Speaker 1 when I'm a kid, I'm like, damn, dog, that's Matt Leonard. I always tell my homeboys in the hood, I say, dog, Matt Leonard, the coolest white boy I've ever seen.

Speaker 2 I will say I got that in the league too. I'm proud of that, man.

Speaker 1 You know what I'm saying? For real, though.

Speaker 3 All right, welcome to another episode of Throwbacks presented by Cash App, Sending, Spending, Saving, splitting, tipping, donating, more on that in a second, gifting, or just typing numbers, all with the number one finance app in the App Store.

Speaker 3 That's money, that's Cash App. And again, it's at Throwback Show on all socials.
Leave your comments on the show's YouTube page, all the social media platforms. We will read it.

Speaker 3 We will get back to you. We always do.
Matt Leinert, first and foremost. What's up, bro?

Speaker 3 How are you guys doing? You're in the LA area.

Speaker 3 How are things today for you?

Speaker 2 Yeah, you know, it's obviously been just a crazy week here. I mean, words can't describe what's happened to LA and

Speaker 2 with the fires and the families and all of that. And I'm sure you've seen the news coverage being in Ohio.

Speaker 2 It's really been sad.

Speaker 2 But I do think

Speaker 2 things are getting better, obviously, as far as the fire and the containment. So shout out to the first responders of firefighters.

Speaker 2 They were, I mean, was, it was incredible, I think, just to see those people at work 24-7 to do everything they could to slow that down.

Speaker 2 Obviously, you know, thousands and thousands and thousands of people displaced, still evacuated, still can't go home.

Speaker 2 So I did want to spend a minute just to kind of kind of rattle off a couple places where

Speaker 2 you could donate.

Speaker 2 I mean, obviously, there's a million places out there, which has been really kind of an incredible part of this to see the LA, the city of LA come together, but to support the LA fire department, support lafd.kindful.com.

Speaker 2 Obviously,

Speaker 2 they have been true heroes in this. California Community Foundation, the cowfund.org,

Speaker 2 money would go to rebuilding the communities and help families kind of get back on their feet.

Speaker 2 Pasadenahumane.org, you know, that's something like we have dogs and there's been a lot of animals. So for all the people out there, like you can donate to the humane, Pasadena Humane

Speaker 2 for the animals. And then, as you know, Jerry, just a lot of places you go online, there's so many drop-off centers.
There's so many donation centers.

Speaker 2 There's so many different companies and people that have just put things together, you know, food boxes, clothes, whatever.

Speaker 2 And just continue to do it. You know, everybody, we need a lot of help.
This city, these families need a lot of help.

Speaker 2 Do everything you can if you can. And, you know, hopefully we can kind of rebuild the community as soon as possible.
So, yeah. But still, still crazy, man.
It's just, it's been a really crazy week.

Speaker 3 I also want to point out to, you know, we work with Sinclair. Obviously, Sinclair has sinclaircares.com where all funds raised directly go to support the Salvation Army's

Speaker 3 wildfire disaster relief efforts. So,

Speaker 3 and you know, we're one of our presenting sponsors is Cash App. I'm sure today's day, it's a lot easier to get the money to the people in the places that need it.
So, whatever you could do.

Speaker 3 I've been talking a lot to our friend of the show now, my good friend Max Greenfield. We talked for a while yesterday.
He's fortunately safe and sound, but he's just completely jumped into donate.

Speaker 3 Like he, it's his job now. He is donating stuff.
He's going to all the center. Like if you look at his Instagram, he's all over the place.

Speaker 3 And I think a lot of LA is coming together, which is so crazy that it's unfortunate sometimes that tragedy is when everyone comes together. You hate that it has to happen like this.

Speaker 3 But I keep thinking in my head,

Speaker 3 you know, the Olympics are coming in 2028. Not that that matters right now because it does not, but I just think the Olympics will be one of the best comeback stories for a city.

Speaker 3 I think when we're looking back three years from now, when everyone's watching the Olympics and all that stuff, I think it's just going to be a love letter to LA and how the people came together and got each other through this horrific, horrific thing.

Speaker 3 So thinking of all of you.

Speaker 2 Yeah, you know, the hashtag kind of has been LA Strong. You know, when you think of, you know,

Speaker 2 like you said, it's unfortunate because tragic events and usually things like this help bring a community together. And it's done that.

Speaker 2 And guys like Max, and it's interesting because it's almost like I was telling Josie the other day. I was like,

Speaker 2 I feel like I feel called that we have, we have to help. You just felt like you feel like you have to do something.

Speaker 2 So I, you know, I did a few things, whatever, like any, any little thing for anybody to do, I think can help. But

Speaker 2 you just felt like this is like, you know, like, this is our city.

Speaker 2 Like we know a lot of people who don't have a home, you know, and it's like, and there's been a lot of influx of people coming down to where I am because they're trying to get their kids in school.

Speaker 2 And like, it's just like, it's, it's very sad.

Speaker 2 But like Max and shout out to Max and everybody else, but like you just kind of feel called to do something and whatever that is, whatever you can do to help. And we've seen that really this week.

Speaker 2 And that's been really, I think, incredible to see for the city of LA. So

Speaker 2 we're going to get through it. You know, it's, this is a strong, strong, resilient, prideful city.
The Palisades community is the same.

Speaker 2 And so in Pasadena and Altadena and all of the other cities that got affected. So

Speaker 2 yeah,

Speaker 2 it's been a wild, just kind of crazy start to 25, man.

Speaker 3 Yeah, and this is definitely not a show-goes-on situation, but we are here to talk about life and sports. So

Speaker 3 going off that, and we got a fun one today later on. We have a guest who you know well, I know a little bit, but I've been watching him on Fox.

Speaker 2 He's part of your Fox brethren.

Speaker 3 And yeah, some might say in the take universe, he is an up and not even up and coming. He's established now.
He might be a heavyweight king.

Speaker 3 LaShawn McCoy, you might know me as Shady, and he'll be joining us later. So excited to talk to him and

Speaker 3 pull some threads on some of those takes, but also get his input.

Speaker 3 We got a lot to go with him, but a few leftovers from the nfl weekend and then going into next weekend all right i i everyone's always talking about darnold now we've been talking about him all year you know everyone has their their take on oh he's costing himself money all that so something occurred to me man i wanted to throw by you have you ever been on social media twitter instagram whatever and seen one of the crypto bros when there's a big dip in the market whether it's whatever something gets hammered and everyone's oh it's crumbling and the crypto bros swoop in and say, you know what?

Speaker 3 This is a sale, actually.

Speaker 2 I'm going to double up.

Speaker 3 So, for everyone out there saying, Sam Darnold, you can't trust him. It's over.
He costs himself so money.

Speaker 3 Is there a team that might look at this like, hey, look, he's still going to cost us some money, but we, we maybe actually now get a discount on a guy who just won a bunch of games and looked really good doing it, even though the playoffs was the playoffs.

Speaker 2 You're right. It's a great comparison.

Speaker 2 There's a couple like big overarching questions regarding Sam Darnold. I think when you look at,

Speaker 2 do you look at this? Do you look at this year alone and the body of work, which was, what, 14 and three and

Speaker 2 really one bad game at the end of the last regular season game? Okay. We can get into the playoff game in a second.

Speaker 2 Do you look at a body of work for this year, the system, Kevin O'Connell, the team, all that?

Speaker 2 and judge it off of that or do you kind of go back to the first what five years four or five years and see like well that's that's who sam darnold is right like like that's going to be two buckets in which these teams potentially outside of the vikings view him so how do the teams view sam darnold to your point Do we get him for 40 million, which would be a massive discount in the quarterback market?

Speaker 2 And a guy who now is playing with a lot of confidence and get him into a new system with a new coach? Because you and I have talked about systems and Sam Darnold's perfect for O'Connell.

Speaker 2 Or does Minnesota just say, you know what, we know what we have in him. We still have a rookie quarterback in J.J.
McCarthy who we haven't seen a lot. He's coming off an injury.

Speaker 2 We obviously believe very highly in him to take him that high. And he's still getting paid a rookie salary.

Speaker 2 And we can franchise Sam or we can give Sam a three or four year deal at $40 million a pop and still develop JJ like we've seen Jordan Love develop. We've seen some of these guys.

Speaker 2 That to me is the question. I don't know the answer to it, but I will say this about the Sam Darnold situation.

Speaker 3 The saga of Sam Darnold.

Speaker 2 We talked about this a couple weeks ago, dude, and you knew the minute that he started just to show signs of being average, the dogs were coming out, dude. The sharks were circling the water.

Speaker 2 And that's exactly what has happened. And it happened after the Lions game.
And then we're like, ah, okay, it's one. Let's see how he does in the playoffs.
Rams were tough out.

Speaker 2 The Rams dominated them.

Speaker 2 But to me, that game, and I don't know how you watched that game, you're like thinking, well, this is on Sam. Like the offensive line

Speaker 2 was terrible. I don't think he played that bad in the playoff game.
But again, that's the nature of this beast, man. You're as good as your last game.
And that's how people are going to view him.

Speaker 2 And it's going to be interesting to see. I don't know.
Like, I'm curious to hear what you think because someone's going to offer him a lot of money. I don't know if it's Minnesota or somebody else.

Speaker 3 Or the New York Giants. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 Let me ask you a question. Would you want Sam Darnold as your quarterback for New York? Yes or no?

Speaker 3 I'm going to say no as of right now, only because I don't think the Giants could, with Darnold, be good next year. So I think we'll be in position if we don't draft a quarterback this year.

Speaker 3 I don't know if we need the $40 million or $45 million bridge quarterback to hopefully draft Arch Manning in 2026 or 7 or whatever. That's my gut right now.

Speaker 2 I reviewed it.

Speaker 2 I want to ask you this. Is Sam Darnold, and I'm just asking you.

Speaker 3 I don't know if you want him back in that building, by the way.

Speaker 2 If you want him back back in is sam i don't know if you want him back sam is sam darnold an upgrade from daniel jones and and again i know you're going to look at this year but overall i mean danny dimes led the giants and this is knock on sam i'm curious about what your thought is a new york giant fan you think for sure he would be a massive upgrade uh it's so funny watching Darnold and who is it, Mullins and Danny Jane, Daniel Jones walking out of the tunnel.

Speaker 3 I just know, mark my words, right now, whoever the quarterback of the Vikings is next year, whether it's Garnold or McCarthy or both,

Speaker 3 Daniel Jones is going to do something for the Vikings next year if he's still there. Whether it's a half, a quarter, an injury, like someone gets hurt.
It's just the way it goes. He's going to

Speaker 2 limit. Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 3 No, I'm saying,

Speaker 3 he's going to come in and win him a game and look really good and start this whole conversation of, oh, well, Daniel Joey, it's going to start. We are not done yet.
I think

Speaker 3 unfortunately, the NFL is not done yet with this guy.

Speaker 2 I think the best thing is Sam Darn. And again, these guys know this.
Like, Minnesota keeps Sam Darnold. They offer him either franchise him.
You offer him a

Speaker 2 team-friendly, semi-team-friendly deal. You know, his market, I think, has dropped a little bit.
And you still groom JJ McCarthy. And

Speaker 2 you got your situation. Kind of like what Atlanta was thinking this year with Kirk Cousins and Michael Pennix.
Obviously, it didn't work out, but that would be, I think that's the best case.

Speaker 2 If I'm Sam Darnold, and again,

Speaker 2 if you, I mean, maybe you get offered 50 yield, 50 mil to 40. That's a lot of money, dude.

Speaker 2 I get it, but like for your career longevity, staying in Minnesota, if that's the option, is probably the best thing for him with Kevin O'Connor.

Speaker 3 Well, that's something else we always talked about, too. Is like, are any of these quarterbacks maybe going to start taking less to stay in a better situation?

Speaker 3 Now, look, 40 million is not like we're saying, hey, buddy, could you make use with this change? All right. It's not like he's taking

Speaker 2 40 million years. 52, yes.
Yeah, yes.

Speaker 2 Over four years, it's what?

Speaker 3 Let me pose it to you this way, though. And I'm not trying to be a Darnold defender, but as

Speaker 3 a fan of a team who, again, I don't think in a million years the Giants would sign Darnold, bring him back to that building, but just as a fan as a team who needs a quarterback,

Speaker 3 Darnold, you know, came into the league, tons of trouble with the Jets, all these limitations. He can't do this.
He can't do this. He can't do that.
Goes to the Niners, then goes to the Vikings.

Speaker 3 Now, this year, he's proven that all.

Speaker 2 Carolina, Carolina.

Speaker 3 Carolina first.

Speaker 2 And then that's when he really came. Carolina played.

Speaker 3 And that really was where it's like, okay, here are all his limitations. And here's what he cannot do.
Yep. Then he goes to the Niners and then the Vikings.

Speaker 3 And all those things everybody said he could not do, he figured out how to do. Right.
He cut down the turnovers. Coaching.
He coached him.

