Speaker 43 Well, I got a tail. See?
Speaker 26 There you go.
Speaker 43 Ah, I'm gonna hold on to it with my tail. All right.
Speaker 42 You can also, like, put it in your mouth and pretend it's like one of your teeth.
Speaker 43 Yeah, Jesus for my mouth.
Speaker 26 Excellent for an audio podcast.
Speaker 69 Anything else?
Speaker 34 Did you got any food?
Speaker 112 Uh, sure.
Speaker 26 I mean, yes, I'm, I'm a fellow redenter like yourself.
Speaker 64 I'm, I'm sure you want some brie.
Speaker 74 Uh, yes, I prefer gouda, but brie's fine.
Speaker 84 Oh, let me see if I have some Gouda.
Speaker 60 Oh, Vol must have taken it.
Speaker 34 Benny takes all the Brie and shoves in his mouth. Excellent.
Speaker 17 Hope you enjoy that.
Speaker 16 Voll's got all the Gouda.
Speaker 43 It's all the more reason to go find him, boys. And Muffin, yeah.
Speaker 42 Thanks for being inclusive.
Speaker 44 Yeah, sorry.
Speaker 43 I didn't want his broad generalizations, which is the guy's term.
Speaker 42 Broad generalizations.
Speaker 44 What have I done?
Speaker 79 Miran kind of looks down at his like fake watch on his arm and goes.
Speaker 113 Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 96 All right, you all head out and start heading north, I assume, through the scrublands.
Speaker 11 Yeah, you said it's about a half a day's ride to the north?
Speaker 114 Half a day's ride, yep.
Speaker 74 What are we riding?
Speaker 39 That's the question, what are we riding?
Speaker 23 Yeah.
Speaker 26 Well,
Speaker 96 what do you want to travel by?
Speaker 26 Oh.
Speaker 10 I want to travel by Eric.
Speaker 11 Since we're small, diminutive rats, are there like larger beast of burden rats that we could ride to take us? That's kind of like a...
Speaker 34 That's not how this works. We don't, as humans, ride larger humans.
Speaker 116 Like a secret of NIM kind of thing, how Mrs.
Speaker 11 Frisbee was smaller than the rats of NIM. Like, there's bigger mice or bigger rats that we could be riding.
Speaker 34 Don't mom and possums let their babies hold onto their skin and then they just kind of walk around with them.
Speaker 118 Maybe we could do that.
Speaker 11 Find a possum?
Speaker 34 I've decided Big Benny has a pet cat that he rides.
Speaker 83 Oh. That's pretty tough.
Speaker 119 A big pet cat?
Speaker 34 Yeah, can I have a cat?
Speaker 41 Sure.
Speaker 34 Am I allowed to? Okay, I have a cat.
Speaker 72 What's the cat's name?
Speaker 34 Oh, this is my cat. Funny enough, he's called muffin as well.
Speaker 39 That wouldn't be confusing at all.
Speaker 42 I didn't even know after one.
Speaker 34 It's actually with the p-h.
Speaker 4 P-H-P-H.
Speaker 10 Muffin.
Speaker 83 How about, for sake of confusion, we call them little muffin.
Speaker 22 Yeah, I'll call you little muffin.
Speaker 34 I'll call them a cat muffin.
Speaker 10 No, other way around.
Speaker 11 Yeah, see, our friend is regular size muffin, and the cat's little muffin. See?
Speaker 38 A mini muffin, if you will.
Speaker 36 Mini muffin.
Speaker 11 Fine, fine.
Speaker 38 All right, so I've got someone's riding a cat.
Speaker 79 Another person is riding another person.
Speaker 115 I'm just going to go off on my own.
Speaker 10 I'm going to just run myself.
Speaker 26 She's going to run.
Speaker 23 That's funny. Yeah, that's funny.
Speaker 10 I think Muffin would be very, you know, quick on her feet. Sure.
Speaker 43
Mr. Radmanski, I'll carry you, sir.
Yeah, I'm both real fast.
Speaker 11 See, here's my beast of burden, see?
Speaker 43 Yeah, that's me, beast of burden.
Speaker 10 Yeah, beast of burden, see?
Speaker 11 I like to think Muffin's doing like the Monty Python and the Holy Grail thing where you're running, but you're acting like you're riding a horse.
Speaker 16 I like making the clip-mop sounds.
Speaker 34 That's great. I love it.
Speaker 18 Yeah, so y'all take off through the scrub lands.
Speaker 121 Um, it's early morn at this point.
Speaker 24 Uh, the only kind of rough spot you encounter along the way is a bit of cloud coverage that turns into a bit of a drizzle.
Speaker 78 It's a bit wet along your journey, but as you're making your way kind of past the scrublands, you start to see in the distance on the horizon a lake.
Speaker 122 And as you're getting closer, the clouds sort of part, the rain subsides, and the sun peeks out.
Speaker 72 And it's actually a bright blue sky today.
Speaker 99 You head on towards the lake, I assume?
Speaker 89 Yeah. It's a sign.
Speaker 43 Yeah, see? It's a sign.
Speaker 4 Yeah, a sign.
Speaker 70 One of the things that you recall about that Miran also told you in this like request to go on find his son is that this tower was built by a wizard named Titardinal.
Speaker 30 E-tartenal?
Speaker 86 Titardinal.
Speaker 11 I appreciate the difficulty in spelling everything. That's great.
Speaker 93 Yep.
Speaker 10 Now you know what it's like when we first campaigned.
Speaker 30 This is tough.
Speaker 16 This is tough.
Speaker 60 Funnily enough, I did not come up with that name.
Speaker 23 Yeah, this is pre-written.
Speaker 78 There are some names that I made up in this thing, but this is not one.
Speaker 65 Titardinal's spire was to be his greatest work.
Speaker 38 It's a stone tower crafted as a giant arcanum, granting a great reward to those who unlock its secrets.
Speaker 77 Nobody knows the secrets, though, because Titardinal fell to his death before he could use it.
Speaker 62 As you approach and come to the shore, there's a rowboat, and you can easily start making your way across.
Speaker 70 Who's going to be rowing on the oars?
Speaker 42 Betty, get to it. Who's the strongest?
Speaker 11 Yeah,
Speaker 34 I tie a little muffin to a tree. I say, I say, oh, daddy, you'll be right back, right?
Speaker 4 You say you're talking about me.
Speaker 34 Nope, we've already established this. I wanted to call Lil Muffin, but you said you need to be muffins, so it's a cast of a muffin.
Speaker 42 I'm the OG.
Speaker 115 I'm the OG muffin.
Speaker 26 This is your regular size muffin.
Speaker 34
Yeah, this is your regular size muffin. This is Lil Muffin.
Okay, and Lil Muffin's going to stay here, and I'm going to be right back, okay? Daddy, be right back.
Speaker 34 And I get in the boat, and I just start rowing without even waiting for anybody to get in the boat.
Speaker 10 Muffin takes off and jumps in.
Speaker 11 Yeah, I'll follow Muffin and jump in as well.
Speaker 43 Oh, oh, no, I was petting the little muffin. All right, I'm out of my way.
Speaker 39 I swing into the boat.
Speaker 16 It's just a little rat hand.
Speaker 11 Does Lil Muffin enjoy cheese as well? Do you share any of the brie that you collected?
Speaker 34 No, that's silly. Cats don't eat cheese.
Speaker 43 Dairy's bad for cats. What is wrong with you, Eric? See? Yeah.
Speaker 34 Actually, my girlfriend's cat loves cheese.
Speaker 14 My cat loves butter.
Speaker 45 So there you go.
Speaker 46 I love that you guys.
Speaker 34 Oh, wait, is it vegan butter?
Speaker 44 Vegan butter.
Speaker 16 Yeah. Okay, okay.
Speaker 34 I was going to say, I like the idea that your cat only likes real butter and you guys are vegan.
Speaker 16 You just pack it.
Speaker 26 We have bagels often in our household, and butter is like a constant thing that happens. So yeah, our cat loves to go and try and get the butter.
Speaker 14 Anyway, y'all
Speaker 53 have peaches.
Speaker 112 Yes, peaches.
Speaker 67 You all jump into the boat and start rowing across this massive lake now that you've had a chance to um kind of get closer you can kind of start to make out the form of this tower it's like i said it's five stories tall uh there are individual windows um on each floor sorry from the third floor and above is what i meant there's four on each side in other words cardinal directions uh for each window so there's like a north window an east window south window west window so you said four on each side is it one in each cardinal direction
Speaker 54 one on each side four all around okay got it okay yeah um so there's five levels four windows three doors two roofs and a partridge and a pear tree yeah um each seem to have a chain bolted to their sills like the windowsills and they're dangling down to the window below so like a connecting chain sort of yeah like it's connected to the windowsill and then it's dangling down to the window below that one so if it starts on the third floor does that mean like from the second floor window you could reach the chain to crawl up to the third potentially yeah potentially Okay.
Speaker 18 So the first floor, you can't really seem to reach it unless you have another means of climbing.
Speaker 77 Yeah, lake is all around you.
Speaker 55 You see mountains in the distance.
Speaker 79 The sun is rising to the east.
Speaker 65 The weather seems clear.
Speaker 14 You finally reached the shoreline.
Speaker 108 And what do you want to do first?
Speaker 130 There's also a door at the bottom of this tower.
Speaker 10 I want to hop out of the boat onto the shoreline. Me too.
Speaker 26 I'm following Muffin again.
Speaker 46 Yeah. Come on, Eric.
Speaker 9 It's a good idea.
Speaker 11 Yeah.
Speaker 107 Wait, like, so we're on an island?
Speaker 34 Is that what we're on?
Speaker 60 Yeah. So it's an island in the middle of the the lake, towers on the island.
Speaker 10 And we're at the shore of that tower right now? Yeah, shore of the tower.
Speaker 70 There's a bit of mud and grasslands kind of leading up to this tower and then a door at the bottom.
Speaker 67 Can
Speaker 34 Billy DeRat, can he hop out and then flip the boat over and then cover it with foliage to keep it like hidden, like camouflaged?
Speaker 86 Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 31 You look around and you see there's a few sparse shrubs that are still on this island, but it's full of high grass as well.
Speaker 43 So you start, like, I'm assuming, like, hack away at some of the plants and start covering it with twigs and shrubbery i just don't want nobody stealing our boat see yeah that's a good idea yeah that's true covering it in like shrubs and mud yeah who's mud
Speaker 40 benny goes over and and writes in the mud that's a covering the boat boat here but don't want us to lose it good call that's a great call yeah smart yeah could uh muffin look around to see if there's any sort of like traps or anything like hidden in the grass kind of nearby the door interesting yeah you start start inspecting, kind of looking around, making sure you're taking in your surroundings, seeing if there's anything of mischief.
Speaker 21 And on closer inspection of the shore, you see that there are small barefoot tracks in the mud going in and out, seemingly, of the tower.
Speaker 11 Guys, there's bears here.
Speaker 28 Also, as you're kind of like circling around the tower and checking the walls and stuff, you see that there are holes dug around the perimeter of the tower.
Speaker 8 Several, like just kind of in a circle all around around the tower.
Speaker 34 Like mole holes kind of thing, like just like a hole in the ground or like a trench.
Speaker 54 It looks like they've been filled back in.
Speaker 43 Oh, like maybe someone's looking for like a hidden key or something.
Speaker 58 Oh, maybe, yeah, that's a, that's a good, that's a good point.
Speaker 10 You said barefoot tracks. So are they like humanoid feet?
Speaker 40 Rats or like rat feet?
Speaker 57 Well, when you look at them, you see boot prints.
Speaker 37 So like it's hard to tell.
Speaker 49 Like it would be the same size as you.
Speaker 72 So yeah, humanoid in nature.
Speaker 47 And they're, they're clearly bipedal.
Speaker 8 But difficult to know like what maybe the race or species might be.
Speaker 92 be and do i know what kind of like race the ricolo ricolo is ricola yeah you you have heard of this gang and they're similar to you in that they're rodentia okay yeah
Speaker 42 there's uh there's tracks going in and out of the tower and also all these holes around here maybe they were looking for something yeah uh i did have one point of clarification i wanted to ask about i'm sorry gus is just little yeah gus is little yeah and then just going right into his gus voice to talk
Speaker 13 in-game versus medicine.
Speaker 16 No, I liked it.
Speaker 88 I liked it.
Speaker 102 Yeah.
Speaker 116 How big are the holes?
Speaker 11 Like, we know there's holes there, but like, are they big enough for us to crawl in or are they just like big enough for us to put our hands in?
Speaker 36 Good question.
Speaker 37 Yeah, they're very small, like maybe dug out with either a small spade or even your hands.
Speaker 26 Like very, like, almost like a flower size, kind of like what you'd put into the ground.
Speaker 26 Does that make sense?
Speaker 8 Yeah.
Speaker 118 I have a crowbar.
Speaker 34 Can I like kind of, as safely as possible, just like poke a hole, maybe use the crow.
Speaker 26 Oh, God, what's the hook on a talon?
Speaker 111 Is that what it's called?
Speaker 100 Crowbar? Yeah.
Speaker 34 Yeah. Can I use that to kind of dig out a hole?
Speaker 8 I don't know.
