Speaker 4 The Maple Leafs, Penguins, they all have seven players out, just like the Panthers do. Buffalo, New Jersey, Vancouver, they have six players out.

Speaker 4 It's not like the current alternate that they have in the locker room.

Both teams will have special patches.

Speaker 4 his goal in game six of the Stanley Cup final last year where he went around Evan Bouchard. He was so good last night, ran the game every time he was on the ice, in complete control on every shift.

Speaker 8 The hockey team in Ohio are like, man, we'll get that in Columbus. So first time ever in Columbus, to be honest, I work my travel schedule on my beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 8 So five o'clock fight to Columbus Sunday. I had to watch Eagles line Sunday football.
We win in a very boring game, great defensive battle. Next morning, morning skate.

Speaker 8 Louis, Habs, we're in town. I thought I thought I would explore Columbus a little bit.

Speaker 8 I got got to be honest, fellas, I think if I was there for an Ohio State game in like, you know, late September or something, it's better.

Habs are down 3-1, tied it up, and then lost it in the shootout.

Speaker 8 The Blue Jackets in 25 years of history have won playoff series. That's almost tough to comprehend.
Like you would have thought at one point you could have got to a conference file.

Speaker 8 And how many years has it been Crosby and Ovechkin who are still going and still performing? But now, like, you can make a case. Like, Macklin Celebrity, Connor Bedard, two great young guns.

Speaker 8 Celebrity is on pace for like 130 points this year, and Bedard could score 50. It's crazy.

Speaker 6 Man, it's fun. We were just talking about the youth movement among goaltenders, and it's kind of all across the board.
It's pretty cool, Adenan.

Speaker 6 Now, you're going to hate me for this question as a Canadian man, I imagine.

Speaker 6 But right now, there's only one Canadian team in a playoff spot.

Speaker 6 We just talked about, they've kind of fallen off the side of a cliff lately. Which Canadian team, when all is said and done, is going to give your nation its best chance at a Stanley Cup this year?

Speaker 8 Well, it's certainly not Calgary. Let's go through each one.
They've been terrible. I love Brian Husk.

Speaker 8 Last year, they were like that classic team with not much offensive punch aside from Nassim Kadri.

Speaker 8 Yeah, and Wolf is the guy who carried them, right? As a rookie, it's like, oh, he's in the collar conversation. And this year, it's like, well, even Dustin Wolf can't help this team.
They're awful.

The Oilers, I still think, are the answer. Honestly, David, because they have that collective talent that they're off to a slow start.
You're absolutely right.

Speaker 8 They're way too reliant on those two guys. I do think getting Hydeman back is big.
A couple of years ago, he scored 54 goals. So clearly he's going to help with their secondary scoring.

Speaker 8 Pickard played great last night, deserved a better result. They just weren't able to get any goal scoring, quite frankly, and lost 2-1.
Vancouver is a weird team. I think they're a bit of a mismatch.

Speaker 8 It feels like they got a dark cloud hanging over them, which isn't just the rain in Vancouver. I don't like them that much.

Speaker 8 And the Leafs right now are a fascinating story because, as you said, the East is very tightly bunched up.

Speaker 8 They're like two points in the last place in the East, but they're four points in a playoff spot, but they have not been good.

Speaker 8 Like when your general manager and President Bradshaw Living's coming out and giving a press conference in November, just addressing the state of the team, They've been really disappointing.

Speaker 8 Now, Still Arts has been out. Matthew's been out.
I get it, but you shouldn't still be a 500 team with the Leaves Collection of Talent. Neil Andrew's wonderful, but they really do miss Mitch Marner.

Speaker 8 And it's more of a Craig Bruby team. And the fact they're heavy in the puck and slower, but they're certainly not better.
And there's a lot of concern right now in Toronto for a good reason.

Speaker 4 Just to close a loop on the youth movement in the NHL right now, if you look at the point leaders in the NHL, number three, Macklin Cellabrini. Number four, Connor Berdard.

Speaker 4 And number five, Leo Carlson, who was the second pick behind Connor Berdard in the 2023 NHL draft. These guys are here and they're all really good.
Adnan, I want to ask you about it.

Speaker 4 I saw a clip, I think it was a couple of weeks ago. I wish I had it, but I don't, where Biz's friend Oldie crashed the Monday night hockey.
What was that experience like?

Speaker 4 Because he is an interesting fella.

Speaker 8 Here's what happens, Ethan. When you go on these different shows and meet different people, sometimes you need a scouting report.

Speaker 8 And so with regards to Biz, like I've seen him on TNT and I know he's working, I'm a huge fan of his, but I am not, forgive me, an avid listener of the spit and chicklett's podcast i know that they're irreverent and outspoken and all the rest of it so when we got to the arena i just saw oldie and these guys and again i don't know them i'm making it sound like i know them now but i'm being totally honest i'm like i just knew that they're buddies of biz i could just tell the mustache the trucker hat i'm like all right you guys are clearly with biz

Speaker 8 It's like if you didn't know the Lebertart show, you had no idea about Greg Cody and the hard out. Like if you don't get the show, you wouldn't know it.
So I'm just like, oh, these are buddies of biz.