Speaker 3 So now the knock is, well, he can't play under pressure in big moments. He held on to the ball very, like, that's the big knock.

Speaker 3 The pass pass rush was there, but he also held on to the ball and he disappeared in the two biggest games of the year.

Speaker 3 But you're talking about a guy who's already gotten past all the things everybody said he couldn't do.

Speaker 3 So if you are betting on Darnold and trying to get the crypto bro discount, you're betting that, all right, he's going to figure out how to play in big games and how to handle a Rams team that came in with probably a shit ton of emotion and one of the best coaches in the NFL.

Speaker 3 You're betting that he's going to figure that out. And he's already figured out so much.
That's the case to me

Speaker 3 why it's like not over and done with. But yeah, it's a, it's a, but also,

Speaker 3 yeah, you could blame Darnold. Carbon copy two years ago of what happened to the Vikings.
They won a bunch of games and the Giants destroyed them up front in the first round of the playoff games.

Speaker 3 A carbon copy with Kirk Cousins, who had an amazing year. So it's not all the quarterback.
That's the case for me of how you might talk yourself into taking the leap on Sam Darnold.

Speaker 2 I love Sam.

Speaker 2 I think he deserves to get paid. I think he should stay in Minnesota if that option is presented to him.

Speaker 3 Look out for week seven. Daniel Jones comes in the third quarter for an injury and goes for 240 runs for

Speaker 2 the third string QB.

Speaker 3 We're going to have a Daniel Jones one-game sighting.

Speaker 2 He's going to go back up Brock Purdy and Sam Fran.

Speaker 2 I don't even know who their backup is right now.

Speaker 3 Well, one other thing I wanted to ask you, and we were like texting about it, but I also want to give clarification for our listeners, but also for the people who love the NFL like me, but don't know the gritty behind-the-scenes stuff.

Speaker 2 Okay.

Speaker 3 I won some money on the Commanders.

Speaker 3 One of the only home two home dogs came through with the Rams and the Chargers, but the Commanders were my other kind of, I just didn't see, I just thought they would come out on top because everything seems to be a good one.

Speaker 2 They're dangerous, man.

Speaker 3 They're dangerous.

Speaker 3 That play at the end of the game, down three, right? Commanders kick a field goal to go up three. The Bucs are going in.
They run right down the field. They're going in third in inches, inches, right?

Speaker 3 Whatever they're going to,

Speaker 3 they come in and there seemed to be a snap count

Speaker 2 problem.

Speaker 3 Baker said, hut, once, no one moved but the center, and the center snapped the ball, and everybody was frozen, and Bucky Irving got hit four yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 3 How does that communicate?

Speaker 2 And he fumbled, right? He fumbled that play. I don't know if he fumbled.

Speaker 3 He just got stopped before yours, and they kicked the field goal to tie it. And you knew the commanders were going to score after that.
So we know what false starts look like.

Speaker 3 That was not a false start. How does the snap count breakdown happen at that juncture in the game?

Speaker 2 So I don't, yeah, so I watched that.

Speaker 3 They said it was his fault on the sideline. I don't know how it would be his fault.

Speaker 2 Which is great because QBs take the blame for everything. You should.
And if there's a fumbled snap, I don't care. in what situation, who's wrong or right, bad snap, QBs are always like my bad.

Speaker 2 That's kind of like,

Speaker 2 you just take the blame. That's on you, no matter what.

Speaker 2 And then you could talk about in the film and like

Speaker 2 at the end of the day, they know who really was at fault. Okay.
So it's interesting because in third and inches,

Speaker 2 third and one, fourth and one, fourth and inches, there's kind of two things. One,

Speaker 2 you go on quick count, right? Because you just line up, go. You don't give yourself an opportunity to do what happened.
You don't give yourself an opportunity to flinch.

Speaker 2 You go on quick count, QB, sneak, dive, whatever the play you're running. You just go up there, line up, boom, go get it, right? Hit him off, you know, kind of hit him off balance, whatever.

Speaker 2 That's one. Or, you know, you just go on your traditional for one count, whatever it is, and you try and get the first down.

Speaker 2 Going on two, and again, I wasn't there, so I don't know, but like it's, it seems like they went on a hard count, which is going on two, and whatever their cadence is, because like you said, everybody jumped or every or everybody stayed static except the center.

Speaker 2 Right. So to me, obviously that's on the center.
And how does that happen?

Speaker 2 A moment in the game, tired, overthinking it. He, you know, the play was a dive.
He's probably thinking he's got to reach the nose guard or

Speaker 2 whatever it is. Just a lot.
It's just, like in anything, like if you're reading a line, you got a brain fart, dude. Sometimes you just have a brain fart and

Speaker 2 you forget your line, right? It's kind of that simple. How do you do that in the moment of that game? It just happens, right? You're exhausted.
Maybe you thought he said

Speaker 2 on one in the hotel.

Speaker 2 That happens a lot.

Speaker 2 lot like and then a lot of times like hey what's the count what's the count again like a lot of people say that you know because you're just thinking about a million things so it's just the most inopportune time to have i just think the bucks were going to score there i don't know what happens to

Speaker 2 have to have a gaff like that in that moment man i think they were scoring a td there they were really rolling right down the field and then bake you know and baker obviously you know obviously great player you know you take blame and then you know he had the fumble earlier um on the jet sweep that really kind of changed the momentum of the game so uh it was a tough finish for them.

Speaker 2 And but yeah, man, I look to the commanders and Jaden Daniels, like they are dangerous.

Speaker 3 I'm with you. They're just not comfortable from the Lions for sure because they also feel like a team that everything is bouncing in the right direction, going back to the Hail Mary,

Speaker 3 like everything this season's sort of lining up. Right.
And they're playing great as well.

Speaker 3 I don't want to, I'm not contributing to luck, but man, to be walking into Detroit, nine and a half point dogs.

Speaker 2 The problem is, is the commander's defense is not going to be able to slow them down. Right.

Speaker 2 And let me tell you something, dude. And again, Jaden Daniels is dangerous.
I don't care if he's a rookie or not. He's a dangerous player.
To win on the road in the playoffs against

Speaker 2 playoff wins. That place is going to be fucking electric, dude.
I'm telling you, bro. I never played in the playoff game in Detroit.

Speaker 2 And it's funny.

Speaker 3 No one really did. And you're everywhere.
No, I know.

Speaker 2 Because there wasn't a whole lot of them.

Speaker 2 I played in like New Orleans on the road, you know, domes like that that are just crazy. Like, even in Detroit regular season,

Speaker 2 it's a fun atmosphere. That place is going to be rocking, dude.
So, well, that's an intriguing game.

Speaker 3 First commanders win, playoff. Playoff wins since January 7th, 2006.

Speaker 3 I was a little bad.

Speaker 2 Who was there? Let me see if I can. The quarterback.
Was that Grossman?

Speaker 2 No, he was Bears. He was Bears.

Speaker 3 Can we look up the details of who the commander, Mark Brunel?

Speaker 2 Mark Brunel.

Speaker 3 Wait, what?

Speaker 3 It was not Mark Brunel.

Speaker 2 That's Ty Fletcher. Andrew.
London Fletcher.

Speaker 3 Mark Brunel was still in a playoff game in 2006. That's insane.

Speaker 3 Well, do you have any idea? Try to think back.

Speaker 3 I know I was about 26 years old in 2006. You were then 22, whatever, 20.

Speaker 3 What was Matt Leinard up to in January 2006?

Speaker 2 Dude, we just lost to Texas in the Rose Bowl, I think, January

Speaker 2 5th or 4th that year.

Speaker 2 So you're now two days remotely.

Speaker 2 That was the beginning of a concussion. That was the beginning of a concussion for me after

Speaker 2 I got a little, I had a little too many drinks the night before at the Cabana Club and ended up. Yeah, I think I head-butted my brother.

Speaker 3 Are you like drowning your sorrows or are you just all are you like having?

Speaker 2 No, I was just I was I just was so drunk that I think I head-butted my brother and I concussed myself for like six weeks before the game.

Speaker 3 You didn't get a concussion in the championship game. Your brother concussed me.

Speaker 2 I did, too. I did.
Oh, you did.

Speaker 2 Oh, yeah. I got dinged up in that game in the second quarter.

Speaker 2 Various, you know, a degree of a concussion because I played the second half. I actually was like, I was balling.
So it didn't affect me, but I got my bell rung. I went down.

Speaker 3 A few days later, your brother rings your bell again.

Speaker 2 Yeah, so then that night, we, that night, I was, yeah, obviously crying. I was upset.
And my college career is over. The next day or the day after, we went to Cabana Club in LA when it was popping.

Speaker 2 And that was good. That was a sound.
I think that was my Michael Jordan story. Which, oh, was that who you were drinking with?

Speaker 3 And Oakley?

Speaker 2 Yeah, I've told that on here, right?

Speaker 3 You've mentioned it. And then when I went to the Jeter, Oakley's always there.
And I was like, you know what? This is either going to go well. Or anyway,

Speaker 2 that's when I had a shot. Oakley remembered.

Speaker 2 Yeah, that's when I had shots with MJ, who was like, great game. He's at the game.

Speaker 2 Blacked out that night. And then

Speaker 2 apparently, the next day,

Speaker 2 the Commanders won a playoff playoff game.

Speaker 3 They won a playoff game.

Speaker 3 How about you?

Speaker 2 I'm sure.

Speaker 3 I don't know if the math exactly lines up. It's funny how much we talk about the Golden Globes on this show.

Speaker 3 We were at the Golden Globes, and this is a big Kevin Connolly shout-out right here.

Speaker 3 So

Speaker 3 not to sound ungrateful, but we now have been going for like three or four years. And it's on a Sunday or a Monday, like playoff game, stuff like that.

Speaker 3 I don't know if it was this exact year, but this is a move Connolly created that is one of the craziest, ballsiest things.

Speaker 3 So, when you go to these award shows, you know, especially if you're nominated, they put you in certain spots in the audience, and you know, you got to be there for your awards.

Speaker 3 Like, the worst thing is if you're like in the bathroom or somewhere else when they're calling out one of the awards of a show that you or a movie that you're with, but the playoffs are on, and the award show is like three and a half hours, and the food is okay, the drinks are fine.

Speaker 3 But Connolly, we went outside, and he, it's downtown LA, He commandeered a golf cart and a walkie-talkie with the production crew. Our awards were at the end of the show.

Speaker 3 So we have to sit there for three hours before they do best comedy, best supporting actor. He's like, Ferrara, come with me.
We take a walkie in our tuxedos and a golf cart.

Speaker 3 We tell production, radio us 10 minutes before.

Speaker 3 our awards. And we drove to either Mastro's or one in a golf cart in one of these steakhouses downtown, parked the golf cart.

Speaker 3 We went in, had a steak dinner, watched the playoffs the whole entire time. And 10 minutes on the walk, he goes, all right, guys, we need the entourage guys back in their seats.

Speaker 3 We're doing your award. And we drive the golf cart flying back through downtown and get back in our seats only to lose to, I think, Desperate Housewives.
I think.

Speaker 2 Oh, was it? Yeah.

Speaker 3 They moved the award show to a Monday night from a Sunday because the ratings of Desperate Housewives was destroying the actual Golden Globe award show. And of course, that's the show that beat us.

Speaker 3 So shout outs to Kevin Connolly commandeering a walkie and a golf cart to go watch NFL football. While I know you'd say, why wouldn't you stay in the Golden Globes?

Speaker 3 Trust me, the NFL football playoffs was more important back then.

Speaker 2 The Golden Globes is like the party one, right?

Speaker 3 That's the party one. That's the party.

Speaker 2 Let me, real quick, because we're going to move on. Do you get invited to these shows every year because of just history? Or even if you're not on a show, I'm sure Power, like, but like now.

Speaker 3 Power never got nominated. So that's that's a fun, interesting conversation with Power, as successful as it was.
It's something 50 always said.

Speaker 3 50, if you look every year at the award show, he'll talk shit to the Golden Globes and to the Emmys. Power, not one nomination, one of the biggest shows to ever exist on cable television.

Speaker 2 Not one. Which is.
So do you, do you get invited to go?

Speaker 3 I haven't been asked to go in a while. The last time we went was 2016.
We presented an award right around the time the movie came out.

Speaker 3 So it's been eight years. I don't know.
I don't think they.

Speaker 2 I'm just like a plus one if you ever need one, you know? Or plus two. You bring the white.

Speaker 2 You would be a good one.

Speaker 2 I would love to go. I've never been to

Speaker 2 an award show for that. I've always, it was always like the Espys, obviously, which are fun too.
But anyway.

Speaker 2 Yeah, we did some Espies.

Speaker 3 We had to carry Adrian Grenier through the Espy red carpet when they said, Adrian, who's your favorite Yankee of all time? And I just leaned over. This is on video.

Speaker 2 He just looks.

Speaker 3 He just looks at you. I just leaned over.
I went, Matsui.

Speaker 2 And he went, ah, Matsui.

Speaker 3 So he's on the record.