Speaker 43 Yeah, sure. I hope it's not a landmine, but I just kind of want to see what's in these holes.
Speaker 14 Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 66 You can start trying and digging your way through one of the holes.
Speaker 38 Just one of them, I'm guessing.
Speaker 120 Yeah.
Speaker 11 Try it out. Okay, I'll try another one as well.
Speaker 100 Sure.
Speaker 109 Yeah, you both start digging and after like maybe a few minutes of getting some of the dirt and like digging through roots and stuff like that, you come across a single tooth and you both find each a single tooth, like just a normal tooth that you'd find in a humanoid.
Speaker 43 We're here.
Speaker 97 In each hole? Mm-hmm.
Speaker 11 Yeah, someone's trying to grow dentures here.
Speaker 43 There's holes everywhere. It's like twist cheese.
Speaker 42 Yeah. Should we look in the other ones to see if there's teeth in all of these holes? Or I don't know if someone like took other teeth or buried their own teeth in here.
Speaker 42 Maybe they think like the tooth fairy comes to this castle.
Speaker 11
Yeah, I don't know. It kind of creeps me out.
Is that how it works?
Speaker 34 Are you supposed to do that with your teeth? You're supposed to be when you do your teeth.
Speaker 42 I lost all my teeth very young.
Speaker 11 Oh, here, you can have this one. I'll hand muffin the tooth that I have.
Speaker 10 Could I inspect it to see if there's anything special about this tooth?
Speaker 39 Yeah, you can.
Speaker 57 Eric hands you the tooth and you start inspecting it.
Speaker 55 It doesn't look anything remarkable.
Speaker 79 It just looks like any other tooth.
Speaker 41 Maybe it's like a different particular one in the mouth from, say, Billy's tooth, but...
Speaker 10 Is it bloody?
Speaker 77 There would probably be some dried blood at the top, like where it might have met the gum.
Speaker 10 And you said it's a different one than the one that Billy found.
Speaker 21 Yeah, probably from the, like...
Speaker 10 could be from the same species and mouth but it just you know a bicuspid versus you know a molar or something like that yeah i'm just trying to figure out if it's it's maybe like the same creature's teeth all in different holes or if it's from different cultures.
Speaker 41 Yeah.
Speaker 11
Yeah. Worst case scenario, we could say we found volt's teeth.
Yeah. Maybe we'll get 25 silver for that.
Speaker 16 Yeah. Not bad.
Speaker 9 That's a good point.
Speaker 34 So
Speaker 34 you said that they looked like freshly dug. Was that safe to say? Or was it just kind of like it set itself apart from the rest of the land?
Speaker 127 Yeah, if you had to guess, it was probably dug like within the last day or two.
Speaker 23 Okay.
Speaker 34 And then the door. We keep talking about the door, but we haven't like really approached it.
Speaker 16 Yep, there is a door.
Speaker 34 I slam my fist onto the door.
Speaker 15 Oh.

Speaker 34 Heroforge is constantly expanding its catalog of customizable options, adding new parts every week and major features like new species and custom posing on a regular basis.
Speaker 34 So I made a little Chip Haney guy from Campaign 2, and I love him. He's got like the purple skin and he's got the shooty.
Speaker 34 I even was able to find like a way of putting a fanny pack on him, which I don't think it was supposed to be that, but then, you know, they had like a bag and I could just put it on his belt and like position it perfectly.
Speaker 34
He's got jorts. Heroforge has jorts.
Ladies and gentlemen, Hero Forge has jorts. I love my little figurine.
Speaker 34 I have him sitting on my desktop and hopefully if we ever do like a, you know, a tabletop session with him, I'm bringing my little guy.

Speaker 11 That's right.
Speaker 34
Code stinky, S-T-I-N-K-Y. It's all caps here.
You probably don't have to make it all caps, whatever. But you can get 5% off all orders of physical miniatures.
So go check out HeroForge.

Speaker 10 Charlie Sheen is an icon of decadence.
Speaker 137 I lit the fuse and my life turns into everything it wasn't supposed to be.
Speaker 44 He's going the distance.
Speaker 117 He was the highest paid TV star of all time.
Speaker 34 When it started to change, it was quick.
Speaker 117
He kept saying, no, no, no, I'm in the hospital now, but next week I'll be ready for the show. Now, Charlie's sober.
He's going to tell you the truth.
Speaker 137 How do I present this with any class?
Speaker 135 I think we're past that, Charlie.
Speaker 137 We're past that, yeah.
Speaker 59 Somebody call action.
Speaker 138 AKA Charlie Sheen, only on Netflix, September 10th.
Speaker 139 What were you gonna say?
Speaker 34 I was gonna say, like,
Speaker 34 I don't know. Is there anything peculiar about the door? Anything remarkable?
Speaker 65 It's a large double wooden door.
Speaker 34 Okay, and there's no locking mechanism of any sort.
Speaker 62 On the outside, you don't see anything, though.
Speaker 8 Okay.
Speaker 43 Yeah, let's go in. Gang, do you think we should try to just go into this here door?
Speaker 42 Yeah, you want to to try opening it?
Speaker 43 Yeah, what the heck? Oh, Eric, do you want me to open the door?
Speaker 8 Yeah, go for it.
Speaker 43 Ah, boss says, open the door. I gotta open the door.
Speaker 133 I open the door.
Speaker 96 All right.
Speaker 114 You open the door and it unlocks, swings wide, and yeah, you can kind of see inside now.
Speaker 141 Do you, where do you, what do you want to do?
Speaker 8 I'll shove a billy aside and step in.
Speaker 34 Oh, I thought you were gonna shove it in, I kind of wanted you to.
Speaker 26 All right, so Eric steps in first. Is that what I hear? Yes.
Speaker 52 Okay, you enter a large stone hall filled with iron gibbets.
Speaker 41 These are like cages that are dangling from the ceiling, and they're each filled with bodies that have been long decayed.
Speaker 139 Oh, there looks to be about six of them splayed out in this hall.
Speaker 10 Could I go up to one of them and see if they're missing teeth?
Speaker 60 Boom. I see the same thing.
Speaker 18 As you and Eric, as Muffin and Eric walk in, just as soon as you step in, you notice something on the floor.
Speaker 18 You see a special tile that is ahead of you, and it begins to glow, and it seems like it's slightly depressed into the ground almost like a shallow bowl.
Speaker 11 You gotta get it some Prozac
Speaker 120 and that
Speaker 60 tile is an etched number and it says one like the number one and seemingly at the same time a spark of light appears over each of your heads.
Speaker 42 Huh. Did you just get a good idea?
Speaker 103 What's going on?
Speaker 101 And I'm sorry, you said you wanted to look at something in there.
Speaker 10 Yeah, I don't know if we are like close enough to these hanging cages to see or if like we could see the mouths of these bodies.
Speaker 10 I know that's kind of gross, but like to see if they're missing any teeth.
Speaker 62 Yeah, you go and inspect any body, in particular just any of them.
Speaker 10 The closest one.
Speaker 110 Yeah, sure.
Speaker 140 You come to the closest one and they look like they've been decayed for a long time.
Speaker 56 Some of them are missing teeth, some of them aren't.
Speaker 77 And as you're inspecting this one that you're nearby, the skull that is on top of this body is adorned with a dusty but ornate mask and the mask is covered in you can only guess they're like tongue like symbols like symbols that are meant to represent a tongue a tongue
Speaker 34 tongue yeah that's what you find in the first one at least okay when uh muffin moved over to inspect the cage did muffin change position on that tile like did muffin step off of it She didn't step on it necessarily.
Speaker 62 It was just like the first thing you see when you come in and you kind of notice it as you come in because it's maybe you're looking up and then like kind of glance down.
Speaker 34 Oh, so it's depressed on its own and it's lit up and there's a light above.
Speaker 95 Yeah, she didn't depress it.
Speaker 41 It just already
Speaker 10 and there's just a glowing light above me and Eric's head.
Speaker 26 Yeah, like a small moat spark of light.
Speaker 48 Regarding the glowing light, are
Speaker 34 glowing lights like identical or are they different colors? Are there different numbers or anything noticeable between the four of us?
Speaker 26 So all of you step in?
Speaker 34 Yeah, we haven't stepped in. The only people who said they stepped in were Eric and Muffin.
Speaker 8 Oh, I'll step in. Yeah.
Speaker 16
Big Muffin. Okay.
Yeah.
Speaker 127 Spark of light appears right over you.
Speaker 67 And to answer your question, they look all the same, like similar size.
Speaker 38 They look just like a small spark of light, almost like either a moat or like what you'd imagine in movies like a fairy might look like or something like that.
Speaker 8 But it's it's not doesn't have any particular shape to it.
Speaker 26 It's just like kind of an orb of light.
Speaker 10 Is it telling us to, hey, listen?
Speaker 60 Funnily enough, my voicemail ringtone is like, hey, listen.
Speaker 22 Oh, really? That's how annoying.
Speaker 10 I don't know how you get annoying, but I'd be like, shut up.
Speaker 11 Can I go up to that tile, that depressed tile, and stomp on it?
Speaker 97 Sure. Yeah, you go up and step on it.
Speaker 5 No, stomp.
Speaker 30 I'm very clear. Sorry, stomp on it.
Speaker 26 Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 10 Sorry. My mistake.
Speaker 16 He does a stomp routine really quick.
Speaker 43 Beating the wall is down, see? Yeah, I'll try to beat it.
Speaker 122 A voice comes through the hall and says, to the left this time.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 26 No, nothing seems to happen other than like it kind of echoes in the hall.
Speaker 34
Benny wants to go over. Benny wants to walk in.
Yeah. So does Benny get his own light as well?
Speaker 86 Yeah, Benny walks in.
Speaker 59 He has a light that comes over him.
Speaker 114 Okay.
Speaker 110 And I'll also say that now that you've kind of had, you've all four have had a chance to kind of look look around, you notice that there are a few egresses out of this hall, a few ways that are in different directions.
Speaker 135 So those are exits.
Speaker 129 I'll pause right here and also say that you might want to keep track of where you go from here.
Speaker 34 So we're in this room. What's the shape of this room?
Speaker 108 You're coming in from the east.
Speaker 29 Okay.
Speaker 65 And it's mostly a rectangular hall.
Speaker 94 I'll just keep it simple.
Speaker 84 It's very rectangular and it's pretty tall as well.
Speaker 10 So is it like long ways rectangular from where we're standing or like rectangular wide?
Speaker 38 Yeah, rectangular down the way you're looking.
Speaker 34 Okay. Like from east to west.
Speaker 11
I'm just going to warn you now. I'm picking up my phone.
I'm not using it. I'm drawing.
I'm going to be. If you see me using my phone, I'm drawing a map so I can keep track of what we're doing.
Speaker 133 Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 34 Benny wants to go over to the same skeleton that Muffin was looking at in the cage.
Speaker 34 Is it reachable? Like, could you reach your hand into the cage?
Speaker 15 Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 93 They're like only dangling maybe a foot or so above the ground.
Speaker 34 Can I lift the mask off of the skull?
Speaker 16 Sure.
Speaker 34 Okay, and is it a rodentia skull?
Speaker 83 Oh, is the skull itself?
Speaker 34 Is like the skeleton rodentia in biological nature.
Speaker 8 Yeah, this one seems to be.
Speaker 15 Okay.
Speaker 34 Can I tear one of the teeth out?
Speaker 100 Sure, yeah.
Speaker 26 Do you just use your fingers?
Speaker 79 Are you using something in particular?
Speaker 34 Oh, actually, I have iron tongs.
Speaker 23 Okay.
Speaker 16 Gross.
Speaker 120 Yeah. So let me get this straight.
Speaker 31 You lift the mask of tongues and pull out your tongs.
Speaker 60 Yeah. Oh.
Speaker 34 And I just reach in there. It's just check it wrong.
Speaker 34 And he pulls out a tooth.
Speaker 54 Just a bit of dentistry.
Speaker 5 Just a bit of dentistry.
Speaker 34 And then Benny proceeds to go outside, dig a hole, and put the tooth in it.
Speaker 45 Okay.
Speaker 30 Yeah.
Speaker 39 I'll say that takes you a few minutes to go and do that.
Speaker 110 But
Speaker 59 what does everybody else want to do in this room?
Speaker 11 I'd like to count the number of egresses and see how many they are and where they are.
Speaker 30 There's three? Three?
Speaker 60 No, there's actually two egresses out of this place.
Speaker 26 Sorry, we got caught up in the map thing.
Speaker 23 What's an egress?
Speaker 113 It's an exit.
Speaker 16 Thank you.
Speaker 77 I say that because they're not always doors.
Speaker 110 Okay.
Speaker 15 So for instance, the one to the south is a corridor that leads to a room that smells of a bonfire.
Speaker 120 So that's what you can tell from right here.
Speaker 84 It smells like a bonfire.
Speaker 133 To the west is a door off its hinges, like kind of on the floor, crooked, and it leads to another room that doesn't seem to have any particular senses to it at this point.
Speaker 59 Okay. It doesn't seem to trigger any senses.
Speaker 10
I should have used a bigger piece of paper to draw this. I'm at the edge already.
I'm like, oh no, a room to the west.
Speaker 16 No more room on the west.