At the end of the the show, what Ethan's referring to, Biz is firing up the crowd when we get a CNX.

Speaker 8 But I am, I wouldn't say defensive of Ranson. I do think it was awkward.
I came with who the player was, but he kind of was brushing with him. And then it kind of went into the player Romanov.

Speaker 8 So in the meantime, I'm just watching Sports sports center which i don't do often these days it's not a slide just don't do it and i said they get to a hockey alley they roll the font rangers red wings and they pick it up nine seconds left and i go wow this must have been a hell of an ending like this is a 10 second highlight and they just show uh obviously off the quick losing his mind i get an example roy where i get both ends like i i understand in this instance a player going i'm not going to wait till the sound like if i have a shot at a free goal i'm taking a free goal like i just shoot the puck and then the horn sounds fine but i get quick thinking hey it's my net i'm going to defend it what i didn't like is Paneran and the rest of the Rangers not really having Quicks back.

Speaker 8 You know what I'm saying? Like, I get to shoot the puck for a goal, and then Quick's like, F that, this is my net. But then the other Rangers starts to come in and mix up a little bit.

Speaker 8 So it's one of those unwritten rules. Again, I asked Thomas Hickey about it, one of my colleagues on the Prime Minister Hockey, and he goes, I get it from both ends.

Speaker 8 So we look at specifically the East. Just to again show the parody here, like it's crazy how many teams, like from 24 points to 22,

Speaker 8 there's 12 teams. Like it's crazy.
So how tight it is. So in the East, it's very difficult to predict who's going to be better.
Like Carolina and Jersey, the head of the class, Islanders.

Speaker 8 But again, you've got literally every team separated by six points. So I would expect that your Florida Panthers are going to be better, 23 points in 20 games.

Speaker 8 The Bruins are a fascinating story because they look terrible. And we interviewed Marcus Sturman in Ottawa and he's a great guy.

Speaker 8 Like, he ain't going to be smiling in February. His team keeps it up.
They lose 7-2. Then they ripped off like seven straight wins.
Like, oh my God, the Bruins are atop the Atlantic.

Speaker 8 Now they've only had one win their last four games. So I find them very fascinating and schizophrenic, but I think they're a better team they've shown.
The Capitols, they've taken a step back.

Speaker 8 The real question to me, Roy, at least in the East, is like, which of these so-called surprises continues? Like, I think if you look at Carolina and New Jersey, it's okay, I expect them to be good.

Speaker 8 But Islanders, Detroit, Pittsburgh, which of those three is actually legit?

Speaker 8 Because once you get the 20-game mark, which we're about to hit by Thanksgiving, you say, all right, these teams are actually good or they're not good. So that's concerning.

Speaker 8 As far as the West is concerned, Colorado is incredible. This is going to be one of the great teams ever.
14-1-5. Them and Dallas together.

Speaker 8 We knew last year how good that matchup was in the Western Conference. We can only hope to get that perhaps in a Western Conference final.

They played everybody. Both teams played in mud.

Speaker 6 They were down 2-0. They were up 5-2, tied 5-5, and then they won 8-5.

Speaker 6 They gave up 15 shots. They scored eight goals and they gave up 15 shots.

Speaker 4 Sorry, they outshot Vancouver 41 to 15. Like, you can say it's a bad night for Bob because five went in on 15.

Speaker 4 The Panthers got out-XG'd in that game.

Speaker 4 The Canucks actually had more expected goals because all of their shots, like, if you watch back, all five of their goals were like point, one of them was weird. The first one was really weird.

Speaker 4 Like, all of their shots were like right there point blank chances so like yeah bob when you see five on 15 you're like god he had a terrible night but at the end of the day like you know a lot of those chances were right out in front and the defending was really bad for the panthers but they really tightened up last game they were fantastic uh defensively yesterday and bob was great as well sergey borbroski

Speaker 4 whenever he has a bad game comes right back and has a very good game. That's what happened against New Jersey.
In fact, both goaltenders had good games. Jake Allen was good as well.

Speaker 4 it seems to be a common occurrence where the Panthers can't finish the shots, especially Cardiver Hagee. What's going on with him?

Speaker 6 It's been the last couple years now that Verhe is just not finding the net the way that he had for his first several years with the Panthers.

Speaker 6 Talking about shooting percentage, his first, what, four years with the Panthers? 16.8, 14.4, 15.3, 13.8. That's all pretty solid for a goal scorer, right? Yeah.
Last year it got cut in half to 8.3.

Speaker 6 This year that's been cut in half to 4.3. Carter Hagee is just snake-bitten right now when it comes to finding the back of the net.
Is that just it?