Speaker 3 What's up, guys? I just want to take a second and tell you about something that's been really great in helping me maintain a healthy lifestyle. That's cachava.

Speaker 3 Whether you are on the field, off the field, or hosting a podcast like me, cachava's whole body meal shakes will keep your body and mind nourished all day.

Speaker 3 So for me, my health journey has been a long road. You know, I got into some really good shape years ago.

Speaker 3 And now 10 years later, having kids, being pretty busy with this podcast, for me, it was really hard for lunches.

Speaker 3 I feel like I could handle breakfast well and dinner well, but I needed that great meal replacement, something healthy for lunch. And that's where cachava came in.

Speaker 3 And First guess for me was the flavors. I said, what is this going to taste like? And chocolate has quickly become my favorite.
I'm a big chia seeds guy. Lots of benefits from chia seeds.

Speaker 3 They also have 25 grams of plant protein. I was curious how plant protein was going to taste.
It was pretty good, as well as 26 vitamins and minerals, six grams of fiber.

Speaker 3 And it really is good for me being so on the go. No, I have something.
And my personal move is I'm a big frozen fruit guy. That's why I get the smoothie to be really cold.

Speaker 3 So I add a little frozen fruit. When I want to feel a little fuller, throw in a little bit of peanut butter right there.
Cachava has been great.

Speaker 3 And I want to give you guys the chance to try it yourself. You can fuel your game with cachava if you go to cachava.com and use the code throwbacks for 15% off your next order.

Speaker 3 That's cachava, k-a-c-h-a-v-a.com. Code throwbacks for 15% off.
I'm curious to know your favorite flavor. Chocolate, vanilla, chai, matcha, coconut, acai.
I said that pretty right.

Speaker 3 So again, cachava.com, throwbacks, 15% off. And let me know how you like to use it.

Speaker 2 Just make sure you're ordering on Saturdays and getting rewarded. DoorDash, build up the savings, win every week.
Terms apply. Promo period through November 18th.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 3 I mentioned some of the spreads, right? Detroit minus nine and a half against the Commanders. The Chiefs are minus eight and a half against the Texans.

Speaker 3 Then you go Eagles minus six at home versus the Rams. Those are three monster spreads for the second round of the playoff game.

Speaker 3 And then to me, one of the more baffling ones, and I don't even want to get into analysis. I want to get into if you think this lines up.
The Bills are, as of now, home dogs.

Speaker 3 They're plus one and a half at home in the famous Allen Lamar matchup.

Speaker 2 Does that stick to you? I'm pulling these up right now.

Speaker 2 Yeah. So,

Speaker 2 yeah, when he told me that, I was like, really?

Speaker 2 Buffalo.

Speaker 3 And both home dogs, by the way, 2-0 over the weekend, the Texans and the Rams.

Speaker 2 I mean, listen, it's not Dogs 2-0. I mean, the Ravens are maybe the hottest team in the NFL right now, and they have probably your next MVP again.
Obviously, there's debate on that for sure, but

Speaker 2 man,

Speaker 2 I mean, I think it's a pick'em. I mean, one point is one point.
I think it's obviously

Speaker 3 one, which is funny.

Speaker 2 This game could end on one. I missed actually.

Speaker 2 That one is,

Speaker 2 if that one was like three or four, I'd be shocked. One, I'm not shocked because, you know, that game needs a toss-up.

Speaker 2 I would lean Bills because they're at home, obviously, in the way they're playing. And then also just kind of Lamar in the playoffs.
We still haven't seen him take that next step.

Speaker 2 I think to me, the interesting one

Speaker 2 is if there's a team that's going to get upset, it's going to be the Eagles this week. And I know that's six.

Speaker 2 I'm just telling you, dude, like, and Philly's been, Philly's been like the quietest great year of all time, right? Like, where did they win? They're 14 and three.

Speaker 2 Fans are angry with 14. Still flying under the radar, which is a good thing.

Speaker 2 Everybody talked about the Rams, dude, coming in.

Speaker 2 If they make the playoff with McVay, with a young, kind of nasty defensive line that we just just saw, with Stafford, who's a dog, who can run the football as well as anybody.

Speaker 2 Like, that is a team that I think can go into Philly and not just cover, because I think they'll cover the six. I think they could win, dude.
I really do.

Speaker 2 Philly's tough. Philly's good.

Speaker 2 And at Philly, obviously, you talk about home field, but that's the one where it seems a little high, but if there's a team that's going to get upset this weekend, it's the Eagles.

Speaker 3 I think that's one, too, where you got to really watch the weather. Not saying, I'm not trying to say, I mean, Stafford has a game.

Speaker 2 Is there weather in that game?

Speaker 3 Right now, I mean, it's just cold as shit on the East Coast, you know. Uh, really just win.
I mean, Stafford has a cannon, so I don't know how much it's gonna be.

Speaker 2 I mean, they wrecked him,

Speaker 2 yeah.

Speaker 3 I mean, but just up front, just the Eagles just seem so much bigger on both sides up front.

Speaker 3 But that the shocking thing for everybody not realizing with the Rams is their defense, I know throughout the season was terrible and like DVOA and all that stuff, but for the last five games, they've been fantastic.

Speaker 3 And their pass rush, as we saw, is fantastic. So that's going to be a fun one.

Speaker 2 Let me, I want to ask you a question.

Speaker 2 Because we're,

Speaker 2 the weekend is Josh Allen and Lamar, right? I mean, that's like.

Speaker 3 Someone's going to take a hit.

Speaker 2 Someone's going to take a hit. Yep.

Speaker 2 I do think a win means more for Lamar for as far as just legacy for sure.

Speaker 2 I think if Josh Allen loses this game,

Speaker 2 I think it's going to be like,

Speaker 2 you know, whatever, but he's been pretty good in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 He loses to Mahomes, really, at this point.

Speaker 2 So I think it means more for Lamar.

Speaker 2 I was thinking about this. Is this the most anticipated quarterback matchup,

Speaker 2 maybe, of all time? Because you can go Brady Manning.

Speaker 3 Brady Manning, I think, is the only thing that compares.

Speaker 2 I used to get really jacked up for those.

Speaker 3 I can't think of

Speaker 2 the fun ones. Alan Mahomes a couple years ago in that game was pretty big.
But this game, because of MVP,

Speaker 2 and then, you know, just all the bullshit narratives surrounding this, like, just everybody, you know, nowadays, it's just like you're just taking, you're just knocking everything.

Speaker 2 And it's like, it's become politicized. And it's just so stupid.
Like, two of the, I tweeted it out. It's like, guys, these are the two of the two of the best fucking quarterbacks in the NFL.

Speaker 2 It's not close. That's it.
Who gives it? Whoever wins, great. Like, these guys want to win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 It just like end all the other BS, but I was thinking about like, man, this, like, one of the more anticipated quarterback matchups we've ever seen.

Speaker 3 We always talk about which game would you want to go to if you can go and not.

Speaker 3 This would be, if you're ever going to go to a game that's not your team, that you would want to just go say, hey, I was at that game. This certainly has all the makings.

Speaker 2 It feels like

Speaker 2 I'm not going to a playoff game in Buffalo in January, buddy.

Speaker 3 You did your time. You went to Penn State and you went to South, but you did your time.

Speaker 2 I spent three or four days in Buffalo.

Speaker 2 I had a cup of coffee, threw a couple picks in a preseason game i'll say this great fucking fans man great fans even for preseason i was like damn this is the hype around the bills fans they're real and they love their team that's the funny that's why i'm a that's why i'm a pseudo-bills fan i just i enjoy them here's the funny thing that i want to just point out as an observation we're making the mistake that every analyst, podcaster, fan has made.

Speaker 3 We talked a lot about Bills Ravens. We talked a lot about the Rams and the Eagles.
we did a lot even on the command we did not say

Speaker 3 about the kansas city chiefs nothing why

Speaker 2 i sound like if yellow i'm telling you right now why are we not talking about the team that's probably telling you right

Speaker 2 i was gonna say they're gonna make the super bowl again i i i tell you it's like

Speaker 2 i don't ask shady if he shows up on time we gotta ask shady we gotta ask i i just i don't

Speaker 2 they've been playing good their offense finally kind of picked up the end of the year. It's the Chiefs, man.
Like, like, there's something about playoff football. There's something about Kansas City.

Speaker 2 There's something about Mahomes when it matters the most. Like, that all that stuff.
Cover off Kelsey, like the classic car and Ferris Bueller's day off.

Speaker 2 And by the way,

Speaker 2 someone will step up because that's what always happens. It could be D-Hop.

Speaker 2 It doesn't matter. Pacheco could go off for 200.
Like Kareem Hunt. It's just going to happen, dude.
I'm telling you right now. And it's like the curse against

Speaker 2 all those guys. Are you going to be able to do the Chiefs fatigue?

Speaker 3 Do you have Chiefs fatigue?

Speaker 3 I don't, but a lot of people do. And a lot of young people have Chiefs fatigue.

Speaker 2 As a football fan,

Speaker 2 I would love to see the Bills or Lamar make it.

Speaker 2 Because it's like, how do you not like those guys, right? Like, just from a fan, like, Lamar's the greatest. Like, you love Lamar.
You kind of kind of, people are rooting for him, right?

Speaker 2 Obviously, the Ravens historically have been great Super Bowls. And then like, it's kind of hard not to root for Josh Allen and the Bills, right? It's a likable, like, you just like the Bills.

Speaker 2 You want to see him make it because they played second fiddle to Tom Brady for 20 years, right? Like,

Speaker 2 but they paid

Speaker 2 little Chiefs. And you're like, I don't have fatigue because I just, I respect like,

Speaker 2 it's like Yankees. It's like kind of people have Dodgers fatigue right now.
It's like because they can go out and buy whoever they want. It's like, I respect greatness.

Speaker 2 And I love Andy Reid. They're not an unlikable team.

Speaker 2 No one, like, everyone loves. Mahomes is great.
Mahomes' a great superstar. Like, people cannot like Kelsey for other reasons, but like, Kelsey's an awesome dude.
Like, that's a bro.

Speaker 2 Like, you know what I mean? So I would love to see someone else make it, but shit, man. Like, I'm not betting against him.

Speaker 3 It's like these award shows, man. How many years I went? It's like, guess what? I can tell you two things that are going to happen.
Meryl Streep's going to win.

Speaker 3 Kate Winslet's going to win. If you think Jay Lewis did a movie, he's going to win.

Speaker 2 Or Christian Bale's going to win.

Speaker 2 This is more like

Speaker 2 the Pro Bowl voting, right?

Speaker 2 Not necessarily who's going to

Speaker 2 make the Super Bowl because that's one on the field. But like in the Pro Bowl, we used to vote and it was always like your top three and you would just see the guys and it was like...

Speaker 2 Erlacher comes to mind. Great.

Speaker 2 But it's like middle linebacker, NFC, Brian Erlacher won.

Speaker 2 Like it wasn't, it didn't even, and it could have been like someone else had the greatest year of their life, a no-namer, but it was always like the name.

Speaker 2 And, and, and I'm not taking a shot at Erlacher because he was great, but that was like, you just, it was just like never like, you actually never really studied it, or sometimes we did as players.

Speaker 2 That's, that's Meryl Street, right? That's like, if once you become so iconic and so just like, you're great, it's just like, you could just do whatever and you're just going to get nominated.

Speaker 2 I wonder if that's how it kind of works a little bit behind the scenes, right?

Speaker 3 I think it's like two things. One, once you're on that level and with acting, you, you get the better material, like you're getting the better movie offers and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 Two, they want you at the award show. They want Meryl Streep there.
They want Christian Bale there. So they're certainly nominated.

Speaker 3 But yeah, it's like at some point, you just know what's going to happen. And it's like, really, could they really win every single year?

Speaker 3 And that's how it was even with us with The Office, the show, The Office. We'd be at those award shows and like these sons of bits.
Look at Rain Wilson over there. He knows he's going to win.

Speaker 3 Steve Corell knows he's going to win. Their show creator.
They all know they're going to win. It's done.
You guys got it.

Speaker 3 Nah, it's all right. It's all right.
I like, we're the Buffalo Bills, though.

Speaker 2 Hey, maybe throwback. There's got to be podcast awards.
Maybe we'll win our award together. We got to get me a ring somehow.
Dude, we were, we were, so big noon, it was actually cool.

Speaker 2 We were nominated for a sports Emmy,

Speaker 2 which is a big deal, dude. Like, it's a big deal for

Speaker 2 everybody, for production, for the company, for everybody. And we lost a game day, or like we lost a game day or,

Speaker 3 you know, the TNT pregame show well yeah so we're like it's a tough it's a tough crowd but to be nominated was like a cool feeling and for you it's like once you taste it you're like well man i want to win that so anyway that was cool but like let's get a let's get a podcast throwback i had a long conversation with someone yesterday uh and they were asking about how you and i came together and i told him a little bit of history but also he was like yeah you know what too big noon's so much better than game day that's what he said i didn't even ask he's like big noon's it's just a better show like if i want to know more i just it's just a better show so shout outs big new get that sports emmy speaking of big new no one saw more ohi state games than i feel like you you definitely are a buckeye you could be part of the buckeye media with how many ohio state games you've covered professionally the big one's going on monday yeah you and ohio state's favored by eight and a half that's everyone's on them justifiably so has brady quinn driven you absolutely nuts with the Nordre Dame stuff?