Speaker 128 One last thing I'll give y'all is that as you're kind of looking around, you notice that the ceiling is like I said, it's really high above you.
Speaker 141 And you notice a hole in the center of the ceiling, maybe 30 feet up.
Speaker 115 It looks kind of like a chute, like a hole that a chute is going up past the ceiling.
Speaker 10 So like things would have been coming potentially down it potentially and then you said there are six cages of dangling bodies, right?
Speaker 10 What is the like orientation of them throughout the room like is it like two rows of three or is it just random?
Speaker 31 It's pretty scattered There's kind of three towards the front and then two in the back.
Speaker 30 Okay. Okay.
Speaker 85 They don't look like they were hung in any particular way.
Speaker 8 So there's five total?
Speaker 65 Sorry, there are six.
Speaker 126 I don't have the six one on here, but there are six on here. Okay.
Speaker 34
We've mentioned like this is the tongue one. We haven't really looked at the other masks on the other cages.
Can we like inspect those? Oh, could I also have taken the mask?
Speaker 119 Yeah, I assumed you you wanted to take the mask, right?
Speaker 34 Yeah, I took the mask. Okay.
Speaker 74 Yeah, and I'm holding that.
Speaker 110 Mark it as mask tongues or something like that.
Speaker 11 Before we look at the other ones, Blaine, there was just one last thing I wanted to circle back on. Those were the only two exits out of the room, to the west and the south?
Speaker 60 Yeah, other than the one you came from.
Speaker 81 Okay, yeah.
Speaker 11
Great, great. So make sure.
Thank you. Sorry.
Speaker 89 Nothing. Sure.
Speaker 77 Billy, you wanted to look at the other one of the other bodies?
Speaker 34 Yes, but before I get too far from that, the exit or the entrance that we came in from, is that north or east?
Speaker 72
That's east. East.
Came in east. east.
Speaker 26 There's an exit to the south and west.
Speaker 34 Trying to get my mapping skills.
Speaker 58 Trying to get your bearings.
Speaker 34 There you go.
Speaker 30 Yeah, that's pretty close.
Speaker 70 Looking at a map that goes.
Speaker 9 This is what mine looks like.
Speaker 30 That's similar. Yeah.
Speaker 133 Worked him on it.
Speaker 107 We're all on the same page, more or less.
Speaker 34 There you go. Is there anything peculiar about the inside of the mask if I look at it?
Speaker 77 Like I said, it's a bit dusty. It's ornate.
Speaker 31 It's kind of carved with these tongue-like symbols.
Speaker 34 I put it on.
Speaker 59 Yeah.
Speaker 30 Okay.
Speaker 26 Roll for a new character.
Speaker 131 As you put it on, you feel a surge of ethereal magical energy kind of course through your own mouth.
Speaker 23 Ooh.
Speaker 114 So one thing you should know about old school role-playing games is that the longer you spend in a room, the more chance there's going to be things that will happen.
Speaker 26 Oh, I didn't know that.
Speaker 62 Other creatures may find you.
Speaker 120 Other things may...
Speaker 114 This is a living ecosystem kind of thing.
Speaker 10 We are screwed.
Speaker 16 I'm going to roll right now.
Speaker 129 And I'll be honest with you if, like, something happens or not.
Speaker 16 Okay.
Speaker 62 As you put on this mask, I'll kind of conclude that first.
Speaker 115 You, like I said, you have a feel surge through your mouth and you feel like you might be able to speak in other languages now.
Speaker 15 Oh,
Speaker 34 boy, mate. I'll feel smart.
Speaker 66 As you do that, it's just by chance that you start hearing voices actually.
Speaker 39 Not just you, but everybody starts hearing these big, deep voices kind of cascading, echoing through the chamber.
Speaker 122 And you can't tell exactly where they might be coming from.
Speaker 139 It could be to the, maybe to the south, and it sounds like they may be like singing a song like,
Speaker 42 the voices of an angel.
Speaker 43 I love this song. One of my favorites.
Speaker 11 It's the choir nerds.
Speaker 23 Let's go get them.
Speaker 23 Yeah.
Speaker 10 Are the bodies in this room wearing masks as well, or is it just that one?
Speaker 93 Yeah, let's go back to Billy.
Speaker 60 I think you were looking at one of them, right?
Speaker 69 Yeah, I guess that are.
Speaker 124 So yeah, both you and Muffin start looking around, I I guess, at these other cages.
Speaker 122 And the other things you find in the cages, there's one that seems to be holding a small pewter scroll case.
Speaker 98 I'm going to grab that.
Speaker 124 That's all you find on actually the rest of the six is those two things, the mask and the small pewter scroll case.
Speaker 88 All right.
Speaker 34 Billy would like to grab that. Sure.
Speaker 31 Do you want to look at it or just hold on to it for now?
Speaker 39 I'll inspect it.
Speaker 24
Open it. Open it.
Open it.
Speaker 34 Open it. I realize that I have it in my hands when I open it.
Speaker 10 you're you're so used to other people doing things yeah just like
Speaker 104 yeah you open it up and you see there's a actually a message excuse me i said that really a message inside massage a message from the ancestor of a nearby ruler looks like it says king oswald and they seem to be begging t tardinal to give up his mad project it's really confusing and the only thing you can make out is that he wants him to like return to his seat by the throne some sort of advisor So, does this imply that T.
Speaker 10 Tardinal was like an advisor to a king kind of thing? Kind of sounds like it, yeah.
Speaker 34 He's off doing his little spire, and the king didn't want him to, maybe.
Speaker 9 Yeah, and who sent that again?
Speaker 74 King Oswald.
Speaker 83 King Oswald, yeah.
Speaker 29 He's asleep upstairs right now.
Speaker 45 For God's dog.
Speaker 10 Oh, yeah, keep dogs' names awful.
Speaker 22 He is King Oswald.
Speaker 34 A lot of people don't know this, but August is a huge penguin fan from Batman.
Speaker 71 As you all are kind of inspecting these cages, the doors that you came through suddenly slam.
Speaker 47 Maybe it could have been the wind.
Speaker 81 Maybe it's maybe it's something else.
Speaker 31 You're not sure.
Speaker 62 And you start hearing thumping sounds coming from the south.
Speaker 98 Like big boom, boom, boom.
Speaker 10
Let's go get it. Some place where the singing was happening.
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 93 You seem to think so.
Speaker 60 I guess where it was coming from.
Speaker 59 Was it a bonfire room too? Yeah.
Speaker 10 Yeah. Could Muffin kind of sneak around like the door down the hall and like see if she sees anything?
Speaker 29 To the south, you mean?
Speaker 25 To the south, yeah.
Speaker 79 Uh, yeah, there's no door.
Speaker 141 Uh, you just see a corridor.
Speaker 26 Yeah, I meant the like archway.
Speaker 25 Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 72 You kind of like peek peek around the corner of the archway and you're trying to see what's down the hall.
Speaker 26 Yeah.
Speaker 14 You can't see anything yet.
Speaker 108 All you can hear, like as you get closer, is like thumping of big feet.
Speaker 64 That's all you can imagine.
Speaker 70 It's like these huge feet are just stomping down the hallway.
Speaker 42 Okay, so I don't know if we should go that way. Maybe we should go to the west.
Speaker 84 Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 118 Sounds like a plan. Yeah.
Speaker 10 Big scary noises. But also, I want to say that nobody heard her because she whispers.
Speaker 11 So you said that, but nobody really hears it.
Speaker 10 At that point, she runs to each of you and goes, I think we should go to the west.
Speaker 42 I think we should go to the west. I think we should go to the west.
Speaker 30 Yeah.
Speaker 11 Lead the way, regular-sized muffin.
Speaker 132 Y'all head west towards that door off its hinges, and you enter a narrow corridor lined with six stone rooms.
Speaker 134 So it looks like you enter one of the rooms itself.
Speaker 79 So this is one of the six, and in the middle is like a hallway, and spidering off that hallway are five other ones.
Speaker 91 so like three on each side kind of thing um i'll give you more directions in a second but i'm going to describe this first room as you enter you notice a similar depressed tile in the center of the room and it has the number two oh we're going we're going in the right way
Speaker 4 let's go yeah yeah see where's it st.
Speaker 10 page same page yeah yeah do we still have lights above us you actually do you all four still have a spark of light above you but not two just can benny like reach up at and try to grab it sure uh and to answer your question muffin uh you just have one each of you have one at this point point.
Speaker 102 Big Benny, you try to swipe at one of your spark of light and your hand goes right through it.
Speaker 26 But you feel a little cold mist as you kind of swat through it.
Speaker 94 Okay.
Speaker 93 So you come into this room and there seems to be a hallway right in front of you that goes north and south.
Speaker 47 So you've come west and now you're hitting a hallway 18 intersections going north and south.
Speaker 71 And all along on either side of that north and south are three rooms on each side.
Speaker 120 You're in the middle of the right side, if that makes sense, the eastern side.
Speaker 71 Gotcha.
Speaker 10 And you said there's three rooms north, three rooms south.
Speaker 122 Three rooms to the west, three rooms to the east.
Speaker 70 Hallway running north and south.
Speaker 11 We came out of the middle on the east side.
Speaker 34
Correct. Oh, okay.
We came out of one of the sides.
Speaker 10
So we came out of one of the rooms. Yeah.
Okay. And was the number two in that hallway or was it like in the corridor? Corridor.
Speaker 54 So as you go into the room, they see the two.
Speaker 120 As you exit that room, you see this hallway.
Speaker 10 And was the room we came out of, like if there's like three down, were we in like the middle one coming out or top or bottom? The middle one.
Speaker 16 Middle.
Speaker 52 Okay.
Speaker 34 Could Benny turn around and try and pick up the door that was off the hinges and like try to jam it back into the hole that it was pulled off of?
Speaker 39 Yeah, I'll say we'll make our first roll just for fun because we haven't rolled anything.
Speaker 4 Yay!
Speaker 71 So roll 2d6 and add your strength modifier.
Speaker 26 Ooh, good roll.
Speaker 129 Because you're trying to like kind of brawn your way into slamming this door back into place.
Speaker 34 That is 11 plus 213.
Speaker 79 Yep. Above a 10, you succeed.
Speaker 121 So you grab it.
Speaker 72 It's kind of like dangling with hand.
Speaker 64 It's really rusty and with no problem whatsoever.
Speaker 86 It feels like it's made of paper.
Speaker 26 You just slam it into the wall and it just perfectly aligns with the archway around it.
Speaker 34 Nice. Benny just kind of turns around and goes, yeah.
Speaker 34 So you do it.
Speaker 29 Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 34 I also dust off my hands.
Speaker 74 Yeah.
Speaker 11 Dentist and a carpenter. What can't Benny do, yeah?
Speaker 85 So yeah, you're kind of in this hallway.
Speaker 120 You see six or five other rooms, six total.
Speaker 105 To the north, the hallway keeps going going to another room that kind of smells a bit like a wharf.
Speaker 16 A dwarf? A Klingon? Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 47 Those are the two things you kind of see right now are all these rooms and another way out north.
Speaker 11 And that's one of the doors? Or is that a separate exit?
Speaker 119 It's just the hallway keeps going north.
Speaker 10
Gotcha. Okay.
What and not south?
Speaker 110 It doesn't go south.
Speaker 29 It just has those six rooms that you can see right now.
Speaker 10 So it's kind of like a dead end at the other end of the hall.
Speaker 92 Seems like it. Okay.
Speaker 11
From what you can see. I'd like to enter the hall and immediately take a left left and try to open the door at the southeast corner.
So, like when we came in, the one to our left.
Speaker 38
Yeah. Gotcha.
Yeah.
Speaker 26 So one thing you notice right away, none of these rooms have doors on them.
Speaker 15 Oh, just egresses.
Speaker 87 I'm just going to bravely walk in then.
Speaker 120 To the southeast, you said?
Speaker 83 Southwest? Yes. Yeah.
Speaker 46 So we can do a little turn.
Speaker 84 Southeast. Like a U-turn kind of thing.
Speaker 16 Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 79 Yeah.
Speaker 14 You walk into a chamber with two windows in the walls.
Speaker 79 One window is to the east, another one's to the north.
Speaker 128 Each has a chain bolted onto its windowsill.
Speaker 79 A nearly naked rodentia corpse is sitting on the floor, leaning its helmeted head, so it's got a helmet over its head, against the north windowsill.
Speaker 43 Got you with your pants down, see? Yeah.
Speaker 32 A crude knife seems to be plunged into his stomach.
Speaker 70 Seems to be a male, from what you can tell.
Speaker 122 And a trail of blood drips along the floor to and from the eastern windowsill.
Speaker 11 I would like to approach the eastern windowsill and try to look out of it.
Speaker 78 You look out the eastern windowsill, and you start to get confused and a little bit a vertigo or something.
Speaker 38 It doesn't make sense.
Speaker 54 You should be on the first floor, but you're looking like if you're in your third floor.
Speaker 9 Gotcha. Huh.
Speaker 115 Did we go up somehow?
Speaker 55 From what you can tell, like you just walked straight.
Speaker 122 You didn't elevate or descend.
Speaker 80 You just stayed in the same plane.
Speaker 43 Hey, boss, the third floor's got those chains on the windows. Maybe we could climb up.
Speaker 11 Yeah, get out there and do your best climbing.
Speaker 48 Yeah, you got it, boss.
Speaker 43 Yeah.
Speaker 8 I'll go up and I'll climb.
Speaker 34 I'll see if I can climb from that window up to the next one.
Speaker 39 Because these have the chains on the windowsills, correct? Correct.
Speaker 110 Okay.
Speaker 8 What I'll do is, since it's a little high up, it's a little risky, but it has a chain, so I'm going to give you advantage.
Speaker 79 And you're going to do a strength check to just with advantage.
Speaker 88 So 3d6, and you take the two that are the highest rolls.
Speaker 43 Three and a six.
Speaker 88 Plus. Yeah, plus.
Speaker 8 Oh, plus one.
Speaker 34 So 10.
Speaker 30 10.
Speaker 26 Just made it.
Speaker 11 So you did roll 3d6, right? It was 3 and a 6?
Speaker 109 Yeah, I rolled a 3, a 6, and a 1.
Speaker 39 Just because I was moving a 1.
Speaker 93 Gotcha, gotcha. Cool.
Speaker 60 Yeah, so you climb out the eastern windowsill.
Speaker 91 You're three stories up, it seems.
Speaker 131 You start grabbing onto the chains, and are you just like arming this thing?
Speaker 68 Are you like using your feet to kind of shimmy your way up?
Speaker 120 What are you doing?
Speaker 29 Yeah.
Speaker 34 Let me see if I have anything that's relevant to this.
Speaker 8 Yeah.
Speaker 53 Yeah, no,
Speaker 34 I guess I'm doing that thing, you know, where you like lock your feet so that you can kind of like heft up to the next armhold, you know?
Speaker 34 I mean, rats can have, you know, they have like pretty good dexterity with their feet.
Speaker 93 Yeah.
Speaker 26 Yeah, so you start climbing.
Speaker 43 Climbing, yeah.
Speaker 134 All right.
Speaker 26 You reach another windowsill on the fourth floor now, is that right?
Speaker 4 Yeah.
Speaker 26 You're going up?
Speaker 8 Yes, yes, yes. Okay.
Speaker 56 And you come in, you like kind of like peer in, and before you enter, you see that it's some sort of study.
Speaker 41 And there's books and shelves of dozen tomes or so.
Speaker 139 Tons of sketches kind of sprawled out along this room littered on the floor. Do you notice that there is in the corner corner another one of those depressed tiles and it has the number 22?
Speaker 4 Oh no!
Speaker 43 We jumped ahead a little bit, you see? Yeah, I have a lot of nerdy stuff in here.
Speaker 64 I'll also say I didn't mention this, but as you entered this southeast room, Eric and Billy, the spark of lights above your heads, don't come with you.
Speaker 125 They seem to stay in the hallway.
Speaker 4 Oh.
Speaker 43
What are we doing in there? Wait, weren't you afraid to come in here? Come on. Oh, we lost the spark, boss.
Oh.
Speaker 87 Wait, are you actually with me?
Speaker 26 No, you climb.
Speaker 16 No, I'm still.
Speaker 34 Yeah, I imagine I'm just looking out the window at you.
Speaker 93 Okay.
Speaker 11 So I can see you. We can talk, but yeah, we're not like right by each other.
Speaker 34 All right. I
Speaker 34 communicate all the information.
Speaker 43
Bunch of nerdy stuff. I was number 22 on the crown, and I lost my spark.
I ain't got no sparks, see?
Speaker 43 What do I do, boss? I'm scared.
Speaker 11 I've got an idea of what I want to do, but I don't want to like steal the show from Muffin and Benny if they have any ideas if they want to do anything while we're doing this.
Speaker 10 Well, I was going to say you might want to try to find a chute and go back to the start to go back down to the first room because it did have that chute shoot going down.
Speaker 71 I don't think I told you this as well, but when you came into that first room with the two windowsills, it had the number 23 written on it.
Speaker 11 Oh, that was the one with the decaying corpse?
Speaker 29 Corpse. Correct.
Speaker 129 And then you climbed up, Billy, and you found 22.
Speaker 34 The party is split three ways right now, so Benny's going to help us a little bit and join the corpse room.
Speaker 11
Okay. In that case, I'm going to yell up to Billy, hey, hang out for a sec.
You got a boss. And I want to go peek out the north window and see what I see from the north window.
Speaker 134 Yes, as you're approaching the north window, you start to hear that same pounding of feet coming closer down the hallway.
Speaker 11 The hallway where Muffin is?
Speaker 15 Correct.
Speaker 59 Let's jump back to...
Speaker 102 You're in 23, correct?
Speaker 30 Correct. Yeah.
Speaker 88 Okay.
Speaker 140 You look north and...
Speaker 31 Again, disorientation kind of takes over your senses and you're looking from the fifth floor.
Speaker 60 But not just that, you should be looking north, but you don't recognize it as the same direction.
Speaker 57 It looks like it's actually the opposite direction south.
Speaker 34 I think we might be in a maze.
Speaker 26 No.
Speaker 43 Real confusing.
Speaker 68 As you all are kind of reeling from this, this realization,
Speaker 15 you hear these stomping feet coming down the hall from kind of the western direction, about across from 23.
Speaker 61 And what do you want to do?
Speaker 34
So Muffin's in that hallway. Yeah.
And they're stomping coming from that west way.
Speaker 10 Yeah, I was coming in through that corridor where the two was. You guys went into that hallway and turned around.
Speaker 93 Yeah, so from like the southwest is where this these feet are coming from.
Speaker 10
Southwest. Okay.
Could I like, without going into the rooms, kind of like look into them to see if I see any other numbers on the floor?
Speaker 86 You do. I'll give you this.
Speaker 140 You go through each room and starting from top left.
Speaker 104 to top right, so northwest to northeast.
Speaker 56 You have four at the northwest, three at the northeast, coming down out of the, into the middle.
Speaker 57 You have five on the west side, two on the eastern side, which is the one you came through first.
Speaker 114 You go down to the bottom level, six on the southwestern side, and 23 on the southeastern side.
Speaker 115 In four and three, those are the northern ones, they each have a window as well.
Speaker 70 And you notice that they're heading in different directions on different levels.
Speaker 10 Gotcha. So there's some type of weird
Speaker 88 portaling. Yeah.
Speaker 110 Who's in 23 right now?
Speaker 83 I'm in 23.
Speaker 30 Eric.
Speaker 43 Yeah, 23 and me.
Speaker 81 You came back down?
Speaker 43 No, no, no. He's just confusing it.
Speaker 34 He's making a joke.
Speaker 43 I'm making a joke. Ah, you know, I'm a bit of a joker.
Speaker 11 Yeah, I'm standing by the northern window looking out. I had yelled at Billy to maintain his position up there, and I think Benny came into 23 with me.
Speaker 43 Billy's still holding perfectly still.
Speaker 102 Benny, as you're looking around, you notice that this rodentia corpse
Speaker 110 has
Speaker 26 something holding, he's holding his hands, like grasping it tight.
Speaker 30 I look at what he's holding in his hand.
Speaker 122 It looks like a torn piece of blue fabric.
Speaker 55 And just as you're looking at it, it kind of like not disappears.
Speaker 122 It's not invisible, but you can't seem to find it anymore.
Speaker 15 Huh?
Speaker 34 I tried to reach out where it was in the hand that I just saw it in.
Speaker 59 Yeah, you reach out for it and you kind of find the arm.
Speaker 72 You start making your way up, and you can feel it, but you can't like visually see it anymore.
Speaker 59 Like it should be there, but it's not like for some reason your eyes can't find it.
Speaker 34 This is very confusing to me.
Speaker 43 Bulk of invisibility, see?
Speaker 51 Yeah.
Speaker 34 I grab what I can't see and I pull it as hard as I can out of the hand.
Speaker 122 Yeah, you pull it out of the hand, and as you look down at your hand, like your vision kind of like unfocuses, focuses, tries to find it, and you can like sometimes catch glimpses of it, but then other times it's just like it's not there at all.
Speaker 34 How big of a fabric is it?
Speaker 52 Very small piece of torn.
Speaker 74 Okay, little scrap.
Speaker 34 If I take the scrap and I put it over my eye and I look at Eric,
Speaker 34 does he disappear? What happens? What do I see?
Speaker 123 Yeah, you're not seeing through anything, but you're just seeing, it's almost like you have an eye patch over your eye now.
Speaker 10 Ask Eric what he sees. What?
Speaker 34 Hey, Eric, what you see over my eye right now?
Speaker 11 I turn around and look at Benny, annoyed. What do I see?
Speaker 32 You see him holding up his arms and you're having a hard time seeing what he's actually holding.
Speaker 78 Is he covering his eye?
Speaker 79 Is his hand masking his face?
Speaker 86 Like, you're not sure.
Speaker 11 So can I see his eye through it?
Speaker 34 You can't. So what does he see?
Speaker 34 Does he see blackness or like the wall behind me or no like i said he sees you like holding up something and he can't tell if it's like your hand covering your face or if he's holding something it's hard to focus on it
Speaker 43 okay it's very confusing hey billy benny lost his eye yeah oh my god what's going on down there where's your eye benny do you want to come back down do you want to come back yeah come back okay i'm gonna deal with this a little bit later and i put the piece of fabric in my pocket Okay, and I'll say, Billy, you've come back down, no problem.
Speaker 83 Yeah, see.
Speaker 34 And while I'm there, there was a knife in the corpse.
Speaker 94 Yeah, there's a knife in the corpse.
Speaker 11 I
Speaker 41 was also wearing a helmet, just a reminder.
Speaker 34 I checked the helmet.
Speaker 15 I'm not trying to sway you.
Speaker 64 I'm just trying to make sure you remember all the details.
Speaker 34 I like that you're bending down as if you're going for the knife and then an inch away. You switch over to the helmet.
Speaker 39 Your other hand is reaching for the other thing.
Speaker 134 Yeah, so you go for the helmet, I'm hearing?
Speaker 15 Yeah.
Speaker 16 Okay.
Speaker 119 Yeah, you go for the helmet, and it's kind of like the knight helmets, but it's flat down covering his face.
Speaker 132 What do you want to do with it?
Speaker 34 I lift the visor up.
Speaker 101 You lift the visor up and it's the strangest thing.
Speaker 121 It's the same phenomenon that you had with this piece of fabric you saw.
Speaker 34 Is it feminine omen?
Speaker 56 You should be seeing this person's face,
Speaker 108 but it's like a square is kind of covering it, but you can't tell like what it's made of.
Speaker 133 Weird.
Speaker 34 Okay.
Speaker 89 What do you want to do?
Speaker 34 I'm going to go with Benny. He punches the face just to see what happens.
Speaker 16 Okay.
Speaker 93 Yeah.
Speaker 87 You punch the face and whatever this is falls down and um into like maybe the corpse's lap kind of on on yeah towards the floor and you start to get a better vision of it for whatever reason you disrupted something that made it kind of more visible and it looks like a blueprint Billy wants to join he starts kicking the body yeah
Speaker 27 you start kicking the body and it's like jostling and it kind of slides down the windowsill onto the floor.
Speaker 43 That's right. Yeah.
Speaker 26 You showed him. And also, as this thing falls off the face, you recognize this person, this corpse.
Speaker 30 Oh.
Speaker 67 From a description that Murin gave you.
Speaker 15 Uh-oh. You think this is Vol.
Speaker 34 Oh, no.
Speaker 113 I just, what's this?
Speaker 22 And you've been kicking on the ground.
Speaker 16 Make it a compliment, boys and girls.
Speaker 26 Let's kill back and get our money.
Speaker 10 So, Vol is the missing son.
Speaker 103 Yes.
Speaker 10 That clearly looks
Speaker 10 very passed away.
Speaker 103 Like 24 hours passed away?
Speaker 109 Yeah, it doesn't look like a skeleton or anything.
Speaker 65 Just clearly is deceased.
Speaker 104 Clearly has been plunged with a knife
Speaker 70 and is nearly naked.
Speaker 34 I just won't be clear. He was dead before I punched him, okay?
Speaker 52 Hold on.
Speaker 34 The blueprint was in front of his face inside the mask. Yep.
Speaker 34 Okay,
Speaker 34 I just realized that weirdness of it.
Speaker 43 Snear-sided, see?
Speaker 16 See? Just
Speaker 34 inside his biker helmet.
Speaker 10 Is the piece of fabric you got part of that blueprint?
Speaker 14 You can compare the two if you want.
Speaker 15 Yeah.
Speaker 34 is Muffin gonna join us?
Speaker 10 No,
Speaker 26 so let me resolve something.
Speaker 34 I'm gonna look at this blueprint, but I want to know what Muffin's doing.
Speaker 130 Let me resolve something real quick.
Speaker 79 As you're looking at this blueprint, you see something written in blood in the corner, and it's the words Rikalu
Speaker 81 Invisib, and then it kind of trails off.
Speaker 10 Okay, I think I know what that means.
Speaker 34 And Rikalu is the leader of the pastis.
Speaker 48 No, no, that's they're the gang, they're the gang.
Speaker 34 Pastise is the leader of the Recalou. They might be.
Speaker 10 Invisible.
Speaker 26 Yeah.