Speaker 3 All I just pictured when they won, I'm like, oh my God, Brady Quinn's probably texting Matt a hundred things right now.

Speaker 2 He's actually, you know what? He's actually been kind of quiet this week. I think it's nervous.
No, I think it's more because he's having his fifth baby this week.

Speaker 3 Oh, that's a great reason. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Yeah. That's a great reason.

Speaker 2 I think,

Speaker 2 honestly, I don't want, I think maybe today.

Speaker 2 It's happening. It's happening very quickly in the next couple of days.
His wife, Alicia, I mean, everyone knows they're pregnant.

Speaker 2 That's happening pretty soon. But

Speaker 2 I was with him at the Orange Bowl last week, which was a great week, right? And we were watching the game together, Notre Dame,

Speaker 2 Penn State, and they won on the field goal. And actually, I have a funny video of him celebrating when they won.
I'm going to post that. Yeah.

Speaker 2 He's been fine.

Speaker 2 I think he understands the expectation. I think...

Speaker 2 Excuse me, anytime you get to this point, like you got a shot. Notre Dame is a really good team.
Well coached, great defense.

Speaker 2 And we've seen Ohio State at times just kind of lay an egg. And they're they're playing their best now, but anything is possible.
I will say this about Ohio State.

Speaker 2 And it's not, I could analyze the team. Everybody knows the offensive, they're elite.

Speaker 2 Ryan Day. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Ryan Day.

Speaker 3 Dead man walking a few weeks ago.

Speaker 2 This could be

Speaker 2 the greatest just F you moment in coaching history. And I say that because

Speaker 2 the expectation and Urban Meyer, and we'll have have Urban on the show one of these days. Urban always talks about the expectation to coach at Ohio State.

Speaker 2 You got to beat Michigan every year, and you're really, you're really, if you're not a national championship, it's a bust. Literally, like that, that's the level of expectation there.

Speaker 2 And then the fans hate you, blah, blah, blah. It's just a really tough coaching job.
And Ryan Day has been through the fucking ringer, dude. The last week.

Speaker 3 I live in Ohio. I live.

Speaker 3 The whole week after Michigan was

Speaker 3 Ohio State, like raiding.

Speaker 2 Dude, he hasn't beaten Michigan in a long time.

Speaker 3 All right, but everyone's talking about who his replacement was going to be after the Michigan game. Well, that's what everyone was saying in this state.

Speaker 2 And then you beat Tennessee, you beat Texas,

Speaker 2 you beat, oh no, you beat Oregon, you beat Texas.

Speaker 2 All convincingly so, though. Maybe the three of the top five teams.

Speaker 2 While the other side of the bracket was a lot less

Speaker 2 lighter, that's for sure. And you're going to probably win a national championship.

Speaker 2 I'm telling you.

Speaker 3 Well, that's what I wanted to ask you, though. In your experience, right?

Speaker 3 Ryan Day, he took all the heat after that Michigan loss. He was dead man walking there out for his job, his throat.
Can that galvanize a team?

Speaker 3 Can players rally around a coach who's like, the players didn't really take the bullets. They did a little bit, but the coach took the bullets.

Speaker 3 Could a team rally around that public just shitting all over their coach?

Speaker 3 Could that galvanize a run like this with the most talented team in the country?

Speaker 2 For sure. And one, absolutely.
And for sure, the big reason, too, when you look at Ohio State, they had a lot of guys return.

Speaker 2 They have a lot of guys on that team that have been there for a long time, which is continuity and stuff. Well, because they paid, in a world of NIL, they've paid a lot of guys to stay.

Speaker 2 And a lot of guys like a Jack Sawyer and some of these, like a Mecca Abuka, who all could have left NFL or left probably for maybe more money.

Speaker 2 A lot of them, like unfinished business, right, had to stay. So that's a...
That's a credit to the coaching staff and the culture.

Speaker 2 But like, that's also while I think this team, it's a very mature team.

Speaker 2 And even a guy like Will Howard, who's in year five and some of these guys, like some of their better players, like, so they've rallied behind their coach because they've been there for a long time.

Speaker 2 They know, they know how hard it is. They know the pain and suffering of losing to Michigan and what that feels like for the last handful of years.

Speaker 2 Like they just know, just like Michigan knew forever before that. So like,

Speaker 2 yeah, I think that team,

Speaker 2 we might see a Ryan Day on the shoulders on Monday, on Monday night. I'm telling you.
So

Speaker 3 we've talked so much about last weekend being unbelievable for sports i think this weekend's better oh yeah ravens bill all the nfl playoff i think this is this is my anytime anytime football's going monday night they're gonna go after it good luck to all my in-laws who are pulling hard for osu all right now it's time for our money moments presented by our friends over at cash app sending spending saving splitting tipping donating gifting or just typing numbers all with the number one finance app in the app store that's money that's cash app.

Speaker 3 Matt, I got to talk to you about some stuff from my money moment. It's a different kind of money moment.

Speaker 2 Do you want to star this or do you want me to get right to it?

Speaker 2 Tell me what's on your heart, bud.

Speaker 3 It's a money moment, but it's more a therapy moment. They're tied together.

Speaker 2 You know, I'm your personal therapist. And by the way, I'm free, so it's okay.

Speaker 3 I'll cash app you some money, though, if I do owe you for therapy. So,

Speaker 3 you know, you're about to have a third baby real soon. It's coming up.
Very, very happy for you guys. I can't can't wait.

Speaker 2 Are you?

Speaker 3 Are you? Uh, I know, truly.

Speaker 2 No, I know.

Speaker 3 I've teased a few times on this show that my wife really wants a third baby. She knows I'm saying all this, so I'm not betraying any trusts.

Speaker 2 Um,

Speaker 3 let's just say she's she's covered some ground in the last few weeks of us trying to have her third. I not that I've been against it, but I'm 45.
She's turning 37 today. Happy birthday, baby.

Speaker 2 Love you. Sorry to put Jumblass.

Speaker 3 And for my money moment, I just, after I got past all the how much life will change for a third baby, I started going down the road with my wife because I just don't think she knows of how much it costs to raise.

Speaker 2 That's our world. They don't care.
They just say, oh, we'll be fine.

Speaker 3 That's my money moment because you know what I remember? I remember when they're babies, they don't cost nothing. If your wife breastfeeds, there's no food.
It's just diapers and that's it.

Speaker 3 They don't cost anything. But now I got a five-year-old and a four-year-old who just went on a vacation and all this stuff.
And they're in taekwondo and basketball. And I'm like,

Speaker 3 you know, another

Speaker 2 private school out there?

Speaker 3 Yeah, they're in like a Montessori school. So you're paying a kid.
I'm not saying we should base the decision off of that.

Speaker 3 And I know a lot of, a lot of, and we're fortunate, and a lot of families, large families work across all different financial areas.

Speaker 2 Yeah,

Speaker 2 you sound like a spoiled asshole, Jerry. Come on.

Speaker 3 I'm just trying to point out my, I don't know if my wife has any idea truly how much we've spent on our two kids. Is that okay to bring up just as a money moment? Is that fine?

Speaker 2 For sure.

Speaker 2 By the way, like in my house, I'm the one that's like, well,

Speaker 2 yeah, like now we're going to have to pay for five flights. Well, a newborn, not for a bit, but like we're paying for five people.

Speaker 2 And it used to be like, you guys know, like before the boys were two, like they're lap kids, right? Like it was, you're paying for you and fly for free. Everything's fine.

Speaker 2 You buy one extra seat. So you have, yes, you can, you have three seats for four people.
Now it's like, no, you got it. You got to pay for all four.
Yeah, dude, now you got to pay for five.

Speaker 2 And then all of a sudden, in about three years, all three are going to be in Montessori or private school. I don't know.
I'm sure where you live, but it's pretty damn expensive. So

Speaker 3 again, I'm not crying the blues. This isn't like a, oh my God.
I'm not crying the blues.

Speaker 3 I'm just saying, is it when you do think about expanding your family, now that we get past all the emotional parts of it, which my wife and I have worked for.

Speaker 2 Well, I'm just thinking about it. Just because you and I think rationally, we think it's not even on the table for her.
It's like

Speaker 2 that, dude. the wives don't give a shit, dude.
They're just like, oh, we'll just figure it out.

Speaker 2 Our family's going to be complete now and this and that. And I'm like, fuck.
I mean, I get it. I get it.
Well, dude, listen, man.

Speaker 3 I think she's won the battle. I think we might, there might be some news.

Speaker 2 You already waved the white flag. Let me tell you this.

Speaker 2 You are not alone. I'm in this with you, buddy.
I have your back.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 2 We just need

Speaker 3 throwbacks to continue.

Speaker 2 So

Speaker 3 we need throwbacks.

Speaker 2 Cash app. Cash app.
We appreciate you.

Speaker 3 Or next thing you know, I'm going to be asking you, like, hey, do you need any like comedic actors on Big Noon?

Speaker 2 I'm going to be asking you to hire me a big noon.

Speaker 2 We'll give you a guest spot. You'll get a guest gig.

Speaker 2 Guest gig. Oh, thank you.

Speaker 3 We're having some good fun, but we're all awesome. We are excited for you.
And you guys have been some healthy motivation for us to expand the family. So we're in the, it'll be great for the podcast.

Speaker 2 It's always nice. It'll be great for the podcast.
It's always nice, I think, in this generally like when you have friends family friends close inner circle in the same

Speaker 2 even though we don't live next in the same timeline right like that that's what helps like you just get through it man you whether it's good bad venting emotion all this stuff you're just you're on you're on the tidal wave together dude and uh

Speaker 3 All right, you can see him on weekdays on Fox's The Facility. He's also got his own podcast with Deshaun Jackson called the 25 and 10 Show.
You all remember him as the legendary NFL running back.

Speaker 3 LaShawn McCoy joins the show. Thank you so much for coming on, man.

Speaker 1 Hey, listen, now a lot is because Matt, you know what I'm saying? That's my boy on the high school recruiting trip. He took good care of me, right?

Speaker 1 But another reason why I came on this podcast, I wanted to talk to you. Listen, I got a lot of talent, dog.
I'm trying to get into acting. Yeah.

Speaker 1 So you got some connections, though.

Speaker 3 So talk to me. Would you have wanted Entourage or Power back in the day? Like those shows are both not on the air.
Yeah, Power is kind of on the air. Which show would you have wanted to be on?

Speaker 1 Now, 50 Cent was always my favorite as a kid, right? I just got to be honest. And listen, I love them lawyers that don't mind getting a little dirty.
Yeah, I like power. Yes,

Speaker 3 hey, that was always very bigger debates: me versus Method Man, who's the lawyer on the spin-off. I'm like, don't put me up against my childhood.
Method Man is my childhood.

Speaker 3 Wu-Tang is for the children. We know that.
He was the lawyer in the spin-off. And I feel like Proctor got the better of Method Man, though, as the law, as the dirty lawyer.

Speaker 1 Yo, real talk, though, Power was like that, though only thing i don't like about power i'll be i i hate tyreek yeah i don't like him everybody got mad at tyree

Speaker 1 yo when y'all got rid of ghosts it hurt me dog

Speaker 1 listen

Speaker 3 you know people still to this day come up and ask me was that real like is that is he coming back i'm like you guys heard

Speaker 1 my answers that all day if i call my dad on this face time he's like listen i'm telling you right now he's going to come back eventually

Speaker 3 dad's one of the ghost truthers He thinks ghosts is coming back.

Speaker 1 My whole family's in that. My grandma, she's like 85.

Speaker 1 She loves, she loves power. Yeah.

Speaker 1 Wow. I love that.
But they're from New York, so I guess that's why.

Speaker 2 By the way, a month ago, or a couple months ago, we did a pod with the whole Entourage crew. So they all came back.
We haven't even put it out yet.

Speaker 2 And they made me, I had to read a whole, I had to audition in front of Jerry.

Speaker 3 We made him do an audition.

Speaker 2 Yeah, we did a few days. Remember the movie Draft Day?

Speaker 1 You remember Draft Day? Yes. Come on.

Speaker 2 By the way, Arian Foster was in that. He auditioned.

Speaker 1 Yes, he got that role.

Speaker 2 And they made me redo a whole thing, and they were just kicking my ass in this shit.

Speaker 1 Well, how'd you do? You're a quarterback.

Speaker 2 We're going to drop it soon.

Speaker 3 We're going to drop the audition soon.

Speaker 2 It's recorded. We're going to do it.
Listen, I got acting credits, man. I think I was pretty good.

Speaker 1 What did you ask me? Come on. You got to be.
Come on, seriously.