Speaker 10 They're probably wearing whatever this fabric piece you got was.
Speaker 103 Oh.
Speaker 128 So you have this fabric piece that you're looking at and comparing it to this blueprint.
Speaker 94 And it dawns on you that they're both, like as you get glimpses of both, they're both blue, but they keep kind of shifting out of perspective.
Speaker 31 And I'm going to send you all something in Slack.
Speaker 11 All right, boys, let's grab bowl and get out of here and get our money.
Speaker 16 Zip that's up.
Speaker 10 Mission accomplished.
Speaker 118 Billy, pick him up. Let's go.
Speaker 43 Yeah, yeah, I'll pick him up. Yeah.
Speaker 34 You tell Billy to pick him up and not Benny the giant rat?
Speaker 87 Well, Benny's got his hands full with the blueprints.
Speaker 23 Oh, wow.
Speaker 43 I was right-handed guy. What's the matter, see?
Speaker 120 So, as you're looking at this blueprint, you see that it's the entire layout of this tower.
Speaker 119 And it really doesn't make sense how this is built because it should just be up and down.
Speaker 25 There are chambers all over the place of various sizes, heights, and it it seems like it's been marked out to have all these numbers that you keep finding on the floor, like where they might be located and what might be inhabiting some of these rooms, at least at the time of his exploration.
Speaker 43 Gee whiz, my map was all sorts of wrong. Wow!
Speaker 11
I do want to say I'm pretty happy. My map is pretty close, but this is mind-bending a bit.
Oi, Maffin, we found a map.
Speaker 42 Yeah, but I found the numbers. So why didn't she get back down here? We probably have to go in order.
Speaker 34 Get back down?
Speaker 10
I'm still like where we came came out. And you guys went.
Down the hall, she means.
Speaker 30 No, we're still on the same level.
Speaker 76 Yeah.
Speaker 24 Oh, okay.
Speaker 43
This here picture shows a bunch of storks and birds. That seems kind of fun.
Maybe we want to go to novel number nine.
Speaker 34 To be clear, I'll pick up Vole and I'll walk out of the room back towards where Muffin is in two. Okay.
Speaker 10 Does the moat get back onto Benny's head?
Speaker 34 Do I get my light?
Speaker 60 Yeah, the light starts following you again as you're in this hallway.
Speaker 42 Okay, so that means we don't have to go all the way back to one and then I'll do it all over again because that would be a headache.
Speaker 34 Yeah, as
Speaker 34 Benny walks towards back to Muffin and sees his light, he just starts humming.
Speaker 74 Just little light of mine.
Speaker 4 I'm going down.
Speaker 10 Muffin slapped Benny.
Speaker 34 I slapped Muffin back.
Speaker 110 At the sound of this slapping, you hear big stomping sounds coming from the southwest room that you know as the room six.
Speaker 45 And boom,
Speaker 115 you see this head pop out from the corridor, but it can't seem to protrude through into the room.
Speaker 84 He's too big.
Speaker 23 I smell rodent.
Speaker 11 I stab it in the eye. Oh, I'll try you, boss.
Speaker 94 All right, we're gonna roll initiative.
Speaker 15 Oh, we're fighting.
Speaker 79 All right, so what I need, since Eric, you're the one that wants to stab this thing, roll me a D6, and I will roll against you.
Speaker 30 Three.
Speaker 64 You got a three, I got a five.
Speaker 77 So my side, we're doing side-based initiative, is going to go first.
Speaker 125 That means in this first round, the giant in this case is going to take a turn, and that's the only person in this party that you can see.
Speaker 32 And then when he's done, you guys will have a turn.
Speaker 114 You can go in any order you want on your turn, and then we'll re-roll initiative again.
Speaker 139 So you wanted to stab it in the eye, go ahead and make an attack roll with your 2d6, trying to get a 10 or above.
Speaker 11 That is a four.
Speaker 26 Actually, roll with advantage.
Speaker 19 Since it was a surprise attack, roll with advantage and see if you just see if you get it.
Speaker 34 One more dice.
Speaker 11 One more dice or three new dice?
Speaker 71 Just do one more.
Speaker 43 You got it, boss.
Speaker 39 Here, have my dice.
Speaker 8 That's a, yeah, thanks, see.
Speaker 11 That's a five, which would have made it an eight. Five plus three, eight.
Speaker 95 So yeah, you try and go for this eye, and maybe the head is just still like squirming around, like a little too high for you to reach as a rodentia, and you start to stab at it, but it just kind of squirms out of the way just in the last second.
Speaker 72 Okay, so that was kind of a surprise attack.
Speaker 123 Now it'll be the giant's turn.
Speaker 18 And the giant kind of sees that you're trying to stab its eye, and it starts, it kind of reaches out behind it and starts pulling something from like its body.
Speaker 16 And you see this club kind of like fall to the ground, and it can't seem to swing it, but it's gonna hit you.
Speaker 68 So it's gonna try and like land on you basically.
Speaker 8 And he rolled an eight, and he has a plus one, so that's a nine.
Speaker 47 Um, so it's uh actually gonna you're gonna take one point of damage from this.
Speaker 10 Ah!
Speaker 77 Because what we do with damage in maze rats is you roll to try and meet the AC or beat it, and the difference between the AC and the roll is the amount of damage.
Speaker 128 So in this case, nine and eight, which is your AC.
Speaker 16 So you have one point of damage.
Speaker 34 Ah, avengery, boys and girls.
Speaker 16 Boss, no!
Speaker 69 Now it's all the rest of your turns, and everybody can go, including Eric.
Speaker 43 I want to attack next. I want to defend my boss.
Speaker 34 So then I'm going to take my...
Speaker 116 I'm going to keep some distance and shoot it with my crossbow.
Speaker 130 And I will say also that in Maze Rats, you can do 30 feet of movement on your turn, and you can take one action.
Speaker 83 And that action could be attacking, could be running away, could be any any number of things that create a solutions that you want to come up with and we'll roll with it okay so you're gonna try and shoot it with your crossbow yeah go ahead and roll 2d6 2d6 coming up this one's for you boss yeah uh two and three so five total yeah five total you gotta do better
Speaker 49 uh uh yeah you fire off your crossbow and it pings the side of the giant space but doesn't seem to phase them at all and just gets kind of angry
Speaker 110 gonna get you and you see like the archway starts to rumble and it's the stone starts to crumble on the outside of it.
Speaker 16 Who's next?
Speaker 42
Hi, guys. I think we should just run away.
This thing can't get through.
Speaker 42 We gotta get through this maze. Why don't we just run?
Speaker 34 I like that idea.
Speaker 25 Yeah, run!
Speaker 43 Yeah, see, run!
Speaker 42 We already got the biggest guy on our team down a point, so you know.
Speaker 42 Bad news, bears.
Speaker 11 Flattery gets you everywhere.
Speaker 10 So could Muffin start running towards the room with the three, which would be the northeast?
Speaker 81
Sure. Yeah.
You can
Speaker 139 easily make your way up there and you kind of move out of its eyesight.
Speaker 18 What does the rest of the party want to do?
Speaker 45
A follow. Follow.
Okay.
Speaker 11
I want to follow. I could take an action before I move, though, right? You can.
And I'm like right up on the giant's face.
Speaker 34 Who wants to stab it?
Speaker 27 No, no, no.
Speaker 11 Can I shove a vial in its mouth? Uh-oh. And then take off running, following Muffin.
Speaker 26 Yeah.
Speaker 30 What kind of vial?
Speaker 26
A vial of poison. Whoa.
Okay.
Speaker 10 Ooh, you got poison.
Speaker 78 This is going to be risky, so I'm going to make you roll for it.
Speaker 30 Okay.
Speaker 125 In this case,
Speaker 77 you're really fingersmith nimble with your hands.
Speaker 139 Yeah.
Speaker 39 So you can roll with advantage on this okay so 3d6 that is an 11 11 beats it six out of five yeah so you shove this uh vial of poison into the giant's mouth
Speaker 108 and it instinctively like starts like chomping down thinking that maybe you put your hand in its mouth and poison just starts to pierce uh its lips and sizzle and like uh you see its veins around its face start turning green and it immediately like starts thrashing about and like reversing its entry into the room and back where it came from.
Speaker 119 And you just kind of hear it rumbling, not necessarily stomping down the hallway, but it's clearly moving away from you all.
Speaker 30 Yeah, that's what you get, see?
Speaker 11 I'm going to take off
Speaker 5 following a muffin.
Speaker 42 That's what you get, see?
Speaker 139 And you hear yells of pain in the distance.
Speaker 42 Probably good thing you did that because we'll have to go into that room at some point.
Speaker 142 Yeah, see?
Speaker 11 Clearing the way.

Speaker 34 So, I guess we're still going to three.
Speaker 30 Yeah.
Speaker 34 And then I guess do we just want to hit the remainder of these doors in the corridor, four, five, and six?
Speaker 10
I think probably what we have to do in this scenario is go through all the rooms. in numerical order.
Yeah. I don't think we could skip anything.
So
Speaker 10 it's good that we have this map now because we could see the sequence of rooms and the directions we need to go so it kind of provides the answers for us.
Speaker 74 But do we have to? Yeah, yeah, take Vol back, see?
Speaker 11 Get the money.
Speaker 42 Yeah, I mean that would that would be a quick way to end this.
Speaker 43 I mean, how many episodes do we want out of this adventure, see?
Speaker 5 Maybe, uh, Benny, you should drop Vol off over there at the entrance with the gibbets, yeah?
Speaker 11 Sure.
Speaker 11 You have to carry him the whole way, because then uh, it's a lot of hef for you to be carrying around, yeah? Okay.
Speaker 43 Yeah, you're a little guy, you don't wanna carry this big old heavy thing the whole time.
Speaker 34 I feel like I could make him follow my SARS.
Speaker 51 No, but just we're a bunch of big guys, all of us, equally the next biggest.
Speaker 42 All of us.
Speaker 34 Then he goes over and uh,
Speaker 34 I guess, pushes on the door that he secured.
Speaker 115 Yeah, you push on it, and it just kind of falls off its hinges onto the ground.
Speaker 34 I walk into the room and I put Vol's body near the tile that glows with one.
Speaker 4 Sure.
Speaker 34 Okay.
Speaker 34 And then
Speaker 34 I...
Speaker 26 to head back to my team and go to we're all in three yeah okay we're in the third room yep and the spark of lights seemed to follow you as you go to this third room and like i said before you have a window to the north and um that's really the that's all that's in this room the number three in this window to the north i see it says four w
Speaker 10 so w obviously stands for west but does four mean we could get into room four from that window We'll have to find out, I think.
Speaker 11 Maybe you should look out that window and see what you see.
Speaker 10 Could yeah, could Muffin look out that window?
Speaker 93 Absolutely, you You can.
Speaker 14 Yeah, you look out the that northern window and it should be like the shoreline that you you saw in the distance as you came towards, but you actually see the west and you seem to be four floors above and you're kind of seeing maybe the the noon sun above you
Speaker 110 heading towards that direction.
Speaker 10 Oh, so I think the numbers with the west, north, east, and south, it's like how many floors up we are rather than the room.
Speaker 45 I think so.
Speaker 30 Okay. Yeah.
Speaker 115 That seems to track with what the windows you've seen so far. Yeah.
Speaker 52 Okay. Oh.
Speaker 34 So nothing in this room then. So should we just go over to four?
Speaker 58 Four? Go across the hall. Yeah.
Speaker 39
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah.
Speaker 8 Cross the hall is four.
Speaker 94 Yep. Cross the hall.
Speaker 70 There's a four on the ground and a northern window.
Speaker 79 And you kind of look out and see that you're in the same direction as the previous window in the west, but it's the third floor now.
Speaker 34 I run back over to three and I go look out the four window and look down. I go, hello, everybody.
Speaker 4 What are you doing up there?
Speaker 16 Hi.
Speaker 39 Hi.
Speaker 120 As you leave four, you see that your spark of light doesn't follow you.
Speaker 98 Wow.
Speaker 34 Oh, oh, I go back and I get my spark.
Speaker 10 Okay. But did we, we did see him, like, if we are all looking out the window, we could see each other from floor to floor.
Speaker 47 If you're looking up and down, yeah.
Speaker 15 Yeah. Okay.
Speaker 34 But then if I look out the window and then look down the hall across the hall, do I still see his butt?
Speaker 15
Yeah. Whoa.
Right?
Speaker 143 I'm not tracking that again.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 72 We're playing portals here, okay? Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 34 And I can wave down to them and they can look to the right and they can see my butt in that room. Yeah.
Speaker 30 Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 60 Okay.
Speaker 34 This is sponge.
Speaker 11 Point of clarification. The moat of light followed us into four, but when Benny left to go to three, it did not, it followed him into the hall, but did not follow him into the room.
Speaker 141 Correct.
Speaker 115 Yeah, it would have followed to the hall and just stayed there. Okay.
Speaker 4 Okay.
Speaker 10 So I think, did we all go to four yet?
Speaker 15
Yeah. Yeah.
Okay.
Speaker 43 Give me five.
Speaker 42 Okay, Nick, one more down.
Speaker 25
Five. Okay.
What are you doing this team?
Speaker 42 All right.
Speaker 104 You go down to the to the west and you see that there's a five and there's nothing else in this room.
Speaker 132 I assume you leave that and go down to the sixth one as well.
Speaker 83 Correct.
Speaker 48 You assume correctly. Where the giant came out of?
Speaker 56 Yeah, so the southwest room is number six and you see that the corridor seems to keep going northwesterly on a stairway.
Speaker 34 Wait, where's the giant?
Speaker 79 You don't see the giant actually right now.
Speaker 110 You do see trails of like green poison and blood going down towards what you see on your map.
Speaker 81 This into the next room and then south from that room.
Speaker 11 Okay. You don't see him because I killed him.
Speaker 114 Yeah, so
Speaker 11 you don't mess with Eric Ratmansky.
Speaker 42 Does your poison make someone disintegrate?
Speaker 39 It uh yeah, there's like a trail, right?
Speaker 74 But no body. Yeah, there's a trail.
Speaker 30 Okay.
Speaker 27 So what are you at the bottom of these stairs? What do you want to do?
Speaker 30 Climb up. I'll take the lead.
Speaker 93
I'll follow Benny. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. And go up.
Speaker 139 All right, Benny, you climb up into this room and you see it's a large fountain with an aquatic statue.
Speaker 119 It stands in the center of this room.
Speaker 130 To the east is that of the fountain is a bowl-like tile on the floor bearing the number seven.
Speaker 67 As you enter, immediately these serpent-like spirits kind of emerge from the water in this fountain and start diving for your spark above your head.
Speaker 75 What do you want to do?
Speaker 43 Oh, go, snakes!
Speaker 34 I
Speaker 112 don't know.
Speaker 10 Could I try to evade it?
Speaker 54 So you want to climb up the stairs as well and join them?
Speaker 112 Yeah, it was just me.
Speaker 34 So I'm in the room. The snakes are coming at my blowout.
Speaker 10 I thought you were just following, so I or leading the ball. Everybody's following.
Speaker 26 We can say you're all there at the door.
Speaker 113 Let's do that. Let's do that.
Speaker 43 I've got a steel mirror, or maybe the reflection will make them bounce off and go away.
Speaker 39 I like that.
Speaker 4 You hear it say, Give us the sparks.
Speaker 43 I'll give you some mirrors.
Speaker 118 What if we just leave, guys?
Speaker 8 Yeah, just go to eight.
Speaker 43 Oh, that's true.
Speaker 79 It's gonna lunge after Benny.
Speaker 135 I dodge
Speaker 34 and go for a talk and roll, a roll like a somersault to the north. Excellent.
Speaker 109 Make a 2d6 roll with ducks added to it as you're dodging away.
Speaker 34 Plus one. That was only eight.
Speaker 69 Okay.
Speaker 123 You are trying to dodge to the north, is that correct?
Speaker 89 Yeah.
Speaker 125 For some reason, as this serpentine spirit comes out, there's dribbling water across the floor and you slip.
Speaker 131 And so as you're diving, you may only make it like halfway there and you're kind of at the eastern side of this fountain now.
Speaker 76 Yeah.
Speaker 82 On the ground.
Speaker 125 And it's still coming for your spark, trying to grab it and thrash at it. What are the rest do you want to do?
Speaker 10 While it's distracted by him, could I run in and jump and try to grapple the little snake guy?
Speaker 23 Yeah, go for it.
Speaker 94 Go ahead and make a strength check.
Speaker 142 So 2d6 plus strength.
Speaker 10 I have the zero strength.
Speaker 11 I believe.
Speaker 10 Nine.
Speaker 43 Oh, so close. Just the same as the number of fingers you got in your hands.
Speaker 4 Oh my god.
Speaker 125 I'm going to call this an attack in essence because that's what you're trying to do is grapple this thing.
Speaker 94 And you meet its AC.
Speaker 49 Or you beat its AC, I should also say.
Speaker 37 So, because you're interacting with this thing.
Speaker 27 So I'll let you know right off the bat that its AC is six.
Speaker 125 So, you had a 9, is that correct?
Speaker 94 Yes.
Speaker 125 So, you have a death grip on this thing now.
Speaker 61 What do you want to do with it?
Speaker 10 Could I try to rip it in half?
Speaker 23 Absolutely, you can.
Speaker 94 I'll say with a nine, you absolutely rend it in half, and the spirit is still alive, but on both ends, it's kind of like wriggling in each of your hands now.
Speaker 10 Yeah. Is it like when you cut a worm in half and it turns into two worms?
Speaker 86 Yeah, it's sort of ethereal.
Speaker 79 You don't understand how you're actually holding this thing, but it has some sort of corporealness to it.
Speaker 10 So, it's alive still. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 16 okay um could i shove it into the water in the fountain you do that and you see that it's two halves start joining back together as you're playing in the water oh no oh no magic quickly take it out okay they separate again and then they start wriggling in your hands what do the rest of you want to do eat it eat it get a blow dryer eat it so we got eric and we got billy i'd like to while you know benny's on the ground and uh muffin is wrestling with that spirit i'd like to use that time and their distraction to try to run around the fountain and get to the northern exit.
Speaker 125 Okay, do you want to go west or east around the fountain?
Speaker 11 On the east side where they are because I want to use them like as that distraction. Gotcha.
Speaker 93 Okay, yeah.
Speaker 79 You start running just normally across the side of this thing and you can make it easily to the corridor to the north.
Speaker 132 Yeah, you kind of come to this room that has a number eight on it with a couple other exits come branching out from it.
Speaker 118 Come on, you knuckleheads, quit messing around.
Speaker 5 Let's go.
Speaker 87 And what does Billy want to do?
Speaker 34 Billy would want to follow suit, but based on what's been happening, theoretically, would he be able to deposit his light and then come back to help the others, but his light is in safekeeping in eight?
Speaker 34 Oh, like lock your light in room eight and
Speaker 34 you want to go all the way to eight and then come back backpedal or not backpedal if I have the movement to do it or at least pull my crossbow out to assist the other two who have not made it to eight yet.
Speaker 26 Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 119 You follow suit with your boss, Eric, and you kind of make an about face, seeing your friends kind of in trouble and you want to fire your crossbow?
Speaker 43 Yeah, I say, you hold right here, Sparky. You stay here, Sparky.
Speaker 34 And then I pull out my crossbow and I I don't want to shoot the one that's in muffins hands because I don't want to accidentally hit muffin but I do if there's another one Yeah, so there's another one that pops out and is starting to head towards big Benny stay on target stay on target.
Speaker 8 I'm gonna shoot at it.
Speaker 72 So go ahead and roll 2d6 and fire that crossbow.
Speaker 15 Watch out.
Speaker 42 Which I have an idea after this die.
Speaker 43 Okay. That's a seven plus.
Speaker 34 Do I even add anything?
Speaker 63 Not for the crossbow.
Speaker 16 No.
Speaker 18 Seven beats it and so you take it takes one point of damage as this bolt fires from your crossbow and impales the side of its face and it starts thrashing around because you've blinded you half-blinded it yeah cool it's kind of stuck in midair thrashing about trying to look for this big benny rodent come on benny come on muffin we gotta get going what do you want to do big benny i have an idea i want muffins idea okay go for a muffin can i run over to the window and throw all these snakes out the window
Speaker 62 absolutely you can so you're gonna go towards the west around uh the fountain to the south and chuck it out the window.
Speaker 87 Yeah. You do that.
Speaker 28 You take both halves and you just throw them out the window and they start falling all the way down.
Speaker 125 They're like from the fifth floor, they just seem to fall almost all the way from the top of this tower all the way to the ground and kind of land on the grass below.
Speaker 11 I'm sick and tired of these snakes in my tower.
Speaker 75 All right, Big Benny, what do you want to do?
Speaker 34 Benny wants to scramble back to his feet and get to the north door out of this room.
Speaker 59 Yeah, I'll say if all of you want to make your way to the north, you totally can.
Speaker 34
Yeah. Hey, you know, looking at the map, if I'm in room eight, I'm looking out the third floor window to the north.
Theoretically, would I be able to see the snake fall past me?
Speaker 30 You absolutely would.
Speaker 16 Yeah, so this third floor northern window.
Speaker 4 You just see it.
Speaker 10 Yeah, after throwing those snakes out the window, Muffin also wants to head to the north.
Speaker 34 Benny turns to Muffin and just goes, thanks, I appreciate that.
Speaker 34 I'm in your debt.
Speaker 42 Yeah, you know, I've seen the movies snakes on a plane, but never snakes in a water fountain.
Speaker 105 Snakes in a spire. All right.
Speaker 102 You all safely make it to the threshold of room number eight to the north, and your sparks all follow you.
Speaker 77 And this second serpent spirit seems to be thrashing about, can't seem to find anything, and dives back into the fountain.
Speaker 74 Okay.
Speaker 42 Note to self, don't go to that fountain ever again.
Speaker 27 So now you find yourselves in this four-way room.
Speaker 31 You've come from the south.
Speaker 102 It's a square room with these cardinal directions in each way, and then there's an eight on the floor and a window in the northwest corner.
Speaker 11 Hey, Billy, you wanted to see some birds, yeah?
Speaker 43 Yeah, yeah, birds, boss. Yeah, I like birds.
Speaker 34 So looking at the map, there's a staircase that leads down into what looks like floor nine.
Speaker 34 But there's also four giant pelicans. Are they awake? Like, what's the status of these big old birds? You gotta look in that room.
Speaker 89 You wanna listen down the stairwell?
Speaker 26 Yeah.
Speaker 47 Yeah, you listen down and you absolutely hear the ruffling of feathers, the squawking of giant creatures that are bird-like.
Speaker 148 And it definitely smells like something of a wharf with like guano and
Speaker 103 grass and mud, that kind of stuff.
Speaker 11 Oh, this connects back around to the earlier passageway where you said it smelled like a wharf to the north.
Speaker 30 Okay, I gotcha.
Speaker 43 Okay, gang, so we got a bunch of birds in the next room. What do birds not like?
Speaker 43 How can we put these birds to sleep?
Speaker 11 Get Lil Muffin in there. Yeah, little muffins will chase him away.
Speaker 42 Should I go grab one of those snakes and bring it into this room and just unleash havoc?
Speaker 16 I like it.
Speaker 34 This might be a controversial idea. What if we just ran?
Speaker 42 Yeah. I like to run.
Speaker 17 Yeah. What?
Speaker 34 What if I know anything about birds? If you make a lot of noise and you just wave your hands around a lot, then the birds are scared of you and you can run past them.
Speaker 26 Yeah, bird brains.
Speaker 43 I got an idea that might not be as dangerous. Okay, so in the northwest corner, there's a window facing to the north on the third floor.
Speaker 26 Okay?
Speaker 43 All right, now follow me along. If you look at the map, there's another window in there, and it's the second floor window facing the north.
Speaker 43 So what if I distract them in the window? Oh, and you guys run behind them while they're looking at me, and then you get from room nine to room 10.
Speaker 52 I love this.
Speaker 27 How are you going to get to 10?
Speaker 111 I don't know,
Speaker 43
but I want my team to get along. As long as Mr.
Eric gets through, that's all I care about.
Speaker 86 Also, hand this to you.
Speaker 120 If you do that, I will totally let that happen.
Speaker 103 And you know that all four of those windows from your map are on the same level.
Speaker 129 And all you'd have to do is swing to the next one and to the next one and to the next one because they're all the same level, but they're all the cardinal direction.
Speaker 27 So west, north, east, south.
Speaker 43 A lot of athletics checks, but I think I can do it, guys. You guys believe in me? Hands in the middle.
Speaker 10 There's also a corridor that says E.
Speaker 93 Yeah.
Speaker 10 All the way to the east.
Speaker 11
I was going to point that out, but then I realized I think if we do that, we skip nine. Then we go straight from eight to ten.
Yeah.
Speaker 83 Yeah.
Speaker 34 You would assume that's we have to go in nine.
Speaker 11 So let's build on Billy's idea, okay? Yeah. You go from the window in three north down to two north to get into nine.
Speaker 11 Go back to the window in three north, then go to the passage mark E, then come back the other side and go to ten.
Speaker 42 I am so lost right now. I'm just gonna run.
Speaker 41 Easy as pie.
Speaker 34 I'm just gonna follow suit.
Speaker 43
Wait, wait, wait, wait. Okay, hold on.
I do the window thing, right? Yeah. I'm distracting him from the window, okay? You guys run from room nine to room 10.
Yes.
Speaker 43 And then one of you goes out the door to the east hallway and then comes back to room 8. And then you distract them
Speaker 43 while I run through the room while I go through the window
Speaker 4 into room 10.
Speaker 86 You mean the hallway labeled E?
Speaker 126 Is that what you meant?
Speaker 23 Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 42 Okay. Hopefully that door is open.
Speaker 103 Let me just clue the audience in here.
Speaker 81 From 8.
Speaker 119 There's a western path that's labeled E and it wraps around to room 10.
Speaker 114 It's almost like you're going out the left side, coming in the right side.
Speaker 52 It's like Pac-Man.
Speaker 48
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, it's a portal.
Speaker 10 I don't know how we would have done this without the picture.
Speaker 30 Yeah, this is nuts.
Speaker 94 It's hard.