Speaker 2 Like, dude, I know, man.

Speaker 3 So, listen, right before we jumped in, you mentioned Coach Wandstad, too. And you know, you responded in a tweet where you said, Coach Wandstad saved my life.

Speaker 3 Can

Speaker 3 Can you for a second dig a little deeper? What do you, what do you mean? Like, he told the story a little bit where, you know, you'd broken your leg and that stuff, but tell us about Coach.

Speaker 1 I won't get too deep into it because I get emotional. That's like the only story that kind of gets me really emotional.

Speaker 1 You know, because like, so in high school, I'm from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, right? And I had all the, you know, the big scholarships, right? Like I said, I remember when Matt was.

Speaker 2 We're going to get there in a couple of minutes, so save it.

Speaker 2 I don't remember a lot of that weekend, so don't get me me in trouble.

Speaker 1 Yeah, look, look. Now, you know, Matt, you're my boy, but we just talking.

Speaker 1 And I remember when I'm like, damn, that's Matt Liner. You know what I'm saying? Like, oh, shit, Reggie Bush, all these dudes, Lindell White, they had all nice cars before the NIL was really real.

Speaker 1 And Matt, he had a girlfriend, right? I guess it's your baby mom now.

Speaker 2 I don't know what it is, but they was going back and forth.

Speaker 1 I'm like, oh, damn. You know what I mean? Okay, makes sense, right?

Speaker 1 But, but nah, I was a top, you know, top recruit. And I had all, what, like 78 scholarships.
It's crazy because I was so highly recruited that

Speaker 1 only the head coaches really recruited me. You know what I mean? Like, I had T-Mac was the running back coach, but I really dealt with P.
Carol. You know what I'm saying? And

Speaker 1 so I had everything. I thought I knew everything.
And then I broke my ankle. And then all them schools and calls, they stopped.
Right. And I was like, damn.

Speaker 1 And I remember when like Penn State is the in-state school, right? So they're always got to be loyal because there's other players in state they want to get from my high school or around the area.

Speaker 1 And Warnstead from Pitt, he had a big name, right?

Speaker 1 And he was still trying to recruit me. I'm like, dang, I only got like two schools left.
That's true.

Speaker 1 I try to commit to Miami just to, because I love Miami, right? All the running backs, but they honored my commitment, but they didn't really honor it, to be honest. So

Speaker 1 I remember I had to go to prep school because I didn't want to go to school no more. I was banged up.
I didn't have no scholarships. And when I get to

Speaker 1 the prep school, you know, Wall State, man, he was still talking to me the same way. He said, I'm the only coach.
This is what he told me.

Speaker 1 I'm the only coach that has the power to put you in front of the NFL scouts, put you in front of NFL head coaches. I remember him calling up Norg Termer.
He called

Speaker 1 Damian Thomason.

Speaker 1 So he was still selling me, right? And the whole time, I was like, you know what? I'm going to go to Penn State just because it's the N-State school. And like, at the time, this is a crazy story.

Speaker 1 So when I break my ankle, Penn State, they find out

Speaker 1 they don't let no doctors do my surgery. They fly their doctor, their team doctor from their game in Happy Valley, right, on a helicopter.
He comes in the Harrisburg and does my surgery.

Speaker 1 So they're thinking like, all right, this kid's got to come here because we doing all this for him. Right.
Right.

Speaker 1 So,

Speaker 1 but I didn't feel like I fit in because um

Speaker 1 paternal rest in peace he was like he had one agenda and all the the other coaches had something else. So, like, small example, I just told you I'm a 50 Cent fan.

Speaker 1 So, I got the do-rag on with the coat, with the hat, with the jersey, right? He comes in there. The coach is like, hey, take your stuff off.
Paterno's coming. Right.

Speaker 1 Right? Yeah. So then when I, so I remember Wanstead said, hey, look, let's come do a visit and just see how you like it.
So I remember telling my dad, like, I mean, it's pit. Like, come on.

Speaker 1 You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1 But I told him, I go, right? So I go take the visit and I I loved it, right?

Speaker 1 And Wanston said, yo, I'm not guaranteeing you're going to start, but I'm going to give you a chance to regain your name, regain your status.

Speaker 1 So when he told me that, you know what I mean? Then I get the pick.

Speaker 2 You know, it was real. You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 And like everybody that kind of like turned it back on me and treated me a certain way, you know, Wanston gave me a chance to regain that respect. You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 I wasn't there and I went to work. You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 Yep.

Speaker 1 I remember

Speaker 1 my my freshman year i started whatever you know like all-american stuff and all that then my second year i remember uh one of the coaches he coached in the nfl i won't say his name but he said wanstead came in the first the the first day of camp he said all right guys we gotta make some moves because 25 he won't be here long and i always you know thank wanstead for that because You know, my life has changed.

Speaker 1 You know what I mean? And like, without him,

Speaker 1 you know, who knows? You know what I'm saying? So, so Coach Wanstead really,

Speaker 1 wow. His wife, Jan, great, great woman.
You know, they're a good family, man. And, like, they really, you know, without without Wanstead, I probably, who knows? You know?

Speaker 2 Shit, man. We appreciate that.
It's, it's, I, I work with Coach and Fox forever. And there's like, and I told Jerry this too, right?

Speaker 2 And when we had him on last week, I told Jerry, I said, man, you're going to love Coach, man.

Speaker 3 He's like, I just want to go hang out with him for like an hour.

Speaker 2 He's, he's loyal, obviously. He's loyal.
He like, he's genuine. Jan is the best.
And like, I really, like, we really became family the years we worked at Fox. And we just, and I'll tell you this, man.

Speaker 2 I'm not just saying this. Like, he spoke probably the most highly of you.
He'd tell funny stories. I love that, but you could tell.
But he was like, man, Shady was my boy, man.

Speaker 2 Like, that he's like, if I could give him the fucking ball 60 times a game, I would have put his ass at Wildcat every single week.

Speaker 1 Hates quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 Hates. He hates quarterbacks.
He was like, he's like, Matt, you quarterbacks are soft. You know, Coach, he's a pick guy, man.
He's tough as nails. But,

Speaker 2 dude, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 So you okay? So you mentioned the NIL shit. Okay, so first of all, I drove a Ford Ranger at school.
I picked you up in a Hummer.

Speaker 2 No, here's a story. We went in a Hummer.
It wasn't my car, but it was a relationship prior to going. So

Speaker 2 it was a family car. We can dive into USC in a second, but I drove a white Ford Ranger pickup and my boys used to make fun of me.
Like, yo, what the fuck, dude? Why are you still driving that car?

Speaker 2 I was like, I'm not getting paid. Like some of the other guys here are getting paid.
Okay. Coach basically, and I quote, said shady.

Speaker 2 We were NIL before NIL. I remember I borrowed a Hummer.
I don't remember who drove because it wasn't me, but did I was I driving?

Speaker 1 I don't remember.

Speaker 2 I don't think so. So, okay, so we borrowed a Hummer, a friend of mine who I was friends with before, you know, all that shit.
So like it was like a long relationship. So it wasn't a

Speaker 2 violation. I just, all I remember from that weekend is, and all I tell people is like, yeah, I helped host Shady.
Obviously, I didn't do a good enough job because he didn't come.

Speaker 2 That's all I remember, dude. So you might.

Speaker 3 What do you remember?

Speaker 3 Talk to him.

Speaker 1 Shit. So when I'm a kid, I'm like, damn, dog, that's Matt Leiner.
Yo, I always tell my homeboys in the hood, I say, dog, Matt Leonard, the coolest white boy I've ever seen. You know,

Speaker 2 I will say I got that in the league, too. I'm proud of that, man.
I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 Yeah, and

Speaker 1 we wasn't a hummer, right? I remember going to, I went shopping with Reggie Bush. Oh, right.
Now we cool. Man, Reggie, we cool now, but like back then, I was like, damn, like, that's Reggie Bush.

Speaker 1 I remember we go to the mall and they closed the store down, and they said, Yo, get whatever you want.

Speaker 1 Damn, yeah, that's wild. I remember Liner, he was fighting with this girl, Argenter, all night.
I do remember that.

Speaker 2 Matter of fact,

Speaker 1 I was with, oh, you was with Lindell White.

Speaker 2 Yeah, that's my dog. They was hanging out.
That's my dog.

Speaker 1 I swear to God, man. I remember going to pit, like, damn, dog, we ain't living like USC.
Like,

Speaker 1 where's the sunshine uh the wayne jerry had the little mercedes i remember going to um we went to a rosco's chicken and waffles um what's the what's the um the big security guard and uh black dude ball head

Speaker 1 uh on friday on friday oh he played debo you talking about not debo the other one that he was selling the weed to um smokey Big perm he's talking about

Speaker 3 phase on love.

Speaker 1 Yep, him. I remember the first time meeting Snoop Dogg.
I'm like, yo,

Speaker 1 if USC wasn't as far, well, I mean, they kind of dropped the offer, but I was going there.

Speaker 2 I can't believe that.

Speaker 3 If you don't get hurt, you're going to SC.

Speaker 1 Easy. And I wasn't scared who they had.
I see the players they had. I've seen Reggie, I see all them dudes.
I'm in the mix.

Speaker 2 Would you say? So I was thinking about this. I was like, because Reggie is what, one, two years older than you? Would have been two or three.
Reggie was.

Speaker 2 He was probably because, because you remember, I mean, you're obviously a yield younger. Like, you remind me of him, right? Like, you're you're the type of game.
Was that the

Speaker 1 guy you emulated?

Speaker 2 Yeah, exactly. Exactly.

Speaker 1 I never even, since we just rapping, you from SC and all that. So

Speaker 1 I remember when I went to Pitt, my number was number 20, right? Reggie was always five. He goes to the league.
He's 25. I'm like, yo, hey, look.

Speaker 1 Hey,

Speaker 1 Revers left. He was 25.

Speaker 1 Reggie Bush, let me get that 25. I'm going to show y'all something.

Speaker 2 Hell yeah. Oh, that's right.

Speaker 1 Bro, I remember Reggie.

Speaker 1 He had

Speaker 1 every kid in the hood had the whole strips on the eyes,

Speaker 1 area code. So that's why I wear 25.

Speaker 2 Dude, I still say this today.

Speaker 2 If a kid, usually it's like, for me, it's like dads, like, oh, you know, son, this is Matt. He played at USC.
These kids have no clue. I'm like, guys, you guys know who Reggie Bush is?

Speaker 2 They're like, yeah. I'm like, I was his quarterback.
That's literally what I say. And they're like, oh, and then they, I'm like, they have no idea.
But like, that's the imprint, man.

Speaker 2 That dude in college was ridiculous, man. Like, he, he was the best college football player I'd I'd ever seen, like, what he was able to do.

Speaker 1 It was

Speaker 1 incredible. Even like getting to know him in the league.
So, we played with

Speaker 1 in Buffalo together.

Speaker 2 I was going to say, you guys probably played in Buffalo for a year. Yeah.

Speaker 1 And, like, and no, I'm real competitive, right? Like, I don't, like,

Speaker 1 I remember, I was with the Eagles. I remember we got Ronnie Brown and the whole camp, like, I was on his ass just to let him know, like, you know what I mean? This is weird.

Speaker 1 Like, competitive nature we had.

Speaker 2 Yeah, of course.

Speaker 1 And when we got Reggie, it hit me like, oh, you bringing in Reggie. And then the other fans saw it was like, shit, I'm about to play with Reggie.

Speaker 1 And that's how I knew, like, dog, this is really like my childhood high school idol. You know what I mean? Because normally I wouldn't have been like that.

Speaker 2 That's pretty rad.

Speaker 3 So you said you had what, 70-something offers.

Speaker 3 Are there any other school visits, though, that stand out?

Speaker 3 Obviously, SC, but any other schools, even just the visit, maybe you weren't going to go, but you were like, that was a great, that's a great spot.

Speaker 2 I'm just not going to go there.

Speaker 3 Anything stand out to you? I'm obsessed because I didn't really, I barely went to college. So I think this is like crazy.

Speaker 1 How are you doing good for yourself then? That's pretty good, bro.

Speaker 2 I'm all right. I'm all right with no college.
College ain't for everybody, Shay.

Speaker 1 College ain't for everybody.

Speaker 1 You know what? This is a crazy story. So I go to Penn State.
This is when Mike Robinson was having a phenomenal year as a quarterback.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Right.
Mike was nice, too.

Speaker 1 I was this dude named Vidal Hazenson, one of the top wide receivers. Did you? Would you? No, you left before.

Speaker 2 He was at SC.

Speaker 1 I know, but

Speaker 1 he transferred. But you didn't play well because he was.

Speaker 2 No, but I remember the name and recruiting. Like they were recruiting him.

Speaker 1 Yeah, so we're there, and um, he's the top wide receiver, whatever. And uh,

Speaker 1 Penn State was a phenomenal like Tom.

Speaker 1 And they were, we were having a conversation. And um, I've always been like this real honest, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1 And it's nothing like a it doesn't come from like a malicious place, I'm just being real.

Speaker 1 And we were talking about like the quarterbacks, and these dudes were trying to say that Mike Robb was better than Vince Young.

Speaker 1 So I'm like,

Speaker 1 whoa, fellas.

Speaker 1 Are y'all joking? Are y'all serious? And then we go back and forth. And then he shows up.
Mike, he shows up. So me and the guys are arguing and Mike's in there.
And he was a super cool dude.

Speaker 1 He was like, it's all good.

Speaker 1 He's a young buck. You know, he don't understand.

Speaker 1 And to this day, we always talk about, because it was a rumor that we had a fight, which we never fought. And me and Mike always laughed about it.
Like, everybody made a big deal about it.

Speaker 1 And I was a 17-year-old kid, just was speaking his honest opinion because Mike had a phenomenal year, but if it's young and, well,

Speaker 2 you know. I mean, you know.

Speaker 3 Listen, man,

Speaker 3 I was listening to you the other day

Speaker 3 calling chase daniels on the phone your your take on darnold man i i said it earlier in the show you said at some point how like superstars struggle but then they get back to themselves you call so i would not mess with you with evaluation man you've been

Speaker 1 think about that for a second though right it makes a lot of sense everybody's like so i'm a guy he plays so i think like you're not surprised see the thing i like about what people do now is if you're a really really good player right like lamar jackson and he's struggling in the playoffs, they never forget.

Speaker 1 They never forget that.

Speaker 2 They hold on to it forever.

Speaker 1 And then soon to do like Sam Darno, who's been what he's been, he plays well, it's like you forget that he was bad.

Speaker 1 I just hate that part of it because it's so hard to be good and consistent every year in the league. It's hard.

Speaker 3 So you mentioned Lamar earlier in the show. We were talking about this might be the best second round non-Super Bowl matchup.

Speaker 2 Even some Super Bowls, man.

Speaker 3 Like, the matchups aren't always this good.

Speaker 3 And I know you played with Josh Allen. I mean, what do you,

Speaker 3 that's the one game I can't, like, first of all, the Bills are at home dog, which is kind of crazy. They're getting points at home.

Speaker 2 Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 What do you think? I'm not even asking for a prediction, but just how do you feel about this game with those two battling?

Speaker 1 That's a heavyweight fight. Lamar Jackson is a two-time MVP.

Speaker 1 I've never seen him play this good. I mean, dude looks like Superman, running the ball, throwing the ball.
Right, extending plays, winning football.

Speaker 1 And then Josh, I've been so I like named in the franchise when he's a rookie.

Speaker 2 You know what I mean? He's a freak, man.

Speaker 1 Bro, tough as nails. I know.
Talk about. I run you over.
He's always been like that. I jump over you.
I throw the ball 80 yards in the air. He's a beast.
And like I say him,

Speaker 1 even he's outnumbered. You look at the Ravens team, right? They got like nine Pro Bowlers, and Josh got like two.

Speaker 2 Thank you for saying that, by the way, to Jerry, because Jerry thinks his supporting cast is really good.

Speaker 3 I like Shakir a lot. I like Keon Coleman.

Speaker 1 I think they're all right.

Speaker 3 I think those are good guys.

Speaker 1 Them dudes don't even make other teams for real, though. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 2 Listen, I can't debate you, man.

Speaker 1 You've been right about everything.

Speaker 1 Like, with Shakir, you think he would start on the Ravens right now?

Speaker 3 No, I mean, I think he'd be their number 10.

Speaker 1 He's solid. He's solid.
He's not.

Speaker 2 Yeah, he's solid.

Speaker 3 It'd be nice to have him with no Zay Flowers. It'd be nice to have him.

Speaker 1 I'm saying Zay was playing, right? Zay was playing. No, he's not going over Zay.
That's what I'm saying. It's like Josh loses Stefan Days and you still up for the MVP.

Speaker 1 You know what I'm saying? Like, that's hard as shit to do. You know, like, Matt, you'll understand this.
Like,

Speaker 1 so now that, like, I'm on TV, I watch Mad Film, Mad Tape. Of course.
And I've seen, like,

Speaker 1 when Josh and them lose, right?

Speaker 1 The other opposing defenses play straight man coverage. We're going to play man

Speaker 1 because our quarterbacks is better than your wide receivers. So that's why Josh could hold the ball and do all this crazy shit to get these extended plays because they're not really getting open.

Speaker 1 They're not open. You know what I mean? And then, like, Lamar.

Speaker 1 Lamar is great overall, but you got like Derrick Henry and them guys. So I I just,

Speaker 1 if it's, if I'm picking the team to win, I think Lamar and them probably wins their overall better team.

Speaker 2 You still think, I know you've been high on Josh to win the MVP. Do you still believe he should win the MVP?

Speaker 1 Yes. Yeah.

Speaker 1 It's so hard to do the things he's doing with the supporting cast. Like, I think about if he doesn't play well in the game, they can't win.
Lamar plays bad, though.

Speaker 3 They could find a way to win. Derrick Henry could have 200 yards.

Speaker 1 You get what I'm saying? Like, that's a real thing. And Josh finds the way he's, bro, he's different.
He's different.

Speaker 3 Do you think the winner of that game, regardless of, I don't know what's going to happen with the Chiefs and the Texans, you assume for a minute it's going to be the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 Do you think the winner of the Bills-Ravens game is going to the Super Bowl?

Speaker 1 I can't do it. I can't say that.

Speaker 2 All right, good.

Speaker 1 I feel like everyone...

Speaker 3 No one talks about the Chiefs enough for me. I'm listening to the situation.

Speaker 2 They're still sitting, right? They're just sit there, like waiting with another home playoff game.

Speaker 1 It's crazy because it's like, yo, like every conversation I hear is Josh Lamar. I'm thinking, like, yo, we got a dude that's going for a three-peat.

Speaker 1 We got a

Speaker 1 head coach. And you're the best MIP of all time.
And the thing is, like, it's like Jason. Like, I got to make sure he's dead.
I think this might be the year we killed each other.

Speaker 1 Let me make sure. He always comes down.

Speaker 1 You would have told me last year the Chiefs would have won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 Now, I'm not, yeah. In 2019, right, I was blessed to go back to where Andy Reed.
You know, as you leaving out, you want to steal some rings. You know what I'm saying? Hell yeah.

Speaker 1 So I got me a little ring and um i watched them win with like speed explosive offense okay defense pat making plays tyranny hill right all that stuff then they move from that the next year the robust not as good they dropping passes they still win you know what i'm saying like they just find a way to win and now you get them guys that was injured hollywood brown and all that they they they gonna be good man I can't believe you you're saying you played with Reggie because Matt and I were talking about this before you came on too.

Speaker 3 So you've played with Josh Allen.

Speaker 3 You've played with Mahomes.

Speaker 3 You had some time with Brady, right?

Speaker 1 I played with Brady for the whole year.

Speaker 1 You played with Michael Vick.

Speaker 1 Don't count our chips off.

Speaker 3 I'm never, no, never. We count all the chips over there.
I count my Beach Ball MVP award at the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 That goes on your Hall of Fame resume, bro.

Speaker 2 You're going to be just fine.

Speaker 3 I mean,

Speaker 3 I don't think anyone has that. part of their career that you could say that you've played alongside.
That's why, like, when I listen to you on Fox, it's like, you got to pay attention.

Speaker 3 These guys play with the best of the best.

Speaker 2 It's like so clear.

Speaker 3 So like, what do you gather? Like seeing all those quarterbacks, are they really just different?

Speaker 3 Like we're talking about Darnold, but like just the way, like you said, the best players at some point, even if they're having a bad run, are going to come back to what they were.

Speaker 1 It's crazy how they are so similar, but they're all so different. Like the similarities is like they're, they're all three of them dudes.
Oh, super crazy competitive.

Speaker 1 I mean, Brady's like nuts with it.

Speaker 1 i remember being in practice with him and you know he's slow as nails and everybody makes jokes about it right and that's just funny and then you start seeing him at practice at the end

Speaker 1 challenge with dudes to race

Speaker 1 you get i'm saying that is psycho like what are you doing

Speaker 2 man you're old

Speaker 1 the other thing is like they they all they they all um

Speaker 1 they're not worried about each other but they all ask about each other like i remember um when i went to when i left the bills and i went to the chiefs now now pat is the big dog obviously but he would say ask little things like damn like you know josh got a big arm and asked about things like that yeah and i leave there then i go to the bucks and brady now obviously he's the big dog he ain't really worried about pat but he says stuff like you know the no look passes and this and that and he was asking how he worked and how he prepared and in my head i'm like damn he's

Speaker 1 He was interested to know how Pat is. And I remember saying, I remember telling us that he knew that Patrick Mahomes was a different quarterback when it it was time for him to get a new contract.

Speaker 1 And he got such a long contract so he could pay other players. Right.
Where normally you see the quarterbacks, oh, you want to give me $50 million? Give it to me. Come on.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 And Pat and

Speaker 1 Brady was the same way. I'd rather get all my weapons some money because for me to win championships, I ain't working with no money.
I want to win championships.

Speaker 1 And for one to do that, I got to pay players on my team. So they all are super similar.
I think Pat is probably

Speaker 1 he has it all as far as the talent with the arm and the running ability, the it factor of the win. And he's smart enough.
Where Brady was just, he's so much more smart than everybody.

Speaker 1 I remember in the game where we in the playoffs, I won't even say which game it was, but

Speaker 1 and the whole week, the coach is saying, how, yo, they're going to play this coverage.

Speaker 2 Brady has his own little meeting.

Speaker 1 right? He texts all the skilled players. Fuck what he's talking about.
Listen, they gonna play this in this coverage.

Speaker 1 Brady he was sold out and dawg in the Super Bowl, he went through like he did if he was at home and did a video on all the cornerbacks, the linebackers, the safeties, the stars in the backups saying he's bad at man, he's bad at man coverage, he's better at his own.

Speaker 1 He, his deficiencies are, are off coverage. Everybody, damn.

Speaker 1 We were in the, we were so when we get to work, all the skilled guys, the running backs, the wide receivers, we like, dog, this dude is freaking different.

Speaker 2 He's psychotic, dude.

Speaker 1 he want to play right now prime

Speaker 2 was he was he i think there's no argument that he's the greatest of all time maybe pat gets there one day obviously easy right if and they're all different like you said if there's someone and it's probably between pat and tom but like prime pat tom

Speaker 2 game on the line two minute like like you're like i want pat all day or i want shit maybe it's michael vick i don't know i want tom all day who who who's that qb for you

Speaker 2 I mean, maybe it's Josh Allen. There's no wrong answers, really.
There's nothing wrong with it. There's no wrong answers.

Speaker 1 I think I'll say this, right? Right.

Speaker 1 There's nobody like Brady, right? There's nobody like Brady. So Brady is always going to be the answer because you see what he does.
Different teams, different coaches. Shit don't matter.

Speaker 1 I'm going to win. Only thing I'll say about Pat, and Pat does have Andy Reed, which people need to start giving him more credit.

Speaker 2 I've told Jerry that a bunch, man.

Speaker 1 But I don't know if he would be that. You know what I mean? Like, he'll be great, but Andy makes it a lot different.
Like, touchdowns, you score in the Super Bowl uncontested.

Speaker 1 That's Andy Reed any Pat. I would say out of all the quarterbacks, because Josh Allen is that if factor, too,

Speaker 1 I'm going to give it to Pat, though.

Speaker 1 I watched Pat dog.

Speaker 1 I'm going to win this game. All right.

Speaker 1 Y'all ain't blocking up front? Cool. I'm going to run around a little bit.
Okay.

Speaker 1 Y'all dropping passes? Cool. I'm going to run.
I'm going to score with my legs.

Speaker 3 Throw it to myself.

Speaker 1 He's that guy. Pat.
So, a minute left, two minutes where it is. He's going to find a way to win.

Speaker 1 We had a game, playoff game, and one of these, a really good tackle we had was, you know, sometimes Matt, you know, on the summit line and could get a little soft. You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 Fucking 6'5, 350 pounds.

Speaker 1 Your toe hurts. You act like you, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 1 The tackle was the whole week, because the training room is like your hangout spot. You know, I talk a lot of corners.
I'm in there talking shit to everybody. You know, you hang out.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 1 And Pat would come in every day to check on the tackle. Hey, hey, how's he looking? Is he gonna play? How you, how are you feeling? Ah, Pat, man, just not, I'm not sure, man.

Speaker 1 Just, I'm getting a little better. I'm tense, I'm tense there, you know what I mean? 10% better.
Every day, we got the Friday. That's the last day of real work.

Speaker 2 Yep.

Speaker 1 The big ass tackles acting soft.

Speaker 2 Pat walks in there. He's out.

Speaker 1 How's he doing? How's he?

Speaker 1 Same situation. Pat said, F him.
I'm going to win without him. No, F him.
I'm going to win with him or without him. Walked out.
We won that game.