Speaker 145 Billy, you're going to go out the northwestern window that's labeled 3N and you're on the third floor on the north side and the rest of the party goes down the stairwell.
Speaker 79 Billy, you're going to climb down, I'm assuming, to the second level on the north side still?
Speaker 109 Yes. Okay.
Speaker 79 You do that and you start approaching the windowsill of that pelican room with all these eggshells and mud and sticks and these huge dire pelicans that are just enormous and squawking.
Speaker 27 The rest of the party, you start making your way down the stairs, I'm assuming sneakily and kind of wait for his signal.
Speaker 11 Walking on eggshells.
Speaker 16 Exactly.
Speaker 43 Go to my boss. What do you want to do?
Speaker 34 All right, so in order to distract them, I have a crowbar. So I'll hold on to one of the chains from the windowsill and I'll take the crowbar in the other hand.
Speaker 43 And then I'll start just banging it up on that wall. Just
Speaker 31 you know from your experience with birds that they hate high-pitched sounds and shiny objects.
Speaker 103 Yeah, you're like weak to them.
Speaker 59 So you start doing this thing, and like it just starts making this racket that echoes off the corners and the walls of this room.
Speaker 79 And the birds start going crazy and just flapping about.
Speaker 43 That's the signal, guys. I'm making the signal, signal.
Speaker 88 Run, run, run.
Speaker 43 Run, run.
Speaker 11 I start running from eight through nine, trying to get over to ten.
Speaker 88 Okay.
Speaker 10 Same. Same here.
Speaker 72 Okay, so yeah, you three kind of hug the southern wall away from these birds as they're looking northward towards Billy, making a racket.
Speaker 68 And you slink past, and as you're getting towards the corner, you see the number nine mixing all this hay and straw and twigs.
Speaker 119 And along the way, I'll also say, as you're approaching the door for 10, you see on the ground a pelican beak from a dead pelican like it's been it's fallen off of it and you see three venomous quills, like something that they're sort of poisoned, like it died from poison.
Speaker 64 And there's something lodged inside the beak as well.
Speaker 34 As I run by, I pick it up and grab it and take it out of the room.
Speaker 97 Absolutely.
Speaker 91 Yeah, you all head towards 10.
Speaker 68 And meanwhile, Billy's on the windowstill and he's making a racket with this chain and crowbar.
Speaker 61 What do you want to do now, Billy?
Speaker 34
Oh, yeah. You got their attention.
Okay, so theoretically, I would be able to see them run through the room and then enter 10.
Speaker 34 So then I would know that's probably my signal to climb back up to safety, quote unquote,
Speaker 34 into room eight and then await someone to come in for through the east hallway that connects room 10 to room eight and then have them distract on my straps on the other side.
Speaker 23 I got you. Yeah.
Speaker 115 So go ahead and make a climb check as you're going back up.
Speaker 54 So you're going to do a strength check and you're going to do 3d6, like I said last time, because you have an advantage on this chain being here.
Speaker 30 Okay.
Speaker 34 This entire show, I've been listening to Blaine's voice, and it's been triggering something in my head. I'm like, I know this voice, and I finally figured it out.
Speaker 34 Did any of you watch Bear in the Big Blue House?
Speaker 5 No.
Speaker 34 Okay, so Kristen, I told her I'd give her a taste of my voice this morning and she was like, oh, that's the rat from
Speaker 34 if anybody pulls up any clips of Tutter from Bear in the Big Blue House, it sounds exactly like Blaine right now.
Speaker 10 I thought it was
Speaker 10 Sizzler.
Speaker 10 No, Mickey Mouse.
Speaker 23 Oh.
Speaker 34 I rolled a six and a five, and then plus strength, I guess that's a one, so twelve.
Speaker 146 You have done this before now, and you're just racing up this chain up to the next windowsill, back into room eight.
Speaker 38 Who's coming out of tent to distract?
Speaker 11 I wanted to open the door to the passageway E that's in tent, just to make sure it's it's unlocked and open.
Speaker 134 Absolutely.
Speaker 119 You go for that, you reach for it, it's unlocked, you swings open.
Speaker 42 I can go distract. All right.
Speaker 30 Gotta do a muffin.
Speaker 42 I'm brave. I'm fast.
Speaker 18 What do you do to distract the pelicans?
Speaker 129 They're all in a tizzy right now.
Speaker 62 They're trying to look out this window, and they can't seem to find what was making all this noise.
Speaker 42 Luckily, Muffin also has a crowbar.
Speaker 10 So she wants to take it out. And then, is there like, there's like a, I assume, like an archway
Speaker 23 that you're looking through, yeah.
Speaker 10 Could I just like bang it on either side of the archway?
Speaker 134 Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 107 The birds follow suit and start flapping their wings, cawing and looking for the source of this racket.
Speaker 134 And one of them eyes you and starts lunging right for you with its beak.
Speaker 30 Uh-oh.
Speaker 10 Okay. As I'm doing this, do I see if Billy Billy is getting through the room?
Speaker 108 So Billy, you're going to the hallway E?
Speaker 67 No.
Speaker 112 No, he needs to go back to the back of the back.
Speaker 34 Go back out the window now that they're looking.
Speaker 64 Oh, you're going to do the same thing the party did.
Speaker 34 Yeah, I'm going to go back down now that they're newly distracted, and then I'll run through nine into ten.
Speaker 88 Okay.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 87 You start sneaking all your way southwards, same thing, but there's a giant pelican that's blocking your entrance because it's going towards your friend, Muffin.
Speaker 10 Wait, I have a question. Couldn't he have just stayed by those windows as I distract them and then hop into the room via those windows and skid around?
Speaker 26 He could have. We're here now.
Speaker 34
I mostly just wanted to hop out of the way to aid. Well, yeah, I could have done that.
I just didn't know if the Pelicans would attack the line.
Speaker 51 I'll give you this too.
Speaker 72 You would know that since you kind of were making a racket in this window still,
Speaker 132 the spark would have gone into nine if you want to leave it there.
Speaker 108 Oh, and you could keep going.
Speaker 86 Either way, I'll let you decide what you want to do.
Speaker 57 Okay.
Speaker 34 Well, then maybe while Muffin is distracting them at the stairs, I'll run through East Hallway through 10, dip my toe into 9 on the other side of the room from the distraction, and then head back to 10.
Speaker 103 Okay. Okay.
Speaker 18 I'll say that this all happens in the same sequence we just said.
Speaker 103 You climb down, you go into room 8 and make your way down the stairwell, see that there's this giant pelican anyway, you backpedal and go towards this hallway and kind of come out on the other side of 10 and you dip into room 9.
Speaker 83 You get like a toe in there and the spark comes flying towards you, but still there's this giant pelican beep coming from muffin
Speaker 91 so now we're all in 10 but the pelican is about to attack muffin yeah yeah it's trying to squeeze its way in can i shoot my crossbow at the pelican that's about to attack muffin sure you can do that all right go ahead and roll 2d6 i hope their ac is low it's a five uh unfortunately it doesn't seem to to meet the pelican um you're i guess you're a little bit frazzled you've run you're kind of sweating and heaving from all this uh exercise and you fire and it just fires off to the side of the wall and misses completely can i look at Benny and Eric and say, we need to make noise.
Speaker 43 We need to help Buffin out.
Speaker 42 I got this, guys.
Speaker 15 Hold on.
Speaker 11 Do it, Muffin.
Speaker 42 I'm surprised they could hear me. Okay.
Speaker 10 Muffin then takes the crossbow and starts to run the other direction, but as she's running, hits the beak of the pelican with the crowbar.
Speaker 4 Crowbar.
Speaker 15 Crowbar.
Speaker 60 You're doing like an improvised thing.
Speaker 15 Kind of stun it, kind of.
Speaker 59 Yeah, I would say this is more like a dex or strength.
Speaker 68 I'll let you kind of decide which one you want to add to this.
Speaker 10 Plus your decks. So 2d6?
Speaker 84 Yeah, 2d6 plus your decks.
Speaker 10 So that would be an eight total.
Speaker 87 It meets it just on the dot.
Speaker 132 So like you slam it on its beak and its beak kind of like hits the floor kind of dazed and you have seconds to kind of get out of this thing's eyesight.
Speaker 10 I will run towards Hall E so I could get back into room 10.
Speaker 33 I think you're in room 10, correct, right now?
Speaker 34 Yeah, you can be, because you were in nine, you can move into 10.
Speaker 10 Is there a door or anything we could slam shut?
Speaker 132 If you want to make a door, you can, or if you want to look around for something, you totally can do that.
Speaker 39 Okay.
Speaker 69 Could muffin look around for like a big plank or something to like shut the door with all right so you're in this room 10 it's a square room with paths heading in three cardinal directions north east west there's a depressed tile with the number 10 on it you don't see anything on the ground but you do think that you might be able to pry this door to the east off of the wall like kind of like what big benny did before like it's really rusty and on its last hinge okay guys get the door get the door and shove it on this archway muffin's kind of out of breath because she's so scared I do that.
Speaker 34 I dropped the pelican beak that I grabbed, and I go do that with the door because I'm so good at that.
Speaker 143 So strong.
Speaker 11 It's your area of expertise.
Speaker 107 All right, pelican beak drops to the ground and you lunge this door into the archway.
Speaker 59 Make a quick strength check.
Speaker 34 That is 14.
Speaker 146 Yeah, easily. Same thing.
Speaker 72 Slam it into there.
Speaker 124 The beak is shoved back into room number nine and you all are safe in room number 10.
Speaker 10 Dang, you rolled good.
Speaker 43 We did it, king.
Speaker 111 Whoa!
Speaker 10 Muffin all of a sudden sees the beak on the floor and goes,
Speaker 42 I thought one of them got in here.
Speaker 34 Yeah, can I pry the beak open now and see what was inside of it?
Speaker 110 Yeah, you have three quills that were stuck into this beak.
Speaker 86 You also open it up and you see that inside is a bottle like with liquid inside, some kind of potion.
Speaker 98 Ooh la la.
Speaker 34 I pocket that for now.
Speaker 98 Okay.
Speaker 39 I'll say that it has a label on it.
Speaker 103 It's just a picture and it has two feet with arrows pointing down below the feet.
Speaker 93 Two feet?
Speaker 29 Two like shoes.
Speaker 10 With arrows pointing down.
Speaker 34
Is it? Oh, is it like a potion of slow fall or whatever it's called? Might be something like that. Or it makes you go really fast down.
We'll find out.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 34 We'll find out in the moment.
Speaker 10 Feather fall, maybe.
Speaker 102 All right. So you have a corridor to your north, a door that you've taken off the hinges to the east.
Speaker 119 Now that one's on the west.
Speaker 84 And those are the three ways out of this room.
Speaker 74 It's corridor time, boys.
Speaker 51 Well, hold on, boss.
Speaker 43 My danger sense is tingling. Looks like there's like a giant pit in the hallway between 10 and 11.
Speaker 24 Yeah, you better go first so
Speaker 11 you can find all the danger for me.
Speaker 84 Get in there, Billy.
Speaker 43 Yeah, you got it, boss.
Speaker 34 Micah's that pit that seems to be in the hallway in front of us. Is that there?
Speaker 93 That's the thing, right?
Speaker 25 You want to go into that hallway?
Speaker 29 Yeah.
Speaker 11
Add a boy. I pat Billy on the back because he's so courageous, but it's like also subtly pushing him into the hallway.
Yeah, get in there.
Speaker 43 Thanks, boss. Thanks.
Speaker 95 I'm not trying to trick you.
Speaker 119 I'm just trying to make sure that...
Speaker 69 So you know on the map that it's there and now you're gonna go into the hallway to see if it's there, correct?
Speaker 102 Yes.
Speaker 15 Okay.
Speaker 19 You enter into this narrow corridor and and yeah, you do in fact see the pit, but for some reason the pit seems like longer than it is on the map.
Speaker 18 You can't make sense of it.
Speaker 120 It's similar to that kind of feeling that Big Benny had earlier with this torn fabric and this blueprint map.
Speaker 86 It just seems like it shouldn't be as big as it is.
Speaker 34
Oh, I know this one, Billy. I heard before.
The penitent man
Speaker 34
has to, you have to, you have to just kind of go. Yeah.
Yeah.
Speaker 43
Indiana Jones, Last Crusade, Sean Curry. It's a classic.
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 102 What do you want to do?
Speaker 43 Do you have any dirt? Do you got any dirt?
Speaker 11 Nah, the penitent man's got a kneel, yeah?
Speaker 16 Dirt on who? Oh, yeah.
Speaker 24 What was the faith one you had to watch?
Speaker 43 The link of faith, yeah.
Speaker 39 You know, I have chalk. Hey, hello.
Speaker 34 So I want to crumble up the chalk, and then I want to
Speaker 22 blow it onto where that hole should be. Into the hole?
Speaker 10 Yeah, I put it up to my little tail, my rat tail, and I go.
Speaker 10 He just spits all over it and just makes it wet.
Speaker 93 Just wet chalk.
Speaker 97 Absolutely.
Speaker 107 You crumble up this chalk in the dust and you blow it and you see that it does in fact land where you think it should on the map.
Speaker 107 Like this hole is only maybe like three feet across and wide, but it seems like it's seven.