Speaker 3 That's cold that's cold cold that's cold hell yeah yeah pat pat's a different different brother well listen we talked about quarterbacks a lot but i came to the realization when i'm looking at the slate and i know you know you're the perfect guy to talk to about this it's can't be a surprise that i don't know three of the best whatever you want to say six or seven running backs in the nfl are left you got derrick henry you got saquan going uh jameer gibbs to to me, has come around to lose Monte

Speaker 3 and he just goes to the next level. Kyra Williams, no slouch.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 And like this whole, you know, everybody's like, oh, the running back because you could kind of plug anyone in there, which I think was always bullshit.

Speaker 1 Bullshit.

Speaker 3 It's not surprising to you, right? That, and look, McCaffrey was out this year. He made the Super Bowl two out of the last four years.
So

Speaker 3 are we now back to reality where it's like, no, no, you need a really good running back to win in the playoff.

Speaker 3 Maybe you could win some games in the regular season with a trio, but you want to win in the playoff like what's your take on the running backs that are remaining no you you see it and you said it right we're coming back you know that's why i was so pissed off and saquon's my boy but you know i'm like yo man go get that record because it's bigger than you or

Speaker 1 yeah it's like i wrote the narrative of okay you can pay the backs anything and and you can still win you know you don't need them but you pay all these regular quarterbacks you know say all this crazy money regular quarterbacks to pay them elite money when they're not elite you know what i'm saying and i think now if you look at all the winning teams they running the ball like derrick henry is a big reason for lamar success too and the ravens the eagles oh my god saquan's like come on man where would they be

Speaker 1 yeah you know what i mean you look at even like josh jacobs i went to that game god he's a if he's not even there it's not even like even like a close game you get i'm saying you look at the gibbs as much as i like jared golf he's doing really really well right but is he the same without that type of running game you get what i'm saying and now i think it's more of a, it don't care about the position no more.

Speaker 1 It's really about you, we're trying to win. And I think the teams that are trying to win, they are paying their running backs.
Yeah. And it's working out for them.

Speaker 2 Would you have taken a knee like Saquon the other day? Would you have housed that call?

Speaker 1 Come on, Maddie. You know me, baby.
I know. I text Saquon, like, what are we doing? We scored.
Like, hello?

Speaker 2 Dude, that was a 90.

Speaker 2 God, man, if you would have broke ED's record, man, shit, that would have been.

Speaker 1 He should have broke.

Speaker 2 It probably will never be broke. You know, I mean, the longevity, like, you, it's, like, that's seven.
Now it's 17 games, but healthy, you got to average, what, 160, 70. I mean, that's just,

Speaker 1 that's wild. I was wondering, Matt, you know what? So, so

Speaker 1 we had a little, we had a little smoke. We had no beef.
You know what I mean? But I, yeah, he was talking, Smack. My peace.
And I watched him say,

Speaker 1 what did he say? Oh.

Speaker 1 Absolutely not. I don't want to break my record.
He was like, which I don't think he is. But if he did, it took him an extra game to do it.

Speaker 1 So, I did my due diligence in my homework, and I see that my boy OJ rested the juice

Speaker 1 situation, you know what I mean? I'm like,

Speaker 1 it's bigger than that, dog. Like, the next generation, you know what I mean? It's a 40-50-year-old record.
And I feel like now, when the owners is like, oh, well, we only need the running back.

Speaker 1 When you look at a guy like Saquon, who was in hell in New York, you come to Philadelphia with a good team, it lets you know, okay, we could break records.

Speaker 1 We go to the playoffs, we could be a one or two seed if we get a good running back. So, it was bigger than Eric Dickerson.
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 It was the opposite of Barry Sanders, you know, in college where Ashton Genti, who I'm sure you watched, and he was a dog.

Speaker 1 He's gonna be good.

Speaker 2 Yeah, we were at, we covered the Mountain West game, but Barry was like, had the opposite. Like, man, I welcome him.
I would love to see him break it, all that.

Speaker 2 And he obviously he fell short, but totally. I mean, dude, I think we've said on the show, man, it's like the year of the running backs.
The running backs are back, dude.

Speaker 1 Fucking back. Baby, we back.
Hell yeah.

Speaker 2 Like, you know, you were never left, but you're just back. You're just back now.

Speaker 1 So, but the respect's back. The respect's back.
Exactly. Exactly.
I see what you're saying.

Speaker 2 All right.

Speaker 3 Now we got to get to the

Speaker 3 what

Speaker 3 TV show you want to be on, man. I really, you sold me on your acting ability just watching today.
You're a very charismatic guy. Is that, I mean, we can't pull you off the Fox show, though.

Speaker 3 That's a great, you got a great gig right now.

Speaker 1 So you got to be in the middle of the day.

Speaker 1 Right? Throwing the money at me. So I'm going to beat her for a little bit.

Speaker 2 Don't worry about that. Give.
We love you on there, too, man.

Speaker 3 We can't lose you.

Speaker 1 Hey, how are the acting? How are you like it?

Speaker 2 How you liking the TV stuff? It's fun, huh?

Speaker 1 Well, it's hot right now, but

Speaker 1 before the hot.

Speaker 2 But in general, like just being on, like, talking the game. Like, I mean, I'm in college, but it's just like, it's fun, man.
It's good to see you on there. You're crushing it, dude.

Speaker 3 You're doing, you're so good.

Speaker 2 Honestly, by the way, some of your takes are

Speaker 2 questionable, but it's still fun.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 1 I need that.

Speaker 1 I need that.

Speaker 2 Well, no, we have like two minutes left. I know Jerry has, Jerry, the take we were talking about that you're like you actually agree with Shady on.
Are we talking about boxing? Yeah.

Speaker 3 Did you, did you say Mike Tyson's overrated? Is this confirmed? Did you say that take or no?

Speaker 1 Mike's one of the most overrated headweights of all time.

Speaker 3 So here's where you

Speaker 2 agrees with you.

Speaker 3 Because you had me with Darnold and I watch you when I can a couple of times a week. And I'm like, all right, Shady really got.

Speaker 3 So the Mike Tyson thing, you stopped me because I'm look, I love Mike Tyson.

Speaker 3 And I'm 45 years old. So he was the scare.
But I'm talking to one of my boys, and I'm like, you know, Shady said Tyson's overrated. And he hit me with this question.

Speaker 3 He said, name five guys Mike Tyson beat.

Speaker 1 And I went, uh,

Speaker 3 well, Corey Michael Spinks.

Speaker 1 He was bigger than him. Come on.

Speaker 2 Older, Larry Hope.

Speaker 3 I got to like four and I'm like, shit, it kind of, because Mike's problem too is like he went to prison when he should have fought Holyfield and Razor Ruddick and Riddick Bow.

Speaker 1 He ducked Holyfield before he went to jail, too. Right.

Speaker 3 So you sold me a little. I'm scarce even saying it.

Speaker 1 no no no no no no no no no so so my pops right let me tell you my dad my dad was a big dude like he he was big on like yo you never talk about something unless you know about it so we had me reading all types of newspapers and looking stuff up on rugo like with my son right now um we were with um

Speaker 1 paul pierce yeah and i said you know what this is he's like i don't know i don't know what that is truth first right and he's like oh okay i'm like okay

Speaker 1 so i said yo you can do a report on him i do reports on alan irvis michael jordan so so you know what you're talking about right that's so good okay so look before i give you my take on mike my dad um um

Speaker 1 magic and uh larry bird now respectfully i say ain't no way a white boy gonna be better than master johnson like ain't no way he made me watch all the playoffs series at the end of the playoff series this is still my opinion i'm taking larry bird yeah man

Speaker 1 this is me

Speaker 1 larry was a dog okay So Mike Tyson, right? We all love Mike, especially in the black community. We love Mike.
I remember as a kid, the base can be full of a whole bunch of people.

Speaker 1 We just watching the fights. But then I really look at it like, who you really beat, though? Could you say Michael Spence?

Speaker 1 Because he was small.

Speaker 1 Mike was smaller than the other.

Speaker 3 Mike was terrified. Spence was terrified walking into the ring.
You saw in his face. He looked like he was a puke.

Speaker 1 Old Larry Holmes. He's from Eastern Pennsylvania.
So I know all about Larry Holmes, right?

Speaker 1 Larry was older, okay?

Speaker 1 And then when Mike won his belt, he fought a dude named Trevor Berg.

Speaker 2 Trevor Burbick. Yep.

Speaker 3 Yep. That was a tough guy.

Speaker 1 That was the guy. Two, three fights before he fought Mike Tyson.
Do you know his name? We fought? Who? His name is Muhammad Ali.

Speaker 1 That just shows you you beat an old ass Laban Ali and then you fought Tyson for a belt and we talking about you the greatest.

Speaker 1 You can't name the other dudes he beat that was champions because when you fought Hall of Fame dudes like

Speaker 2 Lennox Lewis

Speaker 1 He stopped you. Okay.
Then he fought who else come on Holyfield was the Holyfield two two times because he couldn't do nothing with him holyfield wasn't scared

Speaker 1 i love mike mike was great but when you start putting out the greatest hall of uh uh heavyweights he can't he can't mess with the mic by the way i'm stealing that my my i have two sons five and three book reports on the on the

Speaker 1 that is such a great great call right there you want to earn some v bucks or whatever things you want to buy give me turn in the report on on laughter third i'm a i'm a i'm a piss advanced dude the whole way i love the sixers the eagles everybody and um i remember uh now i named the reporter alan irison All right.

Speaker 1 We went to the game with the front row. Everybody's treating us good.
You know how it is. You know, we're in town, whatever.
Tyrese Maxie, that's one of my favorite Sixers. Yeah.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 And he's like, he's like, dad, you like him? I said, yeah. I said, get his jersey.
We buy his jersey, whatever. He signs it for him.
He said, well, how good is this? All he's good like Alan Iverson.

Speaker 1 He's all for real? All right, cool. Because I made him a reporter, Alan Iverson.

Speaker 3 So he had the reference.

Speaker 1 We watched the game. After, now my son's, he's 12 now.
This is probably like two years ago. He's like 10.

Speaker 1 We watched the game. The first thing we get in the car, the driver, you know, we're driving off.
He says, Dad, man, you lied to me. I said, What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 You told me that Terry Maxie was like Alan Iverson.

Speaker 2 He's not.

Speaker 3 He's kind of true. He's kind of right, man.
I love Maxi, but

Speaker 3 his son's right.

Speaker 3 That was a different Allen Iverson's compare. Oh, you can't really compare Iverson.

Speaker 1 I was trying to think of a guard because score is small. You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 No, but he's the best Philly guard since Iverson.

Speaker 2 That's

Speaker 2 a problem. Yeah, sure.
So

Speaker 3 I finally, thank you too for talking some hoops. I'm finally getting mad.
Once the NFL season's over, we're going to dive. I'm a big hoops.

Speaker 2 I'm a Nicks. Jerry's a die-hard Knicks fan, man.

Speaker 1 Knicks, they slowly getting there, though, though.

Speaker 3 Figuring it out. It's like two steps forward and then a few steps back.

Speaker 2 I'm working on a.

Speaker 2 You're in LA full-time now, right?

Speaker 1 Or at least doing the show. Yeah, for most

Speaker 1 of you.

Speaker 2 Intuit. Yeah.
Have you been to Intuit Dome yet?

Speaker 1 For the Clippers?

Speaker 3 The new Clippers, the new arena.

Speaker 1 Oh, I didn't bet. I didn't order it yet.

Speaker 2 So I'm working on, I got a nice setup for Nick's. Nick's come to the Clippers in March.
We'll go. It's like a courtside.
It's funny.

Speaker 1 Let's do it. You know, the Clippers, James Hardy, he got mad at me because I said some takes about him.
So it's like, I'm trying to.

Speaker 3 Don't you stop.

Speaker 2 Don't you stop. I'm going to let you do.

Speaker 2 But the experience, dude, it's, I was actually, I was with Gurley. Todd Gurley was right there.
I was with you. What if I?

Speaker 2 Yeah. Ask him about it.
He goes to a couple games. So

Speaker 2 it was incredible. So

Speaker 2 Hey, we appreciate you coming on, man.

Speaker 3 Yeah, I can't wait to listen.

Speaker 2 Keep doing your thing. I'll be watching, man.

Speaker 3 Honestly,

Speaker 3 you're someone I'm like must see for me on Fox. You're doing a great job, so keep it up.
And thank you for coming on. And enjoy the games, man.

Speaker 1 It's going to be a good weekend. I'm going to find out.
What's up? Appreciate y'all, man. Thanks so much.

Speaker 3 All right. Now it's time for dynamic duos presented by Wendy's.
Two faves for just seven bucks. Got to be Wendy's.
Terms apply.

Speaker 3 This is where each week Matt and I are going to target our favorite duos whether in sports or entertainment obviously tis the season for the nfl playoffs we are going to do our favorite duos left in the postseason okay and there's you look at all the games there's quite a few directions to go matt do you want to go first yeah i i'm curious to see where you go with this i have no idea what you're going to say i think there's there's there's obvious ones and like lamar and derrick henry right like there's there's obvious i'm going maybe you have the same.

Speaker 2 I'm going with

Speaker 2 Jared, and not necessarily my favorite, but I think most on the line, Jared Goff and Ben Johnson.

Speaker 3 Oh, okay. You went non-player.
I like what you're doing.

Speaker 2 Yeah, so

Speaker 2 just real quick, like, obviously the Lions and the offense, right? This is the number one scoring offense in the NFL.

Speaker 2 Shaky defense a little bit just because of the injuries and everything that's happened, although they're still playing pretty good.

Speaker 2 Since Ben Johnson became the OC, Goff has the most passing yards and the most touchdowns in the NFL. 96 touchdowns, almost 14,000 yards passing since Ben Johnson, right?

Speaker 2 This is the last time these two are going to be together because Ben Johnson's getting a head coaching job this time. He turned it down last year.
He's gone. He's going somewhere.
There's no doubt.

Speaker 2 He's probably the number one candidate out there for most teams, in my opinion. Maybe McCarthy now, but I would say Ben Johnson.

Speaker 2 Look, I think the biggest thing is like, this team is the best team in the NFL.

Speaker 2 Windows close real fast in the NFL outside of the Chiefs and the Patriots, right? Windows close.

Speaker 2 Jared Goff, right, has a chance to elevate his status as maybe probably a Hall of Famer if he wins a Super Bowl. I mean, his numbers are great.
He's won a lot of games. He's been to a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 He can kind of get that monkey off his back.

Speaker 2 I just think there's a lot at stake for the Lions as the number one team going into the playoffs. You're going to lose both coordinators.
Aaron Glenn's gone too.

Speaker 2 You're going to lose both coordinators. Your quarterback is playing well.
Is this the year they finally do it with those guys?

Speaker 3 I love that one. I love that you went non-player.
I wasn't even thinking in that direction. That's a great one.

Speaker 2 Who you got?

Speaker 3 I didn't want to do the popular choice, but how it just is Lamar and Derrick Henry.

Speaker 2 Oh, you did do it.

Speaker 3 It's been the most potent one-two punch, but the exercise of how I came up with this was fun because

Speaker 3 every team has their own version of a duo except the bills and the chiefs right who's the duo for allen we talk all the time we argue oh he doesn't really have anyone and it's true well you talk about james you talk about james cook cook but but there's no one on that team that every week you're like i think i think you're i think you could be afraid of james cook at times he's a good player but like sure but it's not derrick henry or saquon barkley level and then similarly with mahomes it's still to be seen right and like we said earlier in the show it could be anyone at any time.

Speaker 2 That's how dangerous it is.

Speaker 3 It could be Andy Reed.

Speaker 2 It could be Kelsey.

Speaker 2 Andy Reid and Mahomes. Or Andy Reed.
It's all in the playoffs, yeah. But it's Lamar.
It's Lamar and Henry.

Speaker 3 I tried to talk myself into how fun Stroud and Nico Collins are. And it's a lot of fun, but I can't.
Stafford and Puka tried to talk myself into that. I don't know how well

Speaker 2 Hurts and Barkley.

Speaker 3 Hurts it. Well, that's maybe

Speaker 2 Hurts and A.J. Brown.
Like, they're going to have to throw the ball. I mean, who knows?

Speaker 3 I try. And then really, I really, I love the way the ends played for the Texans.
I almost went that direction because they single-handedly broke the Chargers' brains.

Speaker 3 But it's just, it's, it's Lamar and Derrick Henry. It's, it's easy.
It's cut and dry. If they're going to do anything, that's the duo left that's going to carry them to a Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 So shout outs to Wendy's. That's our dynamic duo.
And now we're moving on to throwback three, which this is a fun one for you, for sure. For me, I had to do a little digging.

Speaker 3 We're going to do our throwback three, our all-time greatest college football teams. And I'll just tell you off the bat for me, no disrespect.

Speaker 3 If I did not watch even a little bit, I can't put you in there. I know there's some great Oklahoma teams from God knows when, and I just can't do it.
So no disrespect to the truly old, old, old.

Speaker 2 There's, okay, there's a lot of debate about this. And this is a great one because I think you could argue.
I'm with you. Like you can go back to some of the best ones in the 70s and 80s and 60s.
And

Speaker 2 again, I just like some of the USC teams in the 70s were some of the best of all time.

Speaker 2 I just, I didn't, I didn't watch them like you, you know, even in the 80s. So, and there, there's, there's also this, this narrative of everyone compares, oh, well,

Speaker 2 they were, and I would put myself in that category. It's like, great in college, average in the NFL.
We are talking college, okay?

Speaker 2 We aren't talking, oh, well, they did this and then their Hall of Famers in the NFL. It doesn't, to me, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 That's why it's always like, who's the greatest quarterback of all time in college? But a lot of those guys happen to be good in the NFL too. So it's like, it's just, it's just one.

Speaker 2 So that argument is fucking bullshit. Okay.
I'm just going to start here. I'm going to start with number three.

Speaker 3 Go ahead.

Speaker 2 2019 LSU. Hell yeah.

Speaker 2 That was my boy Coach O was the head coach. I got this.
I got some notes here just real quick, dude.

Speaker 2 I'm just going to rattle off this offense because honestly, their defense was kind of shit that year. It wasn't great.

Speaker 2 That's not like a complete team, but their offense was so good. Burrow, Clyde Edwards-Alaire, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson.
Sick.

Speaker 2 Defense, they did have a couple dudes. Derek Stingley Jr.
was a dude. Patrick Queen and Grant Delpitt.
Overall, their defense wasn't great.

Speaker 2 I think they were like 30 or 40th or something, 50th, something like that total defense.

Speaker 2 That was one of the more fun teams. I was covering college football then, not the SE.
One of the more fun teams to watch. Like, it was just like, they didn't need a defense.

Speaker 2 They could have probably beaten teams without a defense. That's how fun and how good they were.
Ran the table in the SEC, won a national championship. Burrow wins a Heisman.

Speaker 2 Coach O, who I love, gets the trophy. That team is one of the best of all.
Do it.

Speaker 3 That's my number three as well. I was worried we're going to have some overlap.
I don't care. You know, I tried to talk myself into, oh, it was the Trevor Lawrence Clemson team.

Speaker 3 No, no, couldn't do it. I tried to talk myself into some others as so clearly one of the three best college teams of all time, if you're of our generation.

Speaker 2 All right, number two. I wonder if we're going to overlap the whole way.

Speaker 2 So that's your number three.

Speaker 2 That's my number three.

Speaker 2 I mean, are we going Miami?

Speaker 3 I'm going 2001.

Speaker 2 So go get. I mean, look, 2000.
Go. What do you got? Hurricanes.

Speaker 3 I mean, you just want to talk about.

Speaker 3 beasts all over the field. Obviously, Ken Dorsey won the Maxwell Award.
Clinton Portis, 1,200 yards on the ground.

Speaker 3 And then, of course, we'd be remiss not to mention, for me, my favorite defensive back of all time, Ed Reed.

Speaker 3 He's like an adjective. I would describe things.
Like if someone makes any kind of a play, it's like, oh, wow, you're just playing. Ed Reid did it.
You just did it, Ed Reed. So that team.

Speaker 2 Dude,

Speaker 2 listen to this, okay?

Speaker 2 38 future NFL draft picks,

Speaker 2 17 future first rounders. Okay, Dorsey Portis.
17 first rounders. Andre Johnson, Jeremy Schockey, Vilma, Bryant McKinney, Buchanan.
These guys were on the bench.

Speaker 3 That's an NFL team.

Speaker 2 And this is the argument. They were on the bench.
But by the way, on the bench, they didn't play. So

Speaker 2 Willis McGahey and Frank Gore,

Speaker 2 Helen Winslow, the late Sean Taylor, who I came out of high school with. Vince Wolfork, my boy.
We just got into the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame together.

Speaker 2 And Ansrell Roll, who I played with, who was a first-rounder, I believe. Arizona of Arizona, who's one of my dogs.
I love that guy. That team.
That's sick, man.

Speaker 2 Is the most stacked team, I would say, of all time.

Speaker 2 But shit, man, you know where I'm going to go.

Speaker 3 You got to go. And you know what? I don't call me a homer all you want.
Call it favorites from my boy.

Speaker 2 But number one, I'm with you.

Speaker 3 I'm going to clear the decks for you because we are aligned on number one. Talk your shit, Matt Liner.
Talk your shit.

Speaker 2 The only team to go wire to wire, number one,

Speaker 2 2004 only, I believe.

Speaker 2 I saw that kind of stat pop up this year during the season, 2004 USC. Okay.

Speaker 2 Look, I could talk about us for fucking an hour. Dominant defense, pretty dominant offense, even though we were young.
And by the way, we didn't even have Mike Williams that year.

Speaker 2 Remember big old Mike? He decided to say F the NCAA and pull Maurice Clarette. I'm going to leave early.
And then he didn't. And we were like, no, don't leave us, dude.

Speaker 3 That's right. You didn't have Mike Williams that year.

Speaker 2 Dude, Mike Williams is the most dominant, dominant arguably the most dominant player in that era physically dominant and anyone would say the same um we beat jason white who'd won the heisman adrian peterson who is a freak by 40 points 36 points in the national championship game i would say and i don't know but you can quote me maybe the most lopsided national championship game of all time Probably.

Speaker 2 Maybe we could look that up really quick. It's gotta be, but it had to be the most dominant

Speaker 2 of all time. Of modern time, for sure.
Shout out to some of my boys on defense. Some people are going to be like, who the fuck are these guys? Matt Grudygood.
I don't care. He was up for the Bucus.

Speaker 2 Lofa Tatupu played in Seattle for a long time. Great player.
Sean Cody, great player, played for the Houston. Steve Smitty, your boy for the Giants.

Speaker 2 Dwayne Jarrett, Lendell, and Reggie, obviously, those guys combined for over 2,500 yards from scrimmage that year.

Speaker 2 I mean, I can go on and on. Anytime.

Speaker 3 What it must have been like, though, anywhere.

Speaker 3 Get into that huddle and just look at those other faces you just mentioned.

Speaker 2 We had a great offensive line. Ryan Khalil, my center, who's going to be a hot woman.

Speaker 3 Would you say you would say anytime, any place, put us up against any team?

Speaker 2 Yeah, dude, because that's my squad. By the way, I have this conversation ever when I ever see Marcus Spears because the year before Marcus Spears was at LSU and

Speaker 2 we shared the title.

Speaker 2 They were in the national championship game. We got hosed by the BCS bullshit because Oklahoma lost to Kansas State and Darren Sprawls, but still made it.

Speaker 2 We beat beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl, so we got a share of, we had like the AP poll or something. We got a share, but I still tell him to this day, bro, let's go in the backyard.

Speaker 2 We just, we laugh about it. But listen, man, like, I think, I think based on our performance, number one the whole year,

Speaker 2 played, we played some good teams that year, beat Notre Dame, Virginia Tech to kick off the season, and then just the most dominant performance in championship game history. All right.
Well,

Speaker 3 let's land the plane right here.

Speaker 2 Ohio State.

Speaker 3 This year's Ohio State. Going up against.

Speaker 2 My hamstring is cramping right now.

Speaker 2 Fuck. That's because I'm old.
KK. You're washed.
No, she's not. This year's.

Speaker 3 Breathe through the cramp while you think about

Speaker 2 Georgia TCU. Yeah, fuck.
That doesn't count, though.

Speaker 3 Ohio State this year, as hot as they are right now against that USC team. What's the final score?

Speaker 2 Final score? Yeah, how much is that?

Speaker 2 That'll be a little closer to our game against Texas, right? That was 41-38. I think that'd be a high-scoring game.

Speaker 3 So it's a shootout.

Speaker 2 It's a shootout, but we went. One possession win?

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Yeah. Ohio State's nice.

Speaker 2 All right. So we're getting, so hold on really quick.
I've got to say this. The three biggest

Speaker 2 deficits, right? Top three biggest blowouts in natty history. Georgia beat TCU.
Yeah. Shit.

Speaker 2 That one's a little that you could put an asterisk by that, though.

Speaker 2 Alabama over Ohio State by 28 in 2020. And what's that?

Speaker 2 Oh, ours is probably the third.

Speaker 2 Anyway,

Speaker 3 you have some, you have to lock. Who's locking down some of them Ohio State receivers?

Speaker 2 Dude, we got Pete Carroll running the defense, bro.

Speaker 1 We're good.

Speaker 3 All right. Well, it is going to be a fun week for sure.

Speaker 3 Everybody, enjoy.

Speaker 3 Again, and again, shout out to everyone in LA. Please stay safe and do what you can to help out over there.
And another good show in the books.

Speaker 3 We're going to come back next week, and there's going to be everything's going to be different.

Speaker 2 Everything's going to be different. I know.

Speaker 3 Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

Speaker 2 Yes.