Speaker 62 But when you blow the chalk, you find the rest of the floor and like it's not no longer obstructed.
Speaker 29 It's where it should be.
Speaker 43
I'm going to take Billy Blafe. I'm going to take it.
I'm going to run.
Speaker 16 All right.
Speaker 34 I'll try to jump the chasm. Yeah.
Speaker 79 Go ahead and make a dex check.
Speaker 10 The floor
Speaker 10 three feet jump.
Speaker 98 Yeah.
Speaker 34 So that's two dice and then plus the modifier.
Speaker 97 Yeah.
Speaker 11
Okay. I'm going to call you Billy Big Brain.
Look at the big brain. I'm Billy.
Speaker 8 That's a six plus two eight.
Speaker 59 You follow the chalk, the dust, and you leap across.
Speaker 146 And just as you're about to clear it, you start to fall and you're half on this ledge on the other side, sliding into the chasm now.
Speaker 43 Oh, God.
Speaker 11 I'm going to jump across to try to help pull him up from the other side.
Speaker 43 Don't hurt yourself, Boss. No!
Speaker 51 You don't leave me!
Speaker 32 Make a dex check to try and clear the gap and be on the other side, right?
Speaker 88 Yep.
Speaker 34 I like that the fail on this is just resulting in more rats like falling into this chasm as we all try to help.
Speaker 15 So 2d6 is four.
Speaker 4 There it is.
Speaker 41 There it is.
Speaker 59 What happens is you land on top of Billy and start sliding down his back, and now you're holding on to his ankles and you're dangling out of this chasm even more.
Speaker 15 Come on, Nimkapoo, pull us up.
Speaker 16 Now there's a rodentia ladder.
Speaker 76 Muffins!
Speaker 10 Could Muffin try to jump across?
Speaker 16 Third times jump over that.
Speaker 10 My deck is high, so hopefully.
Speaker 22 Let's go.
Speaker 10 That is a 10. Okay, so
Speaker 73 you clear across Billy's head and onto the other side.
Speaker 128 Now, what do you want to do?
Speaker 30 Muffin, pull me up and then pull Billy up afterwards.
Speaker 34 Eric is actually lower, but he's like, pull me up first.
Speaker 10 Well, I mean, it does make sense to pull one person up at a time because trying to lift two people is definitely more of a strength. So I will try to actually...
Speaker 5 Yeah, that's what Eric meant.
Speaker 10 I probably can't reach Eric with just my arm. So could I, like, put my crowbar down?
Speaker 143 Absolutely.
Speaker 68 Yeah, you can hold your crowbar down.
Speaker 62 And what are you going to do?
Speaker 26 Grab the crowbar.
Speaker 24 Yeah, I start grabbing at it.
Speaker 10 Okay. And I'm going to try to pull him up.
Speaker 115 I'll say either one of you can make a strength check with advantage or both of you can make strength checks and see if you both make it.
Speaker 10 What's your strength like?
Speaker 24 Yeah, I think we should both do it.
Speaker 11 I got a plus one, see?
Speaker 10 I got nothing.
Speaker 30 All right, let's both do it.
Speaker 10 Okay, so we're both making strength checks?
Speaker 43 That just increases the chances of failure.
Speaker 44 I know.
Speaker 34 I see Barbara's face.
Speaker 11 Before Barbara reads it, I do want to say earlier a couple rooms ago, this is exactly why Eric did not stop to help at the fountain,
Speaker 11
because he didn't want to get himself into more trouble. That's why he tried to run by.
Look what happens when he tries to help.
Speaker 11 He tries to jump in and help Billy, and he's going to fall into a pit to a snow.
Speaker 72 You had to to get across this chasm anyways and we conclude this adventure with the lesson don't help each other
Speaker 69 yeah what did you get uh barbara i got a seven i rolled a nine but my strength is plus one so that's a ten okay so you're holding on just fine eric uh but it starts to slip in muffin's hand and falling down now you have a great grip on this though
Speaker 15 Drop me a rope, Muffin.
Speaker 38 We haven't heard from Benny.
Speaker 61 What does Benny want to do? Benny!
Speaker 102 Benny, help and send a love to you so now you have two people that are in this ladder hanging on the ledge and you have muffin that's starting to either lose track of this crowbar or herself is starting to fall down as well oh i would sooner let go of the crowbar
Speaker 34 your group is loosening on it yes okay uh benny's gonna make a jump okay make a dexter oh god oh god don't worry feathers i'm on my way he's gonna die That is a 10 exactly.
Speaker 133 Oh, wow.
Speaker 4 Wow.
Speaker 120 You clear everybody and like you maybe even run wall across the side and like avoid all these bodies that are in your wake.
Speaker 16 Yeah.
Speaker 4 And you'll go like a wall, wall, uh, walk.
Speaker 16 Parkour.
Speaker 89 And you land on the other side.
Speaker 75 What do you want to do?
Speaker 39 I crack my knuckles and I uh...
Speaker 43 We don't have time for you to crack your knuckles.
Speaker 15 I have arthritis.
Speaker 34 You can shut up.
Speaker 10 Arthuritis.
Speaker 34 And I grab Muffin and I start pulling Muffin back.
Speaker 39 Okay, so just to be clear, she's losing grip of this crowbar.
Speaker 34 Well, then I put my hands, I put my arms all the way around Muffin and onto the crowbar that Muffin's holding and pull back.
Speaker 48 All right.
Speaker 101 I like this idea, and I'm going to give you something.
Speaker 25 You've torn two doors off their hinges, no problem.
Speaker 23 So you have like all this strength and all this confidence.
Speaker 27 I'm going to give you advantage on this strength roll because you're just completely in the clear on this.
Speaker 47 You know it.
Speaker 24 12 with advantage.
Speaker 70 I'll say you start pulling up Muffin.
Speaker 130 You get the grip on the crowbar as well.
Speaker 85 Muffin's in the clear.
Speaker 84 And I'll say that now Eric is holding onto the shoulders of Billy.
Speaker 93 So now they're kind of level with this ledge now.
Speaker 42 Can you crawl up?
Speaker 15 Yeah, I'll put my feet on his shoulders and lift my weight up and pull myself up.
Speaker 44 Bully
Speaker 10 is really great.
Speaker 44 Gripping's got good grip.
Speaker 43 I could do this all day.
Speaker 72 Yeah, veins are just throbbing in Billy's veins, in this head.
Speaker 101 So go ahead and make a strength check, but do with advantage since the other two are on the other side holding that crowbar for you.
Speaker 34 This is for me or for Eric, Eric, because you're climbing up.
Speaker 11 That is a seven.
Speaker 34 Come on, Eric.
Speaker 44 That was with advantage.
Speaker 59 Yeah, it was a three and a three.
Speaker 4 It was a three, three, two.
Speaker 16 God, what'd you just do?
Speaker 142 That's a 30 and a plus one.
Speaker 126 Oh, you plus one.
Speaker 107 Okay, so now you lose grip of the crowbar, and now you're starting to slide on the back.
Speaker 30 Oh my god, Billy, pull us up.
Speaker 43 See, you got it, boss.
Speaker 98 Super.
Speaker 10 I'm trying to hit her hard with 2d6.
Speaker 22 They are.
Speaker 34 I try and I grab Billy and I go, Billy, I need you to pull with all your might.
Speaker 24 Okay.
Speaker 43 Okay.
Speaker 34 So I'm going to roll strength.
Speaker 139 You're going to roll strength.
Speaker 115 You're both going to roll with advantage because of the confidence that...
Speaker 97 Actually, let's do this.
Speaker 26 Let's do this.
Speaker 77 Big Benny is going to make a will check real quick.
Speaker 24 We haven't done that yet.
Speaker 34 That's not good.
Speaker 10 Is it a zero, your will?
Speaker 15 That is correct.
Speaker 128 Trying to inspire confidence into Billy right now.
Speaker 88 Okay.
Speaker 34 So I'm doing a will check and he's doing a strength check.
Speaker 25 Just do the will check first.
Speaker 34
Just do the will check. That's a six and a four.
That's 10.
Speaker 26 All right. Nice.
Speaker 77 I'm going to say we're going to speed through this because you guys are doing so well on these rolls now.
Speaker 18 You inspire this confidence into Billy.
Speaker 79 Billy and Eric managed to thrust themselves back out of this chasm and you safely all land breathing and having on the other side towards the room 11 on the far end.
Speaker 34
I like, like a kid that just got out of a swimming pool from drowning. I like make my way up to Eric.
I'm like, boss!
Speaker 16 Are you okay, boss? I'm just patting down.
Speaker 15 Boss!
Speaker 14 Yeah.
Speaker 69 After all these jumps and leaps over this chasm, Big Benny, you look down at this potion.
Speaker 27 You feel like it's surging with power, like you've been doing something that it wants to do.
Speaker 24 I down the potion.
Speaker 26 Oh. You down right now?
Speaker 30 Okay.
Speaker 11 Sure.
Speaker 68 As you drink it, this green liquid kind of seeps down your throat, into your body, and trails all the way down into your feet.
Speaker 102 And you feel like you could jump, maybe double, maybe even triple your height of what you could, what you could before.
Speaker 107 And I'll say on your next jump or two, you'll be able to do that.
Speaker 59 It won't be wasted right now.
Speaker 115 Like you'll be able to do it on your next jump.
Speaker 34 Benny proceeds to jump back over the chasm and then back over the chasm to where we are.
Speaker 92 And the green stuff goes away.
Speaker 84 Wow, that was cool.
Speaker 15 I'm gonna kill you.
Speaker 145 All right, you guys are on the threshold of room 11 to the north.
Speaker 71 It's a very sparse room and it only goes one direction to the east.
Speaker 77 Is that where you want to go?
Speaker 26 Yeah. Let's do it now.
Speaker 132 Go east and you go through this hallway short hallway to another small room labeled 12 on the floor.
Speaker 79 And there's one window to the north.
Speaker 86 And then to the east is another corridor that leads further on.
Speaker 18 And you can see that on your map.
Speaker 43 Okay, gang. I don't want to rely too heavily on this map because our audience at home can't hear you see it.
Speaker 43 However, if we're looking ahead, there is like a series of staircases and really, really big statues of big scary things.
Speaker 42 We can't see that yet.
Speaker 44 We're not in there.
Speaker 43 I know, but we can see it on the map. Muffin, stay with me, stay with me.
Speaker 43 So
Speaker 43
there's a window here, and I think we can avoid all of that junk if we just... No, never mind.
Never mind.
Speaker 44 Let's go ahead and talk.
Speaker 22 Do you guys want to move forward?
Speaker 34 Benny pushes Billy through the window.
Speaker 11
He's institutionalized. He loves going in and out of windows so much.
He's got to do it all the time now. Yes.
Speaker 34 Benny walks into the next room, into what he thinks is room 13.
Speaker 68 Yeah, you see this huge staircase of several levels and landings moving north and south.
Speaker 8 And along these staircases are four statues that look like altars.
Speaker 59 I told you.
Speaker 134 Each of them has a bowl or some sort of tray at the bottom where all these offerings have been laid at their feet.
Speaker 125 And then to the north at the top of this staircase, you see this ominous figure.
Speaker 27 It's just standing there, some sort of person.
Speaker 101 They look like they're in rusty armor, and they're not looking at you.
Speaker 18 They're just staring off into the distance.
Speaker 27 What do you want to do?
Speaker 11 I would like to approach that rusty armor and investigate it.
Speaker 143 Okay.
Speaker 139 Yeah, you get closer to it, and you see that there's this person.
Speaker 29 It looks very gaunt, like it's covered in armor, and you can tell that it looks like it's a skeleton inside, and it's kind of swaying uneasily, staring off in the distance.
Speaker 54 What do you want to do?
Speaker 11 Can I look, like follow its gaze and see where its gaze is looking in the distance? Sure, yeah.
Speaker 33 You kind of turn around and look down this staircase, kind of following where it's looking, and you don't catch sight of what it's looking at, but you follow the trail and it seems like it's following something that's floating in the air, maybe like a piece of dust or a bird like that you can't see.
Speaker 31 I don't know. It's weird.
Speaker 10 What are all the different statues or like figures that we're seeing?
Speaker 102 Each of them, like I said, have these offerings.
Speaker 25 They're just humanoid looking statues that seem to have recloaked they kind of represent maybe different species that you're aware of of humanoids and um at the bottom of each of these you see little offerings um do you want to look at one in particular yes uh i got an all cardinal directions in the corner so which one do you want to go to i want to go southeast southeast okay you go to the southeast and you see there's this flask um sitting on the bottom and it's kind of sizzling where the cork is could i pop it open absolutely You open it up, and you can tell that this is no doubt acid that's in this flask.
Speaker 29 You're not sure how it's not eating away through this flask, but maybe it's some sort of material that can't be dissolved.
Speaker 42 You know, everything in my bones tells me I should take this, but I'm really worried about taking an offering from one of these things. But I'm gonna do it anyway.
Speaker 34 That is not the end of that statement I was expecting.
Speaker 84 As soon as you pull it away, an immense phantasmal door appears in the middle of the staircase and out steps a large looming spectral figure.
Speaker 66 Its penetrating gaze fixes squarely on Muffin and immediately begins gliding menacingly towards her.
Speaker 113 That I did expect.
